Ch. 681..690
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 681-That Day Will Never Come Brandon wasn't angry upon being rejected by Jenny. He now felt it would be better to marry a woman like her than Jolene. When he first saw the news about Jolene and James, he was indeed quite angry, but that anger was quickly replaced by relief, for he was glad he no longer had to marry that foolish woman.
"Miss Walter, you don't have to refuse me so quickly. What if you fall in love with me one day?" Brandon smiled, thinking that matters of the heart were volatile and unpredictable.
He believed it was easy to win over women-he just needed to romance and treat them well, and they would fall for him.
A corner of Jenny's mouth twitched. She couldn't understand how Brandon was so confident in himself. "Mr. Britt, rest assured. That day will never come."
The moment she said it, Brandon's face fell immediately. Jenny didn't mince her words; she went straight for the kill and humiliated him.
Just as he was about to speak again, Jenny interrupted him bluntly, "Mr. Britt, the banquet is about to begin. I still have things to do, so please excuse me."
Jenny left right away, dragging Stephanie along. She wasn't interested in continuing her conversation with Brandon as she could tell his thoughts. That was precisely the reason she felt disgusted with him.
Someone like him wouldn't understand what it meant to really like someone.
Everything he did was based on self-interest. While most people wouldn't think he was wrong, Jenny didn't hold the same opinion. She was repulsed by people like him.
She led Stephanie to another corner. Upon seeing that Brandon didn't follow them, she breathed a sigh of relief.
"You're so popular now, Jenny." Stephanie stifled a laugh with her hand over her mouth, clearly enjoying Jenny’s misfortune.
Jenny glared at her and said in annoyance, "If you laugh at me again, I'll make them come and bug you. Would you like that?"
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have laughed at you." Stephanie knew very well she couldn't handle those people.
In the meantime, on the stage not far away, representatives from both the Walter and Windsor families were giving speeches, saying nothing more than polite remarks. Jenny didn't even need to listen to know what they were saying.
She couldn't help but look at James and thought helplessly, "What are you doing, James? Do you really want to marry her for the sake of your family?"
Fortunately, it was only an engagement for now and not an official marriage yet.
Jenny could only pray that James had other plans.
On the stage, Jolene unexpectedly took the microphone. Jenny frowned, not knowing what she was going to say.
"Thank you all for attending our engagement banquet. It may have been surprising for some of you, but not for me. I've liked James for many years, so I'm very happy and blessed that we're now engaged. James, I don't know how you feel about me now, but I want to let you know that I love you. I will love you for the rest of my life, and I hope you can try to accept me. I believe we can be happy together."
After her short speech, the audience applauded because they thought she sounded quite sincere. However, James remained expressionless, and a hint of contempt could be seen on his face. Jolene didn't care and turned her gaze to Jenny, who was hiding in the corner.
"Jenny, I'll leave the family to you from now on. I believe you can handle it well since Father always says you're smarter than me."
Jenny groaned internally, "Why are you bringing me into this now? I don't believe your words one bit."
Jolene then thanked her parents and finished her speech.
She made it seem like she was getting married, but it was just an engagement.
The wedding date was still not confirmed, so her marriage to James wasn't set in stone yet. Jolene left herself no room to back down by saying all that.
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 682-What Do You Want?
More importantly, the Britts were also present. By saying she'd always liked James, Jolene basically admitted to making a fool out of the Britts when she previously agreed to the engagement with Brandon.
Many people surreptitiously stole glances at the Britts in the hall to see their expressions. As expected, they clearly weren't thrilled.
Brandon didn't exactly like Jolene, but at that moment, everyone looked at him with a sympathetic expression as if they were sorry that he'd been fooled.
He'd initially decided not to pursue the matter, but if he left it at that, everyone would think he was too afraid of the Walters to retaliate. Wanting to uphold his dignity, he raised his glass and walked toward Jolene.
At that moment, Jolene was busy socializing and receiving well wishes. Tonight was easily the most glorious day in her whole life. Regardless of what others said, she was basically half a Windsor now, and she'd successfully elevated herself to a higher status. Even if those people were secretly envious of her, they could only put on a fake smile and congratulate her.
"You're quite good at scheming, Miss Walter," Brandon said. That was the first time the two met and talked after the incident with James happened.
Jolene didn't dare to face Brandon and had been avoiding him. At the same time, Brandon didn't look for her either. Now, on this occasion, she couldn't hide from him even if she wanted to. They were bound to see each other there one way or another.
As Jolene's gaze landed on Brandon, she inexplicably felt a little frightened. "Mr.
Britt, I'm sorry about what happened before. You know, at that time, I was forced by my father."
"Oh? So, everything you said to me was a lie, was it?" Brandon sneered. He remembered clearly that Jolene had told him she liked him before but didn't want to settle down so quickly. Now, she was saying that she'd been forced by Graham instead. She was capable of nothing but lies; none of the words that she'd said held any truth.
Jolene forced a smile. Only they knew what had happened between them.
Fortunately, she didn't leave any evidence. Therefore, she just needed to deny she'd ever said that she liked him.
"Mr. Britt, we know you like Jo, but she doesn't like you. Isn't it pointless for you to continue pestering her?" Jolene's friend spoke up. Previously, they'd thought Brandon was not a bad choice. But now that Jolene had James, Brandon was way inferior as a suitor.
"That's right, Mr. Britt. If you really like Jo, you should wish her well," another friend of Jolene’s added.
Brandon looked at them, then at Jolene, who remained silent. He snorted and said nothing; he just turned around and left.
Seeing him leave, Jolene breathed a sigh of relief. "Thank you for speaking up for me."
"Jo, you're too nice. It was obviously Brandon who'd been pestering you. Why did you even speak to him so politely?" One of her friends was particularly angry. If one didn't know better, one would have thought that Brandon had offended her somehow.
Jolene smiled and didn't say anything.
After having a few drinks with her acquaintances, she went to the washroom.
She'd had quite a lot to drink that night. She stood in front of the mirror in the bathroom and adjusted her dress. It was her big day, and she wanted to make sure every inch of her was perfect.
Suddenly, a figure appeared behind her and hugged her tightly.
"Ah!"
Jolene screamed instinctively, but the person covered her mouth with his hand.
"What are you screaming for? Do you want everyone to come and have a look?"
Hearing that, Jolene closed her mouth and dared not make any noise.
"What do you want, Brandon?" Jolene gritted her teeth and turned around to glare at him. With a chuckle, Brandon roamed his hands all over her waist, showing no intention of letting go.
Jolene's face was flushed red with anger. "Let me go!"
"There's no need to be so upset. It's not like I haven't touched you before."
When he believed that Jolene would eventually marry him, he was respectful toward her. Since that was no longer the case, he didn’t need to treat her politely.
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 683-You Whore "What nonsense are you spouting? Nothing ever happened between us! If you dare say anything slanderous again, I'll make you pay for it!" She pushed him away forcefully, looking at him warily.
"What did he mean by "It's not like I haven't touched you before"? If outsiders hear this, they might think something happened between us," Jolene thought in panic. But in fact, nothing ever happened between them. Jolene didn't want to be wrongly accused of something that never happened.
Brandon laughed, not mad at her response at all. "So, you treated my feelings for you so carelessly because nothing really happened between us. Is that what you mean? Jolene, you strung me along and dumped me just like that. What do you take me for?"
Although he had ulterior motives when he approached Jolene, the fact that she tricked him was undeniable. He might be taken as a pushover if he didn’t fight back.
Jolene felt a little guilty and tried to justify herself. "I didn't trick you on purpose. I kind of liked you before, but then I met James and realized what love is. You can't blame me for that."
"Do you still take me as a fool?" Brandon stared at her, thinking she was a cheap slut compared to Jenny.
"I didn't mean that-"
"Really? Would you want to marry James if it weren’t for the Windsors being superior to my family? Don't pretend to be driven by love when you're just after the money and status."' Brandon wasn't a fool. He could see through her intentions.
Having been called out, Jolene found no point in denying it anymore." You're right. If I wasn't a Walter, would you want to marry me? In the end, we're the same. Don’t act as if you're more honorable than me." She bit the bullet and talked back to Brandon. She wasn't fearful, as she was already engaged to James.
Brandon suddenly hugged her tightly and got closer to her. "I've done so much for you, yet you threw yourself into someone else's arms so easily. Aren't you being too heartless?"
"W-what are you doing?" Jolene was getting nervous.
"What do you think?" Brandon sneered, reaching out to yank at Jolene's clothes.
Now, Jolene was really frightened by his behavior. She quickly apologized,"
Brandon, I was wrong. I'm sorry. Can you…can you please let me go?"
She had already gotten engaged to James. If something happened between her and Brandon, and the Windsors found out, she'd be done for.
As she begged for mercy, Brandon's laugh grew boisterous. "Do you feel scared now? Why weren't you scared when you took me for a fool?"
The more he thought about it, the more he felt like he was made to suffer unjustly. If he didn’t have his way with Jolene now, he would never be able to make up for all the humiliation he suffered at her hands.
"Brandon, don't do this…"
"Shut up, you whore! Even if I have sex with you here today, you won't dare to tell anyone!" Brandon was infuriated that Jolene made it seem like she was the one who suffered the most injustice.
Jolene bit her lip and trembled all over. She didn't expect Brandon would come onto her like this. To make things worse, she couldn't scream for help now. With the two of them all tangled up in the washroom, no one would believe she was innocent.
Was Brandon really going to have his way with her here?
Seeing that she didn't resist anymore, Brandon was delighted. "That's right, don't worry, I won't tell anyone about this. When you become a Windsor, we might even have more opportunities to collaborate."
Right then, Brandon thought it was not a bad idea at all. If he made Jolene his woman and let her marry James while using her for his own purposes, he could gain firsthand information about the Windsors.
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 684-As Long as You Behave Just as he felt extremely proud of himself, someone suddenly patted him on the shoulder, startling him greatly. When he turned around and saw that it was Jenny, he was even more shocked.
"Since when have you been here?" he asked.
"A while ago," Jenny replied.
"This has nothing to do with you, so go away," Brandon said, holding onto Jolene with no intention of letting her go, even in Jenny's presence.
Jenny glanced at the two of them, and Jolene hung her head, feeling ashamed.
"Brandon, Jolene is my sister. Do you think I'll leave?" She didn't consider Jolene her sister, but she couldn't let Brandon have his way. If Jolene was under his control, the Windsors would be in danger.
Brandon frowned. "When did you ever consider her your sister?"
"That's none of your business. Let her go, and I'll pretend nothing happened.
Otherwise, don't blame me for not holding back." Jenny was confident about dealing with him.
Brandon was a little confused about Jenny’s intentions, so he was speechless at her interference. "You hate her so much. Now, I'm destroying her for you.
Shouldn't you be happy?"
"Why do you assume that you understand me so well?" If she hadn't seen what was happening, she could have ignored it; but since she happened to come across Brandon's attempt at such a vile act, she couldn't let him do whatever he wanted. Although she hated Jolene, she couldn't bear to see her being defiled by a beast.
"If I don't let her go today, are you going to keep giving me trouble?" If he let Jolene go, it would be ages before another opportunity like it came by again.
Jenny nodded fearlessly. "With me here, you won't get your way."
Brandon was infuriated by her words, so he let go of Jolene and rushed toward Jenny instead. "You Walters are a bunch of thugs! Since you're so intent on opposing me, neither of you can escape today!"
He decided to deal with Jenny first. Without her interference, he could easily have his way with Jolene. However, he obviously didn't know Jenny at all.
Before he could come close to touching her, he was kicked so hard that it sent him flying back. Jenny walked over and looked down at him from above. "Why did you have to provoke me? Did you have a good taste of the pain?"
She didn't hold back at all; Brandon would feel the pain for at least three months from that kick.
"J-Jenny!" Brandon hated her to his core, but because of the pain in his stomach, he couldn't even speak clearly.
Faced with his hatred, Jenny shrugged indifferently and walked up to Jolene.
"What are you still standing there for? Hurry up and leave.” "0-oh." Jolene snapped out of it and followed Jenny out of the restroom.
After they left, Jolene realized belatedly that Jenny had just saved her.
Looking at the person walking ahead, Jolene's emotions were complicated, but she didn't feel much gratitude. "Don't expect any thanks for saving me."
"Whatever." Jenny didn't care. She wasn't counting on Jolene's gratitude in the first place. She intervened just to prevent Brandon's plan from succeeding. Based on Jolene's character, if Brandon had his way with her, she would likely be controlled by him.
"You won't tell anyone about what happened just now, will you?" Jolene was a little worried. If Jenny really did tell others, it would impact her negatively.
Jenny stopped and turned back to look at her. "Don't worry. As long as you behave and don't provoke me, I won’t say anything."
"Hmph! I bet you wouldn't dare. If you did, the Walters would also lose face. "
Jolene wasn't a complete idiot.
Jenny glanced at her and didn't bother to continue the conversation. It was a waste of time.
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 685-You Dislike Jolene?
The dinner was still ongoing, and the marriage alliance between the Walters and the Windsors meant different things to different people. After all, if these two families joined forces, it was unlikely that anyone would dare to mess with them.
Some people didn't think the two families would be on good terms, however, as everyone knew what was going on. At this point, it would be good enough that the Windsors did not hate the Walters.
Of course, some others thought things would be different after the marriage-the two families would likely come together for their own interests.
Jenny didn't know what everyone had to say about the matter, nor did she care.
She didn't know what would happen in the future, but for now, the two families were still working together, although most people didn't know about it.
Jenny intended to go find Stephanie, but she saw someone chatting with her from a distance. Seeing that it was a handsome guy, she didn't go over. If Stephanie could get into a new relationship, she would naturally be happy for her friend. She did notice, though, that Stephanie didn't appear particularly eager to chat with that guy, so she probably wasn't interested in him.
Looking around the hall and taking in everyone's smiling faces, Jenny sighed.
Perhaps the only one who wasn't happy at the moment was James.
Her eyes unknowingly drifted over to James, but she saw him smiling, apparently in quite a good mood. He was probably discussing business opportunities with someone, and it seemed to be going well, as he seemed much happier than earlier.
Jenny withdrew her gaze, thinking she'd perhaps underestimated James too much. At the end of the day, he didn't care much about his own happiness but more about the interests of the Windsors.
Looking around again, she saw Alec and then Blake, who was holding his arm.
By appearing together like this, they were basically making their relationship official and announcing it to everyone. Jenny didn't know what others thought, but she was of the opinion that they were a good match. Because of Blake, Alec was also the center of attention that night, and the banquet should pose an excellent opportunity for him.
Just as she wondered whether other Fausts attended the banquet, someone walked up to her.
"Miss Walter."
Jenny turned and saw the person who had asked for a ride at the door of the Faust family residence the other day.
"Mr. Faust.” "You can call me Julian. There's no need to be so formal."
Julian smiled. Even though he was in his early twenties, he had a scheming look in his eyes.
Jenny found a place to sit down, and Julian followed.
"Can I call you Jen?"
"Upto you."
Jenny didn't refuse and was actually quite curious about his intentions.
"Hey, Jen." Julian addressed her sweetly. If it weren't for the scheming look in his eyes, Jenny would really be attracted to him. After all, who could resist a handsome young guy?
Not saying anything, Jenny waited for him to speak. Feeling Jenny's gaze on him, Julian inexplicably became a little nervous. He felt as if she had clearly seen through his ulterior motives. He cleared his throat in an attempt to relieve the awkwardness.
"Jen, today is a good day for the Walters, but you don't seem too happy."
"Naturally, after all, who would be happy to see someone they don't like succeed?" Jenny held her forehead, looking distressed.
Julian was curious. “You seem to dislike Jolene."
"Yes." Jenny nodded. It was a well-known fact, so there was nothing to hide.
She was just curious to see what Julian was up to.
When Julian heard that, he laughed. "How about I help you teach her a lesson?
I also find her quite annoying."
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 686-Is It Strange?
After he said those words, Jenny's expression changed slightly as she looked at him and asked, "Did she offend you somehow?" "Not really. I just don't like that kind of woman." Jolene's success in her scheme indirectly encouraged other women who intended to make a move behind the scenes to take a leaf out of her book. Julian would have to watch every drink he had from then onward. Countless women would try to carry out their plans at any cost, not caring about the consequences.
"If you want to teach her a lesson, that's your business. Don't drag me into it."
Jenny didn't want to be implicated later on if Julian did something and blamed it on her for teaching him. She wouldn't be able to explain herself to either the Fausts or Graham.
Hearing her response, Julian felt aggrieved. "Jen, I just wanted to help you express your anger."
"Come on. Don't pretend to be innocent in front of me, Mr. Faust. Just tell me what's your purpose in approaching me.” She was tired of playing along with him, so she decided to call a spade a spade.
Julian's expression changed abruptly, but he quickly recovered and said," What purpose would I have? I just want to be friends with you."
"With your status, there's really no need for you to be friends with me." Jenny laughed humorlessly. Brandon had just said he also wanted to be friends with her earlier. Even a fool would find it hard to believe. Seeing how Julian refused to speak, she felt a little helpless and asked, "You're here about Alec, right? Do you want to find out more about him from me?"
Julian didn't deny it. Any pretense was futile and unnecessary in front of someone as intelligent as Jenny.
"You could have sent someone to Parrington to find out everything about him and me. Why waste your energy here today?" Jenny didn't think it was necessary.
Julian disagreed. He looked at Alec and Blake, who were not far away and sneered, "Of course I've sent someone to investigate, but it's precisely because I looked into it that I find him very strange. He was clearly so fond of you before, but as soon as he returned to the Faust family, he was eager to distance himself from you. Isn't that strange?"
Jenny felt a pang in her heart, but she concealed it well and asked, "Is it strange? I think it's normal. He liked me because he knew I was a Walter. But when he found out that he was related to the Faust of Bardoff City and had the opportunity to return to the family, a Walter like me was not that attractive to him anymore. As you can see, he's with the young lady of the Watkins family now.
Compared to her, I'm clearly inferior."
In terms of power alone, the Walters weren't comparable to the Watkins.
Although it sounded somewhat reasonable, Julian still had some doubts." Do you think he's that kind of person?"
Based on the information he'd found, Alec was evidently not heartless.
Either the information he'd dug up was too superficial, or Alec was pretendingJulian leaned more toward the latter. He believed that Alec didn't want Jenny to get involved with his affairs to protect her; he loved Jenny but kept it to himself.
Jenny couldn't read Julian's mind. If she could, she would probably give him a high five because she had thought the same before. But after talking to Alec, she no longer thought so-he really didn't like her. It had nothing to do with protecting her.
"I'm curious, Mr. Faust. Many other Fausts returned this time. Out of all of them, why did you choose to pay attention to Alec? Could it be that you really think he can take the Faust family away from you? Are you that lacking in confidence?"
She was genuinely curious, so she casually asked Julian about it. By doing this, she might be able to get an answer to issues she'd been wondering about.
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 687-Becoming the Heir The question seemed to weigh heavily on Julian. Jenny stared at him in silence for a while before he slowly spoke up, "That's not exactly the case."
Then, he continued, ’ Although Grandpa has summoned many members of the Faust family back from everywhere, the biggest threat among them is Alec. After all, someone could easily obtain information about his abilities the moment they looked into it. Grandpa has praised him immensely. He has just returned to the Faust family but has secured himself a position in Faust Group. No one else was given this much recognition."
Julian himself had only recently joined the company. On the other hand, Alec had only been back for a short time, but he'd become a part of Faust Group. It was obvious that Zeke valued Alec a lot, naturally making the rest of them nervous.
As an outsider, Jenny could see through Zeke's intentions at a glance. He purposely directed the attention of his sons and grandsons toward Alec, as he believed that Alec would be a good challenge to make them grow and improve.
Zeke was ruthless; he didn't consider whether Alec could handle the onslaught.
"Even so, Alec shouldn't pose such a big threat to you guys." After all, Julian and the others were the ones who held actual power within the Fausts, which was completely different from Alec's situation.
Zeke seemed to hold high expectations for Alec by allowing him to join Faust Group. However, Jenny wasn't sure if Alec had any real power in the family. It was possible that he might not even be able to order the staff around.
Julian nodded and whispered beside Jenny, "Actually, I don't really care about it.
It's mainly because my cousin, Luke, seems very wary of Alec.
That's why I started to become concerned too. After all, Luke's much smarter than me."
Luke, the Faust family's eldest grandson, had the best chance of inheriting the family. Most importantly, he was Xavier's son.
"However, now I think Luke might be right. Look, it's only been a few days, and he has already struck up a connection with the Watkins. That's enough to show how capable he is." Julian's face turned grim.
Jenny reached out and patted his head. "You're young, but you try to look mature beyond your years. How unattractive."
"How dare you pat me." Julian touched his head, furious.
"What's wrong with that? You're just a kid." Jenny rolled her eyes at him. Julian was just an immature child who hadn't fully grown up, despite his efforts to appear sophisticated and mature.
"You…just wait. I'm going to tell my sister on you," Julian said, getting up as if to report the incident to his sister.
Jenny looked at him with a faint smile, not the least bit flustered.
The way she looked at Julian made him feel a little embarrassed. "Forget it. I can't be bothered to deal with you."
"Are you interested in inheriting the family business?" Jenny asked suddenly.
Julian shook his head. "No, I like painting. My dream is to become an artist. If "Then why bother competing with them? Just be yourself and do what you want." Jenny looked into his eyes, speaking from her heart.
She wouldn't be bothered to take over the Walter family if any other Walter could inherit it. However, it was fine for her. Even if she eventually inherited the Walter family business, she didn't need to watch over it every day. She could still do what she liked, but she had to endure it for now.
Jenny's words made Julian fall silent, and he sat beside her. "It's not that easy.
Being born as a Faust means we're destined to compete with each other. If I don't fight for my place and Uncle Xavier ends up inheriting everything in the end, my family and I will suffer miserably."
Julian wasn't foolish. If he wanted to survive in the Faust family, he had to compete. He had understood it since he was born.
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 688-You Want Me to Support Him?
Listening to what Julian said, Jenny thought about the oppressive atmosphere in the Faust family. It was no wonder Julian would have such thoughts.
She pondered for a moment, then smiled and said, "Since you're not interested in inheriting the Faust family and your only goal is to prevent Xavier from inheriting everything, why not consider supporting Alec? If he inherits the Faust family business and assets, it won't affect you, right?"
Julian looked at her in shock. He blinked a few times, unable to believe what he'd just heard. "You want me to support him?"
Jenny nodded.
"Have you really divorced Alec? It sure doesn't seem like it." Julian looked at Jenny suspiciously. If they were divorced, Jenny shouldn't be helping Alec.
Jenny was speechless and rolled her eyes at him. "What's wrong with my suggestion? You're not interested in inheriting the Faust family anyway."
"Although I'm not interested, that doesn't mean my dad or sister isn't. If they find out that I intend to support Alec, they'll kill me," Julian said, knowing full well not everyone in his family thought the same as him.
The Fausts were such an affluent family. Who wouldn't be tempted by the riches and power that came with it? Even if Julian was naive, he knew it would be best for him if his father or sister inherited the family.
Realizing that she couldn't persuade Julian to help Alec, Jenny felt it was a little regrettable. She thought Julian looked naive and easy to sway, but he wasn't a total airhead.
Following that, Jenny fell silent and didn't utter another word.
"Seriously? You're not going to talk to me anymore just because I won't help Alec?" Julian asked upon noticing her dismissive look that she made no attempt to hide.
Jenny raised her head to look at him. "Alec and I aren't related in any way. The proposal just now was out of consideration for you. Since you've made up your mind on what to do, I naturally have nothing more to say."
"Out of consideration for me?" Julian thought very skeptically. They weren't exactly on such close terms yet.
Just as he was about to say something to Jenny, Isabelle Faust walked toward them. "What are you talking about with Miss Walter, Julian?"
"Isabelle," Julian greeted as he stood up. He showed his sister much respect.
"We didn't talk about much. It was just a few casual exchanges."
Isabelle nodded and looked at Jenny while extending her hand. "Hello, Miss Walter. I'm Isabelle Faust."
"Hello." Jenny stood up and shook her hand.
Although Jenny didn't want to have too much contact with the Faust family, Isabelle was nothing but courteous. As such, Jenny couldn't just ignore her.
Isabelle smiled and withdrew her hand. She said, a little apologetically," Please excuse Julian; he's basically still a child. Please don't take it to heart if he said anything to offend you."
"Isabelle, I’m not a child-"
"Be quiet. I'm talking to Miss Walter. Don't disrupt our conversation," Isabelle cut him off right away, not giving him a chance to speak.
Julian pouted, looking pitifully at Jenny, hoping she would speak up for him.
Jenny caught his gaze and couldn't help but smile. "Miss Faust, you're worrying too much. Julian is not that clueless."
"That's good, then." Isabelle nodded. I'll take him over to meet a few people first.
I'll treat you to a meal another day. I hope you won't deny me the pleasure by that time."
"No problem," Jenny replied.
Since Isabelle intentionally tried to be friendly, Jenny wouldn't refuse her. It was always better to have more friends than enemies.
Julian didn’t want to go, as he had no interest in inheriting the family business and naturally had no interest in socializing. However, Isabelle didn't give him a chance to refuse. She dragged him away swiftly, and they disappeared from Jenny's sight.
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 689-Get Lost Stephanie was drinking champagne. Because of Paul's reappearance, she felt a little unenthusiastic about everything that day. However, she didn't refuse when someone approached her for a conversation. After all, she couldn't afford to offend anyone who attended the banquet, so she drank the wine the other party offered. But soon, she realized that something was wrong with it. She had only taken a few sips and already felt a bit unstable on her feet.
"Miss, are you drunk? Let me take you upstairs to rest." A young man from one of the rich families approached and held Stephanie by her arm, leading her out of the banquet hall.
Stephanie was feeling groggy at that moment, and she didn't even know who the person next to her was.
"No…l don't want to go…” she murmured softly, but the young man didn't care.
He came to the banquet today to find prey and had been eyeing Stephanie for a long time. She was beautiful and didn't come from one of the prominent families, which made her the perfect target.
After talking to Isabelle and Julian, Jenny intended to leave the banquet with Stephanie, as this event had nothing to do with her. However, she didn’t see Stephanie anywhere after looking all over the banquet hall.
Feeling puzzled, she tried calling Stephanie. Her phone rang for a long time, but nobody answered the call. Jenny started to worry.
Could something have happened to her?
Praying that Stephanie was safe, Jenny looked everywhere for her friend in the hall. Despite her efforts, Stephanie was nowhere to be found. At first, Jenny didn't think much of it, but now she was seriously concerned. If anything happened to Stephanie, she wouldn't be able to forgive herself. With that thought in mind, Jenny didn't hesitate and went directly to the hotel's surveillance room.
Upstairs, the young man supported Stephanie and led her into a room. Then, he threw her onto the big bed. He looked at Stephanie's shapely figure and licked his lips.
"What a beautiful woman." He was getting impatient and started taking off his clothes quickly, as he couldn't wait to get a taste of such a gorgeous woman.
However, someone kicked the room door open before he could take off anything else.
"Who the hell are you? How dare you interrupt me from having a good time! "
Seeing someone entering, the young man frowned and looked displeased.
Paul saw the man, who was topless by then, and then Stephanie, lying on the bed. His expression turned livid. "Get lost!"
"Who do you think you are telling to get lost?" The young man started to take out his phone to call for help. He didn't recognize Paul and naturally didn't think he was anyone important.
However, before he could make the call, Paul gave him a hard kick, sending him flying.
Paul didn't hold back at all. With one kick, the young man passed out right away.
Paul walked to the bedside and saw that Stephanie was still unconscious. He felt angry and distressed at the same time.
"Aren't you supposed to be capable? How did you get drugged so easily? If you don't want anything to do with me, then protect yourself, and don't give me a chance." Paul mumbled to himself, but his gaze lingered on Stephanie's face, reluctant to look away.
Not long after that, Jenny arrived with people in tow.
She noticed Stephanie being drugged and taken away through the surveillance footage. She rushed over as fast as she could. However, she didn't expect to find Paul in the room as well.
Seeing the shirtless young man unconscious in the corner, she could roughly guess what had happened. For the first time, she felt grateful that Paul had arrived in time.
"Thank you," Jenny said. No matter what, she had to thank him for saving Stephanie this time.
Upon hearing Jenny's voice, Paul turned to stare at her with a dangerous expression. "Who do you think you are to thank me for saving her?"

"I am her best friend, so I should have the right to thank you on her behalf. After all, you and Steph are not that close," Jenny said as she walked forward and lifted Stephanie from the bed.
For someone who had practiced martial arts, lifting Stephanie was not a big problem for Jenny. It even seemed quite easy for her.
Her words were like a slap to Paul's face, and his face fell drastically. "If you really are her best friend, you should protect her instead of letting her end up in this situation,” he countered.
Jenny fell silent. She realized that she had been careless today. On top of that, she didn't expect someone to use such despicable means at a banquet held by the Walters.
Her gaze swept over the unconscious young man as she said coldly, "I'll seek justice for Steph in this matter for sure, so you don't need to worry, Mr. Wagner."
After saying that, Jenny carried Stephanie away, not caring how Paul felt about her words.
Long after Jenny and Stephanie had left, Paul stood in the room and didn't leave. He had a dark expression on his face, and it seemed like his anger had not yet subsided.
The next moment, he turned his gaze toward the unconscious young man in the corner. Without hesitation, he walked over and kicked the guy a few times to vent some of his anger.
Jenny didn't take Stephanie too far. She booked a room in the hotel for her to rest.
After she had settled everything, Jenny finally had time to call Graham and briefly explain the situation. Her tone was icy as she said, "If this matter gets out, you should know very well the impact it will have on our family."
"I know what you mean. Don't worry, I will handle it," Graham replied, his tone quite frigid. He was definitely burning with anger at the moment.
He couldn't believe someone had the audacity to cause trouble on such an occasion; it could only mean they didn't take the Walters seriously. Upon investigation, the young man was from a wealthy but inferior family. To do such a thing right under the Walters' noses, he clearly didn't know his place.
Jenny didn't ask Graham how he planned to handle it, but she was sure that the young man probably wouldn't have a chance to show up in Bardoff City again.
Looking at Stephanie, who had already fallen asleep, Jenny felt somewhat worried. She took out her phone and called the hotel staff, asking them to send over a doctor.
Soon, the doctor arrived, but he was not alone, as Alec was with him.
Jenny was puzzled. "What are you doing here?"
"What happened? Why did you call a doctor?" Panic could be heard in the tone of his voice, even if he wasn't aware of it.
But Jenny noticed it, and she felt that it was suspicious. Alec's behavior was contrary to what he had told her previously. Jenny wondered if he perhaps suffered from a split personality disorder.
Ignoring Alec, Jenny led the doctor inside and had him examine Stephanie. After confirming that she was just unconscious and would wake up soon, she let the doctor leave, feeling relieved.
"Mr. Faust, as you can see, I’m fine. It was my friend who needed medical attention," Jenny stated, staring intently at Alec.
Alec saw Stephanie, but unfortunately, he didn't recognize her due to his amnesia. Even if he had investigated his and Jenny's past, he wouldn't be able to find out who Jenny’s friends were.
He nodded indifferently. "It's good that you're okay."
"No, I'm not good. Not good at all." Jenny looked at him solemnly. "Steph is my friend. If she's in trouble, it means I'm in trouble. I don't feel good about this whole thing at the moment."
"Oh, you guys are that close?" Alec felt skeptical that friends could be this close to each other.
He remembered that he had a friend, Paul. Nonetheless, due to his amnesia, he didn't feel much of a connection with Paul when he saw him. The feeling of having a deep kinship with Paul was practically nonexistent.
Hearing this, Jenny looked at Alec with an increasingly bewildered expression.
"Our relationship has always been good. It's not like you just found out about it today."
She kept staring at Alec, not missing his slightly dazed expression.
"Something's not right! Something is definitely not right!" Jenny exclaimed in her heart.
