To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 471-Thanks Anyway Even with that, Old Mr. Faust still told Jenny truthfully, ’Actually, I don't know much about it either. I just happened to be in Parrington when this incident occurred, so I learned about it by chance."

"By chance?" Jenny didn't believe there could be such a coincidence.

"Ah, never mind. It was actually because of your grandfather that I knew. He told me about it when he was still the Walters' servant." Old Mr. Faust knew that Jenny didn't believe him, so he decided to be honest. Since Jenny had already found out that much, there was no longer a need to hide anything.

"My grandfather? Why would he tell you?" Jenny didn't understand. Under reasonable circumstances, her grandfather should have kept this a secret and not told Old Mr. Faust.

"Your grandfather and I were good friends in Bardoff City. Later, when he brought you to Orchid Village, he couldn't ask the Walters to provide assistance, or it would attract attention. So, I was the one who had been helping him all these years," Old Mr. Faust explained.

Jenny seemed to understand the situation a little better as she listened.

However, she immediately thought of something and asked anxiously, "So, what about my marriage with Alec?"

"Well, you can consider it your grandfather's repayment to me. Then again, it's not quite accurate to say that. It's more like your grandfather's way of protecting you," Old Mr. Faust sighed. He paused briefly and continued, "At that time, no one knew when your father would come to take you back. Your grandfather had to make sure you would be in safe hands. Although the Fausts were not as powerful as the Walters, we still had some influence in Parrington. Your grandfather made that decision because we would be able to keep you safe on our turf."

Jenny believed most of what Old Mr. Faust had told her. He might not be her biological grandfather, but after so many years of spending time together, Jenny knew Old Mr. Faust had always had her best interests at heart.

After a long silence, Jenny finally said, "What about my mother? After she gave birth to me…"

"It seems she's dead," Old Mr. Faust said. He knew that his words might sting, but he spoke the truth.

"Seems?" Jenny frowned, wondering why he couldn't give a definite answer on whether she was dead or not.

Old Mr. Faust smiled bitterly and explained, "Your father was the only one present at that time. He said she was dead, and there was no evidence to suggest otherwise. Besides, he did erect a tombstone for your mother later on."

As far as he was concerned, Jenny's mother had passed away. If she hadn't, her father wouldn't have done what he did.

"I see." Jenny nodded, feeling like she had asked all the questions she could possibly ask. She didn’t know what other question she could raise at this point.

Seeing her like that, Old Mr. Faust thought of his grandson and decided to say a few more things. "Alec doesn't have an idea about your true identity. But I'm sure you can tell how he feels about you."

"Are you sure he doesn't know?" Jenny was somewhat doubtful.

"At least not when he started to like you. I was the one who told him later." Old Mr. Faust chose not to lie, as he didn't want to risk creating any misunderstandings between the two.

Unfortunately, Jenny didn't think of it the same way. After discovering Old Mr.

Faust's kindness toward her was all a lie, she was now skeptical of everything he said.

"Thank you for telling me all of this anyway," Jenny said, thanking him for the information. She didn't want to think about anything else for now.

Her mind was in chaos. All these years, she'd thought she was just an ordinary girl from Orchid Village. Who would have known that things weren't so simple?

And what about her father, whom she'd never met? If he knew she existed, why hadn't he come to see her all these years?

Perhaps he'd forgotten about her existence altogether.

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 472-Divorce if There Is No Love ‘There's no need to thank me. You already know everything anyway, don’t you?

You’ll know the specifics sooner or later." Zachary was helpless. If it hadn't been for the fact Jenny had found out about almost everything, he wouldn't have taken the initiative to tell her about all that.

Jenny smiled when she heard that, but her smile was a weak and slightly guilty one. She didn't dare to tell Zachary she was just trying her luck by pretending to have found out about her true identity. In fact, she didn't ask about anything when she went to Bardoff City. On top of that, Mr. Spade had already gone to the hospital before she could get to him.

Meanwhile, in the kitchen downstairs, Alec instructed the chef to cook the dishes that Jenny liked. Mortimer also walked into the kitchen and looked at Alec coldly.

"Why do you insist on being with that woman?"

Alec was slightly stunned when he heard this, and did not turn his head to look at Mortimer. He continued to give the chef instructions.

"She’s not a good match for you. I'm telling you this for your own good,"

Mortimer continued.

This time, Alec turned around and walked toward him. He stopped right before Mortimer and said softly, "Grandpa said that he has told you about Jenny's identity.” Mortimer was a little taken aback but didn’t deny it.

"In that case, the status problem you pointed out doesn’t exist at all. What is your reason for opposition?" Alec looked him in the eyes. He stared at Mortimer intently, as if he wanted to see through the latter.

Mortimer felt uncomfortable under his piercing gaze. He coughed dryly and then said, "I object to your relationship with her because I think you're not suitable for each other. It has nothing to do with her identity."

As soon as he said that, Alec couldn't help but burst out laughing. He couldn't comprehend how Mortimer was able to utter bullshit that he didn't mean at all.

Tm not suitable for her, but you think Alfred is right for her, don't you?" Alec asked with a frosty expression. Evidently, he could see through Mortimer's wishful thinking thoroughly.

Before Mortimer found out about Jenny’s identity, the reason he would object to their relationship was understandable. After all, people like him attached great importance to benefits and interests. Back then, Jenny could not bring anything to the table in his eyes, so he naturally wouldn't agree forthem to get together.

But now, that problem no longer existed. Not only that, but once Jenny officially returned to her family, he would be the less significant party instead. In this case, Mortimer had no reason to object. However, his opposition, coupled with Alfred going to Jenny's company to work, suggested that the father and son duo were plotting something behind the scenes. Alec was relatively certain of this.

When Alec mentioned Alfred, Mortimer was not surprised. He didn't plan to hide it from Alec in the first place. "Alfred…He's your brother."

"Heh." Alec snorted sarcastically, looking into Mortimer's eyes as if he was looking at a fool.

"I know the events back then made you hate me, but Alec, don't you understand how painful it is to live with someone you don't love? You should be able to understand me." He sighed, trying to seek Alec's forgiveness.

It was a pity Alec was never exactly a soft-hearted person.

Hearing him say that, Alec could barely hold himself back from punching his father. "If you don’t love someone, you can divorce them, instead of hurting them the way you did!"

"I admit that you're right. I was wrong. I was too young at the time to think about the consequences, and I didn't expect your mother to take it so far." He really didn't expect Alec's mother would commit suicide.

Alec couldn’t be bothered to discern whether Mortimer meant what he'd said. It didn't matter to him the least bit.

"Ask Alfred to stay away from Jenny. No matter what plans you two have, don't drag Jenny into any of them." Alec gave Mortimer a warning.

Mortimer laughed dryly. He didn't agree, nor did he refuse. He simply smiled ambiguously, which made Alec feel exceptionally irritated.

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 473-Why Do You Like Me?

When the two were in a stalemate, Jenny came down from upstairs. Alec ignored Mortimer right away and walked over to her.

"Are you done talking to Grandpa?" he asked.

Jenny nodded and glanced at Alec meaningfully but didn't say anything. Alec could feel the emotion in her eyes, but if she didn't want to tell him about it, he wouldn't ask-at least, not now.

Not long after, Old Mr. Faust came down too. "Let's eat.” Soon, the four of them sat at the dining table. Perhaps the atmosphere became a little awkward because of Jenny's presence. Old Mr. Faust knew that Jenny wasn't happy about what he'd told her, but he didn't offer her words of advice.

He figured she would have to get over it by herself, and there was no point in others persuading her. It would only make her pull away even further.

He then glanced at his grandson and saw that he’d been staring at Jenny. He could only sigh helplessly. Alec was exceptional in every aspect; his only flaw was he loved too deeply when he fell for someone. Old Mr. Faust wondered how much more he would have to suffer at Jenny's hand.

As he thought of that, he decided it wasn't his place to worry anymore. They were all adults, so they should figure things out on their own.

"Miss Walter, my son, Alfred, is working in your company. Please offer him your guidance," Mortimer said suddenly, surprising the other three people at the table.

Jenny was especially surprised. "Why are you admitting so openly that Alfred is your son? Don't you care about Old Mr. Faust and Alec's feelings?" she wondered silently.

She looked at Old Mr. Faust, who seemed unruffled as usual. He carried on eating indifferently, not finding Mortimer's words surprising at all.

Returning to her senses, Jenny smiled politely and neutrally. "If Alfred is capable, he'll naturally get to where he deserves to be; if not, even if you pave the way for him as a father, I'm afraid you'll just waste your time in the end.” She wasn't stupid. Just when she was close to finding out about everything from Old Mr. Faust, Alfred suddenly came to work in her company. The turn of events definitely had something to do with her identity. Everyone approached her with ulterior motives. Under such a circumstance, it was hard for Jenny to feel happy about what was unfolding around her.

Mortimer's face pulled down slightly; he didn't expect Jenny would respond to him so bluntly.

Jenny didn't pay any attention to him. She focused on eating her food and didn't give a damn what he thought. Alec was deeply overjoyed at this and felt that Jenny retorted well.

After dinner, it was time for Jenny to leave. Alec walked out of the Old Mansion with her. On the way back to the apartment, Jenny didn't speak. Her silence made Alec a little uneasy.

"Jenny, you came to ask Grandpa about your birth and origin, right?" Alec asked, feeling that staying in that awkward silence wouldn't do them any good.

Jenny withdrew her gaze from the scenery outside and looked at him indifferently. "You knew, didn't you?"

Alec didn't deny it. He understood that he could no longer deceive Jenny.

Otherwise, he would only push her further and further away.

Jenny chuckled humorlessly. "Your grandfather said you didn't know anything."

She was actually hesitating about how to broach the subject with Alec. If she didn't do it well, Alec would feel she was suspecting him. However, she now felt that she’d been careful and thought too much-he'd known all along.

"I only found out about it later on." At that time, he'd already fallen for Jenny.

Jenny didn't care. She sneered, "You know, Alec. I've always wondered, was my true identity part of why you like me? It didn't quite make sense for the CEO of Faust Group to suddenly fall for me."

She never believed in love at first sight nor felt that she was that attractive.

The only plausible explanation was that he'd approached her with something in mind from the very beginning.

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 474-Zero Trustworthiness The brakes sounded, and the car stopped at the side of the road. Jenny was about to ask Alec what was going on when she saw him looking at her intently.

His look seemed to suggest that she had hurt his feelings.

"I should be the one feeling hurt,” Jenny thought.

' Jenny, am I such a terrible person in your eyes?" Alec asked in a low voice after some time; the tone of his voice was indescribably sad.

The sight of Alec looking so broken tugged at Jenny's heartstrings, but she still smiled and said, "To tell you the truth, Alec; your trustworthiness is basically zero."

Alec smiled bitterly, knowing that this was all his own doing. "I’m sorry…"

"You don't have to apologize to me, even if you really had ulterior motives at the beginning, I don't care. After all, I know you meant it when you showed me you genuinely loved me, and I really did feel happiness during those times."

She looked at Alec with a faint smile as she said that. However, those words cut at Alec's heart like knives, bringing him immense torment.

"Jenny…"

"It's getting late. You should continue driving back."

Jenny withdrew her gaze and no longer looked at Alec but at the scenery outside the window again. It was as if she didn't want to continue talking. Alec felt helpless, and he didn't know how to explain everything to her.

After all, the fact remained that he'd known about it for some time and didn't tell her.

The car started again. After a short while, they arrived at the Perry Residence.

They walked into the elevator one after the other, but no one spoke. Soon, Jenny arrived at her door, and Alec felt that if he didn't say something, he would lose his chance.

"Jenny," he called out to her.

Jenny turned around and looked at him inquisitively.

"I like you, and it has nothing to do with your background. Sometimes I hope you were really an ordinary person, and that would make everything so much easier." He smiled wryly, with a bit of helplessness.

If Jenny were an ordinary person, he could like her, and no one could say anything about it. Unfortunately, she wasn't, so it became much more difficult for them to be together.

Jenny looked at him and saw the sincerity in his eyes, but she couldn't believe in him anymore. "Maybe. Actually, I don't really care whose child I am. I just want to find out the truth."

In her heart, her only family was her grandfather and her two brothers. As for her biological parents, she couldn't care less. Since she had no feelings for them, they naturally didn't matter.

"I understand." Alec nodded, knowing that Jenny must be serious.

"Do you…trust me?" Alec looked at her, feeling apprehensive, afraid that Jenny could no longer trust him.

Jenny smiled and replied, "If you were true to yourself, why would you care whether others believed you? Isn't it enough as long as you have a clear conscience?"

Alec smiled bitterly. What Jenny said sounded reasonable, but it was easier said than done. He felt that he hadn't come to that point, and there was no way for him to not care what others thought, especially when it concerned the person most important to him.

Unfortunately, Jenny had already walked into her condo, leaving Alec standing outside alone.

Jenny lay on the sofa, not wanting to move at all. The truth she'd been pursuing for a long time finally revealed itself. However, she wasn't as happy as she thought. On the contrary, she kind of hoped it was fake.

She didn't care about being one of the Walters of Bardoff City.

At that moment, her phone rang. Jenny looked at it, and despite her exhaustion, she still answered the call. "Gilbert."

"Jenny, I'll be back soon. What do you want? I'll make sure to buy it for you."

Gilbert was still as gentle as ever, but sadly, Jenny couldn't be as carefree as she used to be.

She didn't speak, and Gilbert immediately noticed something was off." What's wrong? Did something happen?"

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 475-Are You Going Back to the Walters?

"I've found out about everything," Jenny said lightly. Through the phone, the tone of her voice didn't seem to carry any emotion.

Gilbert wanted to ask what she knew. Right when he was about to, he suddenly thought of something, and he couldn't help but clench his phone a little harder.

"About your background?"

"Yeah." She told Gilbert because she wanted to see if she could get some other information that she didn't know about from him.

This time, it was Gilbert's turn to be silent. As he didn't say anything, it made Jenny a little perplexed. "Gilbert, tell me everything you know."

After another round of silence, Gilbert sighed and replied a little helplessly," I knew that once you found out you weren't Grandpa's biological granddaughter, you would definitely figure things out. I just didn't expect you to be so fast."

He thought it would take a while for Jenny to learn the truth, but he didn't expect it to be that soon. He'd underestimated his sister.

"I just want to figure everything out. Grandpa will always be my grandfather. You and Zack will always be my brothers, too," Jenny said.

Gilbert breathed a sigh of relief-that was the Jenny he knew.

After that, he told Jenny everything he knew. However, what he knew was similar to what Old Mr. Faust had told her, so it didn't make much of a difference to Jenny.

After Gilbert finished speaking, he couldn't help but ask, "Do you plan to go back to the Walters?"

He didn't want Jenny to go back. All these years, he'd been paying attention to the Walters. That family was far from being as peaceful as it seemed to outsiders, especially the woman Jenny’s father married—she definitely had some tricks up her sleeve. If Jenny went back, she would suffer at her hands.

"Maybe. I still want to find out what happened back then. I also need to know whether my mom is still alive." Although Zachary said her mother had probably died, Jenny still held a glimmer of hope.

Plus, her father had asked different teachers to teach her over the years. He must have done it for a reason. Even if she didn't go and knock on their door, it might not be long before they come to her instead.

Jenny wasn't one who would sit by and wait like a sitting duck; she preferred to have everything in her control. Therefore, she decided to settle the matters on her end first, and then she would take the initiative to meet her father, whom she’d never met.

Gilbert wasn't surprised by her decision. It was even kind of expected. ’ Don't worry, I'll come back soon. I'll go with you when the time comes."

He wouldn't feel at ease if Jenny went alone. Jenny didn't refuse him since she would feel bad turning down his offer to accompany her. Given that Gilbert decided to come back, he'd figured everything out. If that were the case, she would welcome him back as her brother. She had no reason to turn down her brother, who was standing up for her.

After hanging up the call with Gilbert, Jenny lay on her bed. Her gloomy mood was slightly uplifted. At the end of the day, it was still better to know everything than to be kept in the dark.

Jenny gradually fell asleep. Downstairs, someone stood under the streetlamp and looked up at the window of her condo.

Parrington Medical University was celebrating its 60th anniversary. When Jenny arrived with her invitation in hand, the university was already very crowded.

Besides outstanding alumni like them who were specifically invited to go back, many graduates also came back spontaneously to participate in the event, in addition to the undergraduate students. As a result, the number of people who came was huge. Even Jenny was a little surprised that so many people showed up.

Holding her invitation, she found her designated seat. It was a relatively front seat, and many people were already sitting in that row.

As soon as Jenny sat down, someone greeted her. "Hello, I'm Derrick Clearwater. I was invited to come back as an outstanding alumnus. You too, right?"

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 476-Flabbergasted Jenny nodded, guessing that the people sitting in that row should all be excellent alumni. A few of them were even famous figures that Jenny had already known when she was still studying. It was just that she didn’t care much back then, as she immersed herself in studying. Her relationship with her classmates was average at best. Now that she had come, there were only a few people whom she really knew.

“Hello, I’m Jenny Walter.” She nodded politely, not meaning to continue the conversation with the other person.

However, Derrick obviously didn’t intend to stop there. Still seated next to Jenny, he said, “You’re so young. You just graduated not long ago, right? You must be excellent to be invited back to the anniversary celebration as an outstanding graduate. So, what scientific research experience do you have? Which hospital are you working at?” Those seated there either had prolific scientific research experience or worked in top hospitals; in Derrick’s case, he was the latter. He was the chief physician of Bardoff Hospital and had always been very proud of it.

Jenny frowned, as she really didn’t know about any of that. “I’m working in Parrington Hospital.” As for scientific research experience, Jenny did have some, but they were all published when she was abroad. Not only that, but she was also backed by her teacher, so publishing some articles was naturally not a problem for her. Jenny felt it wasn’t her own achievement, so she didn’t plan to tell anyone about it.

At that moment, many people were pricking up their ears to listen to the conversation between them. After all, they were very curious about how the university determined who were outstanding graduates. Upon hearing that Jenny was working in Parrington Hospital, many people’s expressions changed subtly. There was a hint of condescension in the way they looked at her.

Parrington Hospital may be considered a top hospital in Parrington itself, but within the country, it could only be regarded as an ordinary third-class hospital. It wasn’t even known internationally. They can’t figure out why Jenny could be considered an outstanding alumnus.

Of course, Jenny noticed the change in everyone’s demeanor, but she didn’t care. She came today as a sign of respect for her university. As for the other people there, she couldn’t care less about them. Turning her attention to the high platform in front of her, she saw that the university’s president had already gone up to give his speech. Jenny listened carefully, ignoring Derrick’s look of bewilderment.

The speech ended quickly, and afterward an outstanding graduate came on stage to speak. That person shared that they worked in the laboratory of a certain big wig and published countless academic articles. Many people buttered up to him, hoping he would collaborate with them when he published his next article.

Jenny didn’t care about all that. She couldn’t wait to leave after attending the celebration. However, she didn’t get her wish. After all that, the dean invited all the outstanding graduates to a private dinner. In this case, Jenny could only follow even if she didn’t really want to go.

At the restaurant, in a private room, many people chatted freely with the dean.

Probably because they’d achieved something over the years, they weren’t so afraid anymore when they saw the dean who was once intimidating.

Jenny sat in one corner and ate her food silently. Being a wallflower wasn’t all that bad.

“Miss Walter, don’t sit alone and eat silently. Tell your classmates about your experience. Although you may not have studied in the same year, you’re still an alumnus who graduated from the same institution. You must look after your fellow alumni.” The dean suddenly called upon Jenny, which surprised many people. They all knew that Jenny worked at Parrington Hospital. What experience would someone working in such a hospital have? And why would they need her care?

Jenny was also flabbergasted.

“Do you still remember me, Dean Howard? How many years has it been since I graduated?” Jenny thought.

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 477-Different Light What surprised everyone even more was that after the dean called upon Jenny, he got up and walked to her. He then said with a smile, “You’ve been the best student at our university for so many years. I’ve always been proud of you.” Jenny was immensely surprised when by that. She hurriedly got up. “Dean Howard, you flatter me too much. Everyone here is equally excellent.” Others were naturally dissatisfied when they heard the dean’s words, but they couldn’t lose their temper on such an occasion. They could only comment disparagingly, “Dean Howard, although Parrington Hospital is quite good. It’s not exactly difficult to land a job there.” If they wanted to work in Parrington Hospital, they could all get in quite easily. It definitely wasn’t as difficult as entering Bardoff Hospital.

Derrick was also unhappy. He worked in Bardoff Hospital, yet the dean didn’t even bat an eyelash at him. “Don’t say that. She probably graduated not too long ago. It’s quite an achievement to get into a hospital like Parrington Hospital for her.” Although he sounded amicable, many people could hear the irony in his words.

Jenny, of course, detected the sarcasm in his words and frowned in response.

The dean wasn’t aware of what they were all thinking. He announced with a light smile, “Although Miss Walter is young, many of you here are her juniors. She graduated with a doctorate at 22 and is now the deputy director of the brain surgery department of Parrington Hospital.” Everyone was shocked when they heard that. Graduating with a doctorate at the age of 22 was impressive; however, that didn’t make everyone change their opinion of her. After all, this could only prove that Jenny was very good at studying and was a top student; it didn’t say anything. about her medical skills.

More importantly, networking was the most important thing in the medical industry. It was almost certain that Jenny had limited contacts since she worked at Parrington Hospital, so everyone naturally didn’t think too highly of her.

“Miss Walter, is your teacher doing well? Recently, there seems to be a new breakthrough in his laboratory, and he’ll be invited to give a speech at our university at any time,” the dean continued, coming to his real purpose.

Jenny returned to her senses and understood the meaning of the dean’s words.

“Thank you for your kind praise. I’ll definitely talk to him about this when I go back.” “Good, good. As expected of an excellent graduate like you. I believe your future achievements will definitely not pale in comparison to your teacher’s.” The dean was just being polite when he said that. If one knew who Jenny’s teacher was, one would know surpassing that person was close to being impossible.

The dean walked back to his seat. Many people had already begun to inquire about Jenny’s actual credentials. They believed that Dean Howard wasn’t a fool.

If Jenny was just an ordinary doctor at Parrington Hospital, even if she was the deputy director, he wouldn’t flatter her so much.

Soon, they all found out who Jenny was.

After graduating from Parrington Medical University, Jenny was directly admitted to a famous. foreign medical university. She honed her skills under a top professor in the field of brain surgery. who was internationally renowned for being the best brain surgeon. Jenny had studied under him and soon became known as Dr. Walter.

Information about Jenny could be found on the internet easily. At that moment, everyone looked at her in a different light.

Derrick’s mood was extremely complicated at the moment. He was still reeling in shock that Jenny had studied under that renowned professor and published many academic articles under the name of Dr. Walter. He couldn’t believe that such a genius existed.

Jenny ignored everyone’s envious stares and quietly continued with her meal.

She tried to make herself as unnoticeable as possible. But that turned out to be an impossible task. Many people came over to her and asked her for her contact number. Since they were fellow alumni and also working in the same field, she couldn’t reject them outrightly. By the end of dinner that day, she was forced to add a large number of new contacts to her phone.

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 478-Good Relationship After dinner was over, Jenny walked out of the restaurant and took a deep breath. she felt much more relaxed after taking in some fresh air. She was still uncomfortable with social settings like these. Burying her head in surgery or scientific research was more suitable for her.

As she was thinking about that, Derrick walked to her side without her noticing.

He seemed to have something to say to her but found it difficult to find the words. “Miss Walter.” Jenny graduated earlier than him, so she was his senior. He felt awkward about that fact.

On the other hand, Jenny wasn’t bothered about things like that. She turned to look at him. “What do you need?” “Nothing, really.” Derrick smiled awkwardly, not daring to look into Jenny’s eyes.

“I haven’t come to Parrington for several years, and I feel that this place has changed a lot. I’m no longer familiar with this city.” Jenny thought to herself, “So?” “Do you have time tomorrow? Can you show me around Parrington?” In the end, he endured his embarrassment and asked her out.

He’d been busy working over the years, so he’d always been single. Because of his own high. requirements for his other half, he felt that the people introduced by his family were not worthy of him. Now that he had met such an outstanding person, he didn’t want to miss his chance with her.

He felt that although he wasn’t as good as Jenny, he was still not too shabby.

After all, he worked in Bardoff Hospital, which was definitely better than Jenny working in Parrington Hospital. At that moment, he didn’t understand that Jenny chose to work in Parrington Hospital because it was her own choice and not because she could only work there.

Jenny responded apologetically, “Sorry, I’m really busy. There are a lot of surgeries to be done in the hospital. I don’t think I have the time to accompany you. But you can ask the other alumni. They should also be here in Parrington; you can join them.” She rejected his invitation, so Derrick left it at that. “Okay, that is understandable. I’ll contact you again in a few more days.” Two honks sounded from not far away. Jenny instinctively looked over and saw Alec getting down from his car. Obviously, he’d been waiting there for a long time. Jenny didn’t expect he would appear. After returning to her senses, she said, “I have to go. See you.” “See you.” Derrick quickly nodded and watched Jenny walk toward Alec.

As the two got in the car and left his sight, Derrick felt a certain emotion in his heart he couldn’t quite put his finger on. He just knew that it didn’t feel too good.

After so many years, he thought he had finally met someone who was on par with him and deserved his companionship. Alas, she already had a boyfriend, or perhaps he could be her husband. With a sigh, he decided that he needed to ask around to find out more.

Alec didn’t say a word as he drove. He was obviously not in a good mood.

Jenny knew why he was angry. She discreetly covered her mouth and smiled, not intending to explain anything. She wanted to see how long Alec could hold it in.

It turned out that Alec couldn’t hold back for long.

“Who was that person just now?” he asked. Although he tried to pretend to be casual, his tone exposed his actual mood.

Jenny smiled and leaned against the car window to look at Alec. “Well, he was a fellow graduate who participated in the university’s anniversary celebration like me.” “I see,” Alec answered sternly. His mood soured further. “You guys have a good relationship?” he asked. It would be a sleepless night if he didn’t get a clear answer.

Jenny suppressed her laughter. “I would say we’re on okay terms. I just met him today.” Alec was inexplicably relieved, but he still said, “I don’t think he looks like he’d just met you.” Men knew men best, so Alec could tell what Derrick was up to.

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 479-I Just Want Your Life Jenny chuckled and didn’t take it seriously. “Who knows? I’m not interested in him anyway.” She wasn’t joking; she really wasn’t interested in Derrick. Hence, she didn’t care about what he was up to. It had nothing to do with her as far as she was concerned.

Upon hearing Jenny’s words, Alec inexplicably breathed a sigh of relief once more. It was good that she wasn’t interested in him. He was dreading that Jenny might somehow be interested.

Alec drove at a consistent speed. Soon, they arrived at the entrance of Perry Residence. After Jenny got out of the car in the underground parking lot, she noticed that Alec was still inside and hadn’t gotten out yet. She asked, “Do you have something else to do?” “Yeah. There’s still some work at the company,” Alec replied.

“Since you had something to do, you didn’t have to come and pick me up. It was troublesome for you to make that extra trip.” Jenny felt a little guilty. She thought Alec had come to pick her up after finishing his work.

Alec had a smile on his face as he said to her, “It’s no trouble at all. The time spent with you is the most relaxing time in my day. I wish I could be with you every day.” Although it sounded cheesy, Alec meant every word he said.

Jenny’s cheeks became slightly flushed. She didn’t expect him to be so candid and glared at him. exasperatedly. “Who wants to be with you every day? Just because you have the time for that doesn’t mean it’s the same for me.” Besides, if she remembered correctly, she hadn’t forgiven this man yet, right?

Alec didn’t argue with her. As long as Jenny understood his feelings, that was enough. “Go back quickly. I’ll leave now.” Alec waved at her and drove away.

Jenny watched his car disappear and then turned to enter the elevator, pressing the button for her floor. While waiting for the elevator, Jenny kept thinking about her relationship with Alec. Sometimes, she couldn’t figure out her own feelings toward him.

If she said she didn’t like him, it wasn’t convincing as she didn’t really mind when he got closer to her, and she even looked forward to it. But if she said she liked him, she couldn’t get over the fact that he had deceived her before. She sighed, unable to figure it out. Therefore, she decided to just let it be and see how it played out.

As she was thinking about that, footsteps approached from behind. Someone stood beside her, seemingly also waiting for the elevator.

Jenny turned her head to look, thinking it was just a neighbor from the same residential building. However, as soon as she saw the person, her hair stood on end, and she quickly moved aside by several steps.

“Hey, little girl. What a coincidence. We meet again.” The woman smiled at her, seemingly harmless.

Jenny didn’t think the same. Although the woman didn’t kill her when they last met in Bardoff City, she knew she wasn’t a match for her. If this woman wanted to kill her now, Jenny might not be able to put up a fight.

Jenny looked at her coldly, not intending to exchange pleasantries with her.

“What do you want?” “I don’t want anything,” she replied, smiling faintly. In the next second, her glare suddenly became murderous. “I just want your life.” Jenny wasn’t surprised to hear that. She didn’t think this woman would spare her every time they met. She might have been just testing something out the last time, and this time, she was really going through with what she came to do.

“Do you have a grudge against me or something?” Jenny asked because she was sure that she’d never met this woman before.

The woman chuckled. “No, not exactly. But you’ve offended someone who’s above me. I’m just doing what I’m told, so don’t blame me if you die, okay?” She acted innocent, and Jenny cursed inwardly, “How dare you pretend to be innocent when you’re here to kill me?” “I don’t understand. Why would someone like you work for someone else?” Jenny was stalling for time, not in a hurry to fight her opponent.

To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 480-One Last Question The woman pouted and said helplessly, “I don’t want to do things for others. I feel uncomfortable at being ordered around. But there is no other way since I owe it to them. Fortunately, after killing you, all of my debts with that person will be written off.” A debt of gratitude was the most difficult to repay, and she could finally pay it off after many years. Owing to that, she wouldn’t let Jenny off this time.

Jenny was speechless. “Well, good for you. You can pay back your debt. But you’re paying for it with my life!” Jenny cursed internally.

The woman wasn’t interested in chatting with Jenny anymore. She sighed, “Don’t waste my time. Let’s just go somewhere deserted and fight. You can go if you win, but if you lose…your life is mine.

“Fine.” Jenny didn’t refuse. She didn’t want to fight the woman in the lobby of Perry Residence anyway.

The two left the area and headed to the river behind it. Fewer people were there at night, so they wouldn’t be discovered if they fought there.

“May I know who you’re working for?” Jenny still couldn’t resist asking, even if it wasn’t likely the woman would tell her. Jenny thought she could try her luck because the woman didn’t seem like someone who played by the rules.

Hearing her question, the woman answered right away without thinking. “Do you know the Walters of Bardoff City?” Jenny was stunned, as she couldn’t believe it. “The Walters? Did they send you to kill me?” “Yeah.” She nodded, not understanding why Jenny was so surprised.

After a while, Jenny returned to her senses. She gritted her teeth and asked, “So, the last time you came after me was also because of the Walters?” The woman nodded in confirmation. Jenny was basically dead to her, so it didn’t matter if she told her that information. She was going to say nothing about it if Jenny didn’t ask. However, since she did, then she didn’t mind telling her.

“But why didn’t you kill me the last time?” That was something that Jenny hadn’t been able to figure out.

The woman was silent for a moment and seemed hesitant to answer that question.

Noticing this, Jenny deliberately provoked her by saying, “You’ve already told me who’s after me anyway. Is there anything else that you can’t tell me? Could it be that you’re still afraid of the Walters?” “You think I’m afraid of her?” The woman questioned in disdain. “That person just asked me to take some of your blood. Why? I didn’t ask, and I don’t give a fuck.” Indeed, she couldn’t care less about that. She just wanted to pay off the debt as soon as possible.

“Take my blood?” Jenny wondered in bewilderment. She was stunned for a moment, and then she made a guess. “Do they want to do a paternity test?” she contemplated.

But shouldn’t her father be pretty sure that she was his daughter? Otherwise, he wouldn’t have arranged for so many people to nurture her as she grew up.

“That person…” “You’ve asked too much,” the woman interrupted Jenny, tired of her endless questions. She was here to kill her, not answer her questions.

Jenny smiled dryly but still went ahead and said, “One last question.” “Is that person the Walters’ current matriarch?” Jenny was just guessing, as she thought it wasn’t. likely that her father had sent the assassin. If he really wanted to kill her, there was no need to raise her. He had ample chances to get rid of her back then.

The woman stopped and looked at Jenny. “It seems you know very well why you were targeted.*

Jenny smiled and nodded. If it was that person, then it all made sense. It seemed that woman. didn’t want her to return to the Walters. That was understandable, as she had her own daughter. If Jenny were to go back, she would be threatening her daughter’s status and the share of the inheritance she would get.

Unfortunately, she wasn’t going to let her have her wish.

Not only would Jenny return to the Walters, but she would also take back what was rightfully hers. She was someone who would pay others back in kind.

“Can we start now?” The woman was a little impatient. She was in a hurry to finish her business and grab some dinner.
