To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 601-Don't You Dare!

"How dare you?' Jade yelled angrily. Hayden really hadn't changed one bit.

He was still as violent as ever.

"Try me, bitch!" Hayden snapped back, swinging his hand. Though he had divorced Jade, in his mind, she still belonged to him, so he felt he had the right to do whatever he wanted to her.

Jade stood still, waiting for Hayden's hand to land. The moment it did, she would call the cops on the bastard. But the slap never landed. Instead, a man stepped in front of Jade, protecting her.

"Max?" Jade gasped. Shouldn't he be in Parrington?

"You alright?" he asked briefly, turning to glance at her.

Jade nodded, still curious as to what he was doing there.

Max didn't explain. He turned to glare at Hayden instead, flinging his hand away.

"What kind of cockless sonuvabitch would hurt a woman?"

Hayden stumbled back from the force. Jealousy burned in his chest when he saw how close Jade was to Max. Jade was his whether or not they had divorced, so there was no way he would allow her to be with another man.

"Who the hell are you?" he asked Max, though really he wanted to hear Jade's answer.

Max's glare was brimming with contempt. "I should be asking you that instead."

Hayden scoffed. "I'm Jade's man."

Jade nearly imploded with anger. She yelled, "You're a shameless piece of shit, is what you are! How dare you still say that after we've been divorced for so long?! I must've been blind to marry a jackass like you!"

Beside Hayden, Maria's face had also turned an ugly shade of purple.

Clearly, Hayden hadn't considered her feelings when he answered. Instead of getting upset at Hayden, she glared at Jade.

To her, Jade was responsible for seducing Hayden. He wouldn't have answered that way otherwise. Throughout all their years together, he hadn't acted so irrationally, save for now after Jade's reappearance.

Max had learned from Jade's outburst that Hayden was her ex-husband, so his expression grew more menacing. 'If you've divorced, you should stay out of her life. Permanently.' "Why? She's still my woman even after the divorce. I've fucked her countless times already," Hayden said crassly, shrugging.

Jade was now trembling with rage. Worried, Max gently said, "He's not worth it, Jade.' As if his words did the trick, Jade actually did calm down. She gazed steadily at Hayden, saying, "You're still as terrible a man as ever. Worse, in fact. I'm so glad that we're no longer husband and wife.’ She then looked at Maria. 'You two really are a match made in heaven.’ A whore of a woman with a horndog for a husband. How apt.

With that, Jade left with Max following along. She was worried she might start getting violent if Hayden said anything else.

Hayden stared at the two of them as they left, looking glum.

"What the hell did you say just now, Hayden Lowe? If Jade is your woman, then who am I?" Maria demanded. She wasn't on the same level as Jade, or she wouldn't have successfully stolen Hayden away from her.

Still upset, Hayden snapped, "What did I say? Are you deaf? You heard me!"

"Don't you dare! I am your wife, Hayden!" Maria stomped her foot.

The man scowled. 'You think that makes you special? Jade was my wife once too."

Hayden could swap Maria for someone else just like he swapped Jade for her all those years ago. They were nothing more than women, after all.

Maria's face twisted upon hearing that, obviously catching onto his meaning. As she watched Hayden leave, she silently started planning for her future. She couldn't bare to let herself end up like Jade

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 602-I Was Blind Once Jade took a while to recover her senses on Max's car, then started gnawing at her gums as to why she had hopped on in the first place. "Uhm… thank you for earlier,” she said hesitantly. She didn't know what else to say, embarrassed as she was. Very few people had seen her so unhinged before.

Max shrugged, oblivious to her embarrassment. "No need. I'm glad to have helped."

"What brings you to Bardoff City?'' Jade asked, switching the topics.

The car stopped outside a restaurant before Max answered, "Let's grab something to eat."

"No, thank you. I've eaten." She really just wanted to go home and rest.

Max gazed at her longingly. "Can you stay with me while I eat, then?"

Jade reluctantly agreed and followed him into the building. She couldn't be rude now, especially after he had just helped her.

Max got them a table and ordered several dishes that Jade felt were the food she liked. When their meal was served, Max asked, ’Was that man really your ex-husband?"

"Yes. I told you I'm a divorcee, but you-” "You have horrible taste in men," Max grunted. He was a thousand times better than that donkey of a man, and still, Jade didn't have eyes for him. What was that logic?

Jade was stunned by his response. She truly didn't know Hayden was such a character when she married him. If she remembered correctly, she and Hayden had their good times. He was an entirely different man back then, too.

"Money really could corrupt a person," she thought.

Max gave her an unhappy look. Though uncertain, he still tried to ask," You're not still into him, are you?"

"No way in hell!" Jade clapped back. "I was blind once. I'm not about to blind myself this time!"

Max eased up upon hearing that. "Good. I'd really look down on you if you still did."

"You haven't answered me. What are you doing in Bardoff City?” Jade asked.

"What do you think?” Max asked back as he plated a rack of lamb on her plate.

Noticing how he was tending to her, Jade blushed. It was pretty clear just from this. "You're…"

"The Pearsons want to expand into Bardoff City, too," he said lightly, watching Jade fluster.

"Oh, so it wasn't because of me," Jade thought, instantly feeling disappointed.

When she looked up again, she saw Max still staring at her as if reading her thoughts. She cleared her throat, then took a sip from a nearby glass. "Really?

That's good. There are more opportunities in Bardoff. H The moment she swallowed a mouthful of the beverage, she coughed." What is this?" she asked, staring at the empty glass in her hand.

"White wine. That's my glass you're holding.” Max grinned. He hadn’t stopped Jade from drinking because part of him was curious how she'd behave once drunk.

Jade sighed. "Why didn't you stop me?"

"It was too late."

Jade rolled her eyes. Liar liar, pants on fire.

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 603-Playing with Fire Jade couldn't actually hold her weight in alcohol, save for beer, but this was white wine she had. Right now, she was lounging in Max's lap, hand caressing his jaw and eyes roaming across his face.

"Be careful with those eyes of yours, kid. Else I eat you right up," she cooed.

Max's heart leaped, but he didn't show it. "Really? How do you plan to do that?"

"I plan to…" Jade smiled, then gently pressed her lips against Max's. She had wanted to do this for a long time but never had the chance to while sober. Only when her mind was uninhibited could she let these desires run free.

The moment their lips touched, Max's temple throbbed. He really was holding back as much as he could.

"You're playing with fire, Jade," he groaned. He hadn't imagined someone as proper as Jade to be such an enchantress after drinking.

Jade ignored him and arched in his lap instead. She huffed. "You're the one getting burned."

The next second, Max had lifted her up by the waist. He went upstairs to where the hotel rooms were, asking, "Do you know what's going to happen from here on out?"

"Hah. I know. Bring it on, kid." Jade gazed at him seductively. She had actually lusted after Max for some time too. But only his body, of course. It really was hard to restrain herself in his presence.

Max smiled. He opened one of the room doors and entered with Jade in his arms.

The night was still young for the both of them and would be for several long hours.

Meanwhile, Jenny hadn't been able to get even an ounce of sleep back at Walter Castle. She didn’t know what was happening. Usually, she'd be asleep by now. If it weren't for her doctor's degree, she would've thought her palpitation was a sign of a heart attack.

"Is something going to happen?" she thought worriedly. Jenny suddenly realized Alec hadn't contacted her today, which was very unlike him. "Did something happen to him?"

With that thought in mind, Jenny called his number. Her heart sank when no one answered the call. She then called Vincent's number. "Have you talked to Alec today, Vincent?"

"Yes, Miss Jenny. I just got off a call with him an hour ago. Is there something I can help you with?" Vincent replied honestly.

"An hour ago…Alec should be fine, right? He must've fallen asleep…"

"Miss Jenny?" Vincent asked again.

"No need. I was just wondering.’ "Okay," Vincent replied.

After hanging up the call, Jenny didn't call Alec again, assuming he had fallen asleep. He didn't usually sleep well either, so she didn't want to risk disturbing his slumber now.

This time when Jenny went back to bed, she successfully fell asleep, though nightmares plagued her rest. When she woke up the next day, she was so exhausted she could barely move.

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 604-Gossip Jenny massaged her aching temples and went to the bathroom. She nearly jumped at her reflection. "I look like I got mugged," she mumbled, amused. She really did look awful.

Her dreams were lost to her. All that she remembered was the fact that they were nightmares.

After washing up, she put on makeup to hide her exhaustion and went downstairs. Graham was already having breakfast with Rowena and Jolene.

They turned to look at her when she reached the first landing.

"Good morning. Come join us for breakfast," Graham offered.

Jenny nodded and went over. Her hunger had tripled from the exhaustion and nightmares last night, so she began devouring her food like a starving beast.

The sight made Jolene cringe internally.

"Hey, Jenny, why did you choose to go to the sales department? They have a minimum target to hit every month, don't they? Aren't you worried you won't make any sales? It's not like you know anyone in Bardoff yet." Before Jenny could answer, Jolene faked a shocked gasp. "You're not expecting Dad to help you, are you? How would you get trained if that's the case?"

Jenny really was getting fed up with Jolene. She was like a persistent fly, always buzzing around her, insinuating and insulting. All bark and no bite. Jenny really had to get her married ASAP.

"Don't worry, Jenny. I have some contacts you can get in touch with. It shouldn't be a big issue." Graham wasn't about to make things difficult for Jenny.

Jolene's face instantly darkened. Her father was even helping Jenny to this extent?!

"No need. I trust in my own capabilities." Jenny wasn't really concerned about business deals.

Graham frowned. "Jenny, the sales department can be highly stressful, though they pay well. It will be difficult for you if you want to settle deals with clients you don't know."

"Don't you have faith in me, Dad?" Jenny set down her silverware and glanced helplessly at Graham. The man was about to reply when Jenny added, "How can you trust me with Walter Inc if I can't even prove my worth with some business deals?"

Graham grew silent. To be honest, he hadn't really planned much of what to do once Jenny took over the company. All he knew was that Jolene couldn't be that person, no matter the circumstances.

"Alright. I await your results then." Graham said and thought, "Maybe I should trust her."

Jolene ground her teeth together and piped up, "You better not force it, Jenny.

Otherwise, you'll end up as everyone's laughing stock with nothing to show."

"Jolene," Jenny suddenly said.

Jolene unwillingly met her gaze. "What?"

"Did anyone ever tell you how annoying you are?" Jenny rolled her eyes." Not even food can stop you from jabbering away. We're Walters, so start acting like one, for God’s sake. All you do is gossip and gossip. It's unbecoming."

Jolene got up from her chair, about to swing at Jenny. "Who are you calling "Whoever speaks next."

"That's it, Jen-' Jolene was about to lunge at Jenny when Rowena dragged her back into her seat.

"Sit down and be quiet. Can't you see she's trying to get a rise out of you?"

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 605-Keep Your Daughter in Check!

Jenny was somewhat disappointed when Jolene was restrained. She had been ready to fight back. After all, she needed to show Graham just how much of a bitch Jolene was.

Sadly, Rowena was too sharp a woman.

Still, what transpired was enough. Graham's face had already darkened.

"Dad, I-" Jolene tried to explain, but a stern look from her father silenced her.

She looked down at her knees instead, staying quiet.

"Keep your daughter in check!" Graham barked at Rowena, then left the table and went outside, most likely heading for work.

Meanwhile, Jenny happily beamed, eating her breakfast.

When Graham left, Jolene glared at Jenny, her eyes now red and watery.

Jenny ignored her, for she never did anything more than glare or fume. After breakfast, she left straight for the office, leaving mother and daughter in the dining room.

Jolene whined to her mother, "Dad's too biased, Mom!"

Rowena held dearly onto her child, feeling upset and disappointed. "Yes. I'm afraid he only loves that woman's child now."

“It's not fair, Mom. Why can't I have a chance to take over as the family heir? I'm as much Dad's daughter as Jenny is." Jolene couldn't possibly accept Jenny as their family’s sole heir. She had been raised as a Walter since birth, so everyone, including her, had always assumed she'd take over the family.

Then Jenny came into their lives and shook the foundations of everything Jolene had ever known. It was too much for her to cope with.

Rowena gritted her teeth. "If he’s not going to play fair, don't blame me for doing the same."

She had thought things through. Graham would rather abandon them for Jenny than treat them equally. Hence, they could only rely on themselves if they wanted to continue living a wealthy life.

Things would only get worse once Jenny took over, too.

Rowena had already formed her plans. She no longer hoped for assistance or care from Graham regarding Jolene, having permanently lost faith in him.

Jenny was oblivious to these plans, though. She was on the way to the office when she called Alec's number again. The man should be awake by now and most likely already busy at work. But still, no one answered. After several calls, the phone was powered off.

Did Alec hear the ringtone?

Why did he switch the phone off?

Did I disturb him?

All kinds of doubts surfaced in Jenny’s mind, but she still felt like something was wrong. Alec wasn't the kind to switch off his phone while busy at work. Usually, he would send her at least one text to update his status.

Jenny called Vincent again, asking him to contact Alec, but not even the assistant succeeded. Apparently, Alec hadn't gone to work at his office in Parrington yet.

Now Jenny was distraught. Not picking up the call was one thing, but not going to work? That wasn't what Alec would do.

Jenny then decided to call Old Mr. Faust. Alec might be with the old man right now, too. She was starting to regret not asking Alec to come to Bardoff City with her in the first place.

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 606-Missing To her shock, not even Old Mr. Faust picked up the call immediately. It took a while before the call finally came through, much to Jenny’s agitation.

"Grandpa-’ "Miss Jenny," Warren, the family butler, answered.

Jenny blinked in surprise. 'Where's Grandpa? I need to talk to him about something important."

"He has gone out on some errands. I can help you leave a message." Warren’s tone was light, completely unreflective of his serious expression.

Jenny decided to reveal what was on her mind. "It's about Alec. He isn't answering his calls, and he isn't at his office either. I just wanted to know if he's at the Old Mansion?"

"Mr. Alec has gone out along with Mr. Faust. I believe he forgot to bring his phone, hence not answering his calls," Warren replied without a moment's hesitation.

Jenny knew and trusted the butler, so his words were enough to make her relax.

'That's all I needed to hear. Thank you. Tell Grandpa I said hi."

She then hung up the call and started her work at the office.

Meanwhile, Warren set down the phone and gazed at Old Mr. Faust, who was now resting in bed. "Sir, why don't you want Miss Jenny to know what happened? She might be able to help us."

"If news of Alec's disappearance spreads, chaos will strike the company. Jenny is trustworthy, but…we still need to be careful." Old Mr. Faust had fainted earlier after hearing the news. He was just recovering right now.

Warren then switched the topic. "Our men have already gone on a search, but all we found was his car at the bottom of a cliff beside a river, with no one to be found in or around it."

He didn't tell the Old Mr. Faust how high up the cliff was or that there had been blood in the car. Alec's survival rate was slim. Old Mr. Faust's health had already been declining lately; Warren didn't want to risk anything happening to the old man if he knew the truth of their search results.

Old Mr. Faust ordered, "Make sure not a single word of this slips out. Continue the search until they find Alec, dead or alive."

He didn't need Warren to tell the truth, for he had considered that dreadful possibility.

"I'm sure Mr. Alec is fine, Sir. He's always been blessed," Warren consoled him the only way he knew how.

Old Mr. Faust dropped the subject. "Have Vincent handle Faust Group.

Given his foundation, he'll be able to hold off any opposition targeting the company now."

“Yes, sir. Right away." Warren nodded.

"Make sure they find out who did this to Alec!"

Anyone who dared hurt his grandson wasn't going to be let off that easy!

"Already on it, sir, but it'll be difficult to find any clues as their deed was done in such a short time," Warren reported though he knew it was disappointing news.

He knew their enemy had to be someone powerful to have carried out their task in a matter of hours.

Old Mr. Faust narrowed his eyes. "Dig anywhere and everywhere until you find out who it is. We WILL find them."

"Very well, sir. I'll inform the men. Please, get some rest in the meantime."

Warren was worried about Old Mr. Faust's health after all that had happened.

Old Mr. Faust waved him off. "I'm old, Warren. It won't make a difference if I die tomorrow. All that matters is that Alec is alive and well!"

He prayed nothing happened to his beloved grandson. Alec was his sole heir now

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 607-Your Visit Was a Waste Jenny was preparing to meet her clients after having familiarized herself with the documents from yesterday. She wasn't about to let Jolene make fun of her.

She notified her client's secretary and left for their office. She was brought to the lounge to wait. Soon, Jenny's client walked in. Beside him was Brandon Britt.

"Miss Walter,* Hunter Meyers, Jenny's client, greeted. He still had to maintain a degree of respect; Jenny was a Walter, after all.

Jenny nodded, ignoring Brandon entirely. "Good morning, Mr. Meyers."

"Sit, sit." Hunter gestured at the sofa behind her, sitting down himself.

Jenny sat down, clearing her throat and ready to present her proposal.

Brandon then cut in, "Miss Walter is gracing us with her presence today because of the South City project, am I right?"

"You have keen ears, Mr. Britt," Jenny nodded. She was here because of that project and it alone. Hunter's company had been awarded the project and had been looking for a joint venture partner, so Jenny was there to try her luck on behalf of Walter Inc.

Hunter wasn't surprised. "If that's the case, then I'm afraid your visit was a waste. Miss Walter, as I've already signed the venture with Mr. Britt here."

Jenny stiffened in surprise. The Britts didn't usually partake in such projects, as they didn't have the relevant skills. How strange.

She glanced at Brandon and realized he was staring steadily at her. "He did this on purpose," she realized and thought to herself. "For Jolene, no doubt, fl "I see. It looks like this really was a waste," Jenny said with a smile.

Her lack of anger surprised Brandon. He teased, "Are you giving up just like that, Miss Walter? Not even going to try and persuade me to give it up?

What if I was open to negotiation?"

Jenny frowned and glanced at Hunter instead. Was he really okay with his partner dropping out just like that?

As if reading her thoughts. Hunter shrugged. "Honestly, it doesn't matter to me who I partner with-the Walters or the Britts-as I trust both of you to be capable enough for this project. So if the Britts give up. I’ll happily work with the Walters, Miss Walter."

So he still planned to have Jenny negotiate with Brandon.

"Could I have a moment with Mr. Britt, then?" Jenny asked politely, much to Hunter's surprise.

"She really is ready to do whatever it takes," he thought. He got up from his seat and left the room, nudging Brandon's shoulder and teasing, "Be a gentleman, will you?"

Brandon was grinning like a cat about to eat a canary. He had thought Jenny would never stoop so low, but now that she had, his impression of her had really fallen. What a whore, he thought. No way could she compare with Jolene.

"Don't think I'll give up on the venture that easily. You better propose something of equal value," Brandon said, sitting beside her. Jenny was incredibly attractive for a divorcee, so he wouldn't mind having a taste.

He didn't care about this project whatsoever. In fact, if it weren't for Jolene coming to seek his aid, he wouldn't have taken it up.

"Oh? I'm not sure what Mr. Britt would view as equal value." Jenny retained her polite smile, though there was a dangerous gleam in her eye.

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 608-Joint Venture Brandon was beaming from their proximity, Jenny's stuck-up impression slowly declining in his mind. He circled an arm around her shoulders." What do you think?" He gently slid a finger down her arm as he spoke, grin turning lecherous.

The next second, Jenny twisted his arm and pressed him down on the sofa.

"Ow, fuck!" Brandon yelped.

"What the hell do you think you're doing, Britt?’ Jenny snarled.

"Don't test my patience, Jenny Walter," Brandon huffed, embarrassed from being easily manhandled. "I can step out of this venture as long as you sleep with me once."

Jenny laughed and let him go, sitting on the seat across from him. "I thought you liked Jolene?’ "That has nothing to do with me wanting to sleep with you." Jolene would only be happier if he did.

"I can help you marry her, you know." Jenny didn't waste her time dragging things on any longer.

Brandon gaped at her in shock. That was unexpected. "You can…help me marry Jolene?"

He wasn't an idiot; he knew Jolene wasn't serious about it. In fact, she was only using him to get what she wanted. Though Brandon wasn't upset about it, he knew things couldn't go on like that forever. That was why he'd agreed to help Jolene so that she could like him a little bit more, and hopefully, she'd want to marry him one day.

"Of course, I can. Don't forget; I'm the favorite." It wasn't a difficult task for Jenny, especially when her father was already on board to marry Jolene off.

Only the suitor's identity was uncertain right now.

Brandon still didn't believe her. Jolene wasn't that easily manipulated, right?

"I've spoken to my father about Jolene marrying into your family. I don't mind, and neither does he."

All that was left was Jolene's consent. But really, when has this ever been Jolene's decision to make?

Brandon immediately perked up. As long as Graham Walter wasn't opposed to this marriage, it was pretty much a done deal.

"What do you want, then?" he asked curiously.

Jenny shrugged. 'Isn't it obvious? I want you to step out of this venture with Hunter Meyers."

"That's it? You understand that your family doesn't need this project, right?"

Brandon asked, frowning. The project was at most insignificantly helpful to the Walters, so he didn't buy that Jenny could be so easily placated.

But Jenny affirmed her stance. "It might not be important to my family, but it is to me."

It was her first official business deal on the company's behalf. She couldn't let Jolene nor the staff belittle her ability to get things done. Heck, she'd even belittle herself if she failed.

"Done." Brandon agreed. Now that Jenny had promised his marriage to Jolene, he could safely let go of this joint venture project.

Jenny was unsurprised to see his assent. Only an idiot would fail to see how amazing this deal was.

They soon had Hunter come back to sign the venture with Jenny, leaving Hunter surprised as to how Brandon and Jenny completed their deal in such a short time.

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 609-High and Mighty Hunter glanced at both Brandon and Jenny. 'She's an outstanding woman…

what a pity," he thought.

"You can always come to me for any business projects, Miss Walter. I'm sure I can give you just as much as Mr. Britt can," he said.

He wouldn't have allowed Brandon to sleep with Jenny if he hadn't already signed the agreement with him.

Jenny immediately knew what he was implying. She shot him a cold stare." I'm afraid it's not what you think, Mr. Meyers. Nothing of the sort happened between Mr. Britt and me." Before she left the lounge, she even warned, "I hope no word of such rubbish spreads out to the public, Mr. Meyers. I won't hesitate to quell any accusations about me."

Jenny didn't mind such rumors, but she had the responsibility to silence them now that she was recognized as a daughter of the Walters.

After she left, Hunter cursed, "Why the fuck is she still acting all high and mighty? She's the one spreading her legs just to get what she wants."

Brandon shot him a look. He said kindly, "She's not acting, man. Nothing happened between us.” "Really?" Hunter asked. He could take Jenny's word as an attempt to retain her dignity, but now that his friend had come clean, he really had to take his word for it.

"Yeah. She's intelligent, that one. She found another way for me to sign off the deal," Brandon said. No wonder Jenny was able to take care of Jolene that easily.

Hunter frowned but didn't ask what it was. Brandon would likely keep it a secret from him, too. "What about the project? And messing with her?"

"I'll let her off this once. We'll see if she fulfills her end of the bargain." They had set up the project just to mess with Jenny. Even if she hadn't taken the bait today, it would've landed in her lap eventually. With it, they planned to cut off profits so Jenny would end up becoming her company's laughing stock.

Brandon didn't feel that was necessary anymore. Plus, with how sharp Jenny was, she would soon realize the discrepancies in the project and trace it back to them. It would only cause an unnecessary scene.

"Alright. I'm not bearing losses either way." Hayden shrugged. He was only interested in Jenny, really. With a smirk, he said, ’I don't understand why you're obsessed with Jolene. Jenny is so much more interesting."

"She is, but she's also too powerful for me to take on." Brandon knew his limits well. He wouldn't be able to handle a woman like Jenny.

"They're just women. After a night in bed, they'll follow your every whim,"

Hayden shrugged it off, already fantasizing in his mind.

Brandon scoffed internally at his friend's response but didn't show it. "You plan to try your hand with her?"

"What an idiot," Brandon thought and said, "If you can get her into your bed and have her wrapped around your finger, you might just have the Walters at your command."

Everyone knew Jenny was Graham Walter's chosen heir, so she had her fair share of suitors, though none of them had made a move yet.

"Really? I'll have to start planning then." Hayden grinned greedily. Who would pass on a fish as big as the Walters?

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 610-Feeling Hurt Jenny returned to the company. Plenty of people were looking at her, curious to know if she had succeeded in securing the collaboration.

Right as she sat down at her seat, Cherry Winter, who was sitting close by, scooted over. "Don't be upset, Jenny. Things don't usually work out the first time. Back when I first started, I didn't even get to meet the client."

Although Cherry knew that Jenny had the Walters backing her up and that collaborating wouldn't be a problem, no one really knew what Mr. Walter was planning. What if word spread and no one had Jenny's back anymore?

If that were the case, she would not have a high chance of securing the collaboration.

"Thanks," Jenny said. She knew that Cherry was comforting her. 'But the contract has been signed."

Now it was Cherry's turn to be surprised. 'On the first try? That's amazing!” She had not been quiet with her words, and people looked over. "Did Jenny succeed?" they wondered.

Some of them were jealous, but they thought it was expected. Jenny was the Walters' daughter. If she couldn't do it, lowly people like them would never have a shot.

"Sorry. I was just too shocked." Cherry noticed their gazes and knew that she had overreacted.

Jenny shook her head. She had not minded. There was no need to keep it a secret. She didn't care about what anyone thought.

Soon, news that Jenny had secured the collaboration spread through the company. Some people said she was brilliant but then secretly thought it was all because of her identity.

Jolene's face was cold. She was extremely upset. "Brandon, you promised me that you wouldn't let Jenny get the collaboration. What's all this?"

"I'm sorry, Jolene. Jenny had already signed the contract with Hunter when I got there. I couldn't stop them in time." Brandon made up an excuse to brush it off.

Jolene bit her lip. "Can't you think of another way? Isn't Hunter your friend?

Can't you just make him give you the collaboration?"

"Jolene, they've already signed the contract. If Hunter does that, he'll have to pay a huge fine."

"Is that it? Are you just going to make her happy?" Jolene was furious. She was thinking even worse of Brandon now and thought he was trash. "Thank God I didn't get together with him, or I would've ruined the rest of my life," she cursed silently.

James was still the best. Only he was worthy of her.

Brandon was oblivious to what was on Jolene's mind. "It's alright,' he said calmly. "Jenny had only secured a one-time collaboration. I'll definitely stop her from getting the next one."

Jolene scoffed and said nothing else. She hung up, thinking that talking to him was a waste of time.

Brandon wasn't feeling too well, either. He'd helped Jolene, but she had not so much as thanked him and even scolded him. Even the thought of it made him feel hurt.

"Oh well," he thought. Brandon liked her, after all. He'd just endure it all. He'd see for himself if she kept up the scoldings after marriage.

Jenny got off work at six in the evening. Just as she got to the entrance, she saw James, who was not far from her.

He was leaning against his car like usual. His ethereal face attracted a lot of attention from the pedestrians.

"James." Jenny walked over. She worried that he'd be affecting the traffic if he stood there.

James snapped back to reality when he heard her. "Are you off work? Let's have dinner." "Sure." Jenny didn't refuse. She just so happened to want to talk to him about taking down the Glass family. But she didn't know when Alec would arrive at Bardoff City. She was a little worried.
