Ch. 571..580
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 571-I Think You Are Alec was somewhat surprised by the seriousness of her question. He gave it some serious thought for several minutes.
After what seemed like a year, he met Jenny's gaze again. "I like how dedicated you are and how strong you make yourself be. I like everything about you."
The first time Alec had seen her, she was tending to a patient. The patient hadn't believed in her skill and had called for the hospital director to vouch for her. Alec had stepped in to vouch for her instead. He hadn't thought much of it at first-he just wanted to plant a good impression n.ovelxo since he also wanted Jenny to operate on him.
But things escalated so quickly after they met. He never imagined that he would fall in love with her. Only after all the time they had spent together did he realize he had fallen for her the moment he got to know her.
"I'm not as nice a person as you say I am, you know," Jenny huffed. She wasn't a saint.
"That's alright. All that matters is that I think you are," Alec beamed. Jenny was the most wonderful creature he had ever laid eyes on.
Jenny stayed quiet as if deep in thought.
"Are you…considering being my girlfriend?" Alec asked. It was possible, given how sudden this question came. He had truly made a mistake back then. If she gave him another chance, he'd never ever hide anything from her again.
Jenny was thinking that too. She did like Alec, and staying in this weird friends but not quite lovers situation was getting pretty pointless. But on account of Graham still on the fence about helping Alec, she decided," Let's wait till after we've dealt with the Glass family. Your strength will only show in the city if you take care of them."
She could put in a good word with Graham afterward, too. n.ovelxo Though, she honestly didn't care what Graham thought of Alec. All she was worried about was if Graham would do something to hurt Alec in the future when she started dating him again.
Jenny suddenly empathized with Alec for having hidden the situation with Mortimer Faust from her. She was in the same boat now.
"Okay." Alec grinned. A definite answer was better than not knowing where to set his sights.
As their conversation ended, Graham called Jenny's number to check on her.
"It's late," he said. "Come home."
"Get going then. It is late," Alec said. n.ovelxo He would miss her, but they had all the time in the world now.
Jenny stood up. "Sleep early…l won't be going anywhere tomorrow.
Probably just going to plan how to rescue Stephanie. We'll take action the day after."
"Alright." Alec nodded. "I'll come with you the day after."
"You don't need to. Paul can't do anything with my father here," Jenny said hesitantly. If Alec went along with her, there was a good chance his friendship with Paul would end right there. As much as Jenny despised Paul, she still didn't want Alec to lose a friend.
"It's okay. He’d have heard about everything even if I didn't go." n.ovelxo Alec shrugged. Paul wasn't to be taken lightly. He had quick reflexes and would make a move the moment Stephanie was gone. Alec would be in just as much trouble then.
Jenny didn't dissuade him further. She went back across the hallway to her apartment.
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 572-You Didn't Bring Any House Gifts?
The next day, Jenny and Alec spent their time sorting things out. Jenny brought Graham to Orchid Village to pay their respects to her grandfather and inform him that she had returned to her family.
Even though Horace wasn't related to her by blood, n.ovelxo she still viewed him as her biological grandfather. The old man had raised her to become the person she was today. Not even Graham could compare.
Good thing Graham knew that too. He hadn't forced Jenny to stop referring to the old man as her grandpa, nor did he make her pay respects to his father.
In fact, Graham's father was the one who forced Graham and Jenny’s mother to separate. For that reason, Jenny would never recognize him as family, even if she cared about the Walters.
Graham paid his respects to Horace as well, gently touching the gravestone.
"Thank you for taking care of my Jenny, sir. She's a fine young woman today, all because of you. I can never thank you enough."
Afterward, Jenny brought Graham to David Wilkins' home. David hurriedly invited them inside, showing the utmost hospitality to Graham.
Sure, he didn't know who this man was, but based on his attire, he could guess he came from a wealthy family.
"Uncle David,’ Jenny greeted kindly,n.ovelxo then noticed that Hannah and Felicity were nowhere to be seen. Felicity had been arrested prior and left in detention for a few days. She should have been bailed out by now, as Jenny never filed a legal suit against her.
"They're out right now," David explained.
Embarrassed, Jenny said, "Uncle, about what happened to Felicity…"
"You did nothing wrong. It was all her." David nodded. He wasn't educated, but he knew the basics of right and wrong.
Jenny relaxed, knowing her uncle wasn't angry at her. Besides her grandfather and her uncle, she didn't value relations with anyone else in the village "Mr. Wilkins, right? A pleasure to meet you," Graham greeted politely, guessing that Jenny had a close relationship with him.
David waved a hand. "Jenny calls me uncle. n.ovelxo It would be strange if you called me sir. I know I seem old, but I promise I'm not. We're around the same age, I believe."
The two men then got to know each other's ages, and Graham smiled awkwardly, "I guess that makes us brothers."
"Perfectly alright with me." David shrugged. He was Jenny's uncle, and nothing would change that. He then had Graham and Jenny make themselves at home before going to make lunch in the kitchen, but Jenny ended up helping him out.
Graham leaned back on the couch, quietly enjoying the cozy environment and rustic air. He could smell the grass from out the window and hear the wind rustle in the trees.
No wonder Jenny missed this place. n.ovelxo He would, too, if he grew up here.
Just as he was enjoying his time, the front door opened. It was Felicity and Hannah, back from their little excursion. The women gazed at Graham in shock.
"Jenny's father, right?" Hannah asked.
Graham nodded. "That's me." "I'm her aunt, and this is Felicity, Jenny's cousin.
Didn't you bring any house gifts?" Felicity said rudely. She had heard from Felicity that Jenny's family turned out to be one of the wealthiest in the city.
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 573-I Won't Give Her a Single Cent Graham couldn't deduce what kind of relationship Jenny had with these women.
He just had a strong feeling that theirs was very different from her uncle's.
However, he didn't think much of it and pulled out a pouch of cash bills from his pocket. He had prepared it beforehand and handed it to Felicity.
"A token of my gratitude. n.ovelxo For the young one's future." He hadn't prepared anything for Hannah. Granted, it would be strange if he did.
Felicity beamed, greedily eyeing the thick pouch. "It must be loaded with cash,"
she thought. Before she could take the pouch, it was snatched away.
Beside them, Jenny opened the newly-acquired pouch and peered inside.
"What are you…" Graham asked, confused.
There were at least ten thousand dollars in there. Sure, it wasn't much to Graham, but Jenny wasn't about to let her cousin have it so easily.
She pulled out two hundred dollars and shoved it to Felicity. "Here. That's about how much our relationship is worth, anyway."
"Jenny…" Graham was about to speak up when Jenny interrupted him.
"Hush, please. I know what I'm doing."
She would give the remaining money to her uncle, but not in front of these two women. Otherwise,n.ovelxo the money would just end up in their hands.
Felicity’s eyes reddened at the two hundred dollars. "You're so mean to me, Jenny! This isn't even enough for a week!"
Jenny rolled her eyes, retracting her arm. "Alright. I'll take it back t—"
But Felicity quickly took the bills from her hand. "You can't go back on your word now!"
Two hundred dollars was better than nothing. She didn't have a job anymore, nor did their family have much money. This money was enough to get her a new dress.
Jenny sneered, not surprised at all.
Hannah glared at Jenny. 'We raised you, Jenny.n.ovelxo You've found your birth father and will leave with him, most likely never to return to this village again.
Cant we get even a little bit of compensation?"
"Sure." Jenny shrugged, watching Hannah's eyes light up.
"Then can we have it-"
"But you don't deserve it," Jenny continued, still smiling. "I would've given however much you need if Grandpa was still here, but he isn't anymore."
Hannah's face turned beet red. "Your grandpa isn't here, but your uncle still is.
He's your grandpa's only heir, so giving the money to him would-"
"Heh." Jenny sneered. Her uncle was kind to her, but in truth, only her grandfather had taken care of her all these years. Nothing to do with her uncle.
"Hannah Fendley, you better shut up right now!' David roared, storming out from the kitchen. He wouldn't dream of getting any money from Jenny. It wasn't like they spent any money raising her.
"What? What did I say? Your father spent our money raising her!"n.ovelxo Hannah huffed, still firm in her stance. This could very well be her last time seeing Jenny. She might never have a chance to get that kind of money again.
"You…" David fumed, finger pointed at Hannah shaking in the air.
Jenny hurriedly went to his side. "It's alright. Uncle David. I won't give her a single cent."
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 574-Nothing Good Will Turn Out From This David relaxed upon hearing that. He truly worried Graham would give the women money, not that he didn't care about them, but because he knew very well it wasn't theirs to have.
"You must give us this compensation today, Jenny Walter!" Hannah commanded angrily. No way would she let Jenny leave without first paying them.
Felicity didn't side with her mother this time. n.ovelxo Instead, she tugged on the woman's sleeve. "Let's just let this go, Mom. She's too powerful."
Ever since Jenny had sicced the cops on her, she had held a level of reverence and fear against Jenny. She didn't want her mother to face the same mess.
"She's too powerful? I'll show you powerful!" Hannah sneered, finding her daughter cowardly.
Jenny chuckled at how silly she looked. n.ovelxo "Yeah? What'll you do if I don't give it to you? Beat me up?"
"You…" Hannah realized she had a point. She wouldn't be able to handle the father and daughter on her own. Her husband would obviously not come to her aid, either. With that in mind, she softened up. "Jenny…you're wealthy now. All my family needs is this little bit to survive. Why are you so stingy?"
Graham felt the same way. This wad of cash was really nothing to him.
However, Jenny didn't want to be so kind. If it was her family's money, she wanted a say in how it was given.
"I didn't get my money from trees, and neither did my father. If you want money so bad, get a job," Jenny sneered, glaring at the mother and daughter. "Lazing around at home all day like a pair of fat ticks while waiting for Uncle David to feed you. Aren't you ashamed at all?"
As ugly as her choice of words was, it was the truth. David earned only a little from his agriculture work, which almost always got depleted in the hands of his good-for-nothing wife and daughter. Truly, Jenny pitied him.
"He's my husband and Felicity's father. He should be taking care of us," Hannah declared pigheadedly.' Jenny turned away, holding her uncle's arm. She was angry about this, yes, but it was their reality. She couldn't do much. n.ovelxo"Let's get back to cooking, Uncle David. Ignore their babbling.’ Before entering the kitchen, she even told Graham, "I'm warning you, don't give them anything, or you'll never see me again."
The man stared off in silence, shocked at her tone. If this was Jolene speaking to him, he would've exploded with rage. But he held it back because this was his beloved Jenny.
After the two left, Graham went outside for a stroll, ignoring the fuming mother and daughter in the living room.
Hannah sighed, "Your father is a useless piece of shit. He doesn't even have the guts to claim that money, and it's even given freely!"
"Let's just forget it. There's no point arguing with that evil woman. She's not gonna pity us." Felicity didn't want to go head-to-head with Jenny ever again.
She had a feeling she'd be on the losing end.
Hannah nodded. She had really lost her chance now.
In the kitchen, Jenny shoved the pouch of cash from earlier into David's hands.
"I know this is your family's affairs, n.ovelxo Uncle David, but…if you let them continue abusing you like this, nothing good will ever turn out for you. You cant take care of them your entire life, and it's not like they ever appreciate you for what you did."
Jenny had already noticed that Hannah didn't respect David at all. There was no telling what she would do given the chance.
David was about to reject the money when Jenny cut in again. "This is my token of gratitude. Keep it, and don't let them know. Use it for yourself."
David couldn't refuse her. "I understand what you're trying to say… I know what I have to do."
Whether he really did or he was just saying it, Jenny didn't know. She could only trust that she had done her part.
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 575-What Kind of Father Would…
Jenny and Graham had lunch with David and his family, ignoring Hannah and Felicity's bickering. Afterward, they left Orchid Village and went back to Parrington.
Jenny’s plans were nearly complete. All she had to do now was make sure to successfully rescue Stephanie.
Paul hadn't restricted her personal freedom nor stopped her from using her phone,n.ovelxo but Jenny hadn't called Stephanie even once to keep Paul clueless about her plans.
After dropping her father off, Jenny went to the Walker family home to meet Stephanie's parents.
"Mr. Walker, Mrs. Walker," Jenny greeted. The husband and wife seemed much more tired than they had ever been.
"Is everything ready, Jenny?"n.ovelxo The two asked her eagerly. "Can Stephanie leave with us now?"
"Mhm. That's what I'm here for, actually." She knew the two had waited for a long time for their daughter's rescue.
Though Stephanie didn't seem that restrained from her personal freedom, nor did Paul stop her from visiting her family, Stephanie had never done so just to not create issues for her parents. The Walkers understood this, and that was why they worried for Stephanie even more.
"Have you settled things at Walker Inc yet?" Jenny asked. They needed to get everything done before Stephanie could safely be relocated to Bardoff City.
"Yes. We can leave at any second."
"Good." Jenny nodded. "You two will take the first flight to Bardoff City tomorrow morning."
"But what about-"
"I'll go with her." Jenny needed to make sure Charles and his wife were secure first, n.ovelxo or they would be held hostage by Paul.
The two nodded. They could only hope for the best now. But they had also heard about Jenny finding her family again, so hopefully, they’d get the extra protection from the Walters.
After returning to her apartment, Jenny never stepped outside again for the day.
Meanwhile, at the Old Mansion, Alec silently stared at Mortimer hunched over in the distance.
"Are you really ready to do this, Alec?" Old Mr. Faust asked. He had known the day would come when his grandson's wings hardened. He just couldn't stop worrying about him.
Bardoff City was darker and more dangerous than Parrington, which is why the old man had left in the first place. But now that his grandson was going there, he wondered if his leaving there all those years ago was a mistake.
Alec nodded. ’Faust Group needs to expand to the city in order to grow further."
"You're right. I still worry about you, though." He wasn't the powerful man he used to be. He couldn't exactly jump to Alec's defense if he needed it. Glancing at Mortimer in the distance. Old Mr. Faust sighed.
"You don’t need to worry about me. I'll bring you to stay with me in Bardoff City once things settle down." To Alec, his grandfather was his only living family.
There was no question as to them living together in Bardoff City when the time was right.
Old Mr. Faust didn't refute. ’Alright. I'll wait for your good news."
He didn't know whether he should speak his worries to Alec or not.
Just then, he noticed that Alec was staring at Mortimer.
"Your father…"
"He's not my father," Alec snapped.
Hearing this, Mortimer scowled.n.ovelxo ’I'm your father whether you like it or not." "What kind of father would want to kill their own son?" Alec shot back almost instantly.
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 576-Leave The moment those words left Alec's mouth, Mortimer stiffened up while Old Mr.
Faust's expression grew solemn. "What do you mean, Alec? Did he do something to you?"
Old Mr. Faust had promised himself to forgive all the foolishness his son had done in the past, as long as he never hurt Alec, but now…
"Don't spout nonsense, Alec Faust. When did I try to kill you?’ Knowing his father's personality, Mortimer forced himself to stand his ground.
Alec sneered, then tossed up several documents of evidence. n.ovelxo "You bribed that therapist, didn't you?” Chills ran up Mortimer’s spine. He had totally forgotten about that.
When he found that therapist, he bribed the man not to help Alec's condition. In fact, he had told the therapist to encourage it to worsen. He also promised a boatload of money if the therapist convinced Alec to commit suicide.
There just didn’t seem to be much of a result afterward. Mortimer had even wondered if that therapist had failed.
When Old Mr. Faust read through the evidence, his face turned dangerously dark.
"Mortimer Faust!" He roared, balling the paper and throwing it at his son."
n.ovelxo Are you out of your mind?! Alec is your own son, for God's sake!"
He was absolutely disappointed with Mortimer right now. How could he have raised a son like this? It was fine if Mortimer couldn't help out with the family business, but trying to kill his own son?
Mortimer said nothing, staring fixedly at the evidence. There was no use arguing because no one would believe him, and he did actually bribe the therapist.
"Don't you know why he wanted to kill me?" Alec suddenly asked his grandfather.
Old Mr. Faust stared at him in surprise. Alec continued, "He's doing this because of that bastard of his. You know that kid, don't you?"
If Alec's investigation could've turned up with him, Old Mr. Faust's definitely could.
"Mortimer Faust would do whatever it takes to let Alfred return to this family and officially assume as heir," Alec continued with a sneer. Unfortunately for Mortimer, his plans had all failed.
"I know of that bastard, Alfred," n.ovelxo Old Mr. Faust said solemnly. "But I'd never recognize him as a legitimate grandson."
He had only held back from silencing the kid permanently due to them sharing the same blood. He never expected Mortimer to be so evil.
Alec pointed at Mortimer. 'As for him, I don't give a shit what happens to him.
Just kick him out of the house." He was about to leave for Bardoff City, so he couldn't let his grandfather live with such an evil man under his roof.
Mortimer scowled. "You're kicking me out of my own home? God knows where you'd be, Alec Faust, if it weren't for me!"
What grounds did Alec have to kick him out of his own home?
Alec ignored him. "He's not fit to be called a Faust. I hope you can make him leave, Grandpa before he does something to shame the family further."
"Don't listen to the brat, Dad!’ Mortimer yelled. ’He forged that evidence because he wants me out!’ Only by remaining here did he have a chance to get Alfred into the family.
Old Mr. Faust sighed deeply, suddenly looking very weak and frail. "I've told you before, Mortimer…l can forgive everything that you've done in the past, as long as you never ever try to hurt a hair on Alec's head, but you never took my word to heart, did you?’ "Dad-" "Leave, Mortimer. n.ovelxo You don't belong to this family anymore, and I can no longer tolerate your mistakes," Old Mr. Faust said. He had never felt so tired. All he wanted to do was rest.
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 577-Are you happy now?" he asked, no longer having the energy to be angry. There was no point. Alec wouldn't be affected either way.
Alec stopped and looked back at him. "You're blaming me for seeing through your crimes? Even wild beasts look after their young. What does that make you?"
Mortimer's expression stiffened momentarily. n.ovelxo "I never intended for anything to happen to you. I only wanted to set a safe path for your brother's future.' "Brother? I don't have a brother," Alec sneered. He was his mother's only son.
She never had any more children after.
"Deny it all you want, Alfred is your brother." Mortimer insisted, ignoring his son's denial.
Alec's face grew shadowed with killing intent. "If I were you, I'd make sure both you and your son stay the hell away from this family. Do you really think I won't lay my hands on the both of you? Think I'm that kind?"
"You-"
"I'm warning you now. Once things are settled on my end,n.ovelxo I'll make sure both of you beg for my mercy. Just you wait," Alec hissed, then stormed away from the mansion.
Mortimer angrily gnashed his teeth. This brat really wouldn't give him rest. He was just as mean as his grandfather.
Since Mortimer couldn't stay there any longer, he started plotting his next move.
He wasn't about to give up that easily. Alfred was also Faust—why couldn't he have a share in the family too?
With that thought in mind, he went looking for Alfred to plan what to do next.
Oblivious to this, Alec went back to the office to continue working. Halfway through, Paul gave him a call, inviting him out for a drink.
Alec refused the invitation. n.ovelxo Tomorrow was the day Jenny would execute her rescue plan, which success was surer now that Graham was here to help her. That was why Alec would rather Paul spend as much time as possible with Stephanie. Who knew when he would be able to spend time with her again?
In the evening, Alec went to Jenny's as usual to make dinner. Graham remained displeased with him but was still a big fan of his cooking.
While Jenny was helping Alec wash the ingredients, he asked, "Have you called Stephanie recently?"
"No." Jenny shook her head. She needed to be careful now more than ever. "I don't want to risk Paul getting suspicious."
"Do you want to give her a call? She might not want to go to Bardoff City, /know," Alec asked lightly, paying attention to Jenny's response.
Sure enough, her eyebrows furrowed instantly. "What do you mean?"
"Paul called me earlier today. It sounds like he's made some progress with Stephanie. They've been getting along better lately." n.ovelxo Alec secretly guessed that Stephanie had developed some feelings for Paul too.
Jenny stayed silent for a good while before she said, "I know what you're saying, but it's not Paul that we disapprove of.Jt's how he does things.
Think of this rescue as a test set for him. It'll make him understand what you do when you really love someone—not force them to be beside you 24/ 7. That's not what love does."
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 578-You're Not Scared, Are You?
Alec understood what she meant, so he didn't refute her. 'You have a good point. It's best that Paul learns how to truly love someone."
Otherwise, their relationship might not make it through all the challenges that arose once things turned serious.
Frankly, Alec was quite similar to Paul in terms of romance. He just wasn't as overbearing—he'd never dreamt of caging her by his side. Instead, Alec would try and win her over through his actions.
Dinner was soon ready for the three people.
"We're going back to Bardoff City tomorrow, right?" Graham asked, just to make sure.
Jenny nodded. "Right away after getting Stephanie out, yes."
Even if Graham was there in person to support this plan, Jenny still didn't want to risk dallying around. It was safer to leave as soon as possible.
Graham nodded. He wasn't concerned about this Paul Wagner fellow, especially when his territory was limited to Parrington. Things would be different if the man were situated in Bardoff City. After all, Parrington's powers couldn't compare to Bardoff City's.
Jenny turned to Alec. "What about you? When do you plan to leave for the city?"
"Maybe in a few days. I still have to work to settle here." He wasn't going to leave so soon, partially because of Paul too. Paul was his friend, and he would most likely need to console him after losing Stephanie. Alec was already feeling bad for not helping Paul. It was the least he could do to retain their friendship.
Jenny nodded and ate her food. Graham, however, huffed, "You're not scared of the Glasses, are you?"
Graham preferred taking action once concrete plans were made to prevent the risk of the odds stacked against him. How could their plan to take the family over be put into action if Alec wasn't going to play his role in Bardoff?
"Don't worry, sir. I won't take too much time," Alec replied kindly. He wasn't going to lose his temper on Jenny's father, of all people.
Before Graham could respond, Jenny said, "Don't rush things. It'll do us good to make sure we're fully prepared. The Glass family won't be easy to take down."
Graham was left staring glumly at her. "This wasn't what you said before, dear daughter," he thought. However, he had lost the right to say things like that when he let the Wilkins family foster her.
After dinner, the three of them returned to their respective rooms to rest.
Tomorrow was a big day, after all.
In Paul's villa, the man frowned when he noticed Stephanie staring off into the distance, deep in thought.
"What's on your mind?"
Stephanie turned back to glance at him, then shook her head. "It's nothing."
"Are you bored?' Paul went up to her, tone and demeanor much gentler than it used to be.
Stephanie said nothing. In truth, she was worried about her parents. She had barely visited nor called them because of tight supervision under Paul's command, wanting them to avoid getting into unnecessary trouble.
"Alec says Jenny is back in Parrington. Do you wanna have lunch with her? I'll come with you."
Paul asked something he had never asked before. He didn't like Jenny and didn't want Stephanie to be in contact with that woman, but he didn't want to see Stephanie upset, either.
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 579-Really?
Stephanie shuddered just the slightest when she heard Jenny's name." Really?
When did she come back? She never told me."
"She's one of the Bardoff City Ten Elites now,” Paul scoffed, ecstatic that Stephanie might never see Jenny again. "She might've forgotten all about you."
Stephanie hummed quietly, though she knew deep in her heart that Jenny would never do that.
Paul wrapped his arms around her. "Don't worry. Unlike her, I’d never ever leave you behind.’ "Really?” Stephanie asked.
Paul didn't answer, choosing to respond with his actions instead.
The next morning, sunlight filtered into the room and brought life to the mess of sheets and limbs on the bed. Stephanie opened her eyes. The space on the bed where Paul had been was already cold. He must've left for work.
She got up and showered, put on some makeup,n.ovelxo then started packing her things.
She really hadn't known Jenny had come back to Parrington. But the moment she did, she knew her time to leave had come.
Stephanie looked around the space, reflecting on her time there. It had been so long since she'd been kept in this gilded cage. Her outright resistance from the start had turned into silent acceptance, now turning into reluctance, much to her surprise.
However, she hadn't lost her sense of self. n.ovelxoShe still knew what she wanted. Yes, she had feelings for Paul, but…she couldn't be locked away in this tower he built for her forever.
Stephanie couldn't become someone not even she could respect.
All this while, Paul had never learned to respect or love her.
Stephanie didn't have much, nor did she want to take any of the gifts Paul had given her. She only packed some of her clothes and belongings before she sat on the balcony, waiting.
She wasn't sure when Jenny would come, but she had a feeling she wouldn't need to wait for long.
As if predicting the future, there suddenly came a commotion from downstairs.
She turned to look. "It must be Jenny," she thought as she went downstairs with only an inconspicuous messenger bag on her back.
And right she was. "Jenny," she greeted, not needing to say anything else.
"Hey, Steph. Are you free today? I was thinking we could go on a girls' date. "
Jenny held her hand.
Stephanie nodded, preparing to leave with her when the villa's guards appeared. "Ms. Walker, n.ovelxowe can't let you leave without Mr. Wagner's permission."
Stephanie paled, the reluctance she had felt earlier dissipating in an instant.
"Paul told me himself I could spend time with Jenny. You can call him to check for yourself if you don't believe me."
The guards nodded and called Paul.
When they gave the phone to Stephanie, she asked, ’Didn't you say I could have lunch with Jenny yesterday? Are you going back on your word now?"
"Of course not." Paul's smile could be heard through the phone. "I'm just checking up on you. Have you had breakfast?"
Pity, his affectionate tone didn't touch Stephanie whatsoever. Stephanie knew Paul was only this unbothered because he was confident he wouldn't lose her, nor would she dare to leave.
"Yes." She gave a short answer. She hadn't, actually. She just didn't want to waste any more time than was necessary.
"Okay,” Paul said, and the call then sank into silence.
It made Stephanie nervous.
Could he have realized Jenny's plan?
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 580-The Plan is in Motion After several long seconds, just before Stephanie was about to say something again, Paul said, "I'll have some of my men guard you two. It's not safe for women to be out on the streets.’ "Paul…"
"They'll just be there to protect you, nothing else."
Obviously, Stephanie didn't buy that.n.ovelxo "Protecting her" was just another way to spy on her.
Stephanie was about to refuse when Jenny made a subtle signal to her.
Stephanie sighed, "Alright, fine."
After hanging up the call, Jenny and Stephanie left the villa by car with Paul's men tailing them.
In the car, Stephanie asked, "Are my Mom and Dad-” "They're safe. They've already reached Bardoff City. I'm here just for you."
Hearing this, Stephanie finally relaxed. All that mattered to her was her parents' safety. She eyed the cars behind her, guessing a good handful of Paul's men might be watching out for them. "Are you sure we'll be able to leave? I can always…"
"Don't worry about it. I'm only here today because I know we will succeed,"
Jenny assured her. "Well go to the mall first,n.ovelxo then find our chance to sneak off to the airport. My people are already there waiting."
It was best they left without letting Paul know. That way, Alec wouldn't be involved, and neither would Graham need to put his foot forth.
They soon reached the mall, where Jenny brought Stephanie "window shopping."
Behind them, one of Paul's guards reported into his earpiece, ’They're shopping for clothes right now."
"Keep your eye on them," Paul instructed. He knew Stephanie wouldn't dare run away, but…he didn't want to take the risk.
After some time, Jenny and Stephanie went to the washroom. Stephanie went in first, while Jenny noticed the guards making their way toward her.
"Really? You're gonna follow us inside, too?" she asked.
"Please don't make this difficult for us, Miss Walter," they said.
"I'm not making things difficult. I'm watching out for you guys," Jenny scoffed.
"Imagine if Paul knew all of you went into the washroom with Stephanie. How would he react, hm?"
Jenny guessed these men knew just how terrifying Paul could be. Sure enough, the men's faces immediately paled.
"Wait for us out here. It’s not like we have wings to fly away," Jenny said, then walked inside the washroom.n.ovelxo The men wouldn't dare follow her inside now.
It was their perfect chance to escape.
She had done her investigation on the mall. They would be able to climb out the washroom window and leave via the ride she had arranged to wait for them outside. Then they could head straight to the airport.
Meanwhile, Paul's eye wouldn't stop twitching. As much as he tried to focus, he always found his thoughts drifting.
Just then, his assistant knocked on the door and entered. He seemed worried.
"Sir…there's been an update on the Walkers."
Paul's expression had already turned quite ugly at this point.
"Charles and his wife flew to Bardoff City this morning." It had always been just Charles, so Paul never minded as much, but now both of them had left. That was why Paul's assistant needed to update him immediately.
