The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning By Max Charming chapter 492
Ethan’s decision to have Donna arrested happened quickly. Donna put up a big fight as the police took her away, screaming and struggling with the officers. But despite her efforts, Donna couldn’t escape. They handcuffed her and took her straight to the police station. Leyton got back to Ethan within an hour.
Arnold Corporation soon released an official statement: [Regarding Donna Jolie’s statements in today’s live broadcast, our investigation has confirmed them to be untrue. We ask everyone to be cautious.
Any further attempts to spread false information about Arnold Corporation will face legal action, and those responsible will be held accountable for any harm caused to the company. Legal steps have already been taken in response to today’s false claims against Arnold Corporation’s CEO.]
The statement also announced the engagement of Ethan Arnold, the CEO of Arnold Corporation, to Madelyn Jent, the daughter of the Jent family. Their engagement party was set for June 12th at the Supreme World.
This official statement calmed things down quickly, and people had various reactions. Some folks were suspicious, thinking there might be more to the story.
Madelyn spent the whole day in the school art studio. She was the last to hear about the news and didn’t expect so much to happen on this particular day.
In the car, Ethan asked her, “What do you want to eat tonight? Should we go to ‘The Deli’ or have some Jonirian food?”
“Let’s eat at home. I need to study tonight,” Madelyn replied. Ethan noticed Madelyn’s low spirits and reached over to pull her closer. He ran his fingers through her hair and, with a slight tilt of his head and a faint smile, asked, “What’s wrong? Not feeling happy?”
Madelyn gazed out of the car window without looking at him. “I saw that statement. Why don’t you tell the truth?
“Just for that?” Ethan smiled faintly, his true feelings hidden deep in his eyes. He said, “To avoid unnecessary trouble. Those things are in the past, and there’s no point in bringing them up again. Plus, I don’t want it to affect your mood, especially with exams coming up. Focus on your studies for the next two months. Whether you pass or not, I respect your choice.”
Madelyn asked, “Just because of that?” ‘He could clear up everything about Donna with just one sentence. How can he act like nothing happened?’ This version of Ethan suddenly felt like a stranger to her.
Ethan gently brushed his finger against her nose. “What else could it be?” He took a deep breath, thinking. “Don’t overthink it, okay?”
“If you want to go home, let’s go home. Besides, I’ve recently learned a few new dishes. I can make something for you to try,” Madelyn said, her earlier concerns replaced by curiosity.
“When did you learn to cook?” she asked. “It’s been a while,” Ethan replied. “Is there anything specific you’d like to eat?”
“I’m good with anything. I’ll help you later,” Madelyn offered. Ethan smiled and nodded, “Alright.”
Back at the Arnold residence, they both got to work on preparing dinner. Ethan was wearing a cute lace apron, a far cry from his usual appearance.
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning By Max Charming chapter 493
Ethan had cooked a few dishes, just enough for the two of them. “Have a taste of this,” Ethan said, handing Madelyn a piece of honey- flavored pork rib. Madelyn took a bite and exclaimed, ‘ Yummy!”
“Yeah, I made all your favorites,” he replied with a smile. In her mind, Madelyn thought, ‘I’ve had his cooking before, but it’s always delicious.’
After dinner, Madelyn went to Ethan’s study. He was working on important stuff for his company, and she quietly focused on her practice papers. Even though she wasn’t going to regular classes, she had her own study plan. The current class progress didn’t matter much to Madelyn. She had a goal to boost her grades in just two months, and it was proving to be a bit tough.
But because she already had a good foundation in her subjects, it wouldn’t be too hard, just a little challenging.
Ethan had his headphones on, listening to Leyton’s report. “Mr. Arnold, about the dress for the engagement, should we arrange for the designer to meet with Miss Jent this weekend for her to choose? We also need to plan the makeup photoshoot. I’ve organized your weekend schedule around your recent work to make sure it doesn’t disrupt progress.”
“Okay, got it,” Ethan replied. Madelyn sat on a comfy blanket, finishing up some practice papers and grading them herself. When she checked the time, it was already half- past ten. She stood up, neatly putting her books on the table.
“Done with your practice papers?” Ethan asked, taking off his headphones and coming over to her. “Um, it’s really late now. Let’s finish this tomorrow. I’m going back to my room to get some sleep,” Madelyn suggested.
“No hurry,” Ethan, in his dark shirt with a couple of buttons undone, guided her to the couch. The bright light from the study made the room feel a bit mysterious. Madelyn felt his warm breath on her neck, and it tickled a little.
His Adam’s apple moved sensually as he leaned in closer, making her heart race a bit.
The light made his features stand out, making him look even more handsome and captivating. It seemed like there was a fire burning in his eyes, a warm and inviting heat trying to wrap around her, to melt her heart.
Madelyn’s palms got sweaty, and she tightly held onto her skirt. Being this close, she could see the pores on his face. Her heart felt like it might jump out of her chest, so she squeezed her eyes shut. In that moment, Madelyn’s mind went completely blank. There wasn’t a single thought in her head.
Even though they had been together for a long time, their physical closeness had been limited to holding hands and hugging. Their kisses had always been quick and cautious.
For some reason, Madelyn’s instincts told her to push him away. But she fought that urge. Even if she resisted tonight, she knew she couldn’t avoid it forever. Half a minute passed, and it felt like an eternity to Madelyn.
Ethan’s lips brushed gently against her neck as his deep voice whispered, “Can we…?”
Madelyn’s eyes instantly widened as she understood what Ethan was asking. “W-Wait a moment,” Madelyn stammered, feeling flustered. Ethan’s movements also halted. “Why? ” he asked.
Madelyn gathered her courage, trying to stay composed. “We’re just dating, and my father… he wouldn’t approve of this. Can we wait a little longer?”
Ethan’s breathing became uneven, and he held back his impatience, gently resting his forehead against hers. Alright. We’ve waited this long. Just a little more… for the last sixty- something days. I’ll go to my room tonight.”
Madelyn swallowed hard. “Okay, get some rest. I need to sleep too; I have classes tomorrow.”
“Give me a kiss before you go.”
Madelyn quickly planted a kiss on his cheek. “Goodnight.” She grabbed her backpack and hurried out of the study without looking back.
Madelyn rushed to her room, closed the door tightly, leaned against it, and breathed heavily. She wiped her neck, recalling the intense moment just minutes ago. ‘Why did I resist Ethan’s touch? Maybe I still can’t get past what’s in my heart…
Madelyn placed her backpack down, took a quick shower, lay in bed, turned off the light, and stared at the ceiling. Her thoughts were all jumbled up.
“Do you not like him?” Madelyn looked toward the figure sitting on her bed. “Mom, you’re here again.”
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning By Max Charming chapter 494
“I say I’ll always be by your side forever. If you don’t like him, you shouldn’t force yourself.”
Madelyn sat up, “I think I do like him, but it’s just taking me some time to get used to it. I… I don’t know. What about you? Do you like him?”
“It’s your choice. As long as you like him, I will accept him.” “I don’t even know if this is the right thing to do. What about you… did you like Father? How did you get together in the first place?”
In an instant, the figure by the bed didn’t answer and disappeared. The next morning, the first rays of light broke through.
These past few days had been calm, without a single ripple. However, the calmer it was, the harder it was for Madelyn to find peace of mind.
This weekend, Madelyn had hoped to sleep in, but the commotion of a servant knocking at her door disturbed her.
“Miss Jent, it’s time to wake up. Mr. Arnold is waiting for you downstairs.” “Alright,” Madelyn mumbled groggily, then quickly turned over and went back to sleep.
The servant went downstairs. After waiting for more than ten minutes, and with no sign of Madelyn coming down, Ethan glanced at his wristwatch. In the hallway, photographers and designers had all gathered.
A woman in her thirties, dressed professionally, approached. “Miss Jent still hasn’t woken up? Mr. Arnold, should we start without her?”
Ethan slid his legs off the coffee table. ”
Hmm, go ahead.” Seeing Ethan heading upstairs, the photographer hurried to follow. Ethan reached for the doorknob, but it was locked. He raised his hand and knocked on the door. “Madelyn…”
Madelyn covered her ears, groaning,” 11 Ethan… it’s the weekend today. Can’t I sleep for another half-hour?”
Normally, her internal alarm clock went off around eight-thirty, and it was just a little past seven. Madelyn really didn’t want to get up just yet.
“My grandmother is downstairs and wants to see you.” ‘Mrs. Arnold Sr.?!’ With that single word, Madelyn’s brain kicked into high gear, and she instantly woke up.
The next moment, she was barefoot, stepping on the wooden floor as she rushed toward the door. Upon opening the door, she saw a camera outside and immediately shut it. “Wh-What’s going on?”
“A surprise.”
‘A surprise?’ Madelyn felt more shocked than surprised. “Are you going to talk to me with the door closed?” Pausing for a moment, Madelyn slowly opened the door just a crack, revealing her sleepy face. “You can come in, but he can’t.”
The photographer remained silent, while Ethan, with a doting look in his eyes, said, “Alright, we won’t let him in. The cameraman nodded.
After Ethan entered the room, Madelyn closed the door behind him. She ran her fingers through her hair, dressed in loose pajamas with a collar that hung loosely, exposing one shoulder. Her hair was slightly tousled, but the overall appearance gave off a certain charm. “Why are there cameras today? Are we shooting something?”
Ethan gently straightened her hair. “Go freshen up, and you’ll find out when you come downstairs.”
“Okay.” Madelyn, still half-asleep, made her way to the bathroom. Her phone, conveniently placed on the bedside table, started ringing. It displayed an unknown number from Sinagora, instantly giving her a sense of unease.
In front of Ethan, she answered the call, her voice hesitant, “I-Is this Father?”
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning By Max Charming chapter 495
“Remember I’m your father? But for something as big as your engagement, you didn’t even call me?” Hayson asked.
Madelyn felt all mixed up. Her father had never talked to her much, and in the past year, he had only called a few times. Usually, Zach took care of things when there were problems. ‘He must be calling now just to look like a good father in front of Ethan.’
She said quickly, “I’m sorry, Father. I was gonna tell everyone in a few days. How are you and Jasmine?” “We’re good. But you shouldn’t hide your engagement from me. We’ll talk more when I’m back.”
“I…” Madelyn’s heart raced, and she looked at Ethan for help. Ethan reached for her phone and smiled, “I’ve got this. You go freshen up.”
Madelyn nodded without saying anything and handed her phone to Ethan. Then, she rushed into the bathroom like it was a race.
She splashed her face with cold water to wake herself up completely. At first, she thought Ethan was just making a casual remark about the engagement. In the last few days, she didn’t really think much about it. But now, being serious. he was
After she finished her morning routine, Madelyn went to her big closet to change. The bathroom and bedroom were separate, and when she opened the glass door, she stepped into a big room filled with her clothes, shoes, bags, and jewelry.
Ethan had taken care of everything, from what she wore to even her socks. Everything was specially made and you couldn’t find it anywhere else.
Madelyn put on a light dress made of knitted linen, braided her hair, and let it hang over one shoulder. When she came out, Ethan had just finished the call. “Yep… I’ll make sure Madelyn’s fine, don’t worry, Hayson.”
Hearing that, she thought, ‘Did he call my father by his first name? He changed so fast?’ When Ethan saw her, he couldn’t take his eyes off her. He reached out, and Madelyn walked over to him. He gave her a one-armed hug and rested his head on her shoulder. “What… What did my father say?”
“We talked about the wedding plans. They’re coming back today, and it’s a good time for both families to have a meal together.”
“So soon? But I’m not ready yet.” Madelyn gently moved away, but Ethan held her waist.
“Ready for what? Ready to be Mrs. Arnold or ready for this engagement thing? Madelyn… you agreed to this, right?”
Madelyn covered her face with her hands. “I thought we could at least wait until after my exams.” Ethan nodded and hugged her lovingly once more. “It won’t mess up your exams, just like before. You don’t have to do anything. Just stick by my side.” He added in his mind, ‘… and be a good girl.’
Madelyn didn’t say anything else. She let Ethan lead her away, with a photographer following, snapping pictures of this sweet couple about to get engaged.
When they reached the downstairs area, Madelyn was surprised by what she saw. In the big living room, there were all sorts of dresses and jewelry on display, and more than a dozen people. A lady in a black suit and a pencil skirt approached with a smile. “Mr. Arnold, you can leave Miss Jent to us now.”
Madelyn looked at Ethan, unsure.
Ethan said, “Go ahead.”
“What’s happening?” Madelyn was whisked away before she could figure it out. Ethan went to the sofa, picked up a newspaper, and sipped his coffee.
Madelyn was taken to a room downstairs and made to sit. Her neatly braided hair was unraveled, and four or five makeup artists started working on her.
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning By Max Charming chapter 496
The makeup artist asked, “Miss Jent, do you have any specific makeup you want?” “Makeup?” Madelyn looked surprised.
“Yeah, it’s for your engagement. We’re trying out your makeup look.”
“I see.” Madelyn looked down, lost in thought. The makeup artist explained, “So, we’re going to try out your whole look, including your hairstyle, for your engagement. If you don’t like something, we can change it.”
“Okay.” Madelyn’s skin was already flawless, so she didn’t need much foundation. Her soft features and creamy skin had a special charm. She had a natural beauty that could wow anyone, like a beautiful rose, both attractive and elegant. Her body, style, and clothes made her stand out easily. It was clear that as she got older, she would make a lot of guys go wild.
It took two whole hours for styling and makeup, and by the end, Madelyn was almost falling asleep. “Miss Jent, you can take a look now. Do you like it?”
“It’s alright. What do you all think?”
Both the stylists and makeup artists stared at Madelyn in amazement. The Arnolds were all about tradition, and Ethan had personally chosen her outfit – a white dress covered in glass beads, a pearl hair accessory. Her long hair
had been styled into beautiful wavy curls that flowed down her back. Her every move and smile were enchanting. In the world of showbiz in Venturia, no star could match her beauty. If she ever went into entertainment, she’d definitely be a top celebrity.
“You look stunning! Miss Jent, I’ve worked with lots of famous people and models, but none have amazed me as much as you. You should show Mr. Arnold; he’ll love it for sure.”
Madelyn had never really thought of herself as super pretty. When she walked out, she saw Ethan talking to Evelyn and George. When they noticed her coming, the room got quiet, and everyone stared at her.
Ethan’s eyes lit up with amazement. Evelyn looked at them and teased, 11 Yep, not bad at all. My grandson’s got good taste.” Madelyn smiled and said, “Thanks, Evelyn.”
Ethan didn’t hide how much he liked it. He held her hand and kissed it. “No matter how you look in the future, I’ll always love you.” Hearing that in front of so many people, Madelyn’s cheeks got warm, and she looked down shyly.
Evelyn said, “I think this dress is really nice. Let’s go with it and not make a big deal out of it. Madelyn doesn’t get many weekends off. I’ll host a dinner tonight and invite our future in-laws to talk about the wedding plans.”
“What do you think, Madelyn?” Ethan asked. Madelyn nodded and said, “Sounds good.”
After Evelyn left, the dress designer measured Madelyn’s sizes again and helped her change into a different dress. When she went over to Ethan, the wedding company manager and Ethan were looking through catalogs.
“These are all the newest designs from our bridal designers, not even out yet. Normally, making a wedding dress takes longer. If you’re in a hurry, Mr. Arnold, you can take Miss Jent to our company to pick one in person.”
Ethan looked up, holding Madelyn’s hand. “Let’s see if there’s something you like.”
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 497
“Don’t you think it’s too early for wedding dress shopping, Ethan? We’re not even engaged yet,” Madelyn asked.
Ethan replied gently, “Nah, it’s never too early for that. Getting engaged and married is just a matter of time.”
The manager noticed something was up between them and gave a friendly smile. “Miss Jent has a point. She’s still growing. If we order the dress now, it might not fit later, and that wouldn’t be good for the big day. How about we wait until you set a wedding date before we go dress shopping?”
Ethan ran his thumb along the back of Madelyn’s hand, thought for a moment, and said, “That sounds like a plan. Let’s wait for your father to get here today, finalize the wedding details, and then we can go find that perfect dress.”
Madelyn beamed, “Sounds good to me! Meanwhile, Kevin knocked on the door and walked into Mr. Zach Jardin’s office at Azure Corporation. “Mr. Jardin, there are some papers that need your signature for the construction costs.”
Zach glanced at the documents and signed them without looking up. Kevin continued, “Mr. Jent is coming back today, just as you instructed. Everything in the Jent residence is set. We’ve hired eight new servants, including a nutritionist, to take care of Mrs. Jent’s needs. I’ve got all their profiles here.”
Zach replied without lifting his head, ” You don’t need to show me those.”
“Could you run me through my schedule?”
“Sure thing. In two hours, you’ve got a meeting about that new project in Alma. Then, at around six tonight, there’s a dinner with our partners in the development project, and the guest of honor is Mr. Webster from Wave Corp.
“As for the Regal Corporation issue, well, Randall Burton, who used to own most of their shares, passed away. His funeral was yesterday, and his shares have been transferred to your other identity. Right now, Regal Corporation doesn’t have a leader. According to our investigation, Randall’s sister, Wincy Burton, who has an MBA, has come back from Australia to take charge temporarily.
“Before Randall passed and his shares were transferred, it seems Wincy became suspicious of something. She’s looking into the cause of her brother’s death and…about your identity.”
Just then, Kevin’s phone buzzed with a message alert. He checked it, and his expression changed a bit. “Mr. Jardin, the new CEO of Regal Corporation,
Wincy Burton, wants to meet with you.”
“Wincy Burton?” Zach put down his pen, drummed his fingers on the desk, and leaned back in his chair. “What do we know about her?”
“Here’s her file.”
Zach, sporting gold-rimmed glasses and black shirt sleeves rolled up to reveal his muscular arms with prominent veins, casually flipped open a page with a photo on it. His gaze grew more intense as he studied it.
Kevin filled in the details, “Randall might have had a shady reputation, but he was always good to his sister.
They’ve been there for each other since their parents passed away when they were young. Considering her brother’s death, Wincy Burton is not likely to let it slide easily.”
Suddenly, the receptionist’s voice came, “I’m sorry, Miss Burton, but without an appointment, you can’t go in. Mr. Jardin isn’t in his office.”
“Move out of my way.” With a swift motion, the office door swung open with a loud crash. A tall woman dressed in flowing chiffon clothes and sporting sunglasses entered the room.
The security guard, clearly shaken, stammered, “I’m sorry, Mr. Jardin. I couldn’t stop her.”
Zach waved his hand dismissively. “No worries. You can go.”
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 498
Wincy Burton came over and slammed her hands on Zach’s desk. She was really bold. “Zach Jardin, twenty-six years old, godson adopted by Hayson Jent.
“You sponsored a pretty student from a music academy, and she somehow died at a ski resort last year after an argument with you.
“Two months ago, you handed over Alma’s development rights to my brother. You also made a deal with Regal Corporation for Alma’s development, but it’s only supposed to last three months. Oddly enough, my brother ended up in jail, and the day before you visited him, he died mysteriously in there.”
Kevin didn’t look happy. “Miss Burton, please mind your words. This is a workplace. If you keep causing a scene, we can call the police.”
Wincy grinned. “Sure, call them! Let the cops investigate my brother’s case properly. He was perfectly fine, so why was he arrested and then suddenly died?”
Zach put down his papers and told Kevin, “Please leave.”
Kevin nodded and left, closing the door behind him. Zach stood up and said, “You’ve done your homework. Go on.” Wincy saw the file and raised her voice. “You investigated me? How dare you!”
“I need to know who I am dealing with, right?” Zach took out a pack of cigarettes and lit one. “Did you come here just to grill me about this?”
“So you’re admitting it. My brother’s death is your doing?” Wincy’s gaze pierced through her sunglasses as she kept pressing on. She had been studying him since she walked in, realizing that Zach wasn’t just dangerous but far from simple, despite his good looks.
A cloud of smoke surrounded him as he smoked, the smell drifting away in the breeze. “I’m sorry about what happened to Randall. It’s tragic. But considering our partnership with Regal Corporation, I can only suggest that continuing to investigate won’t help you.”
“Zach Jardin,” she said, “What do you mean? You’re obviously a murderer, and you’re trying to act innocent.”
“Before you start calling me a murderer, use your head. Where’s the proof? Do you really think people will just believe your words? If you’re genuinely suspicious about Randall’s death, instead of hanging around here, why not focus on running Regal Corporation? What do you say, Miss Burton?”
“Alright… I won’t suspect you. Now, tell me, what were you doing when you went to see my brother before he died? Why did he die the next day?” Wincy took off her sunglasses, her voice frosty as she questioned him.
Zach replied, “No comment.”
Wincy smirked and casually walked over to his desk, taking a seat and crossing her legs. “Fine, if you won’t talk, I’ll just keep you company here today.”
Zach turned to her, his gaze holding a dangerous, icy intensity, a cold smirk forming on his face that sent chills down one’s spine.
Wincy noticed a framed photo on his desk and was briefly surprised. The face in the picture bore a resemblance to hers. She teased him, “Is this another one of your secret lovers?”
Zach caught her eyeing the photo, moved closer, and covered it. “You’re quite sharp, Miss Burton. It’s better to wear sunglasses during the recovery period to keep dust out of your eyes and prevent infections. Otherwise… that lovely face might get harmed.” There was a subtle and nearly imperceptible shift in his expression.
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 499
To Wincy’s surprise, Zach seemed to figure her out with just one look. She had gotten a bit of plastic surgery to change her face, but it was kinda weird that she still looked kinda like the
person in that picture. She had done some stuff to her eyes recently, which were a little puffy, but one had to really stare to notice.
Trying not to look too nervous, Wincy crossed her arms and acted cool. “Do we know each other?” She spotted some papers with her pictures on his desk and couldn’t help but ask, “How much do you know about me?”
But before Zach could say anything, she grabbed the file folder and spilled the pictures and documents out.
When she saw those photos, Wincy froze. They were all pictures of her from way back, even before she changed her face, from when she was in elementary school to her college days. Her hands were shaking like crazy. “Wh -Where did you get these? How did you find my old pictures?”
“I told you, when you’re checking out someone like me, I gotta know who you are too. It’s just being careful, and besides, finding info about a smart international student like you isn’t hard.” Zach stayed cool, checking his watch. “So, how much longer are we gonna do this? My time’s precious, and I can’t waste it here with you.”
Wincy slammed the table and stood up. “Then tell me the truth. I know him well; he might hang out with the wrong crowd, but he’d never hurt someone for no reason. Ending up in jail like this… is this all part of your plan?”
Zach was running out of patience. You’ve got two minutes to decide. Leave on your own, or I’ll have someone take you out.”
He added, “You’ve barely been back in the country, and here you are, questioning me without knowing the whole story. Making this situation worse won’t help anyone. Think it through and figure things out for yourself.”
Zach’s words got interrupted by his ringing phone. He glanced at the caller ID, then turned and strolled over to a big window. His face softened a bit as he answered, “Madelyn… Is there something you need?”
Madelyn, on the other end of line, looked at Ethan, who was next to her, and talked slowly, “Tonight, can you and Father come over? We should have dinner and talk about the engagement plans. I know it’s a bit of trouble for you. “She sounded deliberate, but you could tell she was tense.
Zach gave a small smile. “Of course, be there on time.” וויד “Great, I’ll be waiting.”
With that, he hung up after just a few short words. Zach’s expression was hard to read, but for a moment, his gaze showed some serious intensity. Suddenly, the room felt colder.
After Zach ended the call, Wincy came up to him, looking determined. She had a little mole under her eye, something Madelyn didn’t have, making her even more alluring. “…I’m definitely gonna dig deeper into this. Whether it was my brother’s fault or not, you’re under a big suspicion. Don’t give me any reason to catch you.”
Without looking at her, Zach turned and called out, “Kevin.”
Kevin walked in through the door. ”
Yes, Mr. Jardin.”
“Tell all the departments the meeting’s rescheduled, it will start in ten minutes.
“Understood.” Kevin glanced at Wincy, a moment of confusion crossing his face. ‘Why does she look so much like Miss. Jent? Could it be… plastic surgery?’
“Anything else, Miss Burton?” Kevin asked.
Wincy stared at Zach for a moment, realizing what she had done. She walked up to the desk and picked up the photos. “I’ll take these with me for now. And in the future… you’re not allowed to investigate me. Otherwise, I have every right to accuse you of invading my personal privacy.”
With that said, Wincy, in her high- heeled shoes, put her sunglasses back on and left the office.
Kevin questioned, “Mr. Jardin, are you just going to let her make a scene in the company like this? If she finds out about Randall’s situation, it could spell trouble. Plus… it might not be good for your other identity if it gets exposed.”
Zach replied calmly, “I’ve got it handled. Let’s head to the meeting.”
Kevin added, “I got a call from Ms. Jolie. She wants out of prison and asked for our help. She also wants us to sabotage Ethan and Madelyn’s engagement.”
Zach didn’t show any mercy in his response, “Let her stay where she is. She brought this on herself by acting recklessly. This is the consequence of not following instructions.”
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 500
Leaving his office, Zach and Kevin headed to the meeting room. Around six-thirty in the evening, Madelyn didn’t wear fancy clothes. She wore a matching outfit with Ethan, which he had picked out for them.
When Hayson and Jasmine arrived, Jasmine kindly held Madelyn’s hand and they walked into the hall, saying, ” I can’t believe you’re getting engaged so soon. I don’t have anything special to give you. If you don’t mind, take this bracelet. I bought it just for you.”
“Thank you, Jasmine,” Madelyn replied, not wanting to say no, though she still felt a bit uneasy about it.
Jasmine put the bracelet on Madelyn’s wrist. It was see-through and fancy, definitely expensive. The bracelet was clear and translucent. It was undoubtedly expensive.
In her mind, Madelyn thought, ‘Father must’ve bought it for Jasmine. Now that she’s carrying the Jent family heir, Father’s spoiling her, and she can buy anything she wants.’
Jasmine was wearing a tight dark green dress today, looking very classy. Her baby bump was easy to see.
Hayson and Ethan went into the study, and Madelyn couldn’t hear what they were talking about. When they came out, it was time for the banquet.
Hayson laughed heartily from upstairs, “Hahaha… Ethan, I trust Madelyn with you completely. I’ve spoiled her since she was little. If she ever acts like a child, I’ll leave it to you to take care of her.”
“Sure thing, Hayson.”
The two on the couch got up, and Madelyn walked over to Ethan. “Is everything ready?”
Ethan took Madelyn’s hand and nodded. “Yep.”
“What did you guys chat about?”
Ethan leaned in and whispered in her ear, “I’ll fill you in tonight.” Jasmine teased, “Oh, whispering secrets now, are we? Is there something you’re hiding from us?”
Madelyn blushed at just one word. “We didn’t talk about anything.” Ethan added, “Let’s take our seats. “George, where’s Evelyn?” Madelyn asked.
George replied, “She’s on her way, should be here soon.” This time, Hayson took the head seat at the table, with Madelyn and Ethan on the left, and Jasmine on the right.
Jasmine asked, “Oh, Hayson, what about Zach? Has he arrived yet?” Hayson replied, “He should be here soon. There might be some traffic.”
As Zach’s name came up, Ethan’s gaze shifted toward Madelyn, his eyes filled with uncertainty. Under the table, his hand gently squeezed Madelyn’s. “No need to be too nervous.
Madelyn mustered a smile. “I’m not.” She returned the squeeze, her palm feeling a bit sweaty. Just as she finished speaking, a commotion outside caught their attention, and a black Audi pulled up to the entrance.
A servant hurried forward to open the car door, and Zach and Jadie stepped out.
