“My grasp of Void Magic is basic at best,” Ajatar said, “but thanks to the Dragon Eyes, I could tell exactly how spectacularly Lith failed.”

“Wait—what?” Morok tried and failed to access the Infirmary’s data with his low clearance level. “Why does he have a headache from Dragon Eyes? That’s not normal.

“It never happened to any Dragon before. Not even to Master Ajatar during his earlier experiments.”

“Calm down, child.” The concern in Morok’s voice clearly moved the former Drake. “You’ve never met a real Dragon, so you don’t know what you’re talking about. And remember—my condition is anything but normal.

“As a quasi-Dragon, I had a strong, healthy body. Now I’m exhausted. Back then, I’d thoroughly studied my transformation process and life force, so Dragon Eyes worked like a charm.

“I know very little about Void Magic, and in my current state, my Dragon Eyes probably aren’t fit to solve any mystery. I’m tired, child. More than you can imagine. But I’m fine.”

“Then let’s keep it that way,” Morok replied. “Put on a blindfold or something. We can still show you everything through a mind link. There’s no such thing as a Dragon’s Mind Eye, right?”
