Ch. 481..490

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 481-I Won’t Kill You Jenny nodded, but she had no intention of making a move.It left the woman confused and unsure of what she was trying to do.

The woman got into an attacking stance, but in the next second, she was stunned in place, unable to react.

“You…” The woman looked at Jenny, feeling speechless.

Jenny shrugged nonchalantly and smiled at her.

“I never said I was going to fight you myself.” Right then, the woman found herself surrounded.

Even if she wanted to, she stood little chance of escaping, let alone winning against Jenny.

“Aren’t you being shameless? You don’t have a shred of honor.” She was irate and finally realized why Jenny was stalling. It turned out she had backup.

To Jenny, however, it had nothing to do with honor.

Since returning from Bardoff City, these people had followed her around, acting as her bodyguards. She didn’t want to risk her life.

Fortunately, she had made the right decision.

“It doesn’t matter if it’s honorable or not as long as one can win,” Jenny replied with a smile, not feeling guilty at all.

Gritting her teeth in frustration, the woman could do nothing but prepare to break through.

“Don’t think you can beat me just because you have more people.I’m not that easy to deal with.” Jenny didn’t say anything but kept her gaze on the woman. She didn’t believe that the woman would be able to escape with so many people surrounding her.

“Is that so? Then how about my men join in too?” Alec’s figure emerged from the darkness.

The woman was astounded, as was Jenny.

“Didn’t you say you were going to the company?” Jenny was puzzled and didn’t understand why Alec was there.

“My men noticed someone following you these past few days, so I pretended to leave to create an opportunity for your stalker.I didn’t expect that you were also prepared.” Indeed, he had no idea that Jenny had prepared herself for such a circumstance. But even if he’d known, he would’ve still shown up because he was worried.

Alec’s gesture warmed Jenny’s heart, but she didn’t express her feelings to him then.

Instead, she looked at the woman and said, “Surrender now.You can’t escape.” “Heh! How would you know before I’ve even tried?” The woman sneered and charged toward Jenny.

Alec pulled Jenny behind him and signaled with his eyes.

The people he brought with him rushed toward the woman in an instant.

About a dozen people besieged the woman, and she couldn’t get to Jenny at all.

Of course, she wasn’t planning on killing Jenny at that moment; she was finding a way to escape. She was indeed very skillful.

Under her ruthless and desperate attacks, the people Jenny brought couldn’t hold their own against her.

Fortunately, Alec brought quite a few men.

Under the combined effort of their men, they finally caught the woman.

When the dust settled, Jenny walked up to her and said, “Don’t worry.I won’t kill you.” The woman snorted in response, looking down on Jenny immensely. She was simply outnumbered.

“Useless bitch!” she cursed in her heart.

Jenny ignored her and looked at Alec.

“Can you help me find a place to lock her up? I’ll need her in a few days.” “Okay.” Alec nodded.

It was no problem for him.

After everything was taken care of, Alec sent Jenny back again.

This time he walked her to her door.He waited for her to enter her home no.velebook and close the door before he left.

Alec then walked back to the woman and grabbed her chin with force.

“Who sent you?” He didn’t know of the conversation between her and Jenny, so naturally, he had to ask her some questions.

Unfortunately, she was a tough nut to crack.

She only told Jenny earlier because she didn’t care and thought Jenny was going to die at her hands.

But now, she was annoyed and didn’t feel like saying anything.

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 482-Could She Have Failed?

The woman said nothing, but Alec paid no attention to her.

Looking at his men, he instructed, “Take her to the dungeon and interrogate her well.Pry out everything she knows.” He wasn’t as kind as Jenny toward someone who wanted to take his life.

Naturally, he had to deal with them accordingly.

The woman was taken away, and Alec stood in place for a long time, his heart a little heavy.

As Jenny got closer to uncovering the truth, the danger around her also increased.

Alec wasn’t sure how long he could protect her.

If she returned to the Walters, would he still be of help? To be more exact, would he even qualify to help? It seemed to him now that he was still too weak.

A few days later, after Natalia returned from Bardoff City, she immediately came to look for Jenny.

“Dr.Walter, I have contacted both Parrington Hospital and Bardoff Hospital. The two hospitals are now cooperative, and you can perform the surgery at Bardoff Hospital.” “Good. You’re quite efficient.” Jenny couldn’t help but acknowledge that though the Cruzes were only a secondclass family in Bardoff City, their influence could not be underestimated.

The Walters, one of the Ten Elites, would be even more powerful.

If she really went there, she didn’t have a solid plan as to how to deal with them.

“Well, my grandfather’s life is at stake, so of course I have to get everything arranged as soon as possible,” Natalia said frankly. She had indeed asked many people for help in this matter.

Jenny didn’t say anything to that.

Natalia quickly asked, “Dr.Walter, when will you go with me to Bardoff City to perform my grandfather’s surgery?” “Tomorrow,” Jenny replied.

“Huh?” Natalia was surprised.

“So soon?” Before she came over, she’d expected that Jenny would agree to go sometime within a week.

As long as Jenny was willing to perform the surgery within that time frame, she would be content. She didn’t expect it would be the next day.

“Is that too soon? So do you prefer for me to go at a later date?” Jenny looked at her, amused and thinking that Natalia was a little weird.

Natalia shook her head quickly.

“No, no, I just didn’t expect it to be so soon.I thought you would go in a few days.” “Your grandfather’s condition isn’t optimistic.Since you’ve decided to have surgery, we should do it as soon as possible. The longer you wait, the worse it will be.” Natalia nodded.

“Okay, then I’ll arrange for the flight tomorrow.” “Okay,” Jenny replied and didn’t say anything else.

After Natalia left, Jenny didn’t busy herself; instead, she leaned back in her chair and thought about how to get to her family’s residence in Bardoff City.

Of course, she wasn’t in a hurry to return to her family. She just wanted to take Ash to her family to confront them.

Ash was the woman from the previous night—Alec had just told Jenny her name earlier that morning.

Jenny didn’t ask Alec how he found out, nor did she care if he’d done anything to Ash.

Since Ash wanted to kill her, Jenny wasn’t a saint and couldn’t possibly help her.

If she went to the Walters and looked for Rowena, she would be throwing herself into the snake pit.

The person she needed to approach was her father.

“Does my father know what his wife is up to? Oh well, it’s pointless to think about that now,” Jenny thought.

She started to study Natalia’s grandfather’s medical case again.

Although the chances of a successful surgery were slim, failure was not an option for Jenny. She had to succeed.

In Bardoff City, at Walter Castle, Rowena anxiously awaited Ash’s confirmation that she’d accomplished what she was told to do.However, she heard nothing from her.

“Could she have failed? How is that possible?” Rowena pondered.

Ash was skilled in Bardoff City and had few opponents, let alone in a small place like Parrington. no.velebook She should be able to handle Jenny with ease.

Nonetheless, it had already been several days, and there was still no news from Ash.

Rowena was no doubt worried and unsettled.

“What’re you thinking about?” Graham asked while looking at Rowena at the dining table, his expression probing as he watched her. He’d long noticed that something was off about the woman.

Coupled with the fact that he didn’t see Ash around for the past few days, he couldn’t help but speculate. He’d previously thought that Rowena didn’t have the guts to do anything drastic, so he didn’t inquire much. That didn’t seem to be the case now

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 483-You Were Too Weak Graham had startled Rowena, speaking to her out of the blue.

“I- It’s nothing,” she stammered.

“Is that so?” Graham obviously didn’t believe her.

Over the years, he had come to know the woman quite well. She wouldn’t be so nervous if there was nothing going on.

Right then, Rowena regained her composure and snapped back, “What does it have anything to do with you? Have you suddenly started to care about me?” “Care about her?” Graham thought with a grimace, disgusted. He averted his gaze and stopped looking at her.

Rowena’s heart ached, but she put on a cold front and continued, “Since you don’t care about me, don’t ask about my affairs.” “Did you think I was keen to ask? I’m just afraid you’re doing something behind my back that I wouldn’t approve of,” Graham retorted.

Rowena felt guilty. She dared to make a move against Jenny, but she didn’t dare to let Graham find out.She could only harrumph coldly and ignore him in defense.

Seeing that her parents were about to argue again, Jolene felt helpless.

“Mom, Dad, can’t you two go a day without fighting?” Sometimes, she couldn’t understand how these two people, who were constantly at each other’s throats, ended up together.

“It’s your father who insists on arguing with me,” Rowena responded.

Graham couldn’t be bothered with her and instead looked at Jolene and asked, “What have you been up to lately? Are you still hanging out with those unsavory friends of yours?” He didn’t like Jolene’s friends and didn’t want his daughter to associate herself with them.

“Dad, they’re my friends. How can you say that?” Jolene was unhappy.

Although she knew her father didn’t like her friends, he had never said anything about it before.

Apparently, he decided to make his disapproval known to her that day.

Graham looked at her and sighed helplessly.

“Jo, you’re different from those people. You’re a daughter of the Walters.I’m very disappointed to see you willingly degrade yourself like this.” Jolene froze.

That was the first time Graham had ever spoken to her in such a way, and she didn’t know how to react.

“What’s wrong with her making a few friends? As her father, shouldn’t you let her do as she pleases as long as she’s happy? Why do you have to exert control over her?” Rowena spoke up, defending her daughter.

She was not happy to see her daughter being criticized by someone else.

Graham’s expression darkened; it was clear he wasn’t pleased.

“You, as a mother, have a great responsibility for Jo becoming like this.” He had never liked Rowena and thought her character was poor. Now, he could see Jolene becoming more and more like her under her care and guidance. If Jolene wasn’t his daughter, he wouldn’t even bother saying anything.

“Graham Walter! What do you mean?” Rowena was furious.

Was he implying that she hadn’t taught Jolene properly? Who was he to say that?

Had he ever taken no.velebook an interest in bringing up Jolene all these years?

“You know exactly what I mean.” Facing her angry outburst, Graham remained calm, but his words pierced like a knife straight into Rowena’s heart. She didn’t expect that even after so many years, Graham still didn’t acknowledge her.

“Yes, I know. You couldn’t marry the woman you wanted to back then and were forced to marry me.That’s why you’re unhappy, right? That’s because you were too weak and couldn’t protect that bitch yourself. What does that have anything to do with me? Why do you have to take it out on me?” Jolene could feel the atmosphere at the dining table change. She’d never seen her father make such a terrible expression. She gently tugged on the corner of her mother’s sleeve.

“Mom, please stop talking.

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 484-I'm the Winner Rowena was a bit scared of the repercussions after saying those words.

However, she wasn't willing to show any weakness in front of Graham.

"You're right. It was indeed my incompetence," Graham responded slowly after a moment. Then, he got up and left the dining room.

As he walked away, Rowena felt no satisfaction from expressing herself. On the contrary, their argument made her feel even more upset.

"Why didn't he get angry? He should have screamed at me. How could he pretend to take it so calmly?" she thought.

Jolene finally came to her senses. She turned to look at her mother. "Mom, what did you mean by what you just said? Did Dad like someone else?"

"She was just an unworthy and lowly commoner. So what if your father liked her? Would the rest of the Walters consent to their relationship? He was lucky enough to be able to marry me." Rowena was angry. Hence, her words were naturally unpleasant.

She was from one of the Ten Elites of Bardoff City. The Walters made a big fuss about Graham's past affairs, and many people knew about it. Everyone was waiting to see the Walters suffer from embarrassment. If Rowena hadn't agreed to marry him, Graham wouldn't have been able to make any daughter of one of the Ten Elites his wife.

After learning that her father used to like another woman, Jolene felt slightly disconcerted. She could somewhat understand why her mother was always so angry.

"Mom, there's no need to be angry. You're the ultimate winner,*' Jolene comforted her.

Hearing that, Rowena nodded. "You're right. I'm the winner."

Jenny might not even be alive to return to the Walters. Even if she did, Rowena wasn't afraid of her at all. Once she figured that out, she wasn't so worried anymore.

Graham didn't know what the mother and daughter discussed. At this moment, he was sitting in his office and thinking about what Rowena had said. He felt extremely pained inside.

Rowena had been right. He couldn't protect his beloved and his daughter because he’d been powerless back then. His daughter wouldn't need to suffer so much if not for that. Although he had tried his best to provide her the best of everything, he felt indebted to her because she didn't get to grow up under his care.

And what about her? He didn't know if she was still alive after being taken away by that group of people all those years ago. If she was still alive, why didn't she come to find him? Did she hate him? Graham held his head, being reminded of his failure pained him greatly.

Jenny landed at Bardoff Airport. It was only the second time she was there, but she had familiarized herself with everything since she might have to visit Bardoff City often in the future. Mainly, it was to help perform surgery on Natalia's grandfather; secondly, to inquire about the Walters' situation and then decide whether or not to take Ash to them.

"Dr. Walter, let's get in the car and go to the hospital to see my grandpa first,"

Natalia said. At the moment, she had a very complicated feeling.

There was joy but also worry. But no matter what, she had no choice at this point and could only pray for the surgery to go smoothly and that it would help extend her grandfather's lifespan.

Getting in the Cruzes' car, Jenny went with Natalia to the hospital. When she met Natalia's grandfather, she greeted him with a smile without asking too much about his illness.

They walked out of the ward, but before Natalia could say anything, other members of the Cruz family were somewhat dissatisfied, and they made it known. "Natalia, is this the doctor you found for Grandpa? She’s probably younger than you, right? Are you kidding us?"

They thought Natalia had found a skilled doctor, but they didn't expect it to be such a young girl, which was simply ridiculous.

Natalia glared at them and said irritably, "Dr. Walter is very capable. Stop with the nonsense!" "Very capable? Is she more capable than the doctors at Bardoff Hospital?" They didn't believe it.

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 485-Worry About Yourself They didn't believe her, but Jenny didn't mind it and said nothing. It wasn't wise to make grand promises right away, for anything could happen, and unexpected circumstances could arise.

"Is everything okay on your end?" Jenny looked at the people who had spoken up just now and then turned to Natalia. The surgery required the approval of all members of the Cruz family; otherwise, there would be trouble later.

Natalia nodded, "Don't worry, I'll take care of them."

She didn't care about those people; she had already convinced her parents, and her grandfather agreed that the surgery was necessary.

"Okay? Jenny nodded and said, "Tomorrow, besides me being the surgeon, we will also need doctors from other departments to cooperate. So, arrangements with the hospital…"

"You don't have to worry about it. I'll take care of everything. Just tell me what to do," Natalia said.

Jenny nodded in response. She could tell that Natalia really wanted to save her grandfather. After giving brief instructions about what to do, Jenny left the hospital but didn't go back to her hotel. Instead, she drove to where the Walters were located.

It wasn't hard to find. In fact, the Walter Inc building was in the city center, and Walter Castle was easy to locate. Jenny only took a look at the entrance and didn't alert anyone.

She would wait until after Natalia's grandfather's surgery to make her move. She thought it was risky to do anything now since she’d given Natalia her word. If something went wrong and she couldn't perform the surgery for Natalia's grandfather, she would have to bear the guilt for the rest of her life.

Meanwhile, Alec was at a bar in Parrington. He knew that Jenny had gone to Bardoff City, but he didn't follow her. He felt he had no right to go and knew Jenny went there to perform surgery. Paul sat across from him and saw the worry on his face, finding it amusing.

"I heard Jenny comes from an impressive background. Aren't you afraid she won't return after she goes to Bardoff City?" It wasn't that he was teasing Alec intentionally, but the possibility of what he brought up was indeed very high.

Alec took a sip of his drink and looked up at him, feeling somewhat helpless.

"She has found her family, so I should be happy for her. Would it be right for me to stop her from returning to them?"

"Happy? Are you really happy?" Paul sneered. He couldn't see even a hint of happiness on Alec's face.

Alec ignored Paul's sarcasm. After all, he really wasn't feeling any joy right then.

He took another sip of his drink and looked at Paul. "You seem to be quite happy lately," he said. "Didn't Stephanie give you any trouble?"

"What trouble can she give me? Does she have the guts to ignore her family's interests?" Paul looked very confident, as if he had Stephanie in the palm of his hand.

Alec didn't think so. Perhaps Stephanie didn't have any plans to make things difficult for Paul, but based on his understanding of Jenny, she wouldn't just stand by and watch her friend suffer in such a situation. Then again, he didn't say anything. It wasn't that he wasn't being a good friend; he'd already lied to Jenny once for Paul's sake, so he couldn't help Paul anymore.

"I think you should worry about yourself instead of being concerned about my affairs. I think you and Jenny may be growing further and further apart."

Although Paul didn't like Jenny, Alec was still his friend, and he hoped Alec could be happy.

When Alec heard his words, his hand holding a glass of wine stopped midair. He felt indescribably sad, but what could he do? Right now, he could only keep watch over Jenny and couldn't do anything else because he might risk further invoking her disgust toward him.

However, if one day Jenny really left him…

Alec didn't dare to think about it. He was afraid he wouldn't be able to control himself and go crazy.

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 486-If You Fail…

Two days later, the surgery for Larry Cruz, the head of the Cruz family, officially commenced. In the past two days, Jenny had prepared the surgical plan and had several exchanges with the doctors at Bardoff Hospital. Only after everyone was familiar with the plan did they decide to begin the surgery.

Early in the morning, Larry was wheeled into the operating room. Jenny changed into her surgical gown and headed toward the operating room as well.

When she reached the entrance, Natalia looked at her with reddened eyes and said, "Dr. Walter, my grandpa is in your hands.’ Jenny nodded without saying much.

"If…" Natalia started to say something but hesitated. Then, she took a deep breath and said, "If …if you fail, I wont blame you for anything. I know you've tried your best."

It took a lot of courage for her to say those words. She wanted Jenny to do her best without any worries, so she made up her mind to get it off her chest so that Jenny could carry out the surgery without worries.

Jenny raised an eyebrow but didn't say anything. She walked into the operating room. The ’In Surgery" sign lit up, and many Cruz family members waited at the door. They didn't believe in Jenny's ability but didn't want her to fail either—it was an extremely complicated feeling.

Not far away in the hospital corridor, Derrick looked toward the operating room and asked someone next to him respectfully, "Director, aren't those people the Cruzes? Wasn't it said that Mr. Cruz didn't need surgery? Why are they here today?"

"I heard that Miss Natalia Cruz brought a doctor from out of town, and it's that doctor performing the surgery on Mr. Cruz today." The director clearly knew more about what was going on.

Derrick was surprised. "The hospital's director said there was no need for surgery. How dare a doctor from out of town perform surgery on the old man instead? They must be doing it for money."

"Who knows? They insist on believing in that doctor, so we can't do anything about it." Derrick's director didn't like the doctor, but since the Cruzes insisted, there was nothing he could do. He just hoped that if the surgery failed, they wouldn't be too sad.

Derrick thought the Cruzes were foolish. In the whole of Clusia, which doctor could be better than the doctors at Bardoff Hospital? He didn't leave in a hurry but wanted to see the outcome of the surgery and how the doctor would invoke the wrath of the Cruzes should the surgery fail.

Larry was in surgery for a long time; it went on from morning till night. The Cruzes started out with hope, but as night approached, they all looked dejected.

Can a surgery that took such a long time really be successful?

Right then, the 'In Surgery" sign dimmed, and everybody started to crowd at the entrance. It wasn't only the Cruzes, but some doctors from the hospital also wanted to know the result because they didn't trust doctors from other places.

A nurse came out and looked at the Cruzes. "The patient, Larry Cruz…"

"How is my grandfather?"

"Did the surgery succeed?"

"I knew that the doctor Natalia brought was unreliable!"

The people present spoke one after another, and obviously, they assumed the surgery had failed.

Natalia felt sad, but she still scolded everyone, "Quiet down and listen to the nurse. Nurse, just go ahead and tell us the result. We're ready to accept any result.’ Natalia looked at the nurse downheartedly.

The nurse was confused and, after a while, spoke up, "Everyone, Dr. Walter said the surgery was very successful."

They were stunned as soon as those words came out of her mouth, doubting whether they'd heard her correctly.

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 487-Don't Think Too Much Natalia stared blankly into space for a while before suddenly bursting into tears.

Everyone was confused. "Wasn't the surgery successful? Why is she crying?"

they all wondered.

But soon, Natalia started laughing. “I knew Dr. Walter would succeed! I just knew it!"

She was extremely glad for her decision and for insisting on trusting Jenny.

Otherwise, things wouldn't have turned out so well.

"Miss, my grandfather…"

"He's been taken to the intensive care unit. We'll have to wait and see how he recovers in the coming days." The postoperative period was the most dangerous time, and no one could be sure that complications wouldn't arise.

Natalia nodded and thanked the nurse. While everyone went to the ICU to see her grandfather, she stayed behind. Soon, Jenny came out of the operating room, and Natalia approached her.

Jenny was a little surprised seeing her there. "Didn't the nurse tell you?

Your grandfather has been transferred to the ICU. Why aren't you making your way there to see him?"

"I know." Natalia looked at Jenny sincerely. "I just wanted to thank you personally."

Jenny laughed. "Looking at how surprised you are, I kind of suspect you didn't really have any hope for me since the beginning."

Natalia was embarrassed and couldn't admit that she had indeed doubted Jenny's abilities.

"If you never had any hope in me, why did you approach me in the first place?"

Jenny asked, puzzled by her behavior.

Natalia thought for a long time before answering, "Maybe…I just wanted to convince myself that I tried my best. I didn't want to feel guilty if my grandpa passed away."

"You should go see him. Don't think too much." Jenny patted her shoulder and smiled at her.

Her smile made Natalia feel a little dazed. She used to not understand why Alec liked Jenny so much. In terms of appearance, she didn't think she was any worse than Jenny. In terms of family background, she was far superior compared to her by a hundredfold.

Now, she understood. Jenny was simply Jenny-unique and captivating.

Natalia thanked her again and then hurried off to see Larry without dawdling on their conversation. After she left, Jenny prepared to leave the hospital. She was quite tired from the surgery, as working with doctors she was unfamiliar with required a lot of effort. There was hardly any time for her to relax during the surgery.

However, just as she took a few steps, someone quickly caught up with her and called, "Jenny."

Hearing the voice, Jenny instinctively turned her head and was surprised to see Derrick. "Aren't you supposed to be in Parrington, Derrick?"

"I just came back to Bardoff City yesterday," he replied.

He had originally planned to take a few more days off to stay in Parrington before returning to Bardoff City so that he could get to know Jenny better and make her fall in love with him. He didn't expect she would appear in Bardoff City.

Not only did she come to the city where he lived, but she also came to the hospital where he worked.

Jenny casually nodded and said, "You go ahead and do what you need to do.

I'm leaving now." She was tired and didn't want to continue making small talk with Derrick, especially since she wasn't interested in him.

Derrick, however, didn't plan to give up. He followed her and asked, uncertainty lacing his tone, "Did you perform the surgery on Larry Cruz?’ Jenny affirmed dismissively and didn't know why Derrick was so concerned about the surgery. Little did she know, since she'd successfully saved Larry's life, she hadn't only made the Cruzes immensely grateful to her, but she had also gotten everybody in Bardoff Hospital talking about her. Everyone was curious about her.

If Derrick made it known to everybody they were acquaintances, he could imagine how envious other people would be upon seeing them walking together.

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 488-Do You Feel Better?

Jenny was oblivious to what was on Derrick's mind; she would probably be speechless if she did.

The two of them walked to the hospital entrance. When Jenny realized Derrick intended to continue following her, she became annoyed and said," Is there anything else? I'm a bit tired and want to go back and rest. You should go back to your work too."

She thought she’d made herself very clear.

"I don’t have anything much going on at the moment. Since we're fellow alumni, I should treat you to a meal while you're in Bardoff City," Derrick said with a smile, not realizing how slimy he appeared.

Jenny felt repulsed by his behavior but restrained herself from losing her temper. "That's not necessary. Thanks for the offer, Derrick."

"It's nothing, really,’ he said, seemingly oblivious to her irritation. He stood in her way, showing no intention of letting her leave.

Jenny's fists clenched, but in the end, she didn't throw a punch at him." He's a fellow university alum,’ she chanted to herself inwardly. She had to hold back, or the dean would probably nag her for lashing out.

"Let's talk about it another day," Jenny replied dismissively. "I'm leaving now.’ Without another word, she moved past Derrick, hailed a taxi on the side of the road, and left quickly.

Watching her leave, Derrick felt a bit upset. Let alone Parrington, plenty of women chased after him in Bardoff Hospital, and no one would treat him with such disrespect. But then, since Jenny didn't reject him outrightly, it was possible she was still interested in him.

With that thought, Derrick felt much better. He had always believed that he was excellent, so how could anyone not like him?

Jenny, who had already left, had no idea what was going on in Derrick's head. If she'd known, she would have wanted to crack it open and see what rubbish he stored inside.

At the hotel, Jenny took a bath and lay in bed, feeling much of the tiredness dissipate from her body. She couldn't help but think about what she had to do next. The Cruzes' matter was resolved, so she needed to consider whether she should visit the Walters to look for her biological father.

She wasn't really interested in going back to the Walters, but she was extremely curious about what had happened in the past and whether her mother was still alive. If she didn't figure those things out, she felt like she would be bothered by them for the rest of her life.

Just then, her phone rang-it was Alec.

"Hi. Was the surgery successful?" Alec asked on the other end of the line.

"It went well. The surgery was a success, but whether Larry Cruz will wake up or not depends on him," Jenny replied.

Alec wasn't surprised by that. In his eyes, Jenny was always the most capable.

"Have you gotten used to staying in Bardoff City?" he asked, not really sure what to say but not wanting to hang up the call so soon. He wanted to hear Jenny's voice for a little longer.

"It's okay, but the food here still doesn't compare to Parrington," Jenny replied.

"Then come back soon, and I'll take you to eat some good food."

Jenny agreed, and the two fell into silence. After a moment, she asked,"

Have you been seeing a psychiatrist lately?"

"Yes, I have." Alec nodded. "Why are you suddenly asking?"

"Do you think it's effective? I mean, do you feel any better?"

Jenny couldn't sense any improvement in Alec. Although he was very kind and gentle toward her and missed her all the time, she felt that it was abnormal.

After all, Alec was a busy man and shouldn't have so much time to spare for her.

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 489-Not That Petty Jenny's words made Alec reflect deeply on his recent condition. Even he felt something was not quite right as he got no relief after psychotherapy. On the contrary, the fear of losing something became even more pronounced. Hearing what Jenny said, Alec realized that maybe the psychiatrist he was seeing was not good enough.

"Didn't you say you know a psychiatrist?’ Alec asked. He decided to accept Jenny's arrangement, hoping to achieve an improvement. He thought he was fine the way he was since Jenny was his everything anyway. However, if she wanted him to return to normal, there wasn't anything bad about that either. He believed that no matter his condition, his love for Jenny would not decrease by any margin.

Jenny, of course, didn't refuse Alec's request since he took the initiative to ask her. Compared to the psychiatrist Alec found himself, she trusted the one recommended by her senior more. She immediately sent the contact information to Alec, urging him to contact the psychiatrist as soon as possible.

After sending the contact information, she comforted Alec, worried he might overthink things. "I have no other intentions. Don't think too much. I'm just worried about you."

Over the phone, Alec heard how cautious she was with her words and smiled helplessly. "I know. I'm not that petty.’ They chatted for a while longer. Alec reluctantly hung up when it was getting late.

The next morning, Jenny received a call from Natalia telling her that Larry had woken up. Jenny was surprised that he had recovered so quickly. She immediately got changed and headed to the hospital. She had to see Larry in person to gauge his condition and ease her worries.

After a thorough check-up, Jenny confirmed that Larry wasn't in immediate danger. After informing the Cruzes about his optimistic condition, they all expressed their gratitude toward her.

"Dr. Walter, my parents would like to treat you to lunch. They are very grateful to you,’ Natalia told Jenny as they left the hospital room.

Jenny glanced at her and politely declined, "There's no need. This is what I should do."

"But…" Natalia was still somewhat unwilling to relent. She felt that Jenny had helped them a lot, but they had nothing to repay her with.

As if knowing what she was thinking, Jenny smiled and said, "Don't feel like you owe this to me. You guys have paid for the surgery, after all.' Her surgery fee was expensive, especially since she came from Parrington to Bardoff City to do it.

"I know you don't care about money, Dr. Walter." Although Natalia didn't spend much time with Jenny, she was sure of it. If Jenny really liked money that much, she could have just married Alec instead of going through all this trouble.

Jenny smiled but didn't nod at that comment. No one could say they didn't care about money; it was just that everyone had a different perspective on how important money was to them.

After rejecting the hospitality of Natalia's family once more, Jenny was ready to leave the hospital. Since she'd already instructed Natalia's family on what to do, she didn't have to worry about Larry's recovery anymore. The doctors in Bardoff City were experts in that aspect.

Derrick seemed to have been waiting for her as she walked out of the hospital doors. He went over to her as soon as she appeared.

"Jenny, do you have any plans for today? Let me treat you to a meal." At this point, Derrick had changed out of his white coat and was wearing a black suit, looking quite sharp.

Jenny, however, was truly uninterested in him. "I'm sorry, I'm busy today too. I appreciate your offer, Derrick, but we don't need to have a meal together.

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 490-Take the Hint She thought she had made herself very clear the previous day. Derrick was smart, so there was no way he couldn't take the hint. To Jenny's surprise, he was totally oblivious and approached her again.

"Jenny, we graduated from the same university. There's no need to push me away like this, right?" Derrick desperately tried to establish a closer connection with her.

However, it was obviously not very successful, as Jenny was repulsed by his words. "Although we are fellow alumni, that doesn't mean we're close. I thought my attitude toward you had made things very clear, but now it seems you didn't understand what I meant. Well then, let me make it crystal clear now."

Jenny looked at him with a cold expression.

"I'm not interested in you, Derrick, whether as friends or in any other kind of relationship. So, can you please step aside?"

She didn't want to say such harsh words, but Derrick just didn't get it. If she didn't make it clear, he might keep bothering her.

Derrick's face was a kaleidoscope of colors upon hearing Jenny's merciless rebuke. "Jenny! Arent you being too harsh? As a fellow university alum, I invited you for a meal out of kindness. Not only did you not appreciate my good intentions, but you also did it with such a repulsive attitude. I really don't understand how someone like you can graduate from Parrington Medical University!’ His voice was quite loud, so the people passing by stopped to look at them.

Jenny looked at Derrick and felt that he was wearisome. "Is that all? If you're done, I’ll be on my way."

She wasn't interested in him, nor did she mean to teach him a lesson. Jenny didn't mind the things he said during his outburst; she wasn't so petty. With that, she left the hospital, leaving Derrick standing awkwardly at the door.

At that moment, he felt like everyone's eyes were on him, sneering at him.

Yesterday, he boasted to his colleagues that Jenny was interested in him, but today he was proven wrong publicly. He could guess what those people thought of him right then. He'd been given lots of recognition and praise since he was young; he couldn't swallow such a humiliating rejection. He snorted coldly and left the hospital, determined to find a way to teach Jenny a lesson.

"So what if you have a renowned professor as your mentor? What does that matter? He's too far away to be able to help you in any way. You don't hold a candle to me in Clusia!" Derrick thought furiously. He had a lot of thoughts in his mind and was determined to not let the matter slide until he got revenge for his humiliation.

Jenny didn't even think about Derrick anymore as soon as she left. Instead, she took a taxi to a shopping mall near Walter Inc. She sat in a cafe on the eighteenth floor of the mall with a perfect view of the Walter Inc building outside the window. She gazed at the building, lost in thought.

"Jo, why did your dad freeze your card? Did you have a fight with him?" Came the voice of a young woman nearby.

Jolene was angry when she heard that and complained, "It's all because of that cheap woman named Jenny Walter. My dad said I can't compare to her, so we argued a bit, and then he froze my card."

If it weren't for her mom giving her some pocket money, Jolene really didn't know how to get by.

"Jenny?" The others weren't very familiar with the name. "Is she the one Christopher brought back from the small town before?"

"N-No!"

"That's her." Jolene nodded. "I heard that because of her, Mr. Spade was hospitalized. It must be because he wouldn't acknowledge her, so Christopher argued with him, which led to the old man's hospitalization." "I don't know what Christopher was thinking. How could he argue with his grandfather over a woman from a small town like that?
