“This is a game, waste of ink,” the Black Throne replied smoothly. “You’re not here for business. You’re here for my amusement.”

“Congratulations on reaching the third stage. You realized the trick and earned the right to meet me.”

“Third stage?” Jorl echoed.

“Yes. Stage one was being brave enough to enter. Stage two was being clever enough to realize you were being toyed with.”

A low, mocking chuckle rolled through the chamber.
