Ch. 1251..1255: Powerful Papa with Triplet Babies Chapter 1251-1255
Chapter 1251
“You should have known that there was a problem at the mansion. Why didn’t you notice it? Give me a reason.” Corentin leaned on the sofa and looked at Owen. “I told you to keep an eye on the surveillance, did you?”
Owen stood there straight, not daring to answer.
“Owen, you’re not a careless person.” Corentin’s voice dropped suddenly.
Owen knelt down in fright. “Mr. Lloyd, even if you punish me today, I will never regret what I did! You should never have kept Ashlynn by your side, she is nothing but trouble, and she will be the cause of your downfall sooner or later! I received a call from a strange man who wanted to take Ashlynn away, and I…I…”
Needless to say, Corentin knew what he had done next.
Paul, next to him, was stunned. “Owen, you…”
“Mr. Lloyd, you are the heir of the Lloyd family. Ashlynn is already in the past. You have already done her a favor by being lenient to her, and you should not keep her by your side…” Owen did not feel that he was wrong, and he kept bumbling on.
Paul knew that he was going to get in trouble.
In the blink of an eye, Corentin picked up the unopened wine bottle on the table and
slammed it on Owen’s head!
Crash!
Glass splinters flew everywhere.
“Ah!” Owen held his head and writhed on the ground.
Corentin walked toward Owen. “Did I say you could meddle in my affairs? If you seek death, I would be happy to help.”
He kicked Owen’s stomach.
“Ouch!”
“Go to hell!” Corentin kicked him again and again in anger.
Owen did not resist and protected his abdomen and vitals with his hands.
Seeing this, Paul felt anxious.
If Corentin kept kicking him, Owen would die from blunt force trauma!
“Mr. Lloyd, calm down. Owen meant to do you good. He won’t do it again in the future! Mr. Lloyd!” Paul stepped forward and pulled Corentin back.
Corentin was panting heavily, he was not drunk, but his eyes were stormy.
The clothes and hair on his body were slightly disheveled because of his violent actions, which made him look wild and bloodthirsty.
“Don’t you dare appear in front of me again!” Corentin left the room directly.
Paul looked at Owen, who was curled up on the ground motionless. How could he be so ignorant of the situation? He could not bear to see him in such a mess.
Paul crouched down. “Are you dead?”
Owen could hardly stretch his stiff body. “I broke at least three ribs.”
Paul laughed exasperatedly at him. “Mr. Lloyd showed you mercy.”
“I know Mr. Lloyd is very angry, but I still don’t want his life to be messed up because of Ashlynn.” Owen moved his body and grimaced in pain. “I don’t understand. Why Ashlynn?”
“Maybe Ashlynn is special.”
“What?”
“Remember the place we grew up in? Even the rats living there think it’s poor, dirty, and messy. Ashlynn was the only one who did not fit in there. She was elegant and nice. Besides, she’s a famous college student. Before Ashlynn, I had yet to hear of anyone who was admitted to a prestigious university. That’s probably why Mr. Lloyd likes Ashlynn!”
“But Mr. Lloyd is not what he used to be. He can get his hands on anyone he wants, including the ones that graduate from prestigious universities. I heard that Meredith is also from a prestigious university!”
Paul shook his head helplessly. He really did not know how to explain this to Owen.” Okay, can you stand? I’ll take you to the hospital. You had better stay out of Mr. Lloyd’s sight for now, and wait until he calms down. The nerve…”
Ashlynn was lying in bed drowsy because it was already late at night.
She had just had a miscarriage, and she felt weak.
She did not dare to sleep though.
As soon as she heard movement, she stood upright and went out of the bedroom.
Corentin, who had just entered the room, smelled of alcohol and had a dark expression as if he wanted to murder someone.
Ashlynn was panicking, but she was worried about Chichi and asked, “Where’s Chichi? You didn’t do anything to it, did you? Corentin, you wouldn’t have… right?”
“Did you think I was joking?” Corentin asked darkly.
Ashlynn shook her head, tears in her eyes. “Corentin, you’re a monster…you’re a monster!”
Corentin stood in front of her, towering over her like a monster in the dark night.” Answer me now. Who took you?”
Ashlynn’s breathing was unsteady. “I didn’t see any faces. I was out cold. When I woke up, I was already in the ward.”
“You think I’ll believe that?” Corentin stepped closer.
Ashlynn stepped back. “Give me Chichi!”
“You are okay with the child gone, but not okay when it comes to the dog?” Corentin stretched out his hand and grabbed Ashlynn’s neck.
In the next second, she was thrown on the bed, she was suffocating, and her vision was blurring. “Corentin…”
“Go to hell!”
“Mmm!!” Ashlynn felt as if her neck was about to snap, and she could not get enough oxygen. Her face was flushed, and her eyes were swollen.
All she saw was Corentin’s crazed expression.
Corentin did not shoot her in the hospital when he pointed the gun at her. Was she going to die now?
Ashlynn could do nothing.
Her vision blurred, and she sank into darkness.
The neck on her hand suddenly loosened, fresh oxygen flowed into her lungs, and Ashlynn woke up with a jolt, coughing violently.
The coughing made her curl up and shiver.
Corentin took Ashlynn’s face into his hands and looked down at Ashlynn’s pale face.” Do you regret it now?”
With tears of fear in Ashlynn’s eyes, she said hoarsely, “The only thing I regret is… saving you.”
Corentin looked at her. His amber eyes were motionless, as if he was looking at a small and helpless creature. “Unfortunately, what is done is done.”
Ashlynn felt bitter. He was right.
Time could never be reversed.
Corentin gently touched her face with a crazed expression. “You have contributed a lot to who I am now. How could I have become Corentin if it weren’t for you? I should spare you because of this. You really wanted to marry me a long time ago, didn’t you?
“Salvatore, everyone gets married…to be happy.”
Chapter 1252
Corentin stared at her obsessively, with a wild expression in her eyes.
She was so fragile that Corentin could easily strangle her with one hand, and he could be free of this woman and all the emotions she bought to him.
However, he still let go of her neck at the last moment.
Ashlynn could not read Corentin’s mind but saw him holding back, his face twitching, looking vicious and ruthless.
Death was not something to be afraid of, and it was the process of expecting death that was unbearable.
Everything seemed to stop, including her heartbeat and breathing.
Just when Ashlynn thought she was about to die in silence, the pressure on her neck disappeared.
As soon as Corentin let go of her, she heard the sound of a slamming door, and she finally dared to breathe in short, trembling gasps.
Ashlynn turned sideways, curling herself into a fetal position as if that would give her a sense of security.
Her shoulders trembled slightly.
She was crying bitterly.
Evan was still in the company at night, telling Corentin about the investigation. Corentin stood up, furious. “You mean to tell me that the hospital surveillance footage has all been destroyed, so there is
nothing we can do?”
Evan paused and said, “Mr. Lloyd, if both the Hilton family and the Lloyd family know about this matter, it may not be easy to solve.”
Even Corentin’s closest secretary did not know that Corentin would get Ashlynn pregnant, so it was not an accident that Ashlynn became an assistant in the first place.
Everyone knew the truth now.
Corentin was sandwiched between the two forces of the Hiltons and the Lloyds, and he had to maintain a delicate balance between the two.
No wonder Mr. Lloyd was so angry.
Evan figured that for someone as emotionally stable as Corentin, he would choose to swallow his emotions and wait for a better outcome.
Little did he know that the man in front of him was not Corentin
“Did you investigate the doctors in the hospital who were doing surgery?” Corentin sat down on the chair, staring coldly at him.
“I did, and they all said the same thing, saying that they just did everything according to the hospital’s procedures, and they don’t know what happened.”
“Procedures…” Corentin laughed angrily. “You may leave.”
“Yes, sir.”
After Evan went out, Corentin made a call. “Take all the doctors who performed surgery that night to the execution room! You had better be able to extract
information from them, or else…”
He threw the phone on the table.
Afterward, Corentin waited in the office of the company until the sky darkened before the news came from the execution room.
Corentin had not been to the mansion since that night when he left.
Ashlynn was sitting in the garden, as usual, staring at the fish swimming in the pond with her unfocused eyes.
She no longer had Chichi to accompany her.
She was living in a nightmare, but at least she had Chichi by her side.
In the end, even she could not save Chichi, and it could never appear in front of her again in the future…
She was the one who had caused its death…
Ashlynn’s tears rolled down her cheeks. If she had not been taken away that day, nothing like this would have happened.
Why was she taken away? Why…
Chapter 1253
Ashlynn thought about Owen’s negligence. Was it really due to negligence?
There was the sound of a car’s engine, and Ashlynn’s body trembled slightly, but she did not turn her head to look.
Corentin was the only one who could come in so blatantly.
Corentin sat down on the chair across from her, his gaze falling on Ashlynn’s pale face.
“I shall ask you again, did you see the person who kidnapped you?” Corentin asked. His voice was low and devoid of emotion.
Ashlynn did not know why Corentin was asking her this at the moment.
Was he asking her because he already had the answer? Or was he merely trying to pressure her to get the truth?
Ashlynn did not want to say it was Beth because she had some concerns.
She would be in trouble if she offended Corentin or Beth.
What was the point of doing so anyway?
The child should not exist in the first place.
At least someone solved the problem for her. She did not need to remove the child herself now.
“Ashlynn, I’m giving you a chance.” Corentin leaned forward in the posture of a beast who was about to pounce.
Ashlynn looked at him with a numb expression. “Why don’t you say that your people were the ones at fault? Owen did something wrong, didn’t he? If it weren’t for him, people from the outside wouldn’t be able to get in at all, at least not so easily. Why don’t you investigate Owen instead of asking me again and again?”
“Owen is in the hospital now. Can you give me the answer now?” Corentin asked.
Ashlynn’s body shook slightly.
Owen was in the hospital, probably because Corentin beat him up. Who else would have the guts to hurt Owen?
Her suspicions about Owen were confirmed.
From Corentin’s obsession, he would not let go of the matter easily.
“As I said, I passed out at the time, and I don’t know.” Ashlynn was about to stand up. “I’m going to rest…”
As soon as she left her seat, he heard Corentin’s furious voice. “You didn’t think I would go to investigate the doctors, did you?”
Ashlynn’s body was stiff on the chair, her face expressionless, and her heart was beating anxiously.
“Had a nice chat with Beth, didn’t you?” Corentin looked at her, his amber eyes bloodshot. “You didn’t plead to her to let go of the child in her belly. You do know how much I value this child, don’t you?”
Ashlynn froze and sat still in the chair under Corentin’s sharp gaze.
Corentin put his hands around her head, shook her violently, and gritted his teeth. Speak!”
“Ah!” Ashlynn felt that her brain was about to explode. Her eyes rolled back into her skull, and it seemed as if Corentin exerted more force, her skull would shatter.
She was so frightened that she gasped for breath, and tears fell down her cheeks.
Ashlynn cried, distraught, “What do you want me to say? Corentin, the baby is gone. There’s no need to dwell on this matter. It’s over…”
“It’s over?” Corentin laughed with a cruel expression on his face. “You messed with me, and now you tell me it’s over? How ridiculous you are!”
“Ah!” Ashlynn exclaimed.
Corentin was frightening her with his crazed actions.
“Don’t you know who I am? Didn’t you say I’m a monster? I’ll let everyone know what happens to the people that mess with Corentin!” Corentin was furious.
“Anyone can have children, and yet you want me to do it for you, Corentin . I know how you feel. You want to prove that Salvatore still exists in you by protecting the people that remind you of him, like your brother, your former wife, and the dead child! said Ashlynn, fighting back her fear.
Corentin’s expression was distorted, and he gasped, “You’re right. That’s exactly what I want!” He pushed her head away.
“Ah!” Ashlynn was shoved roughly into her seat, panting in shock.
Chapter 1254
Listening to the sound of the car engine leaving, her tears poured down.
Ashlynn had no idea what Corentin was going to do.
It was not until she went to bed at night that she received a call from Anne. She adjusted her mood before answering, “Hi, Anne.”
“My uncle’s marriage to Meredith was called off?” Anne asked.
“This… I don’t know about this.” Ashlynn was surprised.
“I heard it by accident. The Lloyd Group made it public. I thought you knew. What happened? Were you involved?” Anne asked.
“I… the child is gone. The Hilton family did it. That’s why Corentin went berserk.” Ashlynn did not hide it from her.
“The child… cheer up, take good care of your body. You can have more kids in the future.”
“Not anymore. I didn’t want to have Corentin’s child, and it worked out well for me…” Ashlynn said with certainty.
She would not tell anyone that when she slept alone at night, she secretly grieved over the loss of her child.
She did not dare to cry.
Anne knew that even if Ashlynn was nonchalant, she was probably hurting deep inside.
“The Hilton family shouldn’t mess with Corentin. He can do horrible things to them,” Ashlynn said.
He had no weaknesses and was scared of nothing.”
Just as Salvatore was afraid of nothing, he was a monster that would not even blink if a knife got stuck in his body.
“Forget him. What you have to do now is to not think about anything and take care of your body. Do you understand me?” Anne was worried about her.
“I’m fine, don’t worry about me. How are you doing?”
“Not bad.” Although Anne had returned to the Royal Mansion and seemed to be back to normal with Anthony, the uneasiness in her heart was more pronounced.
It seemed abnormal for someone as cunning as Anthony not to do anything.
They chatted for a while on the phone, then hung up.
They felt powerless.
Anne could not help Ashlynn, and Ashlynn could not help Anne either.
After Corentin told the Lloyd Group’s public relations department to send out the
news of the cancellation of the marriage, the Hiltons and the Lloyds were caught off guard.
After seeing the news, Beth threw down the pen in her hand angrily.
She stood up, arms crossed, standing in front of the floor–to–ceiling windows, facing the night outside illuminated by street lamps.
Someone knocked on the study door.
“Come in.”
Aunt Cher came in with a small bowl. “Mrs. Hilton, why don’t you drink some tea and go to bed early?”
Beth was distraught. “I can’t sleep even if I drink tea.”
“You don’t look good. You are too worried. No matter how complicated the company’s affairs are, you still have to sleep!” Aunt Cher had a smile on her face.
“When did you see me worrying so much about the company?”
“Is it because of… little missy?” Aunt Cher took an educated guess.
“Corentin canceled the marriage with the Hiltons.”
“That’s too arrogant of him! What does he think we are, beggars?” Aunt Cher could not believe it.
Chapter 1255
“Indeed. I didn’t expect Corentin to be so disrespectful to the Hilton family! Even his father Cory held some respect for us!” Beth growled.
Aunt Cher turned her eyes and said, “I heard from little missy that their relationship was too messy?”
“You know about this?” Beth was surprised.
“Little missy was in a bad mood that night, so she complained to me. That woman is pregnant. It was a good decision to get rid of the child, wasn’t it? Poor little missy!”
Aunt Cher was the servant who took care of Meredith’s mother, so she was very trustworthy.
After Meredith’s mother died during childbirth, she was the one taking care of her.
She had no less love for Meredith than Beth did.
Seeing Aunt Cher’s loyalty, Beth invited her to work beside her so that she could see Meredith more.
The phone on the table rang.
Beth motioned to Aunt Cher, and she left. When the door was closed, she heard Beth’s voice on the phone. “Elder Lloyd…”
Aunt Cher looked up and saw Meredith coming back angrily. She hurriedly stepped forward. “Are you all right?”
“That Corentin! He is horrible!” Meredith learned about the cancellation of the marriage at one of her parties. “How humiliating!”
Meredith cried out of anger.
Aunt Cher was distressed, and she was so angry that she cursed Corentin, “That is not something an heir to the Lloyd family should do!”
“Don’t talk about him like that. He’s not entirely useless…” Meredith sat down on the sofa femininely.
Aunt Cher knew she liked Corentin. “Are you worried about him?”
“Of course not. I just think that there might be a misunderstanding in this matter because I don’t think Corentin would do such a thing.” Meredith was angry because someone asked her about the matter, and her answer seemed to imply that Corentin abandoned her. “Where’s Auntie?”
“In the study, she seems to be on the phone with Mr. Lloyd, discussing this matter.” Aunt Cher said.
“My auntie always does what is best for me,” Meredith said.
A look of disappointment flashed in Aunt Cher’s eyes, and she said immediately, “Is that woman named Ashlynn so good at her tricks? She caused so much trouble for both the families.”
“She’s not so great. She lost her child because of auntie.” Meredith sneered. “Is it worth canceling the marriage between the two families just for the sake of Ashlynn’s child? Corentin must have been bewitched by Ashlynn!”
“Since Young Master Lloyd wants a child, you can give him one. You will have one with him someday. Are you going to go meet Young Master Lloyd?” Aunt Cher advised.
“That… let’s talk about it later!” Meredith still felt fear when she recalled what had happened that night.
Corentin was such a pervert.
She could not bear the thought that her marriage was canceled though.
“I’m going to go see auntie.”
She wanted to discuss with her auntie how to deal with this matter.
Ashlynn had stayed at the mansion all day and did not have any fun.
Most of the time, she was in a daze.
Both her mind and body needed to recover.
Just like the days after Salvatore was thrown into prison by her, she was in a daze, as if she had stepped into a fog and had lost her way.
The surveillance cameras in the mansion were still there and had not been removed.
Ashlynn also knew that without Corentin’s permission, she could not leave. There was no need to ask Corentin about it.
