“I know exactly what kind of person you are,” Yang Governor said with a cold sneer, her eyes locked onto James. “Too proud to ever bend. Too used to getting your way.”
Her tone turned sharper, more cutting. “You’ve been spoiled—completely spoiled—by those brainless women around you. Maybe it’s your face. Something about you makes every woman lose her mind.”
She took a slow step forward, her gaze filled with disdain. “Zella, Xezal… even Yemima, the pride of the Dalibor clan. And Lyla—the so-called most beautiful guardian of the strongest sect. They all revolve around you, doing whatever you want without question.”
A mocking smile spread across her face. “That’s your problem. You think everything can be solved as long as you show up. No consequences. No emotional debt. Just keep playing the part of the devoted lover while pretending you’re above it all.”
Her voice dropped, laced with provocation. “So why don’t you try that little act on me?”
She stepped back, spreading her arms as if inviting a performance. “Or better yet—use your favorite trick. Soul searching. Mind reading. Isn’t that what you’re good at?”
James didn’t respond. He simply watched her, his expression unreadable.
