To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 551-Seem to be Really Close Neither Jenny nor Alec spoke a word during the ride, and the atmosphere around them remain as tense as a tightrope.

"When are you going back to Parrington?" Alec finally asked, breaking the ice.

"Tomorrow.'' Alec nodded, saying nothing else.

"What about you? When will you go back?"

Alec gave it some thought. He was nearly done with his business here in Bardoff City. He could always visit Dr. Watkins to continue their sessions whenever he was free. "Tomorrow, with you,” he replied.

Jenny was surprised. Wasn't Alec busy dealing with the Glasses right now?"

Hearing that she was concerned about him made him feel much better. "I can handle them. It's not like they can do anything to stop me from going back to Parrington.’ In truth, the Glasses weren't seriously concerned by Alec's presence. Even their power plays were done just to scare Alec into stopping his plans.

They never expected him to face it head-on, though.

"Oh.J'm leaving with Graham Walter, so I can't leave with you."

Graham had already set a private plane for both of them. Best to let Alec know right now.

"That's alright. I'll be right behind you guys." Alec shrugged. He wasn't worried.

They’d see each other again in Parrington.

As the drive continued on, Alec peeked at Jenny from the corner of his eye.

"What…happened to you?"

"Oh, now you're interested?" Jenny shot back.

"Yes. If there's any way I can help, I will." Alec smiled awkwardly. It was too late now,no.velxo but he couldn't just not ask.

Jenny didn't bother sugarcoating it. "Rowena sent the assassin, most likely.

I haven't found any evidence yet, though."

"Hm." Alec nodded, not surprised either. Only Rowena and Jolene would think of hurting Jenny to that extent.

Their drive soon came to an end. Before Alec stepped out, he said, "It's not safe for you now. Let me have some of my men look out for you."

He couldn't be by her side, protecting her 24/7, yet he still worried about her, so having his bodyguards watch out for her was his best option.

Jenny smiled. "No need."

"You don't have to deal with this alone, Jenny. I know you can fight well, but there are many people in the city who could be your match. I'm sure I'll even find mine here." Alec still remembered being attacked by Graham's man. He hadn't been able to retaliate whatsoever.

Seeing how adamant he was, Jenny revealed, "James has already placed some men in my vicinity to watch out for me. They're pretty skilled, so I don't need anyone else."

Jenny had tested them herself. no.velxo Sure, none of them could defeat her singlehandedly, but as a group, they were more formidable than most. Any more unnecessary manpower spent on her would only be a waste.

Alec knew it was only natural for James to do this for Jenny, but he still worried about their relationship.

"You two…seem to be really close, huh?" he bit out.

Jenny nodded. That meant Graham didn't see Alec as a threat, nor did he dislike him. She might still be able to convince him to help take down the Glass family.

"Yeah. I've installed some managers and directors here. They'll handle things for me from here on out." Alec plated some ketchup for her.

It made sense, Jenny thought. Faust Group had way more experience than hers. Her business didn't have much staff, even though it was also called "

Group."

"That therapist you recommended to me was pretty good. I've only had two sessions, and already I'm seeing improvements." Alec thanked her.

Jenny beamed. ’Really?'"

"Mhm.” He wasn't as terrified of the dark anymore, at least.

"I'm happy to hear that. I hope you can heal from your past." Jenny was ecstatic that Alec was accepting therapy. It was a good start.

Alec nodded. He had actually been concerned about it. Dr. Watkins had told him to start controlling his compulsion to see Jenny in person. His failure to do so was likely a symptom of something.

As the two ate, they didn't notice several people taking pictures of them from a camera in the distance.

Jenny nodded, getting up too. "Yeah. I still need to get on that flight tomorrow."

Alec frowned, feeling almost hurt by her question. "You don't…trust me?"

She shook her head. "I was just teasing. I trust you, Alec. I know you wouldn't tell him. That's why I felt sorry for you."

Alec tilted his head curiously.

"If it was me, I'd instantly tell my close friends," Jenny continued. Friends were very important to her.no.velxo She didn't tolerate lying or hiding things in a friendship. "But, I trust my friends not to tell anyone else."

Alec sighed. "I'm still hurt, Jenny. Are your friends more important to you than I am?"

Jenny giggled. "You're just my friend right now, too."

"Huh. Guess I'll have to work harder,’ Alec chuckled after a moment's pause.

He soon sent her back to Walter Castle, then left for the office, ready to tackle more work. He hadn't made any preparations for returning to Parrington tomorrow-it had been impromptu, after all. But he didn't feel safe seeing Jenny go back alone. He knew how Paul could be when angered.

Anything could happen. That was why Alec needed to go back and check up on things.

The next day, Jenny woke up early as always, ready for her flight back. When she went downstairs, Graham was already having breakfast in the dining room.

What surprised her was that Rowena and Jolene were at the table too.

But Jenny wasn't falling for it. 'No. That hasn't been my focus lately.’ "Then do you already have a prospect? Remember to tell your father and I so we can watch out for you. no.velxo You must've learned your lesson from being divorced once, no?’ Rowena continued.

Jenny rolled her eyes. "I don't need you to watch out for me. Why don't you stop digging your nose in other people's business and worry about your daughter instead?"

"You know James Windsor, right? I've seen his work. He's a good man and comes from a family of the same standing. What do you think about him?"

Graham asked. He hoped Jenny would have a happy marriage and not be tricked by Alec Faust again.

"You don't need to worry about me.no.velxo I know what I'm doing." Jenny shrugged. James was like a brother to her. She could never imagine marrying him.

Graham didn't stop. "I know you dont like when I worry about you, but I'm your father, and this is about marriage-one of the most important things in your life.

How could I not worry?” He had never stopped regretting seeing Jenny marry Alec, so now that she had come home, he was determined to find a better man for his daughter.

Jenny frowned once again. "What are you trying to say?" She wasn't an idiot.

Something must've happened to have these three people be so nosy about her.

After a long pause, Graham caved in. "You and Alec aren't good for each other, so I hope you don't continue seeing him."

Jenny suddenly understood what was going on.

"You're biologically my father, but that doesn't give you the right to meddle in my personal affairs," she said sharply.

Graham's face turned cold, no.velxo feeling slightly hurt by his daughter's words.

"How could you talk to your father like that, Jenny? He's only saying it for your own good,-" Rowena huffed on Graham's behalf.

Jenny snapped back, "What are you doing shoving your nose in my business with my father? Stay put, will you?"

Before Rowena could say anything else, Graham shot her a glare, shutting her up.

"I know you're upset with me, Jenny, but you cant mess around with serious things like this. You and Alec already proved your incompatibility by the divorce, so why get involved with each other again? He's not the only bachelor out there."

Jenny put down her silverware, officially losing her appetite. "You're overthinking. Alec and I arent together at all. I'm upset because you're crossing my boundaries and invading my personal affairs. Even if we end up together, that's a choice I make that no one can interfere with."

Not even her father.

With that, she left the estate.

Graham could only blink, still reeling from what had just happened. He really didn't know what to do now. Just a couple of suggestions had set Jenny off like that. It was not like he was really stopping her from meeting Alec,no.velxo nor did he say he wasn't going to Parrington with her.

He sighed internally, "Like mother like daughter."

"Why are you so nice to Jenny, Dad? She's so rude to you! I've never treated you like that, and you're not even that nice to me!" Jolene whined.

Graham glanced at her. "Really? What have I not given you since you were a kid, hm?"

"That's not the same thing!* Jolene bit her lip, fussing, ’You've never cared this much about me since I was a kid. I don't think you've ever treated me as your daughter."

Jolene had never thought anything strange of it, but only when Jenny appeared in their lives did she realize it wasn't that the man didn't know how to be a proper father but that he didn't want to be one to her.

"Nonsense!" Graham barked, getting up from the table.

Jolene burst into tears. "Nonsense? Ever since Jenny showed up, you've brought her to all these fancy events and given her all those nice gifts, like that jewelry. When have you given me jewelry?"

She had been hurting from these double standards for a while now.

Graham's scalp prickled as Jolene sobbed.no.velxo "It's just a piece of jewelry.

You already have so many. Why don't you get your mother to get one for you?"

"It's not the same! I want one from you!" Jolene insisted. It made all the difference!

"Alright, fine. I'll pick one for you soon,’ Graham replied. It was his fault in the first place, though he had only given Jenny the jewelry because he thought it might look more appropriate for the event.

He didn't think Jolene needed something else to add to her collection, so her outburst was quite a surprise. no.velxo Graham wasn't fond of Rowena, but Jolene was his daughter, and he did have some love for her.

Jolene beamed instantly. "Promise? No take-backsies!’ "When have I ever backed out?" Graham murmured and left the room. After all, he had to keep his word to go to Parrington with Jenny.

After the man left, Jolene wiped her eyes, giggling, ’At least I got the last word."

Rowena smiled. "I've told you so many times to do that in front of your father, but you never wanted to. See how effective it is?"

"Well, I didn't know I wasn't his only child then. I thought I'd inherit everything from him, but that's not the case anymore."

She couldn't tolerate her inheritance being split up for Jenny, so from now on, she'd do whatever it took to claim everything Graham owned.

"Okay." Jenny ended the call. She then browsed through the news on her phone, suddenly noticing news about her.

No wonder Graham said all those things this morning. Some people had taken photos of her and Alec having supper last night.no.velxo The article was outrageously rude, too, insinuating Alec was some boy toy she had on the side.

It looked like the reporters didn't do their homework before publishing the news.

Jenny sent the news link to Alec, asking him if he had seen it already. Alec soon told her that he had and had already sent his people to take care of things. But Jenny asked him to stop, to let the news circulate and spiral out of control, much to Alec's confusion.

"I'll set the lawyers on them when things boil over. A day or two in court will teach them a lesson and get them off my back." She wasn't going to sit around and be played with. It was annoying enough when they snooped on her and James, but now it was Alec's turn. Were they seriously going to do that with every guy she went out with now?

Knowing the paparazzi had successfully no.velxo incurred Jenny's wrath, he had his company's legal team start collecting evidence against them. If things escalated, he'd sue those reporters too.

The two then boarded their respective flights.

What they never expected was that they happened to board the same flight.

Alec's seat was right in front of Jenny's, so she noticed him immediately upon sitting down, and they shared a surprised glance.

Alec then came to sit beside her. "What a coincidence."

Jenny said nothing else, leaning back in her seat. Sitting together wasn't a big issue as long as there weren't any paparazzi on the flight.

The plane soon took off. Jenny shut her eyes and rested while Alec sat beside her, still giddy. He knew Jenny was upset and didn't want to talk right now, so he quietly stayed by her side, no.velxo not asking her anything though he was incredibly curious about her situation.

After some time, Jenny asked, "Aren't you curious about what happened between Graham and me?"

Jenny sighed. He was right. She had wanted nothing more than to be left alone in a quiet space since boarding the plane. But her mood had lightened after some peace and quiet. "It's nothing, really. I think he saw the news about us, that's all."

"He doesn't want you involved with me, does he?" Alec could easily guess what had transpired between the father and daughter.

Jenny huffed. “Who does he think he is, really? What right does he have to control what I do or who I see?"

Biological father or not, she didn't want to be restrained by him.

"I trust he means well, even if it doesn’t seem like it. You don't need to pit him against you that much/ Alec advised. He knew that, as much as Jenny was against Graham trying to control her,no.velxo she still cared about his thoughts.

Alec knew Graham disapproved of him being with Jenny because of their prior divorce. It had established the impression that Alec was unreliable and untrustworthy. Besides, Jenny was recognized by the Walters as their own now.

Graham sighed. Now he even had to appease his daughter's temper because he couldn't bear the thought of Jenny not visiting their home in Bardoff City anymore.

Alec and Jenny made their way out of Parrington Airport. Back in his territory, Alec had arranged for them to be picked up outside.

"Yeah. That'd be best.' Jenny nodded. As worried about Stephanie as she was, she couldn't make any sudden moves lest Paul overreacted. It might get harder to rescue Stephanie if that happened. no.velxo Plus, she hadn't settled her resignation at the hospital yet.

They soon reached Perry Residence. Jenny stepped out and turned to ask Alec, 'Aren't you gonna rest up first?"

"Nah. I still need to look at things at the office. I'll pick you up for dinner later."

Alec couldn't rest now that they were going to move Faust Group headquarters to Bardoff City. They had deep roots here in Parrington that needed careful unraveling.

Jenny knew about it, too, and was concerned about him. "You really don't have to do this, you know. Parrington isn't so bad, really.' Graham shook his head. "It's okay. I'll stay here with you. Your father has been through a lot, you know." He had lived in worse places than this.

The man dragged his luggage into Jenny's apartment, noticing how cozy and clean the place was. He could immediately tell how much she dedicated to her space and living comfortably. Tough as she tried to make herself seem, her home still reflected her tender heart.

Jenny had him stay in the guest room. After setting his things down, Graham went back out into the living room where Jenny was. ’Why don't we go out for a spin? You can show me around. Let me see how you've been living all these years."

"I only came here after Grandpa passed away. I grew up in Orchid Village, remember?" Jenny reminded him.

Graham winced in embarrassment. "Right…how could I forget that?

"Can we…go to Orchid Village instead? I…I want to pay your Grandpa a visit too." If it weren't for him, Graham wasn't sure if Jenny would still be alive today.

"In a couple days, sure. I need to settle some things at the hospital first." Jenny didn't know when the next time she'd be back in Parrington would be once she left for Bardoff City.

"Okay." Graham nodded. "Do you still want to practice as a doctor in the city?
