Ch. 616..620: Powerful Papa with Triplet Babies Chapter 616-620
Chapter 616
Anthony sat on the sofa and stared at the person lying in bed.
Sure enough, the slender woman could not handle her torment.
After a while, Anthony got up and sat on the edge of the bed, hovering over and covering Anne’s little face as if there were a layer of gray film. Next, he touched her little face with the back of his hand, which was tender and slightly hot.
Anne, who was sleeping, felt comfortable and rubbed her face against Anthony’s hand lightly. Not only did she not resent his slightly rough skin, but she reached out and grabbed his hand, resting her face on it as if she was afraid that he would run away.
Bianca just waited there until it was dark and the lights were on, yet Anthony was nowhere to be seen.
She had no choice but to call Anthony again, “Anthony, when are you coming? The people from the Civil Affairs Bureau are going to get off work. If you can’t be on time, can you speak to the head of the Civil Affairs Bureau first?”
While on the phone, Anthony stared at Anne’s small face and how she appeared pitiful as she grabbed his hand, saying, “Let’s get the marriage certificate another day. I can’t go there now.”
“What? Why?” Bianca could not help asking, “Didn’t you say… the matter was troublesome? Do you want me to come over?”
“No. You should go back first, and I’ll find you when things are done.” Anthony hung up the phone.
Bianca froze, and her cheeks were hot as if someone had slapped her. Then, she screamed in anger,
“Do you actually have no time, or are you being occupied by that b*tch, Anne, and can’t get away?! Why are you doing this to me? How can you hurt me because of Anne? I’m going to kill her!”
Dorothy was shocked. Bianca had never lost her temper at Anthony like this. Soon after, she took Bianca’s phone and found that the call had ended long ago.
Bianca got up with her bag in her hand and left the Civil Affairs Bureau in embarrassment, rushing into the parking lot. Then, she kicked the door of her car hard, cursing, “Go to hell! Go to hell! Go to hell!”
Dorothy hurriedly pulled her. “Stop kicking the door! Doesn’t your leg hurt?”
“It hurts… My heart hurts so much. How could Anthony treat me like this?” Bianca had never lost her cool to this extent and felt so miserable. She had waited for a day, thinking there was hope, only to wait for a call from Anthony to break their agreement!
Bianca’s dignity, pride, and grace had all been trampled on!
“What did Anthony say on the phone?” Dorothy asked.
“He said to take the marriage certificate another day. Why didn’t he show up? Since he missed our agreed time, he should hurry and make up for it! Why did he continue to delay? It must be Anne’s idea! It must be…” Bianca could only think of this possibility and nothing else.
“Fortunately, he’s only changing it to another day, so we still have a chance. Even if you
don’t get the marriage certificate, you’re still Anthony’s fiancee, and no one can change the fact,” Dorothy could only comfort her.
“I’m his fiancee now, but what about in the future? Will there be a day when someone replaces me?!”
“I’ll definitely not allow it!” Dorothy was furious.
Bianca looked into the distance angrily, and her gaze showed determination. “That’s right. I’ll just choose another day. Anthony won’t stand me up twice! I’m going to make him feel guilty and sorry for me so he’ll treat me better.”
Then, the two went home.
Nigel was already at home. Seeing them returning, he asked, “Why are you so late? You didn’t even answer my calls. What happened?”
“Bianca didn’t get the marriage certificate, and Anthony didn’t even show up. It’s all thanks to your little daughter!” Dorothy sneered.
Nigel frowned. “What does this have to do with her?”
“You’re still defending her? Have you considered Bianca’s feelings?” Dorothy was
aggrieved and angry.
Nigel looked at Bianca, who sat down on the sofa, looking livid and lost.
“Are you sure it has something to do with Anne?” Nigel asked.
“What else can it be? We couldn’t find Anthony and Anne! If you say these two are not
together, I’ll cut off my head!” Dorothy was furious.
Chapter 617
Nigel frowned. From the beginning, he already thought they should not have gotten the marriage certificate, and sure enough, something went wrong.
Nonetheless, Nigel could not tell the upset Bianca that, as it would only make matters worse.
“Dad, help me.” Bianca got up and approached Nigel, pulling his hand as she added, “Dad, talk to Anne. Ask her to give Anthony back to me. She doesn’t even like him, so why is she still pestering him? I can’t live without Anthony… Please ask her to forgive what I’ve done in the past. She can do anything, but just stop taking Anthony away from me… Okay? Dad, tell her. She’ll surely listen to you…”
Bianca burst into tears.
Nigel was distressed and sighed. “I’ll find out the situation and give you an answer.
Bianca nodded, looking sad and heartbroken.
As a father, Nigel could not stand seeing his daughter so miserable, so he could only get involved.
Anne’s fever recurred in the middle of the night, so Kathryn was called over again. It was only in the wee hours of the night that her condition stabilized.
It was already morning when Anne woke up, and the first thing she saw when she opened her eyes was a man’s chiseled naked chest.
The sexy chest was full of an oppressive aura.
Without looking up, Anne knew who it was.
Then, Anne closed her eyes again and pressed her face against the warm chest, breathing gently.
“You still want to continue?” Anthony’s gruff voice sounded.
Anne did not move, leaning in his arms like a lazy cat. “I… Cough, cough, cough…”
Anthony went to pour her a glass of warm water and fed her.
Anne looked at Anthony with her watery eyes as she drank.
Anthony’s chest tightened when he saw Anne staring at him.
When Anne finished drinking, he passionately pressed his thin lips against her water-
stained mouth.
Anne closed her eyes and wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him closer. After a while, she turned her face away and gasped for breath. “No… I’m out of breath…”
“You’re so weak, yet you’re still trying to seduce me? Hmm?” Anthony stared at her like a hungry beast.
Anne shut her eyes, eased her dizziness, and said, “When I feel better, I’ll exercise every day.”
Anthony bit her face. “I’ll make you some food.”
“You can cook?”
“You can only have simple meals for now.” Anthony moved away from her unwillingly and left the room. Anne’s body was soft and burning, and his self–control worsened.
Anne stared at the slightly opened door and rested her head on the pillow in a daze.
Did Anthony and Bianca get their marriage certificate?
She seemed to overhear Anthony on the phone with Bianca in her sleep, talking about getting the marriage certificate on another day.
At that time, she grabbed Anthony’s hand and pestered him. Was that why he said that?
Anne rolled over, saw Anthony’s phone on the bedside table, and checked the time.
It had been a day.
Bianca must be very angry since they did not get the marriage certificate.
However, Anne had no other choice. For the sake of her children, she would not mind offending everyone.
Later, Anne propped herself up from the bed and went to the bathroom to clean herself up. Besides feeling a little dizzy and weak, she was fine.
Looking at her sick face in the mirror, Anne had to admit that the development of the situation was a bit off track because she did not expect to get a fever from Anthony. Fortunately, the result was what she wanted.
Anne left the bedroom, went to the kitchen, and saw Anthony cooking in the distance.
The slim and tall man who emitted a sense of oppression did not seem like he belonged in the kitchen.
Anne did not expect that she would actually stop Anthony and Bianca from getting the marriage certificate by telling him she liked him.
Apart from this, she really had no other way.
This was the result of panicking.
When Anthony turned around, she did not cower but moved forward.
Chapter 618
Anne went into the kitchen, stood next to him, and watched him prepare to crack the eggs. Then, she said, “Let me do it…”
“Who asked you to get out of bed?”
“I’m feeling much better.” Then, Anne looked at the small egg in his hand and asked, “You know how to make a poached egg?”
“What’s so difficult about that?” Anthony was about to crack the egg with both hands, looking very skilled. However, he directly crushed the egg the next second.
The broken egg and shell all went into the pan.
“Pfft!” Anne laughed.
Anthony cast a warning glance at her, and she finally stopped.
“Umm… You don’t have to use so much force to do that,” Anne said.
Anthony refilled the water and was ready to crack another egg. Although he controlled his strength this time, the shell was still crushed, and some fell into the pot.
Anne was about to say it was fine, but Anthony threw the water and started again.
The third time, Anthony reduced his strength a little, and the egg was finally cracked perfectly into the pot, and the shell did not break into pieces too.
Anne stopped watching and was about to leave when Anthony suddenly grabbed her hand and pulled her over.
Anthony placed his hand on Anne’s forehead, and the long eyelashes under his palm fluttered.
“Eat your medicine,” Anthony said.
“Oh.” Anne did as he said. After that, she sat on the sofa with a water glass. She believed she would get better soon if she drank more hot water.
Anne’s bag was placed on the opposite sofa, so she switched her seat and took out the phone in the bag. Her muted phone had a lot of missed calls from Sarah, Dorothy, Bianca, and Nigel…
Anne thought Anthony’s phone was probably no better.
The two hid in this place as if they had disappeared from the world, indulging in each other and ignoring everything in the outside world that had nothing to do with them.
Anyway, she pretended not to know about getting a marriage certificate.
However, just because she could stop Anthony and Bianca this time, could she stop them next time?
Would Anthony not marry Bianca because she ‘liked‘ him?
Such a thought was ridiculous…
Anthony came out of the kitchen and saw Anne sitting on the sofa, playing with her phone, the one he had bought.
“Come here.”
Anne put her phone aside casually, got up, and walked to the dining table.
She saw that Anthony had prepared poached eggs and warm honey lemon tea.
However, it was only for one.
Anne asked, “What are you eating?”
“I’m going back to the company later.” Anthony sat on the chair and looked at her. “Do you hate to see me go?”
“If I say yes, are you going to stay?” Anne asked back.
Anthony remained quiet.
Anne did not expect him to really ignore work for a woman. For an ambitious man like Anthony, his career was the most important, and as for women, only Bianca might have significant importance!
“I have a lot of missed calls on my phone,” Anne said, “even Bianca’s. She’s probably looking for you. You should look for her. I’m fine.”
“You sounded just like a mistress,” Anthony commented.
It was not the first time Anne heard it, and she had already learned to keep her face straight. Then, she met Anthony’s calm black eyes and asked, “Do you want your children’s
mother to be a mistress?”
Anthony did not say anything but just looked at her with an unusually stern gaze.
Anne lowered her head, took a sip of the warm honey and lemon tea, and said, “It’s delicious. You can leave if you’re busy. I’m fine.”
Chapter 619
Anthony got up, walked to the couch in the living room, picked up his jacket, and put it on.
His tall and slender figure has a terrorizing aura and a strong sense of oppression.
He turned his body to the side slightly and his line of sight was staring at Anne, who was in front of the table.
Anne was just about to take a bite of the poached egg when she felt a sense of pressure closing in on her from behind and her spine subconsciously stiffened.
Anthony leaned down slightly from behind her. He put one hand on the edge of the table to support himself, enveloped Anne in his arms, and used his other hand to lift her jaw up. He then lowered his thin lips and kissed her lips.
Anthony frowned. “Isn’t it too sweet?”
Anne was slightly panting. “…You’re only realizing it now? You’ve poured half a bag of sugar into it, haven’t you?”
It was rare that Anthony was not confident because he indeed has done so.
“It’s fine. I’ll pour some water in later,” said Anne as she looked at the black deep–set eyes above her that did not look away.
“Wait here for my return,” upon saying that, Anthony released her, turned around, and left. Shortly after the door could be heard closing, the entire space fell completely silent.
Anne looked at the poached egg in the bowl, got up, went to the kitchen to pour the sugar water away, got herself a brand new cup of water, and added a little bit of sugar.
After she finished the egg, Anne took out the phone, which she bought herself, from her bag and went to the balcony to make a call. She was calling her mother.
“Anne, where are you now? Tell me, are you together with Anthony?” Sarah inquired.
“Mm–hmm.”
“So it’s really true. No wonder Dorothy came over to cause a scene like a crazy person.” “She went to look for you? She didn’t do anything to you, right?” Anne was nervous.
“No. She came here alone. There were two people here on my side. Even if we were to get into a fight, would I be at a disadvantage? She ran off with her face covered in dejection.” Sarah was feeling smug. “Anne, whatever you do, I’ll support you, so just do it without any worries!”
Anne knew that her mother certainly also knew about the matter of getting a marriage certificate, so she did not deny her mother’s words.
“Are Anthony and Bianca still going to get a marriage certificate together? You have to think of a way to get rid of this idea in his head. You absolutely can’t let the two of them get their marriage certificate,” Sarah told her over the phone.
“I don’t know. I’ll give it a try,” said Anne, “but Dad has called me. I haven’t returned his call.”
“What else could it be? It must be for Bianca. Anne, listen to me, no matter who puts you in a difficult position, just ignore the person, including your father. Got it?”
“Did Dad say anything to you?” Anne asked.
“What right does he have to say anything? He is your father, but don’t forget that he still has another daughter. How can he wholeheartedly keep standing in your corner? The interests of both sides are conflicting with each other,” said Sarah.
“I know.” Anne believed that nobody could change her decision at the moment anymore.
She must stop Anthony from marrying Bianca.
“Is Anthony there?”
“He went to the company.”
“Where have the both of you gone then?” Sarah was curious. “Dorothy and Bianca actually could not find you guys at all. It can’t be that Anthony bought you a new house to keep you in there, right?”
“No. It’s just a club in the suburbs. It’s very ordinary.” Anne did not say that it was Julie’s
apartment.
Just in case her mother accidentally revealed this piece of information to others.
“Anne, just push on and make Anthony get a marriage certificate with you.”
Anne remained silent to let her mother mistakenly think that she had accepted it.
In actuality, she felt that stopping Anthony from marrying Bianca did not mean that she had to marry Anthony herself.
These are two separate matters.
After she was done with the call with Sarah, Anne tidied up the kitchen a little, picked up her bag, and left.
How would she really stay there to wait for Anthony?
Just like how Anthony might not have gone to the company but has gone to look for Bianca instead.
Chapter 620
He vanished just like that. Bianca certainly must be anxious.
Just as she left the door, the phone in her bag rang.
The phone that she bought herself would not have any sound even if there was an incoming call.
She took out the phone and saw that it was Bianca calling. She did not answer the call.
Just as she stuffed the phone bag into her bag…
“Anne?”
Anne was stunned for a moment. She turned around and saw her father, Nigel, walking out of the garage. He was looking at her in surprise.
“Dad…”
“You’re here?” Nigel asked.
“I… I came to check out the progress of the renovation,” said Anne as she avoided his gaze a little.
Nigel believed what she said. After all, how could he have expected that Anthony would be staying next door?
“Do
you like the renovation?”
“Mm–hmm. I quite like it,” said Anne.
Nigel saw Anne’s face and asked, “What’s the matter? Are you not feeling well?”
“I had a fever the past two days and had been sleeping in the apartment,” said Anne.
“You had a fever?” Nigel hurriedly reached out his hand to touch her forehead, but her temperature did not seem abnormal.
“It’s fine. The fever’s already gone,” said Anne as she pulled Nigel’s hand down, then she asked, “Dad, did you come over to look for me?”
“You didn’t pick up my calls and you’re not home. Can I not be anxious? I just came to try my luck. I didn’t expect that you’ll really be here.” Nigel looked as if he had something to say but he stopped himself. Then, he said, “Are you going back to the area you’re staying in? I’ll give you a lift.”
Anne did not reject him.
She then got into Nigel’s car.
Nigel drove over by himself. He did not ask his driver to drive him.
Anne sat in the front passenger seat with her head leaning against the chair and was looking out the window listlessly.
“Anne, have you been in the apartment by yourself in these two days?” asked Nigel.
She has to face the matter soon or later.
Anne’s gaze moved a little. “No. Anthony was also there. He was the one who took care of me. He just left before you came to the apartment.”
“Anne, do you know what day it was yesterday?”
“I don’t know. What is it?” Anne asked in confusion.
“It’s the day Anthony and Bianca were supposed to get their marriage certificate.”
Anne was shocked. “I had no idea about this. I was very dizzy because of the fever yesterday and I only woke up this morning.”
“This matter has caused so much trouble. I don’t wish at all for Bianca to marry Anthony.
He can’t be a good husband. Other than money, there’s nothing one can get after marrying him.” Nigel was very earnest.
Anne remained silent.
Indeed, if her children were to have a partner like Anthony in the future, she would not agree either.
This man could not be controlled. He was too powerful. As her woman, one could only turn a blind eye to the things he did.
That was the reason Bianca did not dare to cause a scene.
After all, there were plenty of women in Luton who would not cause a scene.
“But Bianca likes Anthony very much. After she went abroad, she kept mentioning Anthony and has been thinking about it. Her career in arts was having great progress abroad. In the end, she still chose to return to the country for Anthony. Both of you are my daughters. Both of you are equally important to me. I don’t wish to see any of you hurt.”
“Dad, if you have something to say, just say it directly.” It was because Anne could not figure out what he wanted to say that she told him so.
“I know that you don’t like Anthony. When he is by your side, can you talk some sense into him or can you and Bianca face this together? Take this time, for example. After you came down with a fever, if you gave Bianca a call, I believe she certainly would be very willing to take care of you.”
