To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 641-Must I Give You a Reason for Not Liking You?

With that, Jenny turned around to leave. Brandon watched her retreating figure in silence. He couldn't help but wonder who would lead the Walters in the future.

Previously, he firmly believed it was Jolene, but the more he thought about it, the more he felt she lacked the ability. It was Jenny who had what it took.

He sighed and gave up. Even if Jenny was the one, he couldn't marry her. That woman was much harder to deal with than Jolene.

Footsteps from the living room entrance interrupted his thoughts. James thought it was Jenny returning, but when he looked up, he saw Jolene instead. His smile disappeared, replaced with a blank expression.

Jolene walked over and sat next to him, blinking at him. "James," she said, hoping to appear cute.

However, James wasn't a good person. He only pretended to be kind and gentle in front of Jenny. If it were someone else, he wouldn’t bother dealing with them.

Seeing that James ignored her, Jolene wasn't discouraged and continued,"

James, you don't really think that Jenny is the Walters' missing daughter, do you?"

James frowned, "What do you mean?"

"I am my mom's only daughter," Jolene replied. Although she didn't say it explicitly, the meaning was clear.

James sneered, "You're trying to say that Jenny is an illegitimate child?"

"Yes, she is," Jolene confirmed. She thought James must have been fooled by Jenny, thinking she was the real eldest daughter of the Walters and therefore liked her. But Jenny wasn't; Jolene was.

"So what? What does that have to do with me?" James didn't care whether Jenny was an illegitimate child or not. What he cared about was Graham's attitude toward Jenny. At least for now, Graham cared more about her. As for Jolene, Graham probably didn't have much expectation for her, so he didn't bother raising her.

"James, she's an illegitimate child. She's not worth your affection," Jolene said, her face turning red. "I like you, James. Can't you give me a chance?"

James was annoyed as he looked at Jolene, but she didn't notice. When she saw him glance over, she blushed and grew shyer. James was about to leave when Jenny returned, and he felt relieved.

"Jenny," he called out to her.

Jenny didn't find it strange to see Jolene there and teased James by saying, "I didn't know you were so popular."

James stood up and distanced himself from Jolene, saying, "Just because a person likes doesn't mean I'm flattered." 1 Jolene was stunned by his words. She asked, "What's wrong with me? Why do you prefer a divorcee? Why won't you give me a chance?"

Before Jenny came into her life, she was always the center of attention. No one had treated her badly. However, everything changed the moment Jenny arrived.

James looked at her coldly and replied, "Must I give you a reason for not liking you?"

He didn't understand why she kept bothering him.

For Jenny's sake, he didn't want to cause any misunderstandings, so he kept his distance from Jolene. However, Jolene was Jenny's sister, so he couldn't speak too harshly. He still wanted to marry Jenny and didn't want to make Graham unhappy.

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 642-You Set Me Up!

Just as Jolene was overwhelmed, Graham came down from upstairs, glancing coldly at her before quickly looking away. Having been called down by Graham, Rowena was right behind him. She was a bit puzzled, wondering why Graham would call her at this hour.

"James, it's late. I'll have the driver take you back,” Graham said, not wanting outsiders to be involved in his family's affairs.

"Alright. I'll return home and visit another day," James said.

Graham nodded, looking more favorably at James now, convinced that excellent people attracted other excellent people. Jenny was so outstanding that she drew James in, who was equally as outstanding.

Jolene, however…

He had previously thought that Brandon was decent, but after seeing the two of them in the garden, he was a little displeased with him.

After James left, Graham called everyone to the living room.

"Brandon, do you really want to marry Jolene?" Graham didn't beat around the bush and went straight to the point.

He had a feeling that something unexpected might happen if he waited too long to marry Jolene off.

Brandon nodded sincerely. "Yes, I really like Jolene and hope you will let me take care of her for the rest of her life."

Graham nodded, looking satisfied since Brandon didn't hesitate.

Jolene didn't know why her father was bringing it up again, making her uneasy.

"Dad, didn't we say we'd talk about this in a few years since I'm still young?"

"You're not that young. It's time for you to get married," Graham said.

"Dad!" Jolene cried, feeling angry.

Graham stopped what she was about to say with a wave of his hand. "Let's do this. You two can get engaged first, and the marriage can take its time. It won't be rushed."

Jolene's face turned pale. Wasn't an engagement equivalent to marrying Brandon? Who would want a woman who was engaged to someone else?

"Dad, I don't want to do it so soon," Jolene refused.

Seeing that Graham was about to get angry, Rowena quickly pulled him aside.

"It's the 21 st century now. You can't just make decisions for Jolene without her input."

"How am I deciding for her? She likes Brandon," Graham rebutted, upset. Since they both liked each other, they should just get married. Graham wondered why they were making things so complicated.

Rowena frowned. "How do you know she likes him?"

"Jolene and Mr. Britt were hugging in the garden just now," Jenny said." Dad and I both saw it with our own eyes. What else can it mean? If she doesn't like him, why would they hug each other? Jolene, don't be shy.

Since you like Mr. Britt, just say it. Dad won't refuse."

Jenny gave her a look suggesting that Jolene was too shy to speak up, making Jolene so angry that she wanted to hit her. No wonder Graham had brought up the topic again; it turned out that this despicable Jenny was behind it.

She gritted her teeth and stared at her fiercely. "Did you do it on purpose?"

"What are you talking about, Jolene? As your elder sister, I want you to be happy." Jenny grinned at her. Her smile could've fooled them into thinking she meant what she said.

However, neither Jolene nor Rowena believed her; only Graham did.

"Jenny! You despicable brat! You set me up!" She was furious now that she understood what was going on. She knew that Jenny must have deliberately brought Graham to the garden to witness her hug Brandon just to force her to marry him

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 643-You Rascal Jolene charged at Jenny, ready to beat her up, but Jenny was unruffled, showing no intention of dodging.

Graham slammed the table, and Jolene was shocked by the loud sound. She stopped in her tracks and didn't get to Jenny.

"You rascal!” he roared. "Jenny is your sister!"

"I don't have a sister! I'm my mom's only daughter!” Perhaps, she had been emboldened out of anger or her strong refusal against marrying Brandon Britt.

She talked back to Graham despite fearing him.

The scowl on his face deepened. "If you dare speak in this manner in public, I'd put you in your place!"

"Why can't I say that? She's not my sister anyway!" Jolene was enraged as well.

"Have you ever given me any attention since she joined the family? We're both your daughters! How could you play favorites?” "How could you compare yourself to Jenny? Do you think you're comparable?"

he bellowed as he grew increasingly irritated by Jolene's behavior. His words were jarring to Jolene. She glared at him with unbridled resentment in her eyes, which he picked up easily. "Oh, you're rebelling now, huh? Did I raise an ungrateful daughter?"

Jolene wanted to retort but was held back by Rowena. "This is a sudden decision. Jo and I need more time to think it over."

"There's nothing to consider. The engagement party will be in a week. You just have to show up on time," Graham instructed them. It was not a question but an announcement.

Rowena couldn't stand him anymore. "Graham Walter, you'd better not cross a line!"

"If you're in my family, you need to listen to me." He didn't back down. He knew the reason behind Rowena's impudence. He once had regard for her out of consideration of the Glasses, but he did not need to do so anymore. Since he was working with the Windsors to seal the fate of the Glasses, there was no reason to fear them anymore.

She pointed at him shakily. "Graham Walter! Just wait and see!" With that, she dragged Jolene away with her.

After they left, Graham turned to Brandon. "Any objection to having the engagement in a week?"

"No." Brandon wouldn't have minded even if he were asked to marry Jolene next week.

Graham nodded, feeling glad that Brandon was at least more sensible than Jolene.

Brandon left after the discussion, leaving Graham and Jolene in the guest room.

Graham thought that Jenny was quiet because she was upset by Jolene's words, and he comforted her, "Don't take it to heart. To me, you're the daughter of the Walters." 1 "I'm fine. Don't worry." Jenny wouldn't take Jolene's words personally. Moreover, she didn't care if she was part of the Walters. Even if she weren't, it wouldn't affect her much.

However, Graham took her indifference as being thoughtful. He thought she insisted she was fine because she didn't want to worry him. That made him feel sorrier for her. He decided it was the best decision to get Jolene married to stop her from harassing Jenny at home.

Later, Jenny parted with Graham and retired to her room. Instead of sleeping, she was thinking about Alec. She couldn't wrap her head around his sudden change. How could he confess his love to her only to take it back so soon? How could that happen?

A text arrived, interrupting her thoughts. Alfred texted her the information he had gathered on Alec and the Fausts. He followed up with another, "It looks like I stand a chance to contest for the heir of the Fausts.” After all, Alfred was biologically related to the Fausts.

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 644-I Won't Leave Jenny instantly made a call to Alfred upon reading his texts. "So, are you going to compete?"

He was slightly surprised by her huge reaction. ' Why? Are you scared that I'd leave?"

"You're overthinking. Look, you're talented but not irreplaceable," she denied, but deep down, she was worried that her company would lose him. Jeneration Group had newly gone on track, and Alfred's untimely departure would only cause her to suffer. Still, she wouldn't stop him from leaving if he wished to.

Everyone had the freedom of choice, and she had no right to stop him.

Alfred smiled helplessly at her denial. "You're a stubborn one. Don't worry. I won't leave."

Somehow, she let out a sigh of relief, and she realized that she had overreacted just now. "I'm sorry. I was…” "I know,” he cut her off. "You don't have to explain to me. I'm only staying at Jeneration Group to prove my worth. No one can change my decision."

Despite not being in contact with the Fausts, he could imagine the complexity of the relationships in the influential family. If he wanted to contest the position of heir, he might subject himself to harassment and humiliation by others.

Alfred knew he couldn't put up with the stress, unlike Alec. He'd rather take it one step at a time. Therefore, he had nothing but admiration for Alec's patience and endurance, which he knew he lacked.

"Yeah," she replied. As long as Alfred was around, she wouldn't have to worry about Jeneration Group, freeing up time for other priorities.

He fell into a short silence before blurting out, "Did you argue with Alec again?"

When she first requested that he look into the issues between Alec and the Fausts, he noticed her low mood but didn't bring up the question. He had turned in the results of his investigation, and Jenny probably was up to speed on Alec's life. Hence, he decided to prod her a bit.

"What could we possibly fight about? There's no relationship between us anyway." She chuckled. Technically, the only relationship between Alec and her was that of an ex-married couple.

"Were you upset at him for returning to his family?" Alfred was confused by the developments between the two. The only change was Alec's return to the Fausts.

Jenny didn't answer, for she had no idea how to broach the topic.

It'd be awkward if he pressed on, so he said, "Jenny, you're a great woman.

There are many who'd love you. You don't have to be sad over him."

"Thanks." She knew that it was his attempt at comforting her. Even though she had been prejudiced against him, she gradually came to realize he was a nice person-as a colleague.

After the call, she went through the information that Alfred sent her. The information included the latest updates in the Faust Family. Alec and a few other members were called to rejoin the family business, which led to infighting. That was how Alec got into serious trouble with some of the family members and put his life in danger. Alfred didn't describe how Alec survived the ordeal. Perhaps, he failed to obtain that piece of information.

Jenny recalled her encounter with Alec earlier. Something felt amiss-he was too cold to her, and his eyes were devoid of emotion.

"Has he never loved me? If not, why would he treat me that way?" The more she mulled over it, the sadder she felt. She had decided to accept his love when she met him again, regardless of what others would think and whether they had taken down the Glasses.

In the end, she realized that her feelings were one-sided and that Alec had never wanted to be with her in the first place.

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 645-What a Joke!

Rowena brought Jolene to the Glass family's residence.

"Randy." Jolene started sobbing when she saw her cousin. Confused, he hurriedly asked, "What's the matter? Did anyone bully you?"

She quickly updated him on the events at home. At the same time, Randy's dad entered the living room and overheard Jolene's story.

"How sickening!" Wayne Glass bellowed, feeling bewildered at how his sister and niece were treated at home.

Jolene quickly greeted him, "Uncle Wayne."

Rowena, feeling aggrieved, had tears in her eyes. "Wayne, Graham has crossed a line this time. He wanted to marry Jolene off without considering her feelings."

She wouldn't have come to her family for help had she not been forced into a corner, well aware that the Glasses would not side with her in minor arguments with Graham. However, this was a wholly different issue.

Graham marrying Jolene off would mean depriving her of a chance to take over the family business, affecting both Rowena and the Glasses.

"Why would he make such a decision?" Wayne was puzzled by the turn of events because the Walters were not particularly friendly with the Britts. Why would Graham suddenly insist on a marriage for his daughter?

Jolene's temper flared when the topic was brought up. "It's all because of that bitch Jenny! She must have said something to Dad and got him to marry me off to Brandon Britt."

"Jenny…" Wayne mumbled. It was not his first time hearing the name. At first, he was unconcerned when he learned about Graham's secret daughter. Having kids out of wedlock was not unheard of in influential families, and these children wouldn't be anything of importance. To Wayne's dismay, Graham had allowed Jenny to get ahead of Jolene. What a joke!

"Wayne, I asked you to hire some hitmen for me. Have you found anyone?"

Rowena had not given up after multiple failed attempts to assassinate Jenny. To her, all the problems on hand would be solved if Jenny was dead.

Wayne collected himself and nodded at her. "I've made the arrangements.

They'll fly in from abroad soon."

"From abroad?" She was surprised.

"Yes. If we want to move without Graham getting to the bottom of it, hiring foreign mercenaries is our safest bet." Wayne believed that Jolene had to be the one to take over the Walters' business because that was the safest outcome for the Glasses.

Rowena was touched by his help. "Wayne, you are the nicest to me."

"Of course. You're family. Whoever wants to bully you need to get past me," he replied.

Despite saying that, he had an ulterior motive. He would want Jenny gone because he couldn't predict what would happen if she took over Walter Inc.

"Just stay here for a few days. You can go home after I deal with Jenny. I bet Graham wouldn't force Jolene to marry Brandon by then," Wayne reminded them. The women nodded and agreed with his decision, as none of them wanted to return to Walter Villa.

On his way out, a question popped up in his mind, and he turned around." Do you feel that Graham’s acting weird lately? Did he pull any tricks?"

Rowena and Jolene looked lost. They did not understand the question.

Seeing that, he waved and said, "Never mind. I was just asking."

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 646-Test Her Out In the study room upstairs, Wayne was frowning at Randy. 'Get someone to keep tabs on the Walters, especially Graham Walter. I need to know what he’s up to lately."

"Dad, what are you suspecting?" Randy was curious.

"A few of our business contracts ran into problems. I suspect that someone has been sabotaging us." Wayne did not get to where he was without his shrewdness. The problems he identified were minor, buttheir sudden emergence puzzled him.

Randy immediately grew wary. "Is someone sabotaging us? Who? The Walters?” 'I don’t know. It’s just a guess." Wayne started suspecting Graham because the man had recently acted bolder and more irreverent toward the Glasses.

Randy frowned with a resentful look in his eyes. "That’s possible. Graham Walter has been upset with us for a while. He’s just holding back all along." He was sure that Graham was behind everything, but he could not figure out the reason behind his audacity. The Walters might be more powerful than the Glasses, but they were not strong enough to hurt them.

Wayne shared the same understanding and said, "That’s why we need someone to keep tabs on Graham. We need to know what he’s up to and who he’s met with.” "Sure, I will get that arranged." Randy nodded.

"We have nothing to fear if the Walters want to make a move against us- we might even get something good out of it. I’m only worried if…” Randy didn't need Wayne to say it out loud. He was smart enough to figure out the possibility that the Walters might collaborate with someone else to take his family down. If that were the case, the Glasses would be in a crisis.

"Test Jenny Walter out if you have a chance. Let's see how capable she is,"

Wayne suggested. At this point, they had no choice but to take her seriously.

Randy nodded. He understood the complexity of the situation, which might even concern the survival of the Glasses. He could not afford to be careless.

Meanwhile, Jenny, unaware of the conversation between the father and son, wracked her brain over the night but failed to figure out if Alec still had feelings for her and whether he was hiding his feelings. Finally, she gave up on thinking, refusing to interpret the logic behind his actions. Plus, she was too occupied with work to waste time on him.

The next day, she returned to work at the Walter Inc office. Her collaboration with Hunter Meyers won her some reluctant acknowledgment from her colleagues. They finally put aside the suspicion that she had used her privilege to get ahead, and they begrudgingly admitted that her hard work had brought business to the company.

"Jenny." Cherry came up to her.

Jenny nodded at her. "Did anything happen in the company over the past few days?"

"Nothing happened. But you and Jolene were both absent. Everyone guessed that the two of you weren't returning." Even if the two privileged daughters of Graham Walter decided to quit working after a few days, no one would find it unusual. If one had the wealth, there was no point hustling away for monthly wages. At least, Cherry wouldn't do so.

Jenny chuckled when she imagined how Jolene was not in the mood for work at the moment.

"Jenny, is Jolene getting engaged to Brandon Britt for real?" Cherry asked in a hushed voice. It was a rumor that made rounds in the company, and she was curious about it. Jenny raised an eyebrow, looking surprised." Where did you hearthat from?"

"Everyone in the company is talking about it." Cherry smiled wryly. She couldn't have avoided learning about the gossip even if she had wanted to.

"Just wait for the announcement. If the news is true, we will hear about it today."

Jenny did not offer a conclusive reply, but she knew that Graham would never change his decision. She believed that the Walters and the Britts would release a joint announcement of the happy news soon.

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 647-Who Is This?

Like Jenny had guessed, the Walters and the Britts released a joint statement about the engagement before noon. The engagement event was slated a week later. Not only were the Walter Inc employees gossiping about it, but netizens were also discussing the news. Most sent their blessings to the couple.

In their eyes, the two families were a great match. Jolene would be marrying into wealth anyway, which was definitely better than becoming a corporate slave like the rest of them.

Jenny quickly glanced through the online comments and soon went back to work. It had been some time since her last successful business negotiation.

During the period in between, she was occupied by non-work issues. If she didn't get started, her colleagues would think she came to work just to pass the time.

She poured through the information of clients in hand and hesitated on who to approach. Graham had introduced her to many of the contacts in events before, and she was sure they wouldn't turn her down. Still, she didn't like the low-effort process.

When she was deliberating, she got distracted by her ringing phone. Puzzled by the unknown number, she picked up anyway.

"Miss Walter." She heard an unfamiliar male voice from the other end.

"Who is this?"

"I'm Randy. Randy Glass, your cousin." He was dumbfounded by her reaction and wondered if he was easily forgettable. He even greeted her the last time they met.

"Randy Glass?" she thought. After a slight pause, she recalled the memory of meeting him and pieced together a vague impression.

"What's the matter?" She was neither interested in chatting with nor getting close to her cousin.

Randy was slightly annoyed by her reaction but held back his temper when he recalled Wayne's instructions. He asked, "Are you free? I’d like to treat you to a meal."

Frowning, she believed he wouldn't have popped up out of nowhere without a motive. Her silence made him nervous. "I heard that you have been working at the business development department at Walter Inc. I happen to need a business partner for a project.” Her eyes immediately lit up. "Sure. Share the address with me."

Soon, she received the restaurant's address and hurried over without hesitation.

She wasn't particularly interested in the project, but she thought it would be an excellent opportunity to give the Glasses some trouble.

She arrived at the restaurant fast and entered. Scanning the surroundings, she instantly noticed Randy sitting by the window. Although she didn’t like him, she had to admit he was good-looking. When she thought about it, the children from the Ten Elites who crossed paths with her all seemed attractive. Perhaps, they were the benefactors of good genes.

’You're here. Take a seat," Randy greeted her with a smile as she took a seat across from him boldly. Then, she stared at him without a word to gauge his actions.

Her gaze sent shivers down his spine. He was terrified by her eyes that could read his mind. "What do you want to order?” he asked, failing to hold back anymore.

She smiled softly. "Anything will do. You can decide for me."

Randy called the waitress over and ordered a few signature dishes.

"Aren't you here to discuss the project with me? Tell me about it," she broke the silence and questioned him. He took out a proposal, looking prepared for the discussion. She received it and skimmed through the contents.

Smiling, Jenny asked, "Oh, didn't you just win the South City Development Project bid? Why would you be so generous with the partnership offer?"

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 648-I'll Think About It Randy flashed an earnest smile at her. "I won't do this for outsiders. My generosity is only reserved for family, for example, my dear cousin."

She silently smirked at the remark but did not call him out. The land south of the city, which the Glasses bid, was going to be developed into a business district.

Clearly, the area would flourish in the future. But Randy suddenly offered her a partnership in the lucrative project they had just bagged, and it all felt odd to her.

"That’s a huge project. I need to discuss it with Dad.” More importantly, she needed to do some investigation into the issues behind the land—there must be something. Else, the Glass Family wouldn't have suggested a partnership.

While they were planning to acquire the Glasses' business, the Glasses might also be scheming against the Walters. At the end of the day, the Glasses were no saints.

Randy had no objection to her request for time. The Glass Family recently got their hands on the land and did not start any construction, but many companies must be vying for the partnership. He was confident that the opportunity would tempt Graham.

"There's no rush. Let's dig in." His indifference surprised her, for she had expected him to stop her from discussing the matter with Graham.

"Is he confident we'd not find any issues with the land?" She wondered about the strategy behind the Glass Family's move while eating.

"Jenny, what do you think of Jolene's marriage?" Randy's random question prompted her to look up in surprise. She wondered if the Glasses' goal was to get the marriage canceled for Jolene's sake. That sounded plausible. If the Glasses wanted to put the partnership on the table in exchange for Jolene's freedom, Graham might actually consider the deal.

She gathered herself and replied coolly, "It's wonderful. They're in love with each other."

"Are they?" He frowned when he learned about the truth.

"Yeah. Dad and I walked in on them hugging. What else could that be if not love?" She chuckled, amused by Randy's shallow understanding of Jolene's character.

Indeed, his expression fell when he heard Jenny's words. "They hugged? I thought Jolene didn't like the Britt guy at all," he thought, feeling cheated. Still, he kept his cool in front of Jenny. "Oh, if they are in love, that's even better."

"What if they were not in love? Would your family stop her from marrying Brandon Britt? Nothing good will come out of angering Dad at this point." She glanced at him coldly as she tested the lengths that his family would go for Jolene.

Taking her hint, he placed the cutlery on the table and leaned back into his chair.

"Well, I don't necessarily have to side with Jolene. Both of you are my cousins, and I'm cool with whoever's taking over the Walters' business."

She lifted a brow quizzically but said nothing.

"Jenny, why don't you consider working with my family, as I suggested earlier?"

If Jenny was willing to work with the Glasses, Randy figured they would not need Jolene. He had always held Jolene in poor regard, thinking that she was talentless and time spent on her would only go to waste. They had been stuck with Jolene since she was Rowena's only daughter, but they had a choice now.

Instead of rejecting him outright, she seemed to ponder over his suggestion. "I'll think about it. There's no harm in working with the Glasses. It's a win-win situation."

"That’s right. We're relatives too." He nodded at her. Although the two families were related by marriage, they rarely collaborated, mostly because Graham held a grudge against the family for forcing him to marry Rowena. Therefore, he not only did not work with Rowena's family but also actively gave them trouble.

The Glasses wouldn't have tolerated his antics had it not been for the success of Walter Inc.

 

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 649-A Narcissist After that, they engaged in a pleasant conversation, or so it seemed to Randy and the others.

Jenny, on the other hand, never entertained the idea of working with the Glasses. That family was going down soon anyway.

"I need to go to the restroom." She left the table.

Seeing that, Randy called his father and shared some updates about his lunch with Jenny.

She had no idea about the call, occupied by another pressing matter. A man had showed up in front of her, his figure towering over her. He seemed surprised to run into her.

She stared at Alec Faust. When she was about to speak, he frowned with irritation. ' Miss Walter, please have some self-control. I don't like women who obsess over me."

She was speechless. Did Alec just accuse her of obsessing over him?

"Alec Faust, you're a narcissist," she snickered and fired back since he did not show her any respect in the first place. "If anything, you're the one who's obsessed with me," she added , tone hostile.

The frown on his face deepened as he scrunched his face. ' That was all in the past. I will never do that now. So, can you please stop showing up in front of me?"

For some reason, he always felt disturbed when he saw her. He could barely fight the urge to get closer to her, and his rational mind would frame his feelings as a symptom of his poor mental health and warn him to exert more self-control.

He suffered greatly from the tug-of-war between his mind and his emotions.

Under this situation, he decided it was best not to meet Jenny at all.

"Come on! Did you think that I stalked you all the way here?" She was speechless at how Alec remained as egotistical as he was. He raised a brow without denying it. She guffawed. "You're overthinking. You're not the only person who could dine here. I'm here with someone. Alright?"

His mood tanked upon hearing that she had company. Did she come here to dine with that person? He could not stop ruminating even though he knew he shouldn't. From this, he assumed that his mental health issues were not fully resolved yet.

When she reappeared from the restroom, Alec was nowhere to be seen. She believed he might have left. Gritting her teeth, she strode into the main hall.

"What's wrong? You look pale." Randy noticed the change in her expression and found it weird.

She took a deep breath, silently scolding herself for acting like a loser who was affected by Alec's words.

"It's nothing. I ran into a narcissist." She waved her hand, seemingly unwilling to continue the conversation.

Randy was curious about the narcissist she mentioned, but he did not press on because she was reluctant to divulge anything. They dived into a conversation but were soon distracted by a group of patrons that emerged from a lounge room. Jenny spotted Alec Faust and went speechless. He was still around.

However, he had a female companion who seemed intimate with him. It was an upsetting sight for Jenny.

Alec noticed her presence, along with Randy's. There was an almost unnoticeable change in his expression, which no one else picked up except for Blake Watkins beside him.

"Aren't they Jenny Walter and Randy Glass?" As a member of the Watkins, Blake knew Randy.

Alec had a vague memory of Randy Glass as well. Ever since he decided to fight and take over the Fausts, he collected and went through the details of the Ten Elites and learned the names

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 650-People Are Fickle-Minded "They look great together," Blake remarked casually, attracting Alec's gaze. She hurriedly clarified, "The Walters and the Glasses might be relatives, but Jenny and Randy are not blood-related. Everyone knows that."

Although Graham presented Jenny as his and Rowena's long-lost daughter, everyone was clever enough to figure out that Rowena was not Jenny's birth mother.

Alec was irked by the reminder that Jenny and Randy were not blood- related.

Their existence seemed unusually jarring to him when he looked at them again.

"Let's go," Blake urged. He nodded and left with her. He didn't expect to run into Jenny during his business meeting at the restaurant, and he was even more surprised to see her dining with Randy.

Once Alec and Blake were gone, Randy shifted his focus back to Jenny. ’ Isn't that guy your ex-husband?"

Thanks to his thorough investigation, he was more than familiar with Jenny's background. That was how he recognized Alec Faust right away.

"Yeah," she didn't deny. Her relationship with Alec was nothing shameful.

"I heard that the Fausts recently roped in their indirect descendants. Looks like he's one of them." As the creme de la creme of the Ten Elites, the Fausts always attracted eyes with each move.

Jenny said nothing, so he went on, "I bet the others wouldn't stand a chance to become the heir, but Alec Faust has the capability. Do you know who's the woman beside him?" He purposely dangled the information in front of her.

Jenny shook her head—she had no idea.

"She's the daughter of the Watkins family. She wasn't actively managing the business, but things seem to have changed now." Randy grinned and stared intently at Jenny in an attempt to pick up any hint of emotional change.

However, he was disappointed when she remained unbothered, as though Alec's relationship status was none of her concern.

He wasn't ready to give up yet and said, "If Alec Faust gets help from Miss Watkins, he has a higher chance of success than his competition. But…l guess he's not ahead of them much. He can't be that naive to believe that Zeke Faust is handing over the family business to a distant relative."

Although Alec was a Faust, everyone knew that the Fausts treated their distant relatives as outsiders.

Jenny was unhappy to hear Randy's disparaging comments about Alec." And how do you know he has no chance of success?"

"It's not my personal opinion-just a matter of fact known to all." No one would believe that the head of the Faust family would hand over his business to outsiders.

Jenny pursed her lips, knowing that Randy was speaking the truth. "But what if there's a chance? What if he is capable and gets recognition from that old man?" She had full trust in Alec's capability. Hence, the alternative scenario was not impossible.

Randy held a different opinion. "The heir selection has got nothing to do with capability. It's all about passing the business to the bloodline."

The serious manner in which he spoke led her to realize that he was right. They were not the only ones who knew it. Perhaps, Alec understood the stakes against him too. Judging from the way he acted, he seemed dead set on competing.

"Where did he get the confidence? Is it because he has Miss Watkins on his side?" she mulled.

"Look how he was all obsessed over you last time. I can't believe that he gave up on pursuing you this soon. People are indeed fickle-minded. He probably thinks that given he's a Faust, and with Blake Watkins supporting him, you are no longer up to his standard." While speaking, he observed Jenny keenly.

Her face soured as she glared at him, knowing well that he had purposely said that to her. "You don't have to remind me about it.
