Ch. 541..550

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 541-I'm Done For Jenny was sent flying and landing hard on the ground from a kick. She slumped onto the ground and struggled to get up. The man was serious about taking her life from how mercilessly he attacked her. She was filled with despair when she realized that she was too weak for him. At the same time, she was riddled with regret. In the past, she had always thought she was skilled in martial arts. When she finally stepped into the real world, the huge number of martial arts talents opened her eyes to her inadequacy.

The man stood in front of her in no time. no.velxo She knelt on the ground as she winced from the pain in her stomach-it was so bad that she could not stand up.

"How much did they pay you? I'll double that amount," she offered, holding on to the last sliver of hope even though her words might not work on him.

Just as she had expected, the man was unaffected by her words. He took out a dagger and lurched at her. Fully prepared, she stumbled backward to dodge his attack, but that didn't stop him. Instead, he doubled down. Soon, her back was filled with injuries from the cuts of the dagger.

At that critical moment, the pain was the least of her concern. She knew that she might die if she didn't escape. She had given up on the phone call, as she did not know who she had called or whether she had even made the call.

Unfortunately, she was no match for the man and was cornered because she was badly injured.

Soon, she was defeated and lay on the ground, failing to get up. She watched as the man came up to her, knelt on the ground, and raised the dagger in his hand. She closed her eyes indignantly as she reached the end of her wits. She had never expected to meet her end in this manner.

When the man plunged the dagger decisively toward her neck, no.velxo someone showed up on his right without warning and kicked him aside.

"Jenny!" James’ eyes wavered, and his heart ached when he saw her covered in blood. His face was the last thing she saw before she fainted. A smile appeared on her lips when she saw someone coming to her rescue. After that, she lost consciousness and blacked out.

Meanwhile, Alec was occupied with company work. The Faust Group was in grave crisis because of the actions of the Glass family. When he was pouring over the documents, he felt a pang of pain in his heart as if he was stabbed. He frowned in confusion as worries arose. He had a bad hunch but could not predict what was coming.

Jenny was the only person who worried him.

At the thought of Jenny, he called her, but she never picked up. On his second attempt, he found that her phone was switched off, which made him worry.

Vincent entered his office at that moment. "Mr. Faust, the meeting will start soon. You may head over now."

Alec sat still,no.velxo overcome by worries. "Look into her whereabouts."

"Are you referring to Miss Walter?" Vincent asked and added, "The Walter family has got her back. I think she'll be fine. Right?"

Alec knew that as well, but he couldn't contain his worries. He stood up, intending to look for Jenny but was stopped by Vincent.

Vincent looked serious. "Mr. Faust, the meeting today is very important. You should know the company's situation right now."

As a mere assistant, he had no authority to stop Alec. However, the Faust Group had been deep in trouble lately, and Alec had to carefully consider each move. Therefore, Vincent could not sit back and do nothing.

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 542-The Worst Injury She's Ever Sustained Alec stared at Vincent. The company was not his priority at the moment when he badly wanted to look for Jenny. However, he knew that the gap between him and Jenny would only widen if Faust Group collapsed, and he might even lose the opportunity to get to her. After some consideration, he sighed and relented.

"Send someone to locate her right away."

"Sure. Don't worry. I'll send someone to look into that.’ Vincent nodded in relief, feeling thankful that the CEO had not lost his mind.

After Alec went for the meeting, Vincent arranged for someone to look into Jenny's whereabouts. At that time, none of them knew that Jenny had been hospitalized.

The sky was dark when Jenny regained consciousness. She stared at the ceiling for a long time before she recalled the events before she fainted. Smiling wryly, she thought this was the worst injury she had ever sustained and perhaps served as a good lesson. Bardoff City was no Parrington-she had to be extra careful with each step she took. She considered getting two bodyguards for herself, or she might perish the next time she encountered a similar crisis.

She grabbed her phone from the headboard and realized it was out of battery.

While she was worrying, James entered the room.

"Jenny, you're up!" He looked glad. "Are you hurting anywhere?"

She shook her head and cast a grateful look at him. "James, I have to thank you today. I might have died if you hadn't shown up on time."

"Don’t mention it. I felt bad for arriving too late." Had he arrived earlier, she wouldn't have suffered such grave injuries. Still, he was relieved after seeing that she was in great spirits."Who'd do this to you when you have just moved to Bardoff City?"

She chuckled. "Who else? There's no one else except for Rowena and Jolene."

He put on a grim expression and scoffed. "I will not go easy on them-the audacity to hurt you!"

"It's fine, James. I can handle them." She turned down his offer to help because this was a family issue. Moreover, she had to take into account Graham's best interests, for Rowena was his wife, and Jolene, his daughter. She didn't want to make a fuss.

"Jenny…"

She shook her head and insisted, "James, I can handle it. Trust me. I was unprepared today because I didn't expect them to make a move this fast. That's how they almost got me."

"Alright. I won't say more if you insist." He gave up in front of her but secretly developed a grudge against Rowena and Jolene. He added, "You can stop me from avenging you, but you can't say no to this." She looked at him, puzzled, and he explained, "I got you a few bodyguards. They will stay by your side so that we won't see a repeat of the incident today."

Stunned, she marveled at James' thoughtfulness. Just when she was mulling over the issue of bodyguards, he had made the arrangements for her.

"If you turn down my offer, I will have no choice but to get rid of Rowena and Jolene," he jokingly threatened when he mistook her silence as an objection.

The Glass family was hard to deal with, but he had confidence in taking down Rowena and Jolene. In the worst-case scenario, he might turn the Glass family against him, but he was unbothered by the consequences.

She shook her head, feeling speechless. "James, I wasn't rejecting your offer. I totally welcome the layer of security."

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 543-I Owe You One James let out a relieved sigh after she agreed to have bodyguards. The men he hired were extraordinary, and they would protect her well.

"Are you hungry?" he asked. "I can get someone to buy food for you." It was surreal to him how they had agreed to meet at a restaurant, but things took a wild turn after that.

She nodded, feeling hungry. He asked someone to buy some food for her, and she put in an additional request for a phone charger as well. It was inconvenient to have a phone run out of battery,no.velxo and she worried about her contacts who couldn't reach her.

Not long after, she got her food and phone charger delivered. She charged her phone before digging in. James stayed around, which was awkward for her.

"James, why don't you go home and rest? It's pretty late."

"It's alright. I'll hang around until you're done eating." He had planned to spend the night by her bed, but he knew that Jenny would be puzzled or even shocked if he volunteered to do that.

Jenny didn't say another word because she didn't want to sound like she was chasing him out.

When her phone restarted, she reached out to take it. James suddenly blurted out, "Jenny, I haven't told you this."

She paused and withdrew her hand. no.velxo Staring at him, she asked, "What?"

"I brought you to the hospital in my arms when you fainted," he explained.

Still confused, she asked, "So what? I won't blame you for doing that." She was grateful for his help and couldn't care less about how he transported her to the hospital.

"Well, it wasn't a big deal at first, but the paparazzi took photos of us. Our photos are probably circulating online along with some gossip," he mumbled while avoiding eye contact. He could have suppressed the news as it broke out, but he sat back and allowed it to go viral, mostly because he was curious about her reaction to the scandal.

The news shocked Jenny, but she waved her hand and dismissed the matter quickly. "It's not a big deal. Just ignore them. no.velxo They'll forget about it after a few days."

As an ex-subject of online abuse, she didn't care much about the online chatter.

Given a few days, the discussion would die down.

James was relieved when she didn't show any aversion to being associated with him. "Yeah, I thought so too. They'd go crazy with their speculations if I take down the news.” "Right." She nodded while eating dinner with the phone in her hand. When she touched the screen, she immediately saw a couple of missed calls but didn't call back because James was present. Instead, she decided to check out the news online.

Just like James had described, the netizens described her as his girlfriend and came up with all sorts of stories, but none seemed to notice that she was unconscious in the photos. Although her blood-stained shirt was out of sight, thanks to James' jacket draping over her, she believed that anyone could tell from a closer look that she had fainted. The netizens indeed thrived on gossip and could not discern the truth.

She was done eating at the same time she switched off her phone. After she cleaned up, she beamed at him. "James, I promised to treat you to dinner tonight, but we got into this situation instead. Again, I owe you one."

"Don't sweat it. You'll have the chance to return the favor. What you should do now is get well soon." He smiled with a tinge of disappointment but was glad to have noticed she was in danger. He couldn't imagine what would have happened to her otherwise.

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 544-Am I Prejudiced?

Despite wanting to stay, James left Jenny's room out of consideration of her injuries and recovery. After he left, she finally returned the missed calls on her phone. First on her list was Jade, followed by Graham. She informed them that her phone had died but did not bring up the topic of her injuries. She hid the truth from Jade because Jade would be worried, and she didn't tell Graham because nothing would come out of it.

At this moment, she had no evidence pointing to Rowena and Jolene. If she blindly accused the two in front of Graham, he might think she was up to no good just to bring them down.

She needed sufficient evidence to show Graham the true face of Rowena and Jolene, for she wanted him to deal with them with his own hands. That was the main reason she refused James' help. Only by showing Graham the true colors of his wife and daughter would he be disappointed in them.

After responding to all the missed calls, no.velxo she finally got to Alec. She was kept waiting for a long time before he picked up.

"Were you looking for me?" she asked, wondering if he had seen the gossip online.

On the other end, Alec was staring at the news about Jenny and James on his computer. His eyes pierced through the photos with a profound look in his eyes.

"Yeah. Why was your phone turned off?" he asked, holding back the anger inside him.

After some consideration, she decided not to tell him about the attack. He'd be worried if he learned about it, and there was no guarantee that he wouldn't go up against Rowena and Jolene.

She made up an excuse instead and changed the topic of the conversation.

"Why did you look for me?"

"Nothing much," he replied.

"Okay."

There was a short silence between them as they tiptoed around their words.

Noticing the awkward shift in the air, she blurted out, "Have you seen the news online?"

"Mm," he grunted. no.velxo He knew that he should trust Jenny. Moreover, since they weren't dating anymore, he didn't have the right to grill her over her private life.

"The netizens are making things up. He's my senior from school, and you knew it too," she clarified.

Of course, Alec knew James' relation to Jenny, but that only upset him more. He could tell that James was interested in her, and the two were growing uncomfortably close to each other by the day. Moreover, James was part of the Windsor family, making him the perfect partner for Jenny with his social status.

In the past, Alec had scoffed at the concept of a good match in relationships, but he finally had a taste of inferiority when he fell victim to it.

Jenny was rather unhappy at his silence. "Did you really think that I'm involved with him?" She was overcome with an unexplainable disappointment. She hadn't planned to pick a fight with Alec for not noticing that she had fainted in the photos-she even wanted to explain the situation to him. To her dismay, he suspected that she was involved with James.

"I trust you, but I don't trust him," Alec muttered.

A little furious, Jenny chuckled loudly at his answer.no.velxo "Alec Faust, you should not judge others with prejudice. There's nothing between James and meyou're overthinking.’ "Am I prejudiced?" Now, Alec was unhappy as well. He definitely didn't overthink when he suggested the obvious fact of James being interested in Jenny. He fully trusted his intuition when he examined James' behavior from a man's perspective, which was usually accurate.

"Aren't you?" Jenny was angry and amused at the same time. "You've been staring at that photo for a while. Did you notice that I had lost consciousness in the photo? I thought you would trust me even if you overlooked that detail that would've shown you I was attacked. Looking back, perhaps I was too trusting of you."

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 545-I'm Sorry Doesn't Always Work Alec was dumbfounded after hearing what Jenny had to say. He zoomed into the photo and realized that Jenny was indeed unconscious. Upon closer look, he saw traces of blood stains on her body.

"Something happened to her," he thought as he was riddled with guilt for interrogating her about James instead of noticing her injuries. Even after Jenny had chided him, he still felt horrible about his behavior.

"What am I doing? How could I have missed that obvious fact?" he silently scolded himself.

"I'm sorry," he blurted out after a pause, not because he was reluctant to apologize. He hesitated because he knew the apology could not compensate for the hurt he had inflicted on Jenny.

Just as he expected, Jenny was calm and composed when she heard the apology, and she even thought he was hilarious. Laughing, she said to him," I'm sorry doesn't always work, you know."

"I know." He couldn't think of a better way to express his regrets anyway." Are you…okay?" He wanted to ask her about the incident she was involved in, but he understood that his question had arrived too late. Jenny replying to his missed call meant that the problem was resolved.

"I guess I'm okay since I'm still alive." She was a little exhausted and refused to engage him further. "It's late. I need to rest."

"Sure." He didn't protest. He knew that she was angry at him, but he couldn't find a way to cheer her up. He had become slow-not only did he fail to notice that she was in danger, but he also couldn't even think of a way to beg for her forgiveness. His mind went blank as he fell into a stupor.

After hanging up, he realized that he was in a bad mental condition. no.velxo He found the contact number of the psychologist that Jenny recommended to him, and he finally made the call.

Perhaps, he should stop running from his problems.

Meanwhile, Jenny didn't fall asleep right after the call. Instead, she was ruminating in anger and disappointment at Alec. He had never behaved in that way in the past, but why was he acting differently now?

Suddenly, she seemed to have gained an understanding of his situation.

no.velxo He must be in a terrible mental state. Judging from his out-of-line actions, he might even have gone ahead to contact the psychologist she recommended to him.

Sighing, she told herself not to get angry at Alec as he was not in a rational state of mind.

The next day, James delivered breakfast to Jenny early in the morning. Although she was touched by his care, she wanted to avoid any misunderstanding and suggested, "James, you don't have to deliver the food in person because you're busy. I can ask the nurse to buy food for me."

"I'm worried that the hospital food is not to your taste." He ignored her suggestion and handed her the unwrapped breakfast. She took the food and asked him, "James, aren’t you busy? The Windsors are a wealthy family. You must be busy dealing with the family business."

"It's not too bad. Everything's going smoothly.no.velxo There are no fires for me to put out." Compared to the other elite families, the Windsors were relatively stable internally. There was nothing that James had to worry about, which explained the ample free time he had to make hospital visits. Still, he picked up the hint from her tone. "Would you rather not see me around? Am I being a bother?"

"No, that's not the case! How could I think of you like that?" She hurriedly waved at him. She'd be a horrible person if she complained that he was bothersome after all he had done for her. She secretly admonished herself for being irrational.

How could she even think of cutting off ties with James, her senior, just because of Alec's jealousy?

That would be out of her character, and she would hate herself for doing so. She and Alec were independent adults who should lead separate lives instead of clinging to each other.

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 546-You Must Be Worried That I Wasn't Dead During her few days’ stay at the hospital, Graham called her a few times, mostly asking her why she didn't come home. She made up some excuse, and he didn't press further.

"I plan to go to Parrington tomorrow. Do you have time to come with me?" she asked. She had wrapped up work at Bardoff City, and it was time to get to the matters awaiting her attention in Parrington.

Graham paused while he checked his schedule with his assistant. Soon, he answered, "Sure, but I cant stay for long. There's a lot of work in the company."

"Okay. It won’t be a long trip-probably three to four days,* she assured him.

Once they agreed on the trip, he went ahead and arranged for a private jet.

Traveling in a private jet was a necessity for a man in his position, who had to be careful in each step he took. It was all for safety.

When Jenny returned to Walter Castle, she ran into Rowena and Jolene, who wore guilty expressions on their faces. Despite their good acting, Jenny could instantly tell that they were culpable.

Unfortunately, James failed to arrest the martial arts expert in disguise who plotted to murder Jenny. After James showed up to the rescue, the man knew his plan was foiled and quickly escaped.

He stood no chance of going after the martial arts expert, not to mention that he had to take care of Jenny, who had fainted. Without getting hold of the man, Jenny had no evidence pointing to Rowena and Jolene, even if she knew they were the masterminds.

However, that didn't mean she'd give up. Knowing that Rowena and Jolene were backed by the Glass family, Jenny decided to tackle their backers for now.

She wasn't capable of taking down the influential family, but it was easy to cause them some trouble. At the very least, she could keep the Glass family occupied to distract them from making a move on her or Alec.

"Alec Faust. Why am I thinking of him again?’ she thought. Ever since he apologized to her, he hadn’t shown up in front of her, contrary to her expectation. Days went by without contact, but she didn't reach out to him, thinking he'd initiate contact if he wanted. It'd be meaningless to reach out when he refused to get in touch.

She collected herself and focused on Rowena and Jolene. "Hi there, good afternoon."

They ignored her greeting and stayed tense in front of her.

"Don't worry. I won't lay a finger on you. We're in Walter Castle, after all. Even if I plan to make a move, I will do it in secret." She flashed them an unnerving smile.

Rowena held back Jolene, who was ready to charge at Jenny, and said," Jenny, what do you mean? You didn't come home for days. Your sister and I are worried about you."

"You're worried for me?’ Jenny sneered as if she had heard a ridiculous joke.

"You must be worried that I wasn’t dead!"

Rowena chuckled dryly, feigning ignorance. "What makes you think so?

Your sister and I are concerned about your safety! You're family. Why would we want you to be in danger?" She added, "Look, Jenny, I know you hold a grudge against me, and I don't blame you for that. But you cannot make things up and give your dad a headache. He's a busy man, and I'm sure you don't want to give him trouble. Am I right?"

Rowena knew that any word from Jenny's lips might raise Graham's suspicion even if there was no proof. Therefore, she'd only feel assured if Jenny kept quiet in front of Graham.

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 547-I'll Kill You Jenny did not retort. Instead, she smiled at Rowena. "You're right. Rowena, you should be more careful. Don't get caught red-handed."

Rowena smiled at her without saying a word.no.velxo Not only would she proceed with more caution, but she'd also send more men after Jenny the next time so that she couldn't escape. However, she was unsure about the timing of her next opportunity.

Jenny refused to waste time on them. "Dad and I will head back to Parrington tomorrow. Rowena, do help with the packing." The intention behind the reminder was less of packing the luggage and more of provoking her. The fact that Graham had agreed to visit Parrington proved that Jenny was important to him, which was Rowena's greatest fear.

As predicted, Rowena's expression fell when she heard the news. "Why is he going to Parrington? Don't you know that he's busy? Jenny, you need to grow up and stop giving him trouble."

"I don't want to trouble him, but he insisted on going with me." Jenny beamed smugly and cheerfully.

Her behavior enraged Rowena. " Oh, is that so? Looks like your dad really loves you!"

"Yeah. He probably felt sorry about my mom." Jenny smiled and said harsh words in front of Rowena.

"What good comes from feeling sorry? The woman is a pile of ashes by now.’ Rowena was proud to be the last one standing, a victory she claimed over that bitch.

Jenny wasn't furious at Rowena's words.no.velxo With a gentle smile, she said coolly, "It doesn't matter if you're alive or dead. Most importantly, you need to be remembered. As long as you're remembered fondly, you will not be gone, unlike someone who thinks she's the winner but has, in fact, lost the game."

Rowena, who had managed to hold back her emotions, finally lost her cool. She stomped over to Jenny and glared at her. "Did I lose? That bitch was the loser!

Bitches will always be bitches-even their daughters are the same!" she bellowed.

Without hesitation, Jenny gave her a slap across the face. "Watch your language."

Rowena stared at Jenny in shock and thought, "How dare she slap me?"

Jolene was faster to respond to Jenny. "You bitch! How dare you slap my mom?

I'll kill you!” Then, she charged at Jenny, her judgment clouded by anger-she seemed to have forgotten about Jenny's superior combat skills and was instantly subdued by her. Once again, she experienced the horrifying feeling of suffocation, except that Jenny was choking her this time instead of Alec.

She struggled with all her might because she refused to go through another near-death situation. "Mom, save me!" she yelled at Rowena in fear. Rowena snapped out of her anger and rushed over to Jenny. "Let go of her! Jo's your sister! What are you doing to her?"

"What am I doing to her? You never considered me as your sister when you plotted against me." Instead of letting go, Jenny tightened her hold on Jolene's neck.

Jolene was likely traumatized by her encounter with Alec the last time, and tears were streaming down her face. "Jenny, I was wrong. Please forgive me."

"Do you know you're in the wrong now?’ Jenny questioned.

Jolene nodded furiously. "I admit I was in the wrong. I won't do that to you anymore."

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 548-We're Sisters Finally, Jenny let go of Jolene, but it wasn't because she trusted her words. She had heard the noise of a car from the door and guessed that Graham was home.

When he stepped foot in the living room, he instantly noticed something was wrong. He scanned the three faces, his gaze settling on Jenny's. ’What happened?"

She shook her head at him with a smile. "Nothing."

The fight just now was nothing to Jenny,no.velxo but Jolene felt differently about it. She stood up and ran over to Graham as she planned to reveal everything that Jenny had done to her. She needed to show Graham Jenny's merciless nature.

However, Rowena held her daughter back and shook her head. "Nothing happened. We were chatting with Jenny, and she mentioned that you'd go to Parrington with her tomorrow."

Graham frowned as he knew something must have happened among the three women. Since Jenny assured him everything was fine and Rowena was tightlipped about it, he didn't press further. Jolene didn't look like she was picked on anyway.

"Yeah. That's Jenny's hometown, after all. It's time I pay a visit." He nodded.

Rowena forced a smile. "Sounds right. I'll have the maids pack your luggage.

You should take a rest."

"Okay." He was exhausted after a long day and went up to the study after a brief chat with Jenny.

Once he left, Jolene immediately broke down. "Mom, why did you stop me from telling him?" As there was a surveillance camera in the living room, once she told on Jenny and showed the footage as evidence, she could prove Jenny’s unbecoming behavior from earlier.

Rowena felt sorry for her daughter. "Your dad clearly favors her now. There's no use telling him the truth. He might even think you're sowing discord."

Judging from Graham's concern for Jenny, no.velxo he might get to the bottom of the planned attack if he launched an investigation. Rowena wouldn't want to see that.

"But…" Jolene was aggrieved, feeling that life had been difficult ever since Jenny joined the family. A lot of her possessions were taken away, from her father to the title of the Walter family’s only daughter. Not only that, she had to live under threat every day. She wondered how long this would last.

"My dear sister, your mom's right. We’re sisters. You shouldn't sow discord in front of Dad." Jenny flashed an annoying smile at her. Jolene wanted to beat Jenny up but knew she was no match for her. Hence, she could only grit her teeth resentfully.

Jenny couldn't be bothered about Jolene's resentment-the hateful glares would not affect her in any way. Seeing that Jolene wasn't going to try anything, Jenny finally retired to her room.

Meanwhile, Alec woke up refreshed at the psychologist's clinic. He enjoyed excellent sleep, an incredibly rare occurrence in his life.

When he opened his eyes, he immediately saw an alluring woman standing in front of him. She asked, "How do you feel today?"

"Pretty peachy," he answered truthfully. The woman was Blake Watkins, the psychologist Jenny introduced to him. Alec had no idea the psychologist was a woman when he first called. He attended the first session without any expectations, but the outcome surprised him.

He felt enveloped by peace, a far cry from his impatient mind from before.

Even though he wasn't fully cured, he acknowledged the psychologist's expertise, which prompted him to attend a second session.

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 549-You Need to Learn to Control Your Emotions "When can I fully recover?" That was Alec's main concern because he wanted to meet with Jenny.

Blake probably read his mind and sat across from him with a smile. "The first thing you need to do is to learn self-control. You mentioned that you couldn't stop yourself from wanting to keep Jenny by your side and that you couldn't stand the sight of men around her. These are symptoms of a mental health disorder. Your mental health issue did not surface over a few days. They are the culmination of poor mental health over the years. A fast recovery is rather impossible."

Alec frowned upon hearing her professional opinion. no.velxo He knew his condition was severe, but he wanted the answer to another pressing question."

Based on what you said just now, I can't meet Jenny before I fully recover. Is that right?" He would rather give up on the treatment if that were the case. The reason he attended therapy in the first place was so that he could be with Jenny. If he was forced to give up on meeting her because of it, it'd be against his goal.

Blake shook her head and explained, "If you want to meet her, you can go ahead. My advice is not to meet with her too frequently. That won't help with your treatment. Right now, you need to learn to control your emotions. You cannot be a slave to it. If you succeed, I'd consider that a recovery."

Once he received a green light from Blake to meet with Jenny, he beamed and ignored the rest of her advice. Standing up, he was ready to leave. He needed to meet Jenny-he couldn't wait anymore.

Blake was speechless at his behavior. "Haven't I told you to control yourself?

Why do I feel like you utterly lack self-control?"

"I think you need to focus on getting to the roots of my fear of the dark, not the other issues." Alec believed that the root of all his mental health issues was that his mother had passed away before his eyes,no.velxo contributing to his longtime fear of the dark. He didn't think that Jenny played a role in it at all.

"Yes. Your fear of the dark is the root of all problems. You can only face the dark once we untangle your emotions." She didn't deny his claim. As a psychologist, she was well aware of the reason behind his emotional turmoil. However, the situation had grown complex, and she couldn't solve his mental health issues just by addressing his childhood trauma.

Alec didn't plan to discuss more as he walked to the door. "Your treatment is very effective. My assistant will transfer the payment to you."

With that, he left the clinic. Blake didn't stop him. She merely stared at him with questions in her head. She wondered about the identity of the woman with whom Alec was deeply in love. There was another possibility, though- Alec could have just been a special case.

Alec wasn't interested in Blake's opinions about him.no.velxo After exiting the clinic, he drove to Walter Castle and parked his car there. Then, he called Jenny and waited for a while before she picked up. He almost thought she'd ignore his call.

"Jenny," he called out to her once the call was connected.

Jenny experienced an odd feeling upon hearing his voice. "It's late. What's the matter?"

In the past few days, Alec had not once visited her at the hospital or called her after learning she was injured in an incident. She was disappointed in him, and her frustration was reflected in her tone.

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 550-Don't You Think It's Too Late?

Alec had wanted to say more, but the passion in his heart quickly dissipated upon hearing how cold Jenny was to him. Still, he didn't hang up immediately.

’How have you been?" he asked.

"Don’t you think it's too late to ask me that, Alec?" no.velxo Jenny huffed. Alec's behavior confused her. It had been days without hearing from him.

Alec knew he was at fault. He had planned to meet with Jenny that day after their call. He never expected Dr. Watkins to tell him not to see her, for him to learn to control himself. Which was why he never went to her. But that didn't mean he didn't care about her. He had still gone to the hospital to check on her, only leaving after seeing that she was okay.

On the other end of the call, Jenny was getting even more upset now that he had gone silent. "What? Cat got your tongue? When did you learn how to keep your mouth shut?"

"I'm sorry," Alec said solemnly. "I've been preoccupied with some business.

That's why I didn't come to see you."

"Oh." Preoccupied couldn't cut it. He should've at least called her to check up on her, granted he was busy dealing with the Glass family.

"I'm right outside Walter Castle. Do you…want to come out for a bit?" Alec asked gingerly.

As much as Jenny wanted to refuse, she couldn't. no.velxo She had been worried about him these past few days, especially knowing now that the Glass family had turned their scopes on him.

Just as Alec was about to lose hope, Jenny said, "Alright. I'll be right down."

The call ended, leaving him to stare incredulously at it. "What did Jenny say?

She'd be right down? I didn't hear her wrong, right?" he thought.

A minute later, Jenny appeared by the front gate. She stormed over to Alec, who was still blanking out.

Okay, so he did hear her right. "Thank you for coming out to see me, Jenny."

"Don't try to change my mind. I'm not forgiving you that easily." Jenny was still upset.

"I know. It's my fault." Alec hung his head disparagingly. "I'm sorry."

Now Jenny really didn't know what to say. She swallowed what she would have said had she still been fuming and sighed. "Is that all you called me out here for?"

"Yeah. And to see you. I'm glad to see that you're okay.' Idiot, Jenny thought. "Aren't you even gonna take me out for supper?

Alec froze momentarily before a smile painted his face. "Of course, of course, I will.' He went to open his car door for Jenny. "My treat."

After the two left, a figure walked out from behind the front gate. It was Jolene.

"What a whore. Mr. Windsor in one palm and her ex-husband in the other,’ she sneered. "I need to let Mr. Windsor know about this immediately."
