Ch. 886..890: Powerful Papa with Triplet Babies Chapter 886-890
Chapter 886
She did not want to bring harm to innocent people, so she sat up and started eating, one small bite at a time.
“Take it slow, Ms. Vallois. Let your stomach get used to it. You didn’t eat much at noon,” Fiona said.
Anne could not stand to eat too much or she would vomit, which meant that she would continue eating, so she had to take it slow.
Eventually, she finished her food.
“How do you feel, Ms. Vallois? Any discomfort?”
“I’m fine,” Anne said.
‘I can’t believe that medicine works,‘ Fiona thought to herself.
Anne got up and went upstairs, with the maid following closely behind her.
Once she was inside the bedroom, the maid stood outside the room and Anne ignored her. Anthony had commanded the maid to follow her everywhere, and she knew that she had no power to change that.
”
She leaned against the bed and rubbed her stomach.
She should not have gotten pregnant.
Even if she gave birth to it, it would only increase the factors that concerned her like the triplets did. She already had three children to worry about, and now she had four.
This was the last thing Anne wanted…
Just then, her phone on the nightstand started ringing. At first, she thought that it was from Anthony, but soon realized that it was from an unknown number.
‘Who is this…‘ She thought. ‘I don’t even go to work anymore, so who could be contacting me right now…‘
“Hello…?”
“Anne, are you busy?” It was Ashlynn.
“Oh, it’s you. I’m not busy right now.”
“Are you alright?” Ashlynn asked.
“I’m fine. What about you? Is there something you want to ask?” Anne did not mention her crisis, because she knew she was the only one who could get herself out of the current situation.
“Do you remember the news about a couple being found dead in a motel? Did they find out what happened?” Ashlynn asked.
“I haven’t paid attention to that. Let me ask someone … Whoever is outside, come in,” Anne called out. Once the maid came inside, she asked, “Do you know about the news regarding a couple being found dead in a motel?”
“Yes. I’ve seen it on the news.”
“Have they found out what happened?”
“I don’t recall seeing or hearing any updates, so I assume not, or the news would have reported it,” the maid said.
“Okay. That’s all I needed,” Anne said.
The maid went outside and continued to stand outside the door.
“Did you hear her?” Anne asked.
“I did,” Ashlynn said, “I didn’t see any update on the news either so I thought maybe you knew something.”
“I will try asking Anthony later.”
“It’s fine.”
“Why are you asking about this?”
“No reason. I just think that it’s horrifying and wondered who did it. Forget it. I don’t really want to know.”
After the call, Ashlynn sat on the toilet in a daze.
She could not tell Anne that she suspected Corentin to be the killer, because there was still a chance that she could be wrong. However, Salvatore had always been a vengeful person and even though he had not reacted to what happened in front of her, it was too much of a coincidence for something to happen on that exact night.
She carried her dog and hid the phone underneath its belly, before getting up. As she walked out of the room, she ran into a nervous–looking servant and asked, “Is this your phone?”
Terrified, the servant said, “I’m so sorry. I only brought my phone here today because of some personal business. I will never do it again!”
“It’s fine. I will pretend that I didn’t see it.”
“Thank you!”
Ashlynn then returned to her room.
Chapter 887
The maid hid the phone underneath a plant and Ashlynn happened upon the sight of the maid hiding it away, so she used the maid’s phone to call Anne..
Ashlynn returned to bed and her phone on the nightstand started ringing.
She picked it up and saw Corentin’s name on it. “Hello?”
“What are you doing?”
“In my room. I am not doing anything.”
“I’m not coming home for dinner. Don’t wait up,” he said.
Ashlynn never would have waited for him, nor did she care about when he returned. If possible, she would much prefer that he remained gone, but she knew that it was impossible.
“Okay,” she said.
At night, Ashlynn had dinner on her own and took her dog back into the room afterward.
Corentin did not arrive home until nine.
He was in a room drinking when he received a phone call, he was slightly taken by surprise when he saw the display on his phone and immediately got up to answer the call. ” Miss me?”
“Are you out with another woman? If you have another woman, let me go,” Ashlynn said.
“Jealous already?” He chuckled endearingly, “I will tell the driver to send you over. Let me show you something.”
He returned into the room and sat down.
Paul Holt, a bald man, asked, “Are you busy with something, Corentin?”
Another man, Owen Curtis, said, “Why are you working here? You, go sit next to Corentin.”
A woman stood up and flounced her way toward Corentin.
“You little wh*re. Must have been dying to get closer to Corentin, huh?” Owen spat and the others burst into laughter.
The woman took her seat next to Corentin, but he immediately said, “Go away. You are not needed here.”
“What’s wrong, Corentin? Are you in a bad mood?” Paul asked.
“I know what’s going on. He must have satisfied himself elsewhere! Hahaha!”
“My wife is coming here later,” Corentin said with a cigarette between his lips. “Behave.”
“When did you get married, Corentin ? I know. It’s that woman, Meredith. She just can’t wait to be with you, huh? “Owen grinned.
Paul, on the other hand, stopped smiling and observed Corentin’s expression. “Could it be…Ashlynn?”
It was only normal that he made such a guess, as they had only known one wife to Corentin, and that was Ashlynn.
The room instantly fell into silence as everyone appeared offended.
They all knew that Ashlynn was the reason why Salvatore was arrested and as Salvatore’s gang, they were arrested as well and were not freed until two years ago.
They all resented Ashlynn and had a thousand ways to torture her in their mind.
“Yeah,” Corentin said.
“I don’t understand. You can have anyone you want, so why her? Have you forgotten how she almost got you killed?” Owen could not contain his temper.
“That’s right. She trapped us!” The others agreed.
“You ran into her by accident?” Paul asked.
“I ran into her in Luton. The eldest son of the Lloyd Family lives there and I went there to have a look,” Corentin simply said, “it’s better to keep her next to me than to let her roam free.”
“You should kill her, Corentin!” Owen said, “If you can’t do it, we can do it for you!”
“Are you done?” Corentin questioned darkly.
The others instantly quieted down.
Chapter 888
Corentin toyed with the cigarette between his fingers. No one touches her. Besides, without her, do you think you can enjoy this life that you have right now?”
Paul smiled and leaned back against the couch. “That’s true. I guess you never know what happens. If Corentin doesn’t care, you all have no place to complain, not when you are having the best time of your lives right now.”
Rendered speechless, Owen still felt enraged, but knew that there was nothing he could do if Corentin wanted Ashlynn.
Corentin scanned them coldly. “Learn from Paul. If any of you come in my way, I will make sure you suffer for it.”
All these men had followed Salvatore’s lead from years. ago and were all obedient to his orders.
Ashlynn stepped out of the car and spotted Corentin waiting for her by the road with both his hands in his pockets. He walked over, wrapped his arm around her waist, before lowering his head to nip on her lips.
“Ugh…you reek of alcohol…” She complained.
“Better that than smelling perfume from me, don’t you think?” He whispered devilishly into her ear.
‘…What exactly do you want to show me?”
“Let’s go in.” He took her into the bar.
Going into places like this with Corentin was the last thing she wanted, but she wanted to know what he was hiding.
Anne had mentioned to her that the Lloyd Family held secrets, and Ashlynn knew that Corentin was definitely involved in those secrets, her only way to the truth was to stay close to Corentin and observe.
She was shut off of everything when Corentin locked her in his mansion, so the deafening music and blinding lights were overwhelming.
There were men and women in revealing clothes as far as the eyes could see and as they marched deeper into the bar, the noises faded.
The door to the private room opened and Ashlynn said that all the men inside had women in their arms. When she saw the faces of the men, she froze and paled.
‘These are all men who belonged to Salvatore’s gang. I can’t believe they are out of prison already…‘ She thought.
“Come. Let’s re–introduce you to everyone.” Corentin pushed her forward.
Unable to escape, she was dragged to sit down next to Corentin.
“It’s been so long, Sis,” Paul greeted her at first with a smile, before glancing at the others warningly.
“Yeah. It’s been a while, Sis…” The others followed.
No matter how hard she tried to reel her emotions in, she could not help but breath heavily.
It was almost as though nothing had changed and her nightmare had been copied and pasted to reality, the only difference was that they all looked far more glamorous on the outside.
Paul and Owen were Salvatore’s left and right–hand men and they were as close as brothers. All of the men inside the room were criminals.
‘So Corentin has been drinking with these guys,‘ she thought to herself.
The waitress brought over milder alcoholic drinks and Corentin poured her a glass. “See? I’m not with another woman.”
“Sis, we are witnesses to that. We were shoving women at him but he turned them all down,” Paul said.
“There’s no other man like Corentin. I hope someone knows how good they have it,” Owen said sarcastically, “I heard that the more educated a person is, the bigger traitor they are. I wonder if that’s true.”
“Sis was the only one who graduated from college in our area! Everyone looked up to her. That’s how Corentin fell for you.”
The tension that Owen rose instantly eased.
Ashlynn had never liked these men and did not like it that Salvatore spent time with them.
They would either be drinking or committing unspeakable acts whenever they gathered, but she had no control over Salvatore both in the past and the future, so she did not bother saying anything about it.
“You’ve been with him this entire time?” She asked, “Are you working in the Lloyd Group?”
Chapter 889
“You must be joking. We are uneducated and will only embarrass ourselves if we try working in the Lloyd Group, “Paul said, “I opened this bar and these fellows helped me out with it. Corentin comes by for a drink from time to time. You know that Corentin is busy running the company. Don’t worry, though. We will keep an eye on him. If he tries going to another woman, we will tell you.”
Ashlynn did not care if they did so, but was concerned when she learnt that Paul was the owner of the bar.
A bar was a place where all sorts of people would gather and seemed fitting for people like them. On her way in, she noticed that the bar was completely packed and realized that they had been rather successful.
‘Maybe they all changed after Corentin got out of prison?‘ She thought to herself, ‘But is that really possible?‘
“Sis, here’s to you.” Paul raised his glass.
Ashlynn did not refuse and reached for her glass, when Owen said, “Sis, drink from this bottle instead. This should mean nothing to you if you are Corentin’s woman!
He was holding a bottle of liquor and Corentin shot him a warning look.
“She can’t drink that…” Paul said.
“I can,” she interrupted him.
Paul stilled, before turning to look at Corentin.
Owen slapped his palm on his thigh. “As expected of Corentin’s woman. Here, let me pour you a glass.” He took another glass and poured the liquor into it.
Ashlynn was horrible at drinking, so she knew that if she admitted defeat so easily, she could not stand a chance against them in any future encounters. There were many of them and one of them was bound to let the truth escape at a certain point.
She gulped down on the liquor in her glass and suppressed the urge to choke, but the overwhelming taste filled her mouth and brought tears to her eyes.
Corentin turned to study her face intently.
Owen poured her another glass. “Sis, here’s to you. I remember that you used to stay away from alcohol in the past. You’ve changed.”
“People change,” she said.
Owen raised his glass. “I’m just a brute so I’m going to be straight with you. Do you really love Corentin? If you do, we will let the past go.”
Ashlynn froze, her fingers tightening around her glass.
Corentin observed her face and waited for her to answer with anticipation.
“True love goes both ways. If he truly loves me, of course I will reciprocate,” she said.
“I’ll take your words for it.” Owen finished his glass of liquor, before turning it over to show her that he had finished it.
She took a deep breath and finished her glass as well.
The taste was just as overwhelming as the glass before. She set her glass onto the coffee table and attempted to blink her eyes away.
The others started coming over to drink with Ashlynn as well.
“Enough,” Corentin said, “if you all have one drink with her, she won’t be able to walk out of here on her own.”
“You can carry her, Corentin!”
“That’s right!”
The others burst into laughter.
Corentin waved his hand and stopped them from drinking with Ashlynn. “You guys have fun. We are leaving.”
“It’s still early! Why don’t we play a poker game or two? Sis knows how to play as well, right? Let’s play!” Paul asked.
“It’s fine.” Corentin dragged Ashlynn up with him.
Though Ashlynn did not appear to be drunk, she was already in a daze. As soon as they walked out of the room,
Corentin picked her up from the ground.
She narrowed her eyes teasingly as she stared at his face and muttered, “You…Salvatore…”
“I’m glad that you can still recognize me,” he teased.
“…I can walk on my own.” Ashlynn did not think that she was drunk and felt embarrassed to be carried through the corridor and out of the bar hall.
“Shy?” Reminded of something, he narrowed his eyes devilishly. “Let me show you something.”
He brought her into the washroom and instantly, strange whimpers and grunts were heard. Despite the state that Ashlynn was in, she could still comprehend where the noises were coming from, and the couple inside did not seem to mind the audience.
She clenched her fists and blushed helplessly. “Let’s go out…”
Seeing how embarrassed she was, he carried her out and Ashlynn gave up on asking him to set her down, worried‘ that he would take her back into the washroom.
By the time they were back into the car, the world was spinning before her eyes and she collapsed onto the seat.
“Why would you down two glasses in one go if you know that you can’t drink?” He moved her head to rest on his lap.
Feeling dizzier as she stared up at his face. “Stop moving…”
He lowered his hand and devoured her, lips.
“You look like you are inviting me to toy with you when you are drunk,” he muttered hoarsely. “I won’t disappoint you.”
Chapter 890
Ashlynn could not fight and simply let him do as he pleased.
Losing control of her body, she followed Corentin from the car to their room. By the time she woke up the next morning, she woke up to the memories of what happened the night before and felt ashamed, but she did not regret drinking or going to the bar. Had she not gone, she would, have never realized that Paul and the others were there.
“Woof!”
She turned around and saw her dog curling into a ball on the carpet, its tail wiggling cheerfully when it met her eyes.
“I will pick you up later.” She needed to clean up.
In the afternoon, she had nothing to do and took her dog for a walk.
To her surprise, she ran into Meredith in front of a luxury brand boutique.
Meredith seemed surprised to see her as well, as she had merely come out to shop with her friends.
“Are you here to shop for clothes as well?” Meredith scanned Ashlynn up and down, noticing all the luxury brands on her body, the shoes Ashlynn was wearing were limited editions and there were only a few pairs for sales all around the world.
However, according to Meredith’s research, Ashlynn was born and raised in a slum and could not possibly afford all these, so it was only natural to assume that Corentin was the one who bought everything for her.
“No. I just happen to be in the area,” Ashlynn said.
“Hey, who’s this? Meredith, I’ve never seen this friend of yours. Are you going to introduce us?” Meredith’s friend instantly noticed Ashlynn’s elegant demeanor and expensive outfit.
“She’s just a new friend, so I didn’t think I needed to introduce her. We have a gathering tonight, so why don’t you join us, Ashlynn?” Meredith said.
“Yeah. It’s Meredith’s birthday. You have to be there as a friend!”
Seeing the hesitation on Ashlynn’s expression, Meredith asked, “You can’t be considering turning me down, can you?”
Meredith’s friend chuckled, “No one would dare to turn you down.”
“I’ll go,” Ashlynn said.
Once Meredith provided the venue, she left with her friends.
Ashlynn knew that Meredith and her friends belonged to the same class and she was no one compared to them, which was why she did not wish to openly cross Meredith. It was just a birthday party, after all.
She checked the time and went on to purchase a gift, as she could not participate in a birthday party empty- handed.
After purchasing the gift, she called Corentin and said, I’m not going back for dinner. Meredith invited me to join her birthday party and I said yes.”
“Should I send a car over?” He asked.
“No. I’m already out. I will just head there directly.”
“Don’t stay out too late.”
“I know.”
Ashlynn arrived on the second floor of the hotel and
noticed that the whole floor had been reserved.
As soon as she stepped through the door, she was instantly drawn by the sophisticated interior. There were men and women dressed in extravagant outfits and when she spotted Meredith chatting with her friends by the window with a glass of champagne in her hand, Ashlynn walked over and presented her gift. “Ms. Hilton, Happy Birthday. Here’s a little gift.”
Meredith accepted the small box and opened it to find a bracelet. As a high–born lady who was used to luxury products, she could tell the price of accessories right away and exclaimed, “You are buying me this masstige for my birthday?”
“It’s not a masstige. It’s mid-range, I think,” Ashlynn explained.
“Mid–range products are just as bad as masstige,” Meredith spat in contempt.
When Meredith’s friend noticed that Ashlynn referred to Meredith as ‘Ms. Hilton‘, they instantly came to a realization that Ashlynn was not a friend and began to confront Ashlynn. “You don’t look like you can’t afford luxury based on what you are wearing. Did you buy this kind of trash for Meredith to embarrass her?”
“It’s not her fault,” Meredith said with resignation. “She comes from a slum.”
Her friends gaped and covered their mouths in shock.
“Seriously? The slum?”
“Ew, that’s so disgusting. Why did they let this kind of person in here…”
Everyone began whispering to one another without hiding their contempt for Ashlynn.
Ashlynn could not understand what was there to be surprised about to learn that she came from a slum. All things aside, her gift was hardly a masstige when it cost hundreds. She had not even bought something this expensive for herself in the past.
“You can have it back. It’s filthy.” Meredith tossed the bracelet onto the ground.
Ashlynn picked it up calmly and said, “Do you really think that I can’t buy expensive gifts as Corentin’s woman? I just thought that this looks nice and bought it for you. After all, things that are expensive aren’t always the prettiest. If you don’t appreciate it, then just forget it.
||
She met Meredith’s eyes bravely and refused to step down.
“What did you just say? You are Corentin’s woman? My god, did I hear that correctly?”
“What a joke! You should at least try to be convincing if you want to lie.”
“Meredith, I guess she is trying to take your man!”
“As if she has what it takes!” Meredith said. “Corentin, couldn’t possibly be interested in a woman who comes from the slum. I can tell that all the clothes on her are fake and she’s just here pretending to be someone that she’s not!”
“Hey, isn’t that Corentin?” Someone looked over at the entrance.
Ashlynn turned around and spotted the familiar towering figure walking toward them, his majestic demeanor attracting the eyes of all women in the hall.
