By the evening, Nadia returned excitedly, announcing with a smug smile, “Guess what? I got it done without troubling Ms. Turin! They were all very cooperative and were ready to bail even if it meant losing money!”

In reality, that was far from the truth as Nadia had to pay those companies out of her own pocket.

She lied because she did not want Frank to feel burdened or that he owed her. She understood that owing occurred for blossoming love, but that also meant a guilty conscience.
