Ch. 1386..1390: Powerful Papa with Triplet Babies Chapter 1386-1390
Chapter 1386
Ashlynn knew that this was the only way to stop Corentin and when she turned her face, she met Corentin’s dark, vicious eyes.
He stood in rage, but had somehow managed to contain his temper.
The family doctor arrived shortly after to check on Ashlynn, before helping her up from the ground slowly. The doctor pressed on her back gently and Ashlynn gasped, trembling.
“It’s a good thing that her bones didn’t take the damage. If she was hit on the spine, she might have to spend the rest of her life on a bed,” the doctor said.
Corentin had struck with all his might, aiming to cause as much damage as possible.
Both worried and furious, Beth stared at Corentin with resentment and was determined to make him pay
for it.
“The soft tissue took some damage, though, so she needs to be on bedrest for a while,” the doctor
continued.
Beth decisively said to Marshall. “Take Ashlynn home.”
Marshall was thinking the same and went over to lift Ashlynn up
Sensing that Corentin was approaching, Beth stood in his way. “Corentin Lloyd, don’t think that I’m going to be scared of you simply because you are the heir to the Lloyd Family. You have injured Ashlynn, and I won’t forget that!”
Corentin narrowed his eyes viciously.
Worried that the situation would escalate further as crossing the Hiltons would damage the Lloyd Family’s standing in Athetin, he said, “Corentin, just give up. If the Hiltons want to take Ashlynn home, I’m sure that they can take care of her. Don’t worry. Ashlynn will be back once she recovers. Sorry for the trouble, Beth. Marshall.”
Beth could not be bothered to respond and took Marshall’s arm. “Let’s go!”
Someone had successfully taken Ashlynn away from Corentin’s side and it was the first time that had. ever happened.
Corentin’s eyes glittered evilly, deciding that there was a need to look into what Beth said when she was
panicking.
“Are you really married to Ashlynn?” Cory asked.
“Why, you want to send your heir back to the slum? You are not young anymore. Stop dreaming,” Corentin said, before turning to leave.
Cory was furious. He had thought that he could control Corentin, only to realize that he was the one being. controlled
Corentin was right. Cory held no leverage, while Corentin had countless possibilities in the future.
Once Corentin was inside the car, he made a call to one of his subordinates. “Get me all the information related to Beth Wallace’s lost daughter.”
He leaned back into the chair with his eyes closed.
He had felt from the start that Beth’s attitude toward Ashlynn was abnormal when Beth challenged him directly for Ashlynn’s sake.
Beth had shown love for Ashlynn as though Ashlynn was a part of her family, especially when Ashlynn was injured earlier Beth had lost her temper right away and it was enough proof that Ashlynn was someone special to her
Ashlynn grew up in the slum and was adopted, so Corentin suspected that Beth might be her biological
mother
Ashlynn returned to the room that the Hiltons prepared for her and felt slightly embarrassed by how youthful the decorations looked After all, she was not a teenager anymore and was not certain if such a style would be appropriate for her age.
Beth and Marshall did not seem to notice it and placed her on the bed.
Chapter 1387
Beth sat by the bed, while Marshall stood next to her
Jeremy hurried back and saw Ashlynn lying in bed. “Did Corentin hit you? I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have provoked him.”
Beth turned to stare at him. “What did you do?”
Jeremy looked away
Marshall scowled. “Your mom is asking you a question.”
“I kissed Ashlynn on the forehead in front of Corentin on purpose, Jeremy confessed.
“Corentin is far too arrogant and I understand the urge to challenge him, but you should not have gotten Ashlynn involved. What were you thinking?” Beth said mercilessly
“I won’t do it again…” Jeremy said sheepishly. “What did Corentin do, though? Are
you hurt?”
Marshall explained what happened earlier and Jeremy blurted out, “Mom, that didn’t happen because of me! It was you!”
“Shut it!” Marshall roared, silencing Jeremy effectively.
Beth turned to look at Ashlynn worriedly. “You shouldn’t have gotten in the middle of that. What am I supposed to do if you took damage to the bones? Can you tell me why you did that?”
“I…I don’t know either I wasn’t thinking…” Ashlynn said.
“I know. I know…” Beth’s tears threatened to fall.
Ashlynn did not understand what Beth meant, since neither Ashlynn herself could understand why she did such a thing.
“Rest and recover here.” Marshall said. “Let us know if you need anything and we will buy them for you.”
“1. I’m fine.” Ashlynn’s back hurt, but since her bones were not damaged, she figured that she would recover even if she did not rest.
“No. Rest. Stop making me feel more guilty than I already am,” Beth said sorrowfully with a sniffle.
Okay Ashlynn was amazed by how kind they were toward her, and still could not fully comprehend the situation even after Beth and Marshall left the room.
They seemed overly kind to her and Beth’s reaction when she collapsed onto the ground still lingered in
her mind.
“What are you thinking about?” Jeremy waved his hand in front of her.
Ashlynn sobered and said, “Your parents are too kind to me.”
“You’ve protected her and I’m sure that she’s deeply touched by it,” Jeremy said. “You’ve practically saved her life.”
“That’s an overstatement.”
“Not at all. In any case, you are going to be my parents’ favorite from now on. By the way, what’s with this ring?” Jeremy had spotted the diamond ring on Ashlynn’s finger.
She pursed her lips. “Corentin and I have been married for a while, actually.”
She could not tell if Jeremy was romantically interested in her, but realized that informing him about it would help prevent further misunderstanding.
“What?!” Jeremy shouted. “For how long?”
“Three months ago.”
“So we haven’t even met at the time?” Jeremy thought about it and said, “Which means he organized that engagement party with Meredith despite being married to you? Is he insane?”
“He is,” Ashlynn said.
Jeremy shot her a confused and troubled look. “Who exactly does he see you as? Are you not angry at all? Oh, right, you don’t get to be angry. So you’ve been his wife all along, huh? What do you plan to do now? Go back and keep being his wife?”
“It’s my fate. I’ve come to accept it.” Ashlynn lowered her gaze.
Jeremy could tell that Ashlynn was forced into the marriage and was frustrated to learn how complicated the situation was.
Chapter 1388
It was easy to get married, but much harder to get a divorce.
After leaving the room, Beth had finally calmed down and asked Marshall, “Was was I being too hysterical? Will Little Crescent suspect us?”
“She is our daughter and it’s normal for us to be worried Besides, we will have to tell her the truth sooner or later We can’t just keep her in the dark forever
Beth was nervous “If she finds out that we are her actual parents, will she resent us? Especially after all the things I did to her Marshall, I’m just so so scared I’ve never been scared of anything in my life but this..
“We didn’t know She will understand She is willing to stay here with us, which means she doesn’t resent
us.*
She thought about it and said, “Also, tell Meredith not to come here so often. I don’t want Little Crescent to be upset. We owe her far too much and I can’t even imagine how she survived the slum.
“Sure.”
Corentin had not called ever since Ashlynn went to the Hiltons, but she felt unsettled by it because that was not at all like Corentin to let others take her away to begin with.
‘Was it because of how insistent Beth was? She thought.
Servants would bring food up to her room every day and though she was treated the same way in Corentin’s mansion, the Hiltons were a different story.
Corentin was merely a psychopath who enjoyed toying with others, while the Hiltons were supposed to be strangers to her The kinder they were to her, the more suspicious she grew
She noticed that ever since she had come, Marshall had gone to the office so that Beth could stay home, despite how busy she was at work in the past.
At noon, Ashlynn went down the stairs and caught a delicious scent.
She followed the scent to the kitchen and saw Beth making soup while the cook guided her, it was apparent that it was Beth’s first-time cooking.
“It tastes good. I’m sure Ashlynn will like this.” Beth had a taste and was satisfied.
Ashlynn silently backed away, unable to wrap her head around the sudden change of the Hiltons’ attitude, not to mention that Beth had gone to the lengths of cooking for her
She noticed that the door to Beth’s study room was open and felt drawn into it.
The study room was spacious with a lot of natural lighting.
She glanced around, before a photo frame on the office desk caught her attention.
Ashlynn picked it up and realized it was a family photo of Beth, Marshall and a boy in Beth’s arms. There was a little girl that had been cut from another photo and stuck onto Marshall to look like he was holding
her
The girl had two braids on her cheeks and looked adorable in her rosy cheeks.
In a different photo, Beth and Marshall were facing the camera with the same girl in Beth’s arm.
Ashlynn’s heart raced at the sight of the little girl and backed away in shock, the frame falling onto the
ground with a loud “thud!
She stood dazedly
Beth hurried over at the sound, and walked over to Ashlynn. “Why are you out of bed? You. “Beth panicked for a moment when she saw the shattered frame on the ground and crouched down to pick it up so that Ashlynn would not see the photo inside.
“Did you hurt your hand? Let me see…” Beth reached for Ashlynn’s hands, but Ashlynn moved away from her touch and kept her eyes trained on Beth.
Feeling uncomfortable, Beth muttered, “What…what is it?”
Chapter 1389
“Why are you so kind to me?” Ashlynn asked, emotions overwhelming her.
“Because we have adopted you, so we.”
“Are you still going to lie to me?” Ashlynn interrupted her, panting as pain pierced through her chest. “Back when I was little, my adopted parents took a family photo with me and though I was a little older than this little girl in the photos, I can still tell that I looked exactly like her!”
Knowing that she could not deceive Ashlynn any longer, Beth closed her eyes sorrowfully and opened
them again, tears of regret filling her eyes. “I’m sorry, my Little Crescent. It’s my fault that you went missing…
Ashlynn had thought that she might have been mistaken as children could look alike at a young age, but when Beth admitted to it, tears scrolled down Ashlynn’s eyes.
“How did you find out?”
“Your brother Jeremy found the crescent birthmark on your back and did a paternity test…” Beth looked at
her.
“So, all of you knew and I was the only one in the dark?”
“Only your dad, Jeremy and I know. I haven’t told your grandfather. He would be over the moon if he finds out. Losing you wasn’t just a traumatic experience to us, but also to your grandfather for the past
years… Beth walked over to take Ashlynn’s hands. “You are a lady of the Hilton Family, Little Crescent. Come back to us and you will never have to suffer again.”
Ashlynn did not know how to react to the sudden development. Some part of her blamed her parents and she moved away from Beth’s hands once again.
“Crescent?” Beth mumbled in devastation. “Please don’t hate me. I will make it up to you. Please don’t go…”
Ashlynn studied the despair on Beth’s face, the strong, powerful woman she knew looked extremely fragile and for reasons she could not begin to explain, Ashlynn’s heart ached at the sight.
Perhaps it was the bond of the blood that connected them..
Ashlynn lowered her gaze and turned to leave.
“Crescent… Beth called out. “You are still injured. Don’t go.”
Ashlynn struggled to move her feet. “I…I’m fine. I just need to cool down.” She ran outside and came close to bumping into someone.
She looked up and saw Aunt Cher.
Aunt Cher had stayed in the hospital for the past two days. She had thought that getting a concussion from an asylum patient had been bad enough, coming home and finding Ashlynn running toward her had worsened her mood. “Ugh!”
Ashlynn ignored her and ran outside.
Aunt Cher returned to the living room and saw Beth sitting on the couch blankly. “Mrs. Hilton, what’s wrong?”
“Why didn’t you rest a few more days?” Beth asked dazedly.
“The doctor said that I’m fine now.”
Beth did not respond and seemed dazed. Noticing her reddened eyes, Aunt Cher realized that Beth had
been crying.
“Did Ashlynn do something wrong? Mrs. Hilton, I’m telling you, this Ashlynn girl is capable of.” Aunt Cher mumbled.
Beth interrupted her and said, “She is just like me.”
“What?”
Beth looked up with determination. “Ashlynn is my long lost daughter, Crescent. She is a lady and the future heiress of the Hilton Family. I will announce this to all of Athetin soon so that she can be officially welcomed into this family.”
Aunt Cher was stunned. “Mrs. Hilton, have…have you been mistaken?”
Chapter 1390
“We’ve already done a paternity test.”
Aunt Cher’s suspicion was instantly denied and instead of feeling glad for them, she was furious and
worried, she was worried for Meredith and furious that the woman they despised became the long-lost heiress to the Hilton Family.
It was a hard pill to swallow.
Ashlynn caught a taxi to a random street and wandered around until it started raining, so she went to sit down at a bus stop and stared outside dazedly, occupied with thoughts.
She had always known that she was adopted.
Every time her adoptive parents would get mad at her or beat her, though she could somehow manage. them with certain tricks, she would still think of her biological parents when she was alone.
She would picture their appearances, their personalities and background. She had thought that her real family was in deeper poverty than the ones in the slum, or they would not have abandoned her.
Some people even told her that she might have been abandoned because she was a girl instead of a boy.
The truth could not be more different than what she had imagined.
Her family was the powerful Hilton Family and when she found out that Beth and Marshall were her actual parents, she did not resent them, all she felt was bitterness and heartache.
Jeremy had mentioned that Beth suffered from depression after losing her daughter and needed medication to go to sleep at night. It took Beth years to slowly recover, and they had never stopped looking for their daughter, but their search bore no results throughout the years.
It was only reasonable that they failed to find her. No one would have expected that she had ended a slum.
The human trafficker was the culprit who caused the tragedy.
up
in
Had she not been sold, she would not have grown up in the slum, nor would she come to know Salvatore.
Just as she sank into despair in tears, a car stopped before the bus station and a man came out with a black umbrella.
She spotted a pair of expensive-looking leather shoes that were polished to perfection and looked up to meet Corentin’s dark eyes.
“Why are you so upset?” He asked tauntingly.
Without a moment of hesitation, Ashlynn turned to leave but was grabbed by the arm and dragged. backward to stand under the umbrella.
Ashlynn wanted to pull away from his restraint, but he simply pulled her back again harder than the time before. She slammed against his chest, aching from the brute force and hitting his stone-like chest,
She did not dare to back away again, knowing that Corentin would only try harder to stop her.
“What exactly do you want?!” She roared.
“Why are you here? I thought you were recovering at the Hiltons?” Corentin locked her in place against his chest and narrowed his eyes as he studied her face.
“How is that any of your business?” Ashlynn was not In the mood for his games.
He sneered viciously, before dragging her into the car.
