As soon as Robert hung up, Wren turned sharply to Elena.

“My brother just called. What was that about the grandsons getting into a fight?”

“A fight?” Elena’s chest tightened. “Jon and Elliot weren’t hurt, were they?”

“Your grandsons are perfectly fine,” Wren said. “Felix is the one who got hurt. From what I heard, Jon and Elliot got physical with him while helping some other classmates.”

He frowned. “You really need to talk to those boys. Even brothers should stand together when there’s trouble. How could they side with outsiders and go after their own cousin?”

That lit a spark of anger in Elena—but she kept it contained.

She let out a cold laugh. “Jon and Elliot are the most sensible, well-behaved kids there are. Why would they help outsiders bully their own family? Shouldn’t you be asking Robert what actually happened?”
