To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 561-Don't Fall For His Tricks Alec was surprised to see Graham, too, but swiftly calmed down. "Mr. Walter,"

he greeted gently.

Graham huffed. "You can stop the act."

He didn't like Alec one bit, not only because of his restlessness with Jenny but also what he did to Jolene in Bardoff City. If it weren't for Jenny's sake, he would've taken action against Alec already.

Alec wasn't upset with the man's attitude. "I have to be polite, sir. You're Jenny's father, after all."

With that, he walked into the house and went straight to the kitchen. It wasn't his first time there. He knew his way around after countless times of cooking for Jenny.

Seeing his familiarity, Graham was left speechless. It looked like his daughter had spent a lot of time with this man.no.velxo ’Didn't you say you two weren't together?" he asked Jenny.

"Yeah." Jenny nodded. "We're not together."

"Don't worry, sir. We're just friends." Alec said after poking his head out from the doorway.

Just friends? Did they take him for a fool? What kind of friend would head straight into the kitchen to cook for their friend, groceries loaded and at the ready?

Still…

Graham went to the kitchen. "You know how to cook?’ "Course he does. His cooking is amazing.’ Jenny put in a good word for Alec too.

Graham started wondering if Alec had seduced his daughter with his cooking.

no.velxo Why else would Jenny be head over heels in love with him?

"Why don't you keep your father company in the living room, Jenny?’ Alec suggested.

Jenny nodded. ’Are you sure you can handle it alone?’ She thought she'd help him with preparing the food, given he was going to cook so many dishes.

"Yes. Don't worry about me." He could handle cooking, for sure.

Jenny didn't question further. She led Graham away from the kitchen, leaving Alec alone.

The father and daughter sat down in the living room. "I think you misunderstood him some. It wasn't his fault we divorced in the first place."

"Who's fault is it then? Don't fall for his tricks, Jenny." Graham warned, hurt that his daughter was defending Alec.

Wasn't these all signs pointing to their eventual romance?

With a sigh, Jenny explained everything from the beginning, emphasizing that Alec never took time to get to know her during their marriage,no.velxo nor did they consummate it. Obviously, Jenny was insinuating Graham's unjust act of having a child with Rowena even though he didn't love her.

It was Graham's first time hearing everything that had happened. He could understand Jenny’s grandfather's intentions since no one knew when Jenny would be brought home. The old man must've worried about Jenny's future.

Hence, he arranged the marriage. Parrington's most renowned family's heir was an excellent choice to ensure her safety and comfort, after all.

The old man could've never imagined all that transpired after, however

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 562-A Nice Prospect Jenny gauged Graham's expression, anxious for his response. "So now you know. What happened isn't Alec's fault. No one likes the idea of marrying a complete stranger or having it happen to them."

"Then why does he like you now?" Graham huffed, still upset that Jenny was defending Alec.

Jenny really didn't know how to answer that. no.velxo After a long while, she said," Fate, most likely."

Graham just about choked on his own spit. "Fate? Misfortune, more like!’ he thought.

"Whatever it is, I still don't think you two are compatible,’ Graham insisted.

Alec had many good aspects about him, but in the end, he still mistreated his daughter. That was something Graham couldn't forgive.

Jenny hadn't intended to change his perspective, just tell him the truth." You don't have to worry about me anymore. I can take care of myself." She had chosen her words carefully so Graham wouldn't get angry. "You should worry about Jolene instead. She's not a kid anymore. It's time you found a nice prospect for her, no?"

Jolene and Rowena would get so pissed if that really happened.

Graham sighed.no.velxo "I can understand if you don't like Rowena, but Jolene… she's your sister no matter what. Don't scheme against her, please."

He actually hoped the sisters could get along well, but that didn't seem possible anymore, so he had permanently given up hope. Now he just prayed they didn't have any conflict with each other.

Jenny knew he wanted to be a good father, but…

"I can stay out of her way, but can she stay out of mine?" she asked with a knowing smile. "You know what your daughter is like. I'll be kind and warn you first. If she messes with me, I'm not going to hold back.’ She didn't have the evidence she needed yet. But the moment she did, she'd make sure Rowena and Jolene never had a chance to mess with her again.

Graham knew Jenny wasn't bluffing, so he nodded. "I hear you. I'll tell her this.

I'll also consider what you said about marriage."

He accepted her suggestions because he was worried about what Jolene might do to Jenny the longer she stuck around. no.velxo He really didn't know what to do if both his daughters ended up at odds with each other. So, he could only have Jolene marry someone and move out of the family home.

Hopefully, she'd drop her desire to claim the family inheritance and stop messing with Jenny.

Jenny, however, knew better. Even if Jolene married someone, she and her mother might still have eyes for Walters' inheritance.

She needed to prepare herself to prevent being so devastatingly attacked again like last time. "Brandon Britt liked her, didn't he? His family is one of the Elites, too. They'll be a good match.’ They'd make the perfect pair-neither were good-hearted people.

"Brandon Britt…" Graham gave it some thought. "The Britt family would make alright in-laws," he finally said. "Now it's just up to Jolene whether she agreed or not."

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 563-Aren't You Worried About the Glass Family?

Jenny said nothing, knowing Jolene would never agree to it, for now, at least.

She believed she deserved better, like James, for example.

Unfortunately for her, James didn't feel the same.

Just then, Alec started placing the food on the table. no.velxo Jenny got up to help him. 'Rest a while. I'm gonna go help Alec."

She had said her piece to Graham. All that could be done now was for the man to make a decision. Someone as intelligent as he was bound to come up with a win-win solution.

"It's alright,' Alec said when Jenny entered the kitchen. "I can handle this myself.

Go sit.' "I've been sitting all day." Jenny quipped, taking the platter of brisket from Alec's hands. She set it on the table, then went back to the kitchen. Alec had already started making another dish.

"You don't need to make so much food. What if we can't finish it all?" Jenny was worried Alec might tire himself out.no.velxo There were already five different courses on the table, and still, he wasn't stopping.

She knew he wanted to leave a good impression on her father, but he really didn't need to overdo it. After all, no one could stop Jenny from making her decisions in life, not even Graham.

"This won't take a second, promise," Alec replied.

He wasn't actually tired. In fact, he was feeling energized and giddy after overhearing their conversation in the living room, especially knowing Jenny was firm about their relationship. He had to do his best to support her, as well as get on Graham's good side.

With the last dish of spinach lasagna ready,no.velxo Alec went to his place and brought over a bottle of his finest red.

"Care to have a drink, sir?"

"Sure. We'll see who can hold their own." Graham scowled. No way was he going to let Alec get him drunk.

Alec poured him a glass, then got something non-alcoholic for Jenny.

As Graham observed him, he concluded that if Alec wasn't dating Jenny, he might actually find him to be a decent man. However, that wasn't the case.

When the three had sat down, Alec raised his glass to Graham. "A toast to your health, sir."

Graham raised his glass in turn, clinking glasses with Alec.

"Don't drink too much,' Jenny warned before eating a mouthful of salad.

Graham sampled Alec's cooking, finding it difficult to not admit that his food was top-notch, on par with the chef he had hired at home.

"I heard you plan to move the Faust Group's headquarters to Bardoff City?' Graham asked lightly.

Alec nodded. "Yes. There are better business opportunities there. It'll be closer to Jenny too."

"Huh. Aren't you worried the Glass family will mess with you?"no.velxo Even some of their mild antics had caused Alec great inconvenience. One could imagine what great trouble would land on Alec if they started plotting against him once they knew he was going to move his place of business to Bardoff.

Alec smiled. "Where there's a will, there's a way. One can't just retreat in the face of a challenge."

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 564-Your Consent Graham really didn't know how Alec could be so confident about it, but he didn’t pursue things further. What happened to Alec was none of his business. All he had to do was persuade Jenny not to continue being with him lest she get in trouble.

But Jenny didn't mind. She asked curiously,no.velxo 'The family business has started stagnating too, right?’ Graham frowned. He didn't like where this was going.

"Why don't you consider buying over the Glass' business?” Jenny suggested.

If that happened, Alec wouldn't have to worry about being troubled by them, nor would Rowena be a threat to Jenny any longer.

Graham shook his head. "Things aren't that simple, Jenny. The Glass family is one of the Ten Elites in Bardoff City. Our family isn't capable of taking them on."

They might even get themselves in serious trouble.

"What if you work together with Alec? If you need further help, the Windsors can step in too. I'm sure they'd be interested in his venture." The fall of the Glass family only meant more benefits for the rest of the families.

The Ten Elites would never help one of their own, after all.

Seeing Jenny so intent on it happening,no.velxo Graham turned to Alec. ’What do you think?"

Alec nodded. "I have no qualms about this plan. All we need is your consent to get started."

For a split second, Graham felt his age get to him.

These youngsters were truly admirable, talking about taking over one of the Ten Elites like it was just some startup company. Even Alec was onboard with Jenny's plan, and his family couldn't even be said to be on par with the Spade family in Bardoff. At most, his was a third-class family.

Seeing Alec's acquiescence, Jenny added, "I think you can really consider this, Dad. Our family will be able to upgrade itself by taking down the Glass family."

Graham's heart skipped a beat. no.velxoThis was the first time in his life that Jenny had called him "Dad."

He heaved a heavy sigh. He knew Jenny was doing this to help Alec; still, he couldn't help but soften up when Jenny called him Dad.

"I'll give it a serious thought," he promised.

Jenny beamed. ’Take your time to think about it. We're in no hurry."

They had to settle the complications in Parrington first, anyway.

After dinner, Alec got up, ready to leave. There was no reason for him to stay any longer, and Jenny saw him out.

In the hallway, Alec gazed deeply into Jenny's eyes for several long seconds, inviting her to ask, "What are you looking at?"

He smiled, then wrapped his arms around Jenny unexpectedly. "Thank you, Jenny."

"What for? I didn't do anything special,’ she murmured.

"You've done so much for me already." Alec knew very well that Jenny's suggestion to her father had been for his sake.

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 565-Are You Bluffing?

They did not stop embracing until footsteps sounded from behind them. Seeing Alec still in the hallway, Graham frowned. "What are you still doing here?"

"I’m just about to leave." Alec nodded no.velxo slightly and smiled at Jenny before taking out his house keys and unlocking the condo across from Jenny’s.

"Goodnight," he greeted the father and daughter, then went inside.

Jenny turned to go back into her place when she noticed how grumpy her father looked. "Are…you okay?"

"He lives here?" Graham asked sternly. Why else would the heir to Parrington's top family be living there except to stay close to his daughter? Graham fumed at the thought.

Jenny hurriedly explained, "He's lived here long before I have."

She was telling the truth too. Alec had lived in the neighboring apartment even during the two years of their marriage.

Graham snorted. "She's defending him again," he thought.

"Alright, why don't you get some rest?" Jenny went up to her father with a smile, hand gently wrapping around his arm.

Graham softened up instantly. "Okay."

The next day, Jenny left for work early in the morning, planning to have a meal with some colleagues. They had been kind to her since day one, so it was only right that they had a farewell meal together.

It would help maintain friendly connections too. Who knows? She might want to come back to work there one day.

After she left, Graham called his assistant to prepare a car for him. He wouldn't just sit around doing nothing. He’d use the chance to visit the Walter Inc branch in Parrington.

Remembering the conversation last night incited both excitement and worry. If the Glass family was taken care of, their family would advance by leaps and bounds. Rowena would think thrice before messing with Jenny again too.

With this in mind,no.velxo Graham instructed his assistant, 'Look into the Glass family. Report every single useful information about them to me, and do some probability checks on whether the company can take over theirs."

The assistant nearly slammed the car into the one ahead. "Taking over the Glass family? Are you bluffing, sir?” Graham's silence made him continue guiltily, "What I meant is, the Glasses are more or less on par with the Walters, so they won't be easy to…"

"I know, but what if we had the Windsors' help?" And Alec's, too, though theirs wouldn’t be of much effect. Still, he might be useful as bait.

His assistant was silent momentarily, then responded, "Alright, sir. I'll have someone look into it."

Their two families' cooperation and some behind-the-scenes plotting would give them a decent chance of accomplishing the feat.

There was just something the assistant didn't understand—wasn’t Graham's wife a Glass herself? Has he considered her side of things? However, he didn't dare ask these things, but at least one thing was certain: the rumor that the husband and wife were at odds with each other was quite true.

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 566-The Condition After settling her resignation matters, Jenny left the admin office. She spotted Morgan and her colleagues gazing at her sadly from afar. With a smile, she went up to them and said, ‘Join me for dinner tonight. My treat."

"Of course, I'm coming," Morgan beamed along with the others. They weren't as close with Jenny as Morgan was, but obviously, none of them were glad that things would be returning to what they were without Jenny.

After they left, Morgan held Jenny's hand and whined,no.velxo ‘Are you really going to quit, Jenny? No second thoughts?"

"None.” Jenny shrugged. "I have too many things to take care of in Bardoff. So I have to leave."

"You are recognized by the Walter family now, after all." She had found out what had happened from the news. The social gap between her and Jenny never felt farther than now.

"It's nothing to do with that. I'm still me. Being accepted by a family that shares my surname won't change me into a new person." She wasn't leaving because of the Walters influence whatsoever.

Morgan believed her, of course. She still felt sad, though. "Things are gonna go back to how they were once you leave. Did the chairman let you off easy?"

"Not even a little bit. I'm still on call for surgeries no one else here can take on."

The chairman had set that condition for Jenny’s resignation to take effect.

Morgan grinned. ’That's wonderful news!"

"He wouldn't have let me leave without saving some benefit for himself.’ Jenny scowled. She wouldn't be here in Parrington if it weren't for him. She had been slightly afraid of mentioning the resignation earlier for that same reason.

Good thing nothing awful happened. no.velxo The man had just asked her to step in to help now and then.

Jenny hadn't refused. Helping people and saving their lives was her decided purpose in life, so she'd continue to do so even after returning to Bardoff City.

After Morgan left, Jenny went to her office to pack her things. She would miss this place, though she hadn't been working there for long. Just then, someone knocked on her door. The people standing outside surprised her.

"Dr. Walter, I heard from Dr. Golding that you're resigning.’ It was one of her patients whom she had done surgery on before. Behind him were several other patients.

“Yes. But I'll still be back in Parrington for surgeries the chairman needs me for.

You can always come back here if you need help."

"I never had the chance to thank you, no.velxo Dr. Walter, for everything you've done, "the patient said sadly.

Jenny could only console him. "You don't need to thank me. I’m a doctor. It's what I do. Don't worry about my absence. Just take care of yourselves. That's the one thing you all can do for me."

The moment she said that, the patients immediately crowded her with gifts.

"Please take these as symbols of our gratitude, Dr. Walter. These are delicacies from my hometown for you to enjoy." "I can't accept these!’ Jenny refused, though she felt indescribably warm and touched, seeing her efforts being rewarded.

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 567-Gilbert's Busy But Jenny's patients didn't give her room to refuse. They turned and left, leaving her with all the gifts and items on the floor. Jenny sniffled, feeling touched to the core as she gazed at them.

It further strengthened her will to continue being a doctor to help others.

no.velxo Focusing on her business and becoming heir to her family would make her richer, but this couldn't top the satisfaction and pride being a doctor gave her.

Jenny ended up distributing the gifts to several other colleagues throughout the hospital. She hadn't been the patients' sole helper, after all.

After leaving the hospital, Jenny went to find Zack. She nearly thought she had mistaken him for someone else when they met.

Was this bespectacled, suited man really her brother?

"Jenny!' he greeted warmly. When he smiled, Jenny finally saw that this was indeed her brother.

"You've changed so much, Zack. I nearly didn't recognize you!’ "I'm now one of the upper class in Parrington, so of course, I have to dress the part." The business was booming on his end. Because of its success, he had managed to squeeze into the Parrington's elite. His youth and good looks had also brought about rumors that he was to be the next Alec Faust.

Obviously, that last part irked him to no end.

Couldn't he be the next Steve Jobs instead?

Jenny went into his office with him, observing how things were being run.

business skills. Gilbert was, no.velxo and so was Zack—she was the only exception, it seemed.

Zack's secretary made tea for Jenny. "Have a taste. I just got this shipped in,"

Zack urged.

"Mm." Jenny sipped on her tea, examining his office.

"Jenny, you're here to say goodbye to me, aren't you?" Zack asked. He had guessed as much.

Jenny nodded. "It's not as scary as you think. I just need to go to Bardoff City for some time. I'll still visit you now and then.' "I'm not worried. Bardoff City isn't far. I can always stop by too." Zack shrugged.

Jenny agreed with him. It really wasn't that far a journey from Parrington to Bardoff City. "What about Gilbert? Didn't he say he was coming back soon?

I haven't heard from him since.’ She hadn't called him in a long while and had started wondering why Gilbert hadn't returned.

Zack's expression stiffened just the slightest. With a dry chuckle, he explained, ‘He's busy settling some things overseas and won't be back till after."

"What kind of things?"

"I'm not too sure, really. Why don't you ask him when he's back?" Zack wasn't going to get himself in trouble by telling Jenny what was going on. He'd never hear the end of it if he did.

Plus, Gilbert wouldn't want Jenny to know about it, considering how much he values her.

Jenny frowned, finding things weird.no.velxo But she didn't pursue it further. "I'll call him later."

Zack didn't refute, though he guessed Gilbert wouldn't tell her the truth even if Jenny did call him. Obviously, Zack couldn't say it to Jenny. It was better he kept silent lest she figured out what happened.

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 568-Suspicion Jenny and Zack had lunch together before she went to meet up with Joey. She left him some kind words and advice before finally retiring to her apartment.

Dinner was spent with her colleagues. no.velxo They had several toasts to her health before their director grumbled that things wouldn't be the same once Jenny left. Their one solace was that Jenny would still come back to perform surgeries if needed.

The people enjoyed their dinner, all sad to see Jenny go but in awe of her at the same time. A skilled doctor with such a powerful background would naturally get a lot of admiration.

Near the end, Jenny slipped to the washroom to freshen up. She was slightly tipsy from all the drinks she had. When she stepped out, Jared was there waiting for her.

"Dr. Stewart." Jenny nodded.

"Are you really leaving?" the man asked,no.velxo voice thick with emotion.

Jenny nodded, not explaining further. What else was this dinner for?

Jared sighed. "Dr. Walter, I've… I've always liked you.’ Jenny stared at him in shock. If she remembered correctly, this man had said the same thing to her when she first started working at the hospital, but she had rejected him with the reason being she had just been through a divorce. Jared hadn't mentioned it since, so she had thought he'd let it go.

"I only see you as a colleague. Dr. Stewart, nothing more," Jenny said, stating her intentions clearly.

A colleague, not even a friend.

"I know." Jared smiled sadly. "That's why I'm sad to see you go. I don't know if well ever see each other again, so I thought I might as well tell you how I feel, even if I get rejected."

Jenny stayed quiet, unsure how to respond.

"Won't you even consider being with me, Dr. Walter? I can go to Bardoff City with you. I'd do anything for you," Jared said fervently. He wanted to be with Jenny even more now that he knew her background. If they were together, he'd live the rest of his life rich and in luxury. no.velxo That was why he confessed again, trying to move her heart with his charm.

Yes, charm. He was very confident in his charisma, having several admirers from the hospital itself.

Jenny cleared her throat. "No, thank you."

She didn't know Jared or his mindset very well.

Jared sighed, finally giving up even though that was one of the times he had been closest to Jenny. He didn't dare force things, knowing she could easily overpower him if he tried anything, and he might also incur the Walters' wrath.

"Alright." He nodded. Jenny relaxed her shoulders. She didn't want any connections left awry before she left for Bardoff City.

The two doctors went back into the room, where dinner was served. Jenny sat by her friends while Jared sat by his girlfriend.

Yes, girlfriend.

He had just started dating the woman, a nurse from the same department, albeit he wasn't happy about the relationship. He felt he deserved better, so he went to confess to Jenny again.

"Where did you go?" the nurse asked suspiciously.

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 569-It Doesn't Matter to Me Already in a bad mood because of Jenny's rejection, Jared grumbled, “Do I have to report everything to you? Mind your own business, will you?" "Jared Stewart!"

the nurse huffed. "I'm your girlfriend. Can't I care about your business?"

"You're my girlfriend, not my wife," Jared sneered. She wasn't fit to be his wife yet, he thought.

The woman then angrily slapped him on the cheek. "You jerk!"

She had already been annoyed with Jared for flirting with other women at their workplace, so his words now triggered her to no end. "I know you think I'm not worth your time,no.velxo so you go and try to move up the social ladder whenever you can, but have you looked at yourself? You really think the other person has eyes for you?"

With that said, her gaze briefly lingered on Jenny.

The commotion had long attracted the attention of nearly every diner. Some were amused, and some were shaking their heads in exasperation.

Couldn't the two lovebirds leave their Romeo and Juliet act behind closed doors?

Jared's expression had darkened like a storm. "Get the hell out of my sight!"

"Fine! Let's break up right here too!" the nurse screeched, then added, "I'm the one breaking up with you. no.velxo Remember that!"

"You-" How could Jared's ego tolerate being on the receiving end of a breakup?

Before he could finish his words, the nurse stormed out of the room and the restaurant. All eyes turned to Jared the moment she left.

Their department director had a stormy look on his face. He had bore witness to Jared's incessant flirting before. "I can tolerate your frivolous attitude at work, Jared Stewart, but if rumors start spreading about the hospital, I will come after you."

If that nurse caused a scene, the hospital's reputation might be damaged.

Obviously, the director wasn't going to let Jared get away with it if that happened.

Jared understood his words at once. no.velxo With an awkward smile, he said,"

Don't worry, sir. That won't happen."

With that, he stood up and left the room-partially because of embarrassment and to stop the nurse from doing anything stupid. His career was at stake if she did.

After he left, the table erupted into guffaws and laughter.

"Don't worry about that, Jenny. It's nothing to do with you," the director consoled.

Jenny smiled. "I know. It doesn't matter to me."

She didn't respect men like Jared, so naturally, she would never give him the time of day. They were colleagues, that's why she had to maintain formalities.

But now that she was leaving, she'd never have to bother with any association with him anymore.

It was 11 pm when they finished dinner. Jenny went to call for a cab, wanting nothing more than to go back and sleep off her exhaustion and drunkenness.

A Maybach came to a stop in front of her,no.velxo and Alec stepped out.

"Been drinking?"

"Mhm. A little bit." Jenny nodded.

Alec had a feeling it was more than a little bit, though he didn't point it out. He knew she would miss her colleagues. After all, she had planned to settle in the city, never expecting the Walters to come into existence in her life.

No one would have foreseen that. Not even Alec.

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 570-I Wouldn't Feel the Same Way Sleep crashed into Jenny the moment she sat back in the front passenger seat.

She drifted off almost instantly, trusting the man beside her. Alec didn't say anything throughout the ride, he only slowed his driving speed.

They soon reached home.

Just as Alec was wondering whether to carry Jenny back home or wait for her to awaken, she slowly blinked her eyes open.

"Sorry…fell asleep." she yawned. Embarrassment laced her tone. no.velxo She didn't even remember when she started sleeping.

Alec shrugged and opened the door for her. "Get some rest."

With an arm around her shoulders, Alec led Jenny inside the building.

Jenny wasn't in a rush to go back. Her father was still at her place, so they wouldn't be able to spend time with each other any further for the night if she went back.

"Can we go to your place for a bit?"no.velxo Jenny asked suddenly.

Alec took a split second to recover from his surprise before responding," Sure.” He unlocked his door, and the two stepped in.

The apartment decor had taken on a warmer, cozier tone. Jenny lounged comfortably on the couch, examining the space.

Alec brought her a glass of water, sitting down by her side. ’Something you wanna tell me before you turn in for the night?"

Jenny drank her water. "It's…nothing."

She didn't exactly know why she wanted to be here. All she knew was that she didn't want to go back so soon.

Alec grinned. "You're gonna miss me, aren't you?' Jenny blushed furiously. "No, I won't, you narcissist."

"Fine. I'm gonna miss you then.no.velxo Is that alright with you?" Alec drawled.

Jenny's blush reddened further. She avoided his gaze. "Have you gone to visit Grandpa yet?"

"Not yet. I didn't have time today. I'll do it tomorrow." He had been too preoccupied to go back to the Old Mansion. Mortimer was also still there, and he was the last person Alec wanted to see right now.

Jenny nodded. "What'll you do with Grandpa if you go to Bardoff City?"

"I'll have him stay with me in the city once things settle down. We've always lived together." Alec shrugged. If the old man didn't want to leave, he still had his staff to tend to him in the Old Mansion.

Jenny erased that worry from her mind, then asked, "You've been really busy lately, huh?' Busy plotting against the Glasses and shifting the company headquarters. Alec wasn't one to delegate these tasks to others, unlike Jenny. Instead, he put it on himself to get things done.

"Eh. I just have to remember why I'm doing it; to be closer to you. And all the stress goes away," Alec said, gazing fondly at Jenny.

Her heartbeat quickened.no.velxo 'Is it really worth it? I wouldn't feel the same way if I were you."

To Jenny, giving her all to someone and not even getting a definite answer to a relationship in response was not worth it.

"It is. I'd do anything,' Alec said. He had never questioned his actions.

Jenny gazed at him, finally asking her something to which she never found the answer. "Alec, why do you like me?
