Ch. 801..810
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 801-Don't Get Too Ahead of Yourself Zeke's eyes swept across the room as he nodded. "You're right. There's nothing shameful as long as it's good for the family. Also, what's wrong with two single people getting married?’ He gave Julian a pointed glare, clearly expressing his displeasure with his remarks. Julian wanted to retort, but Isabelle restrained him. Zeke had made his thoughts clear. He didn't care about Luke's intentions as long as they benefitted the Fausts.
Frustrated, Julian turned to Alec, asking with his eyes, "They’re talking about your ex-wife. Why are you so calm?’ Alec didn't react. He silently ate his food, considering himself uninvolved in the discussion.
Zeke didn't look at him but said to Luke, "If you're interested in her, go after her.
However, don't use any underhanded methods because I won't clean up after you.’ He knew Luke's character, so he had to remind him not to cause any trouble. Although the Walters were not on the same level as the Fausts, if there was a falling out between the families, the Fausts wouldn't benefit from it.
"Don't worry, Grandpa, I know what to do." Luke smiled, feeling confident now that Zeke had given him the green light.
Zeke didn't dwell on the topic. Instead, he turned to Alec and said, "You've been doing well lately. That company you're in charge of has grown rapidly, and the people under you are all praising you.’ "You're joking. Those people are just trying to butter me up because I'm associated with the Fausts," Alec replied with a small smile, not seriously taking Zeke's compliment.
"You've proven yourself. Why don't you start working at the headquarters tomorrow? We'll put you in the business development department first. Is that alright?" Zeke asked.
Although Alec was stunned, he understood what was going on. "Of course, sure.
I'll follow your arrangements."
Zeke nodded and reminded Alec to report to the headquarters the next day.
Without another word, he got up and went upstairs to his study room.
After he left, Alec immediately felt several murderous glares landing on him.
"Alec, you have some skill," Xavier said. He didn't take Alec seriously at first because he believed that Zeke wouldn't hand the Faust family over to an outsider. However, Alec managed to obtain a position at the headquarters, whereas Xavier had to work at a smaller company for several years before being able to work there. If word about it got out, everyone would think Zeke had decided to hand the Faust family over to Alec, which would not be good news for Xavier.
Upon hearing Xavier's words, Alec simply smiled and said, "It's mainly because Mr. Faust values me and gives me opportunities. Otherwise, how would I manage to do this?"
Alec never treated Xavier and Yakov with the same reverence he reserved for Zeke because he was not afraid of them as he knew the power to make decisions within the Fausts did not lie with them. He even hoped that they would take action against him soon so that he could seize the opportunity to deal with them. Otherwise, who knows how long it would take for him to take control of the Faust family.
"Don't get too ahead of yourself. After all, you're just an outsider. Do you think my father will hand over the family to you?" Xavier sneered, believing that Zeke would not make such a mistake.
Alec put down his utensils and chuckled. "Who knows?"
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 802-vier was furious. "Are you just going to let him act that way?" he asked Yakov.
"If we have a fight, it's the Fausts' internal matter. We shouldn't let outsiders interfere, don't you think?"
Yakov nodded. "You're right."
"Since that’s the case, let's take care of him first." If Alec hadn't performed so well and didn't attract the attention of Zeke, he wouldn't want to kill him. After all, if their father found out, he would likely be unhappy. However, if Xavier didn't get rid of him, something bad might happen. Hence, he decided to team up with Yakov. If Zeke found out, they would both be implicated, and neither would have the upper hand in the situation.
Yakov didn't object to the proposal. Instead, he smiled and said, "Let's do as you say. I can't stand his arrogance either."
Although he always appeared aloof, there was no way he didn't want the Fausts' inheritance. As Xavier said, the Fausts' internal matters should be resolved among themselves, and outsiders like Alec should not interfere. Since Alec was interfering excessively, it was upsetting him.
After the two reached an agreement, Xavier left with Luke. Faust Manor was a huge compound with separate smaller houses so each could have their privacy.
Once they left, Julian asked, "Dad, are you really going to team up with Uncle Xavier? He's not a good person."
"Who in this family is a good person?" Yakov countered.
Pouting, Julian grumbled, "Well, I think you shouldn't team up with him. If you have to team up with someone, Alec is the better choice."
"Julian, I've been meaning to ask you this. Why do you think Alec is better than your uncle? Do you think he's a better person?" Yakov didn't know where his son got the idea from.
Julian was stunned. After careful consideration, he realized that he was influenced by what Jenny had told him. Since then, he had been helping Alec.
The realization terrified him. Why did she have such a big influence on him?
Why was he listening to her?
Nonetheless, Yakov wasn't upset over it. Instead, he said, "Neither your uncle nor Alec is a good person. If either of them takes over the Faust family, it will be a devastating blow to us. Therefore, we need to take over the family ourselves and take our destiny into our own hands."
He would never hand his fate over to anyone else.
"I know, but I don't think we have much chance of winning," Julian said, lowering his head. Although it was discouraging, it was a fact. In terms of power within the Faust family, they were no match for Xavier. In terms of ability, they were also inferior to Alec. Hence, Julian found it difficult to believe they could ultimately emerge victorious.
Seeing him like that, Yakov sighed and said, "When two people quarrel, the third rejoices. Have you never heard of that?"
Taken aback, Julian quickly understood what his father meant. Turning to him, he said, "I understand."
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 803-I'm Just Afraid I'll Disappoint You The banquet was held half a month after Graham's discharge from the hospital.
By then, his body had mostly recovered, but he was far from his former self.
In the lounge of the banquet hall, Jenny donned a light blue, high-end custommade dress and left her long wavy hair styled loosely in a relaxed do. Although she was stunningly beautiful, her expression didn't carry much joy. She knew the purpose of the banquet.
"Dad, you're still young and capable of running the company. There's no need to pass it on to me now." She couldn't manage the company, and even if it was entrusted to her, it would only be managed by other employees and professionals, which was meaningless.
Graham sat down beside her. He wasn't angry when he heard her say that." I'm getting old. After this incident, I suddenly realized something…! used to think there was still a lot of time, and I wanted to wait until later to look for your mother. Now, I understand that accidents are always around the corner. So I don't want to wait any longer."
Now that he and Rowena were divorced, he wanted nothing but to find Jenny's mother. It had always been on his mind, and Jenny knew it.
"I'm just afraid I'll disappoint you," Jenny said, feeling a great deal of pressure inheriting Walter Inc as it was a huge company. Although she technically didn't have to manage it, could she ignore it completely after taking over? Could she still have the freedom she has now? The answer was no.
Graham stroked her head dotingly. "Don't worry, I have chosen some very capable people for you. With them around, Walter Inc won't have any problems.
Even if the company goes bankrupt, the funds I have saved for you over the years are enough for you to spend for a lifetime."
He didn't have much property under his name because he transferred all of it to Jenny's name. Hence, Jenny was among the wealthiest of her peers in Bardoff City.
"Okay." Jenny nodded. She understood that there was no turning back at that point.
Noticing that she still seemed unhappy, Graham continued, 'Evan has been working at Walter Inc for half a month now. He is a skilled worker, so you should be more at ease with him around.’ Graham had given one of the departments of Walter Inc to Evan, partly to test his abilities and partly to let him gain some experience. If he could win Jenny's heart and gain the approval of everyone in Walter Inc, he could even become the general manager in the future.
"Evan…" Thinking of Evan, Jenny felt even more annoyed.
Graham patted her head and said, "Don't think too much about it for now. Let nature take its course. Besides, I'm not rushing you.” "Okay."
Soon, the banquet hall was bustling with people, and almost the entire upperclass society of Bardoff City had come to attend. Most people could guess the purpose of Graham's banquet today, but they were all curious about why he suddenly made that decision. Was his health failing? Many people had come to find out.
After all, if Graham was really in trouble, it was inevitable that people would start having plans and ideas. Jenny had just taken over Walter Inc. How capable could she be?
Soon, Alec and Blake arrived at the venue. Alec carried a stoic expression that seemed to say, "Strangers are not allowed to interact with me." Blake, on the other hand, stood next to him with a smile on her face.
"Alec, cheer up. If you keep this up, people will think we have a big grudge against the Walters," Blake said with a smile, pulling at his sleeve.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 804-rested in those two, he couldn't be sure if he understood Jenny anymore.
"Alec?" Blake saw that he was lost in thought while staring at Luke and Julian and asked worriedly, "What's wrong? Is there something going on with them?"
"Nothing," Alec shook his head, not intending to say anything to her.
Blake's face fell. Since Alec's memory recovered, he had not been as transparent with her as before. It was clear that he had his guard up against her.
That was not good news, and she needed to find a way to overcome it.
At the banquet, with people crowding around, Stephanie found a quiet corner to sit in and enjoy her champagne. She was not qualified to attend this kind of banquet, nor did she want to. However, since Jenny was the star of the event, she had to come for her best friend. However, she felt like she was being watched from the moment she entered the banquet hall. Although she couldn't see who it was when she looked around, she remained vigilant and decided to greet Jenny and leave soon after. She'd celebrate with her privately another day.
Soon, the lights in the venue dimmed, and the spotlight was turned on.
Graham appeared with Jenny on stage. Without beating around the bush, he announced that Jenny would be taking over the Walters and Walter Inc while he would be stepping down from the front line and would no longer be managing the affairs of the group.
When Jenny took the microphone, she smiled at the crowd. "Thank you all for attending the event today. As my father just said, starting today, I will be taking over Walter Inc. However, as you all know, I don't have much experience in this field, so I hope everyone can help me in the future."
It was a very humble statement, and everyone in the audience hurriedly complimented her.
"However, it's not advisable that you try to take advantage of the situation to cause trouble for Walter Inc just because I lack experience. After all, I'm not a pushover, and Walter Inc is not to be trifled with."
She turned to the people below the stage, making them nervous. Her sharp gaze made them tense, as if she could see through their little schemes with just one look. They all laughed nervously.
Jenny was pleased by their reaction. She had made it clear that she was not easily bullied. "Well then, have a great time tonight, everyone."
As she finished speaking and was about to leave, Graham stopped her and took the microphone. He smiled and said, "Besides my daughter today, there is another person I would like to introduce to you all."
Then, Evan was called up on stage.
After praising him, Graham talked about his employment in Walter Inc. He was implying that he was the successor, which confused everyone.
However, they quickly understood the situation when they saw how Evan looked at Jenny. Graham was trying to matchmake the two.
It was a logical decision as Jenny had no interest in managing the company. If it were left to his son-in-law, Graham would be very relieved. Once they understood that, they started looking at Evan in a different light. After all, he would take over the Walters in the future, so they held him in high regard.
Meanwhile, Jenny was speechless. Graham hadn't told her about it beforehand, so she had no idea how to deal with the situation.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 805-Please Get to the Point Once the three of them exited the stage, Jenny muttered, "Dad, why didn't you stick to the plan?"
"From now on, Evan will help you manage Walter Inc. Why not let everyone know about your relationship?" Graham laughed as if he couldn't see the resentment in Jenny's eyes.
Jenny rolled her eyes, thinking to herself, "Are you serious?"
Feigning ignorance, Graham made an excuse and left, leaving the two of them alone.
Evan smiled at Jenny and said, "Don't be angry with Mr. Faust. He only wants what's best for you and hopes you have more people to rely on.’ 1 "In this day and age, it's every man for himself, and the devil takes the hindmost. Can we truly rely on others?" Jenny had never considered such a thing.
Evan, however, couldn't help but laugh at her. He even playfully flicked her forehead. "You're still so stubborn after all these years. Can't you give in a little?"
If Jenny yielded a little, he would be willing to give her anything, even his life.
Standing so close together, anyone who saw them would have misunderstood their relationship.
Alec happened to be nearby. His expression wasn't good, to begin with. Upon seeing them, his face fell.
When Jenny spotted him, she trembled. However, she quickly composed herself and asked, "Mr. Faust, is there anything we can help you with?"
"I need to talk to you," he said, emphasizing, "Alone."
Jenny was about to refuse, but Evan spoke first, "Why do you need to talk to Jenny alone? Why don't you tell me first? If it's about Walter Inc, you don't need to look for Jenny. She's not in charge of business matters."
Evan knew what Alec was up to and refused to allow him to get what he wanted.
"Why must you be involved in my conversation with Jenny?" Alec merely glanced at him.
"Evan, why don't you go and do something else? Didn't Dad want to introduce some people to you? Go meet them," Jenny suggested, not wanting to see them argue.
Evan frowned, but he didn't object. "Alright, take care. Let me know if anything happens."
"Sure, don't worry." Jenny gave him a reassuring look, telling him not to overthink.
After Evan left, Jenny looked at Alec, and her smile disappeared instantly." Mr.
Faust, please get to the point."
"Why are you all smiles with him but so frustrated when it comes to me?' The change in Jenny's expression upset him. Once upon a time, Jenny also smiled at him too.
Rolling her eyes at him, Jenny thought, "Why else am I like this?’ "Mr. Faust, please get to the point," she repeated firmly, not wanting to waste any more time with him.
Even if she disregarded her decision to stop being entangled with Alec, he was still an item with Blake. If Jenny got too close, Blake might think she was trying to seduce Alec. Since the issue with the Glasses had just been resolved, the Walters needed to conserve their resources and not make any more enemies.
Alec had no idea what was going on in her head. To him, his relationship with Blake was merely a business partnership. He didn't think of her as his girlfriend.
"Are you sure you want to talk here?" he asked. Even though they were in a corner, people could still come by. Judging by his serious expression, Jenny guessed he wanted to discuss their collaboration.
"Follow me," she said, leading him to the lounge.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 806-Sorry Evan, who was standing nearby, had been observing everything. His face was shrouded with gloom, and his eyes flashed with a murderous gleam, but he quickly composed himself because he was beside Graham.
Blake also noticed Alec and Jenny as she never let Alec out of her sight. When she saw him leave with Jenny, she was tempted to rush over and scream that Jenny was a homewrecker. But she held herself back. She was at the Walters' event, representing the Watkins. It would not be good for either of them if she did that.
Alec locked the door behind him after they entered the lounge.
Jenny frowned and eyed him suspiciously. "What are you doing?"
"I'm just worried that someone might come in suddenly. Did you think I would harm you?" Alec asked with a wry smile. Was he such a terrible person in Jenny's eyes?
Jenny didn't think he would harm her; she just found his behavior puzzling." Can we talk about it now?" she asked.
Alec nodded and walked over to sit down. He motioned for her to sit as he needed to have a serious talk with her. Jenny frowned again but still sat opposite him and waited for him to speak. ’My memory has fully recovered, " he finally announced after a long silence.
Their eyes met, and Jenny didn't understand why he said that. She was the one who performed the surgery. How could she not know?
"Jenny, I'm sorry." Looking at her, Alec's face carried many emotions. Above all of them was love—restrained love.
Jenny's mood plummeted. She had no idea why her mood had abruptly dropped.
"Do you know what I was thinking when I jumped off the cliff on the day of the accident?’ Alec said, staring at her. ’I wasn't afraid of death at the time. The first thought that came to my mind was that if I died, I would never see you again.
You said that once the Glasses' affairs were resolved, you would agree to be with me. But I lost my memory when it finally happened. I was so close to having you back. On the day my memory was restored, I only felt pain, so much pain. But it wasn't the pain from the surgery. It was a pain in my heart." Alec's eyes turned red. He had wanted to say these words to Jenny for a long time, but he never had the chance.
When he saw Jenny and Evan standing together, the two of them being so intimate, and Graham decided to take Evan as his successor that day, he knew that if he delayed it any longer, he would stand no chance.
Jenny remained silent. She lowered her head so Alec couldn't see the tears in her eyes. Finally, she composed herself and faced him with a small smile.
"Why are you telling me all this? It's all in the past, isn't it? You swore before that your liking for me was due to psychological problems, and even if your memory returned, you wouldn't like me."
Alec was silent as he remembered uttering those words. However, he had lost his memory back then and had no idea how deeply he loved Jenny, which was why he had spoken so carelessly and brazenly.
"Jenny, I hadn't regained my memory at that time-"
"Just because you lost your memory doesn't mean you should forget that you liked me."
Jenny believed that if a person genuinely loved someone, losing their memory wouldn't make them forget about their loved one. If they saw them again, they would be able to fall in love with them all over again, or at least Jenny would. As for Alec.Jt just meant he didn't love her enough.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 807-Give It Some Thought Alec didn't argue against that. He nodded and said, "Yes, even if I lose my memory, I will fall in love with you again."
Jenny opened her mouth, but no words came out of it.
"Isn't it true? Haven't you noticed that even though I lost my memory, I still paid more attention to you than others? I still cared about the other men around you and felt unhappy about them." Alec sighed. Even he had to admit that he was bound to Jenny by fate.
Jenny felt a pang in her heart. Perhaps she believed him, or perhaps she felt that Alec was making excuses. Looking at him, she said, "There's no point in saying all these now. After all, you have a girlfriend.' "Blake and I are just in a business relationship.’ Alec knew she misunderstood, so he quickly explained.
"A business relationship?" Jenny sneered at the thought. She was not a young child who was easily deceived.
Sighing, Alec told Jenny everything—from the moment he was awakened by Blake to their collaboration and the development of their relationship.
Jenny, however, seemed mildly surprised. "So, you got in a relationship with Blake just to take over the Faust family?"
"Yes." That was Alec's truth.
Jenny laughed, asking, "Is that the only way you can win the Fausts over? Is faking a relationship with Blake the only method you could employ? If that's the case, you are not the Alec I know.’ Alec had always been confident in his abilities. Did he need to work with Blake in such a way? So what if Blake was the daughter of the Watkins? Did she have any say in the family? Perhaps the only reason she had some say now was that she was together with Alec. After all, the Watkins also wanted to support a Faust successor. Unfortunately, Alec didn't understand that.
"Alec, it's not wrong for you to work with the Watkins," Jenny said." However, you must choose the right way. Did you really need to work with Blake like that?
I don't think so. If you offered them enough benefits and incentives, the Watkins would have cooperated with you even without Blake in the equation."
In an instant, Alec figured everything out. He knew it all along, but perhaps he had lost some confidence in himself, or perhaps because Jenny suddenly became the daughter of the Walters, he became a bit impatient and resorted to those means.
Jenny made him understand that his choice to work with Blake was wrong.
When he was silent, Jenny stood up and said, "Give it some thought."
She got ready to leave. After all, she was the main character of the event, so she couldn't waste time here with Alec. However, before she could leave, he grabbed her wrist.
Standing up to face Jenny, he asked, "Jenny, can you give me another chance after Blake and I break up?"
He no longer hoped to be with Jenny after his breakup; he just wanted a chance.
Jenny pushed Alec's hand away and said, "Alec, I have given you countless chances. Have you cherished them?"
"Jenny…"
"Even if I give you another chance, who can guarantee there won’t be a next time? How many more chances do you want?" She looked at him, feeling exhausted.
Alec couldn't say anything as he found himself despicable too.
"Alec, I'm tired. Let's leave it at that."
With that, she rose from her seat and strode out of the lounge, her gaze fixed firmly ahead, never once glancing back.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 808-Who Knows?
Jenny did not return to the event immediately after leaving the lounge. Instead, she went to the restroom to touch up her makeup. After confirming that she looked fine, she was about to return to the venue.
"What is going on between Evan and the Walters? From the looks of things, they're grooming him to be their successor."
Before Jenny could leave the restroom, she heard the discussion outside the door. Not wanting to be discovered, she quickly hid in a nearby storeroom.
"Who knows? Maybe he has an extraordinary background."
"An extraordinary background? Well, I think Mr. Walter wants to find a son- inlaw, and Evan is the person he chose."
After that was said, everyone was shocked, but after thinking about it, they felt it made sense. How else could they explain Graham's actions?
"Jenny is now in control of the Walters by herself. Graham must be worried, so he found himself a capable son-in-law, killing two birds with one stone."
Everyone nodded and agreed, "But I heard that Jenny and Alec from the Faust family were formerly married. That makes things rather complicated."
"Yes, but let's not underestimate Alec. He is now with the Watkins' daughter.
With their support, he might be able to take over the Faust family. II Everyone laughed, taking it as a joke. No one thought Zeke would hand over the family to an outsider like Alec.
Listening to their discussions, especially when they mentioned that Evan would become the son-in-law of the Walters, Jenny felt particularly uneasy. Evan was very capable. Even if he didn't join the Walters, he could still make a name for himself. Jenny didn't want to affect him.
Soon, they left the restroom, and Jenny followed suit, returning to the venue.
However, she felt a bit down because of what she had just overheard.
"What's wrong?" Evan appeared beside her. He was a bit worried seeing Jenny not in a good mood.
She shook her head, intending to discuss him joining Walter Inc. However, she spotted Brandon nearby. If it was only him, Jenny couldn't care less. However, the person next to Brandon caught her eye. It was Yvonne.
Just as she was about to forget about her, she appeared before her again.
"Miss Walter." Brandon walked up to Jenny. "No, I should call you President Walter now, right?"
"Don't be so polite, Mr. Britt. I'm just the president by name." Jenny smiled in response, not saying much.
Regarding Brandon, she really wanted him to marry Jolene. After all, the two of them weren't exactly the best people, making them perfect for each other.
However, everything had changed.
"Hello, Miss Dickman." Jenny glanced at Yvonne and sneered, "Miss Dickman, let's not pretend to be strangers. We were quite familiar with each other before."
Brandon was stunned to hear that. Frowning, he asked, "Do you two know each other?"
"Of course," Jenny answered. Her tone was unpleasant. While she did not elaborate, it was clear that she knew Yvonne and didn't like her very much.
Brandon could also sense that; although he was curious, he didn't ask about it.
"Congratulations, Miss Walter, on inheriting the Walter family." He had come mainly to congratulate Jenny. There had been some unpleasant encounters before, but he considered them minor issues. Hence, there could be opportunities for future cooperation between them.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 809-What Do You Want to Talk About?
Jenny reluctantly replied to Brandon with a smile. Although she disliked him, she wouldn't disrespect him on such an occasion. After a few exchanges, he left.
Soon after, Yvonne came to talk to Jenny. "Let's talk, Jenny," she said calmly.
Jenny, mildly intrigued about what she had to say, let out a light chuckle as she asked, "What do you want to talk about?"
"Let's forget about the past and focus on our new lives. I won't come to trouble you in the future, and I hope you won't make things difficult for me either,"
Yvonne said.
From how Brandon treated Jenny, she was worried that if Brandon knew about her grievances with Jenny, he might change his mind about her.
Yvonne was with Brandon now, not to become his woman but to pursue greater things. If Jenny caused her any problems, her plans would be ruined.
Jenny was amused. Wondering where Yvonne got the confidence to say such things, she asked, "You? Trouble me? Yvonne, do you think you are in the position to say that?"
She had just inherited the Walter family. Even if she hadn't, had Yvonne ever prevailed against her? Someone who had never won against her had no right to threaten her.
Yvonne's face fell, and she gritted her teeth. "I know you're powerful now, but even the strongest people are afraid of being targeted by others, right? I'll tell you straight up." Yvonne continued to threaten. "I finally got together with Brandon, and if you mess it up for me, even if I die, I'll make you pay."
Jenny wasn't afraid when she heard her harsh words. Instead, they made her furious. As Yvonne tried to stare her down, she walked up to Yvonne and slapped her. "Do you want to know where we are? This is my family's territory.
How dare you threaten me here? Let me tell you, even if I kill you today, no one will take your side, including Brandon!"
Jenny knew what kind of person Brandon was. Although he liked women, he wouldn't lose his mind over one.
Yvonne covered her face. She was fuming inside, but she knew what Jenny said was true. She was nothing but an insignificant ant in front of her. No matter how much she hated the fact, she couldn't change it.
"Do you feel better now? Let's consider whatever happened in the past even with this slap. What do you think?" Although Yvonne was angry, she couldn't lash out at Jenny. All she could do was try to convince Jenny to stop.
Unfortunately, Jenny refused to comply. Rubbing her slightly sore palm, she said, "This slap is for Alicia. Jonathan ended up where he did mainly because of you, yet you don't feel any guilt. On top of that, you also dragged Alicia into it.
Don't you know that Jonathan paid you his life so you would pay for his sister's medical treatment? Did you ever consider the consequences of bringing her into this? Will you only be satisfied when they are both dead?"
Jenny had an inkling that Alicia had come looking for her for a reason. There had to be someone who told her something. Although she had guessed it was Yvonne at the time, she hadn't seen her and didn't know she had come to Bardoff City. Now that Yvonne was in front of her, she could almost confirm that Alicia showed up because of the woman.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 810-Satisfy My Curiosity Yvonne made no retort to her accusations. In the face of such a large power disparity, refuting Jenny was futile. It would only result in a more severe beating.
"Get lost! Disappear from my sight," Jenny said, frustrated. The very sight of Yvonne disgusted her.
Yvonne got up and left, but she made a mental note to make Jenny pay when she married Brandon and took over the Britts. She thought she could manipulate someone as long as she shared the same bed with them as she had in her previous marriage. However, she forgot she was in Bardoff City, and no one there was that easy.
Jenny was so angry that it took her a while to calm down. When she turned around, Evan was still there. He had seen everything that had just happened, which made her feel a little embarrassed.
Evan handed her a glass of juice and said, "Are you thirsty? You talked for so long."
"Thank you, Evan,” Jenny said as she took the glass from him. The juice tasted rather good.
"She isn’t worth your time or words. I'll make sure she disappears and never shows up in front of you again," he promised. He didn't want Jenny to waste her time on someone like that.
Jenny was surprised. "Evan, how do you plan to do that?"
It was Evan's turn to be taken aback. He didn't expect Jenny to ask that." Don't think too much, Jenny. I just want her to leave Bardoff City, so you won't bump into her."
"Is that so?" Jenny didn’t believe him. The way Evan had spoken earlier made her feel like he wanted to kill Yvonne. She hoped it was just all in her head.
"Don't get involved. She's not worth it," Jenny said, not wanting Evan to waste his time on Yvonne, either.
Since Jenny had said so, Evan agreed. "Okay, I'll do what you say. After all, you're my boss now."
"Evan, you don't have to come to Walter Inc because of me. I believe you'll develop better if you didn't come to Walter Inc," Jenny said. Walter Inc was a large, established corporation, so it wouldn't be easy for Evan to make a name for himself there. It might be more rewarding for him to join a startup or start his own business.
Evan understood what she meant but had regrets over his decision." Jenny, being a head of a department in Walter Inc is what many people dream of. I'm happy just thinking about it. I wouldn't have had this opportunity if it weren't for you."
"Evan…"
"You're overthinking things. Coming to Walter Inc clearly benefits me, so why do you act like I'm losing out? Jenny, you don't need to be like this," Evan said, feeling a little exasperated.
In response to his persistence, Jenny didn't know what to say and could only sigh, "I'm just afraid you won't be able to fully utilize your talents at Walter Inc."
"Don't worry, if I can't do it at Walter Inc, I won't be able to do it anywhere else,” he replied, adding, "As for starting my own business, I don't have any plans yet.
If I do, I'll let you know. Don't worry. I won't let myself suffer a loss."
"Okay, if you ever want to leave Walter Inc, just let me know." Jenny nodded, not wanting to say much more.
"What did Alec want to talk about?" Evan suddenly asked, curious about it.
It caught Jenny by surprise. A little frustrated, she asked, "Evan, when did you become such a gossip?"
"Can't you satisfy my curiosity?" Evan asked.
"Stephanie seems to be looking for me. I'm going to see what's up," Jenny said, avoiding the topic. She walked over to Stephanie, who was nearby, leaving Evan and his question in her wake
