To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 901-If I've Done Something Wrong Before He hugged her tightly. "Why are you so good to me, Janet?’ "Am I really that good?" Janet wasn't so sure. No one had ever called her good before.

"Of course. You're the best girl I've ever met." Zack nodded vigorously. Why else would he love her so much?

Janet opened her mouth, wanting to say something. However, she lacked the courage to do so. "Well, what if one day you find out that I've done something wrong before? Would you forgive me?"

"What could you possibly do wrong? They're just small matters. I wouldn't care."

He loved Janet for who she was now. It had nothing to do with her past.

It didn’t matter if Zack had lied. His words calmed Janet considerably.

At least, this was a man who truly loved her.

She tilted her head and kissed him, wishing she could give him everything.

The next day in the hospital, Jenny went to the ward and found that both the girl and the woman were not there.

She hurriedly went to the head nurse and learned they had left the hospital yesterday afternoon. She grew weak in the knees. 'Why were they discharged?

Didn't I say I would handle the procedures today?"

"They looked to be in a hurry. They went to the director, and he handled it forthem," the head nurse said.

Jenny was panicking. "Is there any way that I can contact them?"

It was so hard for her to find hope. Jenny didn't want to give up that easily.

"We only have her husband's number, but I've dialed it before. No one picked up." The head nurse gave her the number.

Jenny nodded and left, taking the number with her.

It wasn't just ignored. This time, the phone was shut off-she couldn't contact them.

She sighed and went back to her office.

She wanted to comfort herself, saying that was how life was. But then, fate had brought her to them. Wasn't that part of life, too?

She made her decision.

She got Melissa to find the woman for her. Melissa's contacts were growing. It wasn't hard for her to find someone now.

Jenny could also make Alfred find her, but it wouldn't be convenient for him. It was better for Melissa to do it. After all, Jenny established the bar so that she could do things like this.

The whole day, Jenny waited for Melissa's news. She was distracted. Thankfully, there wasn't much for her to do that day. The surgeries were all scheduled for the next day, and Bardoff Hospital had other doctors for surgeries. There were quite a number of neurosurgeons there, and it wouldn't matter too much if she asked for a few days' worth of leave.

After work, she received Alfred’s call. The apartment was ready for viewing.

She wasn't expecting Melissa to be the one to take her to the apartment.

"Alfred told me to take you to the apartment." Melissa jingled the keys in her hand, beckoning Jenny to follow her.

Jenny nodded, at the same time bewildered. "Why did he tell you to come?"

"You wanted to find out about that woman this morning, didn’t you? I wanted to come to see you anyway to talk about it. When Alfred knew, he got me to take you to the apartment," Melissa said.

Melissa didn't go into too much detail, but Jenny was no fool. 'You seem to be on good terms with Alfred."

"We're…we're okay." Melissa blushed.

Jenny understood at once. She smiled. "That's understandable. Alfred is indeed a genius. He's a capable man."

To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 902-Sorry for Him?

The blush deepened on Melissa's cheeks as she stammered, "B-boss, that's nonsense. I…’ "Have you looked into what I asked?" Standing beside Melissa, Jenny suddenly changed the topic and asked about the young girl and her mother.

Melissa was taken aback by the quick shift. ’Huh? Oh, yeah, I got what you wanted. Let's check out the apartment now. After that, I'd bring you to meet with the mother and daughter."

Tracking them down was a piece of cake, but Melissa wondered if she needed to inform Jenny about their pitiful fates to mentally prepare her for the visit.

Jenny didn't ask more questions and followed Melissa to the neighborhood entrance. It took them ten minutes on foot to reach the place, which matched her requirements. She was satisfied with the environment as well. When she saw the apartment, she could not hold back from saying, "I can really trust Alfred to get it right." Finding an apartment that satisfied her conditions right away was no easy feat.

"Of course! Alfred always gets it right." Melissa nodded, pleased, as though she was the one being complimented, not Alfred.

Jenny glanced at her but said nothing. She thought, ' Ah, another woman in love."

"Boss, you can always call me to handle these tasks. I promise you'll be satisfied," Melissa suggested.

Jenny nodded and joked, "Why? Are you feeling sorry for Alfred?"

"He's very busy. Just delegate the minor tasks to me," Melissa chuckled dryly.

Indeed, she felt sorry for Alfred.

Speechless, Jenny agreed, "Sure, I'll hit you up instead.’ Melissa chuckled sheepishly after hearing that.

After the apartment tour, Jenny looked satisfied and signed the purchase agreement on the spot. She reminded Melissa to sort out the apartment situation as soon as possible because she would move in within a few days.

Melissa agreed to it. Later, they left the apartment, and Jenny went to visit the mother and daughter under Melissa's lead.

Jenny stared out the window of Melissa's car as they drove further away from the city center. She could tell that the mother and daughter were not doing well.

"Boss, I immediately looked into the mother and daughter after you asked me to.

The woman is Helga Stromberg, and her daughter is called Amy Hansel. They left the hospital yesterday and went home, but her husband kicked her out. They even signed the divorce papers and would go through the official procedure in a few days."

Jenny nodded with worry. "Where are they staying now?"

"Helga brought Amy to stay with her younger sister. It's quite far, though- half an hour away by car," Melissa answered. Residences in the center of Bardoff City were expensive. Most people could barely afford to rent them, let alone own one.

Jenny sank into silence and decided to only discuss it further when she met with Helga and Amy.

Half an hour later, Melissa parked the car in front of a low-rise apartment. When she walked into the place with Jenny, they realized it was a rental apartment with many tenants. Soon, Melissa led Jenny to the door of the unit and knocked on it.

The door opened, and they saw the face of a woman. They had not introduced themselves, but Jenny immediately recognized the woman because of her resemblance to Helga.

The woman asked, "Who are you here for?"

"Hello! Is Helga Stromberg at home?" Melissa asked with a smile and tried her best to look friendly. The woman remained alert, wondering who'd even look for Helga, given her current circumstances. She even suspected that the women were sent by Hugo Hansel to stir trouble.

Sensing her wariness, Jenny quickly explained, "I'm her attending physician.

Just tell her that I'm Jenny Walter. She'll know."

The woman shot Jenny a glance, seemingly less wary than before. "Okay. Wait a minute. I'll check with her." Still, she locked the door and had them wait outside

To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 903-Worried That I'd Trouble You Melissa dealt with some complicated feelings as she asked Jenny, "Do I look fierce?" Why was Helga's sister willing to talk to Jenny but not her? She wondered if she wasn't friendly enough when she introduced herself.

"You're alright." Jenny struggled to answer. Melissa always had a no- nonsense air around her, perhaps from her regular martial arts practice, which could make her appear unfriendly. Jenny was a martial arts practitioner too, but she was different from Melissa in that she wasn't only focused on the practice. That could explain why she looked gentler than Melissa.

Melissa looked upset but didn't say a word. The door opened again, and the woman from just now poked her head out and said, "Come in."

Jenny and Melissa followed her into the place, where they could see items scattered all around. They went into the only bedroom, where they found Helga lying on the bed, looking worse than before.

"Dr. Walter, why are you here?" She was surprised to see Jenny. When her sister told her that a Jenny Walter was at the door, she thought the visitor was someone with the same name. It turned out to be Jenny, indeed.

Jenny went up to her, feeling complicated. ’Where's Amy?"

"Oh, she went to play with the other kids downstairs," Helga answered.

Jenny took a seat by the bed and explained, "I'm here to tell you that we figured out a way to pay for your surgery. You can undergo surgery without worries."

"Dr. Walter, I know you're a kind soul, but I can't trouble you.' Before this, Jenny had wanted to pay for her surgery. She rejected Jenny because she thought that Jenny had come to her sister's to bring up the suggestion again.

Jenny hurriedly shook her head. "No, I'm not the one paying-there's a charity helping out financially struggling patients by paying for the surgeries.

Helga was either too shocked or confused because she fell into silence for a moment. Her sister smiled instead. "Is that true? That sounds too good to be true.' The last thing she wanted was to watch helplessly as Helga inched closer to death, but she had no choice as she could not pay the hefty surgery fees.

"Of course! I wanted to tell Helga about it this morning, but she left the hospital yesterday." Jenny pretended to look angry, making Helga feel bad about the unannounced departure.

Helga lowered her head and whispered, "I’m just worried I'd trouble you." It didn't matter what time she left the hospital. She even saved a day's worth of hospitalization fees by leaving early.

Not only did Jenny not blame Helga, but she also felt bad for her." Everything's fine now. You don't have to worry about the fees, so come to the hospital with me and continue your chemo. You'll be scheduled for surgery in two weeks."

"Dr. Walter, this is not a lie, right?" Helga still seemed worried at the coincidence.

"Why would I lie to you? Isn't this good news?" Puzzled, Jenny wondered why Helga was dragging her feet.

Melissa could stand it no more, but her approach was much more blunt. She argued, "I bet your husband is probably busy getting himself a new wife. He wouldn't have time for your daughter. Are you sure you and your daughter would have a better life under him?"

She looked into Helga’s husband when she carried out the investigation on Helga under Jenny’s orders. Upon checking, she was aghast to discover the jerk that was Helga's husband.

To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 904-door, the jerk didn't bother to care for her. Not only that, he kicked her out of the house along with their daughter to not affect his chances of remarriage. More damningly, he was not officially divorced—the couple was in the cooling-off period mandated by the law- but he was already looking to get a new wife. One didn't have to guess the fate of Amy living with a father like him.

Initially, Helga was doubtful about the existence of the charity that Jenny mentioned. However, she came to a realization after hearing Melissa's words.

Regardless of whether the charity existed, she needed to undergo surgery and survive, as that was the only way to take care of her daughter and watch her grow up happily and healthily.

Half an hour later, she followed Jenny and Melissa into their car. This time, she left Amy under the care of her sister instead of bringing the kid along. If her surgery was a success, she'd return to pick Amy up. However, if the opposite was true, she had also worked out an arrangement for her daughter.

Helga's heart was heavy when she traveled to the hospital. At first, she felt oddly relieved when she decided to give up, but now she had to worry about the odds of the surgery.

Jenny seemed to sense Helga's anxiety and comforted her, 'Don't worry too much about it. Just like I said, there is a high chance of success. It's worth taking the risk. If the leading surgeon is your concern, I could request the department head to take on the surgery."

Even though Jenny was confident in her skills, she knew that having the department head in the surgery sounded more reassuring to the patients.

Hence, she didn't mind handing the surgery to the head.

Helga didn't look too happy about the suggestion. She shook her head and announced, No. I trust you, Dr. Walter." She had complete trust in Jenny's integrity after witnessing how Jenny went above and beyond for a patient, and she was also confident in Jenny’s skills.

Jenny was glad to hear that from Helga. Perhaps, the trust she earned from patients was the main motivation in her career.

It was late when they helped Helga settle down at the hospital. She was surprised to find Melissa waiting at the hospital entrance. "Why didn't you go home?* she asked.

"How can I sign off when my boss is busy at work?" Melissa chuckled and opened the car door for Jenny. "Boss, do you think you should buy me dinner to reward my hard work?"

"No problem," Jenny agreed as she hopped into the front passenger seat. To thank Melissa, Jenny treated her to a meal and even invited Alfred to join them, which would create an opportunity for Melissa to interact with him.

Melissa was too surprised to speak when she learned about Alfred's attendance.

When Alfred showed up, she hung her head nervously and dared not even take a look at him.

Alfred, however, did not feel odd because he was used to Melissa's shy demeanor around him. Only Jenny was speechless at Melissa's bashfulness.

She sighed silently, "She couldn't even take advantage of the opportunity I created for her!"

"Why did you invite me? It isn't purely for dinner, right?" Alfred stared at Jenny.

He knew she wouldn't normally have the time to dine with others. Jenny wanted to clarify that she had no other motive but changed her tone when she met his eyes. "I just wanted to ask you how the company's doing lately." "Oh.

Everything's going smoothly,’ he replied curtly, much to her embarrassment. She thought, "That's too simple of an answer!’

To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 905-Laying Up Trouble for Yourself "Things are fine on my end, but Jade seems to be struggling with some issues.

If you're free, you should help her out." Jade was responsible for the fashion design work, which was out of his scope, and he decided to rope Jenny into the issue.

She asked, "What's wrong?"

"It's probably some issue involving her ex-husband. Anyway, her projects aren't going too smoothly at the moment.’ Alfred had no clue about Jade's work struggles. Since they were custodians of the company who worked independently, he would not offer his help if Jade didn't ask.

Jenny harbored a guess after listening to him, and she answered, "Sure. I got it."

Alfred dropped the topic of Jade and asked, ' Do you like the apartment?"

"It's pretty decent." She nodded.

He smiled, unsurprised at her satisfied response. The two engaged in their conversation and ignored Melissa's presence. Melissa wanted to chat but couldn't find a chance to interrupt their conversation.

Meanwhile, Jenny, who was worried for Melissa, lectured Alfred, "I know that the company's still in the growth stage, but you shouldn't bury yourself in work. You need to consider settling down-don't miss the right time."

He frowned at the abrupt topic shift. "Since when did you start worrying about your employee's marital prospects?"

"Of course I do. You're my ace. I have to be concerned about your marital prospects." Jenny sounded serious. She would have shoved Melissa into his arms if only Alfred wasn't against it.

He scoffed in an ambiguous response, "Save it. You should worry about yourself."

"Okay,” she replied, feeling speechless when she noticed that Melissa was still staring at the ground. She slid her hand underneath the table and squeezed Melissa's hand while sending signals via her eyes.

A confused and naive Melissa asked her, "What's up?"

"You blockhead!" Jenny thought.

However, Melissa finally caught up as she turned to Alfred with reddened cheeks. "Alfred, do you have anyone in your mind?"

It was an important question for her.

Alfred shot her a look and glanced at Jenny. His gaze traveled between the two and instantly grasped the situation. "Do you have a crush on me?"

Caught by surprise at his bold question, she froze before nodding and answering in an almost inaudible voice, "Yeah."

"Okay." Alfred dropped a puzzling answer.

Melissa was confused as well. What did that even mean? Was that a rejection?

Thankfully, Alfred didn't keep her guessing. He clarified, ’We're incompatible."

She felt her heart break into pieces. "Why so? You've never gotten to know me.’ "You can't explain incompatibility. It has nothing to do with how much I know you," he argued without looking at her. He never took a liking to Melissa ever since Jenny tasked him to teach the woman. After he finally sent Melissa away, he would never allow her to return under his wings.

On the verge of crying, Melissa was stunned by how brutally she was rejected by her first-ever crush. He didn't give her a chance at all. Feeling defeated, she turned to Jenny. "Boss, say something."

Jenny sipped on her coffee and sighed wistfully as she thought, "What else can I say? I can't possibly ask Alfred to date her. A relationship is not child's play."

"Uh, Alfred, you don't have to reject her outright. You can get to know each other,’ she bit the bullet and put in a word for Melissa. She was to blame for even thinking of inviting Melissa and Alfred to dinner. "You're laying up trouble for yourself," she secretly scolded herself.

To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 906-When You Turned Me Down in the Past "Yeah, you should at least give me a chance to get to know you better." Melissa nodded and looked at Alfred with anticipation.

He ignored her and turned to Jenny. "Why didn’t you think of giving me a chance when you turned me down in the past?' The two women fell into silence. The atmosphere was frigid for a moment, but Jenny was quick. "That's because I know you didn't pursue me out of interestyou just wanted to compete against Alec."

Alfred had nothing to say against her claim, and Melissa let out a relieved sigh.

She’d be at a loss if Alfred was truly in love with Jenny. Jenny was better in all aspects, and more importantly, she was her boss. Thankfully, Alfred wasn't truly into Jenny.

"If you have nothing else to discuss, I'll leave." He stood up without any intent to continue the chat.

Jenny didn't stop him, worried that he might cause more embarrassment." He'd better leave now and go back to making money for me," she thought.

Melissa didn't want him to leave, but she knew Alfred wouldn't listen to her.

Soon, Alfred left the restaurant, leaving Jenny and Melissa to finish their meals.

"I hope there's no misunderstanding. His feelings for me are not what you think.

You might not know his relationship with Alec Faust…"

"I know,' Melissa muttered, earning a shocked glance from Jenny. "I've looked into Alec before, but it wasn't anything major."

Melissa knew the relationship between Alec and Alfred, which was why she immediately understood the situation when Jenny brought up Alec." More importantly, even if Alfred likes you, it wouldn't lead to any misunderstanding.

He's clearly not into me." She appeared rather upset.

Jenny didn't know what to say to Melissa. She went ahead and offered words of comfort, "Straight guys like Alfred know nothing about romance. As long as you don't give up, you will touch his heart one day." Jenny believed that persistence was the key to dating a straight guy.

"Okay. Even if you don't point that out, I do not plan to give up on him." After all, Alfred was Melissa's first crush. If she gave up on him so soon, it'd be embarrassing when the others learned about it.

Jenny was reassured by Melissa's response—she seemed more resilient than previously thought. They dropped the topic of Alfred because it was a little upsetting for Melissa.

"By the way, has your senior left?" Jenny was suddenly reminded of the weird man and asked in curiosity.

Melissa shook her head. "I don't know. We're rarely in contact, mostly because he's hard to reach, but you can ask Alicia about him. She might know something." Then, Melissa stared at Jenny, waiting for her word.

Jenny shook her head dismissively. "That was just a random question. I'm not too interested in his movements anyway."

"Okay. But I guess he hasn't left. I don't think Alicia invited him over just to get into a fight with you. She knew that another person was involved in Jonathan's death besides you.’ To Melissa, the other suspect seemed to be the real culprit.

She had told Alicia about her theory, but she had no idea if Alicia was receptive to it. If Alicia had listened, she would have gone after Yvonne.

At the mention of Yvonne, Jenny could not help but feel impressed by the woman. Even after receiving Jenny's warning, Brandon Britt insisted on keeping Yvonne by his side.

Jenny wondered if Brandon ever worried that she would take revenge on the Britts because of Yvonne. She decided that she had to pressure the Britts using the power of the Walters. She refused to make life easy for Yvonne-she had yet to make her pay for putting her in danger by fanning the flames during Randy Glass' bombing incident.

To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 907-ring casts on her limbs and was immobile on the bed. Only her eyes were staring at the ceiling.

"Is this karma?' Jenny stood by Yvonne's bed. She was randomly checking the names of the warded patients when she came across Yvonne's name. Of course, she had to check for herself. When she arrived at the room, she found out that the patient was indeed Yvonne Dickman.

Jenny thought the situation was ridiculous and laughed out loud without considering Yvonne's feelings. Upon hearing Jenny's voice, Yvonne trembled in anger even when she couldn't move a finger. "Jenny Walter!' "Oh my, you recognized me from my voice right away." Jenny bent over, her face in front of Yvonne's, checking on her injuries. Yvonne gritted her teeth as she battled her urge to slap Jenny. Too bad she was in casts and immobile.

"Who beat you up? It looks like it hurts," Jenny lamented, wondering who finally did the right thing. It was so satisfying.

She watched Yvonne seething and hissing, "Don't be so fake! No one else could have done this except for you!"

Before Jenny's patient visit, Yvonne had been wracking her brain to figure out the culprit because she had never met the attacker. There must have been a mastermind behind the assault.

Yvonne confirmed that Jenny was behind everything when Jenny showed up in her room. After all, she only had bad blood with Jenny Walter in Bardoff City.

"You have a misunderstanding there. It wasn't me." Although seeing Yvonne beaten up was satisfying, Jenny was too dignified to resort to such low tactics. She'd rather spend time finding evidence of Yvonne's crime and send her to jail or ignore Yvonne altogether. It had never crossed her mind to get Yvonne beaten up. Still, she was delighted to see Yvonne punished for her wrongdoings.

However, Yvonne refused to believe in Jenny's innocence, which wasn't an issue for Jenny at all. She asked, "Why didn't Brandon Britt visit you? I thought he was head over heels for you."

Yvonne didn't reply. Jenny beamed even brighter. She heard that Brandon recently went on blind dates and was about to get married soon. The bride was naturally the daughter of a wealthy family. He wasn't that dumb to marry Yvonne.

At the same time, Yvonne was furious at the turn of events. She had thought that Brandon was smitten by her, and she even believed she had a chance of marrying him. However, reality was often disappointing, and she learned that Brandon had never considered marrying her. His action was a way of telling her that she was a woman to have fun with but not a suitable candidate for marriage.

She belatedly saw through the nature of the heirs in Bardoff City.

Compared to the families in Parrington, the Bardoff heirs held their family reputation as sacrosanct over trivial affairs like romance. She wallowed in regrets, but she could not pinpoint what exactly she regretted. Even if she had stayed in Parrington, she would not end up in a better situation. She'd be left with no choice either way. And the reason for her misfortune was the woman standing before her.

Saddled with the heavy thoughts, her resentment for Jenny grew. "Jenny Walter, I wouldn't have ended up like this if it weren't for you!" "Is that so? Why do I think you deserve everything you're going through now?" Jenny refused to be manipulated by Yvonne. She sneered silently, "Is she trying to guilt-trip me? Oh, dream on."

To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 908-Getting Help Was Easy, but Sending Away the Helper Was Tough Jenny didn't overstay her welcome in Yvonne's room. Neither did she care about the identity of Yvonne's attacker. It was none of her business; she wanted nothing to do with it.

When Alec met up with her, she deliberately told him about Yvonne to observe his reaction. There was no change in his expression, as though Yvonne was a stranger to him. She was bored by his reaction and grumbled, 'You were close with her. Why don't you look like you care?' "Jenny, you're impossible sometimes.’ He sighed and smiled at her in defeat.

She was puzzled by his remark, and he explained, "Were you hoping for any reaction when you brought up Yvonne? Did you think I'd care about her?"

She pouted. "It was a casual talk. If you hate the topic, just forget I've ever brought it up."

"No, it's not that I hate the topic. I think you underestimated my feelings for you."

He never had feelings for Yvonne and couldn't care less about her getting beaten up and hospitalized. Even if she was dead, he wouldn’t show any response to the news.

"Okay." Jenny was at a loss for words as she recalled how Alec had frequently referred to Yvonne as his "savior’ in the past. She wouldn't have cared enough to tell him about Yvonne if he hadn't done that.

Sensing that Jenny was upset, Alec hurriedly added, 'I'm not blaming you. I just thought you shouldn't test my feelings for you by mentioning her. I was never interested in her anyway." His relationship with Yvonne was no more than friends. Plus, after everything that had happened, he no longer saw her as a friend. Take the example of Yvonne's trip to Bardoff City. He knew nothing about it, and not once did Yvonne visit him. That was clear evidence of their nonexistent relationship.

"Oh. So, who were you interested in?" She tilted her head, feeling interested in the topic.

Taken aback, he replied, "You.*

"Stop trying to change the topic. Who were you interested in apart from me? "

She stared intently at him, demanding an answer.

Feeling that he’d stepped into a trap, he lifted both hands and surrendered. "No one else! Just you!"

"Oh, is that so?" She did not believe in his words and recalled his crush, the woman named Quinn Blue. Yvonne once described Jenny as Quinn's replacement. Even after she accepted Alec's explanation, she still thought that Quinn must be a special person to him. Still, she did not press on, as that would ruin the atmosphere. She'd take his word and trust him for once.

"Don't you ever worry that Zeke Faust would turn his attention to me, given how frequently you've been visiting me lately?" she said with a smile. The Fausts' situation had turned way more complicated. That was perhaps a little of an overstatement. After all, their only common enemy was Alec Faust. Putting on a united front against Alec, the family members temporarily put behind their internal strife.

If Zeke Faust had thought of that, he wouldn't have invited Alec to Bardoff City, leading to the current situation. After inviting Alec from Parrington, the Fausts now had to think of a way to send him back. Getting help was easy, but sending away the helper was tough. Alec didn't look like he’d leave anytime soon.

To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 910-What a Great Employee Alec spent some time cooking up a reply. A while later, Jenny heard him muttering, "Well, we're just acquaintances. You know what happened between me and him. We would never be close."

Even though Mortimer was in a coma at the hospital, and there appeared to be no conflict between Alec and Alfred, they knew that they would never be true friends, considering the bad blood between them.

"Right. So why did he tell you?" Jenny asked, feeling confused.

"He probably…doesn't want to see you dating Evan Clarke.’ Alec was surprised too when he received the tip from Alfred, but he thanked the man and didn't prod much.

She was speechless at Alec's answer, but she couldn't deny the possibility of Alfred doing so. If Alfred was getting along fine with Alec, it made sense that he would rather see Jenny dating his half-brother than Evan Clarke.

She stopped asking questions and took the elevator to her place. She had hired a cleaner to clean up the unit the day before. The apartment was ready for her to move in, and she wanted to stay straight away.

"You should go home." She had to urge him to leave when he followed her to her door. He smiled and opened the door to the unit across from her.

Dumbfounded, she finally collected herself after a pause. 'Do you live here? II "Yeah." He nodded and added, "Isn’t this fate? We're neighbors again.' Fate? Jenny was too surprised to speak. He had clearly bought the unit right after learning that she had moved to the apartment. She thought," Does he take me as a fool?’ "Do you want to have a seat?" he invited her to his place, even though she refused to host him at hers.

She waved her hand dismissively. "It's okay. I'll go to your place next time.’ She figured that his place was not much different from hers. After all, both of them recently bought their units, which she assumed to have come with old furnishing from the former owners.

"Come in and have a seat. I'll make you a cocktail for a good night's sleep.’ He opened the door while speaking.

Finally, she succumbed to the allure and stepped into his place. She was mostly curious about Alec's cocktails because she never knew that he was good at mixing drinks on top of being a good cook.

When she entered his living room, she was surprised by the huge contrast in its interior decor. The living room sported a contemporary luxury decor, looking deluxe and nothing like a second-hand purchase. The decor was clearly to Alec's taste, which puzzled her even more. She wondered, "How did he manage to purchase a unit overnight that perfectly fits his taste? Why wasn't I as lucky?*

While thinking, she saw him walking toward the bar in his place and starting to make some cocktails. The bar was filled with ingredients for mixing drinks-it seemed he was regularly making cocktails and not just forthat night.

"Today wasn't your first day here," she concluded.

He nodded. "Yeah. I've moved in for a while. That's why I said we were fated."

He hired an interior designer to work on the decor, which explained why his unit looked different than Jenny's.

"I don't know about fate. What I do know is that Alfred is indeed a great employee," she scoffed sarcastically and suspected Alfred of choosing the apartment for her with an ulterior motive. She had mistakenly thought that Alec bought a unit after she moved over, but it seemed like it was the other way around-Alfred picked the place for her because Alec lived there.
