To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 531-Unfamiliar With Her The two were talking and didn’t notice that Jolene was still there.

Jolene couldn't believe it. Jenny, who came from the countryside, knew James?

And why did they seem so close?

Jolene suddenly realized she didn't know a thing about Jenny, which scared her.

"Do you know Mr. Windsor, sister?" Jolene approached them with a smile.

Although both families were from the top ten families in Bardoff City, the Windsor family was considered more prominent, and Jolene saw them as a good choice for in-laws. However, James had always been indifferent toward her, ignoring her whenever they met at dinner parties. Only Brandon would follow her around.

Jenny nodded and smiled. "Yes."

"What a coincidence! Mr. Windsor and I know each other too," Jolene said, but her eyes were fixed on James.

Hearing that, James frowned and turned to look at Jolene.

Jolene Walter. He knew the name but was familiar with her. He continued talking to Jenny, "The party is almost over. Shall I take you back?"

Jenny hesitated and scanned the room for Alec but couldn't find him. She then agreed, saying, "Okay, I'll trouble you then."

Of course, the Walters had a driver waiting for them outside, but Jenny felt that she didn't need to be so reserved due to her relationship with James. Since he offered to drive her home, she had no reason to refuse.

Jolene almost turned green with jealousy, but still, she put on a smile and said, "Mr. Windsor, I'm going home too?"

Her eyes were begging him to take her along.

Jenny was relieved that she had never thought of Jolene as her younger sister.

She would have been embarrassed if she had.

"Do you really need me to send you back, Miss Jolene?" James was indifferent toward Jolene, and he had no intention of driving her home.

Jolene, however, persisted. "If you're sending my sister back, what's wrong with sending me back too?" She viewed the Windsor and Walter families as equals, despite the Windsors' greater prominence. She wondered why he treated her that way.

"No," James refused bluntly.

Jolene was furious, but she dared not offend him. She turned to Jenny and tried to appeal to their supposed sisterhood. "Sis-"

"Stop it. Do you really think of me as your sister?" Jenny found the suggestion amusing; Aside from pretending to be sisters in front of Graham, Jenny couldn't be bothered to put up with the act.

Jolene couldn't force herself to smile anymore.

At a loss for words, she watched the car drive away, clenching her fists so tightly that her nails dug into her flesh. She was determined not to let Jenny take everything that belonged to her.

At the hotel entrance, Jenny got into James's car, and they left. Alec appeared from a corner after they were gone. He had seen Jenny looking for him at the party but didn't reveal himself. He knew that acknowledging her in public would only cause her more trouble.

Alec felt uneasy watching Jenny leave with another man. He recognized James from the Parrington auction, where he had come to Jenny's rescue. Apparently, he was a senior student under Jenny's mentor. However, Alec wasn't sure if James treated her as a fellow student. The uncertainty troubled him.

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 532-Kneel Down and Beg Me Now In James's car, the atmosphere was pleasant as the two chatted about various things, catching up with each other.

At the thought of their mentor, Jenny missed him. "I wonder where he has gone."

"I have no idea," James answered. "The old man never contacts me.no.velxo I thought you would know."

Despite Jenny being Mr. Birkett's secret student, she received more love and affection from Mr. Birkett, which made James jealous of her.

Jenny smiled wryly. "I haven't been able to contact him for a long time."

"Don't worry. He has spent many years like this. He knows what he's doing."

James knew what she was worried about and tried to comfort her.

Jenny nodded and asked, "James, when will you be free? Let me treat you to dinner."

James had been very kind to her.no.velxo When they were under Mr. Birkett's mentorship, James had always guided her, so Jenny wanted to thank him.

"Well, I'm free whenever you are," James said with a grin. There was no way he would forgo such a precious opportunity.

Jenny also laughed when she heard that. "Okay, I'll call you tomorrow."

"Okay." James nodded, his heart doing a little happy dance.

Soon, they arrived at the gates of Walter Castle, and Jenny got ready to get out of the car. However, James hadn't asked the question he had on his mind the whole night.

"Jenny," he called out her name when she was about to open the car door.

Jenny stopped and turned to look at him. "What's wrong, James?"

"Do you…have a boyfriend now?" Finally, no.velxo James popped the question.

If he wasn't clear with his question, he wouldn't be able to sleep well.

Jenny didn't expect that question, so she was stunned. Seeing her like that, James quickly explained, "Don't get me wrong, I just-"

"Don't worry, I'm not getting any silly ideas. I know you're just concerned about me," Jenny said with a smile. "I don't have one yet, but I'm sure you also know that I am a divorcee. I've learned not to force things when it comes to romance and let it come naturally."

Jenny never hid her divorce from anyone as she found no reason to do so.

Whether good or bad, it was part of her life, and she didn't care what others said.

"Oh," James responded, feeling relieved that she didn't have a boyfriend. As for being a divorcee, it didn't bother James very much. He knew that Jenny had been married for two years but had never met her husband at all.

"Feelings can't be forced, so you must think carefully," James reminded her again.

Jenny nodded. She opened the car door and walked out. James followed suit.

He escorted her to the door, where he watched her walk into the house. He didn't turn until she vanished from his sight. After that, he returned to his car and left.

Meanwhile, Alec also left the party after Jenny was gone. He had no business staying any longer as he had only gone to see Jenny. Now that she had left, there was no need for him to stay.

Just as he was about to get in the car, Jolene suddenly approached him.

"How brave of you to attend this party." Jolene folded her arms across her chest.

She was pent up with frustration. Now that she had run into someone she could pick on, she decided to use him as an outlet for her anger.

Ignoring her, Alec was about to open the car door. However, Jolene did not let him go easily. With a wave, a group of bodyguards surrounded Alec.

"If you kneel and beg me now, I may consider letting you go." Jolene smiled as she stared him down, speaking to him in a merciful tone.

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 533Are You Afraid Now?

Looking at the bodyguards surrounding him, Alec frowned. "What are you trying to do?"

"What am I trying to do?" Jolene asked with a chuckle, finding him rather interesting.

Raising her chin, she walked up to him. "Weren't you acting all high and mighty?

Didn't you say you were going to intervene? I thought you were so powerful."

Before investigating his background, she thought he was a son who hailed from a powerful secret family. After all, she knew almost all the children of the Ten Elites of Bardoff City, and she had never seen him. However, after her investigation, no.velxoshe burst out laughing. Did Alec think that he was all that just because he had some influence in Parrington? How dare he behave so arrogantly and brashly in a place like Bardoff City where important figures hid in plain sight.

"Kneel down and apologize to me!" Jolene decided she would have to experience that satisfaction no matter what. After all, Alec was Jenny's exhusband. If he knelt and apologized, it would feel like she managed to get at Jenny too, which would make her feel much better.

Alec didn't budge. "What if I don't?"

With a scoff, Jolene waved at her bodyguards, and they rushed toward Alec in an instant. Alec didn't panic. He took off his blazer leisurely and rolled up his sleeves before he began brawling with the bodyguards that rushed over.

At first, Jolene smiled brightly, eagerly waiting for Alec to be escorted over and forced to kneel in front of her, begging for mercy.no.velxo However, the longer she waited, the more her smile faded.

She had brought a dozen bodyguards with her, but they were no match for Alec.

"Useless! You're all useless!" Jolene roared. As she took out her mobile phone to make a phone call, she screamed. "Get him! I want to see how good you are at fighting!"

She began making a phone call. Maybe he could take down more than ten people at once. But what about twenty? Thirty? There was only one thought in her head-Alec had to kneel and apologize to her. However, as soon as she finished making the phone call, the last of her bodyguards fell to the ground, and Alec was already in front of her.

He looked like a demon from hell. no.velxoBefore Jolene could speak, he grabbed her jaw and lifted her up.

"Let go! Let me go!" Losing her breath, she stared at Alec in horror. From the murderous look in his eyes, she could see how much he wanted to kill her, and it scared her. He was simply a devil, and it was no wonder to Jolene that he took a liking to Jenny.

Alec didn't let her go. Instead, he squeezed her jaw harder. "I thought you wanted me to kneel down and apologize? What? Are you afraid now?"

"I—" Jolene wanted to say something but couldn't speak at all.

"It just so happens that the sight of you makes me upset. Also, I think killing you will save Jenny some trouble." He knew that Jolene deliberately made things difficult for Jenny that night, which added to his animosity toward Jolene.

Unexpectedly, Jolene delivered herself into his hands.

While Jolene couldn't speak,no.velxo she could hear Alec and her eyes widened in disbelief.

"I…I am the Walter family's…" She wanted to say that she was the daughter of the Walter family, and Alec could not do anything to her. However, she was losing her breath, and halfway through her sentence, her face was as red as a tomato.

"If you die, the Walters would only have one daughter, right?" Alec grinned like the Devil.

At this moment, he couldn't think about the consequences of killing Jolene. All he could think of was how she plotted against Jenny

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 534-'m Disciplining Your Daughter for You "What are you doing? Let go of my daughter!" Rowena rushed out with a group of bodyguards after receiving Jolene's call.

She had rushed, thinking all she needed no.velxo to do was to help her daughter teach someone a lesson. She didn’t care whose fault it was and wanted to support her daughter immediately. However, she was shocked to see her daughter in Alec's hands, her face flushed from lack of air.

"Mom…" Jolene managed to say, tears streaming down her face.

Rowena was angry and anxious, "Sir, let my daughter go. I'll give you whatever you want."

Alec was indifferent. ”1 just want her life."

Rowena tried to intimidate him by saying. "Do you know who she is? She is the daughter of the Walter family. If you attack the Walters, you won't leave here alive."

Jolene was losing consciousness and waved her hands frantically, but Alec was unmoved. In fact, her mother's words only disgusted Alec.

Rowena urgently instructed the bodyguard behind her, "Quickly, save her!"

As the bodyguard was about to act, Alec tightened his grip and warned, "I suggest you don't do that unless you want to see her dead right away."

"No!" Rowena shouted, halting the bodyguards no.velxofrom rushing in, feeling helpless.

Just then, Graham emerged from the hotel with a grim expression and hurried over to them. If the bodyguards hadn't alerted him, he wouldn't have known that his daughter was in danger.

He glared at Alec, demanding, "Alec, are you insane? Release Jolene!"

He knew Alec, not because they were acquainted, but because of Jenny and Alec's marriage. Although he didn't want that to happen, he hadn't admitted that Jenny was his daughter back then, so he had no right to stop them. He could only watch as she married Alec and later divorced him.

He didn't like Alec and always thought that he had failed Jenny.

Alec was indifferent and fearless as he said to Graham, "Mr. Walter, I'm disciplining your daughter for you. As the daughter of the Walter family, she doesn't think about things from the Walter family's point of view. She likes to pick on others at every turn. Don't you feel ashamed to have such a daughter?"

Graham had no way to refute Alec's words because he knew that Jolene was not the best person and likely used her no.velxo status to pick on others, giving Alec a reason to discipline her. He took a deep breath and softened his tone, saying, "I apologize to you on Jolene's behalf. She is still young and ignorant, so please don't take it out on her."

Alec chuckled and said, "Still young? I don't think she's much younger than Jenny, right?"

At the mention of Jenny, Graham said, "No matter what, Jolene is still Jenny's younger sister. Are you sure you really want to kill her?"

Despite the number of people on his side, Graham knew it was impossible to snatch Jolene away from Alec in their current situation. But he was sure that if Alec killed Jolene, he would avenge his daughter himself.

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 535- Whether She's in the Right Alec loosened his grip on Jolene's neck and looked at Graham. "I'll show you some respect because you're Jenny's father." Holding back was Alec's show of respect to Graham, for he had vowed not to go easy on Jolene no matter who came to him.

Graham did not need anyone's respect. Be it in tiny Parrington or Bardoff City, he was always the one to decide who deserved his respect. He had been unhappy with Jenny's marriage to Alec, and his dissatisfaction with Alec only increased after Alec divorced Jenny. Now, he had the guts to be impudent in front of him.

When the bodyguards successfully took Jolene away, Graham finally spoke, "Alec, you can only be impudent if you are capable. Look around you and understand where you are right now. You shouldn't throw tantrums as you like,' Expressionless, he addressed Alec in an icy tone.

Alec raised an eyebrow without any fear. "Mr. Walter, from the sound of it, you will take action on me. Is that right?"

He glanced at the number of bodyguards beside Graham, which was double the number of men around Jolene. More importantly, Graham's bodyguards were not easy to take down.

"Hah, it's not my style to win with numbers," Graham scoffed. Alec waited in silence for Graham to continue. "We'll have a one-to-one fight. Jolene is my daughter, after all. As her dad, I need to seek justice for her."

"Regardless of whether she's in the right?" Alec chuckled.

"Yes, regardless of whether she's in the right." Graham nodded without hesitation and added, "I'd do the same for Jenny."

Graham believed that his daughters deserved privileged treatment. He'd much rather Alec not take things in his hands and put Jolene's life in danger. Alec could have told him and let him discipline Jolene for her wrongdoings. His behavior, to Graham, was more than a slight disrespect to the Walter Family-it was a grave insult to the patriarch.

Surprisingly, Alec agreed with Graham's remark about affording Jenny similar privileges. It seemed he’d agree to any arrangement in Jenny's favor. He nodded at Graham, a sign for the man to start the fight.

Without wasting time, Graham looked at the man beside him. "Teach him a lesson, but do not kill.’ As Graham had learned that Jenny was friendly with Alec, he wouldn't want to upset her by hurting Alec, given that he had only recently repaired their fatherdaughter relationship.

The middle-aged man nodded at Graham while Alec smiled and thought,"

Where did he get the confidence to win against me? I have never lost to anyone."

The two were embroiled in a fight. There were a lot of onlookers who thought the fight interesting, but all were watching the action in hidden corners. One of them was Christopher, who had been around ever since Jolene started giving Alec trouble. When he saw Alec in a fight with Graham's man, he secretly felt glad for making the trip and took out his phone to snap some photos. After that, he scrolled to Jenny's contact in his phone, but he hesitated when he was about to send her the photos.

He thought the photos could wait and planned to send them after the fight ended. He wouldn't want Jenny to show up in the middle of the fight and end the show. Deep down, he wanted to see Alec beaten up-Alec was asking for it.

At first, the middle-aged man and Alec were throwing punches at each other for a few rounds, much to Graham's surprise. The man served Graham for many years and was almost invincible, except when he was fighting against opponents trained by the other elite families. Graham started believing that Alec was cocky for a good reason. Still, he was no match for the middle-aged man in the end.

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 536-Lie Low to Live Longer Ten minutes of fighting later, Alec started feeling worn out as he noticed that he was no match for his opponent. He was gripped by shock and frustration for not being stronger.

Alec stumbled backward from the impact of another punch that landed on his cheek. The middle-aged man didn't give Alec time to recover-he charged at Alec and punched him violently. Had he not strictly followed Graham's orders to teach Alec a lesson, Alec would have been dead by now.

Soon, Alec was face-down on the ground.

"You may leave," Graham said to the middle-aged man. Then, he strode up to Alec and stood towering over the defeated man on the ground with a regal air.

"Alec Faust, I get that you're quite capable, but your ability is still lacking for Bardoff City standards. Had you met another opponent instead of me, you would have died here today. Here's a warning-lay low before you are strong enough so you can live longer." With that, Graham turned around to leave. He suddenly stopped and said, ’Jenny is the daughter of the Walter family. She's out of your league now. I hope you get the note and stop pestering her-you're not from the same world."

After Graham left, Alec got up from the ground, dusted his sleeves, and left in his car. He was not upset about the loss, for he could always win in the future.

He was young, and it was a matter of time before he beat the middle -aged man. i What upset him was Graham's statement. "Am I not from the same world as Jenny? Bullshit! Jenny is mine, now and forever. Graham Walter might be her dad, but he didn't have the right to make decisions on her behalf," he fumed silently.

He drove himself home, body aching from head to toe from the heavy beating that night. He sat on the sofa and was about to take off his shirt to check his injuries when he heard the sound of the doorbell. Frowning, he wondered who the late-night visitor was.

He walked up and opened the door. To his surprise, Jenny was standing there.

"Why are you here?" he blurted out. She didn't answer, but her eyes were fixed on his face. There was a jarring bruise beneath his eyes, an injury he could not hide even if he insisted he was fine. "I accidentally tripped."

She was speechless at his explanation. "Do you take me as a fool?"

He stood there quietly as she walked into his place. "Come in. I'll take a look at your injuries." As a doctor, she was capable of checking the severity of his injuries. She wondered if he had also sustained injuries at other parts of his body. She received Christopher's video, in which Alec was terribly beaten up to the point that he could not stand.

He hummed and followed her into the living room, sitting on the sofa.

She ordered, "Take off your shirt."

”1…' He suddenly felt shy under her gaze.

She rolled her eyes at him. "Now! Quit acting like you're embarrassed." She knew him too well-he was not easily embarrassed.

He coughed to break the awkwardness and took off his shirt to show his injuries from the fight. Judging from the huge swaths of bruises on his chest and back, he was beaten up badly. There wasn't an area that was free from bruising.

Thankfully, he had no open wounds, or he might suffer from excessive blood loss.

Jenny took out some ointment and massaged his body as she gave him a look in defeat. She asked softly, "Does it hurt?’

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 537-Deal With Them Yourself Jenny thought he'd complain about the pain, but Alec shook his head and said.

"No, it doesn't hurt."

He was speaking the truth and was especially enjoying the moment when Jenny applied the ointment to his injuries.

Hearing that, she couldn't resist pinching his bruised skin hard. He promptly yelped in pain. "Jenny, what are you doing?" He was puzzled and wondered if he had said something wrong.

"How about now?" she asked.

Alec learned his lesson and nodded. ’It hurts. It hurts a lot."

She snickered and said in dissatisfaction, "Good that it hurts. Learn your lesson.

You shouldn't think you're still in Parrington. Aren't you scared of dying?"

"How did you know?" Alec was curious,no.velxo knowing that Graham would not tell Jenny about the fight.

She avoided his question and said, "I know you're used to walking around like you own the place, but now that you're in Bardoff City, you need to toe the line.

Luck is not always on your side."

"Great. Even you're scolding me now." He felt helpless. He didn't think he was being impudent-his actions stemmed from his confidence in his capabilities.

However, Jenny wouldn't believe no.velxo him if he said so. Therefore, he let her nag at him since it was a show of concern.

"I'm not scolding you. I am telling you this in your best interest." Defeated, she wondered why Alec showed no intent to behave. He nodded. "I get it. Don't worry. I won't give you trouble."

Her motions instantly came to a stop. She looked at him with a grave expression. "Alec Faust, did you think I visited you because I was worried that you'd give me trouble?"

"Jenny, that wasn't what I meant. I…"

"Whatever. Perhaps I'm just being nosy. Do whatever you want-1 won't stop you since there's nothing between us anyway." She planned to leave, regretting her decision to visit him. "Sure, he's not dead now. But it is none of my business even if he was beaten to death," she thought.

Seeing that, he hurriedly got up and grabbed her wrist. "Jenny, don't be angry. I really didn't mean it. I just didn't want to worry you. I know my limits, and I'm not as reckless as you thought."

She couldn't leave with Alec holding onto her wrist. Turning around, she sighed.

"You have offended the Walters, and the Glasses probably wouldn't let you off the hook too. You have made enemies out of two elites among the ten in Bardoff City."

Even the thought of the tough life ahead worried her. "Why don't you head back to Parrington? It's your territory, at the very least. It'd be harder for them to attack you there."

"Jenny, I'm not as weak as you thought. no.velxo I might not have the ability to retaliate, but it's not easy forthem to kill me off.' His years of experience wouldn't go to waste.

She was powerless in the face of his determination. "Are you sure you want to move the headquarters of the Faust Group to Bardoff City?"

"Yeah, there are better opportunities here." More importantly, he needed to be in Bardoff City because Jenny was there.

"Alright. Suit yourself." She didn't object to his decision and added, "I'll think of a way to stop the Walters from making a move on you. As for the Glasses, you can deal with them yourself."

If the Walters didn't avenge Jolene, Rowena would definitely turn to her family for help. Jenny could tell from Randy Glass' character that the Glasses were vile, and they would likely attack Alec. The thought worried her.

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 538-Let's Not Talk About Romance Alec nodded, looking calmer than Jenny. Carefree as always, he'd only take on the problem when it surfaced. He believed that there would always be a solution to any problem.

He led her to the sofa, sat her down, and handed her the ointment. "You should at least finish what you started."

She didn't object to that and continued applying the ointment to his body. The living room fell into silence when they stopped talking.

Soon, she was done and ready to leave. "Have a good rest. It's best if you could rest at home for a few days."

"Are you leaving?" he asked.

She nodded. "It's late. I need to get home." She knew Graham didn't like that she was in touch with Alec, and she worried she might fuel Graham's dislike of Alec if she got home late.

"Jenny," Alec called out, his deep gaze fixated on her face. "The truth is, you still care about me. Don't you?" As expected, she was silent. He added, "I'm not strong enough yet. Can you wait for me?"

"Wait for you?" She was puzzled by his words.

"Wait for me until I have built my strength. Right now, I'm not qualified to be with you." He flashed a bitter smile at her. As much as he'd love to date Jenny right now, he understood that it was a difficult ask. Therefore, he hoped that she could give him some time.

She chuckled at his remark, looking a little disheartened. "Alec, you've known me long enough. Is that what you think of me?"

She wasn't the type of woman who'd care about his qualifications.

"I know you wouldn't care about that. But I don't want you to be mistreated, and I don't want the others to gossip." He would hate to see others gossip about Jenny behind her back because of him, and he'd be more upset if he could not protect her.

His sincerity earned her trust. Still…

A long silence later, she replied, "I don't care about your family background. If I love someone, I will keep loving him regardless of status."

"Do you love me, then?" He took the chance to ask, but she rolled her eyes at him while dodging the question. ’That's not in my consideration right now because I'm yet to establish myself in Bardoff City. Everything's in flux now, and I have lots of work waiting for me."

"I understand." He knew where she was coming from, for he felt the same.

"Let's not talk about romance now and focus on reaching success. When we have established ourselves here, we can bring up that discussion. What do you think?" she asked for his opinion. She'd be fooling herself if she claimed she didn't love Alec, but she was rather scared of dating him again after their shortlived relationship. Moreover, she believed getting into a relationship would slow down her career growth. Before she built her career here, she would rather not think about romance.

Alec was slightly disappointed that she avoided answering his question, but he wasn't too upset because he understood her intentions. When they were both successful, she'd be willing to get into a relationship with him.

"Sure," Alec agreed with her decision. He wouldn't easily give up as long as there was a chance. She smiled, satisfied at their agreement to pursue their goals and meet at the peak of their success.

"So.J'll go home now?" She pointed at the door as she prepared to leave. He didn't want her to leave, but he didn't stop her after she had made her intentions clear.

"If Jolene Walter pulls tricks on you again, let me know, and I will teach her a lesson for you," he added.

She shook her head at him. "You'd better not show up in front of her for now.

She's vindictive. Since she can't lay a finger on me, she'll only vent her anger on you. She'll give you trouble for the time being."

After a few setbacks, Jolene had gotten a better idea of who she should hire to deal with Alec. As the daughter of the Walter family, she could easily pay some men to do so. Alec was in danger, as Jolene might hire someone to assault him at any time.

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 539-She Can't Lay a Finger on Me Alec understood her concerns but remained calm. "Don't worry. I can handle it."

"Okay. Call me if anything happens. At this point, she can't lay a finger on me, at least not in public.' As long as Graham was on Jenny's side, Jolene could only make her moves in secret.

Feeling touched by her concern, he smiled at her. "Okay."

He sent her to the front door and watched until her car was out of sight. Then, he went back inside.

The two were too busy to meet up in the following days. Jenny was occupied with Jeneration Group’s headquarters move. Meanwhile, Alec was busy with moving the headquarters of Faust Group to Bardoff City and dealing with the Glasses' harassment.

Unlike what Jenny had feared, the Glasses didn't send anyone to harm Alec.

Instead, they made their move in the field of business in an attempt to bankrupt him. Despite their efforts, it would take much more to bankrupt Alec.

Even so, life wasn't smooth sailing for him, who had to dedicate most of his time to work and didn't have time to meet with Jenny.

Once Jenny and Jade confirmed the place for the headquarters office, they started assembling talents for the company. The other office at Parrington would be designated as a branch after this.

Jenny was slightly relieved after she was done with all the work. She could finally have some breathing space with Jade and Alfred taking care of the company. Alfred's capability was much appreciated and acknowledged, for things might not have gone smoothly without his assistance.

Jenny left her office and decided to hail a cab to Walter Inc. Once she wrapped up her work in Bardoff City, she planned to take a trip to Parrington to take care of the branch office and rescue Stephanie from Paul. Before that, she needed to check with Graham's schedule because she had promised to bring him to Parrington.

Before she could get a cab, she received a call from someone that came as a surprise. "James?"

"Jenny, are you busy now?" His gentle voice was music to her ears.

"I'm just done with work. Did something happen?" she asked with a hint of worry.

He smiled and said, "Nothing! I want to treat you to dinner tonight if you're free."

She was caught off guard by his invitation. They were on good terms in the past, but they rarely had the chance to meet up in person. Now that she was settling down in Bardoff City, she might come across him more often.

"Sure, but I should be the one who buys you dinner." She had completely forgotten to treat him to dinner in the frantic days before. As she was on a call with him, she seized the chance to meet up with him. She had decided to head over to Walter Inc after dinner because there were no urgent matters on hand.

James didn't object to her suggestion. It mattered more that Jenny agreed to have dinner with him than who was paying. After they decided on a restaurant, he offered to pick her up, but she refused as she had called a cab. "James, let's meet there."

"Great." Learning that, he didn't insist on fetching her-there would be ample opportunities to do so down the road.

After she ended the call, Jenny checked the news online and instantly saw the latest update on the Glass family.

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 540-What a Load of Crap The branch office of the Faust Group was relatively unknown in Bardoff City, as it was less influential relative to the many big names. However, as most people paid attention to the developments of the Glass family, they noticed that the family had been making moves against the Faust Group, which piqued their curiosity.

The outsiders mistook the actions for the Glass family's ambition to acquire Faust Group, but only Jenny knew that Rowena and Jolene were behind the recent moves. Worried that Alec would struggle to fend off the attacks, Jenny wanted to call him out of concern but held back in the end. Based on her understanding of him, he would definitely turn down her offer to help when his ego acted up, just like the average man.

With that in mind, she decided to ask James for help later. Well, she wasn't exactly asking him to actively intervene.no.velxo It'd be great if he could at least hold off the Glass family. Moreover, a stronger Glass family would be bad news for the Walter family.

Deep in thought, she didn't notice that the cab had veered off the route to the restaurant.

"We're here."

She snapped back to reality when she heard the husky voice of the driver. She looked out of the window and saw a stretch of wilderness. That was when she realized that something was wrong.

"Where are we?’ she asked, but the driver didn't turn around.no.velxo She didn't have a clear view of his face.

"At your grave." She heard the husky voice once again. The man had gotten out of the car and opened the door to the back seat. When he pulled her out of the car, she didn't resist because it would be difficult to fight him in the cramped space anyway.

Rowena and Jolene must have been impatient, for they had immediately hired someone to get rid of her after the event last night.

With one glance, Jenny could tell he was a tough nut to crack even before taking him on. By now, she had learned her lessons and acknowledged that Bardoff City was full of skilled opponents. She was far from invincible in the city with her current skills. Therefore, her first reaction was to buy time. She dialed a number using the phone hidden in the bag,no.velxo even though she had no idea who she had called.

"Mister, calm down. You'll be sentenced for murder. Do you plan to ruin your life at such a young age?" She tried persuading the man, but he charged at her impatiently. Speechless, she grumbled, 'We should at least chat. Why the rush?' "What a load of crap," he snickered, to her dismay. She wasn't a talkative person either, but she had to buy herself time somehow or risk losing her life.

Her decision not to fight him was proven wise-after fending off his attacks, she realized she was no match for him.

"Rowena and her people have gotten smart. Now that they know I am skilled in martial arts, they would spend a fortune hiring the best to take me on. They're no longer as dumb as they were," she mused. Despite not knowing who she had called, she hoped the person who picked up would understand that she was in trouble and bring help. Otherwise, she might meet her end that day.

While they were busy sparring, James received a call from Jenny. He thought she had something to say, but he heard nothing from the other end, which was puzzling. As Jenny did not switch on the speaker mode, he could only pick up some rustling noises without knowing what was happening. Nevertheless, he immediately sensed that something was wrong.
