Chapter 1491

He did not let go for a while and Anne kept her eyes closed as she gasped for air. “You…”

He stared at her face, as though he could never get tired of looking at her. He caressed her rosy cheek and said, “I won’t do anything. I just want to kiss you.”

Anne felt defeated as he said that every single time and always ended up getting exactly what he wanted. However, her will to resist was no longer as strong.

“Thank you. If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t have been able to rescue Yuri.”

“That’s it? Hm?” He narrowed his eyes dangerously as he stared into her soul.

She shivered, knowing exactly what Anthony wanted.

It was nothing, since they had slept together countless times before, but her mind drifted to the thought of Lucia.

Lucia was in love with Anthony and to have another woman interfering with their relationship would be a torture.

Anne lowered her gaze. “If…you have another woman, you need to leave me alone. All I’ve ever wanted was to be with my kids.”

She no longer wanted her heart to waver at the slightest hint.

“Are you referring to Lucia?”

Anne jolted, not expecting Anthony to bring it up on his own and was instantly rendered. speechless.

“I…I’m not saying that you can’t find another woman. I just…”

He interrupted her forcefully, “Do you want me to see other women?”

Feeling a lump in her throat, she said, “You like someone else…”

“The person I like has always been you,” he interrupted her once again.

She opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out.

‘He…likes me? Always? But why? Has Anthony ever truly loved me? He hates me and tortures me for fun. That’s the complete opposite of liking someone…’ She thought.

“Lucia just looks like you. I let her stay in the mansion and look at her whenever I miss you. too much. I’ve never done anything with her or touched any other women throughout the past two years,” he said hoarsely, “I only want you.” 1

Anne stared into Anthony’s bloodshot eyes, her chest tightening.

She never knew that this was how he felt about her. “…But don’t you hate me?”

“No. I don’t. I’ve always loved you. I was a fool…” Anthony cupped her cheeks and planted a kiss onto her lips.

Tears welled in her eyes as she accepted the kiss and wondered if this was the reason why Anthony’s hair turned gray overnight.

He pulled her closer in his arms and swore to never let her go, while Anne sobbed into his chest.

Just as the two enjoyed the moment of peace, Anthony’s phone started vibrating. He refused to move, but Anne shoved at him and pulled away.

“Answer your phone…”

Anthony kept one arm around Anne and answered the phone with another, his eyes trained on her the entire time.

Someone on the other end of the line said something, and Anthony’s expression darkened.

At the hospital, Yuri’s body was covered by a large piece of white fabric and the scent of blood filled the room, hinting on the inhumane torture that had taken place in this very

room.

Anne collapsed onto the ground when she saw Yuri’s lifeless body. “Yuri!”

Anthony immediately went over to support her weight.

 

Chapter 1492

Yuri had died a painful death and Anne broke down in tears at the sight.

Anthony carried her outside and ordered his men to look into it as they exited the hospital.

Tears were still streaming down Anne’s cheeks when they went into the car.

Anthony pulled her closer and promised, “I’ll look into this.”

She pulled away. “It has to be the people from Tianya who did it. It has to be! They aren’t human! They can just murder the assassins they trained without hesitation!”

“There is a high possibility that the masked man we killed was just a decoy,” he said.

Anne froze as she recalled the masked man’s voice and height, but could not find difference from the leader she remembered as they looked exactly the same.

“When we took his mask off, something felt off and I thought that I was overthinking,” he continued. “As the leader of an assassin association, he died too easily.”

“So you are saying that the leader of Tianya found someone to act as him to lure me out. Maybe…you are a part of his plan as well.”

“Yeah.”

Anne was devastated. Had she been more careful, Yuri would not have died.

“I did this to her…” She covered her face and sobbed.

Anthony held her close once again. “This is not your fault. I am going to find that man.”

She nodded and struggled to calm herself.

They returned to the hotel and Anthony handed her a glass of water while stroking her back in a comforting manner. “Have some water.”

She took a sip to regain her composure, before proceeding to explain when it had happened. “Back then…the masked man caught me and ignited the bomb on the helicopter when it passed the sea, so that he could cause a diversion to kidnap me. On that island, anyone who tries to escape will be shot on sight, but they won’t tell you that. It was Yuri who warned me when I tried to escape. I came close to giving up so many times during the training because I was just too hard, but Yuri asked me if I wanted to survive or die there. I told her that I wanted to go home to my children and that I can’t die. After that, Yuri would always look after me during training. Without her, I would have been dead by now, yet I’ve failed to protect her…”

Guilt grew like weed within Anne and her tears slipped into her glass.

Anthony moved closer and planted a kiss on her forehead. “How did you escape in the end? “He asked

“One of the assassins was tracked back to the island. We don’t know who came but they got into a fight with the people on the island and we took our chance to run.”

“Someone turned his nest upside down, so I assume that there’s nothing useful for us on that island. I’m getting to the bottom of this and I’m finding the culprit who has been pulling the strings.” He planted another kiss on her forehead. “Stay by my side. Don’t go anywhere.”

Anne froze.

Not wanting her to misunderstand, he added, “You are free to go anywhere, but it’s safer to stay by my side, no?”

“…Yeah.” She agreed, not having other excuses to refuse.

After settling all matters related to Yuri, Anne followed Anthony back to Luton, while Anthony’s subordinates continued to look for people related to Tianya. The masked man could travel to Luton at any time, so they would still have to be on guard.

Chapter 1493

The triplets walked out of school and spotted Anne waiting by the car. They hurried over, shouting in unison, “Mama!”

Anne could not hold all three of them at once and could only crouch to wrap her arms around their bodies.

“When did you come back, Mama?”

“You didn’t tell us that you were leaving. We were worried.”

“It’s good that you came home.”

“I went to handle something and came home once that’s done,” Anne explained.

“Oh… will you leave again?” Chloe asked.

Anne glanced at Anthony. “No.”

“You have to keep your words, Mama.”

“Or we are going to cry.”

“We will keep crying until you come back.”

“We will cry until we die,” Chloe added.

Anne chuckled. “Promise.”

They took the triplets and left the school.

Back in the Royal Mansion, an unfamiliar car was parked outside the gate and Hayden. came out to welcome the family, before explaining, “Mr. Marwood, Mr. Tommy is here.”

They headed into the living room and spotted Tommy sitting on the couch while watching. romantic dramas. His lips curled into a smile when he spotted Anthony, Anne and the triplets.

He took out three gifts and presented them to the triplets. “I got you gifts. Open them and see if you like them.”

Inside the boxes were diamonds of different colors.

“Why would you get them diamonds?” Anne asked with resignation, knowing that the diamonds must have cost fortunes.

“If

your parents refuse to give you money, you can sell those,” Tommy said.

Anthony took off his jacket expressionlessly and handed it to Hayden.

“You’ve just come home from overseas, right?” Tommy asked.

Anne paled slightly and did not respond.

“Anthony, Hayden said that you were on a business trip and Anne followed you there?” Tommy asked. When Anthony refused to answer, he walked over to Anne. “What did your two do?”

Before Anne could say anything, Anthony pulled her into his arms and stared at Tommy sharply. “You need something?”

“I just care for the two of you. Anthony, why are you so tense?”

Anthony pinched the skin on Anne’s waist gently and said, “Go be with the kids while they work on their homework. We will call you when the food is ready.”

“Alright.” Knowing that Anthony did not want her in their conversation, she took the triplets to the study room.

Tommy watched as the four disappeared into the distance and turned his attention back to Anthony. “Something you need to say, Anthony?”

“You seem to know with certainty that Anne is back.” Anthony narrowed his eyes coldly, already knowing the answer.

Tommy looked away briefly. “Did Anne not mention it to you?”

“About what?” Anthony remained expressionless.

“Back when I was out of the country, I ran into her being drugged and ambushed,” Tommy said after a moment of hesitation. “I didn’t tell you about it because Anne wouldn’t let me. She didn’t want to return to you. Since you’ve asked, I can’t lie or you would suspect that something is going on between Anne and I.”

Anthony knew about the past events long ago and though he was appreciative that Tommy had saved Anne, he saw no point in allowing the two to be in contact with one another when unnecessary.

“Don’t get close to her. See him out, Hayden.” Anthony left the study room.

“You are so merciless, Anthony!” Tommy protested, but Anthony simply ignored him and left.

Chapter 1494

Tommy did not stay for long after Anthony had decided to chase him out.

Meanwhile, the triplets were working on their homework in the study room while Anne kept them company.

Anthony insisted on sitting in the same chair as Anne and when she tried to get up, he wrapped his arm around her to keep her from escaping.

The heat of his skin radiated through their joined skins, burning into her soul.

She glared at him to remind him that they were in the presence of their children.

“Go wash your hands and get ready to eat,” Anthony said.

“Mama, are you coming with us?” Chloe invited.

“She will go later,” Anthony said in Anne’s place.

The triplets were slightly upset, but obeyed regardless.

As soon as the door closed, Anthony narrowed his eyes and pressed his lips against Anne’s hastily.

“Umph…” She flushed a crimson shade at the sudden assault.

Anthony licked every corner in her mouth, relishing the sensation.

Anne could sense her body changing and shivering in response to his movement. She could tell that her reaction did not come from fear, but nervousness.

Anthony had become someone she was not familiar with, but her heart felt at peace whenever she was with him.

‘Has he really changed?’ She thought, ‘Is he going to turn back into the same monster as he was in the past?”

She still had a hard time forgetting the ruthless looks that were often seen in his eyes.

“Umph!” A stinging sensation came from her tongue and she sobered, wondering if Anthony was trying to devour her whole.

He pulled away slightly and stared into her eyes. “How dare you think about something else while we are kissing? You need to be punished.”

Anne slowly came to realize that she had been moved to sit on Anthony’s lap and her heart raced. “Let’s…go eat. The kids are waiting,” she struggled to speak.

“They can wait. it’s fine.” He rubbed his finger against her lips.

Sensing the temperature rising inside the room, her breath caught between her lungs. To ease her nerves, she changed the subject and asked, “Um…what did you talk to Tommy

about?”

“I asked him about the time he ran into you overseas.”

“If it wasn’t for him, Tianya would have captured me again.” Anne scowled and asked, “Why did you follow me? Are you still trying to control me?”

Anthony rubbed on the skin on the thenar web space on Anne’s hands. “You have a callus. here. Only people who hold guns do.”

She instinctively wanted to pull away.

“It’s fine. I know.” He tightened his grip, refusing to let her get away.

Anne pursed her lips, feeling slightly timid as he played with her hands.

Instead of fearing that her past would be discovered, she instinctively wondered if Anthony would like her less when her hands were not as soft as they once were.

“You won’t tell the truth if I asked, so I placed a tracker in your clothes,” Anthony said. “It’s a good thing that I did.”

Anne shot him a helpless glare. “Don’t do that again…”

Anthony’s heart raced at the look on her face and planted another kiss onto her lips, determined to not let her out of the study room until he realized that Anne might be starving.

Chapter 1495

Anne stayed with the triplets at night to watch over them as they continued working on their homework.

She did not need to offer guidance in anything and it was in general rather relaxing.

Anne sat quietly, relishing the peaceful moment with her children.

Since Anthony had left the country for a time, he was occupied with all the piled-up work. Still, he did not head to the office and insisted on working in the study room.

Anne’s mind drifted away as she considered what might happen at night.

‘Are we sleeping in separate rooms, or… She thought, her heart racing.

Anthony would have never let her out of the study room earlier if dinner was not ready, which meant Anthony would have no reason to let her go later at night.

“Mama, why is your face red?” Chloe asked.

“She’s probably hot!” Charlie said.

Chris batted his eyes in confusion.

Anne was about to explain herself when her phone rang.

She picked up the phone and noticed that it was an unknown number. Alarmed, she patted Chris on the head and said, “I’m going to answer this. Focus on your homework.” She then proceeded to head out to the balcony. “Hello.”

“You are lucky to have escaped.” It was a familiar-sounding altered voice.

Anne jolted. “You killed Yuri! Why?”

“Because you lied.”

“That’s why you had to kill her?” Anne was furious, knowing that the man was referring to how she appeared with the severed head of someone else.

“You need to be punished if you do something wrong. That’s the rules in Tianya.”

“You killed someone I cared for and I won’t ever work for you again. That’s my rule!”

“Aren’t you curious as to why I’m using a number in your country?”

Anne tightened her grip around her phone. “You followed me here?”

“I only have one command. Finish the mission I gave you and you will be free.”

Anthony’s death was the only thing that could bring an end to everything.

Anne’s chest heaved and was about to respond, when her phone was snatched out of her hand. She turned around to find Anthony standing behind her.

“You want to kill me? Do it yourself instead of hiding around like a rat,” Anthony spoke into the phone and the man hung up without responding.

“Ignore him,” Anthony said.

Anne looked away. “I’m not going to kill you.”

“Why not?”

“Why not? That’s a weird question. You are the father of my children. How can I kill you?”

“And if I’m not?”

“Why do you mean? You are their father,” she retorted.

Anthony stared into her eyes. “Anne, you know exactly what I want to hear.”

Anne panicked and thought to herself, ‘Anthony said that he loves me, but what about me? Do I love him? If I confess my love for him, I can never be the same.’

“I’m going back to the kids.” She ran back to the study room, where the triplets waited with their doe- like eyes trained on the door.

“Are you done with your hom-” Before Anne could sit down, she was pulled aside. “You…”

“Do your homework and go to sleep once you are done,” Anthony ordered, before taking Anne away, leaving the triplets behind to gape in confusion.
