Ch. 1341..1350
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1341-While she was lost in her own thoughts, Gilbert walked into the restaurant and headed straight toward the three of them.
"Gilbert's here,” Jenny spoke up. Marigold instantly snapped out of her daze and looked at the object of her affection, who had just arrived.
'Jenny," Gilbert greeted Jenny with a nod and looked at Marigold. "How did the health check go?"
'Everything is fine,' Marigold answered with a smile. She still felt a bit nervous in front of him. Gilbert didn’t pay much attention to that. He took a seat next to her naturally.
Soon, the waiter brought the dishes, and the four of them ate and chatted.
When the topic shifted to the upcoming naming ceremony for Caleb, there was no shortage of conversation among them, even Gilbert surprisingly had a lot to say. Although he didn't say it explicitly, Jenny could tell that he genuinely adored his child.
After dinner, the four of them parted ways. "We'll head back now."
'Okay, drive safe," Gilbert reminded, watching Jenny and Alec get into the car and drive away. Once their car was some distance away, he said to Marigold, "Get in the car."
'Okay." Marigold walked toward the passenger seat, opened the door, and got in.
Inside the car, they fell into an awkward silence.
'Sorry for interrupting your work." After a while, Marigold finally plucked up enough courage to speak up.
Gilbert furrowed his brow, seemingly not understanding why she was apologizing. "Why would you say that?"
'It's because of me that Jenny called you. If it weren't for me-"
"It has nothing to do with you, and besides, having a meal doesn't disrupt my work that much." Although he was indeed busy when Jenny called him, it didn't mean he would blame Marigold for it. He wasn't an unreasonable tyrant who blamed everything on others.
Seeing that he didn't seem to blame her, Marigold breathed a sigh of relief. ’Are you going back to work?"
It was only 8 pm. Judging from his usual working hours, he might still have pending work waiting for him at his company.
'That won't be necessary.' 'Oh, it's good that you get to rest earlier."
"I guess so."
The atmosphere fell into silence once again. Marigold desperately wanted to say something but didn't know what to say.
Soon, the car arrived at the villa, and the two of them got out and walked inside.
As they came back early that day, Caleb was still awake. The nanny was playing with him in the living room. Upon seeing his parents, Caleb seemed to sense who they were and started giggling in delight.
Gilbert was captivated and couldn't help but walk over to look at the little one in the nanny's arms. A smile took over his lips. "You look happy, little guy."
’He must be happy because his parents are here," the nanny replied.
Gilbert reached out and took the child from the nanny's arms. "Hey, little one. Do you recognize me?"
Caleb's giggles became peals of laughter.
‘It seems like he really likes you, Mr. Hawthorn," the nanny added.
Right then, Marigold approached her child and said, "Cal, I'm your mommy."
Both of them played with their child in the living room. It was a scene of a picture-perfect family. Upon seeing such a scene, one would gasp in disbelief if they were told this seemingly perfect couple wasn't bound in marriage.
They continued to play with Caleb in the living room for quite a while until it was time for him to sleep. With that, they handed him over to the nanny.
"You had a long day at work. Go take a shower and rest up," Marigold said to Gilbert as she watched the child being carried back to his room.
Gilbert snapped out of his giddy trance, but the smile on his face didn't fade away. "Okay, you should rest early too."
’I will." Marigold nodded with a blush on her face. Even though she'd promised Jenny to take the initiative, she couldn't help but feel shy whenever Gilbert looked at her.
Marigold stood in the living room and watched as Gilbert went upstairs to his room. She took a deep breath and silently made a vow to herself after a while.
For the sake of her child, she had to do her best.
As for whether it was for the child or for herself, perhaps only Marigold knew the answer.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1342-Knock, knock.
Gilbert had just finished showering and came out of the bathroom when he heard someone knock on his door. He opened the door and saw Marigold standing there. She had changed into a light pink nightgown. With her fair long legs exposed, beauty seemed to radiate from within her.
Gilbert hurriedly averted his gaze and met her eyes. "What is it?"
'I…I need your help.' Marigold was very nervous. "The light in my room isn't working properly. Can you help me take a look?"
'Sure.' Gilbert didn't refuse. In the next second, he got up and followed Marigold to her room.
'I don't know why, but the light started flickering all of a sudden. It's kind of scary." Marigold stood beside Gilbert. Looking at the light above, she bit her lip and moved closer to him.
Gilbert glanced at it a few times. ‘It's probably an issue with the circuit. I'll have someone come and take a look tomorrow.’ ’Okay." Marigold nodded.
’If you're scared, you can switch to another room." The villa had many empty rooms, so Marigold had plenty of other options to choose from.
Marigold shook her head. "There's no need. I'm going to sleep. I'll just turn it off then."
Hearing her voice that seemed to be very close to his ear, Gilbert suddenly realized that Marigold had come very close to him without him noticing. He could smell the faint fragrance coming from her body; it was a little intoxicating.
But Gilbert was no ordinary person; he remained composed and collected.
Under the flickering light, he could clearly see the emotion that Marigold kept hidden behind her eyes.
’Gilbert…I…" At that moment, Marigold was a nervous wreck. When she was supposed to take things further to the next level, she started to stutter.
Seemingly figuring out what she wanted to say, Gilbert beat her to it. ’Rest early.’ ’Gilbert…"
Without giving her a chance to continue, he left the room, disappearing from her sight before she could react and reach out to hold him.
Marigold's eyes instantly dimmed.
Did he dislike her that much? Why did he leave so quickly?
She forced a bitter smile, recalling what Jenny had mentioned about him not hating her as much as before. It seemed that even she had been mistaken.
According to how he reacted, Marigold could only conclude that he still disliked her very much.
Gilbert had no idea what Marigold was thinking. In fact, he wouldn't have guessed that she was thinking about all that. He left that room as quickly as he could because he realized his body was starting to respond involuntarily and out of control.
’Damn it! There's no way I like her, so why is my body reacting to her like this?’ Gilbert cursed inwardly.
In the bathroom, as the cold water poured down from above, the restless heat he felt in his heart dissipated to some extent.
He wasn’t a fool. Marigold was blatantly trying to seduce him, and he could see it from a mile away. Yet, he still chose to reject her. Though he didn't loathe her as much as before, it didn't mean he would start liking her. At most, he found her presence more tolerable now. Their current relationship solely revolved around having a child together and nothing else.
After Gilbert figured out the dynamics of his relationship with Marigold, he came out of the bathroom, pushing the unexpected bodily reaction earlier out of his mind.
That night, Marigold didn't sleep well. She had a nightmare in which Gilbert hated her just like before. Then, he kicked her out of the villa and refused to let her see or come into contact with their child.
That nightmarish scene made her wake with a start.
Gilbert also had a dream.
But his dream wasn't a nightmare. In contrast, it could even be considered a sweet dream. When he woke up in the morning, his first expression was one of immense disbelief.
’How could I have such a dream?" he groaned frustratedly.
And what made it worse was the object of his dream was Marigold! He found it hard to accept and felt somewhat embarrassed.
After another round of splashing cold water on himself to cool down, he came out of his room. When he went downstairs, he saw Marigold sitting in the living room. The images from his dream involuntarily appeared in his mind, making it difficult for him to face her
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1343-Marigold felt mortified too, but on top of that, there was also a tinge of sadness.
After all, no matter how she looked at it, Gilbert had rejected her last night. Even though neither of them brought up last night's events, she felt they both understood what had happened without needing to spell it out.
Gilbert walked into the living room while Marigold was having breakfast. Seeing him, she mustered up the courage to say, "Have breakfast before going to work."
'No thanks. I'll eat at the office." Gilbert declined and left the villa.
Marigold was taken aback at his curt reply, sadness welling up in her eyes. She knew her actions last night were somewhat abrupt, but it shouldn't be so bad that Gilbert was avoiding her like the plague now. The way he reacted made it seem as if she were some ferocious beast or monster.
In reality, Marigold had been overthinking everything. Gilbert wasn't avoiding her; it was because of his embarrassment from the dream last night that he felt too ashamed to face her. However, Marigold, being unaware of this, naturally thought Gilbert was avoiding her intentionally.
Perhaps because of her illness, Marigold's way of thinking also became somewhat odd. She wanted to be with Gilbert but also cared deeply about upholding her remaining dignity. Now that Gilbert was intentionally avoiding her, she acted stubbornly and returned the favor by not paying attention to him.
The two of them remained at an impasse until Saturday. The next day would be their baby's naming ceremony, and Gilbert had made arrangements for the celebration to be held at a hotel. He wanted to discuss the flow of events tomorrow with Marigold.
Hence, he returned earlier that day. novelxo Right then, Marigold happened to be having dinner. She was somewhat surprised to see him back so early but didn't initiate a conversation.
Gilbert walked over and sat across from her while asking a maid to bring him a set of cutlery.
'Tomorrow is Caleb's naming ceremony, and I've pretty much arranged everything. Take a look and see if there's anything else we need to prepare. ‘ Gilbert handed a tablet to Marigold. It contained information about the decorations at the hotel and the event flow chart.
Marigold glanced at it casually. novel.xo Although she was upset with him, she couldn't deny that his plans were devised meticulously and were basically flawless. She couldn't find any fault with his arrangements.
'Everything looks fine. I don't think there's anything you haven't prepared,"
Marigold replied while munching her food absentmindedly; her mind was clearly drifting somewhere else.
Gilbert took back the tablet, grunted in acknowledgment, and focused on his meal. The two of them remained silent, neither of them speaking up.
After a while, Gilbert finally sensed that something was off. novëlxo "You seem to be in a bad mood. What's wrong?" he asked.
’Am I? You’re overthinking it," Marigold replied while eating, feeling uneasy inside.
She didn’t know whether to feel happy or sad at that moment. It was quite rare for Gilbert to notice that she was upset. But even if he noticed, did it make a difference? At the end of the day, he didn't have any kind of special feelings toward her.
As she thought about it, the hopefulness and excitement that had driven her to pursue her love extinguished, leaving her gloomy and dismal.
Gilbert wasn't one to make things difficult for himself. novëlx.o He could tell that Marigold didn't want to talk to him much, so he didn't say anything further.
And so, the two of them silently finished their dinner without further interaction.
After dinner, the nanny brought Caleb downstairs, and Gilbert spent some time playing with his child before returning to his room. As for Marigold, she'd already gone back to her room after finishing her meal and didn't play with their child as she usually did.
Gilbert could tell that something wasn't right with her, n.ovëlx.o but he had no intention of meddling. Although they had a child and were living together now, they weren't really in a relationship, so he had no right to interfere in her affairs.
It was perhaps a good thing that Marigold didn't know what went on in his mind.
n.ove.lx.o If she knew, it would probably put her in a gloomy mood for quite some time.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1344-The next day, they held the naming ceremony as scheduled.
Many people attended this joyous occasion at Bardoff International Hotel. In addition to his friends and family, novelxo Gilbert also invited all the clients who had business dealings with his company.
However, the above categories of people weren't the only ones there that day.
Gilbert was Jenny's older adoptive brother, and everyone in Bardoff City knew that. Now that Jenny had married Alec, it wasn't an exaggeration to say that Jenny and Alec were the ones calling the shots in Bardoff City. After their two families joined hands due to their marriage, there was a huge shuffling of families that were considered the Ten Elites. The Walters and the Fausts were undoubtedly at the top of the pyramid now.
Therefore, even though some people had no personal relationship with Gilbert novelxo and even looked down on his small company, out of respect for Jenny and Alec, nearly half of the affluent and influential families in Bardoff City attended the event. Those who couldn't attend still sent gifts as a sign of goodwill and respect.
Jenny arrived early. Although she was married, Gilbert was still a treasured family member to her, so she came as early as she could to see if there was anything she could help with.
Marigold and Gilbert were already standing at the entrance welcoming the guests when she arrived. However, they didn't stand together but on opposite sides, giving the impression that they were unrelated.
When she saw this, Jenny felt something was amiss, so she walked over to them and greeted them, "Hi, Gilbert. Hello, Marigold."
"Jenny, you're here. Come on in and have a seat," novel.xo Marigold greeted Jenny with a smile. By now, she regarded Jenny as her own family and was genuinely delighted to see her there.
"There's no hurry. I'll take a look at the baby first," Jenny said as she walked toward the side where the stroller was. The child was sleeping soundly inside.
Almost irresistibly, Jenny reached out and gently touched the child's cute little face. She felt an amazing sense of wonder. She couldn't help but gush, "He's so adorable! He looks just like Gilbert."
"I know, right? I think so, too," Gilbert said, novëlxo coming over to her side and looking at the baby in the stroller with a proud smile on his face.
"Congratulations, Gilbert. You have such a lovely child," Jenny said.
Gilbert didn't deny it. The arrival of this child had completely transformed his life.
"You and Alec should start considering it too," Gilbert said when Jenny least expected it. She was completely caught off guard.
Jenny glanced at Alec, who was right beside her. Before she could say anything, he spoke up first, "I'm fine with anything. I'll follow Jenny's lead."
In response, Jenny glared at him. Seeing such a cute bundle of joy, Alec had indeed started giving having children a thought recently. Although children were adorable, Jenny still wanted to wait for another two years.
’Gilbert, Marigold, you should stand together to welcome the guests," novëlx.o Jenny suggested, pulling Marigold over to stand beside him.
Marigold felt awkward and explained, "It's not his fault. I chose to stand over there myself." She didn't want to stand next to Gilbert in case people misunderstood their relationship.
Jenny was puzzled. Didn't she convince Marigold just a couple of days ago to actively pursue her happiness? What was going on now?
Marigold pursed her lips and said softly, ‘Although we have a child, n.ovëlx.o we don't really have any significant relationship, so it's better to keep some distance to avoid misunderstandings."
Jenny didn't know what had happened between them, n.ove.lx.o but from Marigold's words, she could tell she was clearly unhappy. In fact, she was probably aggrieved. Instantly, Jenny deduced that Gilbert had done something to upset her.
She looked at Gilbert quizzically, who was equally confused. He shrugged helplessly and didn't say anything.
"Whatever, I don't really care," he thought.
' Marigold, no matter what happened between you guys, it's better for you to stand together on this kind of occasion," Jenny whispered in her ear." You don't wish for others to have even more things to talk bad about you behind your back, right?
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1345-Even if they weren't married, as long as they stood together, no one would dare to speculate and gossip about the nature of their relationship. By doing so, naturally, no one would make fun of Marigold's awkward status.
At the moment, anyone could see that they were clearly not fond of each other, and people would inevitably gossip about their weird relationship behind their backs. Those gossips would then extend to their child.
With Jenny’s reminder, Marigold suddenly realized she'd been careless and didn't think things through. "I didn't consider the matter carefully enough."
Immediately, she stood beside Gilbert with a smile on her face. No matter how distant they were at home, when they were in public, they had to pretend that their relationship was amicable. It was just that they didn't get married.
Seeing her come to this realization, Jenny felt relieved.
Jenny wanted to ask Gilbert what he thought of Marigold presently, but given the special circumstances that day and the sheer number of people present, she thought it was not the right time for her to approach him about this. She would find another time to talk to him about it.
After Jenny and Alec entered the hall and found their seats, they discovered that Zack and Janet had already arrived ahead of them.
"Jenny, you're late," Zack said.
Jenny glanced at him and teased, "Hey, Zack. Ever since you got married, I rarely see you around. Have you abandoned me, your sister, because you have a wife now?"
Janet's cheeks turned red, and she glared at Zack in annoyance.
She had no idea Zack was purposely keeping to themselves. She'd previously mentioned inviting Jenny and the others over for a meal, but Zack said it was troublesome, and their relationship was good enough that they didn't need to keep in touch so frequently unless something big came up.
Janet didn't understand these things, nor did she believe there was any relationship in this world that didn't require any form of upkeeping and maintenance. So now, when she heard Jenny's words, she was unable to register the fact that Jenny was just joking and took it literally.
'I'm sorry, Jenny. It's all my fault-"
"Why are you apologizing, silly?" Zack interrupted her. "She was joking."
'I was joking, Janet," Jenny confirmed.
Zack comforted Janet before looking at Jenny and saying, "Don't deliberately tease her. She doesn’t handle teasing well."
Perhaps it was due to Janet's upbringing and the environment she grew up in, but she would get hung up on every word and reaction from others. She was afraid of offending people and worried about how others might perceive her. In general, she was very sensitive.
'Got it, Zack. I didn't expect you to be so doting toward your wife," Jenny remarked. Before he met Janet, she had never imagined him to be this kind of person.
"It's what I should do, isn't it?" he asked rhetorically, proudly pulling Janet into his embrace.
Janet lowered her head and felt too embarrassed to face anyone.
Jenny chuckled lightly. "Yes, of course."
’Oh, stop being jealous. Don't I dote on you excessively too?" Alec also pulled her into his embrace jokingly. He wouldn't let his wife lose to anyone.
Seeing him wanting her to gain the upper hand in such a trivial issue, Jenny felt kind of helpless as she replied, 'Yes, you do."
The people at the other tables nearby were speechless when they heard the two men arguing about who doted more on their wives.
What was going on? Weren't they there for a baby's naming ceremony? Why were they forced to watch such blatant and unabashed displays of public affection?
’There's something I want to tell you," Zack spoke again, putting on a serious expression.
Jenny turned to look at him as he said, "I found my biological parents."
The smile on Jenny's face vanished instantly, and she became solemn.' You found them?"
’Yeah," Zack nodded. "They're overseas. Actually, I've received information about them before, but I just wasn't really keen on finding them. But…" He glanced at the person next to him and added, "Later on, I thought that since I already knew where they were, I should at least go and see them. Otherwise, it might be a lifelong regret for me." After a slight pause, he continued with a sneer, "I didn't expect I'd really found them." He'd never expected that everything would go so smoothly.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1346-Jenny was stunned for a moment before snapping back to reality. She looked at Zack with conflicted emotion. 'Are you planning to live with them?"
Now it was Zack's turn to be stunned. novelxo "Why would I live with them? I don't even know them."
He had not had a lonely childhood. Besides, Gilbert and Jenny were here, and he was married with a wife. He couldn't leave anyway.
‘I thought you'd be eager to stay with them after so many years of not seeing them." Jenny smiled bitterly. On second thought, she could understand his reasoning.
They were both the same. Although they didn't have their parents since they were young, their emotional needs were met. Hence, they didn’t hunt for their biological parents. Even in Jenny's case, Graham was the one who found her.
Otherwise, she would not have gone to find him.
Zack was like her. His decision to see his parents was probably because their news couldn't be ignored. But for now, he would probably only be paying them a short visit. He would not have other intentions.
'If I hadn't married yet, I might have given it a second thought. novëlx.o But now I've married and have my own family. I have no need to chummy up with someone else's family." Zack was satisfied with where he was in life, and he didn't want anything to change.
Jenny nodded and looked at him. "I'll support your decision, Zack.’ She would support him whether he went back or not. She would stand behind him and shield him.
Zack smiled and patted her on the shoulder. 'That's my sister."
With merry talk and laughter, the gathering ended quickly. novëlxo Gilbert and Marigold stood on the stage with their child in their hands. It was a heartwarming sight.
"If only they were a real family," Jenny exclaimed.
Zack nodded. "Yeah. We're both married now. Only Gilbert isn't. What a worrying thought."
Who would have thought that Gilbert, novel.xo the oldest amongst them, would be the last to marry?
’Although he's the only one who hasn't married yet, he's the one who had a child first. If you think about it this way, he's still ahead of us," Zack said.
That seemed to be true. Jenny smiled.
Onstage, after Gilbert and Marigold thanked the guests for coming, novel.xo they went back to Jenny's table.
Paul was sitting there too. It was all family at the table.
"I can understand if you don't want to stay with the Wagners. But you can't keep staying at his place," Paul said the moment Marigold sat down.
Marigold felt embarrassed. He shouldn't be talking about this now. "Let's eat.
We'll talk after the meal," she said, attempting to ease the situation.
Paul wanted to say more, but Jenny nudged Alec. novelxo He instantly understood and looked at Paul. "Let's drink."
Paul's words were lodged in his throat. He looked at Alec and finally shut up.
novelxo He would only talk after the party.
"Look at what this is!' Jenny took out a gift box and slid it toward Caleb.' novelxo This is a gift from your aunt." "I have a gift prepared too!' Zack quickly took his gift box out and slid it toward the baby.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1347-g, so his mother had to take it for him.
Marigold didn't know if she should take it. She looked at Gilbert for help.
’Just take it. It's expected of them." They were Caleb's aunt and uncle.
They wouldn't escape formalities like this.
Marigold no longer refused since Gilbert put it that way. She reached out for the gifts. "I'll take care of them for him and give it to him when he's older."
After the presents, everyone continued eating.
The party was not over after everyone was done eating. Gilbert had other activities planned. He'd booked the entire restaurant, and all his guests could stay for as long as they wanted.
After the meal, Jenny stayed by Marigold's side. She loved Caleb a lot. He was soft and chubby, and Jenny wanted to squeeze him.
After Gilbert was done tending to the guests, he sat at the poolside alone, staring off into the distance.
’What are you thinking about, Gilbert?" Zack appeared out of nowhere and sat in a lounge chair nearby.
Gilbert looked at him. "Aren't you going to keep Janet company?"
After Zack's wedding, he and Janet went everywhere together. They had not separated from each other at all. Every time Gilbert called him, Zack was with Janet.
’Of course, I need to accompany my wife. But I can’t ignore my brother." Zack rubbed his nose, knowing that Gilbert was just teasing him.
’Why do I need your attention?" Gilbert straightened. He thought he was alright today, and he was in a good mood, too.
Zack looked at him, finally deciding to tell the truth. "Jenny and I are both married. It's only you left. Of course, we're worried."
'Oh, so you're just here to rush me into marriage?" Gilbert was amused. Married people were a different breed, after all. Zack used to scoff at marriage whenever it was brought up in the past, but now, he was rushing Gilbert into one.
Zack looked embarrassed, but he went on. "Maybe. Jenny and I are worried to see you still single."
’Do I need your worry?" Gilbert didn't think there was anything about him worth worrying about.
But Zack didn't think so. "If you don't marry, who knows if you'll suddenly want to move out of the country to be a priest? I don't want to see you actually doing that."
Gilbert was speechless. "Don't you worry about me. I'll marry when fate determines it." He didn't say he was completely resistant to marriage, only that fate hadn't allowed him to yet.
‘What do you mean, fate? Aren't you and Marigold fated to be together?" Zack thought that it was enough for them.
Although that night they spent together was nothing glorious, having a child and then living together was fate in itself, wasn’t it?
At the mention of Marigold, Gilbert's expression turned sour. "Did she tell you to come here?"
’She'd never told me to say this. I wanted to tell you myself. When you and Marigold were up on that stage, you looked like a family. I think it wouldn't be a bad thing for you to get together," Zack explained.
Gilbert was silent.
Zack continued, "Gilbert, just think about it. She's not having an easy time right now. She gave birth to your son, and she's physically weak. She'll fall ill any moment. Don't you feel sorry for her, just a little bit?"
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1348-’I don't care about that at all,’ Gilbert said after a moment. He knew it was hard for Marigold to give birth to Caleb and that her body had not yet recovered.
However, it did not mean that he would be with her.
Love wasn't as simple as that.
"Well, do you have anyone you like?" Zack asked.
Gilbert shook his head.
Zack slapped his thigh and said, "Since you don't have any other crushes, what's wrong with trying this one out? What if you guys are compatible with each other? This would be a win-win situation. Caleb aside, you could give Marigold a chance. Do you really want Caleb to have another parent?"
Zack felt that since Gilbert had no one else in mind, trying to make things work with Marigold wasn't such a bad idea. If he fell in love with her, that would be a good thing.
Gilbert began doubting himself once he heard Zack's reasoning. On second thought, that seemed to be the case. He couldn't help thinking about the dream he had a few days ago. He coughed dryly. "We'll talk about this at a later time.
I'm not in the mood to discuss this."
Zack's eyes lit up. He thought there was hope yet.
Meanwhile, Jenny had just heard from Marigold about what had happened before and understood why they were so upset. She looked at Marigold with conflicted emotions and said, "Although I want you to be assertive, that's not the way to do it. No one would be able to take it."
Marigold was just a little too assertive. Even if Gilbert was interested in her, her actions could scare him away.
"Well, what should I do, then?’ Marigold was miserable these few days. She felt that she was being assertive enough, yet she was not reaping any rewards.
Was she being too forthright?
"Didn't you say that Gilbert doesn't eat dinner often? Well, you could start with making him dinner," Jenny said after a moment's deliberation. Before Marigold could speak, she continued, "Gilbert takes time to warm up to someone. If you integrate yourself into his life slowly and get him used to having you around, he'll slowly come to depend on you greatly. You need to learn to care about him and not do things like how you did them last time. You won't see results like that." In fact, Gilbert might hate her once more. She wouldn't want that.
Marigold began to realize her faults. Blushing, she said in embarrassment," I didn't think that far ahead. I just wanted to be with him as soon as possible."
She thought that it would be the quickest way.
'I know you want to be with Gilbert, but there are many ways to do that. You have to at least make him like you before getting together with him. That's the best way to do it,’ Jenny said.
Marigold nodded quickly. ’That makes sense. I get it now."
’That's great.' Jenny nodded in satisfaction. She truly wanted to see them get together. That would put her at ease.
As they spoke, a fight suddenly rang out from the pool downstairs. Jenny got up and walked toward the window, looking down.
Gilbert and a middle-aged woman were arguing. Although she was a good distance away from them, she could tell that he was furious. She rarely ever saw this side of Gilbert. Her instincts told her that something was wrong.
’Let's go take a look,' Jenny said, walking down the stairs.
Marigold was worried, too, and followed Jenny towards the pool.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1349-Fuck off! You're not welcome here!"
When Jenny and Marigold rushed to the pool, they heard Gilbert roaring at the woman. They were both bewildered. They rarely saw Gilbert this angry.
Who was that woman?
Marigold walked over quickly. She was worried about Gilbert.
'What's up, Gilbert?" Jenny walked over, looking at the woman.
Gilbert was frustrated. "Nothing much. Just someone unimportant.' The woman was upset to hear Gilbert introduce her like that. "I'm your mother, Gilbert!’ At those words, Jenny and Marigold were both stunned.
Mother?
Marigold remembered that Gilbert was an orphan brought up by Jenny's grandfather. Why was there a mother here?
’I don't have a mother." Gilbert had long since given up on having a mother. He was used to it after all these years. She didn't appear when he needed her the most, and now she was running to find him now that he was all grown up and independent. She didn't even stop to see if he really needed her anymore.
The woman was upset by his words. She looked at Gilbert, willing herself to stay calm. "I've tried to look for you all these years. You were brought away by those kidnappers. Your father and I have never given up on trying to look for you. And when I heard about you, I rushed over the second I could so that I could see you as soon as possible."
She sounded sincere. It was a touching scene.
However, Jenny frowned and looked at her doubtfully. "Did you say that Gilbert was taken away by kidnappers? My grandfather found him by the road." She suspected that this woman was lying.
When the woman heard Jenny say that, she frowned. She looked at Jenny unkindly. "Are you saying that Gilbert was picked up by your grandfather?"
'Yes." Jenny nodded.
'Picked up, my ass! He was taken away!" She glared at Jenny. God knew how much she had sacrificed in her search for Gilbert.
'That's impossible!" Without thinking, Jenny denied her words. "My grandfather would never do that.’ 'Who knows if he wouldn't? What if he did? Shouldn't someone report to the police when they find a child by the road?" If Jenny's grandfather had called the police, she might have found her son earlier. She wouldn't have had to wait until this day.
The more she thought about it, the more certain she felt that Jenny's grandfather had taken Gilbert away. This would explain why he hadn't called the police.
Jenny was speechless for a moment. She was certain that her grandfather was not someone like that, but faced with this woman's interrogations, she found no words to retaliate with.
That was true. Why didn't her grandfather report it?
Zack couldn't bear listening to it anymore. Although he had found his biological mother, Jenny’s grandfather was still his grandfather.
He looked at the woman coldly and said, "I was picked up by my grandfather, too. Are you going to say that I was kidnapped as well?"
'That's not impossible…"
'What a joke!" Zack interrupted. "Didn't you take responsibility for why Gilbert got lost in the first place? Our grandfather took care of him and never mistreated him. You can tell, based on that alone, that our grandfather would never kidnap a child. You might even have abandoned him, and you're only here to claim him as your own now that he's successful."
He wasn't unfamiliar with this concept. His biological parents were like that.
They knew of his successful life and now wanted to live with him but were coldly rejected by him. In fact, he didn't even plan on contacting them again
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1350-don't need you to tell us all this. n.ovëlx.o We will investigate it ourselves." It was Jenny who spoke. She would not let anyone tarnish her grandfather's reputation. Hence, even if the woman hadn't told her to, she would have investigated it herself.
The woman didn't want to indulge them anymore. To her, these were people of no importance. She looked at Gilbert and spoke in a gentler tone. ‘Gilbert, Mommy isn't lying to you. You were kidnapped before, and I have never given up in my search for you."
’And?" Gilbert raised his eyebrows. She couldn't read him at all.
’And now that I've finally found you, I'd like you to go back with me and return to your family.' She looked at Gilbert expectantly. She was here to bring him home.
Gilbert said nothing. She continued, novëlx.o 'And your child, too. He can come back with us. I swear that you will be well protected there.’ Marigold didn't say anything. After all, this was Gilbert's private business. She had no right to say anything. However, she became agitated when she heard that the woman wanted to take her child away. "No! You can't take the child away!’ The woman glared at her, obviously not thinking much of her. The fact that she had come here meant that she had already investigated every one of them.

Gilbert tilted his head and looked at her, smiling. novel.xo "Don't worry. No one will be taking our child away."

On top of that, he said our child. Their child. It was Gilbert's words, not hers.
She couldn't help thinking about it.
However, now was not the time to be saying this. Once she was sure that no one would be taking her child away, she stayed quiet.
’Gilbert…"
’Go away. I will not go with you," Gilbert said determinedly to the woman.
novelxo There was no room for negotiation.
Her expression turned sour. "Gilbert, you might not know who your parents are yet, and you don’t know which family you belong to. If you did…"
‘I still wouldn't go with you. I have no interest in you at all," Gilbert interrupted mercilessly.
She looked extremely unpleasant. She swept her gaze over Gilbert novelxo and the people around him, saying nothing. Then, she took out a business card and gave it to Gilbert. "If you change your mind, you can give us a call."
Besides her number, her status was also written on the card. novelxo She figured that as long as Gilbert knew of her status, he might change his mind.
He accepted the card but flung it to the side without so much as a glance.
Can you go now?"
Coldly, the woman turned and left.
