Ch. 721..730
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 721-Don't Forget Whose Side You're On The Glasses were in an uproar. They had called her early in the morning, demanding to know why she hadn't informed them of such important news.
Rowena would have liked to, but she had no idea what was happening. Graham had done this all behind her back. He had not let her in on anything.
Jenny took her phone out and took a look at the news. It was true.
Who had leaked this?
It could not be the Walters or the Windsors. The Glasses were suspicious, but since they could not confirm it, they had no reason to make themselves implode.
It would not have benefitted them at all.
She kept her suspicions to herself. She ignored Rowena, which incensed her.
"Jenny Walter! I know you don't like me, but you didn't have to convince your father to go against my family! The Glasses are my family. What would the outsiders think of you making Graham do this? Aren't you afraid that the Walters will be counterattacked?"
Jenny looked at her and smirked. "You think too highly of yourself, don't you?"
Counterattacked?
Rowena wasn't worth all that.
"You!" Rowena was furious. "This is a symbiotic relationship! The Walters and the Windsors can target the Glasses, but what about the next time? The other elites are going to think that you're both too powerful. They'll team up and attack you next!"
Rowena's words made sense. Jenny was afraid of this, which was why Graham and James carried out their plans quietly. Now that it was exposed and out in the open, the Glasses would definitely ask the other families for help.
Things would get tricky from now on.
"Since you're so afraid about a war happening between the elites, why don't you tell the Glasses that this is all a misunderstanding and that they don't have to get the other elites to help?’ Jenny looked at Rowena with a smile on her face.
Rowena couldn't believe what she had heard. She looked at Jenny, for a moment not knowing who was the fool.
"If you're worried about the Walters, you'll get your father to stop. The Walters and Glasses are not on such bad terms with each other that this has to happen."
The Glasses were her family. If they were destroyed, she would not have a happy ending.
Her plan was to take over Walter Inc with the Glasses and Graham's uncle's help. They had just started their plan. However, the Walters were already several steps ahead, teaming up with the Windsors to maim the Glasses.
If this continued, the first ones to be taken out of the battlefield would be the Glasses.
Jenny ate her breakfast, smiling at Rowena's words. 'You and I know nothing about business, Rowena. Just stay at home and stop yourself from worrying so much."
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 722- Let's Hope You Don't Regret This Jenny smirked. "You think too highly of me. I could never change my father's decision.’ "Are you really going to turn the family against all the other Elites in Bardoff City, Jenny?" Rowena asked harshly.
Jenny hummed nonchalantly. "You should tell Dad if you're worried about the Glasses. He might be able to help."
"You!" Rowena yelled, about to lunge at Jenny. But she held herself back, knowing she was no match for Jenny.
She took a deep breath to calm down.
"Let's hope you don't regret your choices today," she said before leaving dramatically.
Jenny didn't know where she was going or what she would do next, but something told her it wasn't anything good.
She then called Alfred to have some of his men keep an eye on Rowena in case she messed with their plans. She also reminded him about the bar opening. It was best to do it soon; otherwise it'd only get tiring for him if he had to keep handling errands alone.
Jenny soon finished her breakfast and left for Bardoff Hospital. The neurosurgical lab was already packed with activity when she arrived. They had all crowded the department upon hearing of a new colleague.
Jenny went to her superior's office to clock in. The man was partial to her skills as a surgeon as well as a witness to her academic ability, so he more than welcomed her to the lab.
"Work hard, Jenny, and I’m sure you'll soon find yourself in my shoes," the man praised her, though Jenny only gave a perfunctory smile. "C'mon and meet your colleagues."
He soon gathered everyone in the conference room and quickly introduced Jenny to them, then had them return to their posts.
"Would you mind showing Jenny around. Dr. Forbes?" he asked a senior surgeon.
Michael Forbes, who had worked there for some time, gave Jenny a friendly smile. "Sure."
After the man left, Michael led Jenny to the surgery rooms firsts and then to different labs, where she was introduced to the hospital's outline. It was her first time there, after all.
Jenny couldn’t start as the deputy director in her department as she did in Parrington Hospital. But she didn't mind. All that mattered was that she could help others.
The whole day was spent following Michael around and picking up on the flow in the hospital. Jenny ended up clocking out without having performed any surgeries or checkups. Her plan to invite everyone to dinner fizzled when she noticed how busy they were. She was about to leave when Derrick Clearwater caught up with her.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 723-I
You Misunderstood Me "You really are here! I was getting worried you wouldn't be coming.' Derrick had been looking out for news of Jenny these few days as he needed to decide whether he should date McKenna. When his colleague said a new neurologist was coming in, he immediately thought it might be Jenny, and sure enough, here she was.
Displeasure flared in Jenny's eyes for a split second before she responded, "Mhm. Today’s my first day.' "I'm glad to hear it. Wanna celebrate?’ Derrick then decided to take action. While McKenna's father was a director, Derrick had bigger appetites beyond mere nurses, and Jenny was right up his alley.
Jenny just didn't want to be involved with this man. She didn't have a good feeling about him. "Not today, I'm afraid. I already have plans.' "Great! Let's go, then. We’re all friends, aren't we?’ Derrick beamed as if they were really close friends.
Jenny could only maintain a polite smile. They were acquaintances at most, even while studying. As much as she wished to get rid of Derrick, they were still colleagues, so she couldn't risk making a scene.
"Ah…another day, maybe. My treat, she said.
Derrick nodded. "I'll hold you to your word.” "Mhm." There was a cafeteria in the hospital that would be the perfect place fortheir meal together, she thought. She promised she'd treat him to dinner, not where it would be.
Jenny then left the hospital for home.
After she left, McKenna came up to Derrick, who was still staring off into the distance with a happy expression. She asked coldly, "What do you think you're doing?"
Derrick nearly jumped with fright. "Shit! You scared me, McKenna!' "You wouldn't have been scared if you weren't feeling guilty," McKenna huffed.
She had seen how Derrick looked at Jenny earlier with those puppydog eyes of his.
A week ago, Derrick would've immediately given a whole explanation of his motives just to appease McKenna, but now that he was going to pursue Jenny, he wouldn't waste his time doing so anymore.
Derrick cleared his throat. "What do you mean, McKenna? I have nothing to be scared of."
"Really? So what, do you like her or something?" McKenna demanded, pointing in the direction Jenny had just gone to.
To her surprise, Derrick didn't try to lie like he used to. Instead, he replied, "I do, McKenna. I really do."
The woman was stunned upon hearing that, gaze filled with disbelief. "You just said yesterday that I was your one and only. Were you lying to me, you jerk?!"
"You misunderstood me, McKenna. What I meant yesterday was that you're the only person I care for like a sister," Derrick said.
Sister? McKenna had honestly never met such a lousy piece of shit in her life before. When was she a sister when they flirted with each other?
She wanted to slap Derrick but stopped herself when she recalled that they were in public.
"Fuck you, Derrick Clearwater. What the hell do you take me for, huh?" Her eyes were already red, brimming with tears. Sure, she didn't grow up rich, but not once had her parents been so unkind to her.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 724-Trial by Combat "I know you like me, McKenna, but please understand, I only do like you as a sister,’ Derrick repeated as if he was the one being wronged.
Now that she had seen how big an asshole Derrick was, any lingering feelings she had for him had dissipated entirely. "Just you fucking wait, you dick!"
She’d make sure Derrick would pay for treating her like a lovesick idiot!
As she stormed away, Derrick couldn’t help but worry about his job stability.
McKenna’s father was his superior, after all, so he would be in deep shit if they really planned to punish him. But still, the man was known to keep personal and professional matters apart, so Derrick might not suffer too much at his hands.
Plus, it's not like he reached beyond first base with McKenna.
Derrick relaxed upon reassuring himself. Now he should focus on how to score with Jenny.
He gave his friends in Parrington a call to update himself on Jenny's life there.
Because of this call, he came to hear Jenny's true identity as the daughter of the Walter family. A family that was one of the Ten Elites of Bardoff City.
Though Derrick had never gotten so much as a glimpse of the Ten Elites, he had still heard of them.
It suddenly felt surreal how close he was to one of the Elites. His worries for life after marriage with Jenny swiftly dissipated as well. Not only would he gain a reputation after marrying her, but he'd also no longer have to worry about not living well.
Derrick snickered at the thought, as if he had actually married Jenny.
Jenny, meanwhile, had long forgotten about him. To her, any more time spent dealing with that man was time wasted.
"A letter for you, miss." The butler handed her an envelope.
"Letter? Who still writes letters these days," she thought.
Jenny curiously opened the letter to read its contents, then nearly went into a laughing fit.
Just then, Graham came to peer at the letter from beside her. His face immediately turned ugly.
"I forbid you from going to this nonsense!" he cried, then snatched the paper from Jenny's grasp. "We’re living in modern times, for God's sake. What is this 'trial by combat' nonsense? What if you get hurt?” Jenny shrugged. She never in her life expected someone to issue such a challenge to her either. Still, shocked as she was, it wasn't entirely uncommon in the fighting world. "Don't worry, Dad. This is just something that happens sometimes."
Of course, one could choose to not accept the challenge, though this meant an automatic defeat hence why most people choose to accept it. Including Jenny, who thought it would be embarrassing for her and her master if she refused this challenge.
Graham grumbled, "I should never have hired that man to teach you if I'd known this would happen."
"Dad, that was one of the best decisions you made for me. You have no idea how many people have tried to mess with me over the years." Not just mess with, but they even tried to kill her. Jenny was just really grateful she didn't quit when she was younger. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, as they say.
Every opponent she ever met only made her stronger.
That was why she was confident she could win this challenge.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 725-Self-Destruct Graham was conflicted. On the one hand, he was grateful he had arranged fighting lessons for Jenny, but on the other, he didn't want to put her at risk just because she could fight.
"So you're saying you'll accept the challenge?" he asked, tone clouded with worry.
Jenny nodded. "Of course. Mr. Munster would be humiliated if I didn't."
"But what if-’ "You really don't have to worry, Dad. I know how to protect myself. Plus, these challenges usually aren't to the death." Of course, that didn't mean she wouldn't get injured. It was just a matter of how serious the injury would be.
Knowing that she had made her decision, Graham knew he couldn't stop her anymore. "I can't change your mind, I guess. Please keep yourself safe."
"I will," Jenny said with a grin.
They then had dinner together in silence, putting the topic to rest. After several moments of tense silence, Jenny asked, ’You haven't heard from Rowena yet?"
"I have." Graham nodded. "She doesn't want me to go down this road of annihilation and that if I choose to continue, I'll be digging my own grave."
He nearly laughed upon remembering what she said. It'd be the Glass family's grave they dig.
"Hm. We still need to be careful of any allies they seek to their aid," Jenny said.
It was taxing enough for just the two families to take the Glasses down.
Theirs was a house of cards if any other Elite families stepped in to the Glasses' aid.
Graham knew it too. "We knew this wouldn't be an easy task, so we've prepared ourselves for the worst."
"Alright." Jenny sighed with relief. James and her father's combined power would be enough to handle most things.
The father and daughter continued their dinner, and not even till its end did Rowena return, which was a rare sight.
Across the city, the atmosphere in the Glass family villa had sunken into tense dread.
Wayne glared at his sister, asking sternly, "How could you have not noticed them plotting this? Are you even on our side anymore, Rowena?’ "Watch your tone, Wayne. Do you really think I would betray our family? I wouldn't be here right now otherwise!"
Not wanting to escalate things in their family when they were already under threat as a whole, Wayne sighed, "I didn't mean that. I never thought Graham would be so cruel as to do this to you and your family."
His words hit Rowena right in the heart. When she first heard about this plot, she was dumbstruck too. Dumbstruck and hurt that Graham would do this behind her back.
That was the reason for her determination to save her family. Otherwise, she might get in trouble too.
"It's no use talking about this right now. Let's just find a way to get out of it, "
Rowena sighed.
Wayne nodded. He could feel a headache coming. "What way is there for us?
We're no match for the Walters, not to mention the Windsors.’ "That's no reason to give up." Rowena shook her head. If even Wayne was this dejected, there wouldn't be much hope for their family anymore.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 726-Set on Destroying Her Randy, who had been silent all this while, suddenly spoke up, "Dad, I don't think the other families will just sit back and let them destroy us. Their system would fall into turmoil too."
Rowena nodded. "Randy is right. We need to find allies in the other families too.
I'm sure well find a way out of this."
"I hear you." Wayne nodded contemplatively, though he still felt uncertain. Why would the Walters go through all that trouble if things were that easy?
Still, there was no better option now. All they could do was take things one step at a time. If worse came to worst, he could ask the other Elite families ' help to defeat the Walters. He could even air out all the spoils for their taking. There must be one family who’d step in to help with that condition in mind.
While the Glasses were in the midst of discussing their battle plans, the Walters and Windsors were no longer hiding their motives. Their plans were quickly put into place, even slowing down the Glasses' progress.
After work, Jenny went to the location of the challenge sent to her. She still couldn't guess who it was that sent it to her. The location was a grassy field out in the Bardoff countryside, away from the hubbub of the city.
Jenny stood waiting for a while before footsteps sounded from behind her.
It was a woman she hadn't seen before.
"Jenny Walter?" she asked before Jenny could speak.
Jenny nodded. "And you?"
"Melissa Collins, the disciple of Madam Olanna Roy," the woman stated, giving Jenny a bow out of respect.
Olanna Roy? Jenny froze up instantly. Mr. Munster had mentioned her before. In fact, the two seemed to be lifelong friends…
"I practiced under Mr. Tywin Munster. I believe you know him."
Sure enough, Melissa's eyes widened upon hearing that name. "Oh, you're Master Munster's disciple-’ "Yes, so may I ask why you challenge me? Because as far as I can recall, we've never met. There's nothing between us that needs to be resolved."
Melissa nodded, then turned and walked toward the trees. When she walked out again, she wasn't alone anymore. Jenny recognized this stranger, though she couldn't immediately recall who she was.
"I practiced under Madam Olanna alongside Jonathan Flynn. This is his kid sister, who tasked me to serve this trial to you," Melissa explained. She wasn't close with Jonathan, but they were still disciples under the same master, so she couldn't exactly reject his sister's request for her help without looking bad. That was why she had sent the trial by combat challenge in the first place.
But after hearing who Jenny trained under, she finally understood why Jonathan lost.
Jenny meanwhile remembered Alicia Flynn. When she had Zack investigate why Jonathan was on her tail back then, they stumbled across information on his kid sister, Alicia, how she was hospitalized and needed money for her treatment. That was the reason Jonathan accepted Yvonne's task—she would pay for his sister's treatment. In the end, Jenny wired the money to the hospital so Alicia could get treated.
Basically, she went and saved someone who was set on destroying her.
Jenny really didn't know what to feel about the situation. She gazed at Alicia, whose eyes were burning with killing intent. "So you want to kill me?'
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 727-Kill Her!
"Yes, yes, I damned well do!" Alicia hissed. If she had the skills necessary to defeat Jenny, she wouldn't have asked for Melissa's help.
"Why? Because of your brother's death?" Jenny asked though she had guessed it would be because of it.
Alicia didn't hide the truth any longer. "He was my last living family until you killed him, you bitch. I'll avenge him if it's the last thing I do!"
"Heh. Yvonne Dickman is your brother's real killer. Why aren't you seeking revenge on her?" Jonathan wouldn't have died if Yvonne hadn't given him that task.
But Alicia was in no mood to listen. "She's responsible, yes, but you're the main culprit!"
Jenny sighed. No point wasting her breath with stubbornness. She looked at Melissa. "Alright. Let's start."
She'd see for herself if Melissa had what it takes to overpower her.
Melissa glanced at Alicia, then at Jenny. ’I trust you know the rules."
"Yes." Jenny nodded with a smile.
Alicia retreated to a corner to watch the two. Melissa had told her that she wouldn't kill Jenny even if given the chance, so Alicia was waiting for the right moment to end Jenny's life herself.
As for whatever consequences came next, she didn't bother considering it. All that mattered was avenging her brother.
The two women swiftly exchanged hits and punches to the point where not even Alicia could keep up.
Meanwhile, in a villa situated in the nearby mountains, Yvonne was gazing at the fight through a telescope, cheering for Jenny's opponent.
"Kill her! Kill the bitch!" she growled out internally.
Just then, someone hugged her from behind. "What're you looking at, hm?"
"Oh, nothing. Just the gorgeous scenery.* Yvonne peeled her eye away from the scope and turned back to the man behind her.
Brandon grinned, Yvonne's coquettish demeanor successfully seducing him.
"Why'd you think to come here all of a sudden?"
"It's so quiet, don't you think? Wonderful place for two people to spend time together on their date.’ Yvonne winked at Brandon, slowly rubbing her body against his.
Unable to hold himself back any longer, Brandon picked her up into her arms and went straight for bed.
Yvonne silently smirked. She had had a hell of a time after the divorce and planned to drag Jenny down with her-only to realize both Jenny and Alec had moved to Bardoff City.
So with great hatred in her heart, she moved there as well. Yvonne had then drifted through the streets, getting to know the power layout of the city. That's when she decided to climb her way up to the top again, whether or not it took sacrificing her body.
Brandon Britt thus became her first target, which, as seen from his reaction, she easily took care of. The next step was to marry him. It wouldn't be easy given her lowly status and Brandon being one of the Elites.
But Yvonne needed to marry this man no matter what. It was the only way to heighten her social status.
As for Jenny and Alec…she'd get revenge on them in time.
For now, she'd have to satisfy the man in bed.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 728-What Are You Planning?
Upon seeing James, Brandon greeted him, "Mr. Windsor? You're here too?"
James simply nodded expressionlessly, clearly not interested in talking to Brandon. Brandon could tell, so he turned his attention to Graham, who was the real reason he was there. He quickly started chatting with Graham and was able to make him laugh.
Jenny sat beside them, quietly eating, pleased with the situation.
"What are you planning?" James whispered to her, sensing that there was a reason she had brought Brandon.
Jenny grinned and answered, "Don't you think Brandon and Jolene are a good match?"
It caught James by surprise, but he quickly understood what she meant. After taking a look at Brandon, he grinned back at her and said, "Yes, they are indeed a good match."
After the meal, the four of them left the restaurant. Graham patted Brandon on the shoulder and said, "Pay me a visit whenever you're free."
"Sure, Mr. Walter," Brandon replied happily. From Graham's tone, it seemed he would not oppose Brandon and Jolene being together.
Just then, Jenny suggested, "Dad, how about tomorrow? It just so happens that James will also be there. The more, the merrier."
She had to create opportunities for Brandon; otherwise, how could she get Jolene to marry him?
Graham thought it was inappropriate since he had already made an appointment with James.
However, Jenny shot James a look, who then said, ”1 have no objections, Mr.
Walter."
Brandon also chimed in, "I'm good with it too."
After they parted ways, Jenny was in a good mood. She had accomplished two things in one day and made some progress.
Graham wasn't a fool; he had already figured out what she was planning when she brought Brandon to dinner.
"So, you brought Brandon to dinner to set him up with Jolene?" Graham asked.
Nodding, Jenny didn't deny it. "She's not young anymore, so we should start thinking about her. I think Brandon isn't bad."
In Jenny's opinion, Brandon was better than Jolene in all aspects. However, she was aware there was a chance Graham thought otherwise. He might have thought she was out of his league in all aspects.
"He's not bad, but it still depends on what Jolene think,” Graham said.
Although he didn't like Jolene as much as Jenny, after all, she was his daughter, and he couldn't force her to marry someone she didn't like.
Jenny nodded and said, "They seem pretty close from their usual interactions.
Maybe Jolene has liked Brandon for a long time."
"It would be great if that's the case." Graham was also worried about Jolene, mainly because of her awful temper and personality, which made it difficult to find someone suitable for her.
Jenny wasn't worried. Since Jolene treated Brandon as a tool, she wouldn't be direct about it even if she didn't like him. All Jenny needed to do was tip the scale to make something happen.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 729-I Don't Have Enough Jenny stopped and sighed in exasperation. "Yes? Is it your turn to fight me now?"
Alicia stepped back as Jenny began cracking her fists. "I-I'm no match for you."
"Smart. Now leave me alone, or you won’t get a warning next time," Jenny snapped. This time, Alicia stayed behind while Jenny went to her car because she knew just how dangerous that threat was.
Jenny was about to drive home when someone approached her car door.
"Melissa? You're still here,' she exclaimed in surprise.
Melissa smiled awkwardly. 'I uh.Jt's not as easy getting a taxi out here in the country as it was in the city."
Translation: Would you mind giving me a ride back?
"Yeah. Taxis don't get their fair share of customers around these parts." Jenny opened the passenger seat door. "Get in then."
Melissa gladly went in, tossing Alicia into the back of her mind.
Jenny soon reached the freeway.
"Where to?" she asked Melissa, though there came no response. When Jenny turned to look, she spotted Melissa dozed off against the window.
Jenny bit back an amused laugh. Was this woman brave or just trusting enough? They'd just been fighting one another in that field back there, yet Melissa wasn't at all concerned if Jenny would hurt her.
Jenny shook her head and drove back to Walter Castle.
Half an hour later, Melissa woke up from her nap to find the car had stopped moving. "Hm? Are we there yet?” "Yup. Where are you headed? I'll drive you." The car was parked outside Walter Castle while Jenny waited for Melissa to wake up.
"Um, any motel will do," Melissa responded, to which Jenny cocked her head in confusion. "I don't have much on me, so simple will suffice," she explained.
Jenny was starting to wonder if all of Madam Olanna's disciples were this impoverished. "Do you have a job?"
Melissa mumbled, "It's not…consistent, so the pay isn't either."
"What kind of job is it?"
"Oh, you know, debt collection," she mumbled again in a voice so soft Jenny had to strain her ears.
Debt collection? "That's all you use your skills for?"
"It's not like I want to either, but everyone wants mental and logic skills nowadays, not physical ones. They wouldn't even hire me as a bodyguard."
Most people doubted her skills just because she was a woman.
The one time someone hired her to be such, it turned out to be a farce for her employer to take advantage of her. After a merciless beating by her, the man never sought her out again.
Jenny really didn't know what to say to that. Melissa seemed to be younger than her, and already she was struggling. 'Ah, never mind that for now.
Let's have dinner."
Her stomach had been yowling since that fight. All she wanted now was a good hot meal.
Melissa perked up at the mention of dinner. "Dinner? What're we having?"
"What are you in the mood for?" One look and Jenny could tell Melissa hadn't eaten either.
Melissa was about to reply when she suddenly remembered how little she had on her. Her shoulders slumped over instantly. "I…I don't have enough for a meal right now."
All she had on her right now would only suffice for her one-night stay at a motel, nothing else.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 730-0 Yeah, I Guess Jenny really didn't have the words. "You came to the city on Alicia's behalf?
Empty-handed?’ "I didn't plan to either, but when she called me and started crying about her brother, I figured, 'Hey, this might be a good chance to try out the city life,' plus, I couldn't just refuse to help her. Jonathan and I trained together," Melissa explained.
"You're not from the city?" Jenny asked in surprise.
"Yeah. I couldn't stand the small-town life anymore, so I decided, might as well come here." She had thought her chances of getting hired as a bodyguard would be higher in the city. That was one of the reasons she took on Alicia's request as well.
Jenny nodded in understanding.
"I'll buy you dinner then."
Melissa's eyes widened like saucer plates. "Really? You're not messing with me, are you?’ "Don't worry, I'm not." Jenny started the car and drove them to a nearby restaurant. She had plans for Melissa that she couldn't risk Rowena knowing, so she couldn't bring Melissa home for their meal.
They sat at a table inside the restaurant, where Jenny then gave Melissa the menu. 'Order whatever you like."
Melissa was salivating as she flipped through the menu. The food all looked so good.
"You're really paying for dinner, right?" she asked again, worried Jenny might leave after their meal without paying and throw Melissa under the bus.
"Really. You don't have to worry, Melissa. What can I benefit from you when you have nothing to your name?’ Jenny shrugged. Where was the lack of awareness earlier in the car? She thought to herself.
Melissa nodded and then ordered several dishes unabashedly. She hadn't told Jenny how it had been days since she had a proper meal. In fact, she only had cup noodles for lunch.
Gosh, what happened to her? It hadn't always been like this.
Still, the truth of the matter was the only skill she had that could land her a career was martial arts and combat. It's not like she had a college degree. Yet she couldn't even land a proper job as a guard.
The waiter soon served them dinner. Melissa instantly picked up her fork and knife, smacking her lips. "Let's eat!’ Jenny smiled and joined her. The two women quickly finished everything, though in truth, Melissa ate most of it. Her appetite was drastically bigger than Jenny’s.
"Oh, that was amazing." Melissa sighed afterward, muffling a burp.
Jenny set down her silverware and propped her chin on her knuckles." Good.
Let's get down to business then."
Melissa instantly stiffened up, suddenly feeling like Jenny might eat her alive.
"You're not going back on your word, are you? You promised to pay for dinner."
Jenny shook her head. ’No, no, this isn't about that."
"Oh, good then." Melissa relaxed again. Anything was fine save for paying out of pocket. She really didn't have much to spare right now.
"What are your plans for the future? Do you intend to keep on drifting about like this?’ Jenny asked.
Melissa gave those questions some serious thought before finally saying," Yeah, I guess."
