Ch. 1161..1170
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1161-Inappropriate "I was wondering where they had run off to. I didn't expect that Leonard would actually confess his feelings to Steph today. What an appropriate timing he had chosen," Jenny said softly while looking at the two of them.
Alec didn't respond. At that moment, he could only feel sorry for his best friend, Paul. There was probably no chance for Paul anymore.
Seeing that he said nothing, Jenny figured out what he was thinking. "You better warn Paul not to cause trouble. If something happens to Steph or Leonard, I wont spare him."
"Don't worry. Paul is not that kind of person," Alec said. He knew Paul would certainly feel miserable when he got the news, but he probably would not go to the extent of hurting Stephanie and Leonard.
Truthfully, Alec wasn't confident about it. After all, Paul had always been obsessive. In his mind, Stephanie had always been his, and now, Stephanie was taken by somebody else. It would be strange if he could accept that.
While they were talking to each other, Stephanie and Leonard arrived in front of them. "Jenny, let me introduce you to my boyfriend, Leonard."
"Congratulations." Jenny smiled. She could tell that Stephanie was quite happy.
"I'm leaving Steph in your care, Mr. Sullivan. I wont spare you if you dare to treat her badly." As Stephanie's best friend, Jenny felt she had to warn him beforehand.
Leonard nodded and said in an extremely serious manner, "Don't worry, Miss Walter. I will be good to her."
She was his first girlfriend, but she would also be his last.
The dinner party was still going on. It was obvious that Max was very happy that day; he was having a good time with his friends as well. Jade didn't interrupt them. She just drank champagne with Jenny and others and chatted casually with them.
The dinner party ended very late at night. After everybody had left, Jade helped Max back to their bedroom.
At that moment, only the two of them were left in the huge mansion. It was so quiet that they could even hear each other breathing.
Max was a little drunk, so it took Jade a lot of effort to get him onto the bed. She truly had no energy left to help him take a shower. She was going to take his jacket off and let him sleep straight away.
However, just when her hand touched the button on Max’s jacket, Max grabbed her hand. "Jade."
She blinked. She was a little surprised to see that Max's eyes were opened.
"You're not drunk?"
"I’m drunk," Max said. Then, he pulled Jade into his arms. 'But even if I'm drunk, I still remember tonight's the night we consummate our marriage."
Jade's cheeks immediately turned red. "How inappropriate."
"Inappropriate? We're a married couple now." Max was not happy about it. He immediately rolled over and pinned Jade under him.
At that moment, they were close enough to easily feel each other's breath. For some reason, they become nervous.
They stay frozen in place for a few seconds. Jade was the one who made the first move in the end. "Why are you dawdling? Are you a man or not?"
Max could not help but laugh. He was truly pissed off by what she said." You'll know if I'm a man or not soon."
Upon saying that, he lowered his head and kissed Jade on her lips.
The driver Max had hired first dropped Alec and Jenny home before he was ready to continue and drop Leonard and Stephanie home.
"We're gonna go now," Jenny said to Stephanie, who was in the car.
Stephanie nodded and waved at them. "Bye. I'll see you again another time. h Immediately after that, the car started again and disappeared from Jenny and Alec's sight.
"Let's go. It's a little chilly outside. Don't catch a cold.’ Alec wrapped his arm around Jenny and walked toward their home. He didn't let her stay at the entrance.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1162-Like How Things Are Right Now Jenny finally had free time after Jade and Max's wedding. Thankfully, the holiday was coming to an end as well, which meant she would be returning to work at the hospital, sparing her from the boredom of staying at home.
"Dr. Walter, are you back from the holiday?" When she got back to the department office, she was greeted by many. She nodded and responded to them. She much preferred the environment in the hospital. While there was competition sometimes, most staff were focused on their patients and didn't engage in workplace drama.
On the first day of her return, she had to meet a seemingly endless number of patients. The consultations went on until 7 pm. The sudden busyness tired her out, but she felt exhilarated at the same time.
"Are you done with work?" Alec showed up at the door when she wasn't looking.
He was dressed in a grey coat and was leaning against the door frame. Looking at him from afar, he had a distant quality that would keep people away from him.
Only Jenny knew that he was cold on the outside but passionate within.
She changed out of her white doctor's robe and walked up to him. "Yeah. Let's go. I'm hungry."
"Okay. Are you tired?" he asked with concern when they left the hospital.
She shook her head-the day's work wasn't too tiring for her. "I like how things are right now."
Soon, they left the hospital. McKenna and Derrick showed up from a corner, and she remarked, "Didn't I say that Jenny Walter would choose a man who's a match for her socially? Look, I was right."
"Yes, yes, babe, you were right." Derrick had no idea why she had to bring up the topic.
"So, have you totally given up on her?" she pressed on.
Looking dumbfounded, he surrendered and said, "Oh god, I did not have any feelings for her anymore. Why wouldn't you believe in me?" McKenna had harped on the question multiple times, and he assured her as many times, but she didn't seem convinced.
She pouted and looked in the direction where Jenny and Alec had left. "It's not that I didn't trust you. I think it's normal to fall for her because she's such a stellar woman." She would have fallen for Jenny if she were a man.
"Does that mean you'd fall for Alec Faust since he's an outstanding man?"
Derrick countered with a little annoyance.
"What nonsense! I didn't even know him," she refuted. Although Alec was a capable and good-looking man, she didn't feel anything for him.
Derrick held her hand and said, "See? You won't fall for someone easily just because of their credentials. Don't fret over this again, alright?"
He had nothing but regrets for his previous interest in Jenny. He had merely wanted to leech off her because of her social standing, but his plan backfired.
As for McKenna, he admitted that he first cozied up to her because she was the daughter of a hospital department director, but now…
He stared at the woman in his arms as his gaze softened. He had no idea who was the predator or the prey in this game of love between them anymore.
Once Alec brought Jenny back home, he immediately started prepping dinner in the kitchen. She followed suit and offered to help, adding, "You don't have to go through this fuss. We can dine out or get a private chef to help."
"No, it's no trouble at all. I like cooking dinner for you," he replied while washing the greens.
She was taken aback for a while before she chuckled, thinking, "This man is in flirting mode at any time."
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1163-Once Loved You While Jenny and Alec were flirting with each other, Stephanie ran into someone she wished she wouldn't meet. She had just got off work when she noticed a man standing in the elevator lobby of her apartment. She immediately halted in her tracks as she stared at him in astonishment and nervousness.
She did not know why he came to meet her this late in the day. Perhaps, she was a little traumatized and scared of him due to the unsavory incidents that she went through in the past.
Still, she gritted her teeth and went up to him with much courage. She kept a few steps in the distance between them, which was just perfect for a conversation or an immediate escape.
"What are you doing here?" she asked.
Paul threw away the cigarette butt between his fingers and glanced at her." Why are you standing so far away from me?"
She ignored him and reiterated, "Why are you here?"
"Nothing. I just wanted to ask if you're with Leonard Sullivan now.’ Alec had broken the news to him with the intention of making him give up on Stephanie.
Unfortunately, Alec underestimated Paul's obsession with the woman. How could Paul give her up so easily? Once he got the news, he immediately showed up at the entrance to her apartment to ask her about it.
Feeling jittery, she tried hard to mask her anxiety. 'Yes. Leonard is my boyfriend now."
Paul's expression crumbled. The veins on his forehead bulged in anger, and he appeared to be ready to give her a beating at any second. She was afraid of him and took a few steps backward. ’Paul Wagner, do not try anything funny! I told you long ago that I was not into you anymore."
"Steph, how could you say you are not into me anymore? I don't believe you. "
Paul was living in his fantasy and refused to believe she was in love with another man.
She was troubled and at a loss for how to handle him. "Paul, let's look to the future. We deserve to live our lives."
"No! I can't live without you,’ Paul exclaimed.
She rolled her eyes at him, feeling speechless. "Paul, you should stop trying to flatter me. You know better than anyone how you treated me in the past. That's no love-it's purely a need to control." He wouldn't have hurt her in that way if he truly loved her.
"Steph, I know I was wrong and am willing to change. I just need you to give me a second chance," he pleaded, his eyes moist with tears, looking pitiful.
Too bad she had no lingering feelings for him anymore, and his pitiful demeanor did not win her sympathy. She stared at him and announced coldly, "I'm sorry, but I have a boyfriend now. I love him a lot and do not plan to date anyone else now." In other words, she refused to give Paul a chance.
Hearing that, he went up and grabbed her wrist. "Why? You loved me so much.
How could you suddenly claim that you're not in love with me? Have you never loved me from the start?"
She felt pain in her wrist and frowned. ‘ Paul, don't you think the question is rather unimportant now?"
"It's not!" he yelled. Of course, it was important! He wanted to know if she had ever loved him.
She sighed and looked at him with pity. "I once loved you.’ But she wasn't in love with him anymore.
He stared at her with teary eyes and refused to let go. "I don't believe you! How could you not love me anymore? You must be lying. You're still angry at me, aren't you?"
"Paul! Let me go!" Worried that he might spiral and go out of control, she wanted to leave.
However, he clutched on tighter. "No, I wont! I will never let you go!"
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1164-Who Do You Think You Are?
Stephanie's greatest fear had come true. She was most fearful when Paul lost control. She knew he’d do anything in that situation, even imprisoning her in his villa. She refused to go through that harrowing experience again.
When she was trapped and troubled, a figure appeared from behind her and punched Paul to the ground.
"Leonard? Why are you here?" She was surprised to see him because he should be working his shift at the police station.
He shielded her and stared at Paul in a hostile manner. "You didn't reply to my texts, so I was worried and had to visit you."
He started worrying when she didn't reply to his texts in time. Moreover, he knew Paul's wretched character and needed to check on Stephanie in person.
Thankfully, he had arrived on time to protect her.
"I'm sorry that I worry you." She looked a little embarrassed. When she first agreed to date Leonard, she decided to leave the past behind and tied all the loose ends with Paul. To her dismay, he still came to her apartment.
Leonard took her hand and said unhappily, "Why are you saying sorry? It's not your fault. I should have walked you home from work.’ "Wow, I'm invisible to you, huh?" Paul wiped away the blood from his lips and smirked. How dare they display their affection before him, thinking he was easily bullied?
Leonard gave him an icy glare. "Steph is my girlfriend now. Mr. Wagner, please know your boundaries."
"What if I refuse?" Paul asked with a terrifying smile.
Leonard walked up to him, staring him in the eyes. 'Paul Wagner, you’d be damn wrong to think you have hidden your crimes well. This is a warning-l will not go easy on you if you pester Steph.’ Although he did not have concrete evidence at the moment, he'd definitely send Paul to jail if he uncovered something damning.
"Is that so? Try me. Let's see who's the last man standing.* Paul had no regard for a mere deputy commissioner. He was no stranger to killing and didn't mind dirtying his hands by taking one more life.
The two men were head-to-head, and tensions were high, threatening to explode at any moment. Feeling worried, Stephanie pulled at Leonard." Let's ignore him. Send me home."
"Sure." Leonard did not want to waste time with Paul. There was no point throwing empty threats at each other. They should save the actual fight for later.
The couple entered the elevator. Paul watched from afar without barging in.
"Leonard Sullivan? Who do you think you are?" He lit up another cigarette as he made a call. "Look into this man for me. I need everything on him."
Paul scoffed at Leonard's attempt to take Stephanie away from him-the man had overestimated himself. Paul believed that Stephanie was his and no one should take her away from him.
When Stephanie and Leonard exited the elevator and arrived at the door, he urged, "Go in. I'll watch until you're inside.
He needed to see her walk inside her house to feel assured. She did not budge.
Biting her lips, she blurted out, *Do you want to come in?"
"Uh…Your parents are at home. It's going to be awkward." He looked shy. Even though he was her boyfriend, he needed more time to get ready to meet the future in-laws.
However, she wasn't bothered by his concerns. "Just come in. My parents are really nice."
Since she was insistent, he decided not to back out. He bit the bullet and said, "Sure."
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1165-Mr. Walter Has Gone Missing Back at Alec's villa, Alec served dinner in no time and sat down to eat with Jenny. The two chatted during dinner, mostly about the interesting episodes in her consultations. While talking, a thought crossed his mind, and he said, "I have an event on Sunday. Do you want to go with me?’ Since they started dating, they had not attended official events as a couple.
Sunday's event would be a great time to do so.
"Sure," she agreed immediately since she would be free on Sunday.
"Here. Eat up." He piled food on her plate with a smile. He was clearly in a good mood. Although their days looked simple and monotonous, it was a dream come true for him.
After dinner, he went back to work in his study. Jenny went to the living room to read. After the previous incident, she didn't follow him to the study anymoreshe'd be distracted from her reading, and he'd struggle to focus on work.
She was reading profession-related books to prepare for a professional exam in two months. Even with her talent and experience in the field, she'd need to treat the exam seriously.
Her thoughts were interrupted by a sudden call. It was from Mr. Ortiz, which shocked her. "Mr. Ortiz."
"Miss Walter. Mr. Walter has gone missing." She heard his worried tone and sat up straight from her relaxed position on the couch. "What happened?"
Next, Mr. Ortiz updated her on the events prior. Graham had apparently tried to look for Lynette Bell based on the clues in his hands. When he was close to getting to her, he went missing, which was alarming.
She frowned deeply after hearing that. "Mr. Ortiz, you've been with my dad.
What do you think is the reason behind his disappearance?"
"I think…" A pause later, he shared his honest thoughts, "It has something to do with your mom's side of the family."
She wasn't surprised at the answer. In fact, she harbored the same guess.
"We ran into a few assassination attempts as Mr. Walter dug deeper. We managed to handle those attempts. From that moment, I knew someone didn't want us to look deeper into her. So, I advised Mr. Walter to give up."
Obviously, Graham would not give up easily.
After some serious thinking, she said to him, "Mr. Ortiz, send the information you have to me. I mostly need the information on my mom's family."
"Sure. I'll send them over to you soon," he promised.
After the call, her eyebrows were knitted tightly out of grave concern.
"What's wrong?" Alec came to the first floor and went up to her. He knew that something was wrong, given the expression on her face. She didn't hide the truth from him. "My dad's gone missing."
Even Alec looked worried at that moment. Graham was Jenny’s dad and his future father-in-law. If anything bad happened to Graham, it'd greatly affect Jenny.
"Don't panic for now. He might be safe too. We can surely find him," he sat by her side and assured her.
She nodded rationally. "Don't worry. I’m fine."
She was gripped by worry, but she'd never lose her mind. Her priority now was to locate Graham, and the other matters could be dealt with another day.
She heard a chime on her phone-Mr. Ortiz had sent her the information. She stopped talking to Alec and started pouring over the files.
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1166-You're the Boss Now Alec joined Jenny in checking out the information in an attempt to help. After she was done reading, the expression on her face grew serious.
Just as she had guessed, her mom, Lynette, came from an impressive background. The Bell family was quite something. But Jenny had never heard of the family in Bardoff City, which could only mean that the family was located somewhere else.
She glanced at Mr. Ortiz's current location-he was in Bayside City. It was a city near the sea. She had heard of the place before. Residents of Bayside were rumored to be good in business, and they mostly ran family businesses. The families there were very united.
"Alec, how possible do you think it's the doing of my mom's family?’ she asked him.
He gave it some thought and answered, "Judging from the situation and the details you shared about your parents, I think it's highly possible that her family took your dad."
From the clues in the past, one could tell that Lynette Bell's family was against her marriage to Graham, which was why they took her away and barred her from showing up. Alec, however, was confused by their action because Graham was still a good match for Jenny's mom, even if he weren't the head of the Walters. The Bayside City families might be filthy rich, but they could never rival the Bardoff City families in terms of stature.
Alec and Jenny would not know the reason behind the puzzling action. Perhaps, they could only get to the truth once they found Lynette.
"I think so too. Maybe the family found out that Dad was looking for my mom, but they made a move against him because they didn't want him to reach her,’ Jenny surmised.
"What do you plan to do, then?" he asked.
She fell silent, rapping her knuckles against the tabletop. A moment later, she answered, ’Of course, I'll knock on their door and ask for my dad." She would never act like Graham, who insisted on searching for her mom in secret even after he found out about the Bells. It was a waste of time, in her opinion. She'd confront the family right away instead of going through a grueling search.
"Yeah. That works," Alec agreed with her. If the Fausts and the Walters worked together, no Bayside family was to be feared.
Once she made her decision, she refused to waste more time since Graham was still in the hands of that family.
Alec held her hand and said in defeat, "I know you're anxious, but you should wait until the next morning. There's no flight to Bayside City at this time."
"I'll pack my bags and take leave from the hospital." The mention of leavetaking made her embarrassed. She had just returned from leave but had to excuse herself again.
"Don't overthink it. The Faust Group has acquired the hospital, so you're the boss now. You can go to work or take leave as you wish." He smiled at her. The acquisition was something he'd been busy with.
She froze after hearing that. No wonder the director told her not to rush her return to work and had been extra nice to her in the past two days.
She was at a loss for words. "Why would you acquire the hospital out of the blue?"
"There's no need to overthink it. It's part of the usual business strategy of the Faust Group," he explained.
A usual business strategy? She'd be a fool to believe in him. Still, she knew he acquired the hospital in her best interest-he didn't want to burden her with the information and hoped she'd be comfortable at work.
"Thank you,’ she thanked him and went upstairs, disappearing from his sight.
He stared at her and pouted. "It's always a thank you from her without any physical reward."
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1167-A Visit to the Bell Family When Jenny boarded a flight out of Bardoff City, she could not help but lament her hectic life due to all the things she had to deal with. She wondered how Graham was holding up, hoping nothing bad had happened to him.
This time around, Alec did not join her on the trip to Bayside City. On the one hand, he was busy with work in Faust Group; on the other hand, Jenny was confident she could handle the matter independently. She was far from helpless and handled most things in life well on her own. He was worried about her but did not insist on going with her-he knew her personality too well. There was no changing her mind once she arrived at a decision.
It was a four-hour trip from Bardoff City to Bayside City, a longer trip than to Parrington. That was no surprise because Bayside was closer to the sea. While everyone in Bardoff was huddled up in coats, the residents of Bayside could show off in summer dresses.
When Jenny alighted the plane in her coat, she was instantly attacked by the heat and started sweating on her back. She quickly found a restroom and changed out of her thick clothes into something comfortable.
Mr. Ortiz was already waiting for her at the entrance to the airport. He was a longtime staff in the Walter Family. After Graham handed the family matters to Jenny, he enrolled Mr. Ortiz in his search for Jenny’s biological mom. At this point, Graham was more than an employer to Mr. Ortiz.
"Mr. Ortiz!" Jenny waved at him after she spotted him.
He respectfully opened the car door for her. "Miss Walter, please get in."
"Sure.* Without wasting time, she entered the car, and they left the airport.
He appeared worried in the car. 'Miss Walter, we have heard nothing from Mr.
Walter. Could something…have happened to him?"
"Mr. Ortiz, do you know the location of the Bells' family home?" Instead of answering him, she posed another question.
He was slightly taken aback before replying, "Yes. I went there with Mr. Walter once, but I only took a glance from the entrance. I didn't go in."
"Okay. Let's go visit the Bells," she ordered, to his surprise.
He asked, "Did you say we're going to the Bells? What do you mean?"
"If we can't find my dad, we will confront the Bells and demand his release. I don’t think they'll lay a finger on me.' She was rather confident on that front. At the end of the day, she was part of the Bells as well. If she met the family, she might have to address the heads of the family as her grandpa and grandma, even though she would refuse to do so in that event.
Mr. Ortiz thought that Jenny's decision was bold, but it was a perfect plan upon second thought. Confronting the Bells sounded easier than wasting time searching for Graham. Soon, he turned the car around and sped toward the Bell Villa.
The villa was easily located because the Bells were popular in Bayside City.
Jenny stared at the villa from afar and scoffed, "They seem to follow the same design in this city."
"Yeah, I think so. Mr. Walter and I realized that when we first arrived." The residents preferred to show off their wealth through the design of their homes, which was their expression of vanity.
When the car rolled to a stop, Jenny hopped out with a concerned Mr. Ortiz by her side. 'Miss Walter, are you sure you want to march in like this? Won't they do something to you?"
"Mr. Ortiz, we're living under the rule of law. They won't do anything to me."
Well, at least on the surface. She couldn't be sure if the Bells would secretly make a move on her after she left the villa later. However, she wasn't bothered by the thought because she had her men to protect her. Who knew if the Bells would end up at a disadvantage?
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1168-How Ridiculous!
After that, Jenny headed straight toward the villa, marching as though she was on her way to a battle. Mr. Ortiz hurried after her. The last thing he wanted to see was Jenny getting herself in trouble after what had happened to Graham.
She knocked on the door. A pair of servants, one old and one young, answered the door fairly soon, and both frowned at the visitors. "Who are you? And what are you here for?' It was common knowledge among the residents of Bayside City that this area was the territory of the Bells. No one would stir trouble there because that'd be courting death. Jenny and Mr. Ortiz didn't look like locals to the servants.
"I'm here to meet the head of the Bell family," Jenny announced.
The young man frowned and smirked. "Who do you think you are? How dare you demand to meet the head? You…"
"I am the daughter of Lynette Bell. Pass the message to him. Let's see if he will meet me or not,' Jenny fired back boldly. She was confident that the Bells would be curious about her current life.
The man’s expression crumbled upon hearing Lynette's name. Her name was like a banned word in the family, and no one was allowed to mention or gossip about her. For decades, Lynette Bell's name had disappeared from the family's collective consciousness. The young man was shocked to hear it mentioned again and from the mouth of Lynette's daughter at that.
He dared not make a decision, so he told Jenny that he would notify the family head before vanishing from the door. She was in no rush, and she hung out at the door.
"Miss Walter, do you think they'll meet you?" Mr. Ortiz asked anxiously.
She glanced at the door and said nonchalantly, "They probably will. Aren't they curious about me after all the years?"
Indeed, the Bells were curious about Lynette's daughter. They weren't expecting her to be alive. After all, they received news from Bardoff City years ago that the girl was dead. Not only was the daughter alive, she even traveled all the way to their residence. Was she here to demand justice for her mother? But Lynette was no longer with the Bells. So, what did she want from them?
"Sir, would…would you like to meet with her?" the servant inquired. A moment of silence later, Barry Bell cast a questioning look at his wife, who was seated beside him, as though he wanted her opinion.
Georgina Simpson was silent for a while but finally ordered, 'Let her in."
The servant immediately left. Barry turned to Georgina. "What do youthink is the reason for her sudden visit?' "Is there any reason other than asking about Lynette?" When she mentioned Lynette, she did so without any hint of emotion, as if she was discussing a stranger. Barry behaved in the same manner, only with more disgust at Lynette.
"No matter what's her reason, we have nothing to fear. She's a Walter, but so what? The Bells don't fear them," Georgina declared. Barry nodded, thinking that she was right.
Soon, Jenny was brought into the main hall, where Barry and Georgina were seated. They were her maternal grandparents, but she'd never acknowledge her relationship with them.
"Mr. and Mrs. Bell," Jenny addressed them in a polite but distant manner. The old couple exchanged a look. Georgina was slightly shocked upon seeing Jenny's face, for the granddaughter bore an uncanny resemblance to Lynette.
For a moment, she thought she was staring at a young Lynette.
Barry held the same opinion, but instead of being engrossed, he asked coldly, "What brings you to the Bell family?"
"I'd like to ask you, Mr. Bell, about the whereabouts of my dad," Jenny explained her purpose of visit without beating around the bush.
Hearing that, Barry and Georgina looked confused, but they soon snickered at her. "You're here to ask about your dad? That's ridiculous!' "Is it? I don't think so," Jenny replied as she fixed her eyes on Barry. 'My dad has recently been looking for my mom, Lynette. Just when he's close to getting a clue, he vanishes all of a sudden. Mr. Bell, what do you think? Who would have taken him?"
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1169-Would You Still Be as Fearless?
"Is Graham Walter looking for Lynette? But why? It's been many years, and he should have put the past behind him," Barry thought. Barry and Georgina had many questions in their head, but instead of saying them out loud, they treated Jenny coldly. "Are you suspecting us of taking your dad?"
"I can't think of anyone else who’d do that aside from the Bell family. That's why I came here to clear things up," Jenny explained, her eyes remained fixed on the couple. She observed the look in their eyes and was puzzled by their shocked faces when they heard that Graham was searching for Lynette. Did they not know about Graham's disappearance at all? Who would be the mastermind behind the disappearance if not them?
"Hmph! That's ridiculous.’ Barry scoffed, looking displeased. "Graham Walter thinks too highly of himself. We'd never waste time on him. And you -who do you think you are? Why should we prove ourselves to you?"
Her expression fell. The rumors appeared to be true-the Bell family was the elite in Bayside City.
"Mr. Bell, you overestimated us. My dad and I are running this small business.
Of course, we are no match for the Bells." Jenny refused to back down. Even though the Bells were not as influential as the Walters, they had their pride and standing. Bayside City was their territory, and the Walters had to defer to them in the area.
Barry understood the underlying meaning of her words and scoffed, "The Walters is one of the Ten Elites, but us Bells are not scared of them at all."
"Are you sure?" She gave him a hawkish stare. "What if my family works with the Fausts? Would you still be as fearless?"
Barry, who never lived in Bardoff City, was still privy to developments in Bardoff City. The Fausts had a new family head, which was rumored to be a young man.
Was Jenny associated with him?
Jenny flashed him a soft smile with a hint of glee. "The head of the Faust family, Alec Faust, is now my boyfriend. I think he wouldn't turn me down if I asked him to work with me against the Bells."
Barry's expression changed upon hearing that. He did not fear the Walters, but the Walters working with the Fausts would be a problem…
"If that is not enough to make you fear us, how about throwing in the Windsors?
James Windsor is my senior. I bet he wouldn't say no," she added. She did not believe that the Bell Family had the capability to take on the attacks from three Bardoff Elites.
Barry knew that as well. After going through multiple changes in his expression, he faltered and appeared upset. "What do you really want?’ "I want nothing from you except for the whereabouts of my dad." This time, she sounded stern. At first, she started with room for negotiation, but now, she was threatening him.
Barry frowned but didn't let his anger get the better of him. "I don’t know. Lynette has left the family for decades. Even if he wants to look for her, this is not the right place to start."
"She left the Bells?" Jenny frowned. She had no idea about that information.
"Yes. After we brought her home, she refused to follow our arrangements. So, she left us," Barry explained with a lackadaisical attitude.
Jenny doubted his account-if the Bell Family went as far as to bring her home, why would they allow her to leave that easily?
Full of questions, she decided to focus on Graham's safety for the time being.
"Do you really have nothing to do with my dad’s disappearance?"
To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1170-Do We Really Need to Investigate?
"No. Before your arrival, we had no idea that your dad was looking for Lynette,” Barry replied.
Jenny frowned, thinking that the matter might be more complicated than it seemed. Who was behind Graham's disappearance if the Bell family wasn't involved? It was unlikely that Graham had any enemies in Bayside City, though.
She lowered her head as she sank into deep thoughts. Seeing that, Barry didn't want to waste time on the matter. "I've said all there is to be said.
You shall leave now. We do not welcome you, so I hope this is the final time we meet."
Jenny couldn't help but laugh. "Logically, I should call you Grandpa and Grandma. It boggles me why you were against my parents. My dad isn’t that inadequate, is he?"
"Shut up!" Barry bellowed. "I'm not your grandpa! Lynette had an illicit affair with a man behind our back and gave birth to a bastard child! Remember- you are not related to us!’ His tone was filled with hatred and disdain. In his eyes, the fact that Jenny shared their blood was an insult to the family.
"Hah! A bastard child?" she scoffed. That was her first time hearing that description. She lifted her head and shot him an icy glance. "Don't worry. I have no interest whatsoever in your family. And you'd better not lay a finger on my dad. If I caught you lying, I swear I'd wipe your family off the surface of the earth!’ With that, she got up to leave. At the door, she turned around and asked Barry, "Where did Lynette go?' Barry's face crumbled as though he was avoiding something. "I don't know. We didn't look for her after she left. And we have not been in contact for decades.' Had it not been for Jenny's visit, they would have forgotten about the existence of their daughter.
"What lovely parents you are." Chuckling sarcastically, Jenny left the Bell couple.
Barry and Georgina watched on, lost in their thoughts. In the beginning, they thought Jenny resembled Lynette. After some interactions, they realized that the daughter couldn't be more different than the mother.
As a daughter of the Bells, Lynette was weak and timid. The only time she rebelled was when she escaped from her family and gave birth to Jenny with Graham.
But Jenny was different. From their short meeting, the Bells could tell that Jenny was a merciless woman.
Barry gathered himself and ordered his servants, "Get someone to look into Graham's disappearance. He went missing in Bayside Citysomething's fishy."
"Barry, do we really need to investigate? What does his safety have to do with us?" Georgina was against the move. She was reluctant to be associated with Graham in any way.
"We need to! Even if we can't find him, we need to gather evidence to prove that we have nothing to do with his disappearance," he explained. "If Jenny wants to destroy us with the help of the Fausts and the Windsors, we are no match for them.’ Even if they were in their territory in Bayside City, they would be toast if the three elite families from Bardoff City came for them. It was a risk he couldn't take.
Meanwhile, Jenny had marched out of the Bell Villa. Mr. Ortiz was waiting at the entrance. Seeing her, he hurried over. "Miss Walter, are you alright?' Time passed by slowly as he waited for her in anxiety.
"I'm fine. But the Bells claimed they had no idea Dad came looking for Lynette."
They had reached a dead-end in their pursuit, and Jenny felt lost.
