Chapter 1071

Ashlynn rubbed Chichi’s head gently. Chichi was still lethargic and dangled on her arm.

It must have wished to stay by her side forever!

“Chichi is strong. We will go home now.” Ashlynn kissed its head and then made the payment and left.

She did not keep Chichi in the kennel anymore.

If Corentin were unhappy about it, she would beg him.

Anyway, she would not allow Chichi to be handled by any other person.

She entered the hall and saw Tina sitting in the living room, watching TV. She even had snacks in her hands.

Tina saw Ashlynn hugging Chichi in her arms and asked, “You are back. Chichi is fine, isn’t it?”

“No. Please do not feed Chichi anymore in the future. I will feed it,” Ashlynn said.

“I will not anymore. This scared the hell out of me. Luckily it is fine.” Tina acted as though she was traumatized.

She was, in fact, regretting it deep down. Why did the dog survive?

It was because she did not think that Corentin would do anything to her for a mere dog.

She saw Ashlynn was about to leave and immediately tried to make her stay. “Could you stay a while and accompany me? In fact, there is something that I would like to talk to you about…”

Ashlynn sat down. “What is it?”

Tina turned the TV off, and she said, “You know, I am pregnant now, and I cannot keep pets around. It is bad for the baby. This is Mr. Lloyd’s first child ever, and I don’t want to afford any accident.”

“Please do not worry. You can give birth to your child safely. As for Chichi, I will make it stay away from you.”

Tina felt that Ashlynn did not mean it even though she said it. How would she allow her to give birth to the baby safely? That would be a threat to her.

Ashlynn then carried Chichi and left.

Tina was sarcastic. She thought she must be jealous, which was why she gave me that look.

She also thought that Ashlynn would definitely be chucked to the side as soon as she gave birth to the baby.

She also knew that Ashlynn slept in Mr. Lloyd’s room every night.

Did Ashlynn really assume herself to be Mrs. Lloyd already?

Tina would become the real Mrs. Lloyd as soon as she gave birth to her son!

By then, as soon as she could no longer tolerate Ashlynn, she would have to leave!

Ashlynn carried Chichi and returned to the room, then placed it on the couch.” Please wait a minute. I will make you a little kennel here.”

She took out a drawer, layered one of her clothes inside, and placed Chichi inside.

Chichi looked like it wanted to sleep.

Its short little legs were hopping on the road.

Corentin went back to the Lloyd family’s chateau for dinner that night, leaving only Ashlynn and Tina in the mansion.

She did not share a common language with Tina, and technically they were two people who did not need to talk to each other.

One of them was the legally protected wife, while the other was the illegitimate woman being impregnated and brought back.

This was such an absurd combination.

“Are you done peeing? Let’s go back!” Chichi just recovered, and Ashlynn did not want to linger too long outside.

She then carried Chichi back into her room.

As soon as she returned to her room, she heard her phone ringing.

She placed Chichi down and picked up her phone.

It was Corentin. She answered, “What is up?”

“Have you had dinner?”

“Yes, I have,” Ashlynn said.

“I need to keep the old man company for a bit longer. Please take a shower and wait for me.”

Even though Ashlynn tried to convince herself to live in peace with Corentin before she managed to get hold of his flaws, she could no longer stand him. “Are you done?”

“I said it before, I want you to conceive my child. Right, I have arranged a doctor for you. Please get yourself checked.”

“What?”

“See if you need to take any medication.”

Ashlynn hung up on him.

Corentin was very obsessed about having a baby with her.

Why must he force her so much now that Tina was already pregnant with his kid?

She could not handle Corentin but also had to handle his unreasonable demands. How could that be…

She sat by the side of the bed, looking terrible.

She saw the servants and asked them if they saw Chichi, but none of them said yes.

Ever since Chichi accidentally consumed chocolates, she was keeping Chichi on close watch by herself. No other people would have to do that for her.

Ashlynn followed the road and went out of the house.

She followed the track that they went to earlier.

“Chichi? Chichi? Where are you? Don’t you roam around!” Ashlynn was worried.

She went back to the place where they were but still could not see Chichi.

She looked afar. Could Chichi be in the restricted area?

She panicked at the thought and immediately sprinted forward.

She looked down from the cliff. “Chichi?”

“Woof!”

Ashlynn was stunned. Chichi?

“Chichi!”

“Woof!”

The sound came from the cliff. Ashlynn widened her eyes and looked down.

The place was only dimly lit.

“Woof!” Chichi barked again.

Then, Ashlynn finally saw where Chichi was. It was standing by the riverbank, barking at the river.

She shivered.

There were crocodiles in the river! How did Chichi make it here?

Ashlynn immediately sprinted to a slope, stepped on the rocks on the side, and climbed down.

“Don’t be scared. I am here to rescue you.”

Ashlynn’s hand was gripping the rock firmly. She took a deep breath, so scared to fall down accidentally.

Even if she survived the fall, she would still be heavily injured.

Soon, after a few minutes, she finally landed.

Chichi, who was completely oblivious to the danger, was still wagging its tail at her happily.

Ashlynn was walking toward Chichi when she paused.

It was because she suddenly saw waves appearing on the surface of the water.

She felt as though she had seen a pair of eyes appearing and approaching Chichi.

Chichi was still happily barking.

When Ashlynn realized what that was, she immediately ran forward, picked up Chichi, and ran.

The pair of eyes sank into the water again.

Ashlynn rubbed Chichi’s furry head, and said, “You were almost eaten by the crocodile. This is a dangerous place. Who allowed you to come here? You are so tiny, and you are not even enough to be the crocodile’s dinner.”

“Woof!” Chichi squirmed in her arms.

Ashlynn knew that the surroundings were eerie, even though it was just a riverbank. She did not want to stay there for long.

Just when she was about to leave, she caught sight of the crocodile not too far away. It was slowly crawling its way across the ground.

It bared its sharp teeth at her.

There was also not just one of them!

Ashlynn turned and looked, only after making sure that there were no crocodiles behind her, then she backed away, holding her breath.

What… What should she do? There were four crocodiles…

Not just Chichi, even herself was not enough for them to fill their stomachs.

Would she be ripped into pieces by the crocodiles? –

Her face went pale as soon as she imagined the brutal scene.

“Ms. Thompson!” She heard noises from above.

Ashlynn looked up, she saw Corentin’s staff standing on the cliff, and her voice was shaky. “Help… Help me!”

He did not stretch his arm out for her but pointed his gun downwards and fired.

The shots were fired at the ground.

Ashlynn was stunned. Why were his shots so inaccurate?

Even the crocodiles could tell they had no shooting skills!

The crocodiles were shocked by the noises and backed off a little, but soon they advanced again.

The staff continued to fire his shots.

The crocodiles did not dare to make moves as soon as he fired. However, this was not the solution!

Ashlynn saw the crocodile baring its teeth at the holes in the ground from the bullets. Suddenly, she understood why the staff did not shoot the crocodiles.

It was because the crocodiles were rared by Corentin. No one should kill them.

The staff was not brave enough to sacrifice his own life to save Ashlynn’s.

“Ms. Thompson, please get out of there!”

Ashlynn understood that when the staff fired the next time again, she should run beside the crocodile to get to the slope.

“Ms. Thompson, give me your hand!” The staff offered his hand.

Ashlynn raised her hand, but could not reach him. Suddenly a crocodile appeared next to her and bit her ankle. Ashlynn was flung out…

“Ah!”

“Ms. Thompson!”

Ashlynn rolled a few times on the ground before she stopped, then her back was leaning against the river bank.

She was facing four crocodiles in front of her.

The pain from her ankle spread throughout her body. Her legs were shaking, and blood was spurting out.

Ashlynn hugged Chichi. Her face was pale and terrified, with tears streaming down. silently.

She had never expected herself to be eaten by crocodiles!

That was right. It would be the same as dying in Corentin’s hands. After all, the crocodiles were his pets.

Perhaps the smell of blood in the air triggered the crocodiles.

The crocodiles were moving even faster toward Ashlynn.

She hugged Chichi and closed her eyes firmly.

The gun fired again and hit the crocodiles‘ heads.

The crocodiles were covered in hard scales, it did not really affect them, but they felt

the pain. They turned their heads and wailed in pain.

Ashlynn opened her eyes and saw some people coming down from the cliff, and there was not just one of them.

Finally, she managed to see Corentin’s face.

The bullets never stopped raining on the crocodiles.

The crocodiles turned and escaped into the waters, then disappeared.

This was the man that could even terrify the crocodiles!

 

Chapter 1074

Corentin stood and stared at Ashlynn with a dark expression. “You came all the way here at night to feed yourself to the crocodiles?”

“..”

Before she could explain, Corentin landed a kick on his subordinate’s leg, and a sharp noise of bone cracking pierced through the air.

“Ugh!” The man wailed, not daring to protest.

“Do you want to be thrown into the river?” Corentin asked.

“Spare me, Mr. Lloyd!” the man begged.

Corentin crouched to check the wound on Ashlynn’s ankle. Without sparing his subordinate another look, he lifted her up and said, “Someone has to pay for this mistake.” Before turning to leave.

Tina, who had been hiding in a corner, watched as Ashlynn was carried into the car and saw the Bently drive off, wondering if Ashlynn was severely injured.

They arrived at the hospital for an X–ray, and though Ashlynn’s bone was not broken, the bite tore through her flesh, and her entire ankle swelled to double its size.

After being injected with anesthetic, she could barely feel the pain, but her heart still raced at the sight of her wound.

Had Corentin been one second late, she and her dog would have been eaten alive by the crocodiles.

Corentin sat on the side with a scowl as he narrowed his eyes viciously.

‘How dare she allow herself to get injured? How could she? Ashlynn was born for me, and I am the only one who gets to decide what happens to her! Killing my subordinate just isn’t enough!‘ he thought.

“Ah…”

Ashlynn’s voice drew Corentin’s attention, and he turned to look at her before glaring at the doctor. “You are hurting her.”

The doctor’s hand started shivering.

“One more quiver, and I will break your arm!” Corentin spat.

The doctor immediately grabbed his hand with another hand and explained, “I’m sorry, I… I will be extra gentle!”

“It doesn’t hurt after the anesthetic.” Ashlynn did not want to trouble the doctor; she merely could not help but make a sound when the doctor’s hand came closer to her wound.

Corentin reached out to grab Ashlynn’s dog and moved it to the side before pulling her down to sit on his lap. “You won’t be afraid this way.”

Ashlynn did not want to act this way in front of the doctor and nurses but could not resist due to her injury. However, even without the injury, she would not be able to refuse any of Corentin’s commands.

The doctor ignored them and proceeded with the task at hand, desperately trying to treat the wound as soon as possible so they could leave.

Back in Corentin’s mansion, he carried Ashlynn into the living room where Tina was waiting.

Tina stood up and approached to find Ashlynn asleep in Corentin’s arms with her dog in her arms. When she saw the thick layers of bandage around Ashlynn’s ankle, she gasped. “Why is she hurt?”

Corentin did not bother to stop and simply headed up the stairs.

Through Corentin’s shoulder, Ashlynn spotted the jealousy on Tina’s face.

‘She’s already pregnant, so what’s there to be jealous about? I don’t understand her at all… Why can’t she just focus on delivering her baby safely?‘ Ashlynn thought.

Once they were inside the room, Corentin set Ashlynn down on the bed and grabbed her dog by the back of its neck before tossing it onto the dog bed roughly.

“Be gentle!” She held her breath. Her dog was small in size and would not survive such rough treatment.

“Why did you go to the river?” Corentin questioned.

 

Chapter 1075

Ashlynn’s eyes darted away from his face as she knew she was running after her dog by the river.

“The reason that I didn’t kill this dog is because of you.” He sat down by the bed and stared at her. “It’s just a dog. Why is it so important?”

“I was mentally troubled, and it’s this dog that kept me company until I got better,”she said.

“You ought to keep a better eye on it, then, or I am going to have it made into a stew and serve it up to you!” He caressed her cheek. “Don’t forget that I was the one who saved you just now.”

“Be reasonable, Corentin Lloyd. Would that have happened if you didn’t bring me to this place against my will, to begin with? I won’t thank you!” she said while suppressing her anger, terrified that Corentin would kill her dog as he promised.

His expression darkened as he stood and kicked at the nightstand.

Baam!

The lamp on the nightstand fell onto the ground, and Ashlynn jolted in fear. By the time she looked up, Corentin had already left the room.

At night, Ashlynn’s dog was deeply asleep but woke up and looked up abruptly when it sensed danger approaching.

Animals had always been more sensitive.

Corentin crouched next to it like the twisted monster that he was and muttered, “I’m the bad guy, and you are the good dog, huh?”

The dog stared at him, seemingly confused by what he was saying.

“I really should just strangle you to death…” He viciously reached for the dog’s neck that was smaller than his hand.

“Ugh…” Ashlynn twisted and turned in her sleep.

He withdrew his hand. “You got lucky.”

When he returned to bed, he realized that Ashlynn was not having a nightmare. He lifted the blanket and checked the bandage around her ankle, concluding that the effect of the anesthetic had passed.

“Ugh…” She opened her eyes and noticed that Corentin was holding her leg.

“Does it hurt?” he asked.

“A little…It’s fine. I can take it,” she muttered.

She could not take painkillers too frequently.

Corentin placed a pillow under her calf and pulled her closer. “Go back to sleep.”

With a pillow underneath her calf, the blood could flow easier to her ankle, and the pain eased.

Though Ashlynn did not mean to hurt herself, she had to admit that this accident might prevent her from going to the hospital for a gynecology test.

“Better?” he asked.

“Yeah.”

“Rest at home. Call me if you need anything.”

‘There are only two women, one being pregnant, here at home. What would we need you for?‘ he thought.

In the morning, Ashlynn laid in bed to watch television when she heard someone knocking on the door.

Tina walked inside and asked, “I’m here to check on you, Ashlynn. How’s your leg?”

Ashlynn glanced at her ankle and said, “It’s fine. Just fell and hurt myself.”

Tina did not know that there were crocodiles behind the mansion, or she would not have stayed here willingly. People on the outside would never see Corentin as the horrifying monster that he was, so when Tina first sought Ashlynn’s help, Ashlynn had thought that she was merely another victim, only to find out later on that Tina seemed to be taking pride in the current situation.

“How did you fall?” Tina asked.

“I was running after my dog. You should go out. You are pregnant, and my dog is here. That’s not good for the baby,” Ashlynn reminded when it was just an excuse to get Tina out of her room.

“It’s just for a while.” Tina was not at all concerned.

A maid knocked and came in with a bowl in her hands. “Ms. Sparks, here’s your beauty collagen drink.”
