To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 981-He's Changed a Lot Jenny's answer was as ambiguous as it could get, and Jade didn't interrogate her further. At the end of the day, it was Jenny and Alec's business; as an outsider, it wasn't appropriate for Jade to be too nosy.

"Come on. Let's go for a meal together." Max walked over to them. He'd really pull out all the stops for his confession to Jade that day.

Jenny quickly waved her hands back and forth, declining the offer, and said, "I don't think that's a good idea. We shouldn't interfere with your first date."

Max and Jade had just started dating. Jenny felt it wasn't good for her and Alec to tag along and intrude on the new couple's precious first moments together after their love had just blossomed and bore fruit.

"What are you all concerned about? We're just going to eat." Max glanced at her. He didn't make plans for another round of romantic gestures for Jade at the restaurant. Instead, he merely intended to treat Jenny and Alec to a meal and thank them for coming over.

Jenny was still hesitant, but Jade said, "Come on, Jenny. It's the best time to have fondue with this heavy snowfall."

When Jade put it that way, Jenny was instantly tempted by her suggestion. She looked at Alec and asked, "Are you going?"

"Sure, I'll go." Alec nodded in confirmation. He knew that if he said he wasn't, Jenny wouldn't go either.

Since he said he was going, Jenny had no reason to refuse. Everyone followed Max and left the park. They then drove to a famous fondue restaurant in Bardoff City.

After they left, the central park was officially opened to visitors. The decorations Max put up for his confession earlier attracted the park visitors, and they soon crowded the place to take pictures. It became a popular spot for taking photos instantly.

On the way to the fondue restaurant. Max and Jade's car drove ahead, with Alec's car following from behind. Jenny sat in the front passenger seat of Alec's car as usual.

She glanced at Alec beside her, driving the car, and couldn't help but say," It seems like your relationship with Max now is much better than when you were both in Parrington."

"Yeah. Maybe it's because of Mortimer." Alec didn't deny it.

Max didn't really hate the Fausts; he hated Mortimer and his own mother.

Now, Max's mother had passed away, and Mortimer was lying in a vegetative state in a hospital bed. If he still refused to let go of his hatred and sought vengeance on the Fausts, the hatred would consume him, and he would never be able to overcome his demons and start anew.

The moment he decided to confess to Jade, he'd already decided to let go of the past and start a new life.

"Is he still in a coma?" Jenny hadn't paid much attention to Mortimer. Alfred hardly mentioned him in front of her, let alone Alec.

Alec nodded and didn't show any emotions. It was as if Mortimer was just a stranger to him. With that, they fell silent, and neither spoke again for the rest of the journey.

Fortunately, their car pulled up at the doorstep of the fondue restaurant in no time. It seemed many people had the same idea to come and enjoy the bubbling hot fondue on a cold winter's day, so business at the restaurant was booming— they had to wait for a table. Jenny didn't mind, though, as delicious food was always worth the wait.

However, Max couldn't bear to let Jade wait since it was a special day for the both of them. Jenny didn't know what he did, but soon, they got a private room.

As they sat down, the warmth from the heater dissipated the chill from their bodies.

At the dining table, Jenny watched as Max carefully asked Jade what she liked to eat. He was entirely different from his previous wayward self-no trace of his old self could be seen. Jenny couldn't help but sigh at the power of love that could change a person completely.

"I don't like how you keep staring at him like that." Alec leaned over and whispered in her ear.

Jenny snapped out of her thoughts and responded, "I just think he's changed a lot."

Alec was quick to joke. "True. He's unlike me, who has been consistently great."

Jenny rolled her eyes and stood up. 'Til go get the dipping sauce for you."

To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 982-Listen to What You're Saying!

Soon, Alec had a plate of dipping sauce in front of him, but he smelled the strong acidic vinegar and was momentarily at a loss for words. "Is this the dipping sauce you brought me?"

"Don't you like vinegar, just like how you like sour grapes?” Jenny asked with an innocent look on her face, seemingly puzzled about what the problem was.

Alec was speechless. Of course, he was well aware that Jenny was implying his jealousy was unwarranted. He could only force a smile and reply, "Yes, you're right. I do like sour stuff."

Max and Jade, sitting across from them, couldn't hear their conversation, but they could see the way they spoke softly to each other, like they were in their own little world. Their interactions went beyond that of a normal friendship.

"Have they gotten back together?" Max asked, looking at them quizzically. They looked more like a couple than he and Jade did.

Jade chuckled and didn't know what to say. "I don't think so."

"Hmm…" Max snorted humorlessly, wondering how much longer they planned to keep up that "more than friends but not quite lovers" act.

Soon, the fondue was served. None of them were particularly fond of fruits, but they thought they should still eat some because only eating bread and meat with cheese would be too heavy on their palates.

"Have some apples." Jenny proceeded to put some apple slices onto Alec's plate.

Alec looked at the apples on his plate and couldn't help but comment, "Are you trying to hint at something?"

Jenny was speechless. She just thought that Alec should have some fruit since he didn't eat them much on normal days. What could she imply? Did he think she was implying that he was the apple of her eye?

"You decide whether you want to eat it or not. I don't care," she said, thinking it was his problem that he was a picky eater if the food wasn't to his liking.

The corner of Alec's eyes scrunched up as he smiled; he was obviously teasing Jenny. "Well, I can't refuse the food you've served me, can I?"

"Hmph!" Jenny snorted coldly, looking vexed.

Max and Jade looked at them helplessly.

"Can you two be more considerate of our feelings?" Max asked. Then, he couldn't help but add, "Which of us is the actual couple here?"

Jenny coughed dryly and moved toward the edge of her seat to put some distance between herself and Alec.

"You're just purposely proving a point and being in denial by doing that," Max pointed out.

Alec just smiled and didn't comment on it. It was only a matter of time before he and Jenny became an actual couple.

The four of them shared laughs and good humor as they dined, but at the study on the second floor of Gilbert's villa, the conversation between Gilbert and Zack wasn't going well.

Gilbert was solemn as he said, "Zack, I remember making myself very clear the last time. Why haven't you broken up with that woman yet?"

Not only had he not broken up with her, but he'd also brought her over that day.

Gilbert wondered if his little brother had lost his mind.

"Gilbert, I've read through all the information you gave me. I know that Janet has made many mistakes in the past, but she's changed now. She's no longer the person she was before," Zack explained.

When he first saw the information, he was angry and thought that Janet was promiscuous when it came to relationships. But later, he began to understand her bit by bit.

Being born into a poor family, Janet desperately wanted to escape and live a better life, and there was nothing wrong with that. Although the path she initially took was wrong, she didn't actually hurt anyone. Zack believed that she should be forgiven. So, he didn't even mention the matter of Janet's past to her, thinking that as long as Gilbert got to know her better, he would see her good side and choose to overlook her past mistakes.

"Zack! Listen to what you're saying!" At that moment, Gilbert felt that Zack could be the death of him.

"Come on. Janet is a good person. I'm sure she realized how wrong she'd been in the past. Let's give her another chance," he pleaded. It wasn't just for the sake of his happiness, but also for Janet's.

To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 983-Am I That Horrible?

Seeing how insistent Zack was, Gilbert didn't know what to say. "Since you insist, then do as you please. I've done my part and said what needs to be said.

If you get hurt in the future, that's on you. However, there's one thing I can tell you clearly—I won't accept her. Of course, you probably don't care. So, please don't bring her to my house in the future. If you two are inseparable, then you don't need to drop by from now on either."

Gilbert's stance was clear as day, and Zack's face became increasingly grim as he took in his brother's words.

"Do you really not want to give her a chance?" Zack asked. He didn't understand why Gilbert, who'd always been nice and friendly to everyone, was so skeptical of Janet.

Looking at Zack with a serious expression, Gilbert said, "She doesn't need me to give her a chance. No matter what she's done in the past, I can ignore it, but I won't accept that kind of woman marrying you. Do you understand?"

He couldn't care less about such matters, but Zack was his brother.

Unfortunately, Zack didn't understand Gilbert's reasoning.

"Why do you always do this? You break couples up just because you can't bear to see them get together," Zack said.

"What did you say?" Gilbert couldn't believe it. He thought his ears were deceiving him.

"Was I wrong?"

Zack didn't flinch and stared back at Gilbert squarely. "You wanted to break Jenny and Alec up before, and now you want me to break up with Janet. Is it because you can't be happy yourself, so you don't want us to be happy either?"

Gilbert was furious! The person before him right then seemed alien and unfamiliar. He couldn't believe that those words came out of Zack's mouth.

"I think I understand why Jenny doesn't like you. If it were me, I wouldn't like you either!"

Gilbert slapped Zack just as he was done with his tirade.

"Get out! Get out right now!" Gilbert fumed.

"Fine, I'll leave!" Zack shouted back angrily. He wasn't exactly someone who had a mild temperament, either.

Zack turned and walked out of the study, heading toward the kitchen downstairs.

Gilbert stood frozen in place in the study. He'd exerted all his strength when he slapped Zack, and he was still shaking from anger.

The worst thing was the damage caused by what Zack had just said to him. The words reverberated in his mind, haunting his thoughts.

"He said he doesn't like me. Am I really that horrible?" Gilbert started to doubt himself.

He always considered himself a big brother who took care of his younger siblings. But look at the state of things now…

It seemed that no one would listen to him anymore. First, it was Jenny, and now, Zack. Gilbert laughed bitterly. It seemed to him that he had failed as a big brother.

Janet was cooking in the kitchen downstairs. When she saw Zack come in, she smiled and said, "Have you finished talking with your brother? It's time for dinner."

"There's no point staying here. We're not welcome," Zack said, infuriated. Janet was startled by how irritated he seemed. She'd never seen him that enraged in their entire relationship.

"Sorry. It's just…" Zack quickly apologized, realizing that he'd unwittingly snapped at Janet.

Janet didn't say anything and hugged him. "It's okay. I'm not angry."

Zack hugged her back tighter. "Thank you."

"Gilbert…how can I let go of such a good girl?" he questioned internally.

After a while, the two separated, and Janet gazed up to the second floor, not quite knowing what to say. "Um…What did Gilbert say?" she asked tentatively.

Zack had calmed down by then. He decided to leave the villa with Janet." It's okay. Let's go. We'll come and visit him another day." "Okay." Janet nodded.

She didn't ask what had happened and just silently followed Zack as they left.

To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 984-Worry for Zack’s Future From the window of his study, Gilbert watched as Zack and Janet left. He then picked up his phone to call Jenny.

"Jenny, I won't meddle in Zack's affairs anymore, and you’d better not either.

Some people just don't learn their lessons until they pay a price for it."

Zack hadn't encountered any major difficulties in life so far and had quite a smooth journey. Although people like him were blessed and lived a happy life, they weren’t exposed to the dangers of the world. Gilbert thought it was time for him to suffer and learn from his mistakes.

Before Jenny could ask what was going on, Gilbert hung up the phone. Taken aback by the situation, Jenny continued to stare at her phone in confusion.

"What’s wrong?" Alec was next to her and naturally heard Gilbert's words.

Jenny shook her head and didn’t say anything to him. Instead, she got up, walked out of the private room, and dialed Zack's number.

"Zack, where are you?" Jenny asked.

"Hey, Jenny. Janet and I are looking for a place to eat. Have you eaten yet?

Why don't you join us?" From the other end of the phone, Zack sounded cheerful and unaffected, as if nothing had happened.

Jenny couldn't fathom what was going on.

"You should go ahead and eat, but can you meet me after? Alone. I'll send you the address." Jenny felt she should talk to Zack even though Gilbert told her not to interfere. After all, he was her brother. How could she sit by and do nothing about it?

Zack glanced at Janet sitting beside him and thought of Jenny’s request to meet him alone. He could already guess what was going on. "Alright, I’ll meet up with you later after I finish eating."

Since he agreed to meet, Jenny didn't say anything else. She ended their call and returned to the private room.

They were almost done with their meal. Max and Jade wanted to see a movie.

As Jenny had asked Zack to meet up with her, she decided not to join them and asked Alec to send her home instead.

Alec didn't question her choice and silently drove her home.

"Is it because of Zack and Janet's situation?" Alec asked.

Jenny glanced at him with slightly widened eyes, seemingly surprised that he knew what was happening.

"I heard you mention something about this before, so I could roughly guess what's going on," Alec replied with a smile. He could tell that Jenny was worried for Zack since the woman he was seeing might have approached him with impure intentions.

Jenny sighed, looking at the snowy landscape outside the window and feeling glum. "I think he probably had a fight with Gilbert."

And she could tell it was quite a big one, or Gilbert wouldn’t be so angry.

"It’s normal. People in love won't listen. You better not cling to the idea of making him give up," Alec advised.

"But…do we really just let them be? If we don't stop them now, what if they get more deeply involved in the future?" Jenny was puzzled. She didn't want to argue with Zack, but she thought some things still needed to be said.

Alec looked at her and shook his head helplessly. "You can’t stop them from being in a relationship simply because you want to. Are you really so confident that you can make Zack give up on this?"

Jenny shook her head-she wasn't sure.

"If you advise him to give up now, he will go against your wishes instead," Alec said.

Jenny felt a headache coming and rubbed her temples. “What should we do then? We can't just do nothing about it, can we?"

"Why rush? They're just boyfriend and girlfriend now. It's hard to say whether they can stay together. If you want to stop them, at least wait until they intend to get married," Alec replied.

Jenny thought what he said made sense. "I'm just afraid that Zack will get more and more invested in his relationship with her."

If that were the case, by the time Zack decided to settle down with Janet, Jenny wouldn't be able to stop them even if she wanted to

To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 985-The Talk "Have you seen many people who can make it to the end with their first love?"

When Alec asked that question, he lamented the fact that, despite his undying love for Jenny, they had yet to begin dating. Sometimes, being together for a long time didn't necessarily lead to marriage; instead, it gave rise to a lot of conflicts between a couple. Jenny thought Alec had a point.

"Hmm…you're right. It seems Gilbert and I were a little too anxious."

"Although you consider Zack your older brother, he's actually not as mature as you are. This is typical rebellious behavior-the more you try to stop him, the more he wants to be with that woman. So, when you see him later, it's best to just ask what happened between him and Gilbert and not say much about wanting him to give up on her," Alec advised.

Jenny nodded. "Okay, I understand."

As they spoke, the car had already entered the parking lot of the residential complex. They walked into the elevator, and Jenny was still thinking about what to say to Zack when she saw him later. Initially, she had the same idea of trying to get Zack to give up on Janet, just like Gilbert. However, after hearing Alec's opinion on the situation and taking into account Gilbert's moody tone when he called her, Jenny wasn't sure if objecting to Zack’s relationship with Janet was the right thing to do.

If she did, she might end up arguing with Zack. Although they were siblings and had a close relationship, arguing with each other could put a strain on their relationship. If possible, Jenny didn't want to fight with Zack.

"We're here," Alec said, bringing her back to reality.

Jenny returned to her senses. She walked out of the elevator and opened the door to her home. "WelL.you should go get some rest."

"Okay. Knock on my door if you need anything. I'll be around to help." Alec smiled at her, trying to ease her nervousness. He knew Jenny valued Zack and didn't want to damage their relationship. That was why he went out of his way to give her some advice.

Jenny thanked him, then went inside and waited for Zack's arrival. Half an hour later, Zack knocked on her door.

"You're here." Jenny opened the door and saw that he had come alone.

She breathed a sigh of relief, glad he listened to her and didn't bring Janet along. Although she'd asked him to come alone, she wasn't sure if he would really listen. Fortunately, it wasn't that hopeless yet.

It was the first time Zack had come to Jenny's place, and he was surprised.

"This place is so small. Why aren't you living in Walter Castle?"

"I live alone, so it doesn't matter where I live. This place is close to the hospital; it's more convenient for work," Jenny replied.

Zack sat down as Jenny poured him a glass of water. "I heard from Gilbert that you've moved out. Where are you living now?" Jenny asked.

"I bought a house near my company. It's more convenient for work as well,"

Zack said.

If Zack wasn't in a relationship with Janet, he would probably still be living with Gilbert. But now that he had a girlfriend, it was a bit inconvenient for him to live with his brother.

Jenny nodded and drank her water while thinking about how to bring up the topic.

Zack looked at her and smiled helplessly. "Jenny, you asked me to come over because you want to talk to me about Janet, right?"

Jenny was startled but then nodded. "Yes. Did you fight with Gilbert?"

"Yeah. He asked me to break up with Janet, but I couldn't do it," Zack said. After all these years, he'd finally found a girl he liked. How could he break up with her so easily?

"Did you read the information Gilbert gave you?" Jenny asked.

Zack replied, "Yes, I did. I know Janet did some wrong things in the past. But who hasn't committed an error or two in life? I can understand why she did all that."

To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 986-See With Your Own Eyes Hearing what he said, Jenny felt a headache coming. It seemed that Zack didn't even put the things that Janet had done before into consideration; he even thought they were trivial matters.

She was a little baffled and tried to be patient as she said, "Zack, you should know that some things can be forgiven, but some matters are related to a person's character…"

"Jenny, are you also advising me to break up with Janet like Gilbert?" Zack's expression became gloomy, no longer showing the affection he had for Jenny as before.

Jenny's heart sank-she knew why Gilbert had argued with him. Zack was too adamant in his decision to remain with Janet, effectively annoying everyone else who could see she was no good for him.

Fortunately, Jenny had mentally prepared herself before he arrived, so she was able to suppress her anger and patiently say, "No, I just wanted to ask you about what happened between you and Gilbert.’ "It's nothing. It'll be fine in a few days." Hearing that Jenny wasn't advising him to break up with Janet, Zack's expression improved slightly. Of course, it was only slightly because, at the mention of Gilbert, he was reminded of their argument.

In fact, after leaving the villa, Zack regretted his actions a bit. He felt that he was too impulsive at that time and should not have said the things he said. But since he'd already blurted them in the heat of the moment, he was too proud to go back and apologize.

Jenny didn't continue to ask about what went on between her brothers. "It's good that there's no problem. I was just worried about you and Gilbert. You should know that no matter what he says, he genuinely wants the best for you."

"Jenny…"

"I know you're upset, and you feel he's coming between your happiness. But think about it, if he weren't your brother, would he even care about these things?’ They all knew what kind of person Gilbert was. He never liked to meddle in other people's affairs. Zack sighed at Jenny’s rhetorical question; of course, he knew Gilbert's character.

"I know, but I like Janet. I don't care about her past."

"You can overlook her past, but you have to be sure that she has truly changed,"

Jenny stated.

She looked at Zack, hoping that he would be smart enough to see through deceit if there were any. She hadn't been in contact with Janet and wouldn't have much contact with her in the future either. Zack would have to see for himself whether Janet had truly changed.

Zack didn't even think about it and nodded affirmatively, saying, "She must have changed her old ways. I believe that she genuinely loves me now."

"Don't rely on intuition. See with your own eyes," Jenny reminded him.

"I know. I will pay attention."

Jenny felt that she'd said enough at this point. If she could make Zack pay attention to Janet's actions in their everyday life, then she was still somewhat successful in trying to pry open Zack's willingly shut eyes, even if it was only by a little bit. The moment Janet was up to something, Zack would definitely notice, and by that time, he would naturally give up on her without anyone else saying anything.

If Janet really did nothing and was honest in her relationship with Zack, Jenny wouldn't continue to come between them even if she didn't like Janet. No one could tell whether Janet had really changed for the better for the time being.

There was no point in dwelling on the same topic at this point.

"You should go back now. If you have time, I'll invite you and Gilbert out for a meal in a few more days."

Zack pursed his lips as he knew what Jenny meant-she wanted him to apologize to Gilbert.

"What if he still insists on breaking me and Janet up?" In that case, he wouldn't apologize.

"Don't worry, I'll be there. Gilbert won't do that."

Jenny would make it clear to Gilbert, and she was sure he would be able to understand her. Hearing Jenny say that, Zack inexplicably breathed a sigh of relief. Although he said he didn't care, that wasn't true at all. If Gilbert was willing to change his mind, he was certainly willing to apologize.

To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 987-Sorry for Disturbing Your Sleep Late at night, there was a knock on Alec's door. Having just finished work and fallen asleep, he was very unhappy with whoever was disturbing his sleep at that hour. Emitting an aura of hostility, Alec opened the door but was stunned upon seeing the person at his doorstep.

"Jenny?"

Jenny leaned against the wall, her body aching all over. She struggled to lift her head and look at Alec. ’I'm sorry for disturbing your sleep.’ "What's the matter?" Alec immediately noticed something was wrong with Jenny and hugged her the next second.

Under the dim light, he saw Jenny's abnormally red cheeks and touched her forehead. He frowned immediately upon feeling her temperature. "You have a fever?"

Jenny replied weakly, "I probably caught a cold during the day."

After all, she had gone to see the snow in the morning and had been exposed to the cold wind for quite some time during Max's confession to Jade in the snow.

Alec looked worried as he carried her into his room and carefully placed her on the bed. He immediately brought some hot water for Jenny. "Wipe yourself down and cool off first."

"Okay." Jenny nodded and said, ’I came over to ask if you have any fever medicine at home. I don't have any."

She'd just moved in not long ago and had not prepared for these situations.

Although Walter Castle had some, Jenny was afraid she would pass out halfway if she drove over to get them.

"I'll go downstairs to buy some for you,’ Alec said. He didn't have any medicine either because he rarely got sick or had a fever, so he had no need for such things. But after that night, he would probably prepare some at home.

When Alec was just about to go downstairs to buy the medicine, Jenny grabbed his hand. "Forget it. It's too late now. The drugstore is probably closed, and it's too cold outside."

She didn't want Alec to catch a fever as well.

"Don't worry, and just lie down. I'll be back soon." He was sure that Jenny would feel great discomfort in her condition if she didn't take any medication.

Therefore, Alec turned around and left after asking Jenny to stay put. For him, buying medicine wasn't a problem whether the drugstore was open or not.

After he left, Jenny struggled to get up and walked toward the bathroom. Alec wasn't wrong; physical cooling was very important for her at that moment. If she continued to burn up like that, she would become delirious.

In the bathroom, Jenny prepared to take a hot bath. As the hot water fell on her body, she immediately felt much better, and her mind became clearer. It was then that she realized she was in Alec's house. She felt embarrassed, realizing she should have gone back to her own unit to shower instead.

Jenny intended to quickly resolve the situation before Alec came back.

Otherwise, it would be awkward by the time he returned. She turned off the hot water so she could dry herself and put on her clothes before leaving. But soon, she came to realize a problem.

She'd never been to Alec's unit before, so naturally, there weren't any of her things there. Most importantly, she didn't have a towel! What should she use to dry herself then?

Jenny felt helpless, and her gaze landed on the clothes she'd just taken off.

"Well, desperate times call for desperate measures," she thought.

Just as she reached out for her clothes, intending to use them to dry herself off, there came a knock on the bathroom door, which startled her and made her jolt.

"Jenny, are you inside?" Alec's voice came from outside.

"…Yes," Jenny replied hesitantly. She wished she could just disappear.

"I've left a towel and some clothes outside the door for you. I'll be waiting for you in the living room," Alec said, leaving the bedroom after placing clean clothes and a towel outside the bathroom door

To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 988-Don't Think About Unnecessary Things After hearing the sound of the bedroom door closing, Jenny blushed and cautiously opened the bathroom door. She then took the towel and clothes. The clothes belonged to Alec and had a masculine woody scent; they didn't quite fit her.

However, that was the least of Jenny's concerns at that moment. She would just wear them for a while and change when she got home. With that in mind, she put on Alec's shirt and came out of the bathroom. Thank goodness for the heating. Otherwise, not only would it be cold outside, but the house would be freezing too.

Jenny walked from the bedroom to the living room. Alec sat on the couch while waiting for her to come out. Hearing her footsteps, he turned to her and asked, "Do you feel better now?"

"Yeah. Much better," she replied gratefully. Although she felt slightly dizzy, the soreness in her body had somewhat subsided.

"I bought some medicine for you. Since you're a doctor, you can decide which ones to take," he said. He'd asked the pharmacist but felt that Jenny would know better.

Jenny nodded and picked up the medicine Alec had bought. He'd bought a lot; there were even antibiotics.

"Thank you,’ she said.

Jenny only took the fever medicine and didn't take anything else for the time being. She wanted to wait and see how she felt in the morning. If it was serious, she would take antibiotics, but if she improved, she didn't plan to take any other medicine.

"Thank you for your help. I should go now," she said. It was already very late, and Jenny thought it would be rude for her to keep Alec up any longer.

But Alec grabbed her hand and said with a hint of reproach, ’You're wearing so little, and it's cold outside. Do you want to make your condition worse?' Jenny's heart skipped a beat at his stern tone. He led her back to the bedroom and said, "You can sleep in my room. I'll sleep in my guest room."

"That's not right. I should sleep in the guest room instead of your room,' Jenny said. Then, she added, "Or could you lend me a down jacket to wear back home?"

After all, it was only a short walk, so it wasn't as dramatic as Alec made it out to be.

"Rest well, and don't think about unnecessary things," Alec said before leaving the bedroom, not giving Jenny a chance to leave.

Feeling helpless, Jenny lay down on the bed. Perhaps it was because of the fever medicine, as she soon fell asleep despite being in an unfamiliar bed.

Meanwhile, Alec, who was in the guest room, couldn't fall asleep. He couldn't help but think about how Jenny had trusted him enough to ask for his help when she was sick.

Maybe he should seriously consider confessing his feelings. Although things were looking up for them now, and no other men were threatening his position, that didn't mean there wouldn't be any in the future. It would be better if she became his girlfriend. That way, even if he was jealous, he had every right to do so, unlike now.

As these thoughts reeled in his mind, Alec didn't realize that the night had passed until he finally decided to close his eyes and sleep. He then discovered that it was almost dawn upon looking at the time.

Alec thought he might as well get up, as Jenny might wake up soon. Since a person with a fever shouldn't eat greasy food, he decided to make some oatmeal for Jenny and began to busy himself in the kitchen.

In the bedroom, Jenny was sleeping soundly, completely unaware that Alec had been awake all night and was currently in the kitchen. When she woke up, it was already eight in the morning. She could see the faint sunlight streaming into the bedroom when she opened her eyes.

In winter, sunlight was particularly precious. Jenny didn't continue lazing and got up from the bed.

To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 989-e living room and saw the hot oatmeal on the dining table, she was a little stunned. She looked at Alec, still busying himself in the kitchen, and a warm feeling washed over her. She took a step toward him and said, "Hey."

She called out softly, and he turned around with a smile. "Oh, you're awake already. Do you feel better?" he asked with concern.

"Yeah. I feel better now." Jenny nodded and walked toward him. She was surprised to see that he was making tortellini. For a moment, she didn't know what to say. Then, she asked, "What time did you get up?"

"I don't remember. It was still dark outside." Alec said with a laugh, not minding that he’d gotten no sleep at all. It was his first time making tortellini, so he wasn't very familiar with the process. Fortunately, he had some talent for cooking, so his attempt didn't end up in failure.

Alec was about to ask Jenny to have breakfast when he suddenly felt Jenny's warm body in his arms.

"Why are you so good to me?" Even though Jenny hadn't accepted Alec and was still hesitant about being in a relationship with him, she couldn't help but feel moved by Alec's kindness at that moment, even if she'd steeled her heart to not be swayed by emotions.

Feeling the warmth in his chest, Alec lowered his head and looked at the person in his arms. Then, he raised his arms and hugged her back tightly." You're wrong. I haven't been good to you at all. If I were good to you, I wouldn't have hurt you so badly before."

Alec had always regretted not treating Jenny well when she was his wife; even when she became his girlfriend, he still didn't cherish her enough. The insignificant amount of kindness now was nothing but futile compensation that came too little and too late. To him, it was practically worthless.

"Let's forget about the past. Actually, when I think about it, it's not all your fault."

Jenny removed herself from his embrace. In her heart, she understood that the past wasn't entirely his fault. They had gotten married in a hurry back then, so it was normal for Alec to be resentful about being bound to her. Although he never came to see her in person, he never did anything to harm her, either.

In fact, looking back now, Jenny thought she was just unable to swallow her pride back then.

Alec's eyes brightened hearing her say that. "Jenny, are you saying that you forgive me for the foolish things I did before?"

"Yeah." Jenny nodded.

Alec was elated; he didn't bother to suppress the wide, beaming smile that had appeared on his face automatically. ’Thank you," he said.

"Come and have breakfast. You've done enough," Jenny replied, feeling a little embarrassed as she turned to leave the kitchen.

Alec was still smiling, but he didn't refuse. He brought the steaming hot tortellini to the dining table and said, "Try it and let me know what you think. Give me some feedback, and I'll improve next time."

Jenny tried one, and the corners of her eyes lifted up as she said with a slight smile, "It's delicious. There's nothing to improve."

Alec had a real talent for cooking. Even though it was his first time making tortellini, Jenny still thought it was very delicious. In fact, it tasted even better than the ones sold in restaurants.

"If you like it, I can make it for you every morning." Alec was naturally happy to receive recognition for his cooking. Moreover, the person who acknowledged his cooking was Jenny, so his happiness was multiplied several times over.

Upon hearing that, Jenny quickly waved her hand to show that it would be too much of a hassle. "There's no need. It'll be too troublesome, so you don't have to do it."

He was a busy man-she'd feel guilty if he wasted so much time making breakfast for her every day.

"It's not troublesome as long as you like it." He looked at her intently.

Jenny was taken aback. She cleared her throat to ease her racing heart."

There's really no need. I'll quickly tire of even the most delectable if I eat it every single day."

"That's true. Just let me know when you would like to have a taste of my cooking, and I'll gladly cook for you." Alec agreed, so he didn't insist any further.

Jenny replied with a simple "okay" and said nothing else.

To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 990-Feigning Ignorance Jenny started working at the hospital as usual. Although her condition was better, and she wasn't as uncomfortable as the night before, she hadn’t fully recovered yet and still felt a little dizzy. However, it didn't affect her much, and she still insisted on going to work and consulting patients in the outpatient clinic.

"Next," she called out to the waiting area.

Shortly after, someone pushed the door open and entered. Jenny, who was typing on her computer, didn't immediately look up to see who it was.

When she finished and looked up at the patient across from her, she was a little surprised.

"Miss York?" Jenny was puzzled when she saw that the patient was Alexandra.

Alexandra was evidently displeased, and there was a hostile look in her eyes as she stared at Jenny. 'Hello, Dr. Walter," she greeted.

Jenny sensed Alexandra's unfriendliness and stared back at her for a few seconds. Then, she asked, "What's wrong?"

"My heart," Alexandra answered.

Jenny frowned and leaned back in her chair. She pointed to the door and said, "Walk out and turn left. The cardiology department is over there."

"Really? But only you can treat my illness, Dr. Walter," Alexandra replied. She didn't seem to have any intention of leaving and continued to sit there, looking at Jenny with the same unfriendly expression.

Jenny didn't understand what was up with her. She hadn't contacted Christopher at all, so even if Alexandra wanted to hold someone accountable for her unhappy relationship with her boyfriend, she shouldn't be looking for Jenny.

Thinking of the other patients waiting to see her outside, Jenny didn't want to waste any time with Alexandra. "If you have something to say, please get to the point. Don't keep the other patients waiting."

"Fine!" Alexandra spat with a nod. Then, she asked, "What did you say to Christopher?"

"What do you mean?" Jenny furrowed her brow, looking puzzled and not quite understanding the meaning behind Alexandra's words.

"Are you feigning ignorance? After you left that day, Christopher broke up with me. Are you sure it had nothing to do with you?" Alexandra accused.

She'd been cracking her head over the past few days about why Christopher would suddenly break up with her. Why didn't he break up with her earlier if he didn't like her? Why did he suddenly do it after meeting Jenny? She believed it must have something to do with the woman.

"Christopher broke up with her?’ Jenny questioned internally. She was also puzzled about the turn of events, but she quickly calmed down and said," You're overthinking it. On the day of Harvey's funeral, I didn't say a word to Christopher at all, even when I left."

It was all thanks to Alexandra that Jenny couldn't offer her condolences to Christopher properly. She, of all people, should remember that.

"Don't try to deceive me. You might have left at that time, but who knows?

Maybe you've been in contact with him after that." Alexandra was adamant Jenny had something to do with Christopher breaking up with her. She thought for a moment and continued, "Plus, you met him on the day Mr. Spade passed away in the hospital. You must have said something to him before I showed up!"

"Do you insist on blaming me?" Jenny countered with an icy expression. She wasn't a pushover who would let others trample all over her.

"Everyone in Bardoff City knows he used to be smitten by you! The moment you give him a hint and make him think he still has a chance with you, he'll break up with me." Alexandra firmly believed that her speculation was reasonable.

Jenny nearly gave a mocking laugh out of annoyance upon hearing her words.

She asked somewhat exasperatedly, "Why would you think I was hinting at him?

I'm not interested in him at all. Why would I do that?"

"Who knows? Some women are like that. Even if they don't like the man, they won't let him be with other women," Alexandra sneered disdainfully. She believed Jenny to be that kind of woman. After all, there were always quite a few men around Jenny, constantly waiting for her to spare them a glance.

Jenny didn't want to waste her time talking to Alexandra, nor did she want to explain herself to the unreasonable woman. She pointed at the door and said, "Think whatever you want. I don't feel like talking to you. I'm very busy, so please leave, or I'll call for security."
