Nevertheless, Charlie wouldn’t mind having them join his cause. More than 200 warriors would be a valuable addition to his ranks, especially those with five stars or above, who could boost his power significantly. So, Charlie welcomed the idea of Mystic Harmony Sect joining forces with him. With their combined strength, his power scale would undoubtedly soar to new heights. However, there was a snag in Charlie’s plan. Serena’s intention of bringing Mystic Harmony Sect into his fold was not to pledge their wholehearted allegiance to him. Rather, she sought to leverage their obedience and labor to obtain an equal, or even better, exchange. Their ultimate goal was to enhance their martial arts prowess. With this in mind, Charlie knew that even if Mystic Harmony Sect joined forces with him, they might not prove to be particularly useful. In terms of loyalty, they were far inferior to the Dragon Temple and the Elms family, who had both pledged their unwavering support to him. Mystic Harmony Sect had a long way to go to earn such devotion. After pondering for a moment, Charlie turned to Serena and spoke, “Miss Gray, your Master has agreed to work for me. From tomorrow onwards, he’ll be teaching at the Elys-Champ Hot Spring. Given the circumstances, he may not be suitable to lead Mystic Harmony Sect.”
Serena was quick to speak up, “Mr. Wade, I can take over as the head of Mystic Harmony Sect. Please give us a chance!” Charlie nodded thoughtfully and replied, “It’s not impossible for Mystic Harmony Sect to operate under my guidance.” Serena’s eyes lit up with excitement at the prospect. But Charlie diverted the conversation back to a more serious tone “However, not for the time being.” Curious, Serena asked, “Mr. Wade, what are your concerns?” Charlie responded candidly, “I only know you and your Master. I don’t know much about Mystic Harmony Sect and it wouldn’t make practical sense to have them join my sect.” Serena’s expression fell and Charlie was quick to console her “But don’t be disappointed. There’s an old Chinese saying that goes ‘if you come, you will be safe.’ Moving an entire family is not an easy feat, especially since you’ve come all the way from miles away to Aurous Hill. It’ll take some time to adjust. If you really want Mystic Harmony Sect to join my ranks, why not help your Master settle the whole sect and let them acclimate to the environment of Aurous Hill first.” Serena let out a sigh, her lips pursed together as she gave a slight nod. Charlie’s response was somewhat unexpected. He didn’t completely reject her, which was a rare occurrence. Had he done so and if Master Vail refused to step in, Serena would have been left to fend for herself. Feeling relieved, Serena spoke respectfully, “Mr. Wade, I understand your concerns. Don’t worry, I’ll do my best to ease the minds of the Mystic Harmony Sect disciples and help them adapt to life in Aurous Hill as quickly as possible.”
