Baby didn’t finish work until after 10:00 p.m.
Thinking about how his parents were away and Belle was also out of town, he realized he’d be going home to an empty house. Rather than spending the night alone, he decided to stay at his cousin’s place. At least there would be someone to talk to.
So he drove straight to Sonny’s house.
Sonny had just gotten home. After pouring himself a glass of warm water, he sat down on the sofa to drink it when his phone rang.
Seeing Baby’s name on the screen, he answered immediately.
“Baby, why are you calling so late? Is everything okay?”
“Brother, are you home? I’d like to stay at your place tonight. Is that alright?”
