Ch. 1081..1085: Powerful Papa with Triplet Babies Chapter 1081-1085
Chapter 1081
That’s right,‘ Ashlynn thought. ‘If the baby is gone, I won’t stand a chance. Is Corentin going to force me to give birth to his child now?‘
“Since we are here in the hospital, let’s get you checked as well!” Instead of reflecting on his actions, Corentin decided to take it a step further.
Ashlynn paled and shook her head. “No. I won’t give birth to your child. I won’t…”
“We’ve found a doctor.”
They drove the car to the main entrance of the hospital and Corentin carried Ashlynn out of the car and into the gynecology department.
She fought the entire way and eventually was drained of all her strength. The doctor took her blood sample before Corentin forced her into the inspection room.
Just as the doctor was about to operate the machine, Corentin waved her away and sat down next to the machine, before commanding, “Gloves.”
The doctor handed him a pair of gloves hastily.
He put them on and said, “If she resists, you two will pin her down, and you are going to tell me how to operate this thing. After all, I won’t have others touching her private area, even if it’s a female doctor.”
His tone was casual, not knowing how strange and irrational his words were.
The doctor and the nurses gaped at his command, and Ashlynn forgot to resist for a moment, until the doctor began to instruct Corentin on how to operate the machine.
“Umph!” She frowned at the cold sensation.
“Does it hurt?” He asked.
She bit on her lower lip at the humiliation and tried her best to relax.
The nurses pinned Ashlynn down while the doctor instructed Corentin and explained what was shown on the screen.
It seemed like Corentin was doing it right.
Ashlynn had never thought she would face such absurdity and gave up entirely.
“Can you tell that she’s been pregnant before?” Corentin asked.
The doctor glanced at Ashlynn, unsure if she should disclose such information. In the hospital, it was normal protocol to not answer any private question asked by the husbands out of concern that they might cause conflicts in the family.
However, it did not seem as though the doctor was given much of a choice. “Yes. She’s had an induced abortion,” the doctor said.
“Ugh!” Ashlynn gasped.
“I’ll be gentle.” Corentin calmed himself, but the dark look in his eyes remained.
The doctor and nurses could still sense the tension in the air and remained quiet.
“Will it affect her ability to get pregnant?” Corentin stared at the screen.
“The interlining of her uterus seems healthy. Her ovaries are healthy as well based on her reports,” the doctor said.
The interlining of the uterus wall, ovaries and oviducts were all crucial in conceiving a healthy child and a pregnancy would not be achieved if any of the three had issues, and Ashlynn seemed healthy in all aspects.
Deciding to intercept, Ashlynn asked, “Are you done? Can you take that thing out now?”
It was bad enough to be checked by the doctor and to have Corentin perform the check was merely unbearable.
Corentin withdrew the detector and took off the gloves. “Tell me why you aren’t pregnant, then?”
Ashlynn put her trousers on and tried her best to remain calm. “It has to be my problem if I’m not pregnant? Maybe you are the problem! You didn’t check yourself, after all!”
She thought that her response was logical enough and did not think that Corentin would undergo a fertility test. After all, it was mostly women who would get fertility tests and a majority of men were too prideful to do so, not to mention for men of Corentin’s status.
Chapter 1082
If others caught news of this, they might think that the heir to the Lloyd Group had fertility issues and soon, Corentin would become the laughing stock of the entire city. Corentin was smart enough to understand the risk, but just as she was certain that he would give up, she heard him say to the doctor, “Put me into a slot for the test.”
“Sure.” The doctor went outside to make the arrangement.
Ashlynn was still trying to process the fact that Corentin had agreed to take a fertility test, when Corentin pulled her into a certain room.
“What?” She asked, “I thought you needed to give them the sample.”
When Corentin dragged her into the designated washroom, she immediately realized what Corentin was thinking and swiftly turned to escape.
Corentin stepped on the door and slammed it shut. “We are alone here. There’s no need to be embarrassed.”
“Do this yourself, Corentin Lloyd!” She roared.
“I never do it myself.” He pulled her closer. “You are my wife, so of course, you should be the one who does it.”
Ashlynn desperately wanted to escape.
In the end, the results came out and Corentin was fertile.
Ashlynn had merely wished to challenge Corentin, and never truly thought that he was infertile, since he had only gotten another woman pregnant a few months ago.
Simply saying that their genes were a mismatch was hardly a reasonable explanation as she was pregnant once when she was married to Salvatore.
She had thought that Corentin would be too proud to undergo the fertility test and had not expected him to actually go through with it.
“Explain.” In the car, Corentin showed her the medical report.
“Explain what? Even if the medical reports look fine, maybe the timing just isn’t right? “She refused to mention that she was taking contraceptive pills.
He remained quiet and stared at her intently as though he was trying to determine if she was lying.
She turned around and stared outside the window.
“You’ve killed your own child. I’m sure the gods saw fit to not give you another one.”
He smiled evilly. “Let’s try, then.”
Her blood ran cold as she knew that ‘trying‘ meant she would have to suffer.
The butler entered the study room where Cory was practicing his calligraphy.
“You knew that I don’t like to be disturbed when I’m practicing,” Cory said.
“Yes, but Sir… Tina lost her child. They said that she had an accident and the child was gone before she even got to the hospital,” the butler said.
Cory stilled. “An accident that cost her the baby despite she’s already five months. into the pregnancy?”
“Yes, sir.”
“She wasn’t meant to keep the child, after all. It’s not a bad thing, though. At least I won’t have to apologize to the Hiltons about this.” Cory had intended to apologize to the Hilton Family after the child was born.
“This one might be gone, but Ms. Thompson is still with Mr. Corentin and it’s just a matter of time before she gets pregnant,” the butler consoled.
“She hasn’t gotten pregnant so far, so I doubt that she will. Besides, I prefer Meredith to be the one to bear Corentin’s child. Their children are the legitimate ones and any other children birthed by other women are nothing but an addition to the family three. “Cory wanted nothing but to tighten the alliance with the Hilton Family.
“Mr. Corentin doesn’t seem to like her, though…”
“I don’t like that Ashlynn, but since Corentin seems to like her, I can ignore her as long as she behaves herself. Even if Corentin doesn’t care about the engagement with Meredith, I can’t just let him do whatever he wants. It’s a shame that Tina lost the child, though…”
“You will have grandchildren as long as Mr. Corentin is willing to obey you,” the butler said.
However, Corentin had made it clear that he was not at all interested in Meredith and no one could make him do anything against his will. He was not the real Corentin, after all, and he had been proven much harder to be manipulated.
Chapter 1083
“You might have lost this grandchild, but you have great–grandchildren. Ms. Vallois has three children!” The butler reminded Cory.
Cory thought of Anne and her triplets. Anne was the child of his eldest and had Nigel not been so determined to cut ties with his family, Cory would not have been so distant with his granddaughter.
“I haven’t visited Nigel’s grave since his death. I will go pay him a visit soon!”
“Yes, sir.”
Cory traveled to the graveyard by car and spotted a woman at the top of the stairs as soon as he arrived. The woman held a cane and was moving ahead slowly with a bouquet in her hand; there was a man holding flowers and offerings in his hands standing behind her as well.
It was Anne, followed by the driver.
Anne had not visited her parent’s graves since she lost her memories, but their death had never ceased to torment her.
She stumbled her way toward the graves and the driver informed her that she had reached her parents‘ graves.
She crouched down and set the flowers down. “Dad, Mom, I’m here. I’m sorry for not visiting sooner. I’ve been busy. Have you missed me?”
She touched the graves and noticed that there was no offering or flowers.
‘I don’t know what I was expecting. Who else would come here apart from me?‘ She thought. ‘Bianca? She can go to hell!‘
She started to light candles and set out offerings in front of the graves, before reaching out to touch the engraving.
Her father was buried on the left and her mother on the right. Though she could touch their graves, she could not see them and tears welled in her eyes before she noticed it.
“Dad, Mom, are you together now? I would feel so much better if you were…” She sobbed. “I had a dream last night when I was little. I still referred to Mom as my aunt back then and I would always be so happy whenever I see her. She would buy me food and pretty dresses and take me out to play…I dreamt of Dad, too. The two of you held my hands and led me forward, before disappearing. I have been so depressed since I woke up from that dream…”
So she came to the graveyard without telling her children when Anthony was not home.
Anthony had no rights to be here and she did not want her sorrow to affect her children.
“The triplets are doing great, so don’t worry. I will take care of them and take them here next time…” Anne lit the candles while crying and accidently burnt her finger. ” Ow…”
“Mrs. Marwood.” The driver hurried over and spotted the redden spot on Anne’s finger. “Why don’t I do it?”
“I will light the candles on my own parents‘ graves. It’s fine. I will be more careful.”
The driver stood to the side and turned his head when he heard footsteps approaching.
Anne caught onto the sound before the driver did and asked, “Who is there?”
Before the driver could answer, Cory said, “Anne, it’s your grandfather.”
She froze and stood up to look at the direction where the voice came from.
She recognized the voice.
Cory set the flowers and fruits he bought before the graves.
Chapter 1084
Anne heard the sound of something being set onto the ground. She had not expected Cory to come all the way from Athetin as he had a horrible relationship with Nigel and had not mourned or appeared at all after Nigel’s death.
Anne had accepted the fact that only her and her children would come to the graves by now.
Cory stared at his eldest son’s grave and sighed. “Nigel was my first–born and I was so proud on the day he was born. I had never imagined that he would break ties with me when he grew up, and I was hurt for a really long time.”
“How could Dad accept all the shady business you were running?” Anne still remembered the things Ashlynn had told her and was still having a hard time believing all the inhumane acts the Lloyd Family benefited from. “You should be proud of having such a kind–hearted son, instead of feeling ashamed. I support my dad’s decision, so I am on his side.”
By stating that she was on the same side as her father, she was declaring that she would never stand with the Lloyd Family’s values and she hoped that her grandfather would understand that as soon as possible.
“I know, and I can understand.” Cory nodded. “Everything that the Lloyd Family does is legal, and you don’t have to worry about that. I do want to accept you back into the family as my granddaughter and to have you included in our family tree. That’s my way of respecting your dad as well.”
Anne was shocked.
Ever since her father had passed away, Cory had not contacted her at all, so she could not understand why Cory had made a sudden appearance at her father’s grave, let alone asking for her permission to
include her in the family.
She turned to face the graves, hoping for some sort of guidance from her parents.
‘Should I say yes? I know that I don’t have any family left. He is still my grandfather and he is probably here out of guilt toward my dad,‘ she thought. ‘Dad, what would you have done if you were still alive?‘
Anne knew that whatever she decided to do, her father would support her
unconditionally as he loved her with all his heart.
Cory picked up Anne’s cane and handed it to her.
Anne grabbed the cane tightly at the realization that Cory had found out about her”
loss of vision and instantly felt slightly embarrassed.
“What did the doctor that Corentin found for you said?”
‘Did he come all the way because he found out about my eyes?‘ She thought.
“The doctor prescribed me some new medicines and said that I should recover soon.
“Good. I’ve consulted the doctor before coming. You lost your vision mainly due to a brain injury so you should recover in no time,” Cory said. “Let me accompany you down the stairs.” He then proceeded to help her down the stairs.
Anne had a hard time adjusting to having someone Cory’s age take care of her, but since he seemed to be doing so willingly, she decided to simply let him as a way to bond.
They arrived before the stairs and were about to walk down when Cory glanced down and said, “Anthony is here.”
Anne stilled, before proceeding to walk down the stairs.
Anthony walked up and grabbed Anne’s cane without her permission, before taking her soft hand into his palm. He nodded at Cory and said, “I didn’t know that you would be here as well, Elder Lloyd. Did Anne cause you any trouble?”
His intimidating aura overpowered Cory and Cory could not help but cower slightly even though it was the second time he had seen Anthony.
“How could she ever be in trouble? I’m her grandfather and I am more than happy to care for her,” Cory said kindly. “I came here to visit my son’s grave and check on Anne. I have been so worried ever since I heard that she lost her eyesight.”
“It’s just temporary. You don’t have to worry.” Anthony helped Anne down the stairs.
Chapter 1085
“Good. I feel reassured,” Cory said.
Anthony remained silent. Had Anne not been related to the Lloyds, Anthony would have never been in contact with this family.
After all, all powerful beings had their own territories and would often remain out of one another’s ways.
Once they arrived at the end of the stairs, Cory added, “I’ll go back to my hotel and will stay here for about two to three days. Anne, if you want to return to this family, call me. No matter what you decide, I won’t force you to do anything.” With that said, he returned to his car.
Anthony stared at Anne intently without a word until they were inside the car. “You want to go back to the Lloyd Family?”
“He said he wants me to. I’m still considering…” She said.
The fact that she was considering it meant that she wanted to be a part of the family, or she would have refused Cory’s offer on the spot. With all the members of her family gone, it was only normal for her to want to return to her roots.
“There’s no harm in returning to the Lloyd Family,” he said.
Anne was surprised that he would say so, but agreed that there was no harm to being officially included in the Lloyd Family.
She had not taken the initiative to approach them at first because she could sense that they were not entirely welcoming, and she did not want to beg for their acceptance.
“Invite him over to the Royal Mansion for a meal before he goes back to Athetin,” Anthony said.
“Let’s invite him to my mom’s mansion instead!” Anne said.
“Why?”
She turned to face outside the window and thought, ‘Why? Because…I am me, and
you are you. We have never been equals and I’ve always been living under your control. I’m just waiting for my chance to escape you, and I only obey you now because I’m blind.”
She desperately wished that she could cut all ties with Anthony at once.
“I’ll make the arrangement,” Anthony decided authoritatively.
Anne did not argue, as she knew that nothing she said would matter.
Tension rose inside the car.
Ever since their fight concerning Bianca, Anne had grown colder and would rarely speak to Anthony unless necessary, she had concluded that if she was to look into Bianca after her vision recovered, Anthony would actively try to stop her, or even attempt to eradicate all evidence that pointed against Bianca.
However, Anthony was still the father of her children and no matter what happened, she could not be completely merciless toward him.
Anne was absorbed in her thoughts, while Anthony stared at her in silence and narrowed his eyes thoughtfully.
The car did not drive toward the Royal Mansion, but had stopped by the street instead.
Thinking that they had arrived, Anne got out of the car but immediately backed away when she heard all the noises.
Anthony took her hand and whispered, “Don’t be afraid. Let’s have lunch outside today.”
Anne knew that she would have to remain in the Royal Mansion before her vision returned, as Anthony would never agree to let her go back to her own house.
The streets were noisy, but everything returned to silence when they entered the restaurant. Though Anne could not see, she instinctively knew that Anthony had cleared out the restaurant ahead of time, otherwise there were bound to be other customers.
Anthony led her to the table to take their seats, before starting to order.
Anne turned her face slightly to listen to the sounds of her surroundings, which sounded gentle as though every noise was dancing along with every pulse of her nerves.
After ordering food, Anthony asked, “How are you feeling?”
This was the first time Anne had eaten outside ever since she lost her vision.
