Ch. 891..895: Powerful Papa with Triplet Babies Chapter 891-895

Chapter 891

‘Why is he here? Is he invited to this birthday party as well? He didn’t mention anything to me just now…” Ashlynn thought.

Before she could wrap her head around what was happening, a figure darted past her.

Meredith hurried over to Corentin. “Here you are, Corentin. I thought that you won’t be coming to my birthday party. I know that you care about me…” She stilled before she could finish her sentence, as Corentin had ignored her and continued to walk past her, before stopping in front of Ashlynn.

The others instantly wondered if Corentin was truly seeing Ashlynn. They had all seen the way Corentin ignored Meredith and Meredith’s expression darkened.

Someone decided to add fuel to the fire. “Mr. Lloyd, this lady here brags about being your woman. How could a woman this arrogant be associated with you? She can only dream about it.”

Ashlynn frowned and thought to herself, ‘I wouldn’t have said that if I knew he was coming.‘

Corentin lowered his face until it was inches away from Ashlynn’s. “Did you really say that?”

Her heart raced as she regretted saying Corentin’s name in public.

“Yeah, she said that. We are telling the truth. It’s clear to everyone that she’s making it up.”

“How dare she bring such a cheap gift here?”

“That’s right. We all know how exquisite Mr. Lloyd’s taste is. How could he be interested in her?”

Corentin turned to glare at them darkly. “What taste?”

The few who spoke out were startled into silence.

He turned back to Ashlynn and took off his jacket, before laying it on her shoulders. “It’s cold here. You don’t want to catch a cold.” He wrapped his arm around her shoulder and turned to leave.

Humiliated, Meredith blocked their ways. “Corentin Lloyd, how dare you treat me like this?”

“I can do anything I want.”

Meredith could not be bothered by all the eyes watching them. She would only look more pathetic if she did not fight and if she won, she would be able to protect her pride.

“Corentin, you used to be different. You would often buy me gifts from time to time. Why did you change as soon as this woman showed up? How is she better than me?” Meredith questioned.

Ashlynn stared at Meredith quietly and thought, ‘Why else? Of course, it’s because the real Corentin has been replaced by someone else.‘

“We will talk about us later. Get out of my way.” Corentin did not intend on stopping.

Meredith stood her ground angrily. Fearing that the situation would escalate, the others hurried over to pull Meredith away.

Corentin left with Ashlynn in his arms and once they were inside the elevator, Ashlynn gave his jacket back and said, “You shouldn’t have crossed her.”

“If I was who I used to be, I would have slapped her across the face.” He smiled evilly.

“Indeed. I didn’t expect you to change this much.”

Salvatore used to be hot–tempered and no one would dare to risk crossing him, fearing that they would bring disaster upon themselves.

Corentin lowered his voice and said, “Don’t worry. I’m still the same man in bed.”

She turned her face away from him in disgust. “Your dad won’t be happy about this.”

“Does it look like I’m scared of him? He should be afraid of me.”

Just then, the small carrier Ashlynn was carrying moved. Her dog had pushed the zip open and poked its head out, looking around curiously.

Chapter 892

“Go back inside…” Ashlynn was about to stop it when Corentin grabbed it and lifted it to the air.

The dog struggled and she immediately snatched it away from his hand. “Don’t grab it like that.”

His expression darkened. “Someday I’m going to have it stewed and serve it to you.”

Her heart sank. “Why are you jealous of a dog? I just didn’t want it to bite you. Have you eaten?”

His irritation was instantly appeased. The elevator door opened and he walked in with her in his arms. “Let’s go to eat.”

He had reserved a five–star restaurant located on the ninth floor with glass windows surrounding them, guests would be able to dine while taking in the beautiful night view of the city.

The building was located in the center of the city, in the liveliest area.

“Show me what gift you bought,” Corentin said.

She did not know why he would be interested in that, but took it out of her purse anyway.

He opened the box and saw the bracelet inside. “Indeed,

it’s not expensive enough,” he said, before placing it into his own pocket.

“What are you doing?” She asked confusedly.

“My rule is that every piece of jewelry you own must cost at least ten thousand.”

“You know that I don’t spend money like that.”

“Learn to,” he said, “if you can’t, I will have the brands‘ sales deliver everything to the mansion for your picking. I have money now, and you are supposed to enjoy the finest things this world has to offer.”

Ashlynn used to feel moved when Salvatore told her that he would earn a lot of money for her, but all the sweet memories had turned bitter and became a burden to her.

“We are using the real Corentin’s money. What if he comes back and asks us to pay him back?” She asked.

Naturally, he could tell that she was trying to lure him into telling the truth. “Don’t worry. He will never come back.”

She lowered her eyes and sliced into the steak on her plate dazedly.

‘The real Corentin is never coming back…‘ she thought, does that mean that Salvatore killed him?‘

Suddenly, her plate was taken away and Corentin helped to slice her steak into bite–sized pieces.

Her heart raced in fear when she saw the way he held his knife, Corentin was more skilful with a knife than surgeon and once he was done, he pushed her plate back to her.

“You have no strength in your hands.”

Ashlynn did not agree. She could handle ordinary thugs, and would only be rendered helpless if she was fighting someone like Corentin.

She started eating and thought to herself with a glimmer of hope in her heart, ‘If Salvatore can become normal, maybe it won’t be so hard to survive by his side…‘

“I need to use the bathroom.” She got up and headed to the bathroom.

She washed her hands and stared at her reflection in the mirror, feeling trapped. She shook the water off her hands and walked outside.

“Ashlynn?”

She turned around and paled.

“Do you remember me? I’m Jackie from the slum.”

“You have the wrong person.” She turned to leave, but Jackie stood in her way.

“How could I not recognize you? You are definitely Ashlynn. Oh my, you look prettier than before. You got rich, didn’t you?” He scanned her up and down. The clothes on her back were clearly expensive and he knew that ordinary people would not be able to dine at such a restaurant.

Chapter 893

“What do you want?” She recognized the man right away and panicked slightly as she recalled the past.

Jackie was dressed in a different uniform than the waiters, to which she assumed was a janitor uniform.

“Let us catch up!” He drooled over her beauty. “You found yourself a rich man, haven’t you? Does your man know that you were pregnant once?”

Knowing that it was a threat, Ashlynn kept her distance to prevent him from touching her.

“Don’t worry. Be a good girl and I won’t tell anyone else.” He narrowed his eyes nastily and reached to grab her hand.

She swiftly moved away and landed a kick on his knee.

“Ah!” Jackie fell to his knees. Frustrated, he struggled to get up and pointed at Ashlynn. “You b*tch! I know that you still hold a grudge, but you wouldn’t have lost your child if you didn’t fight us!”

Not far away, a pair of black leather shoes came to a sudden halt.

She looked up and spotted Corentin standing in the distance with a dark expression. Her heart instantly began to race.

Not noticing Corentin’s presence, Jackie continued, Seriously. If you obeyed us, you wouldn’t have fallen down the stairs. That wasn’t our fault. You need to learn to be more flexible. Women have to be obedient if they don’t want to be harmed. That thug Salvatore wasn’t around and we could have protected you…

“Stop it!” She roared.

“What?” Finally sensing that something was wrong, he realized a vicious glare on him and turned to find Corentin’s face before him. Startled, he fell onto the ground as though he had seen a ghost.

Ignoring Jackie’s fear, Corentin walked toward Ashlynn. How did you lose the baby?”

Ashlynn knew that he had heard everything that Jackie said.

Losing all strength in his legs, Jackie could not stand up and tried to crawl away.

Corentin’s expression darkened as he turned around. ” How dare you try to run?” Before kicking Jackie in the stomach.

“Baam!”

Jackie spat blood when he bumped into the wall and wailed.

Corentin’s leg followed, landing on Jackie’s stomach over and over again.

“Ahhh!!!” Jackie screamed. His back was against the wall and with nowhere to run, he had taken each kick to its fullest power.

His wail soon attracted an audience, but no one dared to get any closer at how horrifying Corentin looked.

Ashlynn knew that Jackie would die if she did not stop Corentin.

“Corentin, stop it!” She grabbed him by the arm. “Stop it! You are going to kill him!”

“Get out of my way!” He shoved her aside.

She stumbled backward and stared blankly at Corentin, who attacked like a crazed beast.

She darted toward him and wrapped her arms around him. “Stop! I’m begging you!”

He stopped and breathed heavily, his expression ferocious like a monster.

She turned to look at Jackie and closed her eyes at the terrifying sight, before letting Corentin go and leaving.

Corentin shot a vicious look at the audience and commanded his men, “Clean this up!”

“Yes, sir!”

As soon as she ran out of the hotel, Corentin caught up to her and grabbed her by the wrist. “Where are you going?”

“Let me go, you monster!” She tried to shove him away, but failed miserably, so she kicked at him while moving to punch him near his ribs.

Chapter 894

Corentin dodged the attack and restrained her. “Ashlynn, did you really think you could beat me with the moves I taught you?”

“Let me go…” She resisted and panted.

Salvatore had been a great fighter and had no fear for death since a young age, so Ashlynn was hardly his match.

He dragged her to the parking lot and muttered, “The car isn’t here.”

The car had been driven out of the parking lot and he shoved her inside, before pinning her against the seat excitedly. “I knew it. You wouldn’t get an abortion. There was a reason you lost the baby!”

She stared at his expression and shivered. “No matter what, you shouldn’t have beaten him to that extent…”

“I shouldn’t have? He dared to try and force himself on you in my absence, causing you to lose our child. That kind of man deserves to die a million times!”

Ashlynn was disappointed. She had thought that perhaps Salvatore could change, but that was never possible because he was a monster by nature.

Just then, Corentin’s phone started vibrating. He let her go and sat down, before answering the call.

His expression darkened, and only managed to calm down after glancing at Ashlynn. “I can sleep with anyone I want. Even if I take Ashlynn out of the picture, there will be others. If she doesn’t like it, she can scram!”

“At least be more secretive. Is that so hard?” Cory questioned angrily. His ultimate intention was to tie the Lloyd Family with the Hilton family via marriage and if Corentin crossed Meredith, Cory would have to be the one to apologize.

Losing patience, Corentin said carelessly, “I got it.” He hung up. “That old twat is so annoying.”

Ashlynn knew who called and for what reason even if Corentin did not say a word.

Meredith had been humiliated and could not possibly give up.

Ashlynn had gone to the party out of good intentions, but soon realized that even high–born ladies could act like ordinary people. As educated as they might be, they were still human after all.

However, in Ashlynn’s perspective, the problem remained with Corentin, not Meredith.

He had not changed at all and had simply gotten better at pretending to be someone else. Once he lost control, he would turn back to the monster that he was like earlier.

“Don’t worry. You are my only wife. I don’t care about any other woman.”

“True. You come from a slum and a high–born lady like Meredith would have been someone of a different dimension to you if this was in the past,” Ashlynn said sarcastically.

He pressed his body closer to hers and grabbed her by the chin. “Don’t try to provoke me. I’m in a good mood today so I will overlook this.”

She instinctively resisted his touch, her heart twisting in fear when she thought back to what he did earlier. There was no sane person in the world who would want to be with such a monster.

‘Do I really have what it takes to investigate his background?‘ She thought, ‘Should I be thinking about getting away instead?‘

However, no matter how much thoughts she put into it,

there was only one way for her to truly be free, and that was to defeat Salvatore by revealing his true identity.

That was the only way she could walk out of her nightmare, like she did before.

“I want to work,” she said calmly after regaining her composure.

“As what? I have enough money for you to spend for a few lifetimes. Why bother going out there to work for someone else?”

“I don’t want to rely completely on someone. I graduated from college and I have all my limbs, so it’s hard for me to just sit at home and do nothing.”

“That’s true. I was the one who paid for your tuition.” He moved closer to her. “We can’t bury your talents.”

Chapter 895

Her eyes darted away.

She still remembered back when she achieved excellent academic results in high school and managed to obtain an offer from an Ivy league college. However, her parents refused to pay for the tuition because they felt that women were meant to get married and become a mother someday, so there was no need for her to study.

Ashlynn knew that the only way for her to crawl her way out of the slam was to be educated, so she went to collect trash for extra income.

The poker clubhouse held the most trash and that was where she ran into Salvatore.

“What are you thinking about?” He nipped at her lips.

Pained, she snapped out of her thoughts and glared at him.

“Do not let your mind wander when you are with me,” he commanded.

“I just…thought back to how I used to collect trash for a few extra bucks when in the slum. That’s when I first met you. You just shoved all the money you earned into my hands without a word…that was the first time I’ve ever seen so much money. I was terrified.”

He recalled the past and his lips curled into a smile, but Ashlynn’s following words wiped the smile off his face in an instant.

“If I had known that you are this kind of person, I would not have accepted that money. No, I should have stayed out of it when you were found dying in that alley.”

He pressed his body against hers. “It’s a shame that you can’t turn back time, then. You used to belong to Salvatore, and now, you belong to Corentin…”

He lowered his head to devour her lips.

“No…”

“I thought you wanted to work? Obey me,” he threatened.

She paused and when he took her lips again, she paled and instinctively tried to push him away. However, when she thought about the possibility of being able to work, she forced herself to stop and focused on cooperating.

The violence from earlier did not affect Corentin at all and seemed to have excited him. He narrowed his amber- colored eyes like a fierce wolf.

When they got out of the car, he carried Ashlynn, who had her dog in her arms, and went upstairs to their room.

After what they did along the way, the two headed directly into the bathroom and Corentin grabbed the dog, before tossing it out of the bathroom.

The dog fell on its back and by the time it managed to get back on its legs, the door was shut before its eyes.

It whined and though Ashlynn tried to escape Corentin, he had her pinned against the sink. “My dog…”

“It won’t die.”

At night, he held her powerless body in his arms and touched her belly. “You will be with a child soon and it’s going to be my heir. I will hunt down everyone who hurt you in the past and avenge our son.”

With her eyes closed, she heard every word he said and shivered.

Corentin’s vengeful character terrified her and sharing a monster’s bed felt like hell.

In the morning, Corentin woke up and noticed that Ashlynn was still deeply asleep next to him. He planted a kiss on her lips and picked up his watch to check the time.

”

Ever since he had Ashlynn back by his side, he would sometimes drown in an illusion that he was still Salvatore, who lived his life freely without a care.

After lazing around in bed for a few minutes, he got up.

He put on his shirt and buttoned it up. “You are going to be my assistant.”

Ashlynn had wanted to pretend like she was asleep until he left. “Your assistant?”

“Done with pretending to be asleep?” He teased.

Exposed, she muttered calmly, “…I want to work in a different company.

||

“There’s no better company than the Lloyd Group here in

Athetin. I would have taken it over if such companies existed.” He walked to the bed and his shadow loomed over her. “I feel better to have you next to me.”

“You haven’t inherited the Lloyd Group yet. Won’t your dad be upset if you do this?”

She knew that Cory hated her and it might offend him if Corentin tried to get her to work in his company.

“As if he can find another person to inherit his business.”

He straightened his back and tossed his necktie to her.” This is your duty now.”

She grabbed the necktie and tied it around his neck while he lifted his chin, revealing his Adam’s Apple.

As she moved her fingers through the knot, she considered his words and muttered, “Of course, he can’t find anyone else, since Mr. Faye is gone…” She froze, remembering that she had yet to check with Anne on whether Nigel’s murderer had been found.

‘Have they found who did it?‘ She thought, ‘Does Corentin have anything to do with this? If he does, then what Anne said on the phone the last time…I still haven’t found anything worth mentioning from Corentin though…

“What are you thinking? Do you think that I killed Nigel?”

Despite being exposed, she remained calm and denied it, No. I am just wondering how Anne is doing. Her dad passed away and her mom died shortly after. I’m worried about her.”

“If you have the time to worry about her, you should spend it thinking of ways to please your husband. I will take you to Luton when I have time.”
