Ch. 1391..1400
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1391-In a crucial situation like this, Jenny didn't want to leave Marigold and the child alone. "It's okay. I'll stay here to be with you two. The hospital will be fine."
Marigold wanted to say more, but she knew that she wouldn't be able to change Jenny’s decision. She could only thank her.
Jenny was worried that Marigold would overthink at home, so she decided to take her shopping. She was a woman, after all. They could shop her frustrations away.
Marigold didn't object to it. She was thinking of bringing Caleb out for a spin.
The driver brought them to the mall. A bodyguard and a nanny kept close to them. Since Caleb didn't need to be personally attended to by them, it was a relatively relaxing shopping experience.
"Let's get some clothes for Caleb," Jenny said.
Marigold didn't refuse. She wanted to buy some things for Caleb to eat and play with, so she went into the baby section with Jenny.
They bought a load of stuff for the child. Jenny saw that Marigold wanted to keep going, so she took her out of the baby section and brought her to the women's luxury brands.
’ Moms can love their children, but they can't just love their kids. They need to buy some things for themselves, too." She took Marigold into one of the boutiques.
It was then that Jenny understood that it was a very, very bad decision.
Gilbert and Lottie were shopping in the exact same store. Thus, when they went in, they bumped into each other.
The atmosphere grew tense for quite a few moments. Then, Jenny pulled Marigold further into the store, not intending to turn back. If they did, it would mean that they had lost.
"This suits you, Marigold." Jenny had picked out a red dress for Marigold. It was loud, but surprisingly, it suited Marigold well. She was pale and had the perfect hair to match. With the red dress, her extraordinary beauty was further showcased.
Marigold, however, kept on refusing. When she saw Gilbert and Lottie in there, she lost all of her drive to shop. She just wanted to turn and leave.
Even though she knew that Gilbert was accompanying Lottie for a reason and didn't even like her, she still felt upset.
' Bert, I think that's your sister," Lottie said as she put her arm through Gilbert's and walked towards them.
Bert?
Marigold's heart ached. Were they that close already?
Now, even if Jenny wanted to ignore them, she couldn't. She had no choice but to face Gilbert and Lottie. "Yes, Miss Silvera. That's my brother. But ever since he returned to the Bradshaws, I haven't been keeping in touch with him," Jenny said.
This was what they had previously discussed. Jenny naturally wouldn't agree to Gilbert returning to the Bradshaws, so they decided to pretend that they had lost contact with each other. Only then would Esther be convinced that Gilbert truly wanted to return.
Lottie seemed to be hearing about this for the first time. She was shocked.
"Why? What's wrong with Bert choosing to go back to his parents? As his sister, you should be supporting him instead."
"This is between Gilbert and I. You don't have to worry about that." Jenny didn't want to keep talking to her. She was just a pawn in their game. Jenny didn't have to waste her breath.
But Lottie wouldn't let it go. When she saw that Jenny was about to leave, she pulled her back. "I think that there must be a misunderstanding between you two. Since you've met today, let's have a meal together to clear the air. What do you think, Bert?"
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1392-Jenny wanted to laugh when Lottie called Gilbert "Bert.* She had no idea how Gilbert was keeping it together.
She said nothing, looking at Gilbert.
Gilbert's gaze was gentle. He looked at Lottie as if she were his lover. "I'm fine with anything. You can decide.” “Let's have a meal together. Miss Walter." Lottie invited Jenny after getting permission from Gilbert.
Jenny hadn't wanted to agree because she was afraid of spoiling Gilbert's plans.
But she could feel that Lottie was glancing at Marigold from time to time and sensed that she was challenging her. Jenny smirked. ’Alright. But I'll have to bring a plus one."
"That's perfectly fine." Lottie didn't ask if it would be Marigold. To her, Marigold didn't seem worth mentioning. But was that really true? If it were, Lottie wouldn't be looking at Marigold.
She obviously wanted to know what Gilbert and Marigold's relationship was like, and her invitation was just to show off in front of Marigold.
Lottie and Gilbert walked out of the boutique. Gilbert had not glanced at Marigold once. She knew that he was just acting, but she still felt miserable.
When they walked out, Jenny finally looked at Marigold. “Let's go. Someone's treating us."
“I'm not going, Jenny. I'll take Caleb home. You can go." Marigold truly didn't want to see Gilbert and Lottie being affectionate to each other.
But Jenny did not agree to that. She pulled at her. "Marigold, if you go now, it means that you're afraid, and you'll lose the battle. Ignore my brother's behavior.
Right now, you can't lose to Lottie. Do you understand?"
Marigold didn't actually understand, but when she saw how serious Jenny was, she nodded.
Afterward, Jenny got the nanny and the bodyguard to take Caleb home. She brought Marigold along with Gilbert and Lottie.
They chose a restaurant upstairs. In the meantime, Gilbert was extremely polite and caring toward Lottie.
“My brother is really good to you," Jenny said sarcastically.
Lottie was not angry. She smiled at Gilbert. "He's a good person, and I like him very much. That's why I don't want anything happening between you two."
“Nothing's really happening. I just don't like that he's gone back to the Bradshaws. That means he isn't my brother anymore,’ Jenny said as she sipped her tea slowly.
“Why?* Lottie didn't understand why Jenny would say this. Would Gilbert's return to the Bradshaws affect Jenny in the slightest?
Jenny looked at her and said with a cold smile, "If he could abandon his son just to go back to the Bradshaws, he could abandon me for them, too. So why should I still see him as my brother?’ Jenny had wanted to say, "His lover's son," but then considered that Lottie would tell tales to Esther. Hence, she didn't say Marigold's name. They couldn't let her know that Gilbert and Marigold were at that stage of the relationship.
Lottie’s face paled. "His son…Well, don't worry. Once Gilbert and I marry. I'll accept his son as one of my own," she said determinedly.
Before Jenny could retort, Marigold blurted out, "Miss Silvera, forget about whether you can marry Gilbert. Even if you could, you could just have your own son. Isn't taking mine going overboard?
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1393-Everyone was shocked to hear her speak so suddenly. Lottie was stunned, and she explained, "You've misunderstood. That's not what I meant. I just think that if the child follows his father, it'll help him develop better, and you'll be less stressed."
"I don't need your concern. I can raise my child alone," Marigold snorted. She did not hold back at all.
Lottie looked unpleasant. Gilbert had no choice but to step in. "We'll have our own child together. And whoever likes it the most will get to keep it."
Although they knew that Gilbert had meant this for Lottie to hear, Marigold found it extremely upsetting.
She looked at Gilbert, and for a moment, she was unable to tell if he was being genuine. She thought of all that Gilbert had said to her last night, saying that he didn't like Lottie and had no intention of marrying her.
But he looked to be truly in love. Marigold didn't think she could tell if he was faking it.
"I'm sorry. I need to go to the restroom." Marigold didn't want to stay for another second. Especially with Gilbert's puppy eyes, every minute spent here was torture.
Jenny got up quickly, not forgetting to glare at Gilbert before she left. Although it was an act, surely there was no need for him to be that serious. He should have known that it would hurt.
Gilbert was exasperated. Lottie was no fool. How could she believe him if he wasn't a little harsher?
When she saw them walking away, Lottie said awkwardly, ’Miss Wagner seems a little sad. You shouldn't have said that, Bert."
"What do her emotions have to do with me? I only care about you." Gilbert looked at Lottie with adoration in his eyes.
Even though Lottie knew that Marigold had lived in Gilbert's villa for a while and had her doubts about their relationship, she was powerless against Gilbert when he was like this.
He was strong, capable, handsome, and was good to her. She had no reason not to like him.
"You're amazing, Bert." She leaned against his chest bashfully. Right now, she felt like the luckiest girl in the world.
Gilbert held her. If Lottie would just look up at him now, she would notice that the adoration in his eyes had completely disappeared, replaced by cold indifference.
In the restroom, Marigold wiped the corners of her eyes with water. She didn't want anyone to see that she had cried.
Jenny walked in and saw Marigold's red eyes. She felt upset, too. "Don't take his words to heart, Marigold. He was obviously only saying it for Lottie to hear."
"I know." Marigold nodded, smiling. "I just feel a little upset. I'm fine. I'll be alright in a while."
"If you don't want to see them, we can just leave." Jenny regretted accepting Lottie's invitation. It was just plain torture for Marigold.
However, Marigold didn't agree to it. "It's like you said. If I go now, that would mean that I'm afraid of her."
Marigold was not afraid of her. The only one who could hurt her was someone she cared about.
"Are you sure you're okay?’ Jenny was still a little worried.
Marigold nodded. "Yes." Then, she fixed her makeup and returned to the restaurant with Jenny.
The waiter had already served the food. Gilbert was currently giving Lottie some of his own food to eat. At a distance, they looked perfect for each other
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1394-Marigold was miserable throughout dinner, but she persevered till the end without being too dramatic.
After dinner, they walked to the entrance of the shopping mall.
Gilbert went to get the car. Lottie stood with Jenny and Marigold. Watching Gilbert leave, she turned toward Marigold. "I heard that you used to like Gilbert very much.*
'It's all in the past. It's not worth mentioning." Marigold didn't want to talk about it.
She was afraid that Lottie would see that she still liked Gilbert. Most importantly, she was afraid that Gilbert's plan would be ruined.
Lottie smiled. "That's true. The past is the past. You're such a nice person. You'll definitely be able to find someone better suited for you in the future."
Marigold pursed her lips.
Gilbert soon brought the car over. Lottie was about to get into the car, but before she did, she suddenly turned to Marigold and said, "Gilbert and my engagement party will be in a few days' time. If you have the time, you're more than welcome to come and witness our love for each other."
After that, she sat in the passenger seat, not even bothering to look at Marigold's face.
The car started and drove away, disappearing from Marigold's sight. She looked as if she had been struck by lightning as she stared after the car.
Jenny wanted to curse her out. Lottie had done it on purpose!
"Marigold…" she said, gnashing her teeth. She was worried about Marigold.
Marigold snapped out of her trance and looked at Jenny. "Is that true?"
Engagement party?
Gilbert had told her that he would never marry Lottie. But now…
Maybe in Gilbert's eyes, it was only an engagement. It didn't mean they were going to marry.
But to Marigold, an engagement meant that they would marry in the future.
"Gilbert has no choice. Esther refuses to let him be in power and insists that he be engaged to Lottie before giving him the position," Jenny said, trying her hardest to explain Gilbert's actions.
But now, Marigold had completely lost faith in Gilbert. ’No other choice? Oh yes, he has it very hard indeed." She smiled bitterly and walked away.
Jenny was worried for her safety but didn't want to bother her. Hence, she tagged behind Marigold quietly.
Before Gilbert had started the car, he'd heard what Lottie said to Marigold.
But he had no choice but to keep it together and drive away. Once he dropped Lottie off at her house, he drove back to Marigold. Jenny had given him their location, so he found her very quickly.
Marigold was on the streets. She didn't know where to go. Then, a car honked behind her. She looked over and saw Gilbert's face. Anger surged in her chest at once. She quickened her footsteps, not wanting to see him.
Gilbert had no choice but to stop the car and run after her. "Marigold!" he said, pulling her back.
"Let go!" She tried to get away from him to no avail.
Gilbert knew she was miserable, so he hurriedly explained, "It's just an engagement. Once I get engaged, I'll be in the position to subdue the Bradshaws."
"Oh, really? What if I don't believe you?" Gilbert kept saying that, but Marigold had already lost all her trust in him.
Gilbert was panicking, especially when he saw how she was being. "Get into my car. I'll send you home."
"No!"
"Caleb is waiting for you at home," Gilbert said.
At once, Marigold's head cleared. That was true. She had a child to take care of.
How could she give up hope over a man? Even without Gilbert, she had to live on with her child
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1395-Gilbert drove to Jenny's villa, but he was in no rush to get down. He didn't unlock the doors, either. He obviously wanted to talk to Marigold.
But Marigold evidently didn't want to. "I want to take my child and leave." She was afraid. What if Gilbert and Lottie married and took her child away? She no longer believed in love. The only thing she believed in was her child. Gilbert tightened his grip when he heard that. ’Marigold, the engagement is only for Esther to see. I have no feelings for Lottie."
'Who knows? People change. You said you didn't have feelings for me, too. ’ Marigold found this all very amusing. Perhaps this was fate.
Gilbert wanted to keep explaining, but Marigold did not give him the chance to.
"Just let me and Caleb leave. If what you say is true, you can come to find us once everything is over."
And if Gilbert didn't come looking for her, the truth would unfold itself, and she would give up all hope.
Gilbert understood that Marigold had already made up her mind, and he was powerless to change it. "Fine. But I must arrange for someone to be by your side."
Marigold frowned. She was obviously unwilling.
' Even if you don't care about your safety, you need to think about Caleb. Esther is definitely going to keep tabs on you. She will not let this go if she has the chance." Gilbert was afraid that once the Bradshaws came crumbling down, Esther would become desperate.
At his words, Marigold finally did not refuse. "Fine."
Afterward, Marigold got down the car and packed all her things from Jenny's villa. Then, she took Caleb and left, heading back to the house she used to live in.
But she couldn't stay there for long. She had to move to another city.
Jenny was dazed watching her leave. She went to Gilbert and asked, " Gilbert, didn't you explain it to her?"
'I did, but she still doesn't want to believe me." Gilbert sighed.
Alec was next to them. He was not surprised to hear that at all. He'd told Gilbert to be upfront, but he hadn't listened. This was what he was getting.
"Well, you'll have to subdue the Bradshaws quickly." Jenny could understand Marigold’s disbelief. If it were her, she would do the same.
Gilbert nodded. "I will. But I'll have to ask you to take care of her for now."
Although he would arrange for a bodyguard, the Bradshaws' schemes ran deep.
He was still worried that Marigold and his child would run into trouble.
' Alright. Don't worry. With me around, no one will dare to hurt a hair on their heads." Jenny was confident about it.
Gilbert believed in her, so he wasn't too worried. What he had to do now was to destroy the Bradshaws as soon as possible. Otherwise, nothing he said would make Marigold believe him.
The news of Marigold moving out from Jenny's villa spread quickly. Esther and Lottie both received the news. Although Gilbert had never expressed his feelings for Marigold, they were still hung up on her. They wanted to finish her off.
However, they had their differences.
Lottie's plan was to get rid of both Marigold and that child who never should have been born. Esther's plan was to only get rid of Marigold. She wanted to take Caleb to her own home and raise him. Maybe she would reap the rewards in the future.
Hence, they both sent out their people to deal with the matter, but their plans did not work.
They could not get rid of the men Jenny had sent over, much less Gilbert's bodyguard.
Although they were both angry, they had no choice. They could not dare to offend Jenny. After all, it wasn't just the Walters standing in solidarity behind Jenny
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1396-Gilbert and Lottie’s engagement party was held at Bardoff Grand Hotel on Saturday.
A ton of people showed up to their engagement party.
After all, the Bradshaws and the Silveras were pretty big names in Bardoff City, and plenty of the other families knew of their true wealth.
They all came to attend the party.
Jenny and Alec had both received invites.
Jenny was Gilbert’s sister, and on top of that, they represented the Walters and the Fausts. It was to be expected.
At first, Jenny didn’t want to go.The party held no meaning to it.It was just a show put on for Esther. It would be a complete waste of her time.
However, she was talked into it by Alec.It would be weird if she didn’t go.
Zack brought Janet to the party. He found Jenny and was in a daze.
“Wasn’t Gilbert courting Marigold? Why is he engaged to Lottie?” Jenny rolled her eyes.
“What have you been doing, Zack? You’re really bad at keeping up.” Gilbert had been courting Lottie for a while now.If Zack paid attention to even a little bit of what his brother was up to, he wouldn’t be asking this right now.
Zack looked embarrassed and rubbed his nose awkwardly.
“I just went on a vacation with Janet, and we received the invite when we got back.I’m stunned, to be honest.” “Well, you can keep on being stunned. It’s best that you don’t know.” If Zack had been involved, Gilbert’s plan might have been ruined.Zack was unhappy.
“You’re not even treating me like a human anymore, Jenny.” “That’s enough, Zack.Just don’t worry over nothing.” Jenny brushed it off.
“I’m serious.Even if you find anything out, do not get yourself involved.Everything is going according to Gilbert’s plan, got it?” She was really afraid of Zack affecting Gilbert’s plans.Zack didn’t want to press on anymore when he saw how serious she was.
“Alright, alright, I’ve got it.You and Gilbert are always like this, keeping things to yourself and never telling me anything.”Jenny was speechless. Were they really keeping things to themselves? It was because they didn’t think Zack was dependable.Telling him would only be bad news.On top of that, they knew that Zack was naive.Oftentimes, they just didn’t want him to plunge into danger with them.As they spoke, the party had already begun.Gilbert and Lottie stood together. They actually looked rea ly good together. However, Jenny could tell that Gilbert was not interested in Lottie.Although he looked at Lottie, his gaze was mostly cold.
“Thank you, ladies and gentlemen, for attending my son, Gilbert Hawthorne’s engagement party.Besides the engagement, I have something else to announce.Something big. From today onwards, my son will be the vice president of Bradshaw Operations. Please be goad to him in the future.” Afterward, applause erupted.
They were all singing praises.
With their praises, Esther looked at Gilbert in satisfaction.
This was the son she always wanted. He was brilliant, capable, and had won the people’s hearts.
As for Eli, he was nothing in her eyes. She would just treat him like a house sitter. She had already decided Eli’s fate. But as of now, Eli was looking at Gilbert with intense venom and hatred in his eyes.
What right did Gilbert have? Eli had worked in Bradshaw Operations for so long, but he was still just a manager.
No one in the company looked up to him.
But what about Gilbert? He had become the vice president immediately upon his arrival, and everyone was rooting for him.
Eli hated it.He was not going to let it go so easily!
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1397-After the engagement party, Gilbert officially had a stronghold in Bradshaw operations. Because he was already very capable, he had a lot of supporters.
No one challenged him in the company. Most of them sucked up to him because they knew that if things went well, he would be the heir of the company.
Gilbert didn’t really care about that. He didn’t even want to be there for long.
He knocked on Esther’s door and walked into her office.
“Come, sit.” Esther was all smiles when she saw him. It was more sincere than before.
She used to doubt him a lot, but now, although she still had her reservations, she mostly believed in him. In her eyes, no one would reject the chance to inherit Bradshaw Operations. This was basically manna from Heaven. Gilbert just didn’t know it back then, and now he did.
Gilbert sat down in front of Esther and began reporting the information he had gathered, as well as his thoughts on Bradshaw Operations and his plans for the future.
When he presented the information to her, she knew she had found the right person. From all angles, Gilbert was the best candidate for the company’s successor.
She looked at the plans and the information he had compiled and nodded in satisfaction. “Very good. I know of your abilities. There is no rush. When Bradshaw Operations is in your hands, there will be even more chances to develop.” Gilbert nodded. “Yes.” After a moment’s silence, Gilbert handed her a proposal. “This is a project that the Fausts will be working on. If we can become shareholders, we can build rapport with the Fausts. It’ll also benefit our developments.” Esther looked through the proposal placidly. Gilbert had created the proposal very well, and when she saw the contents, she had the urge to nod.
However, she did not.
“I know of this project. It earns a lot. In this case, they have no reason to release the shares,” she said.
Gilbert didn’t take it seriously and said lightly, “He married my sister. Some things have to be done, even if he likes it or not.” “Oh? Are you so sure that Jenny will take your side? I hear that you two have argued.” Esther looked at him with a smile in her eyes. No one knew what she was thinking.
Gilbert looked at her, not intending to dodge the topic. “So many years of companionship cannot be broken because of one fight. If she was willing to come to my engagement party yesterday, it means she is no longer angry.” “Are you really sure that you can convince Alec Faust?” Esther grew serious. If their deal with the Fausts could succeed, the money would only be a plus. The most important thing would be having a strong ally on their side. The Bradshaws would benefit a lot from it.
Gilbert was silent for a moment. “Maybe not completely, but enough. As long as Jenny is willing to take my side, there will be no issues.” Esther thought so, too. Alec was known for doting on his wife. As long as Jenny said the word, he would agree to it.
Esther suddenly thought even more of Gilbert. He knew how to let go of things.
Although he had fought with Jenny, he knew what to do with profit came into play.
“Very well. You may proceed. This will be considered the first project that you do with the Bradshaws. Make it pretty. Don’t give anyone a chance to criticize it.” She truly wanted Gilbert to achieve positive results. This project with the Fausts was important
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1398-was there to talk business with Alec. But in reality, it was a different scenario altogether.
Vincent brought Gilbert a cup of coffee in Alec's office. Because of all the times he'd been there, Vincent knew what he wanted without having to ask. Alec had a cup of coffee placed before him, too.
Everyone thought that Gilbert was trying to convince Alec to give him one of the shares, which was why he always came there, but that was not the case.
The collaboration was a set-up. As long as the Bradshaws signed the deal on the project, they would not escape unscathed.
Gilbert had planned this for a long time just to trick the Bradshaws into accepting the project.
However, the scheme had to be executed perfectly.
Since Gilbert buttered up the project in front of the Bradshaws, Alec had to feign disinterest in his collaboration, otherwise, it would seem suspicious if Alec, a smart man, were to freely hand out his money-making shares to just anyone.
"This is enough, isn't it?" Alec said. It wasn't the first or the second day that Gilbert was there. After such a long time, Alec had no more excuses to reject him as his brother-in-law.
Gilbert finished his coffee and nodded. "Yes. It's almost time." "Have you really considered it? If you don't attack the Bradshaws, they can be a great help to you." Alec smiled at Gilbert. If it were him, he wouldn't have done what Gilbert was doing.
The Bradshaws had so much power. It would be a pity if they were demolished.
If it were Alec in his shoes, he would have chosen to use it for himself, as he had done with the Fausts. He did not choose to destroy them but ultimately drove Zeke to have no other choice but to hand it over to him. He was living a good life now. In the company, no one dared to oppose him.
Gilbert obviously knew what Alec was implying. However, he hated the Bradshaws and was repulsed by the thought of inheriting the company. "I can still build an empire of my own without them."
Gilbert's company was not doing badly. In a couple more years, he might even be able to compare to Alec.
"Alright. Then we shall proceed according to the plan. But you must be ready.
Esther is no fool. Once the project fails, you will be her first suspect. You'll be in danger if she grows desperate." Alec was not one to care about someone else's safety. However, Gilbert was Jenny's brother. He had to remind him of the risks.
"I know." Gilbert would not have come up with this plan if he were afraid of danger.
Alec said nothing else. He never liked nagging. "Alright. You can break the news to the Bradshaws and get Esther to sign the contract." "Alright. Many thanks." If it weren't for Alec's help in designing the trap, Gilbert would have had trouble executing it alone.
Alec waved it off. "You're Jenny's brother, so you're my brother, too."
Gilbert was not a sentimental person. He left with no questions asked.
That day, most of the people in Bradshaw operations knew of Gilbert successfully bagging the deal with Faust Group and inviting a new big project to the company. If it succeeded, everyone in Bradshaw Operations would receive a large year-end bonus.
To the employees, they didn't care who inherited Bradshaw Operations.
They only cared about how much of the profits they'd be able to take.
Evidently, if Gilbert did become the successor, he seemed to be a pretty good choice based on what was happening now.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1399-That very afternoon, Esther and Gilbert rushed to Faust Group to sign the deal.
Gilbert said he was worried that Alec would change his mind, so he urged Esther to sign it. Only through a written contract would they be able to relax.
Esther thought it made sense and agreed to rush to Faust Group with Gilbert.
In the meeting room, Alec looked at the two people before him, expressionless.
"You have a good son, Mrs. Bradshaw."
"I’m flattered. My son had Bradshaw Operations' interests at heart. He'll inevitably be a little insensitive. Please don't hold that against him, Mr.
Faust." Esther smiled. She didn't mind Alec's sarcasm because it didn't matter.
As long as Bradshaw Operations could truly benefit from this, she didn't care how much Alec mocked her.
Alec smiled coldly and slid the contract over to her. "You may flip through it."
Esther took it and read through it seriously.
If this project succeeded, they would reap massive rewards. However, it required a massive upfront investment. It would drain nearly all of Bradshaw Operation's assets. They would have to put their other projects on hold to make this succeed. Hence, she had to be serious.
The contract seemed harmless. Faust Group was generously giving them fifty percent of the shares. It was unbelievable to Esther. "I thought that even thirty percent of the shares would be extravagant of you, Mr. Faust."
Alec scoffed. "If it weren't for Gilbert bothering my wife, I wouldn't have agreed to give you so much." Displeasure was written all over Alec's face.
Esther was a little hesitant. Bradshaw Operations could barely cover thirty percent of the shares. However, if it was fifty percent, it would be an incredible strain on them. The Bradshaws had multiple ongoing projects. Even if they paused them, it would affect them greatly if their investment did not produce immediate results.
"What are you hesitating for, Mrs. Bradshaw? You're not broke, are you?" Alec sneered and took the contract back. "If you are, you should stop dreaming about projects you can't afford to have.” He looked incredibly unwilling to collaborate with Bradshaw Operations, so he mocked them for having no money.
But Esther would never give up an opportunity like this.
"You're worrying for nothing, Mr. Faust. Our company has nothing but money."
Esther took the contract back from Alec's hands. This time, she signed it with no hesitation at all.
When he saw the contract getting signed, Gilbert smirked. He looked at Esther.
She'd better enjoy her highs while she could. They would be taken from her very quickly.
They walked out of Faust Group. Esther held the contract, feeling uneasy.
"The shares had suddenly grown to fifty percent. It's very hard for Brashaw Operations to give out that kind of money. What should we do?" Esther asked Gilbert.
Gilbert thought about it for a while and said, "We can ask for money from the bank. Once the project is over, we'll just give it back to them."
Esther shook her head in exasperation. Things were not as simple as that.
Bradshaw Operations already had a large sum of debt with the bank, and this would be yet another lump sum of money. The bank would not be willing to lend it to them.
"I could also approach Jenny and get her to lend us some money from Walter Inc," Gilbert said.
"Will she agree to that?"
"At most, we'll trade our projects with her. Once we pay her back, we'll still have our projects back. After all, those projects will be paused anyway," Gilbert said nonchalantly.
Although he’d spoken lightly, Esther thought it was a good idea
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1400-ert didn't mind. After all, if anything happened to the Bradshaws, the Silveras would not help. With those projects in hand, they would only fall further into debt.
The plan was going smoothly. Gilbert had not gone to see Marigold once. He knew that before subduing the Bradshaws, going to visit Marigold would only endanger her.
After all, Marigold was safe. Nothing had happened, and Caleb was growing up healthily.
One month later, things began to feel off in Bradshaw Operations.
After Faust Group received their money, they did not start the project. No one knew what they were doing.
Esther was feeling antsy. She prodded Gilbert to ask if there was anything wrong with it.
"Oh. I forgot to tell you that the project can't be done. The land beneath the surface is heavy metal. There is no way to build anything on it," Gilbert said indifferently.
Esther shook. She couldn't believe her ears. "What did you just say?"
"Didn't you see the news? The reporters have covered it. That land is barren, "
Gilbert said, looking like the perfect picture of innocence.
"You…" Esther was so angry that she wanted to pummel him, but Gilbert would not just let her hit him. She placed a hand on her chest and looked at him in disbelief. "Did you know about this? Did you plan this with Alec? But that can't be right. He invested money into it. If he'd done that, he'd be the one to suffer losses."
Esther couldn't figure it out, so Gilbert helped her. "The Fausts had not given out a single penny. They'd used the money that Bradshaw Operations had invested into clearing the land."
"You…Oh!" Esther was foaming at the mouth.
Gilbert and Alec had long discovered that the land was unusable. That was why they built their scheme around it and claimed that there was great potential investing in it. It was all just a ruse to make Esther cough up the money and make a huge profit later on.
But in reality, that plot of land was barren.
It took a long time for Esther to recover. With reddened eyes, she glared at Gilbert. "Why? Why are you doing this?"

If the Bradshaws hadn't suddenly attacked him, he wouldn't have come up with such a time-consuming plot to destroy them. Gilbert no longer kept up with the pretense. He said," Didn't you want to know why I'd gone missing for all these years? Why don't you investigate your son, Eli? If he hadn't made me follow him back then, I wouldn't have gotten lost."

"You'd better watch out. The Bradshaws are no longer like before." The Bradshaws were on the verge of bankruptcy. The money that they owed the Silveras was due anytime soon.
Besides selling off their properties, there was nothing else that the Bradshaws could do. Gilbert could already predict what would happen to them. In this state, they were no longer a threat to him. He could finally live the life that he wanted all along
