Chapter 6268
It would take Balin at least five days to rush back to Frozen Mirren Palace.
More than an hour later, the second transport fleet of the American army reached the halfway point on their journey back.
In this airborne deployment, there were no individual soldiers; the fleet consisted solely of M1128 infantry fighting vehicles, M142 self-propelled rocket launchers, and accompanying reconnaissance vehicles.
The M1128 infantry fighting vehicle is equipped with heavy machine guns, grenade launchers, and even 105mm tank guns, forming a powerful firepower network with far and near coverage alongside the M142. Additionally, the reconnaissance vehicle features high-power, high-precision radar that can detect mobile targets, including individual ones, from dozens of kilometers away, providing support for the M1128 and M142 in precision strikes.
Once these vehicles landed safely, they immediately took cover behind a hill. Simultaneously, the radar systems were activated to their full capacity, awaiting the appearance of the Japanese scientific expedition team’s snow convoy.
Members of the Japanese surrender group, including Goro Watanabe, were unable to land at McMurdo Station due to the plane they boarded not landing at that time. Instead, after airborne deployment, they proceeded to a midway point to wait for the second echelon of aircraft.
When the second echelon of planes arrived, their aircraft landed on the Antarctic ice cap, allowing Watanabe Goro and the other members of the surrender group to disembark there.
