Ch. 951..960
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 951-erk Rural villages often had no internet connection, and little was known about it, making it difficult for anyone outside to find information. It made Jenny think that Lynette might have come from a rural village.
If that really was the case, it would be difficult to find Lynette.
"There's no way your mother is from some rural village," Graham said confidently. Jenny remained silent, waiting for him to continue. "Although she has not specifically told me about her family, given her behavior and how she recognized various brands, she should be from a well-to-do family."
He remembered that he had given Lynette many things, including some famous brands and even some expensive but niche brands, but Lynette could recognize them all, which proved that she had exposure to those things.
"If that's the case, there is only one possibility."
Someone was hiding Lynette's identity, which made it impossible for them to find her.
Graham turned solemn as he knew anyone who could do that had to have a powerful background. After all, the Walters was already one of the Ten Elites of Bardoff City, if not the whole country. It was rare for anyone to be able to hide information from them.
After a long time, Graham sighed. "I will continue to investigate. After I meet that person today, I should be able to know everything."
"Okay, be careful," Jenny was worried that something might go wrong.
After hanging up, Jenny also searched online for any traces of Lynette, but as Graham said, there was no information to be found, not even when she searched the surname, York.
Her thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the door. A patient had pressed the call button, and she got up and walked out of the office, no longer dwelling on Lynette's matter.
When she arrived at the ward, Jenny was surprised to see that Helga had pressed the call button. She looked like she had just cried.
"What's wrong?" Jenny asked, noticing a man next to her bed.
Seeing Jenny, Helga felt very guilty. "Dr. Walter, it's nothing. I pressed the wrong button."
Before Jenny could say anything, the man said, "No, I pressed the button. You must be Jenny Walter?"
Jenny frowned. "Are you Hugo Hansel?"
She remembered Helga's husband's name, although she wasn't sure if the man in front of her was him.
"Yes." He nodded, confirming Jenny's guess.
"What's the matter? Don't you know that you're not allowed to disturb a patient's rest?” Jenny was displeased. Helga would have surgery soon, and any disturbance could have serious consequences.
Hugo didn't care what Jenny said. He pointed at Helga and said, "The divorce cooling-off period has ended, but she still doesn't want to divorce. What does she want? Does she want to siphon everything from my family?"
He had already spent a lot of money paying for Helga's treatment and didn't want to spend any more.
"I've already told you. I didn't mean to not go. I'm in the hospital, can't you see?"
Helga's heart felt cold and heavy. She couldn't understand how she could have been attracted to a man like that in the first place.
She tolerated his mistress, who was impatient to replace her. She was willing to divorce her scum of a husband, but she was still hospitalized. She had promised to go and handle the divorce procedures once she was discharged, but Hugo still urged her and insisted that she go that day.
Frustrated, she cried. She couldn't understand how the man managed to be such an utter jerk!
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 952-Don't Get Too Worked Up Hugo didn't care.
"How dare you delay the divorce just because you're hospitalized? How much time would it take for you to sign the papers? I think you just don't want to leave and want to keep spending my family's money!"
"Hugo!" Helga was exasperated, and her chest was heaving violently. ' How much of your money have I spent? How can you be so heartless?"
She only spent the money she earned and hadn't spent a single dime while staying in the hospital. How could he say such things without betraying his conscience?
"Don't get too worked up." Jenny walked over to calm Helga down. She looked at Hugo and said coldly, "Given her current condition, she cannot be discharged.
Are you willing to be responsible if something happens to her?"
"What can happen? I think you're just taking her side." Hugo muttered softly. He was not as harsh toward Jenny as with Helga, but he still wasn't polite to her.
Helga was so furious that she began coughing violently.
Jenny knew that things couldn't go on like that. Hence, she looked at Helga and asked, "Do you want a divorce?"
"I do. Why wouldn't I?" She didn't want to spend even a day more with that jerk.
"Okay, I'll take you there." With her around, she could be rescued in time, even if something unexpected happened.
The most important thing was that if they didn't solve the divorce issue, Hugo would frequently come to the hospital to cause trouble, which would be very detrimental to Helga.
Helga nearly cried when she heard that. "Dr. Walter, it would be such a hassle for you…"
"It's okay. It's not a problem." Jenny shook her head and looked at Hugo. "Did you bring the divorce papers?"
"Of course." Hugo was happy to hear that Jenny was willing to bring Helga out of the hospital to go through with the divorce procedures. He wanted to divorce her immediately. Without going through the formalities, he would not be at ease.
Jenny took a few glances and then frowned, "Amy goes to Helga while the house, car, and savings go to each of you? This won't work."
After saying that, she flung the papers back at him. "Split the house, car, and savings. 50% for each person."
"Hey…she has agreed to it already." Hugo was upset as he didn't expect Jenny to interfere in their matters. "And because she is sick, she has already spent a lot of money, and these things aren't hers in the first place."
Hearing those words, Helga felt a stab of pain in her heart. Even though she already knew how heartless this man was, it still pained her to be reminded of it.
Sighing, she looked at Jenny and said, "Dr. Walter, just give it all to him. I don't want anything to do with him anymore."
Jenny looked at her and asked, "You're just making things easy for him. Look, you must fight for what is rightfully yours. Even if you don't want to do it for yourself, you have to think of Amy."
The money from the charity fund would only cover the surgery and postoperative care. Once they left the hospital, she and Amy needed money to survive.
"Well, the savings will be given to Helga while the house and car will be yours. If you don't mind, I'll have someone prepare a new agreement. You can get a divorce now. If you don't want to, we won't go through with it. If Helga borrows a large sum of money and can't repay it, you will also have to repay it," Jenny said.
Hugo glared at Helga. "You already agreed to it, and now you want to back out?
Have you not spent enough of my money? How dare you ask for more?"
Helga remained calm. She had wanted to persuade Jenny to give up, but now she changed her mind.
"Why wouldn't I want what's mine? What do you mean by ' your money'? Don't I have a share of that money too? Be grateful that I didn't ask for half of the house."
In fact, they had bought the house together after they got married, so she should have had half of it. However, she didn't want to live there and knew that Hugo would never agree to give her the house, so she thought Jenny's proposal to give her the savings was a good option.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 953-
Hugo never imagined Helga would dare talk to him like that.
Pointing at her, he shouted, "Fine, woman! Before this, you pretended like you didn't want anything, but now you are fighting me on this. What can you do to me if I don't give in?"
"If you don't give in, I won't agree to the divorce!" Helga sneered. Anyway, she wasn't the one who was in a hurry.
Hearing her say that, Hugo was furious. "No way! We must divorce!"
"If you want a divorce, give me the savings!" Helga now understood that she had no reason to give Hugo's mistress any advantage. How could she and her daughter live if she gave them everything?
Hugo's face turned red with anger, but he still had no intention of agreeing.
Jenny couldn't stand it any longer and said to him, "Hugo, even if you look past the fact that Helga has been your wife for many years, you should still think of your child. She is still young. Can you bear to let her live in poverty? She calls you 'dad.' The savings is not much for you. You still have a house and a car. If she loves you, she won't leave you just because you lose a little money."
Unexpectedly, Jenny spoke to him in a kind tone. It was mainly because she didn't want Helga to be entangled with him any longer, so she decided to do anything he could to bring their divorce earlier.
As expected, when Hugo heard his daughter's name, his expression changed slightly. "I'll make a phone call to discuss it."
Helga was angry. It was common practice to divide marital property if anyone divorced. Why did he have to discuss it with someone else?
Seeing that, Jenny stopped her from speaking in time and shook her head at her.
Hugo walked out of the ward, and Jenny said, "Let him go and negotiate. If they are in a hurry to get a divorce, they will agree."
"I'm just so angry!" Helga said.
"You have known what kind of person Hugo is for a long time. Why are you still angry over his actions?"
If Jenny were in her shoes, she would have lost all hope in him long ago. She wouldn't even be surprised by his actions.
Helga nodded after a moment of stunned silence. "Dr.
Walter, you're right. I should have seen his true colors a long time ago."
She wouldn't be disappointed that day if she didn't keep hoping. She was angry because he was still in her heart. A part of her kept thinking about the beautiful memories they had shared. However, those days would never come back.
Soon, Hugo agreed to the divorce agreement as Jenny had expected. Then, Jenny took Helga out of the hospital and drove her to the court.
Hugo tried to enter the car, but Jenny closed the door in his face, saying, "Mr.
Hansel, I'm sure you have enough money to take a cab, right?"
After saying that, Jenny started the car and left, leaving an angry Hugo behind.
Gritting his teeth, he hailed a cab to catch up.
Because they had reached an agreement, the process was very smooth. It only took a few minutes for their marriage certificate to be replaced by a divorce certificate, turning them into strangers.
Helga looked at the divorce certificate, her eyes filled with tears. However, she refused to let any tears fall. Perhaps because he had already achieved her goal, Hugo began to act like a good person, saying, "I'll go see Amy if I have time."
"There's no need for that. She’s my daughter, and I'll take care of her." Hugo wasn't fit to be a father, so it would be better if he didn't show up at all.
Hugo wanted to say more, but Helga was not in the mood to listen. "Dr. Walter, please take me back to the hospital."
"Okay." Jenny nodded without even casting a glance at Hugo.
What went around came around. Jenny believed that Hugo's retribution was just around the corner.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 954-Shut Up!
After sending Helga back to the hospital and ensuring she was fine, Jenny left the ward. It was already time to get off work, and she remembered that she had made plans to have dinner with Stephanie, Leonard, and Alec that evening.
Since she planned it, she couldn’t be late.
She hurriedly packed her things and headed out of the hospital. Alec was already waiting for her at the entrance.
"Dr. Walter, please get in the car." Alec waved to her, calling her Dr. Walter on purpose.
Jenny glanced at him but didn't comment on it. "Come on, let's head to the restaurant."
"Okay." Alec nodded, opening the passenger door for Jenny before getting into the driver's seat. The car pulled away, and the two departed from the hospital.
Across the hospital entrance, Evan sat in his car, looking in the direction they had gone for a long time without moving.
"We suffered heavy losses this time. Almost none of the people we brought back from overseas are left. We're in big trouble," Howard Young said, oblivious to Evan's unusual behavior.
He was one of his men who returned from abroad with him and his confidant.
"Many people have started investigating your background.
Once the truth is uncovered, many enemies will come looking for us," Howard elaborated, full of concern.
Evan had been the leader of an overseas mercenary group for many years and attacked many people from his home country. He would end the target's life as instructed as long as there was money. Therefore, he had offended many people.
It didn't matter that much when he was abroad. Now that he was back in his home country and had lost many of his men, he would suffer greatly if his enemies came looking for him.
Evan merely hummed in agreement.
Feeling anxious, Howard asked, "Why don't we go back?"
After all, they were not in their home ground, they had fewer people, and the authorities were strict. They had no advantage remaining there.
His suggestion stunned Evan, as he had never considered that option.
"No need. If we leave now, won't we be laughed at?" Evan sneered. Even though he had lost many people, he didn't seem worried in the least.
The sight of that didn't reassure Howard. Glancing at Evan, he asked cautiously, "Are you reluctant to leave because of Jenny?"
Evan's expression changed immediately, and he looked at Howard. "You've crossed the line!"
"Look, I know you're unhappy, but I have to say it. Jenny is too big for people of the likes of us to handle. You two are from different worlds. You cannot be together," Howard said.
Evan's expression turned uglier with every word.
"Just forget about her," Howard continued. "You can get any woman you want.
Why do you care so much for a woman like Jenny?"
Evan's gun had already been loaded at some point, and now it was aimed at Howard's temple. "It’s none of your business, understand?"
"Shut up!" Evan interrupted him, not wanting to listen any further. "Drive!"
Howard gritted his teeth and remained quiet. He felt his resentment towards Jenny growing. If it weren't for her, Evan wouldn't have returned to his home country, and the lives of his colleagues wouldn't have been lost.
On top of that, Evan seemed to be smitten with her. Although nothing had happened yet, who could guarantee what would happen in the future?
He wondered if he should do something about it. He couldn't just watch Evan go down like that, could he?
Howard's thoughts were unknown to Evan. At this moment, he was thinking about when he should go look for Jenny.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 955-You Are Thinking Too Little Jenny and Alec had chosen the restaurant and had already taken their seats.
They were waiting for Stephanie and Leonard to arrive.
"By the way, did Leonard agree to come?" Jenny suddenly remembered to ask Alec. If Leonard didn’t, their efforts would have been in vain.
Alec glanced at her and chuckled helplessly, "Do you have so little confidence in me? Do you think I can't handle him?"
Although Leonard had an unyielding personality and was not easily manipulated by others, Alec understood men to a certain extent.
In terms of interests, Alec offered something Leonard would find hard to refuse.
In terms of romance, Stephanie was there, giving him less reason to refuse Alec's invitation.
Just then, Leonard appeared at the entrance of the restaurant. To Jenny's surprise, Stephanie arrived with him. The sight of them made Jenny smile instantly, wondering if it was fate that they came at the same time.
Jenny waved at the two of them, gesturing for them to come over and sit down.
Stephanie sat next to Jenny, while Leonard naturally sat next to Alec.
The two men didn't say much, just nodded at each other in greeting.
"Did you come together?" Jenny asked. She was curious as Leonard didn't need to drive past the Walker family's place if he had come from the police station.
Stephanie glanced at Leonard, who said, "I went to pick Stephanie up."
Jenny was surprised. She had intended to matchmake these two, but looking at the situation, it seemed there was no need for her to do that.
"Mr. Sullivan, you really care about Stephanie," Jenny commented with a grin, and her words could not be more direct.
Stephanie hurriedly waved her hand and explained, "You are thinking too much.
Leonard just wanted to catch up with me regarding our other classmates, so he came to pick me up."
Leonard smiled faintly and kept quiet. He said to Jenny," Just call me Leonard.
You are Stephanie's friend, and any friend of Stephanie's is a friend of mine."
Jenny grinned. Did Stephanie think that Jenny was thinking too much? Perhaps Stephanie was the one thinking too little.
After placing their order, the four of them began to chat. Jenny asked Leonard many questions as she wanted to understand what kind of person he was and whether he was worth Stephanie's affection. The more she got to know him, the more satisfied she was with Leonard, and it showed through the stupid grin on her face.
Seeing through her, Stephanie blushed in embarrassment.
Pulling Jenny up, she announced, "You guys carry on. Jenny and I will go to the restroom."
Without waiting for Jenny to speak, she pulled her toward the restroom.
After the two of them left, the table suddenly fell silent.
Leonard and Alec were not familiar with each other, and there was not much to say between the two men.
However, Alec had come to meet Leonard today for a reason. "Mr. Sullivan, have you ever thought about your future?"
Leonard looked at him and said, "Of course. If I hadn't thought about it, I wouldn't have agreed when you invited me, Mr. Faust." Alec had been looking for him, and he had some guesses as to why.
"That's not necessarily true. Since you knew that Stephanie would be here, wouldn't you come even if I didn't?"
Before that, it had only been a hunch. However, from their interactions over dinner, it was clear that Leonard was interested in Stephanie. Truth be told, it had nothing to do with Alec, and he was even happy for them.
However, at the thought of his friend Paul, he decided he should stand by him.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 956-Do You Still Like Him?
Leonard smiled as he took a sip from his glass.
"Do you really need to ask that, Mr. Faust?" Alec returned his smile. If it wasn't for Paul, he would think that Leonard and Stephanie were quite suitable for each other. He sighed inwardly and worried about Paul. How could he deal with such a strong competitor?
"Mr. Faust, why don't we talk about our cooperation?" He was unfamiliar with Alec and didn't want to talk to him about Stephanie. Alec regained his composure and began explaining the cooperation he had in mind.
Meanwhile, in the restroom, Stephanie was annoyed with Jenny.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Jenny asked, a little puzzled.
"What are you trying to do? Why did you ask Leonard so many questions?"
Stephanie pretended to be displeased. Although she knew that Jenny meant no harm, asking so many questions on their first meeting was inappropriate.
Although they had met at the police station before, this was their first proper meeting.
Jenny's grin grew wider, and she replied, "I just want to get to know Leonard better."
"What do you want to know about him? And are you planning to dump Alec for him?" Stephanie gave her a look that showed that she thought Jenny was making a fuss about nothing.
Jenny couldn't stop smiling. "Why did I ask him those questions? What do you think?"
Stephanie happened to meet Jenny's gaze, so it was too late for her to back out.
"I don't know."
"Really? Then why is your face turning red?" Jenny asked.
Stephanie reached out and touched her face, feeling a little hot. Even if she didn't look in the mirror, she could imagine how red her cheeks were. "Well, it's pretty cold in here."
Jenny gave her a look.
"Okay, Stephanie, quit playing pretend with me. Leonard is interested in you.
Can't you see that?" Jenny asked.
Stephanie fell silent.
"I think he's a good person, so I just want to ask you, what do you think of him?"
Jenny continued to speak.
Although Stephanie knew what Jenny was trying to do, she still found it hard to digest when Jenny confronted her about it.
"Jenny, since when did you start playing matchmaker?
You're not Cupid. Why do you care so much?"
"Well, I can choose not to care about other people's business, but I'm afraid that doesn't apply to you." Jenny rolled her eyes. As a friend, she couldn't just stand by and watch Stephanie waste her time with Paul, especially since she had always felt that Stephanie and Paul were not very suitable for each other.
Stephanie grew up pampered by her family and was a carefree little princess.
She needed a man who could take care of her for the rest of her life so that she could continue living an ordinary, carefree life.
Obviously, Paul couldn't give her that because his life was too complicated.
Before Stephanie officially got together with him, there were already so many problems. Who knew what might happen in the future if they were really together?
Stephanie felt a bit anxious, not because of Jenny's confrontation, but because of the turmoil she felt inside.
"Jenny, I know that Leonard is an excellent man, but I really don’t feel that way about him right now." Stephanie sighed, feeling a little frustrated.
Jenny didn't press the topic further. Instead, she said, "We didn't call for dinner today only to set you two up. In fact, Alec has something to discuss with him, so don't think too much about it. The most important thing is, what kind of feelings do you have towards Paul? Do you still like him?"
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 957-Aren't You Busy?
Jenny and Stephanie returned to the dining table to see Leonard and Alec chatting happily. It seemed that their cooperation was going well.
Jenny turned to look at Stephanie. She didn't get an answer to her question when she asked Stephanie whether she still liked Paul. Stephanie said she didn't know.
Although she had rejected that man many times, she would occasionally think of him and couldn’t let go of their past as easily as she had imagined. It didn't seem right if she said she didn't have any feelings for him.
"Stephanie," Leonard called. He was sitting opposite her, looking at her. "What are you thinking about?"
He noticed that Stephanie's gaze drifted off, and she didn't react when he helped her with the food.
"Huh? Nothing,” Stephanie said, feeling a bit embarrassed. There was no way she could admit that she had been thinking about Paul.
"If there's anything I can help with, let me know. Don't be shy, " Leonard said.
They weren't close to each other, even though they were old classmates who hadn't seen each other for many years. In fact, their relationship was not much different from that of strangers. Therefore, he wasn't in a rush, as any relationship needed time to grow.
Stephanie nodded, although she did not quite understand what Leonard meant.
Did she need any help? She didn’t know.
Seeing the two of them fall into silence, Jenny felt frustrated. "Leonard, are you alone in Bardoff City now? Are you married?"
"Yes, I'm alone in Bardoff City, and I'm not married," Leonard replied.
Jenny had guessed he wasn't married, but she still wanted to make sure. "Then you should be rather bored after work, right?"
"I'm alright. I work overtime a lot," Leonard answered. There was a lot of work at the police station, and he worked late into the night every day, so he wasn't that bored.
Jenny smiled and said, "We can all hang out if we're free. Stephanie and I are usually not that busy."
Well, it was mainly Stephanie who wasn't busy.
"Alright," Leonard agreed. He could see that Jenny was trying to set him up with Stephanie, which was fine with him. It seemed that his chances of success had increased a little.
"Aren't you busy?” Alec asked her with a hint of annoyance in his voice.
Jenny grinned and nodded. "Not really, actually. Well, I'm not as busy as you, that's for sure."
Alec was rendered speechless. Turning to Leonard, he said," She's just talking nonsense. Don't take her seriously. If you want to make plans, just invite Stephanie."
"Sure." Leonard didn't mind. The four of them chatted and laughed, but Stephanie remained silent.
She mainly hadn't figured out how to face Leonard, so she couldn't bring herself to talk and laugh with him.
While the four of them had their dinner, they didn't notice that there was someone else sitting in the corner of the restaurant, whose gaze had never left them. To be exact, his gaze never left Stephanie.
Alec's sharp senses detected something amiss. When he spotted the man, he was frustrated. What was Paul doing here?
Was it a coincidence? Obviously not.
Jenny happened to glance in that direction and noticed that it was Paul. She didn't find it surprising. She expected no less from a control freak like him.
Perhaps even to this day, Paul still regarded Stephanie as his woman. He certainly wouldn't be happy to see Stephanie having a meal with another man.
Jenny couldn't be bothered to pay attention to him and didn't point him out to the rest. Instead, she continued to chat with them with a smile.
Alec, on the other hand, couldn't ignore Paul like Jenny. He made an excuse to leave the table and walked over to Paul.
"What do you want?" Alec demanded solemnly, sitting across Paul.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 958-Are You Telling Me to Give Up?
Paul took a sip of his drink and looked at Alec, who sat across from him. "I'm here to have a meal. What else?"
"If Stephanie sees you, she might not think the same way," Alec retorted with a roll of his eyes. Stephanie was very annoyed with Paul constantly monitoring her, but he didn't seem to know how to control himself.
Paul frowned at that comment. "What are you and Jenny up to? Are you two opposing me on purpose?"
Even a fool could tell what they were trying to do.
"You're overthinking it. I met with Leonard to discuss the possibility of working with him. As for anything that's going on between him and Stephanie, I have no right to intervene," Alec replied.
Before Paul could say anything, he continued, "However, what Jenny wants to do is her own business."
"Her own business?" Paul sneered. "She's just nosy. What does my relationship with Stephanie have anything to do with her?"
"She and Stephanie are good friends. How is that none of her business?" Alec questioned.
Paul wanted to argue, but Alec beat him to it. "Jenny thinks you're bad for Stephanie, and it's all because you couldn't hold yourself back. All those things you did in the past have made her think you're unreliable. Isn't it normal for her to worry?"
"That's all in the past now." Paul wanted to clarify that he wasn't the same person anymore.
Alec didn't speak but just stared at him. If Paul had changed his ways, Alec wouldn't have seen him here today.
Paul understood the meaning behind Alec's silence. He gritted his teeth and unwillingly said, "I just came to take a look. If it were you, could you remain indifferent?"
Paul thought the way he reacted to finding out the woman he liked being in contact with another man was very reasonable.
"You're not wrong, but you have to consider Stephanie's view on the matter." If Stephanie knew he was here, she would be even more repulsed by him.
Alec heard a sigh and looked over, only to see Paul's downcast eyes. "Paul, if you like her, you must learn to control yourself."
"Am I not controlling myself enough?" Paul retorted.
If he didn't like Stephanie, he would have made a move on her the day he arrived in Bardoff City. Despite his coming to this city for some time already, he hadn't made a move on her, nor had he stirred up any trouble for the Walters.
Wasn't that sufficient proof of his sincerity? Did Jenny really think he was afraid of her?
"I understand how difficult this is for you, but other people are unable to do the same. They only see what you've done. You need to do twice as much to make up for the mistakes you made in the past."
Changing others' perceptions of someone who had committed grave errors couldn't be done overnight.
Paul drank his tea and nodded helplessly. "I understand what you're saying, but there's one thing I can never be sure of. Even if I put in double the effort to make up for my mistakes and change, will Stephanie come back to me?"
He was afraid that he would end up with nothing. The feeling became more and more apparent after Leonard appeared. Previously, Stephanie had come into contact with other men, but he'd never worried before because he could sense that Stephanie wasn't interested in any of those men; she didn't show even a tiny bit of intrigue toward them.
But Leonard was different. Paul could tell that Stephanie treated him differently.
Alec knew of his worries and could also see Stephanie's difference in attitude toward Leonard.
"Paul, you have no choice now. It's because you didn't cherish her in the first place. Why don't you just give up? That'd be better for both of you."
Alec thought they should each go and pursue their own happiness. Perhaps that would be a better alternative for both parties.
Nevertheless, what he'd said made Paul's gaze toward him turn unfriendly. "Are you telling me to give up?"
"I just think it might be better this way," Alec replied.
"I've also told you to give up on Jenny before. And what did you say to that?"
Paul sneered, mocking inwardly that it would always be hoes before bros. Alec only wanted him to give up because he wanted to help Jenny.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 959-Only One Goal As they couldn't continue the conversation, Alec didn't force it. "Don't worry, I meant what I said earlier. I won't interfere with what's going on between Stephanie and Leonard. But there's one thing I have to make clear." Alec then looked at Paul with a cold gaze. "If you dare to lay a finger on Jenny, don't blame me for disregarding our brotherhood."
He knew Paul well. If Jenny brought Stephanie and Leonard together, Paul would blame Jenny for it. If that happened, there was a high possibility that Paul might resort to something irrational.
Paul didn't say anything, so Alec stopped talking. Some things only needed to be said once.
Alec got up and made to leave. "You should go back."
Then, he turned around and walked back to Jenny. Whether Paul took his advice and left wasn't something he could control, so he wasn't concerned about it.
After the four of them had dinner, they didn't rush to go home but strolled along the riverbank. Jenny and Alec walked in front, deliberately giving some privacy to Stephanie and Leonard.
"What did you say to Paul just now?" Jenny asked, feeling curious.
"What else could I say? It was the same old." Alec turned his head to glance at her as he smiled helplessly.
"He…Does he have any intention of making a move against Steph?" Jenny asked cautiously. If Paul was going to resort to that, she would have to be prepared.
Alec sighed. He knew what Jenny was thinking. "Don't worry, Paul has really changed for the better. He won't do that now. w Jenny wasn’t sure about that. Stephanie was just having a meal with Leonard, but Paul came to check on them. If they really got together, could Paul endure it?
"Jenny." Alec suddenly called her name.
Jenny looked at him in confusion. "Paul is my friend. Although he has done many wrong things in the past, can you give him another chance?"
Jenny was puzzled. "It's not like he likes me. Why would I need to give him a chance?"
The one who should give him a chance was Stephanie.
"You're Stephanie's friend. If you’re willing to give him a chance, then Stephanie will naturally be willing too," Alec replied.
Although he said he wouldn't get involved in their affairs, he couldn't ignore his buddy and do nothing about it. He could imagine how desperate Paul would be if Stephanie really got together with Leonard. Stephanie was the last ray of light for Paul. If he lost her, Alec didn't know how he would survive.
Upon hearing what Alec said, Jenny stopped in her tracks, her expression solemn.
"Alec, I hope you understand one thing. Steph is my friend. My goal has always been the same—I want her to have all the happiness she deserves. If she still likes Paul and insists on being with him, though I may not be optimistic about it, I won't stop her. I'll even give her my blessing. But if she doesn't like Paul anymore and wants to get together with Leonard in the future, I'll give her my full support." Jenny took a deep breath and concluded, "For me, it doesn't matter if she chooses Paul or Leonard in the end. What matters is that she's happy."
As long as it was Stephanie's choice, she would accept anyone regardless of who they were.
Hearing Jenny's serious reply, he understood what she meant. Hence, he didn't intend to continue with that topic. ” Okay, let's not talk about this. Why don't we talk about something else?"
Although Stephanie and Paul were their respective friends, they had to figure out what to do with their own lives themselves.
Instead of worrying about others, Alec thought he should worry about himself.
After all, until now, Jenny still hadn't agreed to get back together with him.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 960-Have I Charmed You Too?
Behind them, Stephanie and Leonard walked together.
The weather was freezing on this chilly winter night, and Stephanie couldn't help but shiver. She regretted agreeing to go for a walk with Jenny and the others. It was so cold! They should have gone home to rest instead of going for a walk.
Stephanie questioned wordlessly in her heart as to why they were making themselves suffer.
As she was complaining about the situation inwardly, warmth suddenly enveloped her. She turned and realized that Leonard had draped his coat over her.
"No, it's okay…" Stephanie tried to refuse and made to return his coat.
But Leonard didn't give her the chance to do so. He held her shoulders firmly, not letting her take it off. "Keep it on. I'm not cold."
Not cold? That was obviously a lie. Seeing how insistent Leonard was, Stephanie stopped refusing him. "Thank you."
"Speaking of which, we haven't been in touch for over ten years. Have you been doing well all these years?" Leonard casually asked, trying to ease the awkwardness between them.
Stephanie nodded. "I'm doing pretty well."
It didn't matter whether she was doing well or not. There were many things she couldn't talk about with Leonard.
"That's good. I've been busy working all these years and haven't thought of contacting our classmates from back then. I don't know how everyone's been doing." Leonard sighed.
After he graduated, he joined the police force and started off as a rookie police officer and worked his way up to where he was today. He couldn't quite talk to anyone about the bitterness and difficulties he encountered.
Running into Stephanie in Bardoff City was something unexpected for him.
However, that coincidental encounter ignited a sense of hope in his heart.
Hearing him say that, Stephanie smiled. "I haven't been in touch with our other classmates either. Even if I did, it would just be a casual 'like' on their posts on social media. But you look much more handsome now compared to back then. If our classmates found out that the chubby kid has turned into a hottie, they'd be surprised."
She looked at Leonard. Undeniably, Leonard was really handsome after he'd slimmed down. She would never have guessed that he was her former classmate if he hadn't revealed his identity.
Leonard also smiled with a hint of embarrassment. "I was under a lot of pressure to do well back then, so I gained weight because of the stress. After I went to the police academy and exercised every day, I naturally lost weight."
"That's great," Stephanie complimented.
"What about you? I heard you're working in your own company now." Leonard said.
Stephanie nodded and replied, "Yes, I'm helping my parents. They're getting older, after all. I can't be as wilful as I was when I was younger."
If it weren't for Paul's appearance, Stephanie felt she might still be living her life as a spoiled rich kid and wouldn't be able to understand her parents' difficulties.
But because of Paul, everything changed.
"Look at you being all wise. You're still young now," Leonard said with a chuckle, "and you're very pretty."
Feeling embarrassed by his appreciative gaze, Stephanie said, "You don't have to flatter me on purpose. I'm almost thirty."
"If you put it that way, doesn't that mean I'm an old man?" After all, he was slightly older than Stephanie.
Stephanie put up her hands, feeling embarrassed. "No, no. You're a typical handsome guy right now. I can't see any signs of aging on your face."
She wasn't lying when she said that. Perhaps it was because he exercised regularly that Leonard looked much younger than their peers. When they were at the police station, had he not mentioned that they were classmates, she would just assume he was a hot young guy.
"Really? You find me handsome?" Leonard asked.
Stephanie nodded without hesitation. "Yes, you're very handsome. I'm sure you're the kind of guy who can charm all women."
"Oh? What about you? Have I charmed you too?" Leonard suddenly asked, with a smile that seemed casual but his gaze made Stephanie blush nonetheless.
Stephanie quickly averted her gaze, not daring to stare at him anymore. "I…I just appreciate the way you look."
It was normal to want to take a second glance at a handsome guy
