Ch. 871..880
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 871-He's Been Murdered Luke watched him jump. For a moment, he couldn't quite believe it. Was Alec submitting so easily without a struggle?
He didn't think there would be a river waiting for him to swim in, did he?
"Idiot!" Luke thought. Then, he said to someone, "Look around below. You must see his corpse with your own eyes."
"Yes, sir!" His bodyguard nodded.
Just before Luke was about to call Xavier, his phone rang. It was his father's secretary. He thought that he was calling to track his progress. Before the secretary could speak, he said, "Tell my father the plan worked. Alec is dead."
"Xavier… something's happened to him." The secretary was panicking on the other end, his voice trembling.
Luke's eyebrows raised. An unsettling feeling washed over him. "What happened?"
What could ever happen to his father?
"Xavier… he's been murdered!" the secretary said, his voice full of terror.
Luke's phone clattered to the ground. For a moment there, he forgot to ask how it happened.
News of the Fausts spread through the city quickly. Alec had fallen down a cliff, and Xavier was shot in his villa and was pronounced dead. Either story was a terrifying case, and they had both happened at the same time.
When Jenny saw the news, she had just finished performing surgery. She grew weak in the knees.
Fallen down a cliff?
Jenny did not believe this. After what had happened the last time, Alec would turn away at the mere sight of a cliff. What was he doing there?
At that thought, she called Melissa to ask her to investigate the matter.
Melissa was already succeeding at managing the bar. The intel gathered was growing. Jenny trusted her. However, she was so anxious that she drove toward Faust Manor. She had to know what it all was.
But when she arrived, she realized a herd of reporters surrounded the place.
Several bodyguards were standing at the gates. No one could go in.
Jenny's heart was beating hard. Thankfully, Melissa called. Although she had not yet made sense of what had happened, she had found out the place where Alec had fallen. Jenny wasted no time rushing over.
When she knew that it had happened at a turf club newly opened by Luke, Jenny could guess what had happened. She couldn't help feeling angry. Alec had not taken his safety into account at all.
Luke definitely did not have good intentions of inviting him over. Why did he go?
Jenny rushed over to the club with those thoughts in mind. She could not calm herself down at all. It was now that she realized how much she cared for Alec.
But what a pity it was that she only figured it out now. It seemed too late. All she could do now was pray that nothing had happened to Alec.
When she got to the club, it was fenced up by the security guards. No one could go in. They said that they were still looking for him and that things were still chaotic.
Jenny didn't believe a word they said. These were Luke's henchmen. Even if they did find Alec, Luke would not let him go.
When they weren't paying attention, she snuck into the club and ran toward the cliff.
There were plenty of people still searching. When Jenny wondered if Luke had a heart after all, she heard the security guards murmuring, "Where did he go? He can't be alive, falling from such a high place." "Stop chatting. Find him! If he runs, the boss will have our heads!" They began searching more fervently, failing to notice Jenny not far off.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 872-A Solid Reason Jenny was feeling a whirlwind of emotions. She was glad that they hadn't found him. Yet, she worried about him.
She still had no clue what had happened. However, based on what they said, Alec was dead in their eyes, which meant he was in bad shape.
She began looking as well, but the reality of it was grim. She had to focus on finding him on top of keeping herself hidden. It was slow progress. The only silver lining was that they had not found him either, so he could have survived.
She was about to keep searching, but then her phone rang. She was stunned.
On the quiet cliff, a single word uttered would have been loud. And this was a ringtone. Jenny was instantly discovered.
"Someone's there!"
"Look over there!"
A swarm of security guards moved toward her. Jenny ran while talking on the phone. She felt even worse listening to Melissa's description of everything that had happened. Alec had even been shot before falling down the cliff!
Her worry was boundless, but she didn't have the time to think. She had to lose the security guards coming after her. Otherwise, she’d be killed before even getting to find Alec.
"Follow me!"
A silhouette appeared before her. Before she could react, he pulled her in another direction.
"Paul? Why are you here?" Jenny was bewildered. Even if news of Alec's incident had spread, Paul couldn't be there so early.
Paul didn't answer her question. If it weren't for the fact that Jenny meant so much to Alec, he wouldn't have cared whether she lived.
Quickly, Jenny was stunned once more.
There was a helicopter on the mountain!
Paul pushed Jenny in. There were already quite a few people in it. There were even two doctors tending to Alec's wounds.
The helicopter rose in the air. The security guards rushed over, but it was pointless. They had seen the helicopter ages ago, but they thought it belonged to the Fausts, which was why they didn't bother checking it. They didn't think that it belonged to someone else. If they did, they wouldn't have watched them escape right before their eyes!
In the helicopter, Jenny looked at Alec, who was still unconscious. She was slowly figuring things out. She looked at Paul and asked, ’Did you know early on that something would happen to him?"
"It wasn't me. It was him.’ Before Alec went to the club, he had arranged everything.
"Why did he go if he knew that something was going to happen? Wasn't he afraid of an accident?" Jenny was a little angry. Despite his seemingly perfect plan, anything could have gone wrong.
Paul looked at her and said, "Since he chose to go, there had to be a solid reason."
"You…" Jenny didn't know what to say."
Paul was Alec's friend, yet when he knew of something like this, he agreed instead of pulling Alec back.
Paul was exasperated, too. When Alec told him his plan, he opposed it.
However, they both knew of Alec's personality. When he had made up his mind, no one could do anything to change it.
All that he could do was ensure that nothing happened to Alec. He arranged for a helicopter to stay at the club early on so that if anything happened, they could leave in the fastest way possible. However, he didn't expect Alec to be wounded so badly.
Just like Jenny said, a perfect plan could not guarantee that accidents wouldn't happen.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 873-old him about the helicopter? Wouldn't he have detected something amiss if he had known?
Anger surged in his heart. But then, he looked at the emergency room not far off. He suppressed the anger. He couldn't rush over now. He could only pray that Alec was already dead. If he were alive, and his father was the one who died, Luke would faint from anger.
Soon, the lights above the emergency room went off. The doctor walked out.
’I'm sorry. We have tried our best.” "What did you say? You fucking piece of trash!" Luke wanted to rush forward to hit him.
With a loud bang, Zeke brought his cane down on the floor. Luke had no choice but to control himself.
Zeke sighed, seeming older. "Make the arrangements."
"Alright.” The butler nodded. He couldn't imagine how something like this could have happened.
Wasn't this the day of Alec's death? How could Xavier be the one who died instead?
Zeke turned and left the hospital. Luke didn't know which way to go for a moment. He stayed in his spot.
"Come here!" Thankfully, Zeke ordered him to go over.
Luke sighed in relief. His father was dead, but Zeke had not forgotten his grandson. As long as Zeke did not give up on him, Luke had a chance.
As for the dead Xavier, Luke did not feel too aggrieved about it. He was merely angry. Being murdered in his own house was a great humiliation to the Fausts.
Zeke walked to the entrance and sighed, feeling better. "How are things on Alec's side?"
"What are you talking about, Grandpa?’ Luke acted dumb. He knew that Zeke did not like internal politics, so he kept this a secret.
Zeke looked at him, exasperated. "Did you think your father would dare to bring out the guns without my permission?"
It was then that realization dawned on Luke. A mixture of emotions stirred in his heart. Amongst them was a grumble. "Grandpa, why did you bring him over to Bardoff City to fight us for the position if you wanted him dead as well?"
If not for this abrupt gesture, Xavier would have become the new head of the Faust family, and Luke would be the next heir. Nothing like this would have happened.
The old man sighed. "I wanted to train you both. But who would have thought…’ Who would have thought that his heirs would be so incapable. On the other hand, Alec was too capable. That was what had caused the tragedy tonight.
For a moment, Luke didn't know what to say. He pursed his lips, remaining silent.
"I take it that the plan did not work with Alec?" Zeke sighed once more. He had agreed to it in secret. They thought it would be perfect. However, they had underestimated Alec.
Luke nodded but then shook his head. "He should have died under those circumstances. But then, we couldn't find his corpse. And now they say that a helicopter has left the turf club. It's probably…" he trailed off, too embarrassed to say any more.
"A helicopter?" Zeke frowned. "So it seems like Alec was prepared."
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 874-He couldn't figure out why Alec would do something like that. What was the point?
"He is clever. He would not do something to endanger his life on purpose unless he had a reason." Zeke understood that about Alec.
Luke only understood half of it. "What reason?"
"I don't know yet." Zeke frowned. He hadn't figured it out.
Luke changed the topic. "Who killed my father? The surviving bodyguards said a group of people rushed in and started firing. They were chaotic."
"Yes. It was chaos." Even the Fausts had chosen to assassinate Alec in the mountains. They were not as arrogant as Xavier’s killers, who seemed to disregard consequences.
Zeke stared into the distance, deep in thought. Luke was upset. "Are we going to take this lying down? We have to avenge my father, don't we?"
"Lying down?" Zeke smiled coldly. "They killed my son. Do they think the Fausts are going to just let it go?"
Luke felt better when Zeke said that. They were going to turn Bardoff City inside out. By hook or by crook, they would find that group of killers.
"Tell me. Who would the mastermind be?" Zeke looked at Luke.
Luke was stunned. He couldn't think of a suspect. With the situation the Fausts were in, no one should have the guts to attack them.
He shook his head. Zeke was not angry. He smiled, saying, "We'll have to observe who benefits the most from this."
"My uncle…" Luke said instinctively. Then, he clamped his mouth and looked at Zeke cautiously.
"That's possible. However, I don't think he has the ability." If Yakov had a team of henchmen like that, he needn't worry about being the next heir.
Luke thought that made sense. Yakov was not a charming person. There was no way he'd have so many supporters. If he did, Xavier and Zeke would have found out at once.
Luke couldn't think of anyone else at the moment. "I can't figure it out. I can't think of anyone who would do a thing like this."
"What about Alec?" Zeke asked.
Luke was shocked. "Alec? Does he have an ability like that?"
"Who knows? I think he's the greatest benefactor of your father's death. You are all rivals, to begin with." Zeke felt that Alec definitely had something to do with it.
Luke didn't think it was realistic. "But this time, he didn't have the time to do it."
"We were just wondering why he would agree to your invitation despite knowing the danger ahead. What if he was creating an alibi for himself?" Zeke was, after all, a living fossil. He had reasons for his analysis.
Luke was shocked. "So, you mean…*
"It's not impossible. Look at all his preparations. Why would he come if he hadn't already thought of this? Why would he prepare ahead?" Zeke smiled bitterly. He couldn't help wishing that Alec was his grandson, not Zachary's. That way, he wouldn't be so stressed about the next heir.
What a pity that such a brilliant man was not his own.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 875-You Have Me in Your Heart News of Xavier's murder spread through Bardoff City like wildfire. Nearly everyone strengthened their security systems to avoid something like that happening to them.
If someone had attacked the Fausts, it didn't just mean that those killers were arrogant. It meant that the Fausts were defenseless. They were now the city's laughingstock.
Precisely because of that, Xavier’s memorial was not a large affair. Only close friends and relatives came to visit, and he was then buried in the Fausts' graveyard. The Fausts seemed to want it to die down as quickly as possible.
They didn't even seem to want to hunt down the attackers.
Everyone was curious to know what the Fausts' action meant. Someone as pompous as Xavier had been killed. Were they going to take it lying down?
In Bardoff Hospital, Jenny completed her rounds and walked into Alec's ward.
He had been there for two to three days, but he could still not be discharged.
After all, he was shot and then thrown off a cliff. Although he had saved his own life by hanging on to the roots under the cliff, he had gotten hurt in the process.
When she got in, Alec was on the phone. He was delegating work to one of his employees. Jenny turned to leave, but Alec swiftly hung up and smiled at her.
"So you came."
Jenny murmured in response and walked over. "To perform a check-up."
Although she was not the doctor in charge of him, she had a right to visit his ward as his head was injured in the fall.
Alec did not move, letting her perform her duties on him.
After a while, Jenny said, "Lucky people are just built differently. There's nothing much wrong with you. It's like the Heavens are looking after you."
She sounded upset when she said that, and Alec picked up on it. However, he didn't seem to mind. "I already made all the necessary preparations to make sure I didn't die."
"And what does that have to do with me?" Jenny glared at him.
He smiled dryly. He knew that Jenny was angry. He hadn't told her about the plan, and he hadn't considered the consequences. But the deed was already done. Now, he had to figure out how to appease her instead of crying over spilled milk.
Alec chuckled dryly and said, "Jenny, let me treat you to lunch today."
"There's no need for that," Jenny refused.
"I know that you have me in your heart, Jenny. I heard about it from Paul. You went to the turf club immediately to find me." Once Alec found out, he was certain of Jenny's feelings. He couldn't let her go this time.
Jenny bit her lip. If she had known that Alec had gone prepared, she wouldn't have gone.
She looked at him, still feeling angry. "Who said I was there to look for you?
Couldn't I just be going there for the fun of it?"
"Fine. I guess." Alec didn't want to press the topic.
Jenny had a lot of questions she meant to ask. Before, Alec had just woken up, and his body was still weak, so she was not in a hurry to ask him anything. But now that he had recovered somewhat, she asked, "Why did you go? You knew that Luke had hidden motives. I just can't think of why you would want to go."
Alec was silent.
"Forget it if you're gonna keep quiet." Jenny was about to leave.
"It's not that I don't want to tell you. I was afraid that if I did, you'd think I was despicable." It was a murder, after all. Even though the killer was Evan, Alec was the true mastermind.
Jenny said nothing, but she pulled over a chair and sat next to him. Her intentions were clear.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 876-He Has No Evidence Alec didn't know whether or not to be amused. It felt like Jenny was there for a bedtime story.
He told her everything about the plan and his preparations. However, he did not say that those people belonged to Evan. He just said that they were his. After all, he had made a promise to Evan.
After Alec was done speaking, Jenny's face turned solemn. "So, Xavier was killed by your men?"
"Yes." Alec nodded.
"Did you have to kill him?” Jenny frowned. She couldn't understand. She knew the Fausts were fighting tooth and nail to be the next heir. However, she thought it was only just a fight. She was not expecting murder.
Alec knew what she meant. He sighed. "It looks like Luke is attacking me on the surface, but this incident has Xavier's trademark written all over it. You know that, don't you?"
Jenny nodded. She didn't think it was strange at all. Luke and Xavier were one and the same.
"I used to think that anyone who would attack me would be Xavier and Luke. But they were using firearms. I suspect that Zeke had agreed to it. They wouldn't be using firearms so openly otherwise."
It wasn't really a suspicion. Alec was already sure of it. But he toned it down in front of Jenny.
Jenny was stunned into silence. However, it made sense. Such a huge incident would not have been carried out by Luke and Xavier alone without Zeke's permission.
Suddenly, Alec's actions made sense. "Your family is a mess."
It wasn't just a mess. It was violent and brutal. There was no bond to be had amongst them.
"Yeah. Little arguments like in the Walters are the exception." It wasn't just the Fausts. Any of the other Ten Elites was chaos internally.
Jenny sighed. She was glad to be a Walter. Although Rowena and Jolene caused trouble, it wasn't really a big issue. Graham protected his own. Inheriting the Walters wouldn't be a problem.
She asked Alec, ' But aren't you afraid that Zeke will find out about you being the mastermind behind Xavier's death? He's not going to let it go."
Things looked calm on the surface, but she felt it was the calm before the storm.
Something was bound to happen.
"There's nothing to be afraid of. As long as he can’t find those people, he has no evidence to determine that it was me. When Xavier died, I was nearly killed by his grandson. Luke is my best witness." If it weren't for this witness, he wouldn't have risked his life for it.
"Do you think Zeke would believe that?" Jenny didn't think that Zeke was a fool.
So what if Alec had a witness? Xavier was dead, and only two people benefitted from it. Alec was obviously a suspect.
Alec didn't mind. He smiled, saying, "It doesn't matter if he believes it. So what if he thinks I'm the killer? He has to have proof. Otherwise, he'd be suspecting everybody in the city. On top of that, the Fausts have their own rivals. There are so many families looking up at him. He wouldn't dare to behave rashly."
It looked to be a minor issue, but if they were to be caught, they would easily be hurt.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 877-As Expected of Mr. Faust Jenny gave him a thumbs-up after he was done. 'As expected of Mr. Faust."
"Don't tease me, Jenny.’ Alec felt embarrassed. He was afraid that she would have a bad impression of him. He wasn't just a mindless killer.
If he did not make a move on the Fausts, Xavier would never let go of his hold on his position. Alec was forced to do it.
Jenny smiled lightly. "I'm not teasing you. I'm honestly admiring you. You're a natural businessman. The Fausts will be yours, and you will bring them to the new light.” Although the Fausts looked to be in their prime, Jenny could feel that the family wasn’t as amazing as they looked. They were only tough on the outside.
Otherwise, Zeke would not have done this to select his heir. He would not be so worried if they were truly capable.
Alec didn't care about it right now. What he cared about was something else.
He looked at Jenny and asked, "Can you forgive me now? I didn't tell you because I didn't know if it was in my right to do so. What if I told you about it, and you told me it was none of your business? What would I do, then?"
That was something she could picture herself saying.
A trace of embarrassment flashed through her eyes, but it disappeared quickly.
"It's the same now. You needn't ask for my forgiveness because it has nothing to do with me."
Alec was silent. Then, emotionally, he said, "When are you going to stop torturing me, Jenny?"
"Do you really want to be with me, Alec?" Jenny suddenly asked.
He nodded at once, his gaze sincere. "Yes!"
"When are you going to learn to prioritize your safety? I don’t want to have a boyfriend who might lose his life any time." What if they married, and she became a widow?
Jenny got up and left the ward. Alec rested against his pillow, saying nothing.
Jenny's worries were justified. He was always putting himself at risk. He wasn't just unlucky; he actively put himself in danger. This would not provide security for any woman.
He sighed, murmuring, "I have to be the head of the Fausts as quickly as possible."
Once he was the head of the family, he would not be in such danger. He would be able to provide security to Jenny.
He was still lost in his thoughts when the door was opened once again. But this time, it was Evan who walked in.
He looked exhausted. He looked at Alec angrily. "I think you should have told Jenny everything from the start."
"What's up? Are the Fausts pressing close?" Alec asked.
Evan had personally participated in Xavier's murder. Alec knew that. Evan was also the one who planned the escape route. As long as they escaped before the Fausts could react, there wouldn't be an issue.
But judging by his response right now, it probably hadn't worked.
Evan sat on the chair, his spirits low. "I underestimated them. They were fast.
Before my men could clear the area, the Fausts had already cordoned off every exit. They can't leave through the proper channels now."
Although they were masked and gloved when they broke in and did not leave any traces, Evan did not want to risk his men getting caught. They followed him into the country. He wanted to see them leave in peace.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 878-o say it." Evan glared at him. "I already did, but I'm worried that the Fausts have already prepared for that."
"No matter how strong they are, they cannot place guards at every border. If you let your men leave one by one, the rates of success are high," Alec said.
Unfortunately, his words received no praise. "Do you think this is a vacation? It was hard enough for them to travel in a group. If they split up, they'd have no chance of crossing the borders."
The borders that they talked about were not legal routes to take. They were basically sneaking over to the other country. It was extremely risky. Evan had prepared for them to use a path they had used before. However, he was still worried for them.
"I didn't know you were so sentimental towards your henchmen. I thought you were the type to assassinate them all afterward," Alec teased.
Evan looked pained. "You've watched too many movies. They're my men. I don't want anything to happen to them."
"Alright, alright. You have to be careful. I can't help you." Alec didn't have much support in this aspect. Paul may have a little, but Alec didn't want to involve him.
Evan didn't want him to help, either. He was just upset with his attitude." Aren't you afraid my men will fail to escape and rat you out?"
"Someone has to believe them in the first place." Alec smiled. He didn't worry about that at all.
Evan smirked. ’It seems like I've been fooled by you."
"How can this be fooling you? You didn't want Luke to bother Jenny. Look, he doesn't have any time to do that now. Isn't that a job well done?' Alec said.
Evan was at a loss for words. Why did that sound so weird?
They no longer talked about it. Evan asked, "Have you told Jenny everything?"
"Yes,' Alec said.
"And I…"
"Don't worry. I did not mention you at all," Alec reassured him. He was trustworthy, at least.
Evan sighed. But at the same time, he didn't think that this was the way to go.
Was he going to be controlled by Alec for the rest of his life?
As if reading his mind, Alec smiled at him. "Don't worry. I won't come to you for help if anything happens."
"So you're not planning on finding me anymore?" Evan asked. "If anything happens,' isn't just an excuse?"
"Well, I don't have any useful henchmen, and your men are untraceable. It's best if they did the dirty work." Although Alec wasn't quite sure who his next target would be, he had to inform Evan beforehand.
His words angered Evan. "Do you think I'm going to let you threaten me forever? It'd be easier for me to finish you off."
He had gotten up from the chair. Right now, the contrast between him and Alec was clear as day and night.
"Don't you say that. It's just a cooperation. We both win in the end. If not, you can state your price, and I'll give you the money. You were already involved in these matters anyway.' He did not mean to mock Evan. It was simply the truth to him.
Assassins traded their lives for money
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 879-Are You Willing To Help Me Evan suddenly filled with the urge to punch him. He could work just for money, but if Alec used Jenny against him, Evan would never work for him.
"You'd better pray that you're this lucky every time!" With that, Evan left. He didn't want to linger around Alec any longer.
Alec didn't mind. He did not feel the slightest twinge of remorse. Evan acted like this was a big loss, but Alec knew very well that he was not a saint. If he were, he would not be in his position.
Even after a few days, Alec remained in the hospital. His wounds were already pretty much healed. If he were in another hospital, he would have fought to get out.
However, this was Bardoff Hospital. As long as he stayed, he would be able to see Jenny every day. Naturally, he would not wish to be discharged.
On top of that, he was waiting. Waiting for the Fausts to come.
Xavier was done and buried. Alec had not returned home. The Fausts had not sent anyone over to check on him as if he had not existed. However, Alec knew that it was just a facade. They would come sooner or later.
The door was pushed open. Alec raised an eyebrow.
Speak of the devil.
"How are you doing, Alec?" It was Zeke. Other people would think that he cared about Alec. But Alec knew that Zeke was not there to see him. He couldn't care less about how Alec was doing.
Alec didn't express any of his thoughts. He pretended to be surprised. "Why are you here, Grandpa?’ "I have been busy with some other things lately. I didn't have the time. You won't blame me for that, will you?” He smiled, looking like the perfect, unsuspecting grandfather.
Alec said he didn't. But in his heart, he cursed at Zeke.
"You probably know of your uncle's passing, don't you?’ Zeke said, sighing in exasperation.
Alec nodded. "Yeah, I've heard. I wanted to attend the funeral, but the doctors said I wasn't fit enough to leave the hospital."
But even if he were fine, he would have thought of another excuse. Attending Xavier's funeral? He wasn't as kind as that.
"He's already gone now. It doesn't matter anymore," Zeke said. His gaze was concentrated on Alec. Unfortunately, Alec was sly. He was a good actor, revealing nothing on his face.
Zeke retracted his gaze and smiled bitterly. ’This is the first time that the Fausts have been hit so hard by the tragedy. I feel horrible. I just wish I could catch the murderer and destroy him. But my powers are limited. I have still been unable to find the killer. Alec, are you willing to help me with this?"
He looked at Alec, not giving him a chance to refuse.
Alec could feel it. If he refused, Zeke could kill him on the spot even if the other families used it against him.
Alec had no choice but to nod. "Of course."
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 880-0 I'll Be Waiting Zeke smiled knowingly. "I will be waiting for your good news, Alec." "However, it's been so long. I'm afraid I won't be able to find anything out,' Alec said. He felt that Zeke was giving him this impossible task on purpose, so he would have a reason to attack him later.
As if prepared for his answer, Zeke said, "Don't worry. I already caught two of the killers. I'll let you be the interrogator. You can't let me down!"
In truth, he had already interrogated them. Finding nothing, he had gone to see Alec.
He felt it had something to do with Alec, and those two killers would get upset when they saw him. If Alec were the one to interrogate them, they'd be unable to deal with the betrayal and blabber about everything.
Alec could guess most of what Zeke was thinking.
It was a pity that Evan's henchmen had never seen Alec before. They had no idea why they had to kill Xavier. Even if he were the one to interrogate them, nothing would be found.
After Zeke left, Alec called Evan to ask why his men were caught.
Evan was stressing over it. He had indeed underestimated the power of the Fausts. He didn't expect them to have people situated at the borders. His men were ambushed and hurt badly. Only a few escaped, and two were taken as hostages.
"I don't care what you do, Alec. You have to get them back, or I will tell the Fausts that this was all your idea." Evan was infuriated. How would his henchmen work for him if he failed to rescue the two of them?
Alec laughed. "Don't be so naive, Evan. Do you think they’d leave the Fausts ' house alive? You should focus on lessening their suffering and let them leave as soon as possible." Of course, what Alec meant by leaving was letting them leave this world, not the Fausts.
Evan was quiet. He knew that, too, but it infuriated him very much.
After a while, Evan sighed. "They were helping you, Alec. Let them go happily.."
"Alright," Alec agreed. He had called Evan just to hear that from him.
Although he would have done it anyway without his permission, Alec had to avoid Evan using it against him in the future.
He hung up and got down from his bed, packing his things. He couldn't stay in the room any longer.
When Jenny came back, Alec had already packed up his belongings. She was stunned but reacted quickly. "Do you want to be discharged now?"
"Yes." He nodded. He looked at her. "Let's have lunch together. Think of it as a celebration."
"Alright." For once, Jenny didn't refuse. Alec had survived death once more. It was worthy of a celebration.
She did not expect the celebration to take place in the hospital cafeteria, however. Jenny was speechless. "If you're broke, you can ask me to treat you to something. You don't have to lower yourself to the cafeteria."
"I don't mind at all. Whenever I ask you out, you say you've already eaten in the cafeteria. So I thought, maybe the food here is delicious. Why else would you always come here to eat? So, I'm here to try it out," Alec said.
