Chapter 1496

“Umph…” Anne was taken back to the master bedroom and he immediately pinned her against the sofa, while setting her phone down on the table and staring at the nervous look on her face.

“Let’s continue what we were talking about,” he muttered hoarsely.

Anne’s mind fell into chaos, but knew exactly what he was referring to. However, it was hard to think of anything but the man in front of her.

“I already told you…”

“I’m not happy with your answer.” Anthony bent down until his face was close enough for his breath to caress the skin on her cheek.

The burning sensation left Anne gasping for air.

“Tell me that you won’t kill me because you care about me.” He studied her face and lips intently, as though he was touching her with his eyes alone.

“Anthony…” Her voice caught between her throat. Just as she thought that her heart was about to leap out of her chest, her phone on the coffee table rang.

Anne saw that as her cue to escape. “G-Get up. I need to check on that…” She shoved at Anthony.

“Is the text more important than me? Hm?” He rubbed his lips against hers.

Anne’s cheeks burnt. “Anthony…umph!”

He sealed her lips and explored her mouth in depth.

Anne panted as she lost all strength, feeling as though she was being slowly devoured.

“Anthony…umph…” Unable to make a coherent sentence, he kissed her passionately as though he was a beast that had been starved for years.

Anne’s phone rang once again, only this time, it was a phone call. When the first call was not answered, another followed.

Anthony, who wanted to take Anne into the bathroom, narrowed his eyes coldly and reached for the phone to answer it, all the while nibbling on Anne’s petal-soft lips.

“Are you not going to watch the video? You will be surprised.” An altered man’s voice came through.

Knowing that it would not be a pleasant surprise, Anthony stopped and looked up viciously. He took one last nibble at Anne’s lips and let her go. “Do you have a death wish?”

Anthony turned on the video that the man had sent to Anne and saw Lucia on the ground with nothing but her underwear, screaming for help.

Anne jolted in shock at the sight of the person in the video. She sat up to reach for her phone and muttered, “Lucia…”

Anthony kept the phone out of her reach and stood. “I will resolve this.”

“No. This is my fault. That man is coming after me,” Anne said hastily.

“He wants to kill me. How is he after you?” Anthony narrowed his eyes darkly.

Anne was instantly rendered speechless.

He caressed her cheek with focus and mumbled, “Anyone who dares to bully you is my enemy.”

Chapter 1497

Anne thought about it. “If we go together, they are definitely going to be alarmed. We can’t give him the chance to be prepared, or Lucia will be in danger. Let me give him a call and see what he says. We can decide what to do after that.” She grabbed the phone and dialed the number from earlier.

“I will come in exchange for Lucia. How is that?” Anne asked.

“Yeah. I won’t quit Tianya and I will leave with you. Just don’t hurt anyone around me,” Anne said, sensing the tension in the room rising as Anthony’s expression darkened.

“Sure.”

“Give me an address and I will come. You are in this country right now, right?” She asked.

“No. Your colleagues are, though. Go to Roselle Street. There should be a phone in the locker of the mall. Once you get to the phone, I will teach you how to shake Anthony Marwood off.”

“Now?”

“What’s the issue?”

“I might alert Anthony if I leave at night.”

“I’ll give you twenty-four hours, then. Don’t give me an excuse to change my mind,” the man. said, before hanging up.

To avoid being suspected of anything, Arme did not place the phone on speaker and said to Anthony, “I’m leaving in the middle of the night. You can’t follow me, or they might

notice.”

“I don’t want Lucia to die. First, Yuri. Now, Lucia. Who’s next? Have you forgotten that we still have three children? What if they target our children, too?” Anne wished that Anthony

was unaware of what happened so that she could act without hesitation.

“Is this Tianya’s way of doing things?” Anthony questioned sharply.

Anne froze, before considering his question.

Every time there had been a mission, Tianya would only focus on the target and had never targeted family members. However, they had killed Yuri and kidnapped Lucia in order to kill Anthony.

“If this isn’t their usual way of doing things, this man has something personal against me.” “You’ve crossed Tianya?” She asked, as that was the only possible explanation.

“The only thing I can think of is taking you away. I’ve never encountered them in the past,” he said, “have you seen the leader’s face?”

“No. He keeps his mask on the entire time. No one on the island has ever seen his true face either,” Anne said.

“This type of person usually has two faces, one that you can see and the other, you can’t,” Anthony said, “perhaps I’ve crossed the side of him that’s supposed to stay hidden in the dark.”

“Maybe he is from Luton?” Anne suggested.

Anne was not pleased to learn how important she was to Anthony, knowing that she could. not gamble with Lucia’s life.

Lucia had not done anything wrong and Anthony was the reason why she was kidnapped in the first place, which meant that he needed to bear the responsibility for it.

Anthony’s shadow loomed over her as he wrapped his arms around her body, his eyes filled with viciousness. “Don’t think about it. I won’t agree to it.”

Knowing that arguing further would not help, she buried her face into his chest while trying to find a different approach.

She had twenty-four hours left.

The night passed and instead of heading to Archduke Group, Anhtony remained in the

Royal Mansion to work.

Anne could sense that Anthony was trying to prevent her from running. She knew that he had been monitoring her phone calls as well, or he would not have been able to appear in time when she received the call from the leader of Tianya.

Anne sat in the balcony dazedly when she heard footsteps approaching. “Do you want to pick the kids up together?”

“It’s still too early for that, right?” Anne said, since it had only been an hour since lunch.

“We can walk around before heading over to pick them up.” He wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her down to his lap.

Anne looked up and stared at him seductively.

They had only slept next to one another the night before and had not done anything beyond that.

“Isn’t it dangerous to go outside now?” She asked.

They were so close that he could practically taste her as she spoke. He took in her sweet scent and stared at her lips, before swallowing hard.

Soon, Anne noticed something poking at her and flushed.

“Don’t move…” He muttered hoarsely.

Ever since Anne left, he had been alone and could easily lose control of his restraints.

Anne tensed and mumbled, “You pervert…”

Anthony chuckled and pulled her even closer until their lips were almost touching. “How so? I want you even if I’m just looking at you, not to mention having you in my arms like this,” he narrowed his eyes dangerously.

“Why? Haven’t you slept with anyone else in my absence?” She questioned in disbelief.

Anne instantly understood what he meant by that and shivered as though she was about to shatter into pieces from his words alone.

Anthony could not help but wonder if she would crumble if they truly became intimate again and his breath caught.

“I don’t want t- Umph!” Anthony captured her lips before she could finish her sentence and he proceeded to devour her.

Anne closed her eyes and accepted the kiss as she instinctively wrapped her arm around. his neck. Anthony’s hands felt as though they were on fire and despite her effort of trying to move away, he simply held her closer until they could feel each other’s heartbeat.

“I’m taking you back to the room.” Unable to take it any longer, Anthony lifted her up and headed into the room.

Anne was panting slightly into the crook of his neck with a red flush on her cheek, her head spinning.

Once they were inside the room, Anthony kicked the door shut and tossed her onto the bed.

“Ah!” Before she had the chance to react, he pressed his body down against her again and captured her lips.

“Umph…” Feeling all strength draining from her body, she relaxed underneath him.

Just as Anthony sank into the sensation, he felt a prick at the back of her neck and tensed at the light- headedness that overwhelmed him. “You…”

Anne panted as tears gathered in her eyes. She put away the needle she was holding and said, “All assassins in Tianya keep their needles close-by wherever they go. I’m sorry…”

“Don’t go…” He held onto her wrist, knowing what she was planning to do. “I won’t agree to this!” He roared as he trembled to overcome the dizziness.

“Go to sleep. I will take care of this.”

Anthony could no longer respond as he was not immune to drugs.

He tried to reach for his phone, but collapsed before that.

Anne held onto him as tears scrolled down her cheek. “If I’m gone, raise the kids and…find someone you like. Forget about me…” She planted a gentle kiss on his cheek and moved his body to the side.

Anne took one last look at his face as though she was trying to memorize the moment, before leaving reluctantly.
