To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1051-Watch After Him Of course, Paul didn't.

But right now, the distance between him and Stephanie was already unbearably far. It felt like there was nothing he could do to win her back.

"I still have a chance with Leonard out of the picture. Right now. I'm basically nothing to her!" Paul insisted, having been incredibly jealous and angry ever since Leonard put his hands on Stephanie.

Alec shook his head. "Do you really think so? Don't you know just how determined Stephanie can be?"

He could guess based on how Jenny was like. If Paul actually killed Leonard, not only would he lose all his chances, Stephanie might hate him for life.

Paul seemed to understand that as well. He clutched his head, panicked." What do I do then? Fucking tell me what to do, Alec? I can't just watch them get closer to each other!"

He really couldn't handle it.

"Do you want to hear my honest opinion, Paul?’ Alec said, sad for his distressed friend.

"No. Hell no. She still loves me. I know she does. She's just angry at me for what happened before. I'll make her forgive me!’ Paul cried.

Alec sighed. He wouldn't push it, then.

"Be strong then, my friend." He patted Paul's shoulder and then went downstairs to give the man some space.

Jenny was grilling some wings with Stephanie and the others when she spotted Alec. She hurriedly went over. ’Well? How'd it go? He's not going to do it, is he?"

Jenny couldn't help but imagine the worst when Paul stormed away from dinner, only to summon Alec to the study.

Alec rubbed his temples. "Not for the time being, no."

"So he really was considering it?" Jenny instantly picked up what Alec was implying.

"Why do you have to be so sharp?" Alec huffed, shaking his head.

"Tell him I'm warning him-if he comes for Leonard, I will not hesitate to cut him down.* Leonard wasn't his friend, but since he might be Stephanie's next partner, Jenny wasn't going to allow him to get hurt.

Alec sighed. "Don't worry. I'll watch after him."

He knew Jenny meant it, so he could only do his best to convince Paul not to be so rash. It was difficult being stuck between the woman he loved and his best friend.

"Please do. I won't be the least bit kind to him if he tries anything stupid." Not even the fact that he was Paul's friend would change that.

"Alright, alright."

The two then joined in the barbecue, waiting for midnight to come.

Two minutes before midnight, everyone left the villa and went out into the streets. Fireworks were already lined at the ready in front of the neighboring houses, waiting to be set alight.

"Remember to make a wish," Stephanie reminded Jenny.

"Wish? Will it come true?" Jenny hadn’t heard of this tradition before.

Stephanie gazed at the sky, smiling. "Who knows? What if it does?

To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1052-Did You Make a Wish?

As the clock struck midnight, fireworks were launched into the sky, bursting into bright, colorful blossoms. Jenny happily admired the view, quietly making a wish for herself.

Her wish was for Evan to be able to walk again.

"Did you make a wish yet?" Stephanie asked.

Jenny nodded. ' But I can't tell you what it was."

"I understand. It won't come true if you do. I made my wish too." Stephanie grinned, staring up at the beautiful light show.

After it was over, the guests left one after the other. Stephanie got into Leonard's car, waving goodbye to Jenny. "Bye. Happy New Year, Jenny!"

"Happy New Year!"

The villa soon cleared out, leaving only Alec, Jenny, and Evan.

Alec ignored the man and went straight to Jenny. 'Happy New Year, Jenny."

"Happy New Year." Jenny grinned. 'Oh, wait for me one sec.’ Jenny ran back to Evan's place, grabbing the gift she'd gotten for Alec.

Alec didn't know whether to laugh or cry as he watched her run in, glancing at the gift he'd prepared for her.

Jenny soon returned with a gift box. 'Here, your New Year’s present."

"Thank you. I got you something too.” Alec handed her his gift box.

Jenny beamed at him as she held it. "Thank you. We should get back now. Get some rest.*

"Okay." Alec nodded.

When Jenny and Evan went back, she was presented with another present."

Happy New Year, Jen.’ "Thank you, Evan." Jenny had already given him his gift, so she didn't have any to hand in return right now.

"Goodnight then.’ Evan nodded.

"G'night." Jenny went back to his room, excited to see what present Alec got for her.

Evan watched as she shut the door, face darkening immediately.

"Make the necessary preparations," he murmured, much to Howard's surprise.

He swiftly understood what Evan meant. "Right away, boss!’ Meanwhile, Jenny first unwrapped Alec's present for her. It was a silver ring with a pink diamond embedded on one end. In the box was a card reading, "I hope I can put this on you myself one day, Jenny."

"Silly," Jenny murmured fondly.

She tucked the ring away, then opened the present Evan had gotten her.

It was a red cotton scarf. ’Festive!" Jenny thought.

She could tell how considerate of a gift this was. It wasn't fancy or expensive, but it was functional.

Jenny wrapped it around her neck and went downstairs to find Evan in the living room. "Thank you for your present, Evan. I love it!"

Evan smiled when he saw her wearing the scarf. "I'm glad you do."

"Go and sleep soon, you hear? We have to wake up early tomorrow." It was customary to wake up early on the first day of the new year here in Bardoff City, after all.

"I will." Evan nodded. He didn't have the habit of sleeping in anyway.

As Jenny closed the door, Evan finally calmed down.

He couldn't let someone so wonderful leave him, could he?

To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1053-Let Him Be Damned After the New Year celebration, Jenny spent most of her time caring for Evan in his villa. Occasionally, Alec would invite them over for dinner. Life was overall good.

After the holidays, everyone went back to work. Alec's appointment as the CEO of the Faust Group was explosive news, but at least it put an end to the fight over the position. The stock price soared, proving that everyone had confidence in him.

Meanwhile, Alec wasn't too bothered by the harassment from the other families.

To him, those were mere inconveniences that needed some time to be settled.

After he took over the Faust Group, the Watkins didn't make any move on him.

After all, Blake needed to work hand-in-hand with Alec, and it wouldn't make sense to go against him.

In the afternoon, Alec was busy at work when he received a call from Blake, who requested to meet up.

"If you have anything to say, just tell me over the phone. I’m busy." He was reluctant to be in contact with her. He really was busy and didn't want to cause unnecessary misunderstandings.

"I thought you wanted to catch that man? I'll hand him over to you." She had interrogated the man in her hands, but he was tight-lipped and didn't reveal any information. In that case, she'd rather hand him over to Alec as a favor.

He furrowed his brow and considered her offer. Then, he agreed, "Where are you? I'll come over."

"At the villa. You know where it is." When Alec lost his memories, he woke up in that villa of hers. Hence, he should know the address.

He hung up and left for Blake's villa from the Faust Group office in a hurry. After the New Year, he planned to have Dr. Gaarder tend to Evan's injuries because he'd never allow Jenny to stay by Evan's side forever.

It didn't take long before he arrived at the villa. He entered the place and saw that Blake had brought the man to the living room-he was covered in injuries.

Alec stared at him for a while as the frown on his face deepened. "Have you interrogated him?"

"Yeah. But he's tight-lipped. He refused to say a word." She shrugged, indicating that she had tried her best. Alec wasn't surprised by the outcome, knowing that a man like the one Blake captured was ready to die at anytime, and asking for clues would be tougher than landing on the moon.

Alec wasn't too concerned with the failed interrogation because he was sure the investigation would bear fruit over time.

He waved toward his back, and the men who came with him brought the captive away. "I'll bring him with me."

"Sure. But don't forget about what you promised me," Blake reminded him- she wasn't doing him a favor for nothing.

"I always keep my promise. If you want to take over the Watkins family, you have to be familiar with what is going on. You need to at least give me a loophole to work on," he suggested.

Blake understood his words and felt assured when she realized that he wouldn't walk back on his words. "Sure. I'll find that loophole for you."

Without saying more, he left her villa. On his way home, he recalled the face of the man who Blake captured, and his expression fell. The man had typical foreign features and was clearly not a Clusian. Could the mastermind be a foreigner?

"No, that doesn't sound right. The mastermind could be a local with foreigners working for them," he thought.

Almost instantly, Evan Clarke's face appeared in his mind. The only person with a huge army of foreign subordinates would be Evan. Alec recalled the scene where Evan refused to let Dr. Gaarder check the injuries and felt that he had arrived at the truth.

If his guess was correct, let Evan be damned!

To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1054-Something Fishy Behind His Injuries Alec brought Dr. Gaarder with him when he showed up at Evan's villa. Jenny was off to the hospital, leaving Evan staring at Alec with a scowl on his face.

'What's going on, Mr. Faust?"

"Dr. Gaarder will fly home soon. Before he leaves, I hope you could allow him to check your injuries. You probably wouldn't want to be using a wheelchair for the rest of your life,’ Alec explained with a half-smile on his face.

Evan shot him a look and noticed the ten bodyguards who came with Alec. He then smirked. “Is that so? Mr. Faust, seeing the men you brought, I thought you were here for a robbery."

"Mr. Clarke, you're overthinking it." Alec smiled gently.

"What if I refuse to let you in?" Evan challenged him. He stopped smiling as Alec's bodyguards marched over.

"Oh well, I would have no choice but to force my way in. You wouldn't want that to happen."

"Alec Faust, are you trespassing on private property now?" Evan's expression hardened. Alec was unbothered as he walked up to Evan. "How could you put it that way? I am doing so because I worry about your injuries. Why are you so against a checkup?"

Evan was silent, but his eyes were shooting daggers at Alec.

Alec questioned with a knowing smile, "Is there something fishy behind your injuries?"

At that moment, Evan realized that Alec must have caught on. Even if Alec had no confirmation of the details, he must have harbored suspicion. Evan thought, ’Looks like I have to speed up the process of moving abroad." "I have no idea what you're talking about. Please leave before I call the police, Mr. Faust," he scoffed, refusing to let Dr. Gaarder check his injuries.

Alec inched closer to him instead of walking away. "Mr. Clarke, I'm afraid there's no running away today." He was determined to make Dr. Gaarder perform a checkup on Evan to determine if the injuries were fake.

Howard Young stood in front of Evan as protection, but he was nothing to Alec.

Just as Alec was about to pin down Howard, Jenny stopped her car on the porch. "Alec Faust! What are you doing?"

He froze upon hearing Jenny's voice. He purposely chose a time when Jenny was at the hospital to visit Evan, but…

He glanced at Evan, who had a gleeful smirk on his face, and immediately pieced everything together. It was fine. Judging by Evan's reaction alone, he could tell that there was something fishy behind Evan's injuries. In other words, there was something fishy behind Jenny's abduction.

"Jenny, I brought Dr. Gaarder to perform a checkup on Evan," he replied.

Jenny finally noticed the doctor’s presence, and her expression softened." Okay.

Just do the checkup. Why did you have to play rough?"

"Mr. Clarke, for some reason, refused the checkup. I could only force him to do so." Alec glanced at Evan with a smile.

Evan met Jenny's eyes and answered calmly, "Mr. Faust came knocking on my door with his men. I felt that he was here to assault me, not performing a checkup. Of course, I wouldn't agree to that." His explanation made sense because he had beef with Alec.

Jenny agreed that it was odd for Alec to show up with his men. "Alec, Evan is still injured. What were you planning to do?"

"He's injured? But I wonder if those are actual injuries.’ Alec snickered.

Even though he didn't have solid evidence, he was almost sure that Evan was faking the injuries.

Jenny frowned at his weird accusation. Why would Evan use a wheelchair if he wasn't injured? It wasn't pleasant to be wheelchair-bound

To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1055-Ignore Him "Alec, I know you don't like Jenny looking after me, but you don't have to hurt me in this way," Evan spoke with sorrow in his eyes. Jenny instantly felt bad for him because he was injured while saving her. Nobody would want to be confined to a wheelchair if they had a choice.

"Jenny, how about you leave with Mr. Faust? Howard's around, and he can take care of me." Evan decided to "compromise" with a forced smile on his face.

However, Jenny would never leave him behind. She went up to him and wheeled him into the villa. "Ignore him. I'll send you to your room for a rest."

Soon, the two vanished from Alec's sight. He gritted his teeth, holding back the urge to pin down Evan and force the checkup on him. But he knew better than to do that.

Instead, he ordered the bodyguards to leave. Only he and Dr. Gaarder were waiting at the entrance. Half an hour later, Jenny finally exited Evan's villa. It seemed that she had helped Evan to settle down. For some reason, Alec felt bitter at the sight.

"Alec, what exactly are you doing? Even if you want a checkup for Evan out of kindness, you shouldn't go about it in this manner." As a doctor, Jenny understood Evan's repulsion toward medical professionals. Many patients who had sustained grave injuries develop trauma against checkups.

Alec felt aggrieved, but he had no way to air his grievance. "Jenny, don't you think it's weird for him to reject Dr. Gaarder's checkup?"

"There’s nothing weird about that from the lens of psychology," she answered.

He fell silent after hearing her reply, and a moment later, he went straight to the point, "I suspect that he's faking his injuries. He's not injured at all."

Jenny looked bewildered, wondering if she misheard him. He turned around and said to Dr. Gaarder, "Dr. Gaarder, please repeat your analysis."

Dr. Gaarder nodded. Even though he was unaware of the dynamics among the three, he spared no details in his hypothesis. He argued that Evan's case was serious, which logically would leave him paralyzed in bed instead of making him a wheelchair user. Plus, a patient like him should be suffering from agonizing pain, a far cry from his spirited manner. Apart from Evan's inability to stand up from the wheelchair, he seemed normal otherwise.

Hearing that, Jenny understood that Alec wasn't fooling around, and she became pensive. "Dr. Gaarder, perhaps he's had a smooth recovery. What do you think?"

Dr. Gaarder didn't deny the possibility. "That's plausible. That's why it would be best for me to perform a checkup on him." The truth would only be revealed after a professional checkup. However, it was almost impossible to do so on Evan, given his strong resistance.

"Got it. Thanks, Dr. Gaarder." She nodded.

Alec sighed. "Dr. Gaarder is not going to be around Bardoff City forever. He's leaving today. That's why I brought him over. I didn't expect that…"

He did not expect Evan to do him dirty by calling Jenny home.

Jenny glanced at Alec, seemingly reading his mind. "Even if he refuses to comply, you cant force things on him."

"I just wanted to verify if he's really injured," he answered. Then, he added," One of your kidnappers fell into my hands, and he's a foreigner. You should know what I mean by now.

To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1056-Impossible Jenny was taken aback once more. She was no fool—there must be a reason why Alec emphasized the background of the kidnapper.

Staring at him in disbelief, she finally blurted out, "Do you suspect Evan of planning my kidnapping?"

"More accurately, I suspect he orchestrated the whole thing to make you stay by his side after saving your life." There was no good reason for Evan to kidnap Jenny, but what if that was never the goal? Right now, it seemed that Evan had gotten what he wanted.

"Impossible!" she said without thinking. "That doesn't sound like Evan at all. N Alec had wanted to tell her that Evan was no saint, but he felt upset upon seeing how firmly she trusted Evan. "Maybe. But for him to be innocent, he has to be recovering from real injuries."

"Alright. I got it. I’ll talk to him and get him to do a checkup at a Bardoff City hospital," she suggested, thinking that having Dr. Gaarder around was unnecessary. Alec knew there was no point arguing because Jenny wouldn't allow him to do as he wished. He turned around and gave the doctor an apologetic look. "Sorry for the trouble all this while. I'll get someone to drive you to the airport."

"No worries." Dr. Gaarder didn't mind it at all. After bidding them farewell, he left.

Jenny didn't feel better after Dr. Gaarder's departure. She knew what Alec was thinking, but she refused to believe that Evan was the type of guy to pull dirty tricks.

"Don't worry about Evan. I'll make him go for a checkup." With that, she went into the villa. He watched as she walked away from him. He had the urge to say something, but he was silent until the end.

Whatever. Alec decided that his priority was to obtain solid evidence. Any argument at this point was a meaningless guess.

In the next few days, Jenny was plagued by conflicted feelings in the next few days, but she did not immediately force Evan to go for a checkup. As usual, she took care of him as though nothing had happened.

Alec fell back into the routine of calling her after she retired to her bedroom.

They were in constant contact, although they weren't dating.

One day, Jenny retired to her room after sending Evan back to his. She was expecting a call from Alec after she switched on the lights, just like the days before. To her dismay, she had yet to receive a call ten minutes after the lights were on.

She stood up and walked to her bedside. There, she noticed the lights from Alec's study. He was clearly home. Why wouldn't he call her, then? Perhaps, he was occupied.

She stopped worrying and went for a shower. At first, she thought he'd be done with work after she got out of the shower, but she was surprised to find no missed calls from him.

She was somehow worried about him, so she called him instead. She waited, but no one picked up, which fueled her anxiety. She had wanted to call Old Mr.

Faust and request that he check on Alec in the study, but she remembered that the old man had gone home to Parrington a few days ago. Alec was alone in his villa.

Frowning, she made another call to him. He still did not pick up. This time, instead of waiting, she put on her coat and headed toward his villa.

To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1057-Jenny held the spare key to Alec's villa. In fact, it was Alec who insisted on giving her the key, telling her to make herself at home at his place. At that time, she thought he was being too much, but now, she felt he was wise to do so.

She entered the villa and rushed into the study, where she expected to find him buried in work. However, she opened the door to find him sprawling on the floor unconscious. She was momentarily shocked and failed to calm herself.

"Alec!" She hurried over to him. He appeared to have fainted.

When he heard her voice, he stirred a little and had a baffled look on his face upon seeing her in person. "Jenny? You…"

"Are you sick? Where?" she questioned as she observed the frown on his face and how he pressed against his abdomen.

He forced a smile and tried to put on a relaxed look. "I-I'm fine."

"Alec Faust!" She looked furious. "Do you want to die?"

"D-don't be angry. I have a bit of pain in my stomach." He had long suffered from digestive issues. Before he met Jenny, he habitually lived a life with an irregular schedule. In the past, he would have felt better after taking the meds. But he didn't expect to faint from severe stomach pain this time.

She helped him up from the floor. "Can you walk? I'll send you to the hospital."

"It's fine. I'll just take some meds." He didn't like going to the hospital and refused to move. Too bad Jenny didn’t consider his opinion. She supported him as they walked out of the study. Then, she helped him into the car before getting on and speeding to the hospital.

Meanwhile, Evan was standing behind a curtain in his villa. After Jenny and Alec left, he finally emerged from behind the curtain, went onto the balcony, and stared in the direction of Jenny's car.

"Boss, it's meaningless to go on like this. Miss Walter can't cut her ties with Alec Faust," Howard remarked. He spoke the facts not to provoke Evan but to wake Evan up to reality.

Of course, Evan was well aware of the fact. He stood silently with an ashen face. Seeing that, Howard added, "I've made the arrangements to leave for abroad. We can make the move at any time. If you've come to a decision. I'll let our men leave before us. Leaving at the same time will only make us an easy target."

Leaving? Evan did not mind leaving Clusia, but he was only worried that Jenny wouldn't follow. At that moment, he had not thought of a good way to breach the topic. So, he said, "Let's wait for a bit more. I'm waiting for the right timing."

Although he was unhappy at how Alec was hanging around Jenny, he understood that the two might have started dating had he not shown up and disrupted the plan. He didn't see his action as wrong, but he also knew it was impossible to keep Jenny away from Alec unless something happened, causing her to lose her faith in the man…

Jenny got Alec into the emergency room at the hospital and waited anxiously for him by the door. Soon, a nurse who was an acquaintance emerged from the room and went straight to the point, "It's peptic ulcer- not fatal, but not good to live with it long-term either."

"Got it. Thank you." Jenny nodded as she silently grumbled about Alec's lack of concern about his health.

When Alec was wheeled out of the emergency room, he was unconscious.

Although he was fine after receiving treatment, he needed to be warded for a few days for close monitoring. Jenny helped him with the paperwork for hospitalization. Once she was done, she stayed by his side in the patient room.

The sight of his pale face gripped her heart.

To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1058-It Was an Accident Alec woke up feeling thirsty in the middle of the night. He struggled to sit and get water, but he woke Jenny up instead.

"Stop moving around," she said. "Just tell me what you want."

"Water," he muttered in a hoarse voice.

She poured him a glass of lukewarm water but held the glass in her hand." You can't drink the entire glass of water at once. I'll dab your lips with wet cotton swabs. Alright?" She coaxed him like she was pacifying a kid.

He couldn't stop smiling as he nodded. "Sure."

With Jenny around, his thirst suddenly didn't feel that bad.

After carefully wetting his lips with the cotton swab, she returned to his bedside.

"You can rest now."

"What about you? Do you plan to look after me like this?" He was glad that she chose to keep an eye on him, but he felt sorry for her at the same time.

"Yeah. I'm fine. Dawn is coming soon." She didn't mind staying up. Alec did the same for her before, so she had nothing to complain about when she was in the same position.

Alec didn't share the same opinion. He moved to the side a little to make space.

"Come lie down in bed. It must be tiring to sit through the night."

"No, that's fine. The bed is cramped enough. If I lie down, I'll only disturb your rest," she turned him down and stood up. "I'll rest on the couch. Call me over if there's anything."

The couch wasn't spacious, but it was just enough for one. Still, it beat having to rest in a chair.

Alec didn't comment further. Instead, he started chatting with her, "Why did you suddenly come to my place?"

She understood what he was getting at. After some thinking, she decided to come clean. "You didn't call long after I turned on the lights in my room. It was very odd."

"Does that mean I saved myself?" He burst out laughing.

"That's right." She nodded, agreeing with him.

"Jenny, thank you," he suddenly thanked her. Even if he was the one who saved himself, he believed that Jenny's concern was the reason she managed to find him unconscious right away.

She pursed her lips and sat up on the couch with a serious face. "How about you thank me by taking care of your health? You should at least eat your meals on time and rest well."

"Before I met you, I had nothing that kept me afloat. But I've changed a lot after meeting you." At the very least, he'd take his meals on time. Even though he still stayed up late into the night, his current lifestyle was overall better than before.

Jenny ignored his claim because she found him unconscious at home. "If you had changed, you wouldn't have fainted from pain at home."

"It was an accident." He would have been fine after taking meds, which he happened to run out of. There was no shop selling the meds in the neighborhood, so he decided to tough it out. To his dismay, the pain worsened to the point that he fainted. Still, he wouldn't say he regretted his action, for Jenny wouldn't have been taking care of him otherwise.

"Alec, you're still young, you know?" She had a grave expression on her face.

She didn't look like she was joking.

He met her eyes and immediately understood what she meant. "Don't worry. I'll be fine. I'll live a good life for your sake."

"No, you should live for yourself, not for me." She went back to lie on the couch.

In her opinion, no one should live their life for others. They should all be responsible for themselves.

To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1059-You Shouldn't Overthink Alec didn't argue with her because he had arrived at an answer. Perhaps, growing up in different environments led to a divergent mindset between them.

With her carefree attitude, she could live a good life without him.

But things were different for him. Had he not met Jenny, he'd still be muddling through life. Therefore, he'd do the best for her and was willing to live for her sake.

"Go to sleep. It's late." She checked the time and realized that morning was near.

He nodded. Even though he wasn't sleepy, he'd be a jerk to mess up Jenny's sleep schedule, given how she had been looking after her.

Silence enshrouded the room as they said nothing more. Only steady breathing sounds were heard in the air.

Jenny didn't return to Evan's villa that night, and he lost sleep over that. When morning arrived, Jenny called to inform him that she would not return for a while.

She didn't give a reason, but she was sure he understood. He said nothing else, only reminding her to take care of herself.

Somehow, she felt sorry after hanging up. She knew that Evan needed someone to look after him, and she moved in for that exact reason. Now, she had to set Evan aside because she needed to take care of Alec, and she felt bad.

Alec read her mind and said, "What Dr. Gaarder said yesterday…"

"I get what you mean. But I trust Evan. He isn't the type to pull off such a joke,"

she cut him off.

He felt defeated but shut up after that.

One day, when Jenny was still taking care of Alec in the hospital, Evan was looking dispirited at home. Howard felt bad for him and suggested, "Boss, do you want me to bring a few men and get rid of that Faust dude?" The idea had always been brewing in Howard's mind, but Evan had always asked him to hold back.

"Don't," Evan rejected the idea again. 'Alec Faust is no longer an ordinary citizen. First, there's the question of our capability to take him down. If we failed, we'd give him something to use against us."

"But we can't sit and watch!" Howard felt a little angry on behalf of Evan. He had thought that Jenny would leave Alec after she moved in to take care of Evan. He was aghast to see the thick-skinned Alec following her all the way, and the two grew even closer than before.

Evan rubbed his forehead as he felt troubled. "Call Jenny and tell her I don't feel well. Say it's a migraine."

Howard was taken aback, but he immediately understood the task even though it upset him a little. Since when did his boss have to resort to such a trick to attract the attention of the opposite gender? Women would be lining up for Evan, but why did he only have eyes for Jenny?

"Got it." No matter how Howard felt about the situation, he could only swallow it and take the orders.

Jenny had just finished her lunch with Alec when she received a call from Howard. She immediately prepared to leave when she learned that Evan wasn't feeling well. However, Alec was reluctant to see her leave in haste and grumbled, "He was all fine when I was healthy. But why does he suddenly feel sick after I'm hospitalized?"

"Alec, I don't want to ever hear that." Alec didn't lay everything out, but she could tell what he was getting at.

He unhappily pursed his lips. "It's too coincidental."

"That's what his injuries are like. He could fall sick at any moment. It has nothing to do with timing." Then, she got ready to leave. At the door, she reminded him, "Just focus on getting well. Don't think too much.

To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 1060-Can't Stand Another Day in the Hospital After Jenny left, Alec stared at the shut door with a bitter smile on his face.

"Don't think too much? How is that possible?’ he wondered.

Without Jenny around, he could not stand even a minute in the ward. Almost immediately, he called Vincent to help him with the hospital discharge procedure. Jenny was, of course, in the dark about his action. If she learned about it, she would definitely give him an earful. He was indeed a troublesome guy.

When she showed up at Evan's villa, she found Howard waiting anxiously at the door. He hurried up to her, which made her nervous. "What's wrong? He looked fine yesterday."

"I have no idea. He woke up to a migraine this morning, but he kept it from you so you wouldn't worry. His condition has worsened, but he doesn't want to go to the hospital. I had no choice but to call you home." Howard's acting skill was excellent, for Jenny didn't detect anything amiss. Without further questions, she went up to Evan's room on the second floor. Howard stayed on the first floor, hoping fervently that Evan's trick would work.

Evan was lying in bed with a pale face. He did resemble a sickly man. *Evan, "

she called before walking up to him. "Are you okay? Where does it hurt?"

He put on a surprised look. "Why are you home?” "Do you have a migraine?" she asked.

He came to a realization and started complaining, "Howard called you, didn't he? I told him I was fine, but he liked to kick up a fuss."

"Evan, don’t blame him. He's just worried about you," she said. "I'll get you to the hospital."

"No, it's fine. I just need some rest," he refused to go to the hospital even though he knew the visit would go smoothly because of his contacts there. Still, he wanted to be cautious because Alec was at the hospital too. No one could tell if Alec would suddenly wreak havoc.

"Evan…" She was displeased when he refused to listen. "Your health is important."

"I'm really fine. Don't listen to Howard's exaggeration!" he insisted. "I bet I caught a cold because it's been chilly in the past few days. I'll sleep it off."

Since he refused to go to the hospital, she could not do much. "I'll make some soup for you. You can sleep after having the soup."

"Let Howard do it. I don't want to trouble you." He didn't want to burden her, but she was persistent. After telling him to rest, she made her way to the kitchen and started preparing the soup.

Once she left the room, Howard sneaked in. Evan had left the bed and sat in the wheelchair. Seeing Howard, he ordered, "Help me to the first floor."

"Sure, Boss," Howard obliged, happy to see Evan's uplifted mood. Indeed, Evan needed Jenny around him.

Evan showed up in the kitchen before the soup was ready. "Jenny, didn't you say you had something to tend to? Let Howard make the soup. Just go do whatever you need."

"It's fine. I'll get the soup ready. It wasn't urgent anyway." Before leaving the hospital, she had called Vincent, whom she assumed had arrived to look after Alec.
