Ch. 1256..1260: Powerful Papa with Triplet Babies Chapter 1256-1260
Chapter 1256
Ashlynn lay on the bed after a shower. She sprang up when she heard someone entering.
She was now so jumpy that every single noise would make her feel tense.
Corentin entered the bedroom, carrying his coat in his arm. His dark aura was even more intense than before.
The way he looked at Ashlynn was even filled with coldness.
The last time Corentin was here was during the day, he came with the intention of killing her.
Now, why was he coming here at night?
When Corentin reached the bed, Ashlynn could smell the alcohol on him.
That intensified the dangerous waves in the atmosphere.
Ashlynn looked at him with her guard up. “What are you doing?”
“I am here to see you. Do you have a problem with that?” Corentin was like a beast, intruding. His amber–colored eyes were emitting dangerous rays.
Ashlynn did not believe that he was only there to see her.
Corentin threw his coat on the end of the bed and sat down. His tall figure blocked most of the light in front of him. “The Hilton family wanted to treat us to lunch, and I am here to bring you there, happy?”
Ashlynn could not comprehend. “Why are you bringing me?”
“Aren’t you close with Beth?”
Ashlynn was slightly out of breath. She then scolded furiously, “What’s wrong with you!”
Then, she turned from the other side of the bed as though only if she put herself far away enough from Corentin, then only would she be safe.
Corentin had not budged. He looked at her so calmly as though he was watching a bird hopping agitatedly in the cage but could never escape from it.
“Do you really think the Hilton family just wanted to treat you to lunch? It is because you wanted to cancel your engagement with Meredith Hilton. You are bringing me there. Do you think I am just a snowflake?”
Corentin’s eyes were full of menace. “Then you must go anyway!”
“I don’t want to!”
“You don’t have a say in it!” Corentin stood up and went into the bathroom for a shower.
The atmosphere in the room could never return to normal again, and the faint water sound from the bathroom only intensified the emotional pressure that she was experiencing
How exactly did Corentin come up with this idea to ask her to have lunch with the Hilton family?
She knew how badly the Hiltons wanted her to disappear.
If she attended, that would not be just a lunch but an open provocation.
What did she have? She did not have status nor money. She would only be torn into pieces at lunch!
She thought Corentin must have done this only as revenge for losing the kid!
She did not protect the kid well… Ashlynn sat down by the bed weakly and suppressed the tears in her eyes.
The bathroom door opened, and Ashlynn jumped. She saw Corentin with only a towel around his waist, feeling immensely pressured.
Corentin was tall and buff, the lines of his muscles were chiseled, full of explosive force, like a beast who had spent years running in the field, ready to kill whenever it got its chance.
Corentin went into bed and closed his eyes, never saying another word.
Ashlynn stood there, not knowing anything to do, having her defenses up.
Was Corentin here to sleep, or was he here to scare her?
She remembered that she had just had a miscarriage not too long ago and thought that perhaps he was not such a maniac.
Her brain was trying to console herself while her body was shivering in fear. Perhaps Salvatore’s image was too deeply imprinted in herself.
With a loud tack, the lamp in the room was turned off.
The room fell into complete darkness.
Ashlynn felt that if she did not go into bed now, Corentin would soon lose his patience.
Chapter 1257
The sense of danger made her no longer hesitate. She went into bed and lay down by the side.
After that, it felt like the pressure lasted an eternity. Ashlynn could no longer stand the exhaustion and eventually fell asleep.
When she woke up the next morning, Corentin was not by her side, and the room also did not smell like alcohol.
Ashlynn walked to the balcony and looked down.
She wanted to see if the car was around but saw his figure on the chair she usually sat on by the pond.
He was sitting there, sipping on his coffee, looking unbothered.
Ashlynn knew that it was only an act.
Corentin did not leave yet, because he wanted to bring her to join the lunch with the Hilton family.
He was serious about it…
Ashlynn ran down behind Corentin. She looked at his back and could not help but soften her tone, “Salvatore, please don’t bring me. I don’t want to go…”
“I had already decided. It is useless to argue,” Corentin said lightly.
Ashlynn went in front of him. “You killed Chichi already. What else do you want? The incident with the kid is not just my fault!”
She felt her chest tighten when she spoke about Chichi.
That was a life too!
Corentin’s fingers that were wrapped around the mug tightened. “You seem to be addicted to betraying me. I think I have been too good to you. That is why you are ignoring what I am saying!”
“Since you know that I will betray you, why are you still keeping me by your side? I told you I betrayed you in the past and present, and I will continue to do so in the future! So, let me go, the further the better…” Ashlynn said agitatedly.
Corentin slapped her
“Ah!” Ashlynn could not withstand the force and fell onto the ground. She felt her ears ringing.
Corentin stood up in front of Ashlynn, who was on her all fours, his face twitching with anger. “I dare you to repeat that again!”
Ashlynn was shivering and did not dare to say a word more.
It was because she knew that the more she said, the more she would be tortured by Corentin.
Corentin saw that Ashlynn did not say anything, so he pulled her up and pinched her face using his fingers. His gaze was merciless. “I forgot that I needed to bring you to lunch, and I could not let your face be swollen like this. It would be ugly.”
Ashlynn’s lips were trembling when she faced the perverted Corentin.
For the rest of the morning, Corentin helped to ice her face.
Ashlynn sat in the chair, not moving, feeling the ice and numbness on her face.
She could not even cry anymore.
Plus, now that the lunch was decided.
Someone sent the dress over, and Ashlynn went to the room to change. She did not see Corentin’s expression either when she was descending the staircase.
Was it important to look good?
No, it was important to cooperate with Corentin so that he could humiliate her.
The elegant black Bintley car, which symbolized status and power, was parked in front of the hotel door.
They entered the restaurant’s private room and saw that everyone had arrived.
Old Mr. Hilton was not around, but the Hilton brothers, Beth, and Meredith, were all there.
There was only Cory Lloyd from the Lloyd family.
The lunch was set up to resolve the tension between the two families, but Cory was beyond pissed when he saw Ashlynn following behind Corentin. The Hilton family, naturally, did not look pleased.
“Old Mr. Hilton, what is this? Are you sure you are here for lunch?” Beth said, with a fake smile on her face.
Cory pointed at Ashlynn and asked, “Why did you bring her here?”
“Since it is just lunch, it would not be too much of a fuss just to add a set of cutlery for Ashlynn.” Corentin sat down and pulled Ashlynn to follow suit too.
Ashlynn was forced to sit next to Corentin. She could feel numerous hostile gazes falling upon her, secretly wishing she was dead.
Chapter 1258
That was right, it would not be too much of a fuss to just add a set of cutlery. Only Corentin could say that with a straight face.
“Then what is her identity to earn her a seat on this table? As your lover? Corentin, are you trying to humiliate her?” Meredith asked.
“Did you say I cannot bring any guests beforehand?” Corentin asked everyone.
Everyone went speechless, astounded by Corentin’s logic, though they suppressed their feelings.
Beth was quick to calm down. “Since she is already here, perhaps it’s good to discuss this as well openly. Corentin, did you cancel the engagement because of her?
Corentin was too lazy to even reply.
This was because the answer was already apparent.
Beth asked, “Are you kidding? You are going against the Hilton family for a girl that came from the slum. I really doubt you are capable enough to be the Lloyd family’s heir.”
Corentin’s hands were grabbing the glass and swirling it slowly in his hands. His eyes looking at Beth were dark but cold. “I heard that you were there too when Ashlynn went into the operation theater. Do you mind explaining yourself first?”
Beth looked at Ashlynn.
In fact, she was exposed that night because she thought Corentin would never do much just for a secret lover.
Now, she really felt that Corentin was utterly incapable of thinking straight.
He had the balls to bring Ashlynn here to challenge everyone.
However, it only took Beth a swift second to change her strategy. “I am indeed at fault for not handling this better, so to make amends, I would like to take Ashlynn as my goddaughter.”
Everyone was shocked to hear this, except Corentin, who only reacted with his eyes turning slightly darker.
“Auntie, what are you talking about?” Meredith was the first person to disagree.
Was she joking?
If Ashlynn could become the goddaughter of the Hilton family, then her status would no longer be the girl from the slum. She would be an equal to her!
Beth gave her a look to comfort her, then directed her charity gaze back to Ashlynn.” What do you think?”
Meredith had to suppress her uneasiness.
What else could she think? No matter who that was, it was immensely great news!
Ashlynn should be so happy that she lost her words!
However, was Ashlynn the only one who found this unusual?
Even though she had only been in contact with Beth two times before, she knew that this woman was not kind.
Beth knew it well enough that if she did this, they would be distracted from the
cancellation of the engagement to the truth within the operation theater.
If any evidence showed the Hilton family was at fault first, then they would no longer have the upper hand.
This was the reason why Corentin came here all prepared.
He would not just let this slide.
However, Ashlynn was unwilling to become Beth’s goddaughter.
She was about to decline the offer. “I am sorry, I…”
“I agree.”
Ashlynn turned her head at the deep voice next to her that replied. She looked at Corentin in shock.
He agreed. Why?
Corentin seemed to be able to sense her shock and questions. His amber–colored eyes looked right into hers. “You should accept this extremely good offer to become the Hilton family’s goddaughter.”
Ashlynn pursed her lips. To accept or not? No, she did not want to take part in the Lloyd family’s matter and definitely not to be involved with the Hilton family.
However, what Corentin wanted was to make her suffer…Chapter 1259
Before she even declined, Meredith mocked, “Right, this is a once-in–a–lifetime good offer that other people would die to be in your place. I just don’t know if you are fortunate enough to live with this bliss. Since you are already my aunt’s goddaughter, you should do something too, go on, pour wine for my aunt, and give her a toast.”
Ashlynn did not do it.
Corentin said, “Go on.”
His two simple words reminded Ashlynn that she was supposed to comply and even make sure she did it well.
She had to suppress her emotions, and said coldly, “I do not want to be involved with the Hilton family, thank you for your kind offer.”
What Beth offered was already shocking enough. They did not expect things to take another even more shocking twist.
Ashlynn was declining it?
Meredith was so pissed that she almost slammed the table. “Ashlynn, do you really think you are someone important? Don’t you be so disrespectful.”
“I did not ask for you all to offer me this!” Ashlynn rebutted.
“Ah, I know it. You wanted to keep Corentin to yourself and not let him go, right? But now, you don’t even have your kid anymore. What else do you have to keep him?”
To bring up the kid was undoubtedly an attempt to bring more pressure to the conversation, and the atmosphere immediately turned tense.
Suddenly, everyone heard a loud cracking of the glass, and everyone turned to look at Corentin immediately.
Corentin’s crystal glass was shattered in his bare hands, and the water inside spurted out. There was also blood from the shards cutting into his palm.
It was a bloody sight.
“Corentin, are you alright? Do you need to go to the hospital?” Meredith expressed concerns.
Corentin acted as though he did not hear that. He turned his face around, and his eyes were intimidating, “Give her a toast!”
Ashlynn suppressed the fear in her, and with a shaky voice, she said, “Why are you forcing me? You know it well enough that I am not willing to…”
Corentin’s voice was scarily cold. “Ash, I don’t have much patience.”
Ashlynn clenched her jaw. She could only stand up and pour Beth a glass of wine before raising her own glass, waiting for Beth to accept the toast.
“Ashlynn, you have to kneel so that this counts, Meredith reminded.
Ashlynn kneeled on the ground. The hard floor hurt her knees slightly.
Beth did not raise her glass to accept the favor. Instead, she asked her husband, ” Marshall, what do you think? You agree with me taking her in as my goddaughter, don’t you?”
“Your call.” Marshall Hilton had always been tolerant and respectful to his own wife. The Hilton brothers did not express an opposing stance as well. They left it to their mother to decide.
Beth seemed to be about to say something touching. “I had never expected myself to have such a present today. This was a surprise gift for myself. I have to thank the Lloyd family for this. Thank you for giving me a goddaughter.”
Cory Lloyd immediately looked terrible.
Only Corentin watched without batting an eye as everything unfolded, as though everything was irrelevant to him.
*Auntie, now that you have your goddaughter, you will still love me as you did, won’t you?” Meredith fawned.
“Why wouldn’t I? You are always the apple of my eye. No one can overtake you,” Beth said.
“Perhaps someone would think otherwise and think that their value inflated overnight!” Meredith hinted.
“No, they won’t.” Beth patted Meredith’s hand. They interacted as though they were mother and daughter.
The two of them had a good time chatting while Ashlynn kneeled on the ground the whole time. No one cared how long she had been kneeling and whether her knees were already numb.
There would also certainly be no one asking if her arm that was still rising was sore.
Even Corentin himself was watching coldly from the side.
The glass in her hand was already shaking, and just when she finally could not stand it any longer, Beth remembered her. She looked down at Ashlynn and said, “Now, as soon as we drink from this
glass of wine, you will be my goddaughter. I will… be nice to you.”
Chapter 1260
Then, she received the glass and took a sip.
When Ashlynn placed her arm down, she could feel it still shaking involuntarily.
She did not believe that Beth would be nice to her. She was saying it in reverse.
Beth placed the glass down. “Okay, don’t you kneel anymore. You just had a miscarriage, and you should take good care.”
It was almost as though she deliberately said it.
She also did not ask Ashlynn to give Marshall a toast.
It was as though only she was getting a goddaughter and that it was irrelevant to everyone else in the Hilton family.
When Ashlynn stood up, her knees were stiff.
She almost lost her balance.
She returned to the seat next to Corentin, looking pale.
Beth was flexible. She saw Cory and immediately said, “Now I have taken Ashlynn as my goddaughter. Today is a good day. Let’s not ruin our day with what the media said.”
She was giving everyone a space to not be awkward.
Corentin smiled, pretending to be a gentleman, then said, “You are making me do something contradictory to what I said. Who else will listen to me in the future?”
Even though he said so, would he not already know about the seriousness of everything?
“No, the wedding…” Cory wanted to say something more.
He was interjected by Corentin, “Please go on. I have something else to attend to. I am leaving now.” He did not let anyone stop him but rose and left.
Ashlynn did not have a reason to stay either, so she left too.
Cory, and the Hilton family, all looked terrible.
Corentin seemed to have already decided on canceling the engagement with the Hilton family.
“Am I really being canceled on?” Meredith’s ego could not take it.
Cory consoled, “Meredith, don’t worry. Uncle will make Corentin take back what he said. You are my daughter–in–law–to–be. No one can change that.”
“I need an apology from Corentin,” Meredith requested.
“Of course!” Cory promised.
Ashlynn and Corentin left the restaurant, exited the elevator, walked across the hotel lobby, then entered the Bintley car waiting at the front door.
The car left.
The car was driving safely on the road. It was a deafening silence within the vehicle, and the atmosphere was so tense that it was suffocating.
Ashlynn sat by the side nervously. She looked slightly to the side and saw Corentin’s injured hand.
His slender fingers were covered in blood stains that had already coagulated and were no longer flowing.
He was indeed strong enough to have pressed the glass into pieces with his own. bare hands.
Then, it would also be possible for him to snap her neck into two.
“So, are you happy to become Beth’s goddaughter?” Corentin looked out of the window and asked.
Ashlynn suppressed her fear and said, “You forced me. Why would I be happy about it? Corentin, what do you want?”
Corentin turned around, his expression twisted. “I am fulfilling your wish, don’t you understand?”
Ashlynn looked at the man that she could not understand. “Corentin, I never owed you anything…”
Corentin’s hand lifted her face and then pulled her close. His lips almost kissed hers.” You still owe me a kid, don’t you forget?”
Ashlynn could almost smell the blood in Corentin’s hands. It was so strong that it went right through her nostrils to her brain. She had to suppress her reaction to throw up. Her face was even slightly paler.
This was not all of it. Corentin seemed to have discovered something. His finger slid across her face, leaving behind a streak of blood. He intended to make her face filthy.
Ashlynn could feel the warm liquid on her face, and dared not move. “Corentin, you are not human. You are a monster…”
“I know.” Corentin’s finger slid from her face down to the pulsing artery on her neck.
