Ch. 971..975: Powerful Papa with Triplet Babies Chapter 971-975

Chapter 971

The bullets landed on the car door over her head, and the weight exerted downward pressure on her.

Lilian clenched her jaw and hunched her back while her legs scurried.

The Rolls Loyce pulled over, and Anthony came out of the car. He saw Lilian, who was not dead and not far away from him.

He pulled out his gun, and aimed it at Lilian, then with a loud bang-

“Ah!” Lilian was shot in the back, and blood spurted out.

She rolled on the ground, and the car door dropped to the ground.

Lilian then hid behind other destroyed cars.

The helicopter hovered over. It would have to make a turn if it intended to shoot Lilian behind the car.

However, the railing of the bridge was near.

Lilian looked at the railing and thought that this was her only chance to live.

She used all her might to run toward the railing.

“Are you trying to run?” Anthony’s gun was once again aimed at Lilian.

Lilian used one hand to support herself on the railing and then hopped over.

At the same time, the bullets from Anthony’s guns flew toward her.

“Ah!” All three bullets landed on her.

Marco finally climbed out of the car, but she had already fallen off the bridge.

He dashed to the railing. Lilian had already fallen into the water and was nowhere to be seen.

It was a big area of water, and the currents were strong. They might not even be able to locate the body if she was dead.

The bodyguard said, “Mr. Marwood, she had been shot four times and would not survive, plus she had fallen into the water already.”

Anthony tossed his gun to the bodyguard. “I leave the rest to you.”

Then, he did not even look at Marco or the rest and left in his Rolls Loyce.

Marco watched as Anthony and his associates left and could not help but sigh. “He has quite a good aim.”

He did not expect to meet someone like that as soon as he got back to Luton.

What was his fate?

Ivan sat in the passenger seat and asked, “Mr. Marwood, what about… Marco York?”

“His background, please.”

Ivan then recited what he had found. “Marco is an Athetinian. He was the captain of the Crime Investigation Team there. He was transferred here because he offended someone. Mr. Marwood, the person that he offended was a Lloyd.”

Anthony’s dark eyes stunned briefly. A Lloyd?

“Not sure if it was Corentin Lloyd or Cory Lloyd.”

“Not surprising.” Anthony recalled Marco’s mannerisms and was not surprised about that. “However, he has his strengths.”

“Indeed, he was fearless in the trial room the other day. That is a rare case,” Ivan said.

Anthony did not say anything more, and Ivan understood what he had to do.

Anne was asleep at that time.

However, she could not sleep deeply.

During the day, she watched out of the window and zoned out.

Even at night, she fell asleep eventually halfway through zoning out too,

Therefore, when she heard heavy footsteps out the door, the insecure feeling was especially prominent.

The footsteps paused at her door.

Someone opened the door, and a person entered.

Anne turned around on her bed, but she was not awake. Her forehead was frowning.

The black silhouette blocked most of the light in front of her, touching Anne’s hand. She sprang up. “Ah!”

“Don’t fret. It’s me,” Anthony said.

Anne looked at the man before her blankly. He was sitting by her bedside, holding her hand.

She was stunned when she saw Anthony, who had not shown up for a long time.

“I’m late.” Anthony touched her skinny little face gently and said, “I am here to bring you home.”

‘Here to bring you home…‘ Anne finally heard this sentence that she desperately longed for. Her eyes were warm, and her other hand immediately grabbed

Anthony’s sleeve. She could not wait to be out of there.

Chapter 972

Anthony carried her up and left the room.

There was no one stopping him, and he walked out of the detention center.

The Rolls Loyce was waiting outside, along with the other bodyguards‘ cars too.

Marco and his superior watched as they left.

The superior was annoyed to see Marco’s confused expression. “I finally know why Athetin did not want you anymore! Why can’t you remember things? Luckily Mr. Marwood is generous enough. Otherwise, I am not sure where you will end up now!”

“What’s so wrong about me solving the case?” Marco asked.

“You…” His superior almost coughed blood out of his lungs. He was too tired to explain to him anymore and left in his car.

In fact, Marco understood well enough why he was singled out.

It was not that he did not understand the social protocol of the powerful people in the city, but rather, he did not like to indulge in that kind of culture.

Anne was quiet the whole time after she got into the car. She looked out of the window into the dark and zoned out again.

Anthony realized something was not right, and pulled her into his arm, then asked, “Why? Are you not happy?”

“No, I just cannot believe that I made it out…”

Anthony pinched her chin. His sharp eyes almost saw through her soul. “The real murderer was caught. Of course, you can get out now.”

“Who killed her?” Anne asked.

“Lilian.”

Anne frowned. She did not have any recollection of this person. “Do I know her?”

“Yes, how dare she frame you?” Anthony said, inches. away from hers,

“Did I annoy her in any way before?” Anne was confused. How much did Lilian hate Anne to make her frame Anne using another person’s life?

“No, don’t bother.” Instead, Anthony kissed right onto her lips.

He was at his limit for not seeing her in days.

Luckily, the woman was not smart enough to figure that out.

Anne was not in a good mood for kisses.

Why did he say not to bother? Was it complicated? Or was it related to Bianca, so he wanted to hide the truth?

This time around, it was Bianca’s turn to be interrogated in the trial room.

The person who conducted the interrogation was still Marco.

“What is wrong with you? My mother was murdered, and you suspect that I am an accomplice to Lilian? Are you kidding me? That is my own mother!” Bianca was enraged.

Marco played the recording for her. It was her conversation with Lilian.

“Do you really think it was Anne? Do you really think she would be capable enough for that?”

“…What do you mean? Was it… Was it you who killed her? What is wrong with you? Why did you kill my mother?”

“I am helping you to get rid of Anne. You should thank me for it.”

“Why did you have to kill my mother to get rid of Anne?”

Then there were some noises of things being smashed around.

“If you are not happy with it, you could call 911 and turn me in.”

Obviously, she did not do it.

Marco stopped the recording and asked, “Why didn’t you call the cops? Do you know that this is a cover–up crime? You did not kill your mother, but what is the difference between you and an accomplice?”

Bianca did not know how she was recorded in the room. “I … I was threatened by Lilian at that time, and I did not dare to call the cops on her! Plus, she suddenly showed up in my room in the middle of the night, and I was freaked out! Officer, I am the victim. Why are you interrogating me?”

Marco leaned backward. “How did you acquaint Lilian?”

Bianca was going mad. “Hey, didn’t you already ask this earlier?”

“I am repeating my question until I am satisfied.”

“Hey! Do you not know who I am!” Bianca was so mad that she slammed the table in front of her.

“Sit down! Who cares who you are!” Marco stopped her loudly.

In the bathroom, Anne was washing herself under the shower.

She entered the bathroom as soon as she got back.

Even though no one was disturbing her in the detention center, and she had her own bathroom, that was still a place for criminals.

Chapter 973

She always felt that her body was filthy.

Halfway through the shower, she felt someone approaching her from behind and then hugged her, his deep husky voice whispering into her ears. “Let me help you.”

Anne’s eyes, filled with water vapor, shuddered slightly.

“Are you blaming me?” Anthony’s thick palm brushed over her body while he asked.

“No, you went to find the murderer.”

She was in no position to blame him, not at all.

Anthony was willing to marry her because of the kids, and she should not complain anymore.

He turned her to face Anthony, making her feel like she had nothing left to be seen.

“Really?” Anthony asked.

“Yes, I trust you.” Anne nodded gently.

“Look at me.” Anthony lifted her chin.

Anne had to look into his bottomless dark eyes, which made her pupils constricted. She did not dare to stare into him for too long.

Anthony touched her face gently and said, “Sleep tight tonight, and everything will be fine tomorrow.”

Anne wanted to nod but realized he was still holding her chin, so she could only say a soft yes.

“Don’t worry. I will not let you get hurt.” Anthony’s dark eyes looked at her.

Anne bit her lips as though she wanted to say something.

“What do you want to ask?”

“Why… Why did you marry me?” Anne asked.

She knew the answer, but she just had to ask.

She immediately regretted it as soon as she asked.

Anthony did not expect her to ask that. Why did he marry her?

What was the reason?

He was feeling flustered again under his deep facade, and he did not seem to be willing to answer the question.

He knew his intention back then was to control Anne, who had lost her memory, so that she could stay by his side obediently.

As long as she was by his side, he did not have to think more about it.

He had always treated Anne this way.

“Nothing, I am just asking.” Anne noticed that Anthony was looking at her quietly, and her heart sank. “I am done showering, I will go out now.”

She pulled the towel from the side and wiped her body, then put on her pajamas and went out,

Anthony stood in front of the shower, and the feeling of frustration grew more intense.

Why did Anne ask that? Did she notice something?

Then, he took a quick shower and went out.

Anne was already fast asleep in bed.

Anthony strode over and snuck under the duvet.

Anne turned her body slightly, and one of her hands was placed quietly on the pillow next to her face. Her eyes were closed, and her face was angelic.

Anthony reached his arm out and pulled her in.

Anne opened her eyes as though she was shocked and then said, “Good night.

“Good night, I am here.” Anthony supported his head with one hand on the pillow and looked at her.

Anne did not say anything, and she did not push Anthony away either. She just closed her eyes obediently.

Anthony’s fingers caressed her smooth face, and he watched as she fell asleep.

She almost looked the same as before.

However, that night, Anne still woke up in the middle of the night.

She opened her eyes and looked around. The feeling of being detained was still fresh in her mind.

“Anne? Why are you awake?” Anthony immediately noticed as soon as Anne moved. He wiped her forehead to find it was full of sweat. “Did you have a bad dream?”

Chapter 974

Anne nodded.

Anthony pulled her closer and turned on the lights.

Don’t be afraid. I’m right here. Everything is fine now.”

Anne sobered slightly and retreated from his arms. “I… I want to see the kids.”

“They are asleep. You can see them tomorrow morning.”

Anne could not find a reason to insist on seeing the children at the moment, and Anthony forced her to lay down in his arms once again.

“This isn’t a cell. It’s your room.”

Anne curled up in his arms wordlessly.

He scowled and narrowed his eyes darkly, wondering if he had made the wrong choice in leaving her alone in the lockup. However, that was the best solution to the situation at the time.

He tightened his arms around her.

Anthony could understand that she had not fully recovered since she had just gotten out.

‘She will get better tomorrow,‘ he thought.

Bianca remained in the interrogation room. Marco questioned her until past midnight and had one of his colleagues take his place before arriving back to the trial room the next morning.

He yawned when he entered the room from exhaustion: He had merely rested for two hours, and that was hardly sufficient.

Bianca was still in her seat and was leaning against the table, asleep.

Marco kicked at the table. “Wake up!”

Startled awake, Bianca looked up at him. “Can I go now?”

“No.” Marco sat down on the chair and was dissatisfied with the report from the questioning session the night before. “Is there any other accomplice other than you and Lilian?”

“Accomplice?!” Bianca felt as though she was going insane. She had never been as exhausted and discomfited. Her throat felt dry, as though it was on fire. “I told you that I haven’t even come into contact with Lilian that many times. Maybe three or four times at most. I have no idea what she was up to! I want to see Anthony. If he finds out that you are keeping me in here, he is definitely going to come to get me out! I’m his fiance!”

“Do you know if Lilian has met with other people?” Marco asked.

“I don’t know… How many times must I repeat that?” she muttered helplessly.

“You need to cooperate.”

“I am cooperating!”

“Do Lilian and Tommy Marwood know each other?”

Surprised, she asked, “Tommy Marwood? Why him?”

Another police officer walked in and said something to Marco.

Marco got up to leave.

“Hey! When can I leave?” Bianca shouted anxiously.

Marco simply ignored her and went outside to the trial room next door, where Tommy was seated.

Tommy stared at the man who walked in coldly. He had never been in such a position in his entire life, as no one would dare to do such a thing to someone of the Marwood Family.

Marco sat down and said righteously, “Mr. Marwood, I’ve gone through your background. I know how powerful the Marwood Family is here, but none of that matters to me.”

“Who are you?” Tommy asked carelessly.

“My name is Marco York. I’m in charge of the murder of Dorothy Faye. Do you know this person?” Marco showed Tammy a photo.

“I do.”

“What’s the nature of your relationship?”

“Just distant friends. What’s the problem?” Tommy appeared to be at ease, as though he was merely sitting on the couch at home.

“She called you when she was on the run. Why? Are you in on the murder of Dorothy Faye?”

“No.”

“Why did she call you, then?”

“You can ask her on your own if you want to know that.”

“She’s dead.”

Chapter 975

Tommy gazed up. “You killed her?”

“She fought back when we tried to arrest her and shot at the police. You need to cooperate and tell us everything you know!” Marco deadpanned.

Not wanting to be bothered with speaking to him, Tommy studied Marco’s face. “I know who you are, Marco York. You were born in Athetin and were transferred here because you crossed someone higher up. It looks like you are itching for another internal transfer.” Marco’s expression darkened. “I’m a police officer, and it’s my job to fight the bad. That’s the only way that I can be proud of the job I’m doing. Mr. Marwood, refusing to cooperate will not work in your favor.”

Tommy stared at him coldly without any words.

Marco stood up. “If there’s nothing else that you wish to say, we will have to resort to looking into this on our own. You will be allowed to leave if we don’t find any new evidence in the next 48 hours.”

Tommy’s expression darkened.

He did not realize that Marco meant what he said until the door to the trial room closed.

Tommy was furious but forced himself to calm down.

He finally understood why Anthony was left with no choice but to leave Anne alone in the station. Marco must have played a great part in it.

‘Where on earth did this stubborn rock of a person come from?‘ he thought.

After being locked in the room for 48 hours, he was released due to the lack of evidence.

He walked out of the police station and toward his car with an angered look. He did not even need a mirror to know how discomfited he looked at the moment.

“Tommy!”

He looked around and saw Lucas running toward him. ” Are you waiting here for me?”

“How is Anne doing? I heard that they released her. What’s going on?” Lucas asked.

“I pity you. She’s Mrs. Marwood now. You are in no place to worry about her,” Tommy mocked.

“She… She got married?” Lucas said in shock, clueless as to what had happened.

It had been a long time since he last spoke to Anne because he did not wish to put her in a difficult position. He had only found out that Anne was in trouble from the internet.

“Get over yourself, Lucas. You have no role to play in this,

“Tommy said rudely.

“I just want to know what happened.”

“She ran into a car accident and lost her memories. That monster, Anthony, tricked her into marrying him and lied to her. Right now, she only has eyes for Anthony, and both you and I have no place in her life. Understood?” Tommy opened the car door and went in angrily before driving away.

Lucas remained frozen in place as he tried to process what Tammy had told him.

‘Anne lost her memories, and now she only has eyes for Anthony… How did that happen?‘ he thought.

He thought back to the way Anne looked at him as she was escorted to the police vehicle and realized that she was merely looking at him like she would a stranger.

Tammy managed to leave, but Bianca remained inside and transferred from the trial room to the holding cell.

“Open the door! I want to get out! I want a lawyer! I haven’t done anything!” she yelled through the gate. However, as everyone had grown used to her screaming in the past two days, no one spared her another look.

Two more days passed, and Bianca had given up on screaming and lay on her bed in devastation when she was eventually released due to the lack of evidence.

Naturally, she was punished accordingly with reference to the conversation she had with Lilian and had to pay a fine to leave.

She had been severely traumatized in the past few days and was hurt that no one had come for her throughout. her time in the police station.

‘That’s right. Mom is dead. No one else cares about me. What about Anthony? He probably doesn’t know that I was arrested, or he would have come to rescue me,‘ she thought.
