The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 721
Today was bound to be a tumultuous one. Madelyn had just landed at the airport via helicopter and was about to board her private plane. She could not shake off a lingering sense of unease; her escape seemed to be too easy.
Madelyn walked alongside Leyton, who was pushing Ethan in a wheelchair. Just as they were about to board the plane, the airport’s loudspeaker blared, ” Attention, dear passengers. All flights will be delayed by ten minutes. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.
As if on cue, a fleet of sleek black cars pulled up in an imposing formation, effectively encircling them. Madelyn felt her face drain of color, her mind racing to catch up with the rapid turn of events.
Then, a Rolls-Royce pulled up. Out stepped Zach, a man exuding an aura of menace, dressed impeccably in an expensive black suit that seemed tailored to perfection. He looked like a demon summoned from the depths of hell itself, sent to claim souls.
‘Why is he here? Isn’t he marrying Yvonne today?’ Madelyn thought. Madelyn stared in disbelief at Cecilia, who was resplendent in a form-fitting red dress, standing beside Zach with a smug, triumphant expression. They made quite the pair, their sinister energies blending seamlessly. Zach gestured toward Madelyn.
“Madelyn, come here,” he beckoned with a menacing glance. Fear clamped Madelyn’s throat shut. Cecilia just stood there, arms folded, as if watching a fascinating drama unfold. Ethan gripped Madelyn’s hand tightly. He warned, “Don’t go to him.”
The blinding sun overhead felt particularly harsh today. Leyton spoke up, “Ms. Jent, you go ahead with Mr. Arnold. I’ll try to hold him off.”
Madelyn’s eyes met Leyton’s. She stated simply, “You can’t beat him.” Taking a deep breath, Madelyn turned back toward Zach. “If I go with you let him go?” you, will
Madelyn’s voice was barely above a whisper but perfectly audible to Zach. She knew that any resistance today would be futile. The more they resisted, the harsher Zach’s punishment would be. She could endure it; Ethan could not.
Zach’s eyes darkened. “Madelyn, no one negotiates with me. I’m giving you one last chance. Are you coming willingly or shall I come and get you?”
Madelyn’s voice was shaky as she replied, “I..”
‘Will Zach let him go if I give in?’ Madelyn thought. She added, “I-I’ll go with you.”
Ethan coughed painfully, struggling to speak. “Don’t go…”
Madelyn said softly, gripping his hand. “Ethan, I won’t let anything happen to you.”
Before Madelyn knew it, Zach had seized her, and Leyton was kicked to the ground, his lip cut and bleeding. Madelyn almost lost her balance, her wrist squeezed so tightly she feared it would snap.
“Take them away,” Zach commanded.
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 722
With a single command, Zach made Madelyn and Ethan get into the car. Zach had effortlessly through seen all her carefully laid plans. Now, sitting in the car, Madelyn felt defeated. Her voice tinged with desperation, she begged, “Zach, I’m begging you, please just leave Ethan out of this. It was my idea to run away, he’s innocent.”
Zach pulled Madelyn closer. He stared intensely as he caressed her face. Madelyn felt the weight of his gaze. It was as if she was seeing the moment he wished he could have cherished her in another lifetime.
“Say one more word for him, and I’ll kill him right now,” Zach growled. Terrified, Madelyn immediately clamped her mouth shut, her whole body trembling with fear.
Kevin sat in the driver’s seat, Bluetooth earpiece in place, and reported, “Sir, the servants and the baby have been found and returned to the Southern Haven Villas.”
Madelyn’s breath caught. ‘Is Zach not sparing even the baby?’
“Turn around, back to Southern Haven Villas,” Zach commanded.
“Yes, sir,” Kevin responded. Keeping her head low and hugging her knees, Madelyn sat in the corner of the car. What should have been a ninety- minute drive from the airport to Southern Haven Villas took only about forty minutes with the car racing down the road.
Upon arrival, Zach pulled Madelyn out of the car, held her hand tightly and walked in. When he let go, she lost her balance, crashing onto the floor. Ethan was dragged in, wheelchair and all, and tipped over onto the ground.
Zach planted a merciless boot on his chest. “So, Mr. Arnold, just woke up from your coma and already causing trouble? Since when you like taking what doesn’t belong to you?”
“No, please,” Madelyn crawled toward them, clutching Zach’s leg. “He’s still injured. You could kill him. If you have a problem, blame me. I was the one who wanted to leave.”
Fury storming in his eyes, Zach exerted more pressure on Ethan, “Why must you always do that, Madelyn?”
Blood oozed from Ethan’s mouth. Madelyn sobbed uncontrollably, “I won’t do it again, I swear. Please, let him go. I won’t do that anymore.”
Ethan was hanging by a thread, looking as if he had already slipped into unconsciousness. Satisfied, Zach finally lifted his boot. He lifted Madelyn up and pinched her cheeks, “I’m doing this because you never learn.”
Zach gestured to a bodyguard. “Bring me the baby.”
“Yes, sir,” the bodyguard acknowledged. The baby was crying hysterically as he was handed to Zach. He asked Madelyn mockingly, “Don’t you love our baby? If you don’t, we can have another.”
Madelyn was sure that Zach was out of his mind. She reached to hold the baby, but Zach held her off and commanded, “Take this baby away.”
“No! Give him back to me,” Madelyn begged, falling to her knees before him, tears streaming down her face. “I’ll keep him, I swear. Zach, I’m begging you,”
Her desperate plea hung heavy in the air, a snapshot of her utter helplessness.
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 723
Zach crouched down, holding Madelyn’s chin, and inquired, “And what if it happens again?”
Madelyn’s eyes, red and swollen from tears, seemed to beg for something else. “You can do whatever you want with me, Zach. Just don’t hurt them.’
Zach’s gaze was indifferent. He asked, ‘ Madelyn, what should you call me?” Swallowing hard, Madelyn’s hoarse voice emerged, “Hubby…”
Zach leaned in to kiss away the tears on Madelyn’s eyelids, his voice softening.” There won’t be a third time, understand?”
Nodding, Madelyn watched as Zach signaled his bodyguard to hand over their baby. Assured that the baby was unharmed, she finally relaxed. In one swift motion, Zach scooped her and their baby into his arms.
Sneering at Ethan, he commanded, ” Lock him in the basement. If anyone comes looking, turn them away. Get a doctor to make sure he stays alive.”
“As you wish, sir.”
Primarily, Zach’s mission was to reel in Madelyn. Once they were in his room, he laid her on the bed. With tenderness, he claimed her with overwhelming passion, physically. Madelyn clung to the bedsheets, stifling her moans.
Time passed in a blur until their baby, fatigued from crying, fell asleep beside her. When Zach finally stopped, Madelyn sat up, her face numb and eyes listless. Without a word, she walked into the bathroom to cleanse herself, visibly shaken by her own emotions.
“Why would he do that?” Madelyn thought, staring blankly at the tub’s porcelain surface. “If I’d never met him, none of this would’ve happened.”
The bathroom door swung open. Madelyn instinctively tightened her grip around herself as Zach entered, catching her eye only briefly before looking away.
Stripping, Zach joined Madelyn in the tub. Yet even as they became one again, the atmosphere had shifted, becoming fraught with tension.
“Make some noise,” he said, nibbling on her earlobe, his own breaths ragged. “You’re better than this.”
Madelyn’s response was a faint cry, which acted like a catalyst for Zach. For another hour, their tangled relationship played out in that small, steamy space. Finally, Madelyn leaned against the frosted wall, exhausted and gasping for air.
Outside, a silhouette was visible, clearly highlighting a woman’s sensual physique. Catching sight of the outstretched hand in her peripheral vision, Madelyn instinctively recoiled and said, “I-I can get up myself.”
Watching her from across the room, Zach sensed that something was off. He wondered if he had been too hard on her earlier. Her behavior was different from usual-she was afraid, petrified even as if he was some predator looming over her.
Physically trembling, Madelyn slowly stood up, ignoring the sharp pain that lingered between her thighs. As she began to cleanse herself, Zach stopped her abruptly.
“Don’t wash it away. Keep it,” said Zach. Although Madelyn had used hot water, the moment Zach touched her, all she felt was cold.
Her voice was soft and distant as she continued, “If I don’t, I could get an infection. I can’t have a baby anymore, even if we wanted to…”
The room grew tense, their eyes locking in a stalemate, as the weight of Madelyn’s words sank in.
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 724
Madelyn hurriedly showered and draped a bathrobe over herself before stepping out of the bathroom. She had been at it for quite some time, and her baby was getting restless from hunger. The Southern Haven Villas was ill- prepared for her new needs, so she had to run out to get a few things.
As Madelyn made her way to her room, a bodyguard stopped her at the door. Just then, Zach emerged from the balcony as he had been taking a phone call.
“Whatever you need will be delivered within the hour,” he announced. “I’d like to go to my room, if that’s alright with you,” Madelyn replied, avoiding eye contact.
“In due time, you’ll move in here. I’ll stay at the Southern Haven Villas with you for now,” Zach said.
‘Sharing a room with him? What about Yvonne? Isn’t he supposed to be marrying her today?’ Questions clouded Madelyn’s mind, but she chose not to voice them.
Soon enough, the doors opened, and the staff moved Madelyn’s belongings into the room. Her wardrobe was extensive, and it quickly overran Zach’s modest collection of sleepwear, filling up nearly the entire closet. Her shoes were also neatly placed beside his.
“I could stay in a room by myself, you know. With our baby around, it’s just not convenient,” Madelyn suggested cautiously.
“That’s something we’ll all have to get used to,” Zach said, brushing a stray strand of her damp hair behind her ear. A maid chimed in, “Ms. Jent, all your things are here. Is there anything else you need?”
“No, thank you,” Madelyn replied, glancing at her vanity table and the other odds and ends that now occupied much of the room. Another servant approached, “Sir, Ms. Jent, dinner is ready.”
Zach grunted his approval. “Okay.”
Once the household staff had dispersed, he said, “Give me the baby.”
Silently, Madelyn handed over their baby. The marks from a few hours ago still colored her forearm. Zach cradled the baby in one arm and took Madelyn’s hand with the other. They descended the staircase, appearing to all the world like the perfect family unit -no signs of the undercurrents of tension apparent to any observer.
Zach had bolstered the security around the Southern Haven Villas, and the staff stood silently at attention.
Giovanna, holding a baby bottle, came out of the kitchen nervously and walked past Zach. “Ms. Jent, it’s time for the baby’s feeding,” she stammered.
Zach tried to play with the baby, who seemed less than amused and bit down on his finger at the slightest touch. Madelyn’s eyes were fixed on a spot on the floor where a bloodstain had recently been cleaned. For a moment, it was almost as though nothing had ever happened.
“I’ve thought of a name for our baby, Dalton Jardin. What do you Zach asked. think?”
Madelyn thought Zach was treating the baby like a plaything. She was surprised that he sounded almost like a loving father.
“Sure, any name is fine. You decide,” Madelyn replied. Just then, the tranquil atmosphere shattered as a bodyguard walked in, announcing, “Sir, Frida Young and her daughter have arrived.”
Without looking up, Zach commanded, “Let them in.”
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 725
‘Frida and Yvonne are here?’ Madelyn thought as she stood up hurriedly. Zach interrupted her, “Where are you going?”
Madelyn replied, “I don’t think I should stick around.” Lifting his head, Zach’s icy eyes were filled with authority. He ordered, “Sit down and eat.”
Before Madelyn could say another word, two figures stormed into the room, bristling with righteous indignation. Yvonne wore an elegant golden dress embroidered with phoenix patterns, something one would wear for special occasions. She had been sitting alone in a hotel room, dressed and waiting, but Zach had never returned.
It wasn’t until Frida told Yvonne that Ethan had been taken away by Zach at the airport that Yvonne had finally woken up to reality.
‘Zach left me on our wedding day. We had just exchanged vows today. How could he forget just like that?’
“Why are you doing this to me? Did you forget that today is our wedding day? You’re supposed to be with me,” Yvonne’s voice quivered, her makeup barely concealing her pale, distraught face. Her eyes were red as if she’d been crying, and on her ring finger was a flashy wedding band that she had personally selected.
“Was there an important reason that forced you to leave?” Yvonne pleaded, desperate for an explanation. Yvonne had never even seen Zach wear his wedding ring on his finger. Yet, she did not mind because they were married legally.
Madelyn could not bring herself to look up. Her hand clutched her fork as she recognized the despair and impending breakdown in Yvonne’s voice. It was like listening to her own past self from five years ago, and now, she had become the ‘other woman’ in someone else’s story. But there was no feeling of triumph-only a desire to escape.
Yvonne seemed like she had been pushed to the brink mentally, almost as if she was on the edge of going insane. After all, no one could accept that their husband-to-be, who was supposed to complete the wedding ceremony with them, had abandoned them to see another woman.
Frida wanted to step forward but was stopped by Zach’s bodyguard. Her eyes were filled with malice as she glared at Zach.
She warned, “Where’s my son? What have you done to him? Give him back to me! If anything happens to him, you’ll have to answer to me.
Perhaps sensing the rising tension, Dalton, who was in the midst of feeding, seemed on the verge of crying. Zach tried to soothe the baby the way Madelyn usually did. Within moments, the tears were held at bay.
“Shush, keep it down. You’ll disturb the baby,” Zach cautioned. Zach handed the baby to Giovanna, a housekeeper he had hired. “Take the baby back to my room,” he ordered.
“Yes, sir,” Giovanna nervously took the baby and quickly retreated upstairs. After witnessing Zach’s ruthlessness, she began to fear him.
Left alone with her uneaten meal, Madelyn lost all appetite, leaving her food to grow cold in the bowl.
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 726
Madelyn was about to stand up and head back to her room when Zach stopped her. “Finish your meal, then you can go upstairs.”
Madelyn sensed Zach’s piercing gaze and did not dare utter a word. She sat back down.
Zach lit a cigarette, leaned back in his chair, and said, “It’s quite audacious of you, Frida Young, to show up here and demand an explanation from me. You had it all planned out, huh? Sending someone out of the country under the radar. Clever move.”
Frida snapped, “If you knew, why wait until today to act? You kidnapped my son and ruined my daughter’s reputation. Zach, you are truly your father’s son-a loyal lapdog. Don’t forget who supported you from behind the scenes. Do you really think you would have reached this position without the Young family?”
Zach flicked his cigarette ash and said, “Supported me? Let’s not kid ourselves. Whether it’s the marriage or the shares that Jardin Corporation gave to YTCorp, it was all just business. You and I both know that. But you should’ve never messed with her. It took me a long time to find her again. If you hide her away from me, next time I won’t be so patient in searching. I must say, taking advantage of today was indeed a good idea.”
Yet, they had all underestimated just how much Madelyn meant to Zach. Despite the gathering of high-profile elites in the capital, Zach had abandoned his own wedding just to apprehend her at the airport. They thought he was a man who knew his priorities, one for whom interests always came first. Their assumptions were far from the truth. Reality had slapped them hard across their faces.
Yvonne, listening to Zach lay bare the facts, suddenly felt her heart sink, as if it had been pricked by countless needles. Yvonne was at a loss for words because she realized that only Madelyn mattered to Zach, and he felt nothing for her.
Frida chuckled coldly and said, “No matter what, Yvonne will always be Mrs. Jardin of Jardin Corporation. Some people are just destined to be third wheels, earning disdain wherever they go, just like that worthless woman. They never end well.”
The meaning behind Frida’s words was clear to everyone in the room.
“A rich man having a mistress isn’t “Frida continued, turning her icy news,” gaze toward Madelyn. “You’re quite crafty. Not only did my son fall into your scheme, but my daughter as well. As long as my daughter is still alive, you can forget about taking her place.”
Those words wounded Madelyn deeply. She could not even lift her head to respond. She might not have had a choice, but that did not change the fact that she was the third wheel.
Zach looked over at Madelyn and pondered, ‘Why’s she so silent now? She was full of fire before.’ Yvonne quickly interjected, “Mom, please stop.”
“Shut up!” Frida snapped, holding back only because they were in public. Her eyes filled with unbridled rage. She turned to Madelyn and said, “How did Alicia give birth to such a worthless daughter?”
Madelyn could no longer bear it as she clenched her fist under the table. She felt a headache building up. She stood up, her face pale, and her steps wobbly. “I’m full,” she said, staggering away.
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 727
All eyes were on Madelyn as she made. her faltering exit. No one had expected her to unravel so swiftly. If it were not for Zach shielding her, she might not have made it out at all.
Zach stubbed out his cigarette in frustration. Only when Madelyn’s silhouette disappeared down the corridor did he rise from his seat. He remarked, “I see you haven’t lost your fire, Frida Young.”
Striding forward, Zach stood before Frida, his dark shadow casting an oppressive pressure over her. “You appear to forget that I’m the one holding all the cards,” he warned. ” Every word that escapes your lips jeopardizes Ethan. If something happens to him, don’t think you can blame me.”
Frida’s eyes narrowed into a glare.” You wouldn’t dare!”
Zach retorted, his eyes as chilling as a predator’s, “Why wouldn’t I? Maybe you’ll find a body at the Young residence doorstep tomorrow. How would that be?” His menacing presence filled the air.
Yvonne looked visibly shaken. “You’re a part of our family now. Would you really side against us for an outsider? Where is your heart?”
Zach paid Yvonne no mind and continued speaking to Frida. “If you want Ethan to stay safe, offer the Arnold residence as a trade. You have three days to consider it. I keep my word. I expect a satisfactory answer from you. If all you have is an apology, it won’t suffice. Otherwise… your son might not live to see another day.”
Frida, who was staggering, was steadied by Yvonne. “Zach, she’s my mom, your mother-in-law! How can you speak to her this way?”
Not even sparing Yvonne a glance, Zach turned and walked away, taking the stairs to his room. The food on the dinner table sat there, untouched and now cold. All that remained in Madelyn’s bowl was a half-eaten serving of risotto.
As Zach entered his room, was startled. “Sir…” Giovanna Surveying the room, Zach noticed Madelyn’s absence. Then his eyes fell on the closed bathroom door. “Go outside.”
Giovanna hesitated but chose to leave quietly, shutting the door behind her. She had been genuinely scared earlier. She had seen Madelyn lose a lot of blood and rush into the bathroom, not coming out since. Respecting Madelyn’s wishes to keep it a secret, Giovanna had not knocked. Zach knocked on the bathroom door, hearing the sound of a shower running. He said, “Open up.”
Inside, Madelyn washed the blood away, turning on the shower to simulate bathing. Ignoring Zach, she closed her eyes, lost in her thoughts that flooded in like a stormy tide.
Minutes later, as the lock on the bathroom door began to turn, Madelyn preemptively opened the door, her face composed as if nothing had happened.
“I was just using the bathroom, no big deal,” Madelyn said calmly, walking past Zach without meeting his eyes.
Madelyn’s emotionless facade, lacking any signs of tears or visible heartbreak, seemed to agitate Zach even more. His eyes landed on an open bottle of pills on the table. Picking it up, he asked, ” You’re still on these? Are you not well?”
With a soft voice, Madelyn replied, No, they’re just vitamin pills. They can be taken anytime. Just put them back in the drawer for me, thank you.”
It was late at night. Dalton had obediently finished his bottle of milk and was already dozing off on the bed.
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 728
Madelyn tied up her long hair and checked on Dalton’s diaper. She lifted her baby into the center of the large bed and settled herself on the edge. With such a big bed, she did not have to worry about accidentally rolling over him, especially since she was a peaceful sleeper.
Zach walked over and sat on the edge of her bed. He asked, “How about I make you some pasta? You could use a bite.”
Madelyn sat up, holding a book, her eyes downcast. She responded without lifting her gaze, “It’s okay. I’m not hungry.”
As Zach reached out a hand toward Madelyn, she leaned back, avoiding his touch. When their eyes met, she quickly averted her gaze. She hastily closed her book, shoved it under her pillow, and said, “Goodnight.”
Madelyn lay down, her back to him, and closed her eyes. Zach tucked her in, looked at her silently, and then went out to the balcony to smoke a few cigarettes.
He pondered, ‘If he really matters to her so much, why’s she acting so indifferent?’
Downstairs, Yvonne was kneeling at the front of the residence, driven by her concern for her mother and Ethan. After the scathing words her mother had spoken to Madelyn, Zach had demanded an apology. Given Frida’s health condition, she could not bear that strain, so Yvonne had to do it.
Yvonne lifted her head, gazing at the still-lit room on the third floor, her heart sinking deeper and deeper. She realized she was no match for Madelyn. Marrying Zach had always been part of his plan, and Yvonne had given up her best years for him, pouring her heart and soul into a marriage that seemed to mean nothing to him.
As night fell, a torrential downpour began. The servants had just finished with their chores and were about to leave. The servants had acknowledged Yvonne as their master’s wife for four years. They had not expected their master to be so ruthless to his own wife for a third wheel.
One maid approached Yvonne holding an umbrella and said, “Ma’am, you should get up. You can’t take it much longer.”
Yvonne shook her head, letting the rain drip from her hair. She said, “I’m fine, you can leave. If he finds out, all this kneeling will have been for nothing.”
“We could plead with Mr. Jardin for you. He must have a soft spot for you after all these years,” the maid suggested.
“There’s no need for that. Just take good care of her,” Yvonne responded, referring to Madelyn.
Since Madelyn’s arrival in the residence, there had not been a single peaceful day for her. Even the smallest tasks around the residence seemed to have grown complicated. Though they paid her lip service, not a single person in the residence actually cared for Madelyn, the outsider woman brought back by Zach.
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 729
Rain hammered against the floor-to- ceiling windows as a sudden clap of thunder exploded in the sky. Instantly, Dalton burst into inconsolable wailing.
Madelyn, who had been deeply asleep, woke up with a start. Zach let out a sigh, his arm that was wrapped around her waist loosened, and he repositioned it behind his head. Madelyn reached over to the nightstand and flipped on the light. She tossed aside the covers and got out of bed. Their room in the Southern Haven Villas was more austere compared to the extravagance they were accustomed to, and the villa itself had seen its fair share of years.
Adjusting her slipping spaghetti straps, Madelyn picked up the crying Dalton and carefully made her way to the kitchen, not wanting to disturb Zach. She murmured, “There, there. It’s okay. Don’t cry, my sweet Dalton.”
For some reason, Dalton was crying even more intensely than usual. Madelyn tried her best to soothe him, but it was futile. She moved to draw the curtains, but her eyes caught sight of a figure kneeling in the rain below. She froze, her hand still gripping the curtain. Dalton’s cries seemed to fade in the background.
Madelyn failed to notice Zach’s presence. She suddenly felt his arms wrapping around her from behind. He was wearing black-striped pajamas. His warm breath brushed her ear as he leaned down to plant a soft kiss on her shoulder. “Let me hold him. Why don’t you get some sleep, hm?”
Madelyn looked down at the figure kneeling in the rain. It was Yvonne, who seemed to have reached her breaking point, collapsing, then struggling back up to her knees. Madelyn asked, “Why’s she down there?”
“Do you feel sorry for her?” Zach murmured. Something shattered in Madelyn’s eyes, perhaps a recollection. She said, She’s the wife you married. Can you really bear to watch her like this and not feel a single shred of pity?”
The scenario was all too familiar, a stormy night with flashes of lightning and peals of thunder. Just like the night when Madelyn had her first and last argument with Zach. A momentary lapse had led her to throw their wedding ring out the window, demanding a divorce to make room for Cecilia. But Zach had thrown Madelyn out of the villa, telling her she could not return until she found the ring. She had knelt outside all night in the rain, while Cecilia was present.
Whatever Zach’s answer might have been, it did not matter anymore. Madelyn left Yvonne to her fate and returned to her bed. Only when the rain finally let up did Dalton finally calm down.
Madelyn held him all night, her sleep restless and fragmented. Early in the morning, as Madelyn was preparing to make some formula, she was met by a group of anxious servants in the hallway. “Ms. Jent, it’s bad. Madam… the lady outside has collapsed,” one said.
“Call an ambulance. Get her to the hospital!” Madelyn ordered.
“We can’t do that without Master’s permission,” a servant responded hesitantly. Madelyn paused, then said, “Fine. Bring her upstairs, change her clothes, and brew her some ginger tea to warm her up. Do we still have cold medicine?”
A maid nodded. “Yes, we do.”
“If her fever doesn’t break, take her to the hospital,” said Madelyn.
“As you wish, Ms. Jent.”
Just then, another person climbed the stairs. “Ms. Samford!”
Cecilia nodded with a subtle smile. ” Good morning.” As Cecilia took the last step and saw Madelyn, her smile widened. “You should dress warmer. You don’t want to catch a cold.”
It was directed at Madelyn.
“Is Zach around? I’m looking for him.” Madelyn asked
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 730
Madelyn gave Cecilia a cold glance as she walked past. Cecilia shrugged it off.
“Yvonne reminds me of how you were in our past life. Both pitiful and laughable. Now you’ve taken my place. Feels good being on top, right? Seeing Yvonne kneel in the rain all night must be a familiar sight.” Cecilia’s tone was a mix of mockery and curiosity.
She thought Madelyn had returned from a past life, given how close she and Zach had become. In the past, Madelyn had pleaded with Cecilia just for a chance to be near Zach, and Cecilia still remembered it all.
Madelyn responded coldly, “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
As Cecilia watched Madelyn walk away, her lips curling into a smirk. ‘Madelyn, I hope you’re smarter this time around,’ she mused. When Cecilia opened the door, Zach was still on the bed. “I need to talk to you, Zach.”
Sitting up, Zach fixed his pajama buttons. “Out.”
Cecilia raised an eyebrow. “Can’t I come in?”
He gave her a stern look. “Didn’t I make myself clear? Wait outside.”
She hesitated for a moment and then replied, “I’ll wait outside.”
In the kitchen, as Madelyn cooked, Giovanna approached her. “Ms. Jent, I found him. He’s in one of the maid rooms, but he’s fine. A doctor’s with him, so no worries.”
With the other maids preoccupied, Madelyn asked, “Has he been given food and medicine?”
Giovanna shook her head. “He hasn’t eaten anything. If he doesn’t eat or drink soon, he could get even sicker. Thankfully, his injury isn’t severe.”
“Can you see him?” Madelyn asked. Giovanna thought briefly. “I think I can get into the room. What do you want me to do?”
“I’ll make some cream soup. Could you take it to him and make sure he eats?”
Giovanna nodded. “Of course.”
While the maids were busy preparing a hangover remedy for Yvonne, Madelyn prepared a bottle of milk to take to Dalton upstairs. She then rummaged through the fridge, gathering ingredients to make pumpkin cream soup. As she reached for a knife, dizziness washed over her, and her surroundings became blurry. Taking a deep breath, she fought to stay conscious.
While Madelyn busied herself in the kitchen, none of the other maids offered assistance, each preoccupied with their own tasks. By the time Zach and Cecilia wrapped up their discussion upstairs, Madelyn had stewed the pumpkin cream soup for an hour. She filled a container with the hot cream soup. In order not to arouse suspicion, Madelyn had made extra, leaving half of it still in the pot.
Zach and Cecilia descended the stairs, discussing their business. “Handle the business dealings with the Young family as you think best. If anyone asks, make sure everyone at the company tells the same story,” Zach instructed.
This partnership was helping Jardin Corporation gain an advantage over YTCorp.
“When have I ever disappointed you?” Cecilia smirked. “Return to the office. Call me if there’s an issue.”
“Will do.”
The voice was loud enough for Madelyn to hear. Madelyn, sensing their approach, quickly concealed the container in a cabinet, but Zach noticed her swift action.
