She gestured to the channels below.

“They laid down a stable foundation without compromising the buildings above. After that, engineers and construction crews handled the rest. Even so, without proper blueprints and the efforts of countless Wardens, it would’ve taken centuries to spread this system across the Kingdom.”

Her voice softened slightly.

“Cities like Belius and Derios would never have grown the way they did without sewers preventing repeated outbreaks of disease. One day, Lutia will have something like this too—thanks to the Philo River.”

“The Philo River?” Solus recoiled. “What about the forest? The animals? What are they supposed to drink?”
