Ch. 1351..1360
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1351-After she left, Jenny picked up the business card.
Esther Bradshaw, Vice President of Bradshaw Operations.
Bradshaw Operations?
Jenny thought this was weird. She knew of this company, n.ove.lx.o but it was not an impressive one in Bardoff City. It didn't even compare to the Wagners now. So where had that woman's confidence come from when she looked down on Marigold?
Alec walked over too. When he saw the business card, he grew somber."
novëlx.o Bradshaw Operations is not as simple as they seem."
"What does that mean?’ Jenny looked at Alec. Everyone else looked at him, too.
"Bradshaw Operations doesn't look like anything much, but the Bradshaws themselves are actually much stronger than we think. They own a lot of property privately, but it's not a part of the company. That's why it looks harmless.
However, if we count all their property, the Bradshaws won't lose to any of the Ten Elites," Alec said.
Jenny frowned. If what Alec said was true, things would prove difficult." novëlx.o How do you know this?" she asked.
"Someone from Bradshaw Operations contacted me before for a collaborative project. I found that their finances were odd and had someone investigate them," he answered. He wouldn't have known about their deceptive appearance if it weren't forthat.
Jenny nodded and looked at Gilbert, concerned. "What do you think, Gilbert?"
"What do I think? What do they have to do with me? I got to where I am today by myself." novel.xo Gilbert didn't care if he had a good family.
At these words, Jenny knew where Gilbert stood. "Alright. We support your decision."
But even though Gilbert rejected Esther, no one could guarantee that the Bradshaws would let it go easily.
’Hold up," Zack said. 'Are we going to believe her just because she said she's Gilbert's mother? We should at least do a DNA test. How else would we believe her?"
When he found his biological family, they only determined their relationship after a DNA test. novel.xo How else could they confirm it otherwise?
"It doesn't matter. I don't care, anyway." Gilbert turned and left the swimming pool. In his eyes, regardless of Esther's relationship with him, he would not leave with her, and he would not go to the Bradshaws.
Watching him leave, Marigold grew worried. "Gilbert is alright, isn't he?"
"Don't worry. Gilbert will be fine. But you might have to care for him a little more these few days." novelxo Although Gilbert said he didn't care, Jenny knew that Esther's sudden appearance would affect him somewhat. Even for her, when she knew that Graham was her father, it took her a long time to calm down.
Marigold nodded. She would have done it without Jenny's prompting." Yeah, I'll take care of him."
They dispersed. No one talked about the sudden interruption. The party was still going on. Gilbert was already back in the hall, talking with guests as if nothing had happened.
The guests began leaving after they had eaten. Although Jenny was worried, novelxo she didn't say much. Gilbert had to face this on his own. As his sister, all she could do was stay by his side and support his decisions no matter what. Besides, he had Marigold by his side, which was why Jenny wasn't that worried.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1352-Soon, the guests were all gone. Jenny and the others left, too, leaving only Gilbert and Marigold in the hotel. Even the child was taken home by the nanny.
Gilbert had a lot to drink today. Hence, novelxo after he was done sending off his guests, he leaned back in his chair and closed his eyes halfway as if he was asleep.
Marigold walked toward him, worried. "Are you…alright?’ At her voice, Gilbert opened his eyes. He wasn't surprised to see Marigold."
novel.xo I'm fine. Get the driver to start the car." He'd had so much to drink that he definitely wouldn't be able to drive home.
Marigold nodded and called up the driver, telling him to place the car at the entrance and help her get Gilbert out. She put her phone away and held Gilbert.
"The driver is coming. I'll help you up."
"I'm fine. I can walk on my own." Gilbert tried to stand up by himself.
However, he had overestimated himself. The moment he stood, he collapsed to the side. Marigold hurriedly pulled him. Unfortunately, she had no strength to do so and was pulled down with him.
"Ow!‘ Marigold exclaimed, falling on top of Gilbert. His broad chest made her dazed. novëlxo Hearing his heartbeat from between his ribs, she blushed.
"I'm sorry. I…" Gilbert apologized and tried to get up, but then he was stunned.
Marigold was looking at him, and for whatever reason, her eyes were making him feel a certain way.
As he was lost in his thoughts, Marigold kissed him.
Her emotions were in overdrive. She couldn't help herself. She didn't want to waste the opportunity God had given her. Although Jenny had warned her not to be too hasty, Marigold was in no mood to think about that.
With her soft lips pressed against his, Gilbert swallowed. For a moment, he wanted more. But the moment the thought arose, footsteps sounded at the door, and he snapped back to reality, pulling Marigold up at once. When the driver walked in, nothing seemed amiss.
"Mr. Hawthorn, Miss Wagner, the car is here,' the driver said.
Gilbert murmured a response. He looked like his usual self. Only Marigold's face was as red as a tomato.
The driver supported Gilbert while Marigold followed behind them. n.ovëlx.o She hadn't calmed down yet.
What had she done?
She'd kissed Gilbert!
Gilbert must hate her so much right now.
Oh Marigold, why was she so impatient? n.ove.lx.o She'd already promised Jenny to take things slowly. Why did she kiss him?
Her thoughts were in a frenzy. They stayed like that until the car reached the villa. The driver left, leaving Marigold alone with Gilbert once more. It was only then that she had the bravery to look at him.
Gilbert hadn't expressed anything. But when he felt her gaze, novëlx.o he looked at her.
"I'm sorry. I…" She had no idea how to explain herself and didn't know if her apology would even mean anything. She had to admit that she was afraid now.
She was afraid that Gilbert would chase her out.
However, Gilbert wasn't mad at all. He merely looked at her, saying, novëlx.o "You were so brave before. Why are you so cowardly now?” She'd already kissed him. Why was she apologizing now?
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1353-Marigold was perplexed. What did Gilbert mean by that? Did that mean he wasn't going to blame her?
She was utterly bewildered. He felt even more unreadable to her now.
"Why did you kiss me?" Gilbert looked at her as if wanting to see right through her.
Marigold came back to her senses and felt his gaze. "Because I liked you.
There's not much reason behind it."
She didn't deny her crush on him. Denial meant nothing right now. Gilbert was no fool. There was no way that he wouldn't know about her feelings for him.
"I thought that you would change after what happened before.’ Gilbert smiled lightly. After what happened, they had not contacted each other for a few days.
He thought that Marigold would give up. He didn't expect that she would still like him.
She bit her lip and said, "I'm sorry. I was impulsive. I didn't control myself."
After what happened, she told herself not to do anything like that again. But just a few days later…
Even Marigold didn't feel too great about herself, much less Gilbert.
"Impulsive? So you're saying that your feelings for me are just impulsive?" For whatever reason, Gilbert was upset.
"I said the kiss was impulsive. Not my feelings." Marigold paused. She looked at Gilbert, whose gaze was shifting weirdly. "Are you not mad?"
"Why would I be? I wasn't taken advantage of," he said.
Marigold couldn't believe that this was what Gilbert had said. If this was about being taken advantage of, Gilbert wouldn't have rejected her before. She was confused. Then, an unbelievable thought came to her mind. "Have you…fallen for me?"
The moment she said those words, the air grew tense. Only their breaths could be heard.
Fallen for her?
Gilbert didn't know what that felt like. He only knew that he didn't hate Marigold's kiss. But did that mean he had feelings for her? It probably didn't.
He shook his head. "How could I like you? Have you forgotten that I have no interest in you?"
"But you…"
"Like I said, I wasn't the one taken advantage of." Then, Gilbert went upstairs into his room. He didn't care what Marigold thought.
Gilbert's words made her disappointed. Was he not angry simply because he wasn't the one at a disadvantage? It sounded logical, but Marigold thought that something was amiss. Gilbert wasn't like that.
In the end, Marigold reached her conclusion. She took her phone out excitedly and called Jenny. She told her everything and then asked, "What do you think this means, Jenny?"
"What do you think? He has probably fallen for you," Jenny replied. She was happy with this outcome.
"Really?" Marigold couldn't quite believe it. Had she obtained what she wanted so badly this easily?
Yes, it was easy.
Although she had already been staying here at Gilbert's for some time, Marigold didn't think she had done much, which was why she thought it was easy.
"But don't celebrate just yet. I know him. Even if he does like you, he won't be able to tell just yet. He won't be able to reciprocate your feelings. You need to keep it up." Jenny was afraid that Marigold would give up. She was only preparing her.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1354-w.
After the phone call with Jenny, Marigold felt much better. She went upstairs, showered, then slept soundly in her bed. She was not in a hurry. Since there was progress, she felt much calmer.
She slept very well that night, but Gilbert hadn't.
Because of Marigold's kiss, he had a dream once more. It wasn't as outlandish as before, but this time, he dreamt that he and Marigold were having their wedding.
This was madness.
A wedding!
Was he really going to marry her?
Meanwhile, Esther returned to the Bradshaws. novëlx.o When Octavius Crawley saw her, he hurriedly asked, "How was it? Did he agree to come back?"
Octavius' voice was subdued. He was respectful towards Esther. Although they were husband and wife, their interactions seemed more akin to a superior and an employee.
It couldn't be helped. This was how it was destined to be ever since the day he married her.
“Come back? He told me to fuck off!" novëlx.o Esther was still furious when she thought of Gilbert's attitude toward her. She had gone to see him with utmost sincerity. Gilbert should not have refused her. It wasn't her fault that Gilbert had gone lost, and she had been looking everywhere for him. Why was he so resistant toward her?
She felt upset when she thought of this. "Get someone to investigate the Wilkins. I want to see how they raise children!"
The Wilkins were Jenny's grandfather's family in Orchid Village.
Esther felt that Horace Wilkins had not brought them up properly, which was why he would reject his own parents.
“Don't be too anxious. He didn't have his parents around for so long. He must be angry at us. He wouldn't be able to understand or accept it so quickly." novëlx.o Octavius thought it was a pity, but he wasn't angry.
Esther glanced at him, upset. "Of course you're not upset. The Bradshaws' inheritance has nothing to do with you, but what about me? Look at Eli! Do you think he can inherit the Bradshaws? I'm anxious to get Gilbert because I want him to take over the Bradshaws."
Eli was her second child. After Gilbert went missing, Esther placed all of her efforts on him. However, she was not reaping any rewards for all her hard work.
Eli only knew how to enjoy the pleasures of life. He wasn't at all like a suitable heir. It was why she was so anxious.
Hence, she increased her efforts in looking for Gilbert, and she finally found him.
However, she did not expect him to refuse her in such a crass way. novëlx.o There was no room for negotiations at all. She was upset, but there didn't seem to be another choice.
Octavius' eyes dimmed, saying nothing. He had no right to speak in this house.
Both of them had not noticed a movement on the second floor. Eli, who was prepared to go downstairs, had frozen in place. His face was terrifyingly dark.
Let Gilbert take over the Bradshaws?
Was he going to inherit the Bradshaws even after so many years of absence?
What was the point of Eli's actions back then if that happened? At this thought, his eyes flashed dangerously.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1355-After the party, Gilbert and Marigold's relationship evolved to an awkward phase. They were no longer as cold as before, yet they were not close, either. It was an uncomfortable feeling.
They both knew what the problem was. However, neither seemed to want to solve it.
It was Marigold's first time in Hawthorn Inc. "Hello. I'm here to see Mr.
Hawthorn," Marigold said softly at the front desk. There was a warm lunchbox in her hands. She'd come here to bring dinner to Gilbert.
The employee didn't recognize Marigold, but she thought she looked familiar.
However, she didn't intend to let her in. "Do you have an appointment?"
"An appointment? I don't." She shook her head. She didn't know that she needed an appointment to see Gilbert.
When the employee heard that she didn't have an appointment, she thought of her as yet another one of Gilbert's fans. "I'm sorry. I can't let you in without an appointment."
Although Hawthorn Inc was still not at the level of the Ten Elites, it was advancing well in Bardoff City. Gilbert was considered a new tycoon, and the women who came after him were aplenty. Hence, Gilbert had issued an order forbidding them from going up to see him. The employee at the front desk had to be alert.
Marigold did not make things difficult for the employee. She took out her phone and chose to call Gilbert. She was anxious because she didn't know if he would pickup.
Thankfully, he picked up after a few rings.
"Is there something you need?" Gilbert was still indifferent, as usual.
Marigold didn't think there was much of a problem. She was used to it anyway.
She looked at the employee's curious gaze and said, "I'm downstairs at your company. Can you let me up?"
"You're here?" Gilbert thought it was weird. Marigold had never come to his company before.
"Yes. I have something for you." Marigold blushed in embarrassment.
Naturally, Gilbert couldn't see her blush over the phone. When he heard that, he said, "Alright, I'll get someone to fetch you."
The call ended.
The employee looked perplexed. ’What is your relationship with our president?"
She was worried that she had offended something she shouldn't have. How could she know that Marigold would be connected to Gilbert? She felt like a victim. She could only hope that Marigold wouldn't hold a grudge. If she merely whispered in Gilbert's ear, she would be fired.
"Nothing much. You don't have to worry." The employee had done nothing wrong. Furthermore, Marigold was not the type to tell tales.
The employee heaved a sigh of relief. Marigold didn't look like the type to tell tales.
Soon, Greg, his assistant, came downstairs. He recognized Marigold and went straight to her. "Follow me, Miss Wagner."
"Alright. Thank you," Marigold said in embarrassment.
"It's not a problem.’ Greg hoped that Gilbert would have a woman by his side.
That way, he wouldn't need to worry so much.
They walked into the elevator. It was then that Greg noticed the lunchbox in Marigold's hands. He was stunned. "Are you…bringing him dinner?"
"Yeah. I noticed he frequently doesn't eat dinner." Marigold nodded, then asked, ' Are things busy at the company? Why doesn't he eat?"
"He's used to it. I always remind him to, but he never listens to me." Greg was exasperated. He thought it was unsustainable for Gilbert to keep on like this, but he had no choice. He wasn't expecting Marigold to come by with food.
She'd never done it before. And now she was suddenly making him dinner. Did this mean that they were moving forward with their relationship?
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1356-Marigold didn't know what the assistant was thinking. If she did, she might have blushed again. Her relationship with Gilbert wasn't exactly evolving.
After their kiss, things grew a little warmer between them. Although no one had pointed it out yet, Marigold felt that Gilbert might have some feelings for her. At least, things were different from before. However, she was too afraid to confront him about it.
She could wait it out. As Jenny said, Marigold would be nice to him and let him get used to having her around. She cheered herself on inwardly. Then, when the elevator sounded, she grew anxious again.
As long as she was in front of Gilbert, she would grow nervous.
"Miss Wagner, Mr. Hawthorn is in the office. You can open the door and go in."
Greg brought her to the door, not intending to go in. He didn't want to get in their way.
Marigold nodded and smiled at him. "Alright. Thank you."
Greg was dazed by her smile. He hadn't recovered even after Marigold had gone in.
How could his president not fall for such a beautiful woman?
Greg was deep in thought. He obviously couldn't understand it.
Marigold pushed the door open and saw the busy man behind the desk.
Gilbert didn't raise his head. When the door opened, he thought it was Greg.
''Get me the financial reports from March."
After giving out his order, he busied himself again.
There were sounds of someone sifting through the desk. Unfortunately, Marigold didn't know where the March report was. Hence, the sound of her shuffling was disruptive.
Gilbert raised his head, about to chide his assistant. He saw that it was Marigold who was shuffling through the documents. "It's you."
"I'm sorry. I just wanted to help." What a pity it was that she just didn't know where the report was.
Gilbert wasn't mad, either. He shut the documents in his hands and asked," It's fine. What are you here for?"
"I…" Marigold was nervous being looked at by him. "Have you eaten?"
Gilbert frowned. He wasn't expecting this from her. "No," he answered.
For some reason, Marigold smiled. "I brought you dinner. Have some before you work again."
Then, she took out the lunchbox she had brought. The food was exquisite, and they were all Gilbert's favorites. It was obvious she had put a lot of thought into it. Seeing her take the food out, Gilbert felt satisfied for some reason.
"Eat." Marigold handed him a fork and stood next to him.
They held their gazes for a moment before Gilbert said, "Did you come here just to bring me dinner?"
"Yes. It's not good for you to skip dinner every day." It was terrible, in fact.
Gilbert didn’t think much of it. When he got busy, he would not feel hungry. And when he got home, it was already late at night. He would sleep after washing up, and once he slept, he wouldn't feel hungry either.
However, he was moved when he saw the food before him.
"Thank you," he said after a moment.
No matter what, he was happy.
When Marigold heard him thank her, she was stunned and pleased. She was worried that Gilbert would refuse her kindness. Now it seemed that things weren't as bad as she thought
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1357-Gilbert began eating. Although he wasn't hungry, he felt incredibly satisfied.
As he ate, Marigold accompanied him by his side. Even though she was doing nothing, watching him was enjoyable enough. This was the man she liked. He was handsome even while eating.
If only they could be together.
She couldn't help feeling hopeful as she thought of that. Judging by how things were going, it wasn't impossible.
Halfway through the meal, someone knocked on the door. Greg walked in." Mr.
Hawthorn, someone named Octavius Crawley is looking for you.” Octavius Crawley? Marigold didn't know this person. However, Gilbert's expression shifted. He probably knew who that was.
' Bring him to the meeting room," Gilbert said, continuing with his meal.
The assistant murmured in response and left the office.
Marigold could feel that Gilbert's emotions were shifting. Before, she could feel that he was in a pretty good mood. Now, he was in a terrible mood.
"Who is Octavius Crawley?" she couldn't help asking. She was worried for Gilbert.
Gilbert didn't think there was any point in keeping the truth from her. "My biological father."
To him, he was just a biological father.
Biological father? Marigold was stunned. Then, she understood what Gilbert meant. Octavius was Esther Bradshaw's husband.
Was he here because Esther hadn't been able to convince Gilbert? Why did they think that a different person would change Gilbert's mind?
Gilbert didn't know what she was thinking and was in no mood to guess.
Because of Octavius' appearance, he no longer had the mood to eat. He finished the food and packed the lunchbox, saying, "I'll get the driver to bring you home."
"Alright." Marigold wanted to follow him, but she knew Gilbert was not on good terms with the Bradshaws. She would only be affecting him if she went. Hence, she stayed silent. She took the lunchbox from Gilbert's hands and asked in trepidation, "Should L.bring you dinner tomorrow?"
She wasn't sure if Gilbert would let her in tomorrow.
"Would you stop coming if I told you to?" Gilbert smirked. Why didn't he think that Marigold was this interesting before?
She was stunned for a moment. Then, she shook her head. "I'd still come even if you don't let me. The most you can do is deny my entry. If that happens, I'll put your food at the front desk, and you'll have to get someone to bring it to you."
She was about to leave, but then Gilbert pulled at her wrist. "Just come if you want to. As long as you don't think it's a bother."
‘It's not." She was very willing to do so.
He sent her to the elevator. Once she disappeared out of sight, Gilbert's smile vanished. He changed instantly. He turned and walked toward the meeting room.
Octavius was feeling conflicted in the meeting room. It was his own decision to come to see Gilbert. Although he had no right of say in the Bradshaw family, he still loved his son. He was the one who cared for him the most when Gilbert was young.
He just didn't expect his son to go missing so suddenly and for him to completely change when they finally found him.
He was extremely nervous. Would Gilbert still remember him after so many years? Gilbert was already six or seven when he went missing. He still had to have a few memories. For whatever reason, he had not gone to find them, and he was now hostile toward them.
Octavius felt that something was wrong, but he couldn't be certain.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1358-As he was deep in thought, the door to the meeting room opened. He looked over instinctively.
Gilbert, who was in a navy suit, walked into the meeting room. His gaze was calm, and he looked at Octavius emotionlessly. He sat on the couch, then finally glared at him. "What are you here for?" he said in an unpleasant tone. That was to be expected. He didn't feel very warmly toward the Bradshaws.
Octavius snapped back to reality. He looked at the total stranger of a son before him, novelxo suddenly at a loss for words. He no longer saw that child on Gilbert's face. He was a stranger, an intimidating one at that.
He took a deep breath and said, "I…You know that I am your father, don't you?"
If he could investigate Gilbert, Gilbert could investigate him, too.
Gilbert didn't answer. He asked, "I don't care who you are. Why are you here?"
Octavius paled, not expecting Gilbert to be this rude. "Son, you truly wandered off and got lost back then. Your mother and I have tried to find you all these years. You can't blame us for that!"
Gilbert sneered, saying nothing.
"On top of that, you were already six or seven years old when you got lost.novelxo You should have remembered us. Why didn’t you try to find us?"
According to Octavius' logic, even if Gilbert was kidnapped and had no way of escape, he should have had the power to find them when he grew older. But he didn't. If Esther hadn't found him, they might never have known that their son was in Bardoff City and had grown to be so brilliant.
Gilbert was nonchalant at first. But when he heard Octavius' words, he grew bewildered. "You're saying I was six or seven when I got lost?"
"That's right. I even got you to memorize our phone numbers. Logically speaking, you would have contacted us the moment you could." Octavius just couldn't understand why Gilbert had never reached out to them all these years.
Gilbert frowned. He sensed that something was amiss.
He had no memories before the age of seven. His memories only began with Jenny's grandfather picking him up.
He desperately searched for his memories, novelxo but he remembered nothing at all. In fact, a sting of pain shot through his brain, and he paled instantly.
Octavius held him up quickly. He was worried. "Are you trying to remember? It's okay if you don't. As long as you know that both your parents love you very much, and we were very upset when we lost you. We're very happy to have found you and want you to come home to us. That's your real home!"
Gilbert felt disgusted by Octavius' touch. He pushed him away.novelxo "I will not go back with you."
"Son…"
"I am not your son," Gilbert interrupted. He was extremely cold. "No matter whose fault it was, I've already been away from the Bradshaws for so long.
I don't need parents anymore."
So what if Octavius was telling the truth? Gilbert didn't care.
"Gilbert, the Bradshaws are stronger than you think.novelxo Even if you don't want to claim us, are you really going to let go of all that property?" Octavius had surveyed Gilbert before, and he knew that he was strong. It wasn't easy developing his company to this extent alone.
But even then, Hawthorn Inc could not compare to Bradshaw Operations.
He felt that as long as Gilbert was smart, he would not forfeit the chance to inherit Bradshaw Operations.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1359-Bradshaw Operations?
Gilbert seemed to be considering Octavius' words.n.ovëlx.o Octavius' eyes lit up, feeling that he had piqued Gilbert's interest.
"Besides the property that everyone thinks we have, we have a lot of property hidden under the radar. If we were to compare, the Bradshaws would not be worse off than the Fausts," Octavius said.
Gilbert smiled lightly. He looked at Octavius in amusement. "You seem very interested in Bradshaw's property."
Octavius went quiet. Frankly speaking, why would he willingly marry into that family if it weren't for their property? Despite his courteousness to Esther all these years, he was still not respected in the Bradshaw family. Their inheritance had nothing to do with him.
Outsiders thought he was living the good life, novelxo but Octavius knew he was no more than a rug to the Bradshaws.
He knew he had no hope, but he didn't want to give up. He would be happy to see Bradshaw Operations falling into Gilbert's hands in the end. No matter what, Gilbert was his son. Biologically speaking, that meant that he was part of Octavius, too.
As for Eli, even if Gilbert weren't found, it would be difficult for Eli to inherit Bradshaw Operations with his bastardly character. There were no fools in the Bradshaw family.
Gilbert's smile held a note of intrigue. "Since you want the Bradshaws' property so much, why don't I lend you a helping hand?"
"What do you mean?" Octavius frowned, feeling unhappy. novelxo Even after saying so much, Gilbert didn't seem very interested in the Bradshaws' property.
Gilbert leaned against the sofa and looked at Octavius in contempt. ‘You can help me spy on the inner workings of Bradshaw Operations, and I'll devour them whole. When that time comes, I'll cut you a percentage of the shares. You will not worry for the rest of your life, and you'll have tons of cash in your hands."
Octavius couldn't believe that these words were coming from Gilbert's lips. He widened his eyes, stunned. "Why would you do that?"
As long as Gilbert so much as nodded, he would be able to inherit the Bradshaws. Wouldn't it belong to him either way? Why did he have to make things so difficult? novelxo On top of that, did he even have the power to devour the Bradshaws?
"I don't like being called a Bradshaw. I like being a Hawthorn." He wanted to change the Bradshaws' name to that of his.
Octavius was in a daze.
"You can consider it slowly. There's no rush. I have plenty of time." Devouring the Bradshaws was easier said than done. Gilbert had to put a lot of time and effort into preparing for it.
Octavius looked at the person before him. He could see that Gilbert was not joking. He truly wanted to devour the Bradshaws.
Octavius retracted his gaze. He looked solemn and a little angry. novelxo "What makes you think that I'll help you? I'm living quite well already in the Bradshaw family."
"Really? Do you honestly think relying on your wife for everything is great?"
Gilbert could read him like a book. Octavius' eyes had lit up when he spoke of the property. Gilbert was sure that Octavius had been after the properties when he married into the family but was not expecting Esther to be so capable. She hadn't given him the slightest chance to infiltrate the inner workings of Bradshaw Operations.
And after so many years, novelxo Octavius was stuck where he was. He was getting a little panicky.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1360-Octavius said nothing. He knew Gilbert thoroughly researched his standing in the Bradshaw family. He didn't have to worry about anything in that family, but he had not married into their family to simply not be worried.
' Are you sure that you can take control of the Bradshaws?" Octavius was moved, but he doubted Gilbert's abilities.
Gilbert smiled. Things seemed to be going smoother than he expected. He hadn't expected Octavius to go against the Bradshaws so easily. He thought he would have to work to convince him.
The corners of his lips curled upward. "I can't do it alone, but I have the Walters and the Fausts backing me up. With their combined forces, don't you think I'd be able to do it?"
“If you count them in, you'd be able to. But are you sure they wouldn't plunder the Bradshaws for themselves once everything is settled?" Octavius had heard that Gilbert was close with Jenny, but no one could be trusted in the face of profit.
Gilbert sneered, not taking him to heart. "This is my business. You don't have to think about it. You only need to be sure you obtain a large amount of money."
Octavius was stunned. That made sense.
' Alright. I'll work with you." After so many years of being a househusband, he had enough. Once he had the money, he wanted to live a luxurious life.
These years, Esther guarded him like a hawk, but she had a few lovers outside the household. Octavius had been unable to bear it for a long time now.
"That's it, then. You may go home now. I will have someone contact you to let you know what I need from the Bradshaws." Gilbert stood up, feeling that he had nothing more to say.
Seeing that he was about to leave, Octavius quickly said, "Do you…hate me? ■ Gilbert paused in his footsteps. However, he didn't look back. "Hate you? Is there anything worth hating about you?"
To him, Octavius was merely a stranger.
However, they were conspirators now. They weren't exactly strangers.
Octavius turned pale. Perhaps he never in a million years would have thought that his missing son would turn out this way. He had imagined his son crying as he ran into his arms, but that never happened.
Perhaps they just weren't destined to be together. Why else would he go missing back then?
At that thought, Octavius left Gilbert's company. He had to go back to gather intel on the Bradshaws. Since he decided to work with Gilbert, he was going back to ruin them.
He wasn't going to ruin them just because he'd had enough of being a househusband. It was also because he hated them.
All these years, no one in the family took him seriously. He wanted to see their faces after they collapsed and were transformed from haughty aristocrats to penniless commoners. It was going to be a delight to behold.
At the thought of that, his footsteps quickened. He began to look forward to it.
Gilbert didn't care what Octavius had in mind. After talking with him, he returned to his office and continued with his work. Perhaps because he had his dinner, he seemed energetic while working through the night.
He smiled in exasperation. He used to skip meals to work, but now it seemed that he preferred actually having something to eat. He couldn't help thinking of Marigold's face. He hadn't noticed before, but now that he thought of it, Marigold was actually very pretty. Her face was soft and alluring.
Gilbert remembered their kiss from that day. He unconsciously licked his lips, even yearning for it again.
