Ch. 961..970

To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 961-Stephanie didn't give Leonard a direct answer, but he wasn't discouraged.

"Then you're in luck. You can see me often in the future." The implicit meaning of his words was obvious. It meant he would appear around Stephanie frequently in the future, giving her plenty of opportunities to see him.

Stephanie didn't reply, as she didn't know how to respond, so she remained silent.

The four of them didn't walk for long. After all, the weather was frigid that day.

After Stephanie and Leonard had finished chatting, Jenny suggested that they leave. Alec sent Jenny home, and Leonard escorted Stephanie back.

On the way to Stephanie's house, she and Leonard didn't talk much. During a moment of silence, Leonard noticed a car following them from behind. He had a worried expression on his face immediately, thinking it was someone seeking revenge against him. Making enemies was very common in his line of work.

He sent the license plate number to his colleague to investigate right away.

Soon, he received a text and saw the name "Paul Wagner." Leonard glanced at Stephanie out of the corner of his eye.

Stephanie seemed to sense something was going on and looked at him.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing," Leonard put away his phone without saying much.

Before long, the car arrived at the Walker family's residence. Leonard watched Stephanie go in and didn't hurry to leave. Instead, he waited downstairs for a long time. After receiving a message from Stephanie confirming that she'd arrived home safely, he turned around and made to leave. When he was about to get into his car, he saw the car that had followed them parked across the street.

Leonard knew who Paul was, but it wasn't because of Stephanie-Paul's background wasn't exactly spotless. He'd been involved in a case Leonard had investigated before, but there wasn't any evidence against him. As a result, there wasn’t a need to contact him or bring him in for questioning.

After meeting Stephanie a few days ago, Leonard learned a bit more about her and came to know about what happened between her and Paul. Since then, he knew that no matter how he felt toward Stephanie, he wouldn't let her be with Paul because that man wasn't a good match for her, in Leonard's opinion.

Besides, he liked Stephanie. Therefore, he would try his best to prevent them from getting back together.

As he was thinking about that, Paul seemed to have spotted him from across the street and lowered his car window. The two men stared at each other across the street silently.

After a while, Paul started the car and left, and Leonard left as well.

Alec and Jenny arrived at the residential area where they were staying. They walked into the elevator from the underground parking lot.

"Do you think Stephanie likes Leonard?" Alec suddenly asked, looking at Jenny.

"Why are you interested in that?" Jenny felt curious about Alec's question.

"I was just asking," Alec replied a little shiftily, as he was actually asking for Paul's sake.

Jenny saw through Alec's intentions but didn't call him out on it. As she walked out of the elevator, she said, "I think Steph has a good impression of him. At the very least, she doesn't dislike him."

If Stephanie disliked Leonard, she wouldn't have reacted the way she did. Jenny was well aware of that.

"Well, that's easy to tell." Alec could see it, too, and didn't find it unusual. After all, Leonard was an upright inspector working in the police force. So, most people wouldn't dislike him, as he was an embodiment of order and justice.

"If you want to help Paul, tell him to pursue Stephanie straightforwardly and honestly. Don't use any underhanded means behind people's backs. It'll only make him look bad," Jenny said without beating around the bush.

Alec touched his nose a little awkwardly and said, "Hasn't he been pursuing Stephanie that way? He hasn't done anything bad to her since he arrived in Bardoff City."

"Good. Ask him to keep it up," Jenny said. She then smiled and opened the door to her unit. After waving Alec goodbye and bidding him good night, she closed the door

To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 962-I Lied to You The next day, Jenny was busy with work at the hospital as usual when she unexpectedly received a call from Evan. It was the first time he'd called her since the incident.

"Jenny, would you like to have lunch with me this afternoon? " Evan's tone was neutral, so Jenny couldn't gauge his emotions behind the question.

She checked the time and realized she had two more hours to go before she ended her afternoon shift. Jenny thought she should be able to finish consulting her patients by that time, so she accepted Evan's lunch invitation.

"Sure," she replied.

After hanging up, Jenny continued to busy herself with work and didn't think much about why Evan wanted to see her.

Two hours later, Jenny met up with Evan at the hospital gate.

"Sorry for being late," Jenny apologized. She'd been held up by a patient as she was about to leave. After she was done explaining some things to the patient, she ran a little late for her meetup with Evan.

Evan didn't mind. He opened the car door of the passenger seat for Jenny and said, "Get in. I'll take you somewhere for lunch."

Jenny got in the car without refusing or asking where they were going. Soon, the car started and sped off.

During the ride, neither of them spoke. Evan didn't know what to say while Jenny waited for him to speak. She thought that since Evan had called her, he must have figured out how to explain things to her.

Fortunately, they arrived at the restaurant shortly after. Evan led Jenny to a private room. Silence permeated the air as they took their seats.

"What would you like to eat?" The way Evan carried himself seemed no different than usual. If it hadn't been for the fact they hadn't been in touch for a couple of days, Jenny would've thought nothing was wrong.

She returned to her senses and replied casually, "It's up to you. I'm fine with anything."

Evan didn't insist and ordered a few dishes. Unsurprisingly, they were all Jenny’s favorites.

After the waiter left the room, it was just the two of them. Jenny looked at Evan, waiting for him to speak.

Soon, Evan looked up, and their eyes met. He seemed to know what Jenny was expecting and sighed helplessly." Jenny, you're putting a lot of pressure on me by looking at me like this."

"Am I? I'm just waiting for you to say something." Jenny felt that if he didn’t plan to explain things to her today, they would no longer need to keep in touch with each other.

Although she believed that Evan wouldn't hurt her intentionally, she wouldn't continue to keep in touch with him. After all, he wasn't the same Evan she thought she knew -too many mysteries surrounded him. These unknown aspects about him might also bring unforeseeable dangers.

Evan sighed, knowing that he wouldn't be able to continue keeping Jenny in the dark.

Fortunately, he'd already prepared before he came, so he wasn't entirely at a loss. "I lied to you."

Jenny furrowed her brows but didn't say anything; she just listened silently.

"I wasn't doing honest work abroad. Instead, I hung out with some people and established a certain reputation for myself after a few years. That was how I managed to get some men to work under me," Evan explained.

He thought it wasn't technically wrong for him to word it that way. He did hang out with someone abroad; it was just that this "someone" happened to be a mercenary leader.

Jenny's tightly furrowed brow didn't relax, and her eyes seemed to have a hint of confusion. "How did it turn out that way? With your abilities, you should have landed an excellent job after graduating."

"Well, I can only say that it's not as easy to get by abroad as I thought it would be." He didn't want to tell Jenny what had happened specifically. In the beginning, he hadn't expected to end up where he was now.

However, if one were to ask whether he regretted it, Evan's answer would probably be "no." If he hadn’t decided to take this path in the first place, he would still be an ordinary employee when he returned to the country. With that kind of status, how would he be able to compete with Alec?

To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 963-Start Again Jenny didn't know what Evan was thinking. But when she heard Evan speak about his experience overseas, she naturally assumed that he hadn't been doing well during all those years abroad. As a result, he ended up going astray and taking the wrong path.

She sighed and didn't doubt what he'd told her. "Then, what's next for you?

What do you plan to do? Are you going to continue with your current path?"

She had seen Evan's people suffer losses and thought it wasn't feasible for him to carry on in the same way. On top of that, she wasn't exactly supportive of him going down that same road.

"I haven't decided yet." Evan smiled, but inwardly, he wondered what else he could do if not this.

"Evan, now that you've decided to return to the country, let go of everything abroad and start again. Wouldn't that be better?"

She and Evan grew up together, and although she wasn't as close to him as she was with Gilbert and the others, she still didn't want him to continue down the wrong path. Things were different in the country compared to overseas; if Evan continued as he was, he would end up in jail sooner or later. She didn't wish for him to end up like that.

Jenny looked at Evan sincerely. At that moment, Evan felt immensely touched by her gesture. He wanted to nod and agree to what she said immediately but was still rational enough to resist that urge.

He looked at Jenny and asked, "Jenny, if I let go of everything, will you be willing to be my girlfriend?"

"Evan, these are two different things. I just don't want you to continue down the wrong path!" She couldn't understand why he was so insistent about that.

On the other hand, Evan was very clear about everything. If Jenny was willing to be with him, he would consider giving up on everything he’d built overseas. But if she was unwilling, he didn't have a good reason to give up.

He didn't hold the same opinion as Jenny about him going down the wrong path.

He wasn't like Alec, who was born into a wealthy family. Everything Evan had now was achieved through his blood, sweat, and tears. He had so many men under his command, and giving up all that wasn't an easy choice.

"For me, Jenny, they are the same thing." Evan looked at her solemnly. He was being serious about it.

Jenny's expression also became grim, and she said nothing more. She understood what Evan meant, but she couldn't agree with him.

As they sat in silence, the waiter knocked on the door and brought in the food.

Evan immediately put on a smile. "Let's eat first. We'll talk later."

Although he couldn't agree to Jenny's request, he didn’t want their relationship to suffer a huge blow because of it. He just hoped that she wouldn't mind the matter too much.

Jenny nodded, picked up her fork, and started eating without a word. She didn't know how to persuade Evan and knew very well that she had no right to tell him what to do with his life, but she couldn't bear to watch him continue down a path of self-destruction.

"Evan, you know the situation in the country, right? It's different from abroad."

In foreign countries, people like Evan wouldn't be pursued by the police, at least not to a serious extent. But things were different here, and once any evidence was found, the police would breathe down their necks and come after them relentlessly.

Evan smiled and nodded, but the look in his eyes showed that he was clearly unconcerned about the country’s authorities that Jenny mentioned. "I know, so don't worry. I brought people with me just to protect myself and not for any other purpose."

"Really?" Jenny asked skeptically in her heart.

If he had no plans to do anything, how did Xavier die?

"Jenny, don't you think we've all been used by Alec this time? " Evan suddenly spoke. His words stunned Jenny momentarily.

"Used?" Jenny repeated internally, puzzled by Evan's choice of words.

Seeing her confusion, Evan continued, "Xavier was killed at his request. The last time you were in trouble, he was the one who notified me to save you. In the end, both the Fausts and I suffered heavy losses, but he didn't lose anything and became the ultimate winner."

Evan thought not only did Alec win against Zeke, but he'd also won Jenny's heart. But, of course, Evan wouldn't admit to this

To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 964-Forward Jenny didn't quite agree with what he said. "Alec may be the mastermind behind the whole Xavier incident, but why did you agree? You know he's using you, yet you still agreed. Did you two reach some kind of a deal?"

Evan wasn't stupid; he wouldn't have made a deal that would only bring him losses.

At that moment, Evan was at a loss for words. Could he tell Jenny he didn't get anything from Alec in return? Alec had threatened to expose his identity to Jenny. He wouldn't have agreed to it if he hadn't been anxious about how Jenny would see him once she found out what he'd been up to.

Who would have thought that Jenny would find out what he'd tried so hard to keep hidden so soon despite his efforts to cover it up?

If he knew it would turn out like that, he should have just told Jenny the truth from the beginning. Then, he wouldn't have ended up being used by Alec.

"I'm grateful that you saved me. But at that time, I think Alec had no choice. After all, he didn't have as many men as you did. Knowing that you had the manpower, it was reasonable for him to approach you for help."

Jenny didn't think there was anything wrong with it. If she were Alec, she would do the same.

"Aren't you aware you've been speaking up for him every single time?" Evan chuckled, but his smile looked somewhat strained.

If he couldn't see how biased Jenny was toward Alec, then he really was a fool.

Jenny came to her senses and didn't deny it. "I believe he wouldn't use me."

Evan looked downward and lowered his head, not letting Jenny see the killing intent that flashed across his eyes.

"Okay. Since you trust him, what else can I say?" He forced a smile, aware that he'd reached a dead end.

After a brief silence, the two finished their meal and walked to the restaurant's entrance together.

Realizing they were about to part on bad terms, Evan refused to let things end that way between him and Jenny." Let's still be friends, Jenny."

"Of course," Jenny said. "You're still a manager at Walter Inc, after all."

But that was all.

Jenny gave up trying to persuade Evan because she knew he wouldn't listen.

She simply accepted that they had different views and were destined to drift apart.

Evan forced a smile. "Sometimes I think it would've been better if I hadn't gone abroad."

If that were the case, he might have already ended up with Jenny, and Alec wouldn't have had the chance to come between them.

Jenny smiled but didn't say anything.

Evan drove Jenny back to the hospital. The atmosphere between them changed silently and gradually, becoming somewhat solemn and even depressing.

Soon, the car arrived at the hospital entrance. After Jenny got off, she inexplicably breathed a sigh of relief.

"I'll get back to work. Drive safely, Evan." Jenny waved to him before turning and walking into the hospital.

Evan didn't say anything but watched as Jenny walked into the hospital.

It seemed that he had to bring his plan forward; otherwise, he might not have any chance left. Although his plan was despicable, in order to win Jenny over, he had to do it no matter how dirty his hands got.

He had to make one last effort, and perhaps he could finally be together with Jenny this time.

In the hospital, Jenny was busy and unaware of Evan's plans. Helga's surgery, which she had prepared for a long time, was scheduled for that afternoon.

Perhaps because she'd interacted with Helga too much, she attached great importance to the surgery and wanted everything to proceed smoothly without a hitch.

As soon as she was back at the hospital, she began to prepare. She put the matter with Evan to the back of her mind as she got busy

To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 965-'ll Do My Best Helga's sister and Amy were already waiting at the operating room's entrance.

When they saw Jenny approaching, they both hurried over.

"Dr. Walter, the surgery…" Helga's eyes were slightly red, and she couldn't even bring herself to ask the question.

Jenny nodded to her and said, "Don't worry. I'll do my best."

"Okay." She didn't say anything else, fully aware that words were meaningless in a life-or-death situation like this. The only thing she could do was pray hard for her sister.

"Dr. Walter, will my mom be okay?" Amy didn't know what illness her mother had, but she knew her mother was about to have surgery. Her aunt told her it would be painful, so she worried.

Jenny looked down at her and smiled, "She'll definitely be fine, Amy. You have to be good, okay?"

"Okay, I'll be good and wait for my mom to come out." Amy nodded. She was around four or five years old and didn't really understand the concept of death.

Jenny entered the operating room, and the surgery began.

Handling Helga's illness wasn't difficult for Jenny. She'd done countless simulations for the surgery. Even if she closed her eyes, she could tell where the next incision should be made. Nevertheless, Jenny felt a lot of pressure this time because the thought of Helga's complicated life and Amy expectantly waiting outside the operating room weighed on her.

Fortunately, the outcome was a good one.

Four hours later, the surgery was over, and Helga was pushed into the ICU. As long as she got through the first night after the operation, there would be no major problems later.

Jenny felt that she hadn't let Amy and Helga's sister down. When she walked out of the operating room and saw them, she felt a sense of relief.

"Dr. Walter, where's my mom?" Amy asked.

"She has been transferred to a ward. You won't be able to see her for the next few days, but after that, your mom will be able to recover and be with you as you grow up." That was probably what Helga wanted the most.

Amy nodded and thanked her. "Thank you, Dr. Walter! You're a good person."

"This is what I should do. As you grow up, you must always remember to treat your mother well." Helga probably wouldn't have made it this far if it weren't for Amy.

Amy nodded like a little chick pecking at rice. Helga's sister, who was standing at the side, also thanked her, her eyes red.

Jenny beckoned to her and said, "Helga still needs to stay in the ICU for the next few days, and the nurses will take care of her. You take Amy back and rest.

When she is transferred to the general ward in a few days, you'll have to take care of her yourself."

"Sure, Dr. Walter." Helga's sister nodded.

Jenny felt that Helga's luck was not so bad after all.

Although she was sick and had met a heartless man, she had her sister and daughter, so there was still a sense of hope for her in her life.

After everything was arranged, Jenny got up and walked toward her office. After she changed her clothes, she was ready to end her shift.

She was exhausted from the surgery. Looking at the time and seeing that it was almost 8 pm, she couldn't help but feel that time passed quickly.

"Yesterday, you said you didn't need to work overtime, but you've been busy until now. Aren't you tired, Dr. Walter?" The husky voice had sounded right beside Jenny before Alec walked over and stood before her.

Jenny turned to look at the person who spoke, and her lips curled up into a smile. "Why would I feel tired when doing what I love?"

"Okay, so Dr. Walter is sacrificing her personal life for the greater good. How admirable." Alec teased and pulled her toward his car.

"What do you want to eat? I have to properly reward the hardworking Dr.

Walter." Alec started his car and turned to ask Jenny, who was seated in the passenger seat

To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 966-h Her Alec took Jenny to the grocery store. They eventually decided to cook at home.

Of course, it was mainly Alec's decision, as Jenny was already tired and wanted to have a quick meal and go home to rest. Alec insisted that she didn't need to do anything and just needed to wait for the food, so Jenny reluctantly agreed to go with him to buy groceries.

"You're the mighty Mr. Faust, yet you're buying groceries yourself. This really damages your reputation as a CEO," Jenny joked as she walked beside Alec, unable to resist teasing him.

She looked at the man, who was six feet tall and dressed in a suit and tie, standing next to her. It looked as if he was there to acquire the grocery store instead of something as banal as buying groceries. He looked very out of place in the grocery store.

"You speak as if CEOs aren't human beings," Alec replied while selecting the vegetables. "Don't we still have to eat like normal people? It's just that we can just delegate many of our tasks to others."

If it weren’t for Jenny, he naturally wouldn't appear in such a place.

He could have his helper buy the vegetables if he wanted to cook, or if he didn't feel like cooking, he could have asked his chef to whip up a delicious meal for him. But for Jenny, he wanted to do these things himself, and most importantly, he wanted to do them with her.

"Well, you do make some sense, Mr. Faust." Jenny didn't argue with him. Since Alec liked to cook, she was happy to let him do it. After all, she just needed to wait, and food will be served. She could simply sit back and enjoy herself.

Alec knew Jenny’s preferences well enough that he didn't need to ask her what she would like to eat while buying the groceries. He just chose everything himself.

When they were about to leave, Jenny saw a pair of slippers for sale and pulled Alec over. "I don't have suitable slippers for you at my house. Let's buy you a pair."

"Okay." Alec didn't refuse. Jenny's gesture of preparing these things meant she'd started to accept his frequent visits to her house. He had no reason to refuse such a good gesture.

After buying slippers for Alec, Jenny wandered around the boutique shop.

As spring approached, the shop was full of fluffy and cute stuffed animals.

Glancing at the fuzzy and adorable stuffed toys, Jenny had a warm feeling in her heart.

When Alec saw her standing in front of a small red teddy bear for a long time, he took the bear and said, "Do you like it? Just buy it if you do."

"I'm just taking a look." She liked stuffed animals but rarely bought them.

On the one hand, they weren't very practical; on the other hand, buying them made her look kind of childish.

"Dr. Walter, you're an adult, and you have every right to buy the things you like,” Alec said.

Jenny pursed her lips and didn't say anything more. Perhaps Alec was right.

She didn't need to hesitate so much and should just buy whatever she liked.

The two went home after exiting the store. Jenny was very hungry by the time they came home from the grocery store after work. "Can you give me a rough estimation of how long it will take for the food to be done? I'm not sure if I can hold on anymore."

"Very soon," Alec said. Then, he walked toward the kitchen but didn't give her an exact answer.

In the kitchen, Alec started washing the vegetables. Jenny walked in and said, "Let me help you do the prepping. You'll be in charge of cooking."

She thought they would be able to eat earlier this way.

"Okay." Alec didn't refuse either.

The two of them quickly got busy. If one didn't know better, one would think they were a couple who had been married for many years. They worked in perfect harmony, chatting and laughing all the way, looking like a peaceful and happy couple.

To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 967-. Jenny rarely cooked, so washing the vegetables was manageable, but chopping them up…not so much.

"Dr. Walter, are you just as careless when performing surgery on patients?" Alec picked up the potato strips-or, more accurately, the potato chunks.

Jenny looked a little embarrassed. "I haven’t really chopped vegetables before."

"Right, just watch from the side." Alec took the knife from her and didn't let her continue with the chopping.

Jenny became even more embarrassed and obediently stood like a child who had done something wrong. Alec covered up the laughter he was about to let out by clearing his throat and sending her downstairs to buy marinara sauce.

"Do we not have any at home?" Jenny asked. She really didn’t want to go out.

"No. I didn't notice we didn't have any," Alec replied. It had been a long time since he cooked at Jenny's house, so he'd forgotten about it. He didn't think buying any at the grocery store would be necessary either.

Upon hearing that, Jenny could only put on her shoes pitifully and go out to buy what Alec had requested.

When she got to the grocery store downstairs, the female shopkeeper, who had greeted Jenny a few times and knew she was a doctor, looked like she wanted to gossip. "Jenny, is that guy your boyfriend? I often see you two coming and going together."

"It's not like that! You misunderstood. He lives right across from me, so we often come and go together," Jenny explained.

The shopkeeper smiled mysteriously. "Is that so? Why do I feel like he looks at you differently?"

After all, she had a lot of experience and could naturally see that Alec had a different attitude toward Jenny. No one would believe that he was just a neighbor and nothing else.

Jenny smiled awkwardly. She quickly paid for the sauce and left. However, she couldn't help but think about it on the way back.

She'd gotten closer to Alec recently. Not just the shopkeeper but many people at the hospital had also asked about their relationship, and they probably thought Alec was her boyfriend. Jenny was a little frustrated, as she hadn’t really figured it all out. Perhaps she was also waiting, expecting something to happen.

In the blink of an eye, the elevator stopped. She walked out and quickly shook off those unnecessary thoughts. By the time she reached her apartment, she was back to her usual, composed self.

"Here's the sauce you wanted. Is there anything else I can help with?" Jenny asked while handing Alec the sauce.

"No. Go sit in the living room and wait for a while. We'll be able to eat soon,"

Alec said.

Alec had already started cooking, and his movements were skillful. At that moment, he didn't look like a CEO but more like a chef.

Jenny felt like laughing as she watched him. She turned around and walked to the living room. Sitting on the couch, she texted Stephanie, talking about anything and everything. Soon, they were texting about Alec cooking at Jenny's place.

Stephanie's text read, "Ahhh, I really want to come over and have a meal with you guys. I've never tasted Mr. Faust's cooking before."

Jenny glanced at the kitchen and saw that Alec was still busy. She snapped a photo sneakily and sent it to Stephanie with the message, "You won't get to try his cooking, but I can give you a peek."

Stephanie then replied, "You're right. I didn't get any food, but I've just been served a full plate of PDA."

Jenny rolled her eyes and suggested that Stephanie go find Leonard, who would surely be happy to cook for her.

Stephanie replied with a laughing emoji.

Jenny put away her phone and smiled with satisfaction. She casually checked the news for the day and found that most of it was related to the Fausts. It was then she realized how bad their situation was.

She looked at Alec, who was still in the kitchen but couldn't see any sign of distress on his face. Was he not concerned, or was he making light of it so she wouldn't worry about him?

To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 968-It's His Own Choice "What are you thinking about? I said dinner was ready, but you didn't respond.

Didn't you say you were starving?" Alec was right behind her without her noticing.

Jenny snapped out of her thoughts. "Nothing. Can we finally eat? Awesome!"

She got up and walked toward the dining table.

Alec did have a knack for cooking. In just a short while, he made three dishes and one soup, and they all looked and smelled delicious.

"Alec, if you ever go bankrupt, consider opening a small restaurant. I'll definitely come and support you." With this level of cooking skill, Jenny believed that Alec could make it big if he opened a restaurant.

Alec laughed at her suggestion and handed her a plate. "If I become the boss of a restaurant, will you be the lady boss?"

Jenny was slightly stunned and pretended not to have heard him. "These French fries taste good. Even though I cut them into huge chunks, that doesn't affect the taste, does it?"

"Is that so?" Alec asked in return, clearly implying it would be strange if the taste was the same.

Jenny nodded. "Yeah, it's the same. Don't worry about the slight differences."

Alec chuckled lightly, not wanting to argue with her. If she said it was the same, then so be it. There was no need to have a debate over the issue. After all, he made it for her to eat. As long as she was happy, that was all that mattered.

As they ate, Jenny thought of the news she'd seen about the Fausts and became worried. She asked, "Is everything okay with the Fausts? Things don't look too good."

"It's okay. Even if something happens, it has nothing to do with me," Alec replied, continuing to put food on her plate.

"Aren't you concerned that the Fausts will lose their position at the top of the Ten Elites because of this?" Jenny asked. After all, many families were eyeing that position; even her father had thought about it.

Alec smiled and looked at Jenny with fondness. "Do you think I care about those things? Besides, even if we do fall, don't I have the ability to climb back up once I officially inherit the Faust family?"

If he didn't have that ability, why would he even bother fighting for the position to become the heir?

Jenny thought his words made sense. At this point, the Faust family didn't have much to do with Alec; he was just an ordinary worker working for the Fausts.

Any trouble the Fausts faced didn't really concern him until the head officially handed over the family to him.

She didn't continue asking and felt that she'd been overthinking things.

"Evan came to see me today," Jenny suddenly said, looking at Alec.

Alec's hand that was holding a fork paused for a moment, then he quickly resumed eating like normal. "Really? What did he say to you?"

"He told me the truth," Jenny answered without being specific about the details.

"I didn't lie to you either. You didn't ask me about Xavier's matter. Besides, you already knew I did it," Alec said with a smile.

That was true. Alec had never hidden the matter from Jenny, but he hadn't told her that it was Evan who had done the deed.

"I know." Jenny nodded, not accusing Alec of lying to her.

"I'm just curious. How did you persuade Evan to help you?" Jenny asked, somewhat intrigued.

Alec felt a little embarrassed and casually replied, "It's nothing. I just have some leverage over him. If he didn't think it was something incriminating to him, he wouldn't have caved in and let me have control over him."

"I see." Jenny nodded thoughtfully but didn't ask any more questions.

After a moment of contemplation, she suddenly asked, "Do you think I can convince Evan to give up the path he’s currently on?"

Alec stopped his movements, and upon seeing that Jenny wasn't joking, his expression became serious. "It's very unlikely."

He knew how difficult it had been for Evan to get to where he was today. If he were to give up just because Jenny wanted him to, he wouldn't have made it to this point.

"That's what I thought too. I talked to him today, but he refused." Jenny sighed bitterly. She really didn't want to see him get into trouble.

"Don't overthink it. You've done your best. It's his own choice." Alec was not surprised by Evan's refusal to give it all up. He would be surprised if it was the contrary.

Jenny sighed again and forced a smile. "Yeah, I know. I'm just chatting about this matter casually."

That topic ended there, and neither of them spoke again. They finished their meal in silence.

After seeing Alec off, Jenny returned to her room and lay on the bed, feeling exhausted. She was exhausted from the events of the day, so she quickly fell into a deep slumber

To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 969-Yakov Takes Over The atmosphere in the Faust family was oppressive. First, Zeke's eldest son passed away. Then, his eldest grandson was sent to prison. He'd lived many years but had never encountered such a bleak situation.

In the living room, the whole Faust family was silent. Julian looked at his father and grandfather, then turned to his sister for help.

"Isabelle, when can we leave?"

Their grandfather called them over to have dinner, but now he wouldn't let them go. Julian had never liked staying in Faust Manor, so he moved out as soon as he became an adult. He rarely spent as much time there as he did today.

Isabelle gave him a cold look and said, "Be quiet. Can't you read the situation now?"

Their grandfather obviously had something to say, and it was likely related to the current situation of the Faust family. Julian didn't offer any valuable suggestions but was in a hurry to leave instead. If Zeke knew, he would be furious.

Julian was dismayed at her reply. He'd made plans to go out with his friends that night. If he didn't leave soon, he'd miss out on the chance to join them. Although he couldn’t wait to leave, he dared not say it out loud. He didn’t want to provoke his grandfather.

After a while, Zeke sighed heavily. "Yakov, you're aware of our situation right now, aren't you?"

"Yes.” Yakov nodded.

"Tell me. What do you think?" Zeke looked at him, but he didn't have much hope for his second son. Although he was meticulous in his thinking, he was too verbose and couldn’t accomplish great things.

However, Zeke didn't have much of a choice now.

Yakov raised his head and looked at his father. "It's obvious that someone is targeting our family, intentionally releasing some bad news about us to cause panic among outsiders."

In just a few days, Faust Group's stock had hit several consecutive daily limit downs, and they’d had lost at least tens of billions in their market value. But that wasn't the most crucial point, as the market value would eventually recover as long as the crisis subsided. The key concern now was thinking of a way to resolve the current crisis.

"You're right," Zeke agreed. He knew who was behind all the trouble, but he chose not to disclose it explicitly.

He said to Yakov, "Now that your elder brother is gone, and Luke won't get out of prison any time soon, the Fausts are in your care now."

Although he didn't trust Yakov's abilities, he had no choice but to put him to the task. Yakov wasn't very capable, but Zeke believed that his second son could become a fitting head of the family with his patient guidance. After all, both his sons were intelligent.

"Don't worry, Dad. I won't let the Fausts fall into the hands of others!" With those words, Yakov would take on the responsibility of leading the Fausts and sorting out the mess it was currently in.

Zeke nodded with satisfaction. If Yakov could resolve everything perfectly this time, he would announce to the outside world that he'd officially handed over the Faust family to him. Even if Alec had objections to it, what could he do? After all, Faust Group's shares were in Zeke's hands, and he could give them to whomever he wanted. No matter how powerful Alec was, he couldn't control Zeke's will.

Upon leaving Faust Manor, Julian took a deep breath of the fresh air outside and looked at his father standing beside him. "Dad, are you really going to take over the family?"

"What else can I do? With the current situation, the family will fall into Alec's hands if I don't take over." His thoughts were the same as Zeke's-Alec was an outsider to the main family, even if he was a Faust. Although Julian didn't really care for their family affairs, the death of Xavier affected him deeply.

"That's true. But I'm afraid of Alec…"

"Don't worry. I can protect myself." Besides, would Alec dare to attack him? His guess was Alec wasn't so bold as to make another drastic move like that unless he wanted to spend the rest of his life in prison.

To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 970-You Better Not Repeat Those Words Julian sighed and muttered, "Actually, I don't think handing the company over to Alec is a bad idea. He's more capable than all of us, and with him managing Faust Group, we can make more money each year. Isn't it good to earn money like that without working hard?"

He couldn’t understand why it was so hard for his father and the late Xavier to accept Alec taking over the Faust family.

Before Yakov could even rebuke him, Isabelle, standing beside them, couldn't take it anymore. "Shut up! Do you really think Alec is a good person? If we hand the family over to him, are you sure we can survive?"

"Isabelle…"

"We won't force you to fight for the position of becoming the heir, but you better not repeat those words again," Isabelle interrupted Julian and didn't want to hear him say another word.

Julian murmured a perfunctory "Okay." It was unclear whether he’d really taken his sister’s words seriously.

Yakov glanced at him and didn't say anything further.' Alright, let's go home."

Three days later, it was Harvey Spade's funeral. Jenny promised to come and pay her respects to Harvey, and she showed up at the cemetery as promised, holding some white roses. She followed the crowd and placed the flowers by Harvey's coffin, then walked toward Christopher to offer her condolences.

"I'm sorry for your loss. How are you holding up?"

"Thank you. I'm fine," Christopher replied. Over the past few days, while handling his grandfather's funeral, he'd seen the true colors of everyone in the Spade family. He wouldn't show any weakness in front of outsiders.

Jenny nodded and said nothing else as she moved over to the side.

Alexandra also came to pay her respects to Harvey, and she was now standing next to Christopher. Although Christopher and Jenny hadn't said much to each other, and everything seemed normal, she felt very uncomfortable. Perhaps it was because Christopher had previously been very fond of Jenny, so when Alexandra saw her appear, she felt a sense of danger.

Christopher wasn't in the mood to concern himself over his girlfriend's apprehension. After everyone had finished paying their respects, he signaled for the burial to be carried out and didn't show much emotion on his face.

By noon, most of the guests had already left. Jenny walked up to offer some words of comfort before leaving herself. However, before she could even get close to Christopher, she was intercepted by Alexandra.

"Miss Walter, Christopher isn't in a good mood today and may not have time to entertain you. It's best if you just leave. If Jenny raised an eyebrow, looking slightly amused. "Can you make decisions on behalf of Christopher now? If I remember correctly, you haven't gotten married to him and become one of the Spades yet."

Jenny felt it was unreasonable to leave without saying a word to Christopher. If she did that, Christopher might even think she was being rude.

"I'm just suggesting. After all, I don't want Christopher to be too tired," Alexandra countered.

"I understand your concern for him. But as a guest, it's necessary for me to say goodbye before leaving. Otherwise, wouldn't it make me seem rude?" Jenny asked.

Seeing Jenny's persistence, Alexandra couldn't help but ask, "Do you really just want to say goodbye to Christopher, or is there something else on your mind?"

Jenny felt a bit frustrated. Were all women like this? As soon as other women talked to their boyfriends, they would assume those women were interested in their boyfriends.

"Since you're Christopher's girlfriend, you should be familiar with his past, right?"

Alexandra's expression changed slightly, her displeasure becoming more evident. "I know Christopher once pursued you, but that's in the past. Right now, I'm his girlfriend."

Jenny thought Christopher wouldn't be able to stand someone like Alexandra for long.

Of course, she would never say that out loud. Otherwise, Alexandra would probably pick a fight with her on the spot
