Ch. 811..820
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 811-Do You Want to Be with Him?
Halfway through the night, Stephanie finally got her hands on Jenny. "We finally meet, Miss President."
"Not you too." Jenny rolled her eyes, having been pestered enough tonight.
Stephanie giggled. "I'm genuinely congratulating you here! Now, no one will push my family or me around in Bardoff anymore!"
"No one here bothered you in the first place," Jenny teased, though she knew Stephanie didn't really concern herself with it, nor did her family. In fact, they had been keeping a low profile ever since they moved there. In a way, it was like repaying Jenny's kindness of looking after them by not causing more trouble.
The two women observed the flow of the crowd in the hall from their spot on a nearby couch.
Stephanie sighed, "I really never imagined this day would come." She never imagined she might come to Bardoff City, nor would Jenny become the head of the Walters.
"Me neither." Jenny nodded. She hadn't recovered from the shock and surprise of these past few weeks either. Sometimes it felt like all of it happened was against her will, such as her taking on the position of the Walter family's head.
She never wanted it. All it did was burdened her further. Yet countless people envied her for it.
Even Alec was fighting to become the next head of the Faust family in Bardoff.
He'd surely find it incredulous to hear Jenny refuse her current position.
Stephanie sighed once again and changed the topic. "No matter. All that matters is that we're both safe and sound."
"Yeah. How are your parents, by the way? And the family company?" Jenny asked.
"They’re alright. Business is growing, especially with everyone giving us the respect of being friends with you. It's even more successful than it was in Parrington, too." Her family was hopeful of future growth in Bardoff City.
"Maybe the success came from your family's effort, not because of me.’ Jenny really hadn't done anything to influence the Walkers' business.
"Well, whatever it is, we have you to thank." If it weren't for Jenny’s persuasion to have them move to Bardoff City, they'd likely still be toyed with in Paul Wagner's hands.
Jenny gently rubbed Stephanie's shoulder. "What are friends for, hm? Don't need to thank me.’ Stephanie grinned. "Nah. I still think a thank you is necessary."
The two friends beamed at one another and dropped the topic. They were far past pleasantries at this point.
"I thought I saw Alec around here earlier. Did he come to talk to you?" Stephanie had stopped herself from heading over here earlier because she spotted Alec speaking to Jenny.
Jenny nodded. "He lost his memories some time ago but regained them after I operated on him."
She was still conflicted about it.
"So, did he ask if you want to be with him again?" Stephanie asked curiously.
"He's way too cocky, isn't he? It's not like you're some toy he can play with whenever he wants.’ Stephanie wanted Jenny to get the happiness and love she deserved, yet she didn't want Alec to get back together with her so easily after all that she had gone through.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 812-The Ones at Fault "No, he just asked me to give him another chance? Jenny huffed.
"Another chance?" Stephanie thought, then asked, "Do you still have feelings for him, Jenny?"
At the end of the day, Jenny was the one who would decide whether she wanted the relationship to continue. If she did like Alec romantically, the man wouldn't have to do much to win her over. But if Jenny didn't, then whether Alec recovered his feelings for her didn't matter anymore.
"I don't know." Jenny shook her head. "I just don't think I have the time for him or romance anymore."
Helping more people and getting more surgeries done felt far more rewarding than wasting her time with Alec.
"You have a point. Not everyone has to marry. Some can enjoy life even while single." Stephanie nodded.
"I can enjoy that fact now that I've already married once, but you can't, Steph,"
Jenny retorted. ' Haven't you found someone who catches your eye from the suitors trying your hand here in Bardoff?"
"They…uh…" Steph mumbled, blinking blankly.
"Well?" Jenny had heard a few hotties were among them, especially those with a proper upbringing and background. Stephanie's standards wouldn't be skyhigh, would they?
Stephanie sighed. "They're mostly after you, actually."
"Me?" Jenny gaped.
"Yeah. They know we're friends, so marrying me is the best chance to guarantee their families a life free of worry." Stephanie wasn't that easily fooled.
None of her suitors actually liked her for her own person. They'd have a lifelong benefit if they had a connection to the Walters of Bardoff City.
Jenny sighed helplessly. "I'm sorry. I didn't know this would happen." She'd barely met up with Stephanie and her family since moving here, and still, there were folks eyeing her wealth out of greed.
"I don't blame you. Those people are the ones who are at fault."
"Take your time then. I'm sure you'll find the right one soon enough." Her friend was still young anyway.
Stephanie nodded. She had long lost faith in finding a good man, but she could only acquiesce to Jenny’s advice so her friend wouldn't worry.
Soon, Stephanie was ready to leave.
"I'll see you out." Jenny followed her to the front entrance, only returning to the main hall once Stephanie got onto her ride and left.
It wasn't like Jenny liked events like this, but if she left right now, vicious gossip about her character would spread like wildfire throughout the city. It wouldn't do well for the Walters' name to be smeared with such news so soon after she took over.
All Jenny could do was grit her teeth and push on, even though she never wanted to assume this position. She had to hold on through all the unhappiness it brought her.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 813-What Does Your Breakup Have to Do with Me?
Jenny was about to reach the main hall when Blake stormed toward her, her eyes moist and red.
"You sneaky bitch!" Blake screeched.
Jenny cocked an eyebrow at her. She hadn't crossed Blake a single time tonight, so what the hell was she on about?
"Alec wanted to break up with me, but I know it was your doing, wasn't it?!’ Blake screeched again like a tire hissing on the pavement.
"Alec's breaking up with Blake?" Jenny thought. She was truly surprised. She had only told Alec to not rely on Blake or her family, and here he was, already breaking up with her. Still, she smiled. "I'm not sure what you mean, Ms.
Watkins?"
"Stop that pathetic act, Jenny Walter! You told Alec to break up with me, didn't you?" The second Alec returned to her after talking to Jenny, he had raised the topic of breaking up, even emphasizing it had nothing to do with Jenny.
What? Did she take Blake for some idiot?
Jenny chuckled, then asked, "Aren't you just business partners with Alec Faust?"
"We—" Blake stomped her foot on the ground. "We're dating! Not business partners!"
"Really? Then what does your breakup have to do with me? If Alec really saw your relationship as a romantic one, would he so easily want to break up with you?" Jenny continued boldly, not afraid of Blake even though the Watkins were more powerful than the Walters. After all, Blake wasn't as powerful in her own family, unlike Jenny.
Blake gnashed her teeth together. "Do you know what you are right now, you bitch? A fucking whore!"
Jenny guffawed. "I'm sure there's been a misunderstanding, Ms. Watkins. Are you sure Alec isn't breaking up with you because you're not as powerful a tool for him to wield as you think?"
"H-how dare you?!' Blake gasped and paled instantly. A part of her deeply knew what Jenny was saying was true, so she didn't know how to retort. Even if she wasn't dating Alec, the Watkins would still work together with him, given he still had a high chance of succeeding as the Fausts' heir.
"Why don't you use your precious time to raise your status in your family instead of throwing a tantrum here? That way, you could at least stop relying on others."
Jenny sneered, then turned to leave.
Blake shook with rage. She roared, "You better wipe that smile off your face, Jenny Walter! You only got this position because you were lucky.
You'd never get the same treatment in my family!"
Graham had done everything in and out of the book to deal with the Walters.
Hence, he had such a powerful say over who got what. That was why no one had dared oppose or comment on his decision to give Jenny the title of the family head.
But things were different in the Watkins. There were many heir candidates, each wanting to claim the throne. Even Blake's father had fathered a handful of children, and she didn't mean much among them. So it was impossible for Blake to increase her influence and power in her family.
Unlike Jenny, who only shared the candidacy with Jolene Walter. She also had a father who preferred her. No wonder she got the spot without much hassle.
Jenny had heard Blake's screaming, but she chose to ignore it.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 814-It's a Bomb!
If Jenny was in Blake's position, she'd spend her time moping over her minimal chance of being heir to do what she loved instead. She'd even leave the family if that meant finding her own happiness.
Sadly Blake didn't plan to do so. She neither had the determination nor wanted to let go of the safety net that was her family, so she could only let her family conflict painfully tug at her from all angles.
Jenny spotted Alec the moment she returned to the hall. His height made it nearly impossible to miss him. The man nodded slightly at her when their gazes met but did nothing else. Now Jenny didn't know what that meant. So she paid no mind to it and continued on with the night.
Near the end of the celebrations, Jenny heaved a great sigh in anticipation of the night ending and was grateful nothing terrible happened. But the moment she did that, she spotted Randy Glass walking into the hall.
The Glasses had long gone bankrupt, and neither had they been invited to tonight's celebration, so his appearance alarmed quite the crowd. Some guessed he’d been invited because they once were related to the Walters since Jolene Walter was the daughter of Rowena Glass.
Jenny, however, was certain that no one from the Glass family had been invited.
She glanced at James at the far corner of the hall, who was standing beside Jolene. Many guests had been surprised to see her there, but all that mattered to Jenny was ascertaining whether Jolene had invited Randy.
As if telepathically connected, James asked Jolene such, but the young woman quickly shook her head. She'd never do that. She had caused enough trouble.
Jenny was even more worried now.
Her father came up to her. "Did you invite Randy?"
He hadn't sent the invite, but he could accept that Jenny had done so, given she was the star of the night and now, head of the family.
"No." Jenny shook her head.
Graham nodded. "I'll go speak with him."
He was about to walk over when Jenny pulled him back. Her eye was twitching wildly. "Let me go, instead.’ Even if Randy might just be there to mock her and her entire family, she didn't want anything to happen to Graham, as he was still recovering.
"Alright. This'll be a good chance for you to learn how to handle things as head of the family." Graham nodded approvingly. It didn't seem like Randy could get up to too much trouble, either.
Jenny went up to Randy, standing before him, only to find him looking more unkempt than ever before.
"What are you doing here?"
Randy sneered. "What? I can't come to congratulate Miss Walter for finally becoming the family head?"
"I doubt you're that kind." No way would someone like Randy genuinely wish her well.
Randy scoffed. "I'm here tonight to give you a present, actually."
"Present?" Jenny frowned. Something told her it wouldn't be anything good.
"Yup. I'm sure you'll like it." Randy grinned, then slowly unbuttoned his coat under Jenny and every other onlooker's gazes.
"Aaahhh!!!"
"It's a bomb!" "Has he lost his mind?!"
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 815-was to run, but Randy seemed to have guessed it already. "I advise you to stay put, or I'll blow up these pretty little things and hurt everyone here."
So Jenny stayed put. Even if Randy didn't detonate the bombs, she still had to put on a brave front to protect the others' life, or she'd become the talk of the town for the next decade for being a coward.
"Good, good. You still have your wits about you, I see.’ Randy's grin turned menacing as he dragged Jenny up onstage, the bomb detonator in the other hand. He tapped on the mic and said, "Good evening, everyone. Glad to be here tonight."
The audience was deathly silent, though Randy didn't seem to mind. He scoffed.
"Dear me, it doesn't sound like I'm very welcome here. I'll warn all of you first.
Any of you try to escape this place tonight, and I'll send the building collapsing on us all."
Now the crowd of guests was really frenzied. They’d thought Randy's bombs were only limited to the ones on his body, so they wouldn't be affected if they stayed far away from him, but his threat clearly meant death for everyone present.
The guests began yelling and speaking frantically, some weeping fearfully for their lives, while others didn't believe Randy would actually plant bombs in the entire building. Thus these guests went to leave.
"Boom!" A bomb sounded off in the entrance, blasting them into bits and pieces.
Screams rang through the hall again while Jenny stared at the scene in sheer dread.
"What did you do?" she asked, horrified.
"What didn't I do? Don't any of you think you'll leave here alive tonight!’ The moment the Glasses came crashing down, Randy's world had permanently distorted, turning him into nothing more than another city rat. He couldn't take it anymore.
Meanwhile, Jenny was already planning how to avoid further enraging him."
Your family still has countless stores of wealth enough to last you an entire lifetime. Why do this?"
"Wealth? Hah, bullshit!’ Randy didn't just want wealth. He longed for power and influence, for people to bow to him with respect. Purely money wasn't enough for him at all.
Jenny didn't understand. She glanced at Graham and James downstage, signaling for them to calm the guests down, making sure they didn't wander off and meet their deaths.
The two men were already on it, though they weren't succeeding much. In fact, several guests began to whine about how it was all because of the Walters, how Randy wouldn't have done it if they hadn't cut off the Glasses' lifelines.
"What do you want?" Jenny asked Randy. Clearly, he had a purpose, or he wouldn't have waited this long without blowing up the bombs on him.
Randy ignored her, yelling at the crowd instead. "Shut the fuck up, all of you!!"
The guests responded with immediate silence.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 816-cking pleased with yourselves, aren't you? You got what you wanted-my family wiped off from Bardoff City."
"You can tell us what you want, Randy, and well give it to you, whatever it is.
Just let Jenny go first. I'll swap places with her instead." Graham offered. If Randy detonated those bombs on his body, he would lose his daughter.
Randy snorted. "I said to stay put, didn't I?"
Graham pursed his lips but stayed where he was.
While everyone waited for Randy to speak up about what he wanted from them, Stephanie had just returned home. She was about to relax and head inside after the exhausting night when she spotted someone familiar at the door.
Chills ran down her spine. She froze where she was, hesitating about whether to go forward or not.
"Shit, it's not like I could wait out there all night. Plus, there's no reason to be scared of him. He doesn't have any influence in Bardoff City."
With that in mind, Stephanie walked up to her house, coming face to face with Paul Wagner. The shred of hope that it might be someone else instead instantly evaporated.
Stephanie tried to walk past him, ignoring his presence, but the man stepped up in front of her, blocking her path. "I need to talk to you, Stephanie."
She rolled her eyes and took a step back, crossing her arms defensively. "I don't think there's anything to say between us."
They'd concluded everything in Parrington. Whatever talk this was would only be bringing up old scores.
"I beg to differ." Paul hadn't gone up to Stephanie at the event earlier, not because he didn't want to, but because he didn't have the guts. He had stayed in the corners, watching man after man come up to her, trying to flirt, while suffering from the ball of jealousy in the pit of his stomach.
Only after she went home did he finally decide to follow her back. It was time to face her, he decided.
Stephanie sighed. Her fear from her traumatic experience with Paul made her reconsider being too harsh with him. ' What is it then?"
It took a minute or so before Paul finally answered, "I'm sorry."
It was met with pure shock on Stephanie's end.
Was she hallucinating?
She wondered if the man before her was Paul and not some secret twin he'd be concealing.
"I…What I did to you in Parrington was wrong. I hope you can forgive me," Paul continued. He had never felt such a pain as terrible as having to say sorry in his entire life. But he had no choice. If he didn't do this now, there was no way Stephanie would ever want to see him again.
Stephanie had been waiting for him to say this for a long time, yet the release she anticipated would come never did.
She gazed at Paul, conflicted. "I accept your apology, Paul, but…l will never forgive you for what you did to me."
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 817-Paul grabbed onto Stephanie's wrist, stopping her from walking away.
"Some things aren't that easy to mend," Stephanie replied.
"I know I messed up before, Stephanie. But I know better now. I know I need to improve, so please, give me a chance." Paul said dearly.
In truth, he rarely showed this side of himself, so Stephanie was actually touched by his words. She loved him once, after all. But still, she remained level-headed. They weren't compatible. Even if they dated one another, they'd never have a happy ending.
There was no point in wasting each other's time.
Shaking loose from Paul's grip, Stephanie said, "You don't need me around to improve yourself. You should be able to do it alone.
"Steph-"
Paul was cut off by his ringtone. He was about to decline when he saw the caller ID. His expression changed the moment he heard the other person speak.
Stephanie picked up on it instantly. Something told her it wasn't anything good.
But it was none of her business, right?
With that in mind, Stephanie turned to leave.
"Something's happened to Jenny," Paul quickly said.
Stephanie stared at him in shock. "What did you say?' Paul gnawed on the inside of his cheek, waiting for the other person to finish talking before hanging up. "Someone's installed bombs at Jenny's event space.
She's being held hostage right now too. I need to go. We can continue this some other time."
Paul wasn't giving up, but he couldn't stay either. He had to go help rescue some folks from being blasted into bits. More specifically, Alec, of course.
"I'm coming with you." Stephanie wasn't going to sit back and wait while Jenny was in danger.
Paul frowned. "No. It's too dangerous."
"That's why I need to come with you." Before Paul could stop her, she had gone to his car, refusing to be held back.
Paul grunted and went over. He knew how Stephanie could be. She'd drive over herself if he didn't let her come. So he might as well have her close by to watch out for her.
The two swiftly made it to the hotel, where Randy was screaming at Jenny.
"You're right! I have nothing I want from any single one of you whatsoever. I'm just here to drag all of you down to hell with me!" he yelled, the detonator in his hand particularly eye-catching as he flung his arms around.
The audience's hearts were in their throats, stepping back to avoid being in the blast zone, regardless of where else Randy had planted bombs.
Jenny stayed calm, however. She could easily overpower Randy, but she was worried she couldn't retrieve the detonator in time and send everyone to their deaths.
Just as she deliberated on what to do, a red dot suddenly appeared on Randy's shoulder before swiftly disappearing
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 818-I'm Not the One with the Bombs A sniper. Probably from the police force.
But their shot wouldn't hit a vital spot, which meant Randy still might be able to trigger the detonator.
Jenny decided to try and get Randy to move into the sniper's target.
"I know you just want your family to go back to how they used to be. I can make that happen," Jenny said.
Randy narrowed his eyes at her. "How?” "I can return all the properties that belonged to you. I’m sure all the witnesses here can hold me accountable."
"We'll do the same," James spoke up. Nothing was more important than Jenny's safety.
Randy seemed to believe them for a split second before quickly scoffing." What use would that be? Just because you'll return me to my former glory doesn't mean you won't also come after me later."
He knew there was no way things could ever go back to how they used to be, not with the police probably already gathered outside to take him in.
"But imagine the good it'd do for the rest of your family," Jenny said.
It didn't look like Randy was directed to do this tonight, so he'd likely be the only one in his family to be convicted for his crimes. The rest of the Glasses would still be able to enjoy their wealth and influence.
Sure enough, Randy grew silent with thought.
Jenny's proposal made sense. The sacrifice of one for the good of many… he was willing to do that.
"Will you really do it?" Randy asked hesitantly.
James huffed. 'You really think we can go back on our word with everyone here watching.' Randy glanced at the crowd, feeling more confident as he saw how many witnesses there were. 'I want you to write a guarantee."
Jenny pursed her lips. It's not like the Glasses could enforce it afterward. They barely had the influence to do so anymore.
Still, she kept her mouth shut. No need to upset Randy further now that he was about to give up on his plan to blow up everyone.
Graham had someone bring over pen and paper, writing down a guarantee before everyone's eyes, then signing it together with James. He then walked over to Randy with the paper in hand.
Just as he walked past Alec, the man stopped him. "Let me hand it to him, sir."
Graham shot him a look, but Alec swiftly took the papers and went up to Randy.
For some reason, Randy seemed scared of him. Don't…don't come any further.
Stay where you are."
"What are you afraid of? I'm not the one with the bombs." Alec stayed put, however.
"I’m warning you. Don't you dare play any tricks, or I'll send us both to hell right now!” Randy warned, tugging at Jenny’s arm. He knew how dear Jenny was to Alec, so holding her hostage would ensure Alec didn't try to attack him.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 819-Turn of Events Alec huffed a laugh, then raised his palms in the air to indicate he wasn't going to do anything. He then slowly walked over to Randy and handed him the guarantee.
Just as everyone thought the danger would pass, a voice came from the crowd.
"He isn't actually going to believe them, is he? I mean, who here would even stand with the Glasses to enforce the guarantee? Is he that naive?"
Randy immediately dragged Jenny back upon hearing it, his expression shifting drastically.
"Naive? Haha…hahaha!" He cackled hysterically. Though the guarantee had been a shifty idea, he had still held out hope. He hadn't wanted to commit suicide that night, either.
But it was too late now.
"Let's all fucking die then, shall we?!" Randy roared, pressing the detonator.
Before he could, Jenny swiftly wrestled out of his grip and reached for the device.
"Get out of the way!" she cried, diving for it.
Someone reached out at the very last second, then came the loud sound of bones breaking.
"Fuck!" Randy yelped out in pain, his voice echoing throughout the entire hall.
But no one paid him any mind. They were only focused on where the remote control was.
Seeing it was now out of his hands, the crowd heaved a sigh of relief, hugging one another and crying tears of joy.
Jenny looked at Alec, grumbling, "Why did you step in? You could've gotten hurt by the blast radius."
"Look who's talking." If Alec hadn't stepped in earlier, Jenny would've missed the device by seconds too. Who knows what would've happened to any of them?
Jenny pouted. ’I cant exactly run away. This is my event."
The family would become the city's laughingstock if she’d run.
"Not even the Walters are worth sacrificing your own," Alec said, annoyed.
Nothing was more important to him than Jenny. Naturally, he hadn't been very happy with her decision to linger because of her family. Still, he didn't have the right to comment on that.
Jenny was about to argue further when Graham and Evan came up to her, so she settled for a gentle, "Thank you."
Alec smiled, immediately loosening up.
"Are you okay, Jen?" Evan asked worriedly.
He would’ve run up to save Jenny if Alec didn't interfere. He just didn't have the chance earlier.
Jenny nodded. "Yeah. Just keep the guests safe for the time being. Have them wait for the police to disarm the bombs before leaving."
Randy, meanwhile, had been subdued by a few policemen. He stared blankly at his surroundings as if unsure of what was happening.
Jenny ignored him. The police would deal with him as they saw fit.
There were the dead guests to tend to, for now.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 820-their chance to go up to Randy to slap and kick at him with all their might.
As the guests left, Jenny recalled what was spoken when Randy was about to seize the guarantee. No one else had noticed, but Jenny had immediately recognized who had spoken-Yvonne Dickman.
She turned to find the woman, who immediately hid behind Brandon under her searing glare.
Brandon wasn't looking too good at the moment, either. He had heard Yvonne speak during that tense moment, thus incurring Jenny's wrath.
With a sneer, Jenny warned, "You better be careful, Mr. Britt. The rose you adore so much might bleed you with her thorns.'’ Brandon stiffened but said nothing.
"I…I didn't mean to." Came Yvonne's sheepish voice as she glanced innocently at Jenny, then at Brandon.
"Really?'' Jenny cocked a brow. "And who asked you?"
Whether Yvonne meant to do it on purpose or not, Jenny would do something to her soon if Brandon didn't first.
Yvonne wanted to speak up again, but Brandon had already dragged her out before she could.
Once all the guests left, Jenny sighed with relief that nothing more disastrous had taken place.
"Let's go home, Dad. I think we all need a break." She went to Graham, exhausted.
Graham nodded, tired too. He was mostly recovering from being terrified that his family would end at the hands of Randy Glass.
When they were about to leave, Stephanie ran up to Jenny while Paul was already in the middle of a conversation with Alec.
"Are you alright, Jenny?" She had wanted to run inside since they arrived, but Paul hadn't let her, telling her Jenny would be out any minute. Who knows how long Stephanie had waited outside, praying for her safety?
Jenny nodded, surprised to see her there. "Didn't you go back earlier? What're you doing here?"
"I came back because I was worried about you, silly."
Jenny smiled. "Everything's alright. I'm fine too. Come on. I'll send you home."
"Okay." Stephanie was glad to see her friend safe. She didn't want to stay a second longer, largely to stay away from Paul.
Just then, Paul said, "I'll send you back."
Seeing him come up to her, Stephanie shook her head, stepping back. "No, no, thank you. I can go home by myself."
"I'll have someone bring her home safe, Paul," Jenny said. No way would she let Stephanie get close to Paul when her friend was reluctant.
Paul ignored her. "Do you know how much danger you're in right now, Jenny Walter? Do you have any idea how many people are spying on you right this second?" Before Jenny could retort, Paul continued, "If they can't hurt you, they'll shift their target to those around you, including Stephanie. I can't let you have her sent home by just anyone. What if something happens to her?
