Facing Lord Goyo’s gloating expression, James pressed his lips into a thin smile.
“Are you testing my patience?”
Lord Goyo burst out laughing. “God is omnipresent and omnipotent—he is the God of all gods. If that’s really him, what exactly do you plan to do?”
“Kill,” James replied without hesitation.
“You—!” Lord Goyo jabbed a finger at him and sneered. “You like to think of yourself as righteous, compassionate, and chivalrous. But in truth, you’re far more ruthless than any of us imagined.”
James ignored the jab and shifted the topic. “Among the five great Path Emperors, Yiulia, Stavros, Cosimeon—even Xanthakos—they all have life spirits. What about yours?”
The question stunned Lord Goyo. His expression faltered, and he lowered his head as if caught off guard.
“Don’t tell me you don’t have one.” James stared directly at him. “If you’re here offering gifts, you clearly want something. While I’m still willing to drink with you, you might as well speak plainly.”
