To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1381-The Bradshaws quickly recognized Gilbert's abilities. Esther was planning on observing him a little more, but it seemed redundant now. She got Gilbert into her office and said, "Everyone in this company has acknowledged your skills.

Hence, I shall try and let you be in charge of this project."

Gilbert was expressionless and didn’t react much. It was as if everything was within his expectations.

"However, if you want to take over the Bradshaws, your wife cannot be a nobody. She has to match your status, at least." Esther looked at him. As expected, his face turned sour at the mention of it. She wasn't surprised and went on, "You needn't answer me at once. You can think about it on your own.

But I hope that you will make the right decision."

In the end, if Gilbert didn't shake Marigold off, Esther would not entrust the Bradshaws to him. If he didn't get rid of her, that would mean he wasn't standing on the Bradshaws' side. Even if he was capable, she would not dare to trust him.

Gilbert walked out of Esther's office. He had to act fast against the Bradshaws.

He would never part with Marigold despite them having never been together.

He left the company and went back to his villa.

Once out of the car, his face turned grim. Right before he came into the villa, he saw a few unfamiliar faces. They were definitely not his neighbors. They looked shifty and suspicious. He could tell at a glance that they were plotting something.

Gilbert had been in Bradshaw Operations recently. Hence, they were not here for him. They probably came for Marigold, but she couldn't have wronged anyone recently. If that was the case, that meant that it was Gilbert who was causing her this trouble.

He called for someone to dispose of these people and to research the mastermind behind them.

It was as he expected. It was the Bradshaws.

Gilbert felt frustrated. He regretted agreeing to return to the Bradshaws. Based on the current situation, the Bradshaws would make a move if he didn't split up with Marigold. His plan to go against the Bradshaws had yet to take form, and after learning about them these few days, he knew clearly of the Bradshaws' properties.

It was indeed as Esther had said. They were comparable to the Walters. If Gilbert still went against them doggedly, he would be defeated. But if this went on, the Bradshaws would definitely send someone over to get rid of Marigold.

He could chase them off now, but what if there was a next time? Gilbert began to feel afraid.

"Back already?" Marigold came downstairs when she heard his car driving in.

"What's wrong? You look upset."

He didn't just look upset. He looked extremely troubled.

When he saw her, Gilbert softened his expression. "I'm fine." Then, he went upstairs and into his bedroom.

Marigold was confused. Fine? He obviously wasn't. In fact, it looked serious, but she couldn't be of any help.

She couldn't help feeling exasperated.

In his room, Gilbert held his phone in his hands. He'd just texted Esther, agreeing to split up with Marigold and meet up with the woman they had prepared for him. He thought that as long as he was fast enough, he might be able to team up with Alec to destroy the Bradshaws when Esther’s guard was down.

He'd only dared to agree to her request because of that thought.

To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1382-There was a knock at his door, and Gilbert quickly turned his phone off.

Marigold pushed the door open. She felt concerned for him when she saw him at his desk. "Are you still busy? Are the Bradshaws purposely giving you all this work to upset you?"

These days, Gilbert left home early and came back late. He was busier than he had been in his own company.

' No. I'm fine." Gilbert was not fine, but he couldn't tell her that. She would only worry.

Right this moment, a text arrived on his phone. He glanced at it, and anger began ripping through his chest.

It was from Esther. She said that since Gilbert had made his decision, he would have to make Marigold move out of his villa.

Gilbert was furious. He thought that Esther had no business interfering with his matters. However, he suppressed his emotions. He had to take down the Bradshaws. Otherwise, he and Marigold would not live in peace. Since he had a decision made, he had a plan. But Marigold would have to suffer for a while.

There was a moment's silence. Although Gilbert said nothing, Marigold could sense his emotional turmoil. "Did something happen?” she asked.

Gilbert looked up at her. They held their gazes just like that, and after God knew how long, he said, "It's nothing much. It's just that Jenny told me this afternoon that she wants you to take the child and accompany her for a few days. She wants to experience caring for a child for a while.’ "What? Is she preparing to have a child with Alec?” Marigold asked.

"Perhaps. Maybe she's not sure if she likes children, so she wants you to take Cal over/ Gilbert said calmly. He didn't look as if he were lying at all.

Marigold's relationship with Jenny was pretty alright. She had no reason to refuse. Thus, she agreed. "Okay." But after that, she felt upset. "Well…! would have to leave this place for now."

"It's fine. You can come back after that." Gilbert smiled, feeling an ache in his heart. If he were just stronger and had the ability to defeat the Bradshaws, he wouldn't have had to resort to this.

"That's true. It's not a long distance away, after all. You can come see us if you miss Cal." She didn't know how long Jenny would want her to stay. A few days would suffice, wouldn't it?

Gilbert was relieved to see that Marigold trusted him. But at the same time, he felt pained.

Marigold would be so sad to know that he was lying to her. But he had no other choice. If he didn't send her away, Esther wouldn't believe him, and the Bradshaws would place all their attention on Marigold. There would be no telling when they would attack her.

Gilbert truly didn't want anything to happen to her, so he had to send her to Jenny's place. It would be safer that way. He didn't feel so upset once his decision was made.

Everything was for a better future ahead.

"Are you hungry?" Gilbert asked her.

"I'm alright. Are you?" She hadn't brought him food these past two days. Gilbert hadn't let her, saying he didn't want her to be tired. Thus, the servants were the ones who brought food to him.

Normally, if he'd had dinner, he wouldn't eat anything else at home.

Gilbert stood up and patted her on the head. "I'm a little hungry. Can you eat with me?"

Marigold blushed, answering softly, "Sure.

To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1383-Marigold moved to Jenny's house the next day.

Jenny and Alec's married home was a villa that was not too big. Alec said it felt more like home, and Jenny didn't have an opinion about it. The only space they’d need was really just the bed, regardless of the size of the house.

However, because the villa was not that large, it wasn't ideal for Marigold, her child, and the nanny to live in. There was a man in the house, after all.

With no other choice, Jenny had to get Alec to sleep in another house.

Alec was grumpy about it. He only relented after Jenny promised to have a child with him once this Gilbert and Marigold ordeal was over.

That was right. After seeing Gilbert's child, Alec felt for the first time that children weren't that bad after all. In fact, they might even look really cute. Though, of course, it would have to be his and Jenny's child.

’I'm sorry for bothering you, Jenny." Marigold was embarrassed when she knew that Alec had to move out.

Jenny waved her hands quickly. "Oh, nonsense. I'm the one who's bothering you. You wouldn't have had to come if I hadn't wanted to see Cal. ’ After that, she took him from Marigold's arms.

Since Caleb couldn't yet tell people apart, he didn't make a fuss when Jenny held him. He looked even cuter that way.

She just couldn't let go of him. Marigold teased, "Why don't you and Alec have a child together since you like them so much? You've been married for a while now, and your relationship is great. You can think about it."

’I am thinking about it. But because I haven't raised a child before, I don't have the guts to do it, so I asked you to take Cal over so I could try it out,"

Jenny said.

Marigold looked at her and bit her lip, asking, "Is that really true? When Gilbert told me about it yesterday, I thought it was just an excuse."

Gilbert was the potential heir to the Bradshaw family. Truth be told, Marigold knew that she couldn't compare to him. She had to admit that she was worried.

When Gilbert said those things yesterday, her first reaction was to think that Gilbert was looking for an excuse to send her away.

"Of course. Gilbert likes Cal so much. If I hadn’t said anything, he wouldn't have let you come over." Jenny smiled. Although she managed to look happy, she felt bad inside. She knew that this lie would not last. Marigold would receive news of Gilbert quickly if he made moves.

Jenny didn't agree with Gilbert doing this. In her eyes, although the Bradshaws looked strong on the surface, the Walters and the Fausts could take them down if they joined forces. Gilbert didn't need to bow to them, and he didn’t need to marry anyone to gain Esther's trust.

Jenny knew that Gilbert wanted to repress the Bradshaws quickly so he could be with Marigold and their child in peace. But Jenny worried that Gilbert's actions would make break Marigold's heart. When that time came, he would lose her.

However, Gilbert had already made his decision. As his sister, Jenny just had to support him. The only thing she could do now was to take care of Marigold and Caleb and keep them safe.

She looked at the baby in her arms in pity. She didn’t know what would become of this. If things went according to plan, that would be fantastic. But if it didn't…

Gilbert had to step up his game. Only through his victory could he and his family live together in peace.

To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1384-For the next few days, Marigold stayed in Jenny's house. Gilbert had not come to visit once. It made her notice that something was amiss.

But every time she thought of it, Jenny would comfort her and say that she was sending Gilbert pictures of Caleb every day, which was why Gilbert didn't come to see him.

Although Marigold knew that something was up, she didn't press on. She believed that Jenny would not hurt her. If she still held a grudge about what happened the last time, she would have taken her revenge long ago. She would not have waited until now.

But Gilbert's non-appearance was still making her worried.

Her worries quickly became a reality. She soon found out on the Internet.

That day, she was going through her phone after a play session with Caleb.

Suddenly, a news article appeared on her main page.

"Bradshaw Operations Heir’s Rumored Marriage with the Silveras."

Bradshaw Operations heir?

The headline attracted her attention. If she was not mistaken, Gilbert was the one who was probably going to be the Bradshaws' successor. She wasn't sure, but her heartbeat quickened.

She comforted herself, thinking that it was just false news. But when she saw the pictures in the news article, she turned pale instantly.

Who could it be if it wasn't Gilbert?

There was a woman next to him, and they were standing close to each other.

One of the photos clearly showed Gilbert holding her close to him. Marigold bit her lip, turning as white as a sheet. It was Gilbert. She would never mistake him for anyone else.

Was he really going to marry that Silvera girl?

What about her, then? What was their romance from before? Marigold thought that they were going to be together at last. Did she read too much into things?

Once she found out the truth, Marigold understood instantly why Gilbert told her to move to Jenny's place. He was afraid that her presence in his villa would affect his marriage with the Silvera girl.

They had lied to her.

Marigold's heart turned cold.

She wanted to save the pictures and use them to question Gilbert. Even if he didn't like her, he had to make things clear to her; he owed her that much. She didn't like being kept in the dark.

But when she looked at her phone, the news article had vanished.

Was it gone?

Or was it deleted?

Marigold suddenly understood why she hadn't seen anything related to the Bradshaws lately on the news. They were all deleted, which was why she hadn't seen anything and was lied to for so long.

"Marigold, the weather is fine today. Let's take Caleb out to play." Jenny came in from outside. She'd come back early from work so that they could take the little one out to play in the good weather. She didn't know how long Gilbert was going to take. The news of the marriage was already out. It would probably take just a little while longer.

They just didn't know what it would take for Esther to believe Gilbert. She wouldn't want him to actually marry that Silvera girl, would she? If that were the case, things would become difficult.

When she snapped out of her thoughts and looked at Marigold, she realized that Marigold was even deeper in her thoughts. She didn't seem to have heard her at all.

Jenny walked over and patted her on the shoulder. "Marigold? What are you thinking about?"

Marigold snapped back to reality and looked at Jenny with a pale face, her eyescold.

Jenny's heart thumped hard. "What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"

Marigold said nothing, unable to express how she felt. She should have known that since Jenny was Gilbert's sister, she would be helping him out, so she teamed up with him to lie to her.

She was such an idiot

To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1385-igold…"

"It was Gilbert's idea, wasn't it? He wanted to marry the Silveras, so he got an excuse to send me away, didn't he?" Marigold felt as though she had seen through everything.

Jenny's face grew solemn. When news of the Bradshaws and Silvera's marriage came out, Gilbert had gotten someone to delete them immediately for fear of Marigold seeing them. They had done this for the past few days, and it was a pretty good trick. However, she still saw it.

She placed a hand on Marigold's shoulder and said, "Marigold, do you think my brother is the type to fall in love easily?"

Marigold said nothing. Her emotions were in turmoil, and she couldn't think properly.

"If he truly wanted to send you away, he wouldn't have sent you here. He would have told you to go away. Why would he go to all this trouble?" Jenny continued.

Marigold wasn't convinced. "Of course, he wants me to go, but he wants the child to stay. So this is the only option." In her eyes, Gilbert was only doing this to keep Caleb. Otherwise, he would have gotten her to leave a longtime ago.

"With Gilbert's abilities, Marigold, what would you be able to do if he forced the kid to stay?" Jenny asked.

"I'd fight him with my life!' Marigold said.

Jenny said nothing as she looked at her. They both knew very well that this didn't mean anything. If that ever happened, Marigold wouldn't even be able to see him, much less fight him.

She took a deep breath and asked, "What is all this about?"

Jenny sighed. She didn't want to lie to Marigold anymore and told her everything.

Once she learned about everything, Marigold was speechless. "So, in order to gain Esther's trust, he has to marry the Silveras?"

"Isn't it hilarious? That woman has never been a mother to him, but she wants to control him like this." Jenny thought it was hilarious. If she were in Gilbert's shoes, she would have caused chaos in the Silvera family. She wouldn't have taken the time to scheme like Gilbert.

However, she understood Gilbert's decision. His company was not considered very large, and if he were to fight against the Bradshaws, he would only lose. He wasn't wrong for choosing to gain Esther's trust.

Marigold began aching for Gilbert once Jenny explained everything. Someone as cold and arrogant as him would definitely be miserable listening to Esther's every order.

Jenny could tell that she was miserable and quickly said, "So give Gilbert some time, Marigold. Once he has settled everything with the Bradshaws, I believe he will give you and Caleb a happy ending."

"Really?" Marigold didn't know what to say. She didn't seem to have a choice.

Was she really going to part with Gilbert like this? She didn't have the courage nor the heart for it. She sighed and said, 'I want Gilbert to tell this to me personally."

’Alright," Jenny agreed. It would be best if Gilbert said this himself

To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1386-In the Bradshaws' villa, Esther looked at Gilbert with conflicting emotions. Her son was brilliant. Although she hadn't given him much authority, some board members had already suggested training him to be the successor.

She used to worry about convincing them to accept him, but she seemed to have worried for nothing.

But for whatever reason, the more brilliant he was, the less bold she was. She couldn't help feeling troubled.

"How are things between you and Lottie lately?" Esther asked.

' Pretty good/ he answered. In truth, he hated her. However, he hadn't expressed it. Lottie didn't sense it, and Esther naturally wouldn't, either.

Esther nodded in satisfaction. The Silveras were like the Bradshaws. They were considered to be of the same social standing. On top of that, Lottie seemed nice, which was why Esther had chosen her.

However, she still felt worried.

"Why is the news about you and Lottie deleted? Was that your doing?" Esther's gaze sharpened. She stared at Gilbert as if wanting to pierce through him.

Gilbert looked right back at her. Although he knew that she was suspicious of him, he did not show his fear. "It was/ "Why would you do that?" Esther was taken aback by his straightforward admission. She thought that he would deny it. If he did, she would have suspected that he had other motives. But now, he was admitting to it.

"The Bradshaws have always been on the down low. I don't think news like marriage should be leaked to the masses. I've discussed this with Lottie, and she thinks the same way." Gilbert had prepared his answer. He wasn't afraid of Esther asking him about it.

Indeed, Esther didn't think too much of it. "Very impressive of you to consider that. The Bradshaws have survived for so long because of how reserved we are."

That was why she looked down on the Ten Elites. She thought they were fools, airing out all their dirty laundry, inviting scrutiny and attention. It was not beneficial toward growth.

"If you and Lottie find each other compatible, we will confirm the wedding,"

Esther said.

Gilbert was about to say he was in no rush, but Esther then said, "The company happens to have a vice president position available for the taking. It would be good for you after your engagement."

In other words, she would only let him be the vice president if he was engaged.

He could forget about everything else if he wasn't engaged.

Gilbert definitely did not want to be engaged to Lottie. He contacted her only to get rid of Esther's suspicions about him. But things were moving too slowly. He had to get close to their core.

The engagement seemed inevitable.

No matter. It was only an engagement.

Once he was the vice president, he would have the authority to interfere with most of the operations. Once that happened, it would be the end for the Bradshaws.

Esther knew nothing of his schemes. When she saw that he still had yet to respond, her face turned sour. "You don't want to? Are you still thinking about that woman?"

"No. I just think things are moving too quickly," Gilbert said expressionlessly.

Esther looked at him in suspicion. "Really? It's still alright. Back then, your father and I married after just a few days of knowing each other. We were much faster than you are."

"Whatever you say," Gilbert said. He didn't want to raise Esther's suspicions over this.

He had to endure it.

He was very close to victory. He wouldn't want to give up now.

Esther smiled at once. "Very well. I will contact the Silveras and get the engagement confirmed."

"Alright." Gilbert nodded nonchalantly.

To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1387-At night, Gilbert drove to his villa. He got out of the car and went straight to his room. Then, he took out his phone and called Jenny.

When Jenny called him earlier, Esther was right in front of him. He did not pick up for fear of arousing her suspicions, which was why he had waited to come home before calling her back.

She picked up quickly. Gilbert learned that Marigold already knew about everything, and instantly, he felt a headache coming.

'Alright. I'm coming right now. Keep an eye on her. Don't let her leave the house." Gilbert knew that it was dangerous for Marigold to be alone right now.

Esther had not given up on targeting her. It was only because she was in Jenny's house that the woman had no chance to strike.

After the call, Gilbert went downstairs. But before he got to the door, he paused in his footsteps. If Esther was suspicious of him, she would undoubtedly have someone spying on him. If he went to Jenny's place, it would further increase her doubt.

It was no easy feat coming this far. He was about to become the vice president of Bradshaw Operations. He wasn't going to give it all up.

But he couldn't leave Marigold hanging.

He turned and went back to his room. He turned off all the lights in the villa and looked out from the balcony of the second floor.

As expected, he saw a car parked outside the villa. It hadn't left since he'd come home. He was almost certain that this was a spy that Esther had sent out to watch him.

Thankfully, the spy was only at the front door. Gilbert could leave through the back door. However, he couldn't drive. Thus, he had to get someone else to pick him up.

In the end, he called Alec. As of now, only Jenny and Alec knew of his plan. If Jenny were to keep an eye on Marigold, Alec would be the only one available to drive him.

As for Zack, Gilbert had yet to tell him about what had happened with the Bradshaws. On the one hand, he didn't want Zack to worry, and on the other hand, he didn't want Zack to be involved.

Gilbert was already waiting when Alec's car quietly drove up to the backdoor. He got in the car quickly, and they sped off.

Gilbert looked at Alec a little awkwardly. "Sorry for the trouble.” ’It's no trouble at all.' Alec didn't mind. He and Jenny were married. If Gilbert was Jenny's brother, he was his, too. On top of that, he wanted Gilbert to get together with Marigold, too. He missed Jenny.

They arrived quickly at Alec's villa. Because of Gilbert's arrival, Alec and Jenny finally had time to themselves. He took Jenny away from the villa, leaving Gilbert and Marigold alone.

Marigold sat on the sofa in the living room. She knew Gilbert had walked in, but she refused to look at him. She was obviously still angry.

Gilbert was exasperated, but he sat next to Marigold. ’So you know everything."

"Of course. How long were you planning on lying to me?" Marigold was upset when she spoke about it. She looked at Gilbert, eyes flashing with anger.

Gilbert did not mean to make any excuses for himself. "I'm sorry for lying to you."

Marigold was stunned to hear him admit it. Was that all? Wasn't he going to explain himself?

While in a daze, Gilbert continued, "I know you're really angry right now, but I don't have any other choice. If I don't destroy the Bradshaws, it won't just be me in danger. You and Caleb will be in danger, too. That's why I have to do this."

To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1388-When Marigold heard that Gilbert was not just thinking for himself but also for her and their child, for some reason, she stopped being angry. She looked at him, unable to imagine how hard it had been on him.

She sighed and said, "Even so, you should have just told me everything. Did you think I'd blame you?" She didn't like being lied to.

’I was worried that you'd overthink things,” Gilbert answered.

Marigold looked at him, her lips curling upward. "Overthink about what? Why would I do that? We don't seem to have anything going on between us. Sure, they had their romantic moments, but neither of them had really cut through the fog between them. In other words, they were nothing to each other at all. Regardless of whether Gilbert wanted to or not, Marigold had no right to demand an explanation from him.

"Just give me some more time, Marigold. Wait for me to settle the Bradshaws."

It wasn't that Gilbert didn't want to take their relationship to the next level. It was that he didn't dare to.

Every day that the Bradshaws were not pacified, the sword aimed at his neck drew closer. If anything were to happen in the event of him and Marigold getting together, no one would be able to bear the consequences.

They just had to hold on.

At least until he settled everything.

Marigold understood what he meant, but she wasn't sure of it. "Does that mean you'll confess to me after you've dealt with the Bradshaws?"

It was a little straightforward, but she no longer wanted to play charades with him. A little proactiveness would make everyone’s lives easier. At least, her life would be.

"Yes." Gilbert did not deny it. That was exactly what he was thinking.

He'd admitted to it.

Marigold didn't think that this was real.

She thought that he would simply refuse to answer the question and was fully prepared for him to just divert the topic. Never in her dreams would she think that this day would come. Her heart beat harder.

Perhaps because of her overwhelming joy, she forgot what to say.

Seeing how quiet she was, Gilbert hurriedly said, "Well, I can wait if you're not willing to."

He knew he had wronged her in the past, and she would naturally be upset with him. Now, he was willing to be the assertive one.

“I am! Oh, I am!" Marigold nodded quickly. In fact, she wanted Gilbert to confess right now. She'd waited for so long for this moment to arrive. How could she refuse?

Gilbert smiled. He didn't seem surprised by it. He knew that Marigold liked him.

Throughout all their little interactions with each other, he knew that she had never held any grudges against him, even if he were the one who didn't want the child.

Marigold was smiling from the bottom of her heart. "Why?"

"What?" Gilbert didn't get it.

"Why do you like me all of a sudden? I remember you saying that you had no feelings for me." Although Gilbert had fallen for her, and it was a joyful moment for her, she hadn't completely lost her rationality.

If one needed a reason to hate, one would need a reason to love, too.

Gilbert's feelings for her were just a little out of the blue.

He smiled. "I wouldn't know, either. Maybe it's because we've spent a long time together, and you're different from what I thought. You're a very likable person."

That was probably what people meant when they said feelings would develop overtime.

Marigold was surprised, too. When Jenny suggested living with Gilbert so that their feelings for each other could develop, Marigold didn't believe it. She thought that it would never happen with Gilbert.

But it seemed that Jenny knew Gilbert better than she did.

To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1389-When Jenny and Alec returned to the villa, Marigold and Gilbert were done talking. On top of that, they seemed cozier with each other.

Jenny knew that Gilbert had successfully convinced Marigold.

"Gilbert," she said, walking in and interrupting them.

Marigold blushed at once. Gilbert was embarrassed, too. "I'm going to have to trouble you to take care of them for a while longer."

' Don't worry, Gilbert. Nothing will happen to them as long as I'm around." No one dared to stir trouble on her turf.

So what if the Bradshaws were capable? Could they withstand the force of the Ten Elites if they joined forces?

Jenny could get quite a few of the Ten Elites to team up. The Bradshaws were no match for them.

Gilbert knew it was safest for Marigold and Caleb to be with Jenny. Hence, he didn't dawdle. "I'd better head back. Someone is spying on my villa. I'm afraid of something happening."

Although he thought it was unlikely, it was better to be on his guard.

"Alright. Get Alec to send you back," Jenny said.

Alec and Gilbert had no objections to that. They soon left the villa quickly.

Once they left, Jenny went to Marigold's side. ' Did he clear things up with you?

Are you still angry?"

"I'm definitely still mad, but I can understand him now," Marigold said with a smile.

"As long as you understand. Gilbert has no other choice. Although Alec and I can help him, you know what he's like. He doesn't want my help." Although Jenny didn't say it out loud, Gilbert knew that just with the Walters and the Fausts, they would be able to defeat the Bradshaws. However, the Walters and the Fausts would be affected.

Gilbert didn't want them to help precisely because of that.

"I know, and I'll support him. I believe he can do it," Marigold said.

It was just going to be some fake news. Maybe Gilbert would approach other women, but nothing would happen. Marigold didn't think she had to be furious.

After all, if no engagements were made, no weddings would happen.

Marigold would never dream that news of Gilbert's wedding had already spread throughout the city.

In Alec's car, they needed about twenty minutes to reach Gilbert's villa. It was rather quiet in the car. They weren't very used to it.

"How are things with Jenny?" Gilbert said. Although he didn't like Alec, he'd found nothing wrong with him after his wedding. Thus, he had to convince himself to let go of his bias.

Alec replied, "Pretty good."

"When are you planning to have children?" Gilbert asked.

Alec was not amused. "If you can't think of anything to say, you can choose to be quiet."

Gilbert was speechless. Alright. He and Alec didn't have much to talk about, anyway. They were not the talkative type.

The car drove on. Once Gilbert was quiet, Alec asked, "Esther won't trust you this easily."

"I know." Gilbert nodded. "She wants me to be engaged to Lottie. After that, she'll let me be the vice president of Bradshaw operations."

"And did you agree to that?" Alec glanced at the person in the passenger seat.

"I did."

Alec rolled his eyes, exasperation written all over his face. "And have you told Marigold?"

"No," Gilbert replied.

To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1390-Alec didn't know what else to say to Gilbert. He knew that Marigold would not be okay with it, so why didn't he just tell her everything? Was he going to keep on lying to her until she found out about things herself again?

Would she be so easily comforted the next time it happened?

’I think you should give her a heads up so she'll be more prepared." If he did, Marigold would know about Gilbert's scheme, and while she would still feel uncomfortable, she wouldn't be too angry about it.

But if he didn't and kept on lying to her, all the comforting he had done today wouldn't matter. Marigold would still feel cheated, and he would have a much harder time appeasing her.

Gilbert understood what Alec was saying. However, he'd finally convinced Marigold that he was doing all this for her and the little one. How could she accept it if he told her that he was going to get engaged to someone else?

"I haven't thought about how to break it to her." Gilbert looked tired, which was rare, in front of Alec. If he could, he wanted to ignore everything related to the Bradshaws. But he just couldn't.

Alec had no idea what to do, but he insisted on his stance. "Being honest is still the best thing to do.’ 'I'll think about it," Gilbert said.

Alec didn't say anything else after that. After all, it was none of his business. He could only offer his opinion about the matter. It was still up to Gilbert to figure out the rest. But then, it looked like he didn't want to.

He could only hope that Gilbert would have no regrets in the end.

Soon, the car arrived at the backdoor of Gilbert's villa. After getting out of the car, Gilbert thanked him and went into his house through the backdoor, disappearing from Alec's sight.

Alec didn't dawdle. He left quickly.

He did not return to Jenny's villa. Like before, he returned to his other house and called her once he got there. He told her about Gilbert's engagement, how Marigold was sure to suffer if she found out about it, and how she had to prepare herself.

Jenny was surprised, too. She thought that Esther would be placated easily.

She wasn't expecting that Gilbert would have to be engaged. Who could accept that?

Because of this, Jenny was awake the entire night. She was worried about Gilbert and Marigold's relationship.

The next day, Marigold was shocked when she saw Jenny. "What's up? Didn't you sleep?"

"No." Jenny didn't dare to look Marigold in the eye.

"What happened?" Marigold was bewildered. Logically speaking, Jenny should have slept soundly after she and Gilbert had cleared things up.

Gilbert obviously had his reasons for not telling Marigold about it. Jenny didn't want to speak on his behalf. "It's nothing. There's a patient in critical condition over at the hospital, and I was thinking about how to cure him."

"Isn't this too much for you? You have to work and keep me and Caleb company." Marigold was embarrassed. Jenny had been accompanying them ever since Marigold came to stay with her.

Jenny waved her hands. "It's fine. I just wanted to rest. I didn't have the chance to before.’ "Why don't you just go to the hospital? I'll take care of Caleb." Then, Marigold added, "I won't go outdoors. I won't run into trouble."

She knew that Jenny was staying there because she was worried about what the Bradshaws might do to her and her child
