Ch. 1281..1285: Powerful Papa with Triplet Babies Chapter 1281-1285
Chapter 1281
“You…love him?” Beth asked.
Ashlynn lowered her gaze to stare at the tip of her shoes. “…Yes,”
Beth remained quiet.
“Auntie, thank you for everything, but I’ve made up my mind,” Ashlynn said, not knowing if Beth would be upset as it sounded almost like she was trying to take Meredith’s man.
“I support whatever choice you make, but you need to think this through. I don’t want you to be abused,” Beth said.
“Yes…”
“Whatever happens, you are still welcome to drop by for dinner. Do you understand?”
Ashlynn could not find her words, not knowing if she was truly worthy of such treatment despite being trapped in her worst nightmare at the same time.
“Sure,” she whispered.
“This is my number. Call me whenever you want,” Beth said, “if you want to come back, I can go over there to pick you up.”
“…Okay.”
Beth remained quiet for a few moments, before uttering, “I…” There was so much that she wished to say, but her words would not come out.
Ashlynn noticed Corentin standing in a distance, and hastily hung up, before putting her phone away and walking over to him. “I’ve spoken to Beth. She won’t come to get me. Can you delete the video now, Corentin? It’s sick…to keep something like that!”
“That depends on you,” he said darkly.
“I will stay and obey you. Just delete them!”
He sneered evilly, “I’m still curious…why would Beth care so much about you all of a
sudden?”
“Maybe…maybe she doesn’t want me to interfere with your relationship with Meredith.”
“Don’t overthink it. I didn’t call off the engagement with Meredith because of you. I will get Beth back sooner or later for getting my son killed,” Corentin gritted out
fiercely.
Ashlynn did not care about any of the things he said and could only think of the videos and photos Corentin had. She grabbed onto his arm pleadingly. “Salvatore, delete them. If those leak, I would kill myself…”
He pulled his arm away and caressed her cheek. “I can’t possibly get rid of my leverage against you.”
She gave him a pained look. “You should be locked in a mental hospital!”
“What a good idea. Let’s go together tomorrow.”
Ashlynn ignored him.
That night, she went into the shower first and reached for Corentin’s phone when it
was his turn to shower.
There was a password to his phone and she tried to search her memories.
When she was working at the Lloyd Group, she had seen Corentin typing the password and managed to unlock the phone in one attempt.
She was shocked when she saw all the videos and photos on his phone. There was nothing but unspeakable sight of her and she trembled at the number of files there
were.
She selected all of them and deleted everything, before sighing a breath of relief.
“Are you done?” A devilish voice echoed in the room.
Startled, she backed away and fell onto the bed.
Chapter 1282
She gaped at Corentin, who appeared behind her.
Since he had spotted her, she summoned the courage and retorted, “You should have kept these things to begin with.”
“Do you really think that’s all?” Corentin was amused.
An ominous feeling rose within Ashlynn.
“I have plenty more on my computer. Are you interested in seeing them?”
She stood furiously. “Corentin Lloyd!”
“Shh…” He pressed a finger against her lips. “Don’t yell. It’s no big deal.”
Tears welled in her eyes as she shoved his hand away and yelled angrily, “Why won’t you die?! Go to hell…ah!”
He shoved her onto the bed and before she could react, his shadow loomed over her. He caressed the smooth skin on her cheek and said, “Your skin feels so soft to the touch.”
Noticing the lust hidden within his amber-colored eyes, she muttered in a trembling voice, “I’ve just lost a child, you can’t…”
“If I insist, what are your chances of escaping?”
She shook like a leaf. “You can’t. You can’t…Salvatore, spare me!”
He lowered his body and pressed a kiss on her cheek. “Honey, it’s easy to ask for mercy, but not so easy to ask for death…” He proceeded to kiss her on the lips.
He was desperate as though he was having withdrawal symptoms and he could not wait to devour her.
More precisely, it felt worse than withdrawal symptoms to stay away from Ashlynn.
She turned her face to the side to breathe and blurted out, “If I get sick, it’s only going to be more troublesome for you!”
He buried his face into the crook of her neck and inhaled her scent. “You will always be my wife. Remember that.”
She closed her eyes in devastation.
The next day, the two headed out in Corentin’s car and she sat in the car nervously,
wondering if Corentin had come up with a new way to torture her.
When the car drove through the gate of a hospital, she noticed that they had entered an asylum.
She turned to stare at Corentin in shock. “What are you trying to do? Why did you bring me here? Are you…going to lock me up here?”
He did not respond and got out of the car once it stopped.
Ashlynn refused to move and leaned back at the seat.
Corentin placed one hand on the roof of the car and bent down to study the pale look on her face. “I’ve brought you here to see someone.”
“…Who?”
“You will know once you go inside,” he said and when Ashlynn still refused to get out, he said, “should I carry you out of the car?”
Knowing that he would force her out of the car no matter what, she went out hesitantly, all the while telling herself that Corentin would not act so gently if he was truly going to lock her up in an asylum.
‘But why are we here? He is the one who should be locked in here!’ She thought.
They arrived at a room and Corentin knocked on the door, before entering the room.
Ashlynn was surprised that Corentin knew to knock and wondered who it was inside the room.
“Come in,” an energetic woman’s voice called out.
Once they went inside, Ashlynn spotted a woman sitting on a rocking chair while knitting, the first thing that hit her was confusion as to why the woman would be knitting in such hot weather.
Chapter 1283
“Oh, my! Corentin!” Alexis Allison set her knitting tools down and walked over to hug Corentin. “Let me take a good look at you. Did you lose weight? Has your madman of a father done anything to you?”
“No.”
Alexis noticed Ashlynn in surprise and went over to take Ashlynn’s hands. “And you must be my daughter-in-law, right?”
“Yes,” Corentin admitted.
“I knew it. I can tell right away. She seems like a nice girl. Corentin, don’t bully her, okay?” Alexis said, “Here, let me give you a gift.”
She pulled Ashlynn over to her bed and took out a box from the drawer, before handing it to Ashlynn. “Open it and see if you like it.”
“I can’t take this,” Ashlynn refused.
“Why not? I would be upset if you don’t take this.” Alexis placed her hands over her chest and pouted.
Corentin found a chair and sat down. “Just keep it.”
Ashlynn accepted the box and opened it to find a beautiful brooch inside. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome. Corentin is such a bad boy for not inviting me to the wedding. Has he bullied you? Tell me if he did and I’ll beat him up for you.”
“He didn’t.”
“It’s Beth Wallace who bullied her,” Corentin said.
Ashlynn shot Corentin an annoyed look for mentioning this.
“Beth Wallace?” Alexis repeated in confusion. “Who’s that? Do I know her? I can’t remember. Beth Wallace… Beth Wallace…young lady, who are you?”
Since Alexis was having another episode, the two did not stay and left the asylum. Ashlynn knew that the woman in the asylum was the mother of the real Corentin Lloyd.
‘How pitiful to be locked up there, not knowing that her real son is long dead and the man before her is just an imposter who killed her son,’ she thought, knowing with
certainty that Corentin would not feel guilty at all.
“How did she end up like this?” She asked.
“She knew too much.” He glanced at her. “How much do you know?”
“I don’t know anything.” She looked outside the window.
Ashlynn had no interest in learning the dark secrets of the Lloyd Family. Had the Hiltons been aware of the truth, they would have never allowed Meredith to be engaged to Corentin as it was no different than pushing Meredith into a fire.
The car stopped by the street instead of Corentin’s mansion.
A woman walked over and Corentin’s bodyguard took the bag the woman was holding.
Corentin lowered the car window to take the bag before tossing it toward Ashlynn. ” See if you like it.”
The car took off once again and Ashlynn held onto the bag, surprised by the gift. She opened the bag and saw a woman’s watch that looked extravagant and fashionable.
“Is mine prettier or the one Jeremy got you prettier?” He asked, “He bought you quite a lot of things, didn’t he?”
Corentin had learned that Jeremy and Ashlynn went shopping before even asking the question and was even aware of what they had bought.
“Why didn’t you wear the one he got you?”
Knowing that Corentin would soon lose his patience if she remained quiet, she said, ” You would be upset if I wear it.”
“How thoughtful,” he said.
Ignoring the sarcastic tone, she said, “You don’t need to buy me anything else. I have more than enough.”
He did not say a word, but took the watch out of its box, before putting it onto her
wrist.
She studied the watch and noticed the odd, irregular shape of the wristband, despite how smooth it felt on her skin.
‘Maybe it’s just a special design,’ she thought.
The way Corentin helped put it on made it feel like a chain instead of a watch, but since she did not have the courage to refuse, she simply said, “Thank you. It looks nice.”
Chapter 1284
“I’m glad that you like it.” He narrowed his eyes dangerously.
Her phone rang and she instinctively wanted to hide her phone when she saw Beth’s name on the display.
“Answer it,” Corentin commanded.
Ashlynn wanted to say that she was not that close to Beth, but could not excuse herself when she had already saved Beth’s number. She was confused as to why Beth would call her two days in a row and answered, “Hello…”
“Ashlynn, what are you doing now? Are you busy? Let’s have a meal together,” Beth asked.
“I…I am outside,” Ashlynn shuttered.
“With Corentin?”
“Yeah.”
“Hand your phone over to him.”
Ashlynn glanced at Corentin and passed the phone to him.
He accepted the phone with a dark look in his eyes. “What?”
“Ashlynn said that she’s with you. I assume that you haven’t eaten, so why don’t you
two join us for a meal? Marshall is here, too. I will reserve the table.”
“No.” Corentin hung up, before tossing the phone back to Ashlynn’s lap.
She put her phone away without another word.
“Do not go anywhere near Beth ever again,” he ordered furiously.
“She means well.”
“Do you really not understand what I’m telling you?”
Ashlynn remained quiet. She knew that Corentin would have Beth killed for their lost child if he had the chance, but she did not want that to happen.
“It’s in the past. No matter what you do, your child won’t come back to life,” she said.
“He was your child as well. You sure are forgiving,” he said darkly.
Ashlynn was sent back to the mansion and Corentin headed back to Lloyd Group to
work.
She snuck into the study room when she was alone and found a laptop locked with a password.
She tried the same password on Corentin’s phone and it was wrong; the laptop displayed that she had made two attempts and the laptop would be locked if she made one more failed attempt, so she could only give up.
For as long as Corentin held those photos and videos, she would remain under his control with no hope of escaping and she would have to obey his every command.
At night, Corentin came back for dinner and the two ate without a word. Ashlynn kept her eyes on Corentin, searching for signs to see if he knew about her visit to the study room.
Just then, they heard the engine noises of a car outside the door.
Ashlynn had thought that it was Meredith, and was surprised when she saw Cory storming into the dining room. “What have you done?”
“I’ve done plenty. Which one are you talking about?” Corentin asked expressionlessly.
“I’m talking about Alexis! Did you go to visit her in the asylum?” Cory questioned angrily.
Ashlynn immediately realized who they were talking about at the mention of the asylum.
‘So her name is Alexis. It’s a shame that someone with such beauty was driven mad,’ Ashlynn thought to herself. ‘I supposed Cory got what’s coming for him after what he did to Alexis since his sons died in the end.’
Chapter 1285
“What have you said to her? She ran over to Beth’s place and stabbed her!” Cory roared in a dark expression.
Ashlynn gaped at Corentin, realizing that this was the reason why Corentin mentioned to Alexis that Beth bullied her.
“How is Beth? Is she alright?” Ashlynn asked worriedly.
“Her arm was hurt, but she is not in any critical danger. The Hiltons won’t let this slide!” Cory said.
Beth was the daughter-in-law that old Mr. Hilton chose and he had trained her as he would his own daughter. The Lloyd Family would not be able to escape certain punishment for causing such a thing to happen.
“I know that you did this! Alexis wouldn’t have been able to escape the asylum if you didn’t make the arrangement!” Cory slammed his palms onto the dining table.
Corentin leaned back casually. “Why are you all worked up? The Hiltons won’t come after us.”
“Why are you so sure?” Cory felt that the situation could not be worse. Corentin had called off the engagement with Meredith and had now caused Beth’s injury. Crossing the Hiltons in Athetin would bring unimaginable consequences.
Corentin pointed his chin at Ashlynn. “Beth Wallace likes her.”
Ashlynn understood what he was saying and her expression darkened, reluctant to help the Lloyd Family in any way.
“Why her?” Cory asked in confusion, “Why would Alexis go after Beth in the first place?? You were trying to use a madwoman to commit murder for you? Corentin, I already told you that the Hiltons have nothing to do with that baby!”
Corentin narrowed his eyes darkly. “And I told you that I will make them pay for killing my child. Go home if that’s all you have to say!” He then continued to focus on his
meal.
Cory was furious and taken by surprise that Corentin would do such a thing. He glanced at Ashlynn and asked, “Beth will really listen to you and let this slide?”
“I have nothing to do with this,” Ashlynn said.
Corentin shot Ashlynn an endearing half-smile.
Cory stormed off, hoping that the Hiltons would be willing to forgive them once he paid them a visit to apologize in person.
“Are you worried about Beth?”
“No.”
Despite what she said, Ashlynn made a call to Beth after Corentin left for work.
“Are you coming to see me?” Beth asked cheerfully.
“I…”
“Come over, won’t you? Let’s have lunch together.”
Ashlynn hesitated, before agreeing.
She arrived at Marshall and Beth’s mansion in the morning and stood outside the door, when she heard a car approaching.
She turned around and spotted Beth’s car and Beth was stepping out of the car.
“Have you waited long?” Beth hurried over in heels, her eyes filled with longing for Ashlynn.
Ashlynn glanced at the bandage around Beth’s arm. “Auntie, are you alright?”
“I’m fine. It’s just a scratch.” Beth could see nothing else but Ashlynn and reached out to take her hand. “Come, let’s go inside.”
Ashlynn was pulled into the living room and was confused as to why Beth was holding her hand so preciously.
Aunt Cher was stunned when she spotted the two walking over hand in hand.
“Come. Sit.” Beth pulled Ashlynn to sit down next to her. Though she had tried calming herself for the past two days, she still could not hold back the excitement she felt when she saw Ashlynn.
“Go make Ashlynn some juice. Jeremy said that you used to love fruit juice when you were working at the Lloyd Group,” Beth said.
