Ch. 821..830
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 821-y might relent, she said, "I'll send Steph back home myself."
So he ended up watching the two women leave in Evan's car until they disappeared on the horizon.
He held back the ball of anger in his chest, choosing to glare at Alec instead.
"The hell is this? Can't keep your woman in check?' Alec scoffed, rolling his eyes. "Why can't you manage yours?"
"Hey!" Paul yelled but didn't know what else to say.
Alec went up to him and patted his shoulder encouragingly. "Calm down, man.
We're in the same boat here."
"No way in hell! At least there's no one else preying on Stephanie right now."
The instant Paul said that, Alec winced. It was true he wasn't the only one setting his sights on Jenny, what with Evan Clarke and Luke Faust on her tail, as well as countless other men. The thought alone was enough to send Alec into a headache.
"C'mon. Drinks on me." As if reveling in Alec's pain, Paul's mood immediately shifted for the better.
Alec accepted the offer. A drink or two might just be the trick for his headache.
Outside Brandon's villa, Yvonne was silently panicking in Brandon's car while he smoked a cigar.
"I really didn't mean to, Brandon. It was just a slip of the tongue," she tried clearing her name again. She didn't particularly like Brandon, but he was still the best she had currently, so she couldn't just give up.
Brandon gave her a disinterested look, snubbing out the cigar. 'Do you take me for an idiot?"
H|_H "Pack your bags and leave. Never show your face before me ever again."
Yvonne gaped at him in shock. "You're kicking me out all because of Jenny Walter?"
"Why else? You think you can stand up to her?" Brandon sneered. Where did the woman get her guts to disrespect Jenny? He didn't know.
Yvonne gritted her teeth. "I can't, but you can't just kick me out all because of one thing I said."
"Be grateful I didn't drown you in the middle of that river to redeem myself. "
Brandon knew exactly what that look Jenny had given him earlier meant. If he didn't do something, she would, and soon, too.
The only reason Brandon was still letting Yvonne live was because of his particular affection for her.
Yvonne continued gaping at him like a goldfish. She'd thought she'd sink her claws into him enough to have him hooked on her, so this was way out of her expectations. Only now did she realize just how difficult Brandon was to manipulate compared to those bums in Parrington.
She started sobbing. "I'm sorry, Brandon. Please don't kick me out. I promise never to get in trouble with Jenny Walter again. I won’t ever show up in front of her again! I really do love you, Brandon. I'd follow you till the ends of the Earth.
Please let me stay."
For a split second, Brandon showed hesitation.
Yvonne seized this chance like a tick on blood. "Plus, you don't have to kick me out just because Jenny doesn't like me. Aren't you both the Elites in Bardoff City? You're not afraid of her or something, right?" "Me? Afraid of her?" Brandon scowled, successfully baited.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 822-Mr. Love Guru Yvonne's scheme still worked in the end. Brandon let her stay after what she said, unable to let himself and anyone else think he was afraid of Jenny.
Meanwhile, Jenny was sent home by Evan after dropping Stephanie off.
"Jen, about earlier tonight-"
"You should get some rest, Evan." Jenny smiled kindly. "I know what you're thinking, and I don't blame you whatsoever, so please don't worry about it."
It was obvious Evan was still glum about not having run up to Jenny's rescue at the first second, but to her, it was a blessing in disguise, as she wouldn't have known how to pay back the debt if something had happened to him.
As for Alec, well…
"I know you don't, but I do." Evan blamed himself for not having saved Jenny before Alec did.
Jenny sighed. "Can we drop this? It's in the past now. I really just want to rest for the night."
"Alright then.' Evan nodded. No point settling it right now when Jenny was exhausted.
Jenny nodded and left his car, going back into Walter Castle.
Evan could only stare longingly at her back, contemplating in silence.
The next day, having subdued the press and told the guests at the celebration to keep silent, Randy's attempt at a suicide bombing at Jenny's celebration event didn't make the headlines. It would have a terrible impact on Walter Inc if that news went out, after all.
Still, to Jenny's surprise, what replaced the news headlines were Alec and Blake's breakup.
She read the news, then did her investigation only to realize someone had pushed the news forward in order for it to be published.
She sat back, wringing her hands together. It was an excellent way to sweep what happened last night under the rug, but her situation with Alec now would be more muddled with the news and him saving her last night.
She contacted her PR department, only to realize in shock that they hadn't been the ones responsible for pushing the news.
Who could it be, then?
Meanwhile, Alec and Paul were busy at Wagner Group, entirely unbothered by having drunk till they couldn't stand the night before.
"Do we keep the news up? The Watkins' are already starting to make them stop publication." Paul asked Alec on the couch.
Alec nodded. "Keep it going until the afternoon."
"You really will do anything for Jenny Walter," Paul chuckled. "You don't even know if she'll be grateful you used your own scandal to shield hers."
Alec smiled. "It doesn't matter to me. I'm not looking for a repayment anyway."
"Liar. You're doing this in hopes that she'll date you."
"Alright, yes, Mr. Love Guru. Happy?"
Paul scowled, then changed the topic. "How are things with the other Fausts?
Any improvement?"
Paul was, in truth, quite concerned about Alec's situation. Wagner Group had little to no chance of having the Fausts as an opponent.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 823-In This for Our Own Gain "When have I ever not made an improvement?' Alec retorted, rolling his eyes.
Paul shook his head, laughing. "Alright, fuck off then. I still have things to do."
Alec got up. He was about to leave anyway. 'Be patient with Stephanie. Do some gestures that are meaningful to her, and don't force her to do anything again. You wouldn't be able to take any of Jenny’s retaliations right now.“ "Fine, goddamn it. I know I'm no match for either of you." Paul rolled his eyes.
Alec clearly just didn't want to get on Jenny's bad side.
Still, even as Jenny was powerful on the surface, she might not have the same reign and tenacity in the underworld where Paul ruled.
Knowing Paul had his backup plans, Alec left the office.
He soon got a call from Zeke, asking him to come over. Alec didn't refuse, having already guessed what it would be for. He might as well explain himself, seeing they were still working together.
Meanwhile, Blake was under her family’s spotlight back home, their gazes mixed with contempt, amusement, and ridicule.
Blake knew very well what was on their mind; how much of a laughing stock she was after all the effort to climb onto Alec Faust had gone to waste just like that.
"He hadn’t even inherited the family title before he broke up with her," they sneered.
Even Blake found it ridiculous.
"Wasn't your relationship going smoothly? Why the sudden breakup?" Blake's grandfather grumbled. He had held out hope that Blake would succeed with her plans. That was down the drain now.
"It was because of Jenny Walter!" Blake complained. "They were in a relationship back then, and now Alec wants her back."
But her grandfather didn't care why, only how. "So? Is there no hope left for you and Alec Faust?’ "I wont give up, Grandad. Please let me try ag-"
"That's enough!’ Blake’s father roared. He had never had a good impression of her daughter, so the news didn't surprise him one bit.
The man gazed at his father, saying, "Dad, Alec contacted me before the news was released. He's assured our cooperation continues even though he's broken up with Blake. All terms and conditions as before still apply."
Alec was choosing to work directly with the Watkins instead of through Blake.
"Can we trust him?"
"We're all in this for our own gain. Dad. Whether we can trust him is irrelevant."
While Blake's grandfather grew silent in thought, she wanted to speak up again when her mother stopped her, gesturing for her to keep her mouth shut.
Blake pouted, fuming in silence.
After a while, the old man nodded. "Alright. I'm still uncertain if that kid can win the title in his family. It'd be good for us to continue working with him for the time being, but we still have to be careful lest that old fox finds us out."
"Alright."
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 824-Give Up Blake was boiling with rage in her room. She had finally realized why Alec broke up with her-the man had seen just how little importance she held in her family, so not even breaking up with her would stop their working together.
As much as Blake knew it herself, she still couldn't accept it.
She had spent so many years trying to win her family's approval. A man like Alec on his way to becoming head of his family could've been her one-way ticket to gaining stronger footing in her family, but that dream had dissipated in just one night.
Blake's anger rose the more she thought about it, especially how Jenny was the cause. She played a part in it too. If not for her operating on Alec, he wouldn't have recovered his memories and broken up with Blake.
"Just let it go, dear. Your father and your brother can handle the business world.
You just focus on finding a nice young man to marry, hm?" Oblivious to Blake's train of thought, her mother could only try and console her.
Blake snapped, "Why? Why can my brother be a part of the family’s business when I can't? Am I that unworthy?"
Her brother was nothing but a useless piece of shit in her eyes. Their family would likely fall from their current pedestal in the Ten Elites if he became the heir.
"Your brother…well, he's a man, and men are meant to focus on this area.’ Blake's mother didn't understand where Blake got those strange thoughts from.
"So just because he has a stick between his legs means he can do whatever he wants without consequences, even if that means doing things without even thinking them through with his stupid brain?’ It was fine if the rest of her family thought so, but having her own mother feel the same way pained her too much.
Now her mother was distraught. 'Your brother isn't stupid. He was just praised for being gifted two days ago."
Gifted? Blake nearly laughed out loud. If that shit weren’t born a Watkins, he would've starved to death on the streets long ago.
"Why are you so biased, Mom? I'm your flesh and blood, too,’ Blake sighed, trying to remind this woman she had more than one child.
Sadly it worked, but not in the way Blake wanted it to.
"I know. That's exactly why I don't want you to participate. It's all hard work and stress, Blake. Why don't you do whatever else makes you happy and settle down with a young man? Do you have any idea how many people out there are envious of the life you have?' Even now, Blake's mother couldn't understand why she insisted on joining the family business. What was wrong with being a pampered young lady from a wealthy household?
Blake gnawed on her lip. ’No way in hell do I want a life like that!' Yes, the public might envy her wealth, thinking of her as a high and mighty Watkins who could do as she pleased, but no one knew the truth. No one knew how powerless she was in the family. Heck, she might even be used as a pawn for an arranged marriage.
"Blake Watkins!" Her mother cried, angry now. "I'm telling you straight right now.
Your father was the one who sent me to talk to you, so you should know what he intends you to do. Even if you accomplished something wonderful, you'd never become head of the family, so just give up. You are also not to interfere in the deal between our family and the Fausts. As for Alec, if you can convince him to date you, fine. But if you can't, then stay away from him."
The more Blake listened to her, the more despair and rage grew in her heart.
"Fuck off!" she screamed, pointing at the door. "Get the fuck out! Now!"
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 825-You'll Give Us Your Blessing, Won't You?
Alec, meanwhile, had gone to meet Zeke to talk to him about the breakup with Blake.
"I didn’t feel like we were compatible after some time together. That's why I chose to do it," Alec explained.
Though it was just a way to placate them, and they both knew the real reason why, Zeke still didn't point it out. ’I see. Might as well save everyone some time, hm."
"Yes. Thank you for understanding.' Alec gave him a bow out of respect.
The two conversed briefly for several more minutes, with Alec reporting how the company was doing and getting the old man's approval before he finally left.
Zeke immediately dropped his polite mask afterward.
"Why do you think he broke up with Blake Watkins?" he asked his butler, who had appeared behind him.
The butler gave it some thought, then said, "Probably because he doesn't think he needs the Watkins" help to become family head."
No one had any idea where he got that confidence from.
"I doubt it. Do you really think the Watkins would call off their deal with Alec just because they broke up with one of their many children?"
The butler nodded in understanding, saying nothing in return.
After a moment, Zeke said, "For some reason, I'm starting to wonder if I made the right choice."
His butler was surprised to hear that. "Do you find Alec hard to control?"
"Yes. He's not easily manipulated." Had he placed his family at risk by letting Alec return?
"Are you sure you're not overthinking things, sir? So long as you never let him, Alec would never be able to succeed as family heir even if he did accomplish great feats." It's not like the kid could force Mr. Faust, right?
Zeke nodded in agreement, still asking, 'No word from Xavier and Yakov yet?"
"I believe they're working together, sir. They should be launching their plans soon. Can't really let Alec become head of the family, can they?" the butler replied.
"Let's give them a boost then. Better to eradicate the outsider soon." Now that Zeke had accomplished his plan, there was no reason to keep Alec around anymore.
Things would only spiral out of his control if he did.
The butler nodded. "Very well, sir."
Jenny went to work as usual at Bardoff Hospital, though this time, most of her colleagues had now changed their perception toward her.
She was surprised to see McKenna walking hand in hand with Derrick, however.
She hadn't imagined those two would get together, especially now that McKenna knew just what kind of jackass Derrick was.
The couple was surprised to see Jenny, though they shared different thoughts.
Derrick still regretted not winning Jenny over, of course. His future would've been guaranteed otherwise. He didn't let McKenna know of this, however, lest she made another scene.
McKenna on the other hand, was beaming like a lighthouse on a misty morning.
"Derrick and I are officially dating now, Dr. Walter. You'll give us your blessing, won't you?"
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 826-Do Me the Honors As unbothered as Jenny was, she still remained polite. "Of course. You two suit each other very well."
At least they wouldn't break other people's hearts now that they could break one another's.
Jenny couldn't guess who would be the loser in this relationship, though. Right now. Derrick seemed the most likely, yet Jenny knew he wasn't the kind to bear losses. Who knows what he was planning already?
"Let's just forget about what happened before, Dr. Walter. We'll remain as colleagues from now on. I hope you don't mind," McKenna continued.
Jenny nearly rolled her eyes. "Rest assured, there has never been anything between Mr. Clearwater and me, nor will there ever be."
It had all been in McKenna's head from the start.
Derrick felt embarrassed though McKenna scrunched her eyebrows up, upset. "I should hope so. I wouldn't want my boyfriend to cheat on me with another woman."
Jenny smiled but said nothing, thinking, "One man's trash, another man’s…
gold-plated trash, I guess."
After she left, McKenna spotted Derrick gazing longingly in her direction. She instantly cried, ’What? Still miss her? Pity she doesn't have eyes for you!"
"What are you talking about? I don't miss her."
Since he'd chosen to be with McKenna, he'd no longer try to win Jenny over. In truth, he knew Jenny wasn't fond of him anyway.
"You better not. I'm warning you: if you cheat on me in any way, I'll make sure you never step foot in this hospital ever again." McKenna warned, still feeling suspicious about Derrick's sincerity.
Derrick nodded, swearing he'd never cheat on her. Only then did she let it go.
On the other hand, Jenny did not give a single damn about those two. Derrick was never important to her, so she didn't need to pay him any mind.
She completed a couple more surgeries that day before receiving a phone call from the police station right after she clocked out of work.
The moment she stepped out of the hospital, ready to call a cab, a car came to a stop before her.
She was surprised to see who it was. 'Mr. Luke."
Luke Faust went up to Jenny, greeting her. "I was wondering if you'd do me the honor of joining me for dinner, Miss Walter."
He had deliberately dressed up properly to come out that night. Right now, even Jenny couldn't deny how hot of a man he was. All the Fausts had good genes, after all.
"Apologies, but I have some errands that cannot be delayed. Let's have dinner another time." When exactly that other time would be was left a mystery.
Jenny didn't have a good feeling about Luke Faust, unlike Julian Faust. The kid was proud and obnoxious, sure, but Jenny could tell he wasn't mean, just young and still immature.
Luke was different. He was smart and intelligent, oozing an intimidating aura that made it hard for most to get close to him.
When Jenny's words reached his ears, he frowned just the slightest. That was his first time asking a woman out for dinner, and thus his first time being rejected.
"I'm sincerely asking you this, Miss Walter. At least give me a chance?" Luke asked with a smile still on his face.
The more Jenny stared at his smile, the more unsettling it seemed.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 827-What Does That Have to Do With You?
Jenny would've agreed to dinner with Luke if it weren't for her needing to go to the police station. She had just inherited the title of the family's head, after all.
There was no reason not to keep the peace with the Fausts.
"You misunderstand, Mr. Luke. I really do have an errand to run. The police need me to make a statement at the station about what happened last night.’ Sometimes it didn't seem like there were any upsides to inheriting the title. If it weren't for her family, she wouldn't consider going out for dinner with Luke Faust.
The man believed her. "Why don't I drive you there? I have time."
"Uh…no, thank you." Now Jenny was at a loss for what to do. She really, really didn't want anything to do with Luke.
Just then, Alec came by. "Hey, Jenny. Off work already? C'mon, let's grab dinner."
Jenny was surprised to hear that, then quickly recovered upon realizing what Alec was doing. "Yeah. Okay."
"Let's go." Alec ignored Luke entirely. He'd usually show him decent respect in front of Zeke, but they were nowhere near the man right now, so.
Jenny was about to leave with Alec when Luke grabbed her by the wrist." Didn't you say you had to go to the station? You turned down my offer for dinner, but here you are accepting Alec's?"
"Of course she is. What are you to her?" Alec forcefully pried Luke's grip off of Jenny, then stood in front of her protectively.
Luke sneered, eyeing the two. "How bold of you, Alec Faust. Less than a day after breaking up with that Watkins girl and you're already trying to climb into Jenny's bed. Is she better for your cause now?’ "What does that have to do with you?" Alec scoffed. No use wasting his breath on someone from such a low level compared to him. The only thing they shared was a last name.
Luke turned to Jenny. "I take it you choose him, then."
"I'm afraid I don't understand you, Mr. Luke. I did plan to have dinner with Alec after the trip to the station. I just never imagined him to come over so early."
Jenny acted innocent, neither wanting to have dinner with Luke nor piss him off.
Yet to Luke, that was a clear rejection, sufficient for him to note it in his black book. With a smile, he nodded. "Very well. Goodbye.’ Alec then left with Jenny in his car, leaving Luke to stare silently at the vehicle fading into the city streets.
He had seriously considered courting Jenny and one day marrying her, so one day he'd not just gain more recognition with Zeke but also own everything the Walters had. It looked like that dream just went up in smoke.
Well, if he couldn't have it, no one else could.
His father had taken action against Alec. Might as well let him take care of Jenny too.
Alec and Jenny were oblivious to the plan. Even if they weren't, they couldn't do anything to prevent it. All they could do was grit their teeth and persevere through whatever difficulties came their way.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 828-eaded for the police station? I'll drive you." Alec replied, not slowing down.
Jenny shook her head. "I can call a cab." She didn't want to be involved with Luke, nor did she want Alec to overthink just because she chose to leave with him.
Alec still wasn't slowing down. "I know you don’t feel the same way I do right now. In fact, you might even hate me. But you don't need to worry about me doing anything to you. All I'm doing is driving you to the station."
"You misunderstand. I just don't want to trouble you, that's all." Jenny didn't hate Alec; she just didn't think him doing this for her right now was appropriate for their current relationship.
"I don't mind."
Now Jenny didn't know what to say. She pursed her lips and left it at," Alright then."
If Alec insisted, there was no point insisting otherwise. It'd be silly to get into an argument over something so trivial.
Her phone suddenly rang.
"Hey Evan," she greeted after picking up.
"Where are you? I'm at the hospital." He had obviously gone all the way just to see her. Unfortunately, Jenny had long left.
"Oh, I've already left. I'm on the way to the police station. They need me to make a statement."
"I'll come pick you up."
Jenny eyed Alec in the driver's seat and said, "No need. We'll meet for dinner.
You can put in the orders first. I'll be right there."
"Alright. Be careful, Jenny."
After hanging up, Alec asked, "Are you close with Evan Clarke?"
"Decent, I guess," Jenny said simply. They'd grown up together, after all, so there was still that childhood bond between them.
Decent?
Alec scrunched up his nose. "You know, there are rumors he's working in Walter Inc to get you to be his girlfriend-turn-wife. What do you think?"
He wanted to see how Jenny would react, wanted to know what she thought about him. If Jenny didn't like Evan, no way would that man succeed.
Still, Jenny immediately picked up on it. "I think he's pretty brave."
She couldnt let Alec get all the points now, could she?
Alec's face instantly fell. "So you're interested in him?"
Jenny shot him a look before saying, "That concerns you how? Evan is a fine, handsome man. Don't I have the right to be interested?"
She used to like Evan. She even confessed to him, too.
Jenny looked upon that memory with only amusement at herself. Still, Evan must be different from every other man based on what she'd done.
"Is he more capable than me? I doubt he's more good-looking." Alec huffed, feeling jealous.
"Can you stop that, Alec? You're not the only 'capable' man in the world, you know." Jenny rolled her eyes. This man was just as narcissistic as he was when they first met.
Alec wasn't embarrassed about it at all. "I don't care what anyone else thinks.
What you think is all that matters to me. So do you think Evan is better than me?"
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 829-I'm Not Dumb "Here we are, thank you for driving me here," Jenny said, ignoring Alec's question. She wasn't going to answer something so childish.
Alec could only shake her head. "Go ahead then."
Jenny got off the car and hurriedly entered the station as if worried Alec might snatch her back. The sight made Alec scowl. Was he that terrifying?
Jenny left the station half an hour later. She was about to hail a cab to go to the dinner date she had with Evan when she noticed Alec was still by the street.
"What are you still doing here?” Did he plan to have dinner with them?
That…would only spell trouble.
"Don't you have dinner plans with Evan Clarke? I'll drive you." Alec's flat expression wasn't helping Jenny guess what he was thinking.
She stared at him for a while to make sure he wasn't bluffing before laughing.
"You'd willingly drive me over?"
"Yeah." Alec nodded. 'Don't worry. I wont be a bother. I'll leave once I drop you off."
"Why?* Didn't Alec despise Evan? Why help her get to dinner with him, then?
"No reason. I want you to be my girlfriend, and I'm not going to let you go there via cab." The safest thing to do was to drive Jenny herself to keep her safe.
Hearing Alec say that threw Jenny off. 'Alec-' "Get on. You don't want to keep him waiting." God knows how painful it felt to say that, but he had no one to blame for it but himself.
Jenny got into his car, knowing it was pointless to try and convince Alec to change his mind once he set his mind to something.
Their car ride remained silent until they reached the restaurant. Alec couldn't hold himself back from saying, "Be careful of Luke Faust. He’s a dangerous man."
"I know." Jenny nodded.
Alec glanced at her, making sure she got his message, so Jenny sighed and said, "I’m not dumb. Luke came to find me because he wanted something from me. I'm not going to allow that."
"But he's a Faust and likely soon to be head of the family," Alec responded. That was what the whole world thought, anyway.
Jenny rolled her eyes. "So? Do you think I care about that?” She wasn't power-hungry like Yvonne Dickman was.
"No, you don't." Alec nodded. He'd known already, but he just wanted to make sure.
They soon stopped outside the restaurant. Jenny opened the car door and was about to get out when she said to Alec, "You know something, you don’t need to do all this. Just keep your focus on becoming head of your family for now."
"Don't worry. I won't make you wait," he promised. Alec wouldn't make Jenny wait too long before becoming head of the Faust family as well as dating her
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 830-Lucky Him Jenny was spotted by Evan the moment she walked into the restaurant. He waved her over. "Here, sit. Food's almost ready." "Sorry for making you wait."
Jenny went to sit opposite Evan across the table.
Evan waved her off but didn't ask her how she got there. He'd seen Alec drop her off from the restaurant windows.
Evan respected Alec for being generous enough to drive Jenny over for their dinner, knowing it was with his love rival. He wouldn't have been kind enough to do that himself.
The food was soon served, most of it Jenny's favorite. "Eat up while it's hot. II "Don't mind if I do." Jenny had been starving since the afternoon, so she quickly helped herself to dinner.
"This is really good, Evan. Where'd you find this place?"
"I drove by a couple of times and saw they had a lot of customers, so I figured they must be doing something right. I wanted you to try it out, so here we are,"
Evan happily answered, passing some mashed yams to Jenny.
"Wow,” Jenny thought. "I wouldn't have been able to find a place with such good cooking just by driving through Bardoff City."
"What'd the police say?" Evan asked. "Glass is going to get the noose, right?
Jenny shook her head. "Turns out the guests killed by the bomb are still alive, just heavily injured. My guess is he'll just get a life sentence." Of course, the details remained in the court's jurisdiction.
Something dark flared in Evan's eyes when he heard "life sentence," but it quickly vanished. "Lucky him."
"Yeah. The lawyers his family hired are trying to argue that he never intended to kill anyone, given how weak the bombs he planted are."
"He mustn't have known shit to have bought such low-quality weapons," Jenny thought to herself, amused.
Evan smiled. "We'll leave it up to the coppers then."
"Yeah. There's nothing else I can do now." Nothing illegal, anyway.
Their conversation continued merrily throughout dinner. Afterward, when Jenny thought she could finally go home, Evan pulled out two tickets from his pocket.
"I got some tickets for a concert nearby. Wanna join me? It could help our digestion," he asked, all smiles.
Jenny giggled. "Only you would think of something like that."
"So, are you coming?" Evan grinned, eyes full of adoration for Jenny.
The woman eyed the tickets and nodded. "Sure. We'll see how well music helps with my metabolism."
"Let's walk over then. It's not far." Evan went up to Jenny holding her hand.
The warm feeling in and around her palm made her stiffen. She gently pulled her hand away even as she nodded at what he'd said.
Their atmosphere suddenly grew awkward, with Jenny instantly regretting agreeing to the concert after dinner. She should've gone straight home.
Evan, meanwhile, was unbothered. His smile remained as he quietly walked to the concert with Jenny beside him.
