Ch. 1391..1395: Powerful Papa with Triplet Babies Chapter 1391-1395
Chapter 1391
“Ah!” Ashlynn was thrown into the car and Corentin’s towering height blocked the lights from the bus station.
Once his subordinate took the umbrella away, he went inside and closed the door. Before long, the car drove into the rain.
Raindrops fell onto the car windows, shattering when they hit the glass, transforming into streams of water that resembled tears.
“You think that you can challenge me now that you have the Hiltons to back you up?” Corentin smirked.” You know me, don’t you?”
“What do you want!?” Ashlynn roared furiously,
Instead of getting upset, Corentin remained composed as though he had seen right through Ashlynn. Just as Ashlynn was confused as to what he wanted, he reached over to grab her by the wrist and pulled so that she fell onto his lap. He then lifted her top and revealed the crescent shaped birthmark on her back.
He narrowed his eyes coldly.
“What are you doing?” She tried to get up, but Corentin pinned her down.
Ignoring her protest, he stared at the birthmark intently.
He prided himself for knowing Ashlynn’s body even better than herself. Forget any birthmark, he would know where the smallest mole she had was located.
However, he still needed to confirm again after learning the truth and as expected, Ashlynn was the long- lost daughter of the Hilton family, who ended up in the slum.
“Salvatore, let me go!” She flushed and gritted out.
Hearing his actual name, he loosened his grip and Ashlynn immediately sat up to move as further away from him as possible to pull her clothes down.
“What is wrong with you?”
“You are not going to the Hiltons’ again,” he commanded.
If it was in the past, Ashlynn would have agreed. However, since she had found out about the truth, she could not stay away. She stared at the demeaning expression on his face and confessed, “Beth and Marshall are my biological parents.”
“So you do know about that.” He sneered darkly.
“You…knew?”
“Beth’s attitude toward you has been abnormal, so I looked into it. When they lost you, they were looking for a girl with a crescent-shaped birthmark on the back, I knew about that mark even before
you did.”
Ashlynn did not argue. Salvatore was her first man and he knew every inch of her skin like the back of his hands.
“So I think that you should think again before bullying me again,” Ashlynn reminded him.
Corentin froze for a moment, before bursting into laughter. “Hahahaha!”
His laughter filled the car and feeling insulted, she questioned sharply, “What are you laughing at?”
He stopped. “How…adorable.”
“Salvatore, I mean it!”
“I’m the heir to the Lloyd Family, and even if I’m not, you can never escape me. That’s your fate.”
She glared daggers at him resentfully, desperately hoping that the man before her would die.
Corentin crossed his legs and studied her with amusement. “Isn’t this funny? I was the bast*rd child of Lloyd Family who had been left to die in the slum, you are the lady of the Hilton Family, sold to the slum. Right now, I’m heir to the Lloyd Family and you’ve returned to the Hilton Family. Fate works in the most amazing way!”
Chapter 1392
Ashlynn’s heart sank at his words. “Even if this is fate, it just goes to say how cruel fate could be.”
She felt helpless for being targeted by a man like Salvatore.
She could have had a normal life, yet she had been hurt, damaged and traumatized.
“You want to go back to the Hiltons and break free from me? I thought that you have grown out of the age of daydreaming.” Corentin did not waver after finding the truth. “I don’t mind if you want to be accepted. into the Hilton Family and they will have to accept me as their son-in-law. That way, the two families will be joined by marriage as planned. Everyone can be happy.”.
Ashlynn glared at the ruthless look on his face. Running out of options, she asked, “I’m a member of the Hilton Family now, so I can get them to fulfill any of your requests. Just let me go, okay?”
“Does it look like I need anything?” Corentin glanced at her causally, before getting up to move closer to her. “Who else can satisfy me but you?”,
“Corentin, go awa- Umph!” He devoured her petal-soft lips as though he was trying to break the skin.
“…Umph! Cor-”
Ashlynn was taken back to Corentin’s mansion and all her belongings including her phone was left in her Toom, so even if Beth wanted to reach out to Ashlynn, she would have no means to do so.
Corentin had not forbidden Ashlynn from going to the Hilton’s mansion as long as they accepted him as a son-in-law, but she could not summon the courage to go, unable to recover from the shock of finding her real family.
Nonetheless, she was still overjoyed that she found them and that they did not abandon her on purpose. Nothing pleased her more and even the torture she received from Corentin did not affect her as much.
That was the difference between being alone and having a family.
Just then, the maid hurried over and ran past her to look for the butler.
Ashlynn spotted cars driving through the gates outside, and while there were three luxurious-looking cars, none of them was Corentin’s Bently.
When she spotted Beth getting out of one of the cars, Ashlynn’s heart raced, still unable to regain her composure after hiding for two days.
Both Marshall and Beth got out of the car and went to open the car door on the other car, before helping.
an old man out.
It was old Mr. Hilton.
Beth said something to old Mr. Hilton and he immediately looked up. When Ashlynn met his eyes and noticed the eagerness within, she knew who he was and hurried over.
Once she was standing before them, she struggled to address Beth and Marshall, it did not seem appropriate to call them ‘Dad’ and ‘Mom’, nor did it feel right to simply call them ‘Uncle’ and ‘Aunty’.
Old Mr. Hilton stared at her intently. “Crescent?”
She pursed her lips and muttered, “Hello…”
“You really are my Little Crescent…” Tears welled in old Mr. Hilton’s eyes. “Crescent, I’m so glad that we’ve finally found you!”
Beth looked at Ashlynn gently with tears in her eyes. “Crescent, this is your grandfather. You probably don’t remember him because you were only a baby when you last saw him. After I told him about he
you, insisted on coming here to see you. He is just excited, so don’t be alarmed.”
“I’m not…I’m just taken by surprise…” Ashlynn felt a lump in her throat.
Jeremy had mentioned to her that she had grabbed her grandfather’s hand during her One-year-old Catch Ceremony, her grandfather was so pleased that he decided to choose Jeremy’s sister as the future. heiress of the Hilton Family..
Ashlynn simply had not expected to learn that she was the baby in that story, and the gentle-looking old. man before her was grandfather.
Her mind went blank as she tried to picture the harmonious scene in the past.
“Why don’t you come in?” She said.
Once they were inside, the servants served tea and old Mr. Hilton kept his eyes on Ashlynn the entire time. “You have grown up so much. You must have gone through a lot of hardship out there.”
Tears gathered in Beth’s eyes again. Ashlynn was her own blood and flesh and as a mother, her heart ached for whatever Ashlynn had suffered.
“I’m fine…” Despite how tortured she was, Ashlynn dismissed it, not wanting to deepen their guilt toward her. “Are you doing alright?”
“Yes, especially after finding out about you. I’m just so happy. I never thought that I would be able to see. you again before I die,” old Mr. Hilton said.
“Dad, you’ve always been healthy. Don’t say things like that.” Beth scowled.
“That’s right. You still need to give Crescent a chance to be with you!” Marshall added.
“Life and death are inevitable and there’s no point in avoiding them,” Old Mr. Hilton said casually. “I do want to live a few years longer to protect you and make it up to you, though.”
Tears welled in Ashlynn’s eyes. “I’m happy to find my real family, so don’t worry about me. I’m sure you will live a long life.”
Old Mr. Hilton nodded his head happily. “Good girl.”
He turned to glance around the mansion. Beth and Marshall had informed him about what happened, along with Ashlynn’s marriage to Corentin.
Chapter 1393
“Crescent, tell me if you really want to spend the rest of your life with Corentin. If you don’t want to, I can resolve this,” old Mr. Hilton asked.
Ashlynn lowered her gaze to hide her real emotions.
She did not want to spend the rest of her life with a monster like Corentin and if possible, she would have preferred to stay as far away from him as possible, but she did not know how the Hiltons could help her.
Corentin possessed a tremendous number of photos and videos of her in unspeakable states and she could not risk to gamble, knowing just how devilish Corentin was.
“Since we are already married, I just want to…live peacefully,” she said.
“What I said when you were a baby still stands. You are still the heiress of the Hilton family if you want to be. Will you accept it?” Old Mr. Hilton asked.
Not only was Ashlynn shocked, both Marshall and Beth were stunned as well.
Ashlynn had been separated from the Hilton family for most of her life and none of them knew about her ability in running a business.
Back when old Mr. Hilton chose Crescent as his heiress, he planned to raise her into the role.
“Dad, you’ve always valued the family business so you might want to think it over. Crescent doesn’t know anything about the operation,” Beth said.
“And she can learn. She is still young.” Old Mr. Hilton was determined to spoil his granddaughter with all that he had.
“Dad, maybe we should see what Crescent thinks about it,” Marshall said.
Old Mr. Hilton turned to look at Ashlynn endearingly. “Crescent, what do you think? Don’t worry, just speak
your mind.”
“I’ve just found out about this and I don’t know anything else. If I’m named heiress to the Hilton family ast soon as I’m back, this will affect the family along with the company drastically. Apart from that, that’s going to make me the target of jealousy and resentment especially because I’m not proven worthy of the role yet. I believe there are better candidates for it, Grandpa,” Ashlynn analyzed the situation calmly.
Old Mr. Hilton nodded in content. “As expected of a daughter of the Hilton Family.”
Both Beth and Marshall nodded in pride.
“It’s okay. Take it slow. Grandpa will guide you every step of the way.”
Ashlynn noticed that old Mr. Hilton seemed to hang on to the thought of making her the heiress despite what she said earlier.
The Hiltons stayed for hours before leaving and Beth gave Ashlynn her phone, reminding her to call every once in a while.
Once old Mr. Hilton was inside the car, Ashlynn stood by the car door and said, “I will come to visit you.”
“Sure. I will wait for you. Come by with Corentin.” Old Mr. Hilton was overjoyed.
“…Sure.”
Ashlynn stood and watched as the cars disappeared into the distance.
It felt wonderful to be cared for and she longed to leave with them.
Corentin returned home at night for dinner and asked, “The Hiltons were here?”
Ashlynn knew that he already knew the answer to that question.
“Yeah.”
“Why didn’t you leave with them?”
Enraged, she took two deep breaths and said, “With your approval, I’m going to leave right now.”
He grabbed her cheek endearingly. “You can go, but only with my approval.”
She shoved his hand aside and a red mark appeared on her cheek. Corentin had not used much force, but her skin was delicate.
“Grandpa said that you can come along if I go to visit,” she said, hinting that the Hiltons did not intend on eliminating Corentin, so he should be treated with more respect.
“The Hiltons are smarter than you.”
Ashlynn felt offended, but was too tired to argue.
Just then, the maid came over with Ashlynn’s phone that was ringing.
She took the phone and saw Beth’s name on the display. Seeing how Corentin seemed to be reasonable for the time being, she answered the call right away. “Hello…”
“Crescent, you might need to come over now…” Beth said hoarsely.
“Now?” Ashlynn instinctively glanced at Corentin.
“Your grandfather felt unwell after coming home this evening and his condition had been worsening when we called him out for dinner. He refuses to go to the hospital and says that he wants to see you… I think he…won’t make it for long…” Beth choked on her voice.
“What….he was perfectly fine when he came by!” Ashlynn panicked.
“I don’t know…” Beth said tiredly.
“I…I will go over now. Don’t panic. Grandpa is going to be fine.” She hung up and said to Corentin. “My grandpa is unwell and I need to go over right now.”
“You are not a doctor so what’s the point for you to go?” He said emotionlessly..
Furious, she stood abruptly. “My mom said that it’s not looking good and this might be the last time I see him. He wants to see me, and if you don’t approve, you can just do with my photos and videos however you want!” She then turned to leave, but was instantly dragged backward.
“Corentin, don’t challenge my boundaries. I am going there today no matter wh-”
“I’ll give you a ride:” Corentin let go of her arm with a dark look in his eyes.
She was stunned for a moment, expecting Corentin to force her to stay.
Chapter 1394
They arrived at old Mr. Hilton’s mansion and as soon as they got out of the car, Ashlynn spotted Beth standing outside the door in bloodshot eyes.
She walked over in hope to offer any form of consolation, but could not bring herself to utter a single word.
“Here you are.” Beth took her hands as she glanced at Corentin coldly, before turning to look at Ashlynn gently. “Your grandpa is waiting for you inside…”
She then proceeded to ignore Corentin entirely and pulled Ashlynn inside.
Not bothered at all, Corentin followed them in.
The maids and Aunt Cher stood outside the bedroom door and when they entered the room, Ashlynn noticed that Marshall and his brother, Jeremy and Meredith were all present.
Old Mr. Hilton only had two sons and had treated his daughters-in-law as his own. He had been a caring and loving father to all of his children and one could easily tell how loved he was by his children from the dark looks on everyone’s faces.
When Meredith saw Ashlynn, her eyes were instantly filled with unwelcoming resentment and rage, having recently found out about Ashlynn’s true identity.
The person she had grown to despise turned out to be the long-lost daughter of Beth and Marshall, and no one could possibly accept such a drastic change..
As soon as Ashlynn walked in, Meredith got up to leave, making it clear that she did not wish to be in the same room as Ashlynn.
Meredith walked out of the room and Aunt Cher followed closely, not wanting Meredith to be completely isolated.
Meredith spotted Corentin sipping on a cup of coffee on the couch when she headed downstairs.
Right, I almost forgot that Ashlynn is his wife now,’ she thought while gritting her teeth. “And there I was, getting engaged to him like a fool? Who do they think I am?! I’ve never been humiliated to this extent
before!
“Crescent…”
“Grandpa.” Ashlynn crouched next to the bed and looked at the frail old man on the bed, unable to believe how he became so weak in merely a few hours. “Grandpa, let’s go to the hospital, okay? The doctors will check on you and everything will be fine.”
“It’s no good. I know it…” Old Mr. Hilton struggled to focus on Ashlynn as though he was trying to memorize every detail on her face. “I have…never forgotten about you. I’m content now that I’ve seen you again.”
Ashlynn did not grow up in the Hilton household, but could not turn her back on the instinctive feeling she felt toward her family. Tears welled in her eyes as her heart sank, all the while wondering if this would still happen had old Mr. Hilton not seen her.
“The Hiltons owe you everything and I’ve come to realize that I just want you to be happy… to be free of troubles…” Old Mr. Hilton reached his hand to pat Ashlynn gently on the head.
Beth covered her mouth to stop herself from making a sound while sobbing.
“Beth…” Old Mr. Hilton called out.
“Dad.” Beth approached him.
“You are the daughter-in-law I chose. Not only have you been a great wife to Marshall, you have managed our company well. A family’s prosperity depends on more than wealth, but also its members as well. We must educate our children well…”
“I know, Dad, and I will.” Beth sobbed.
“Especially Crescent. Don’t let anyone bully her. I won’t forgive anyone who does…” Old Mr. Hilton said. while panting.
“Dad…Dad…” Beth called out.
Marshall, his brother and Jeremy dragged the doctor over worriedly.
Old Mr. Hilton shook his head. “It’s fine…call Corentin Lloyd here…”
Ashlynn’s expression darkened.
Chapter 1395
Shortly after, Corentin entered the room. “Old Mr. Hilton”
Old Mr. Hilton struggled to look at him. “Treat Crescent with care, or I will haunt you after my death…” “Don’t worry. I won’t let anyone bully her, including me, Corentin said sincerely.
Had they been at a different place, Ashlynn would have slapped him across the face, because he was precisely the person who bullied her most in the entire world.
“Good…” Old Mr. Hilton panted.
Seeing how much pain he was in, Ashlynn gazed down at his hand and reached to grab him by a finger.
Past memories of Ashlynn’s one-year-old grab ceremony overlapped with the present. Old Mr. Hilton stared at her blankly, before slowly closing his eyes.
“Grandpa?” Ashlynn’s heart skipped a beat.
“Dad?”
“Dad!”
Beth, Ashlynn, Marshall and his brother called out to old Mr. Hilton, but he did not open his eyes again and had stopped breathing.
Apart from family members, certain important guests were invited to the funeral as well.
Sorrow had fallen over the entire family.
Ashlynn was dressed in black as she stood outside the mansion and stared dazedly at the pond, her exhausted face reflected on the water.
“Ashlynn Thompson!”
Ashlynn turned around and was instantly slapped across the face.
The slap landed on her cheek with a loud ‘snap’ and her face tilted to the side.
Furious, Meredith roared, “Why would you come back? You should have died out there? Why would you come back to the Hilton Family? Grandpa died because of you!”
Ashlynn stared at her dazedly as a red palm print appeared on her skin.
Beth spotted the two and hurried over to protect Ashlynn. “Meredith, what do you think you are doing?”
“Am I wrong? Had she not come back, Grandpa wouldn’t have died!” Meredith pointed at Ashlynn. “Get her away! She is not a part of this family!”
Beth stood in front of Ashlynn and consoled Meredith patiently, “This has nothing to do with Ashlynn. Your grandfather hadn’t been doing so well in the past two years to begin with. Meredith, Crescent is your cousin and you need to protect her like how I’ve protected you so far. Okay?”
Marshall came over. “What’s going on? Why are you arguing?”
Meredith was overwhelmed by sorrow and ignored Marshall. “Do you even have a place in your heart for me? Ashlynn is the only one you care about, right? That’s right, I can’t possibly compare to your actual daughter!” She roared and turned to glare at Ashlynn. “Can you swear that your appearance has nothing to do with Grandpa’s death? Do you even have a conscience? If she is staying in this family, I am going to be her worst nightmare!” She declared, before walking away.
Beth’s expression darkened, but turned to console Ashlynn regardless, “Don’t be bothered by what she said. You are a Hilton and no one will dare to lay their hands on you. I will talk to Meredith when I have the chance.”
“What’s with your face?” Marshall spotted the palm print on Ashlynn’s cheek. “Did Meredith do this? How can she…do such a thing?! Crescent, we will protect you. Don’t be scared. Besides, your grandfather’s death has nothing to do with you and he left his world with no regret thanks to you.”
Beth took Ashlynn’s hand. “Come, let me apply some ointment onto your cheek. Marshall, get back to what you were doing. I will come over later.”
Corentin strolled over. “I will do it.”
Both Beth and Marshall glared at Corentin darkly, still displeased with what had happened before.
Even if old Mr. Hilton accepted Corentin, Beth was the one who had been hit and she would not let this
past.
It must be the joke of the world for a son-in-law to beat his mother-in-law.
